It was indeed weird.
Weirder still when I heard it myself in real life eight years ago.
The scene came from my book about the recount.
(Here’s the page in question, courtesy of Google Books. You may note that in real life the guy chanting the impugning of Messrs. Brokaw and Jennings’s hair had a bald spot himself. And he wasn’t holding a Bush/Cheney sign, but rather was hyping the conservative website Newsmax.com.)
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: it was all so weird down there, the reality can sometimes seem over-the-top.
