Tom Hayden Looks at Clinton’s 60s Past
In The Nation, former 60s radical Tom Hayden — in an essay called "Why Hillary Makes My Wife Scream" — hammers Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, for attacking Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, for his association with former Weather Underground member William Ayers. "Hillary is blind to her own roots in the sixties," Hayden writes. "She was in Chicago for three nights during the 1968 street confrontations. She chaired the 1970 Yale law school meeting where students voted to join a national student strike again an ‘unconscionable expansion of a war that should never have been waged.’ She was involved in the New Haven defense of Bobby Seale during his murder trial in 1970, as the lead scheduler of student monitors. … She wrote that abused children were citizens with the same rights as their parents.
"Most significantly in terms of her recent attacks on Barack, after Yale law school, Hillary went to work for the left-wing Bay Area law firm of Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein, which specialized in Black Panthers and West Coast labor leaders prosecuted for being communists. Two of the firm’s partners, according to Treuhaft, were communists and the two others ‘tolerated communists’. Then she went on to Washington to help impeach Richard Nixon, whose career was built on smearing and destroying the careers of people through vague insinuations about their backgrounds and associates. …
"All these were honorable words and associations in my mind, but doesn’t she see how the Hillary of today would accuse the Hillary of the sixties of associating with black revolutionaries who fought gun battles with police officers, and defending pro-communist lawyers who backed communists? Doesn’t the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whom Hillary attacks today, represent the very essence of the black radicals Hillary was associating with in those days? And isn’t the Hillary of today becoming the same kind of guilt-by-association insinuator as the Richard Nixon she worked to impeach?"

Obama Backs Off Birth Control Battle?
to answer the last question about comparing sen. clinton to nixon-the answer is NO.
This is what I am talking about, obama the uniter has brought out all of these far-lefters-has Jerry Brown endorsed obama yet?
when the clintons went to wash. they went as outsiders-and moderates and the insiders could not stand it. so the witch-hunt began.
before we start throwing new stones at sen. clinton-go and examine the “messengers” history.
I suppose mr tom was in the audience that obama talked about the small town and clinging to guns and religion.
all of these far lefters have their history. and what are they trying to do now-make sen. clinton take the blame for it.
just like the walmart deal
when sen. clinton was on the board of walmart-everybody and his brother was shopping there. everybody wanted to have a walmart coming to their town.
now that over time walmart changed and the public favor seems to be changing
we get footage of sen. clinton in her younger days (you can tell) and all of a sudden she represents the wal mart of today. it is not fair.
so once again (and she is tough-she will weather this also) you have got everybody on every side going against sen. clinton. the right hate her
the left hate her. Where are the people who are in the center-moderation in all things is the way to go.
what we who support her need is our own media outlet-tv. radio, and print.
obama has cnn.msnbc
mccain has fox
clinton-has everybody against her.
a weaker person would have caved a long time ago.
look at obama-a little choppy water and he wants to run and hide, no more debates-just let the money do the talking for me.
moderation in all things
take the middle road
sen. clinton

I do not doubt it is the truth
but what is mr. tom trying to accomplish here?
sen. clinton is no nixon.
but if we examine obama and alice palmer association-
we may see a nixon in the making

More dirt of clintons.
When it would be enough?
When White House will sink from clinton’s dirt?

this is not clinton dirt
the history he is listing is easy enough to find out.
but to compare her to nixon is not fair.and incorrect.
check out what obama the uniter did to alice palmer and some of the other he has run against
I wonder if he has ever won office
outright fair and square?

I am a small town, working-class, white, middle-aged women. I know Obama is right when he says that we cling to guns and religion in rural America. We do. Why is it that every time he speaks a simple truth this man gets slammed for it? Obama is intelligent and that scares people. It shouldn’t. Intelligence is a good trait for a president to have. We’ve gone for eight years without it and look where it’s gotten us.
Obama will win and he will be a great president!

Is there anyone out there who has not figured out that Clinton stands for nothing and yet everything depending on which minute/day it is?
Is there anyone out there who has not figured out that Clinton is a liar and maniuplator?
Is there anyone out there who actually AGREES with her fuzzy math in counting the uh..”votes” and really believes she wants all votes counted whe she would dismiss over 40% “undecided in Michigan”?
Is there anyone out there who really thinks we should just dismiss all the caucus states, red states and small states?
Is there anyone out there who really thinks you should change the rules of the party’s election process AFTER we are 3/4 through the campaign?
Is there anyone left out there that would vote for her in spite of just a few of her negatives I’ve listed?
If so there is not hope for you.

None of her associations are as deep-rooted and long-lasting as Obama and Wright, and Obama and Ayers.
That is why they are not comparable. But let that not stop you and everyone else from making hay out of it.

If the main point is that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is a hypocrite, then “Yes, she is!” This is an important corrective to Sen Clinton’s smear tactics, however tactically savvy they may seem at the time. You see, hers and President Bill Clinton’s pasts have more skeletons — and ugly ones at that. But if she can get the media lapdogs to focus on Senator Barack Obama, and claim she has been “vetted” already (when?) then people do not focus on what is in her closet. She gets a “pass” as does Senator John McCain.
The fact that the corporate cable media like CNN and FOXNews repeat the Clinton mantra ad nauseum is reason for despair. Good on Tom Hayden for doing his homework and reporting on this story.
(And, for the record, if you were not radical in the 1960s then you must have been brain-dead or a moral minion, given the civil and women’s rights movements, the war, student uprising, decolonization etc. But because Clinton makes an obscure Obama “relationship” seem relevant, then if it is good for the goose it is good for the gander! BTW how about her top surrogate, Bill Clinton? Why doesn’t he have to answer for his pardons of two Weathermen? If she was so influential in his government, why didn’t she advise him against pardons? Of course the media has asked neither of them that question — because they already have been vetted.)
Hypocrisy and double-standards.

Leave it to Obama hacks in the media to not be able to tell the difference between flirting with the left-wing in your teens and twenties and choosing radical, anti-American friends and mentors in your 30s and 40s.
Voters know the difference, Jake, even though you and The Nation don’t. Give it up. Obama is unelectable.

So we don’t all grow and mature? Tom Hayden went into politics and joined the “establishment.” What is this story about anyway? It seems to be the same old story: say good things about Clinton but always couch them in some kind of veiled smear; she’s “GOT to win NH” and she did; she’s “GOT to win TX and OH” and she did; she’s “GOT to win PA”, and she did but that’s still not good enough. How is it she keeps winnning the big states against all odds and the media still insists none of it matters?

Jgaw: Boo hoo hoo, so Clinton is the victim again? When will she stop being the victim, when she’s elected President?? If Fox is against her why are her surrogates PRAISING the network repeatedly. Why hasn’t she denounced Ed Rendell’s statements emphatically praising Farrakhan and saying what a great leader he was? Why does she have a 60% negative rating nationally among Americans citizens? She was the first lady, the wife of an ex-president with an astounding name recognition, yet she has no money (which explains her desperation for free air time in debates), her campaign is in a shambles, her top staffers are defecting TO Obama, her chief strategist was making backroom deals with the Colombian government, her husband was making deals with the Colombian AND Chinese governments.
There are unanswered questions regarding Vince Foster, Peter Paul, Hsu, Vinod Gupta among others, questions relating to the drug cartel. The fact that they STILL won’t release last years taxes (which is what EVERYBODY wanted in the first place), still not releasing info from the Clinton Library, donors list are unanswered (who do the owe favors to, who have they promised grants to, pardons to, contracts to…etc). The list goes on, why if they are innocent and have nothing to hide are they being secretive? Why won’t she release her earkmarks (where misc money went that was spent in NY)??? Questions when she was a Goldwater Girl are still not known by the majority of voters today. The fact that all these and more are questionable is a huge problem if she wants to be CIC.
The chances of her winning this nom is slim to NONE, yet she continues the negative Rovian attacks to discredit her democratic opponent while praising her republican opponent in the hopes to run again in 2012. That is her only resolve in sticking it out, she wants Obama to collapse. Who does that? Who but an android candidate who is less interested in uniting our country and our party, but more interested in power. She’s power hungry, her husband (guilt ridden from his philandering days) is power hungry for her and they will stop at nothing to win. Simple as that.
One sad thing is that racism unfortunately plays a role in this election cycle (hopefully not a significant one in the GE), and the Clintons are reveling and IN FACT taking advantage of people’s fear, prejudices and bigotry to get ahead. For that reason alone, I WILL NEVER SUPPORT HER , nor will I ever get the great respect I had for Bill Clinton throughout his good and bad times.
Posted by: Monique | April 27, 2008, 1:41 pm 1:41 pm
katmandu,
By “wrong headed” do you mean any analysis that criticizes your candidate Hillary?
The fact that McCain is now jumping on the Ayers story too just goes to show that the GOP has no serious issues to raise against Obama. He was 8 years old then, for Heaven’s sake! Ayers is now a respected and productive member of our society. So what if they served on the board of directors of a nonprofit for several years at the same time? What is the big deal? For such a supposedly close connection, don’t you find it odd that Ayers has donated only once to an Obama campaign (not this one) and only $200? I’ve given 4 times that much to his campaign already. I have some outstanding parking tickets– maybe Obama should ask me not to vote for him or send my money back!
Obama is going to win this primary and the general election and be the next president of the United States. And not a moment too soon! The country is awash in media-created distractions such as this Ayers nonsense, when we have serious challenges before us as a nation. They will only be met if the people and the media get behind the government.

The main purpose of neo-Stalinist Obama groupie Hayden’s “Wife Scream” seems to be to red-bait Clinton, as a way to divert attention from the long-standing and deep association between Obama and Ayers. Why Hayden’s wife can’t speak for herself, no one knows.
This piece has been on HuffPo (pre-PA primary, commondreams, and God knows where else).
Aside from the Ayers’ Exelon connection, the interesting thing is that Obama’s concealed his work with Ayers, which went on for year, on “education reform” in Chicago. The record of that corporate takeover of community struggles does nothing, according to Steve Diamond among others, to suggest that Obama’s over-ballyhooed ability to bring people together, blablabla is anything more than hype.
A retrospective reading of Hayden’s unprincipled Obamabotting — look up “We Have a Nominee” in HuffPo — is sure to disgust any thoughtful person outside the captive uber-left.
Is this post meant to distract from the fact that Alice Palmer — the black mentor Obama double-crossed to get the state Senate seat in Illinois — has emerged to campaign for Clinton?

Thanks for helping keep the record straight. I was wondering how Hillary could have ‘weathered’ the 60s with her passionately liberal ideals without being a little at the fringe. As for Obama, he was born in 1961, so he wasn’t a major player right then.
Clinton’s assertions do need some vetting, such as this. I hope we can have a lot more of it coz some of us don’t have the resources or time to dig through the archives.
We can read it when you do. Thanks to Tom Hayden, a radical who pretty much ought to know who’s who and who did what. I wonder if Obama wore a flag pin on his diapers ….

There is far distance from being radical to being terrorist and anti-america. Hillary was associated with “radical groups”, which are now considered very progressive forces even back then were considered radical. This demonstrated Hillary’s courage and her quality. But, by no means what she followed and did then can be considered terrorist and anti-america. Obama here is a totally different story. The fact he is so comfortably around those people, Ayers, Wright, directly inidates what he really beleives. Over 30 years passed, Ayers is sitll considered a terrorist, what good has he brought to this country? Wright, self-claimed that he used provacotive words to preach his listeners, is by the mainstream considered unacceptable. Yes, he is entitled to his opinion, but the way he preaches is not acceptable.

Afrocentric, Black Liberation Theology — These are the things that Obama should clearly explain what his position is.
People should read this article.
Wright clearly meant what he said, and he is very effective, of course, with Obama’s willingess to allow thousands of blacks (including his children) to listen to Wright’s falseful preach.
A 1990 poll taken by the New York Times/CBS found that 10 percent of blacks in New York City thought the AIDS virus was “deliberately created in a laboratory in order to infect black people,” while another 19 percent thought the theory might possibly be true, a finding that was confirmed in a similar poll by Newsweek/Gallup in March 1990. And the paranoia among blacks has only gotten worse, according to a 2005 study by Rand Corporation and Oregon State University, which showed that half of African Americans surveyed believed that AIDS is man-made, more than one quarter said it was created in a government lab, and 12 percent claimed that the virus was spread by the CIA.

Oh but if you play by the rules that the Clintons do then that dosen’t count. Same rational that they use when screaming (with full spittle on their chins) that the votes in FL and MI must count even though they agreed they wouldn’t…..until they needed them.
Just like having a pastor that has his own opinions matters until you look at her’s and find he is much scarier.
Just like taking money from people who work in the oil business is bad but taking it from the lobbiest who are there to make you vote their way is the only thing holding up campaign afloat.
Just like saying Obama lies but Hillary misspeaks…just like they did about raising 10 million in 24 hours when they didn’t….
Just like sending an adult daughter(28 years old) out on the campaign trail but screaming foul (again with full spittle on their chins) when she is called on some of her “little white lies”.
Just like Bill being racist, and trust me no one with a brain thinks any different these days, yet they try to play the race card on Obama.
The rules that apply to you and I don’t apply to 109 million Clintons who cannot seem to do math. Makes one wonder how they graduated from law school with out it?

“Thanks to Tom Hayden, a radical who pretty much ought to know who’s who and who did what. I wonder if Obama wore a flag pin on his diapers ….”
Obama was a red diaper baby (his mommie was kind of a commie). Now, there’s nothing WRONG with that, Lord knows, and the press (and nearly everybody else) has managed not to mention it, just as no one mentioned Clinton’s youthful and tenuous Panther connection when Bill Clinton was running for president — but many may wonder at, and disdain, Obama’s misrepresentation of his entire biography — particularly his close association with Ayers and Dohrn, in corporatizing the Chicago “education reform” movement, taking over the Illinois Senate seat, and the like.
Whatever happens with Obama’s zillion-dollar attempt to ascend to the presidency without passing “GO”, it’s safe to say that tender candidate Obama has subverted so many of the celebrity uber-left to shill for his undercover candidacy that there’s going to be no “left” left. Maybe that was the point of this tiresome and racially-DIVISIVE exercise.

That “left spokesman” Hayden is still papering the internet with a piece red-baiting Clinton for working for somebody who tried to help Bobby Seale — the BLACK man who sat SHACKLED in a CHICAGO courtroom for an extended period, lest we forget, alongside his unshackled white co-defendants in the Chicago 7 festivities provoked, if you care to look at it that way, by Obama’s pals in the Weathermen — is utterly contemptible.
That nearly no one has taken Hayden to task PUBLICLY over this piece — however, see the comments to it at commondreams.org (where comments are not, so far, censored in favor of Obama as they are at Huffington Post) — other than for the sexism of laying his pukey opinions on “my wife” — one is marginally surprised and a little relieved that Hayden hasn’t dragged some or all of his PAST wives into it! –doesn’t, I think, mean that nobody objects to it.

The only thing Americans SHOULD remember is When Hillary used Judgement to lie about running from snipper fire in Bosnia on 3, midmorning campaigns(no sleep deprivation) she proved once again(Yes to Iraq War, Whitewater,Vince Foster to mention only a few problems) that her judgement to make Major decisions as Commander in Chief is DOUBTFUL,not to mention UNTRUSTWORTHY. WORLD LEADERS will not trust her on ANY Peace Treaties and they are watching this whole election. More Recently…Read DemocracyNow 4-22-08,entitled”Pentagon’s Pundits:A Look at the Defence Department’s Propaganda Program”, How the pentagon sent retired military officers to all the news media to talk REPEATEDLY(just like Rev Wright’s inflamatory video aired for 6 weeks and 1 week airing of Hillary’s snippers in Bosnia..Fair? Balanced reporting?) (brainwashing) on national TV, to convince Americans a for going to war.4-24-08 Huffington Post reported that President Bush’s former “Press Secretary” Tony Snow just got hired as a “CNN Contributer”….The Pentagon again does not want Senator Obama to become the next President of the United States… Americans ask your self WHY?Karl Rove and Bill Kristol just got hired by Time Magazine and Washington Post? Americans, ask yourself WHY does the news media cater to the Pentagon? I think, the Pentagon can control the Clinton’s because of their past JUDGEMENTS on their decisions, ie Whitewater, Vince Foster suicide, Monica Lewinski, etc. And of course, the Pentagon can control McCain, because of McCain’s wife Cindy and HER drug addiction past. and other sneeky things about McCain. The only Unknown, uncontrolable, is Senator Obama..the real Maverick? That is why so much air time 6 weeks of Rev Wright’s speech versus 1 week of Hillary’s Snipper in Bosnia speech AND now the John Ayers/Obama association and NOWHERE on the national TV is it aired about the recent disappearance amid Audit of the Clinton’s Library Builder’s CFO John Glasgow? Read Huffington Post 1-30-08, Foxnews.com 3-16-08, and arkansasbusiness.com, 1-31-08. Americans view on National TV the disappearance of Stacy Peterson REPEATEDLY AIRED, Polamy, Florida Teens assaulting people? Where is John Glasgow? Clinton’s EXTENDED their 07 Tax Returns(Clinton Pres. Library funds would be in that 07 Return) conviently, Obama and McCain disclosed thier 07 Tax Returns! TRUST Clintons? Remember Whitewater investigation and Vince Foster? Trust Clintons? No wonder the Pentagon’s choice for President are the Clintons, they are controllable. There is a real difference here Hillary Clinton was actually involved in these things which include her husband releasing from prison two weather unnderground members who where linked to a brinks truck robbery that left two cops and a security gaurd dead, these two women where serving 40 years and 53 years thats life. He put these cop killers back on the street. Ayers was never convicted of anything. Obama knows him only in his professional carrer now not from when he was alledgedly doing things in the 70′s Obama was 6 or 7 then Clinton was involved in these things firsthand. I am AA and i can’t for the life of me understand why she would defend the black panthers for tortchuring and killing a cop. WOW!

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND, JAKE?????
Ayers and Dohrn and their buddies used BOMBS in an attempt to further their cause. They killed some of their friends in the process.
They feel no remorse for their action… according to a New York Times quote run on 9/11.
Hillary used WORDS!!!! Words are powerful, but they don’t spray blood
and guts and body limbs….
“Hayden is still papering the internet with a piece red-baiting Clinton for working for somebody who tried to help Bobby Seale — the BLACK man who sat SHACKLED in a CHICAGO courtroom for an extended period, lest we forget, alongside his unshackled white co-defendants in the Chicago 7 festivities provoked” by …..the Weathermen.
Some went to jail.
Some, years later, repented and were pardoned by Bill Clinton
Ayers never went to jail and NEVER repented… felt they hadn’t done enough! Yeah, he’s a nice guy now… but is he just waiting for the “right time” to “do more”?
So what’s the beef with Hillary?
How come you never say anything nice about her?
Even Obama said “You’re nice enough, Hillary” one time.
I think she will be a fantastic president… especially during these economically disastrous and war wearying times.

I am amazed at the number of commenters who have made allegations about Obama without presenting any evidence or proof. Are we all supposed to be dumb enough to believe these allegations just because it’s on a comment thread? I am especially amused about the allegations regarding attempts to take over the Chicago school system. Surely the Tribune would have noticed and provided an article you could link to? What are all these allegations about Mrs. Martin? I’m sure that if she had something against Obama the campaign would have run it up the flagpole by now. And the Walmart commenter is completely ignoring the anti-union, anti business, tactics that Walmart was engaging in back then. Now that the activists have been able to expose their record and HRC’s shameful collaboration, HRC should get a pass?
Even those who pretend to critisize HRC by bringing up Foster, etc. are trying to stifle discussion by pretending that there are no current reasons to prefer Obama to Clinton.
If Hillary is such a good person, why did she not disown, rebuke and reject Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos? Why is she actually advertising on his show? What did Bill promise in return for all those speeches? And why is she determined to destroy the Democratic Party?
The commenters who make all these claims about Obama while pretending HRC is clean as the driven snow seem to be inhabiting an alternate universe. Or be well paid by someone who wants Clinton in the White HOuse.

The media would do us all a big favor if they would stop alternating the candidate smearing they’re engaged in. This story on radical Hillary is true and accurate, well known by all the oldsters, but should have been out there on the front end of her coronation. Ten days now of jacking with Obama, we watch the move turn to 10 days of messing with Hillary, the loser. Go figure. It’s about media cashing in, by keeping Hillary alive.
She’s done.

You are one crazy commenter…
trying to make Obama the “elitist” over the ivy league millionaire wearing pearls who hasn’t had to drive herself in 30 years is a big long stretch… so that elitis title that Clinton and McCain are trying to ring around obama’s neck as he is telling everybodt healthcare is about cost not charging a fee to every single american that they will get back in a tax cut if their income is low enough…yeah these same people who choose rent or food over healthcare are really going to get help froma plan like that…
talk about out of touch elitism…
how does a massive bureaucracy bring down the costs of healthcare which right now are leadby billing costs, malpractice insurance out of control and a shortness of nurses, primary care and surgeons…never mind pharmaceutical sales and the false difference of brand drugs and generic…
Her plan addresses none of these …and preventative medicine will go to the wayside with her plan …with the bureaucracy it will take…
never mind the fact that she is doing the same things she did last time…and it failed. by making everyone buy healthcare she makes the insurance companies happy yes and that may be a way of getting congress to vote (money in their pockets from the insurance companies) but that is also a sure fire way to make sure that Massachusetts probelems effect the national scene three fold.
the problem is cost and because she hasn’t had to fight for budgeting between healthcare and food for a long time (take like 60 years) and neither have the Edwards…they don’t understand that this won’t work for those communities.
It is about cost…and only someone who has been faced with those costs seems to be able to figure that out.

Elizabeth Edwards in the NYT:
“… voters who take their responsibility to be informed seriously enough to search out information about the candidates are finding it harder and harder to do so, particularly if they do not have access to the Internet.”
The people most likely NOT to have access to the internet AND the time to seek out accurate information are, of course, the poor — among whom are the “urban”, i.e., poor, black masses.
Edwards generously notes that the media short-shrifted Biden and Dodd, early in the Democratic primaries. The person MOST shafted, however, was John Edwards, the candidate who’d be the best president if only — unlike tender candidate Obama — because Edwards made his own money, instead of being taken up in his youth and groomed, by one corporate cabal or another, for “going into politics”.
Edwards STILL is the best Democratic bet for a nominee who can win the General Election AND govern afterwards. Edwards is the real deal. And Mrs. Edwards is a goddess of bravery and rationality.

Leave it to Obama hacks in the media to not be able to tell the difference between flirting with the left-wing in your teens and twenties and choosing radical, anti-American friends and mentors in your 30s and 40s.
****************************************
LOL I have seen the Hillary supporters lash out at Obama because of his mother, Father, his name, These things are and have been out of his control.
Fact is Hillary has been all over the board from the ultra left to the ultra right with Barry Goldwater. This is the history of Hillary.
She is a mixed bag of her own choosing, She is whatever she thinks the public needs her to be or wants her to be. She talks tough, she thinks she acts tough, but she has no spine, she bends with the wind, today she is this, tomorrow? She is unstable, will not take a stand and stick with it. She is weak, insecure, a liar, a fake, a carpetbagger, politcaly expedient, and it is time for her to pay the price..

I think we know who the real deal is. Clinton friend after Clinton friend is moving to the Obama camp. The very newspaper that endorsed her rebuked her tatics. How many judases can there be before people start to understand it is the candidate herself that is the problem? You know I think many of the Clinton supporters deep inside know the truth. So they wish to say well your candidate is no better. But the truth is all these revelations you guys bring out about Obama have already been vetted by Obama supporters. We actually believe in having a candidate that we can trust so when you bring up these quote “news stories” it is nothing we did not already know. Instead of hopping on how bad you wish Obama was why not do some vetting of Mrs Clinton. I think you will really be surprised at what you find. We during this campaign see how she treats friends who she feels betrayed her she tries to run them in the mud. If you want a President who can be ruthless even with their own friends then vote Hillary Clinton 08. For me loyalty maters most. It must be nice to have a candidate that would risk loosing the election rather then disowning a man he has know for over 20 years of his life. That is the message the Yes We Can folks believe is critical for a new type of politics.

“talk about out of touch elitism…”
Look: the Obama machine is made up of “democratic centralists”. Centralists don’t like debate/conflict.
They’re “elitist” because they don’t trust democracy enough to take a chance on presenting their ideas out-front, where people can vote on them — or their actions, where people can judge them. Centralists — the other way of doing it is “egalitarian” — really DO think they’re better, smarter, purer than others, that they know what’s best, and that the easiest way to power (“for the people”, or some such conceit) — other than armed struggle — is to put forward a charismatic leader to SNOW his/her way into office. Deval Patrick and Acevedo, prototypes for “Obama”, were elected in this way — and have fallen apart in office.
Fortunately, Obama — especially when Axelrod and company aren’t running his lights and sound and “hypnotic” content — is merely baby-faced and cute, maybe too stuck on himself to be actually “charismatic”. So Obama doesn’t wear well, especially when he has to think on his feet.

well, that ought to take care of the Goldwater Girl stuff.
I don’t see anything in that list that Hillary and we supporters wouldn’t be proud of, except the commie stuff, not sure how tenuous that relationship is (worked for the law firm, etc.)
yeah, people took to the street in ’68 to fight for racial justice and anti-Viet Nam war. And yes, proud that Hillary was marching, not bombing.
and yeah, proud that Hillary helped impeach Nixon. And proud that she helped fight Bill Clinton’s impeachment as far as that goes.
She was a fighter then, and a fighter now. But not a revolutionist.
That’s the difference.

Belle Steer: it is no accident Hillary has the lowest trust worthy ness and highest negative rating of any candidate in the field. She did not start out that way she had to earn it. And earn it she did. It is no accident that there is bickering and back biting in her campaign. And I have no reason to believe she will not have the same bickering and back bitting in her administration as well.
I think of Hillary’s campaign as corporate central where only the strong survive. You have to wait for someone to screw up and then you jab the knife in their back. No wonder Hillary throws the entire Kitchen at Barack, in her world that is bussiness as usual.
For my part I want to support the campaign that can work together to get things done instead of one that looks like a Roman gladiator contest where the strongest warrior stands strong until someone stabs him or her in the back.

Should we mention your participation in funding a terrorist group

The trial that begun Friday

Should we mention the “mystery” deaths of dozens whom were to testify against your husband and youself???

or
Perhaps Norman Hsu, the fraud whom donated $850,000 to Sen. Clintons senate race???

Hillary is thought of as a fighter.
If she is, I’d tag her as a true
heavyweight. Trouble is she is so sadly
out of shape, overweight, and always
leads with the LEFT. She telegraphs
her punches and expects her opponents
to take a dive in the early rounds.
Obama apparently didn’t get the message.
I expect her to show up at the big
match in Denver with ill-fitting
trunks, Bill in her corner, and if
Lanny Davis can’t referee….a large
towel for the tears.

RS cites and links “The Chicago Daily Observer” as a Chicago newspaper. It is not a newspaper. It is a blog, whose author has no credibility whatsoever.
If there are any valid sources of information concerning authenticated links between Obama and 60s radicals that prove Obama supports and endorses bomb-throwing and other such activities, why have none been shown?
Mayor Daley served on the same civic board that Obama and Bill Ayers served on. So did a number of Republican businessmen. Why have they not all been tarred and smeared for their service with Ayers? Because serving on the same civic board with someone does not equate with embracing that person’s prior behavior or political views. People who insist otherwise are insane.

Funny thing about “Hanoi Jane”, who was the second of Hayden’s several wives. Back when Fonda was Barbarella, and wanting to do something to help stop the Viet Nam war, she went to Berkeley to find out how to be of use to the Movement, and ’twas Hayden who taught Fonda “left” politics.

Hillary Clinton is a shape shifting political whore, a genuine American Fraud without a moral compass. By any means necessary seems to be the rallyng cry of her campaign. Her cheerleaders and surrogates have even been persuaded to collaborate with her in rhetoric intentionally designed to undermine the will of the American people. Hillary is relentless and some of her supporters admire her ability to remain engaged even when the only point of her battle is to slander and dehumanize a member of her own party and the clear choice of the grassroots of her party. Hillary is the last stand of the old political guard that thinks they can scare us into selecting her.

More Obama funny money (today’s LA Times):
“Obama donor received a state grant”
“Obama’s tax returns show that he made no money from his law practice in 2000, the year of his unsuccessful run for a congressional seat. But that changed in 2001, when Obama reported $98,158 income for providing legal services. Of that, $80,000 was from Blackwell’s company … On disclosure forms for 2001 and 2002, Obama did not specify that EKI provided him with the bulk of the private-sector compensation he received … “

The fact of the matter is, HRC stood and did nothing regarding wal-mart, and if you think that associating her with the wal-mart of the present due to that past association, then you must be outraged about how she would like to call Obama a terrorist sympathizer for the ayers thing.
She is caving, she is desperate, and she has now gotten to the point where she will gladly rip this country apart with her extremism in order to win a nomination that would all but promise a defeat in February. Make no mistake, more people will turn out to vote against HRC than Obama, and more people will turn out to vote FOR Obama than support McCain. All that aside it is not only a matter of electability. She is now running on many of the same policies of the current Bush Whitehouse. Not leaving Iraq, pre-emptive strike on Iran. No social security plan beyond a committee. Health insurance instead of health care. Already working to send jobs to Columbia via NAFTA, No education plan, commitment to send US troops to defend middle east countries. No plan for Afghanistan or to get Bin Laden.

Hillary has NO moral fiber and it’s about time people are exposing her for the absolute shape-shifting hypocrite that she is!!!
BTW, she has a BLACK voting problem. She has so totally repulsed the black people of this country that she can’t possibly regain their trust–and vote.
And no Dem president has been elected without their support.
I’m an older white woman and I would NEVER vote for her.
The country is so used to being cynical and apathetic that they don’t quite know what to do when a visionary and all-inclusive politician comes along–Obama (except to mistrust him and stomp on him, which is essentially like stomping on themselves). That’s what I hate most about this country.
We mistrust hope and spirit and empathy.I suppose because it’s so rare.
But I ultimately trust in the people to come around.
Yes, we can.

The Clintons are the most insincere people to ever live in America.
The Clintons will do anything and say anything.
Hillary worked for Walmart and was in attendance during meetings where Walmart executives blamed unions for all of America’s problems. Walmart sells our country to China. Hillary’s past shows she will continue selling American jobs to other countries.
Hillary was quoted in the 1990′s as telling Bill to “screm them” when talking about southern Democrats, now she wants Democrats in North Carolina and West Virginia to vote for her.
Hillary voted for the Iraq war. She had the opportunity to read the report before voting, but did not. She still has not apologized for that mistake.
Hillary voted for the bankruptcy legislation in 2001. This legislation has given hundreds of millions of dollars to loan companies, including the wonderful mortgage companies that lied about loan terms and have been evicting Americans.
Look at Hillary’s top three campaign staff.
Maggie Williams is on the board for a top mortgage company involved in foreclosures.
Wolfson’s company is working for Colombia.
Penn’s company was working for Colombia before he was caught meeting with them.
A top Hillary fundraiser (worked with Canada under Bill Clinton) was caught telling Canada to ignore what Hillary said about NAFTA.

Hilary Clinton has now become one of the same old time politicians who will do everything she can to take anyone down. Bill Clinton had a softer side to him. Hilary does not. She is known for being very vindictive. I know she attempts to portray she is interested. I don’t think so – I have read and researched lots. I find her very scarey!! Just my opinion!!
I have read about all of these same facts. And sadly they are true. I live here in California and remember well those years. The antiwar movement was strong here in San Francisco Bay Area. I was never involved, but demonstrations were all over. I was a new college graduate from midwest and was quite shocked. Communist labels were applied quickly. Whether justified or not, I am not sure. FBI was coming down hard. Many labels were probably unjustified and FBI ruined people rampantly. I believe we now refer to it as “McCarthy
Style.” Everyone today agrees Vietnam war was big mistake.
During those days young Hilary Clinton did become involved. Yes she did work for this radically labeled law firm located here in San Francisco or Oakland. The Hilary Clinton of today has become a very vindictive Senator displaying everything she once despised. She also worked for Goldwater who supported segregation. Seems she has changed sides a few times in finding herself.
I am waiting to see what the Bill and Hilary Clinton’s arrangement with Richard Mellon Scaife of Pennsylvania plays out to be. Don’t forget Richard Scaife is the one behind financing the take down of President Bill Clinton. Scaife’s right wing newspaper endorsing Hilary Clinton for 2008 Pennsylvania Primary was shocking. Scaife is member of a powerful Republican group that takes care of things and gets people into office. Destroys people. Just gets it done. And done secretly behind the scenes. Voters we need to keep our eyes open. I do know in Pennsylvania some pretty dirty underground tricks were played. One thing they did was send flyers to all unions to disperse “red alert” Barack Obama associates with terrorists and ad directed them to FBI site. Pretty blatant campaign abuse! And released just before election voting. Good chance these were sent to many more people as well.
William Ayers connection is slim and nothing. Events mentioned happened 40 years ago. Barack Obama was youngster at that time. Have checked everything else as well.
Hilary Clinton has become a person who seems to not follow rules and will lie rampantly.

In late sixties, early seventies fighting for civil rights seems pretty gutsy to me.
Representing Black Panthers in still (de facto) segregated America ….
I hate all the campaigns tactics. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to play the way our opponent allows us to. Maybe she would stick back only to the issues if she didn’t have to explain to her voters that those e-mails e.g. about her health plan are false. And attacks like that happen in every single state!!!

Tom Hayden needs to keep quiet, he has no shame. He betrayed the wife, Jane Fonda who financially supported him and his politics all of those years. Now, I guess he needs attention. There is a lot of difference between a lawyer defending an individualo who expouses a particular political philosophy, no matter how wrong and an individual who actually set off bombs to kill people and cause anarchy.

One thing we should keep in mind is that the Clintons are in this election for their own financial gain, not for the good of the party, not for the good of the country. Unlike Jimmy Carter or Al Gore, upon leaving the office, Bill chose to become a lobbyist for China, Qatar, Canada, Colombia promoting trade deals that ship american jobs overseas. The Cintons made $109 millions. Now the want to go back to the White House by all means necessary to use the power of the presidency to continue to enrich themselves.

This thread reminds me of the election of Governor Patrick of Massachusetts. He was attcked for his legal work in defense of someone convicted of rape and someone accused of murder. The Republican opponent was rabid with inflammatory ads. Note, John Adams defended the British prosecuted in the Boston Massacre. Here is an excerpt from the Boston Globe:
They are the pinstriped professionals the public loves to hate, the butt of cocktail party jokes, the easy targets who rank near car salesmen and telemarketers on most people’s lovability scale.
And in this year’s gubernatorial campaign, their calling — defending the accused — has become fodder for a fusillade of Republican attacks against the Democratic nominee, Deval L. Patrick , who wrote letters on behalf of a convicted rapist and defended an admitted cop killer.
Now, the lawyers of Massachusetts are fighting back.
Horrified to see Patrick, a fellow member of the bar, pilloried for the convicts he has defended, litigators, prosecutors, and defense lawyers are rushing to defend the candidate — and the nobility of their profession.
The Massachusetts Association of Court Appointed Attorneys is circulating a memo calling Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey’s attacks an assault on the Constitution. The presidents of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association have penned an opinion piece noting that John Adams defended the British troops accused of murdering patriots at the Boston Massacre. And tomorrow , Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, the leading trade publication in the state, will endorse Patrick for governor, the first time it has backed a candidate for political office in its 34-year history.
Lawyers say that Healey’s targeting of their profession has become the main topic of conversation in wood-paneled offices and district court lobbies from Pittsfield to Provincetown.
“There are a lot of angry lawyers out there,” said David L. Yas , editor and publisher of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
The source of the ire: two ads from the Healey campaign that highlight Patrick’s legal work. One takes aim at Patrick’s defense of Carl Ray Songer , an escaped convict who murdered a state trooper on a Florida highway in 1973. As a lawyer for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in 1985, Patrick argued successfully that Songer was not able to present evidence of his character and education in court, and Songer’s death sentence was reduced to life in prison.
“While lawyers have a right to defend admitted cop killers, do we really want one as our governor?” the ad asks.
The other ad spotlights Patrick’s efforts, as a lawyer in private practice, to support the parole petition of Benjamin LaGuer , who was convicted in 1984 of binding his 59-year-old neighbor with a telephone cord and raping her.
“What kind of person defends a brutal rapist?” the ad asks.
Yas said lawyers “regard these ads as misinformed, distasteful, and insulting and in some ways they might even be disingenuous.”

Belle Starr,
Here is a snippet on Hayden:
“As his former fellow radical David Horowitz recalled:
Hayden and I were deadly serious about our revolutionary agendas.
During the Vietnam War, Tom traveled many times to North Vietnam,
Czechoslovakia and Paris to meet communist North Vietnamese and Viet
Cong leaders. He came back from Hanoi proclaiming he had seen “rice
roots democracy at work.” (…) Hayden offered tips on conducting
psychological warfare against the U.S. He arranged trips to Hanoi for
Americans perceived as friendly to the Communists and blocked entry
to those seen as unfriendly, like the sociologist Christopher Jencks.
He attacked as “propaganda’ stories of torture and labeled American
POWs returning home with such stories as “liars.”
And Hayden’s “revolutionary” activities were not confined to
traitorous oversees excursions:
On the domestic front, Hayden advocated urban rebellions and called
for the creation of “guerrilla focos” to resist police and other law
enforcement agencies. For a while he led a Berkeley commune called
the “Red Family,” whose “Minister of Defense” trained commune members
at firing ranges and instructed high school students in the use of
explosives. He was also an outspoken supporter of the violence-prone

That’s just not quite right. Paper (or a computer keyboard) will lie still and let you write anything on it, but try to become informed about this, if you’re putting any appreciable energy into believing the blarney of candidate Obama — the years-long association among Ayers-Dohrn-Obama (and a huge chunk of corporate cash channeled through Ayers’ father) was about “education”, not “poverty”.

TO Wake Up America and Just Musing. I hear you.
However, these people don’t want to hear the truth, because it makes them look at themselves for wanting to vote those people back into office. They don’t want a black man cleaning up the “mess” that Bush/Clinton/Clinton/ Bush/Bush left behind. How would that look to the American people, he was able to turn things around for the America, in a way they couldn’t. If the Clinton’s were allowed back into office, their scandal would most definitely disappear and they won’t be held accountable. That’s what is soooo sickening about this campaign. It’s like their scandal doesn’t exist. Why the superdelegates are allowing this contest to continue is beyond me, it’s tearing the party apart and it’s denigrating a man that only wanted to see that the American people have a better future. These so called analysts keep saying that Obama wants to speak to our enemies and it would give them the wrong idea. If we didn’t act so arrogant all the time and spoke to these people about peace, maybe we would not be waiting for their next nuclear bomb to drop. Hillary is talking about pulverizing Iran, that’s more of the Bush talk. I don’t get these people, they are soooo ready to spill blood, they are no better the people we are fighting right now in Iraq.

Belle Starr,
Yes, that is the Deval Patrick. However, the point of my post was the groudswell for him in response to attacks for his work as a criminal defense lawyer, like Clinton. Mass. Bar Assoc, Mass Assoc of Cout Appointed Attorneys, Boston Bar Association are made up of civil and crim. Defense attorneys and Republicans and Democrats. Yet, they came together to defend Patrick against the attacks on the legal profession.
It is one thing to be a lawyer, as guaranteed by the 6th Amendment to the United States Constitution, and quite another thing to be a bomber, robber, anarchist, like Ayres.

Hillary’s connections to the violent revolutionary left includes at least one of the members of the Weather Underground her husband pardoned.
In a September 6, 2001 online article of the Jewish World Review, David Horowitz has this to say about Hillary’s connection with Linda Evans(one of the WU pardonees, she was caught in 1985 with 740 lbs of dynamite and had been sentenced to 40 years in prison):
“The agent of her mercy was New York congressman Jerry Nadler, one of President Clinton’s staunchest defenders during the impeachment process and one of Sen. Clinton’s chief supporters during her election bid. ”
Whatever Hillary claims to have known or not known about that pardon then, I wonder no one is asking if she approves of the pardon today.

Well, Rosenberg and Evans DID spend 16 years in PRISON. And the people who instigated it all, Ayers and Dohrn, protected by the Ayers’ big $, didn’t even face serious charges.
Wonder whether someone was standing by to supply Rosenberg and Evans with cushy academic positions, book contracts, and all that … Maybe Ayers? Maybe Tom Hayden? :^)

“Sounds like Jane Fonda was her role model.”
Don’t know about THAT, but Jane Fonda was a culture hero to many young women, in those days. Thousands of women — “girls”, really –in the Berkeley/San Francisco area cut their Joan-Baez-lookalike hair to adopt the Fonda shag cut.

This is Hayden’s ham-headed attempt to red-bait Clinton, to confuse the story of Obama’s long relationship with the rich-kid Weathermen.
Well, Obama’s boy dinging Clinton for supporting Bobby Seale is particularly contemptible. If I didn’t have to go cook supper, I’d track down HAYDEN’s contemporary remarks on Bobby Seale.
Guess Obama only goes for rich WHITE radicals: Barry’s FIRST foray into electoral politics was an attempt to unseat former Panther Bobbie Rush in Chicago. Obama lost, 2-to-1.
After that, Obama adopted the strategy he’s still using, of bullying everybody else off the ballot.

@Dan,
“Hillary worked for Walmart and was in attendance during meetings where Walmart executives blamed unions for all of America’s problems. Walmart sells our country to China. Hillary’s past shows she will continue selling American jobs to other countries.”
It would be difficult to dislike Hillary more than I do but there are some additional qualifications I’d like to make regarding your comments.
Hillary may very well have gone along with Walmart’s profit motives regarding US union labor v. China, but it wouldn’t have worked had not so many Americans shopped there – including, I bet, lots of union members. If we the people would buy American we could have stopped this in it’s infancy.

Tom Hayden has a good memory. But I do too. I was there in Chicago in ’68 as well, only I was a campaigner for Gene McCarthy trying to stop the war by working within the political process, not in the streets trying to tear the country apart. I understood the frustration that so many of my friends and co-conspirators felt at that divisive time, but I was never very comfortable with confrontation for confrontations sake.
I have great respect for Hillary and Bill Clinton because they have always worked within the system as well. They are both liberal people who understand that great change in politics demands skillful compromise. They are both appreciate the realities that face any administration that wishes to move the American government and electorate in a different direction.
I didn’t fundamentally disagree with Tom and the rest of the signers of the SDS manifesto, the Port Huron Statement, some 40 years ago because I thought their goals were the same as mine, although their means were a bit more radical. I’ve watched as Tom mellowed in his later years – still on the far left, but solidly within the visible spectrum of political thought.
I don’t think Hillary has mellowed. I still see her in the same light as when she came to Washington 16 years ago. What I think has happened to her is that she has learned how to play the game…and she plays it pretty well.
I haven’t decided whether to support Hillary or Obama yet, (my favored candidate chose not to run) but I believe we will be well served by either.
Let’s just get on with it and debate the issues.

Funny how one of the commenters went off on “Hanoi” Jane Fonda… who, incidentally, Hillary Clinton supporter.
Last I heard, Ayers was just this guy who was once on the board of a quite respectable local Chicago charity along with Obama and about a dozen other people, and not an Obama supporter at all… whereas Hanoi Jane “hopes for a Hillary Clinton presidency” and donated $2000 to her campaign. She was even one of those people who donated to the Clintons in order to stay in the Lincoln Bedroom.
So, in what way isn’t that a considerably closer friendship / financial partnership to Hillary?

Stop trying to kill the messenger boys and girls. Tom Hayden had a decent run as a CA State Assemblyman and he has as much right to his opinions as any of us on this post!. Hillary Clinton is a liar flat out with no sugar-coating and she will change up her story the moment she seems to be in trouble. She has with her vaunted 35 years experience run the worst primary race campaign for someone who was the frontrunner that anyone can remember. Hayden has told the truth. I suspect given Hillary’s supporters inability to acknowledge her out and out pandering and lying…she deserves them as her supporters and they deserve her as their candidate. But the outcome is going to be different this time folks…the rest of us are not willing the take the hit for your misguided commitment to a woman who would drop the lot of you today, if we offered her the nomination to do just that. Remember Hill supporters, you are simply a means to an end. The corporations own Mrs. Clinton lock stock and barrel.

Couple of things…
1. Please don’t cite a blog as “proof” of your view. Yes, computer keyboards lie still and let you write anything you want- and the same goes for blogs written by those with a personal view to push, regardless of how preposterous it may be…
2. If you find a blog or other source that intrigues you, please check other sources to confirm the information included within. That’s called “research and verification”, folks. It is what us pros do. If you can’t find that confiration, then don’t trust the info in the blog until you can…
3. Maybe it is just me, but why wouldn’t we want a president who is willing to listen to and interact with people from all political views? Isn’t gathering input from different sources before making a decision something we want a good leader to do? Would you rather have an adminsitration made up of one person belieivng the are the sole source of knowledge and them being surrounding by boot-licking yes-men lackeys? We’ve had that for the past 8 years and it hyasn’t worked out so well…

Posted by: Predator | April 28, 2008, 1:45 pm 1:45 pm
Attention America! We must not allow our nation to be divided by politicians seeking election or media outlets seeking “Hot” stories to gain advertising dollars.
Other than the indigenous people, all other Americans came from some other nation and brought with them a corresponding cultural influence. A casual observation would reflect English, Irish, Italian, Polish, French, Chinese, Spanish and yes African traditions interwoven into the fabric which is America. Our pre-American origins and traditions are as important too us as family history. We should not be required to abandon who we are nor should we seek to destroy the cultural heritage of other Americans.
The beauty of America is its diversity and the ability of this diverse population to love this country. What makes us unique as Americans is the flavoring we receive from exposure to this diversity. What make us strong is the ability of our citizens to rally in defense of the promise of our Constitution and our common interest.
As a nation we are faced with some of the greatest challenges in our history. To overcome these challenges we must unite our people. Do not be deceived… the real enemies of America are those that seek to weaken us using the age old “Divide and conquer” strategy. “United we stand…Divided we fall”.

Either way… Are you kidding me? Is that the best the left in this country has to offer?
GOD help us all….
Posted by: Brian | April 28, 2008, 1:56 pm 1:56 pm
Hillary is just too plain negative and she has far too much baggage for the nation to herald her as someone with a fresh perspective. Ditto for McCain who spent most of his politicla life decrying the platforms he has now been forced to choose as the GOP nominee.
Obama is the only rational choice. It’s is Obama’s policies that will lead the nation. It is not the spiritual reckoning with Christ that was assisted by Wright nor is it the work of the charitable foundation board on which he served with Ayers.
America is great at finding distractions to problems. For once, make a generational change that will scream out we want better. We demand better.
Obama is a leader that we cand hol dup and who will restore the shine of America on the world stage once again.
Taking that chance is well worth it.

The mind-numbing uniformity of candidates for any high office these days is truly stultifying. There is no appreciable difference between Clinton and Obama, and McCain is just another rich white guy (not that I have anything against rich white guys) whose belief that government has the cure for whatever ails you differs little fundamentally from what the Democrats offer. You want real change? How about a smaller government that intrudes less on our personal lives and takes less out of our pockets. Now that would be REAL change.

Mutual funds in 401Ks do pay capital gains by the fund managers when they sell positions as they rearrange their portfolis. And, if investors in stocks that make up the mutual funds are going to pay more in taxes, that would discourage them investing in those stocks they will park their money elsewhere which indirectly affect stocks in funds. Chill out dude, Rev. Wright and Howard Dean are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic aka the Democrat Party. And the band played on…

Guffaw!
Pseudo-tough China comments, to the extent that her campaign’s China policy adviser recently resigned in protest. Richard Baum resigned in light of what he called “grossly misguided accusations” made by Clinton about China. “As a lifelong Democrat, it saddens me that Sen. Clinton has chosen to take the low road in her effort to gain our party’s presidential nomination.”
Clinton said this on 4/22/08: “I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran….In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally OBLITERATE them.”
—————
And this from HRC in 4/16/08 PA Debate:
“I think that we should be looking to create an umbrella of deterrence that goes much further than just Israel. Of course I would make it clear to the Iranians that an attack on Israel would incur MASSIVE RETALIATION from the United States, but I would do the same with other countries in the region.”
————
This drew incredulous reaction from many, including this one from nuclear deterrence theorist George E. Lowe, who wrote the book “The Age of Deterrence” and has won awards for his writing on nuclear deterrence:
“Who the HELL is she talking to? Whose IDEAS are these”, Lowe asked me, rhetorically, “[Wesley] Clark didn’t seem to know anything about this; he was blindsided. So where did these crazy, dangerous ideas come from? Look, I’ve been in this business for fifty years, I know nuclear deterrence. She had to have been talking to somebody like Doug Coe or his elite inner circle.”
[NOTE: Coe is the head of the Washington-based Christian fundamentalist group 'The Family,' first covered at length in Jeff Sharlet's 2003 Harper's story 'Jesus Plus Nothing: Undercover Among America's Secret Theocrats.'"Book is out this May.]
It was conjecture, and Lowe would be the first to admit that, but he would also stick to his call pegging Clinton’s “nuclear umbrella” as a fast track to global nuclear war.
Nuclear weapons can’t be used as “umbrellas.” That’s nuts, an idea one would have expected from SAC head General Curtis LeMay, parodied in Dr. Strangelove. Today, one would expect it from a Neocon.
And this reaction from conservative David Books on MTP:
“I’m amazed…that it didn’t become a bigger issue. Because what it says, I think, to a lot of Americans, two Arab countries or two Middle Eastern countries get in a war and we’re going to get in the middle of it?..I don’t know why she would’ve said it, what policy thinking behind it was. It seems to me extremely perilous.”
————-
Add to that MANDATED health care….
So, moderation in all things and taking the middle road EXCLUDES Sen. Clinton!
