Blogging the West Virginia primary by The Note’s Rick Klein
9:29 pm ET: This is a slow-counting state — so we’ll see the numbers trickle in overnight. But this is everything she could have hoped this night would be.
That’s it for tonight — check back tomorrow, as always, for the latest in politics in The Note.
And I’ll be guest-blogging through the rest of this week for Jake Tapper at "Political Punch" — so stay tuned.
9:25 pm ET: Does it change any games? Well — no. But the game is still being played — which is really what Sen. Clinton can count on as a victory under the circumstances.
9:20 pm ET: This does not sound like a candidate who’s looking at exit strategies — it’s a candidate who is still plotting a path to victory. Not surprising on one level. This struck me as a good, solid Clinton tone — talking about her rationale, while not tearing Obama down.
This is her ticket to staying in the race as long as she wants — or at least another three weeks.
9:17 pm ET: Here’s a potentially stronger message to supers: "The question is, why do so many Democrats keep voting?"
9:15 pm ET: (Just noticed that the Clinton campaign has prominently placed one of the very few black West Virginians to support Hillary conveniently off Clinton’s left shoulder, in camera range.)
9:14 pm ET: Your message to supers: "The White House is won in the swing states — and I am winning the swing states."
9:11 pm ET: Now she’s using 2,209 as the magic number in a victory speech! Rather remarkable — and suggests that she’s not just biding her time until she drops out.
9:09 pm ET: Took about two minutes to get to the Website shout-out. Money remains the single biggest reason that Hillary Clinton might get out of the race before June 3.
9:07 pm ET: Clinton’s first words: "Like the song says, it’s almost heaven."
"We know from the Bible that faith can move mountains." Yes — but can it move superdelegates?
8:59 pm ET: Clinton’s speech is — finally — imminent. They are milking this moment, as is their right.
8:27 pm ET: Every word from Sen. Clinton will matter here — the way to push herself out of this race is to upset the supers. There are elements in her campaign that want her to get more aggressive, like she was a month or two ago — but that may not be the right play any longer.
8:21 pm ET: From ABC’s David Wright, traveling with the Obama campaign: Obama called Clinton to congratulate her from his campaign plane: "He didn’t reach her. Left a message, we’re told."
Think they have each other’s direct-dial cell phone numbers? Do they text each other? "UR G8 IN WV HIL – BO."
8:16 pm ET: From ABC’s Eloise Harper, who’s with the Clinton campaign in Charleston tonight: "The crowd is chanting ‘Its not over, Its not over!!’ at the Charleston, WV Election night party. There are about 200 people here waiting for Clinton to speak. Loud cheers in the room when the TV screen announced Clinton the winner."
Her speech should start soon.
8:03 pm ET: A lot of folks chatting in the comments secion about racist voters — surely there’s some of that going on, like in those who say race is a major factor and they couldn’t see themselves voting for Obama. But I’m not willing to accept that those voters are a large enough cohort to win this state for Clinton, certainly not to give her a landslide.
We have seen in state after state Obama’s inability to connect with working-class Democrats who happen to be white — that seems to be more of what’s going on. West Virginia is a poor, heavily unionized state — and remember that Al Gore and John Kerry failed to connect in the general election in the state. Nobody called that racist.
7:55 pm ET: Jason — you make good points about what Obama can/should do next. This does transfer a piece of the psychological burden from Clinton to Obama — the pressure shifts to him to answer this, in a broad sense. If he doesn’t keep the super train running, the question will quickly become, why? That said, Clinton still has HUGELY more pressure to keep her momentum going, if this is still going to be a race.
7:48 pm ET: I’m flipping between the cable channels tonight and just struck by the tone of the coverage — it tells you again that nothing creates the perception of momentum like a victory. One week ago, commentators all said it was over. Now, we’re back to superdelegates and demographic challenges. What’s changed, precisely?
7:37 pm ET: A thought on what Clinton could use right now: A handful of superdelegate endorsements to roll out — to show, not say, that people are having second thoughts about Obama. She wouldn’t need that many — maybe three or four, with nice statements saying, we need the strongest Democrat possible to take on John McCain.
Without that, the argument remains, for now, just words.
7:32 pm ET: There you have it — it’s going to be a big win for Clinton. "She almost certainly stays in ’til Kentucky and Oregon next Tuesday," ABC’s George Stephanopoulos says. I’d argue that this could keep her in longer than that — right through June 3.
7:30 pm ET: ABC PROJECTS WEST VIRGINIA FOR CLINTON, right at poll closing time, "by a large margin," per our decision desk.
6:59 pm ET: One number to keep in the back of the mind tonight: 104,000. That’s the popular-vote differential by which Obama is ahead of Clinton (including the disputed votes in Florida and Michigan). If West Virginia votes at similar rates to other states, we can expect about 270,000 ballots today. To get close to a 100,000-vote win, Clinton would have to win by better than 2-1 — certainly possible. And if she comes close, that leaves her in striking distance for next week’s contests, in Oregon (where Obama is favored), and Kentucky (where Clinton should win).
As we’ve said before in this space, counting Florida and Michigan (particularly Michigan) is problematic at best. But if Clinton has an argument left, if she’s able to say, "more Democrats have voted for me," that’s not nothing.
6:20 pm ET: Obama is facing a perfect (or perfectly terrible) demographic storm in West Virginia. A good measure of racially motivated voting, and then add this from the preliminary exit polls, per ABC’s Gary Langer: "About half of voters said that at least to some extent he shares the views of his controversial former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright; fewer though, two in 10, thought he shares ‘a lot’ of views with Wright. About half also doubted Obama’s honesty and trustworthiness, turning the tables on an attribute on which Clinton more often has come up short."
Will the Obama campaign be addressing this — at all — tonight? Probably not. But surely they know they have real problems, not just in West Virginia, either.6:16 pm ET: A rather prominent flag pin is on Obama’s lapel, for the second straight day. Here’s guessing he won’t lose it until after the general election.
5:56 pm ET: Obama is spending primary night in Missouri. In the prepared text of his speech, set to begin shortly, the word "McCain" appears five times. The word "Clinton" is somehow absent.
5:52 pm ET: An interesting note, from ABC’s Teddy Davis: "Early voting in West Virginia was three times higher than the last Democratic presidential primary. Today’s voting, by contrast, was normal/average in most counties — a possible sign that the coverage of the last week, which portrayed Obama as a lock on the nomination, dampened enthusiasm from the incredibly high level at which it was operating."
That would make a big Clinton win even more remarkable, no?
5:49 pm ET: Some early spin from the Obama campaign, on what could be an early night: "There is no question that Senator Clinton is going to win by huge margins in the upcoming primaries in West Virginia today and Kentucky next weeks. She has poured resources into both states and she, former President Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton have all campaigned extraordinarily hard there.
"The Clinton campaign has already been touting their margins in these states â In fact, Bill Clinton said that Hillary can win West Virginia with 80 percentâand the West Virginia Senate Majority Leader said Clinton needs to win by ’80-20 or 90-10.’ And in keeping large margins in perspective, it is worth noting that, while Senator Clinton will win big in West Virginia, Barack Obama won neighboring Virginia by 29 points.
"But with 49 contests behind us and only six to go — including several states where we expect to do well — Barack Obama leads in pledged delegates, contests won, and superdelegates. And for perspective, while 28 pledged delegates are up for grabs this evening, Obama has won the support of 27 superdelegates in the course of just the last week putting him less than 150 total delegates away from clinching the Democratic nomination."
My take — aside from the fact that Clinton doesn’t have to win by anywhere near those margins for this to be a good night for her — that’s all well and good, but none of this answers the demographic challenges that are showing themselves, again, in West Virginia. This may be as hostile an electorate as Obama will face, certainly this late in the primary season. But what makes this (expected) loss different from all others is that this is the first contest since the media has (and that’s for a separate debate) delcared this race to be over. Someone forgot to tell Democratic voters in a swing state.
—————————
Rick Klein here from ABC’s The Note. I’ll be live-blogging tonight, with the latest from the exit polls, vote returns, and from our reporters in the field during the West Virginia primary.
A few thoughts — first, as you know from reading the coverage coming into the day, this isn’t about who wins, but about by how much. We can debate the margin Sen. Clinton needs to "win" by, but the very fact that she’s going to win — and probably win big — says something important about the holes that remain in Sen. Obama’s coalition. Tonight is unlikely to change the outcome of the nomination fight, but it’s rather remarkable that Sen. Clinton is set to win big in a swing state despite the fact that most of the big-time media talking heads have spent the last six days declaring the race over.
Second — an argument being advanced by the Clinton campaign regarding the importance of West Virginia. From a memo sent by the Clinton campaign today: "no Democrat has won the White House without winning West Virginia since 1916." Leaving aside the question of whether winning the primary has any relation to how you do in the general — John Kerry did just fine in the 2004 West Virginia primary, but these weren’t his peeps in the general — this strikes me as a dangerous sort of comparison for Clinton to make.
The same comparison — Democrats not winning without the states since 1916 — could be said for Minnesota and Missouri as well. Your winner in both of those states? Obama.

Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
rick, ah yes, but WV is very very different from Minnesota and Missouri, and Hillary only lost Missouri by a small margin. In the GE, Hillary will likely take Minn and MIssouri, however, Obama will NOT win WV or Kentucky. How big is that? that is HUGE. If you don’t think so, let’s see what you say if Obama loses the GE by 12 electoral votes. i bet he woudl thinkk WV and Kentucky are important then. Hillary will win Obama’s states; Obama can NOT win Hillary’s states. Plain and simple math. How bad do the Dems want the whitehouse?
Posted by: doublestandard | May 13, 2008, 4:30 pm 4:30 pm
The argument is full of crap. If a primary was held where there was a huge percentage of Blacks, Students, Independents, and higher income democrates then Obama would win by the same margin. The fact is they will not both be running in the general election thus to lose a primary does not mean you will lose in the general. Ask Bill Clinton!!!

I am truly amazed by the small-mindedness of Americans and especially Democrats. Do you really think Clinton doesn’t have a game plan here? Do you think she’s just spending money on furthering this out of pride??
Of course not. The Clintons are politically very smart people. Hillary is hoping to squeeze out a popular vote lead against Obama. Sure, she’ll try to consider MI in that, but if she manages to come close or virtually tie, let alone lead, Obama after factoring in all states but MI, she has a very good case.
Pundits and politicans are fickle. What could people say if the person who won the popular vote (even after subtracting MI) lost the nomination? There would simply be outrage, and dems would have hypocrisy on their hands.
This should be intersting. We’ll see if she can catch up in popular votes.

I was born and raised in Missouri and I can tell you a lot of Obama voters are very sorry they did not know everything that came out about Obama after that primary. Buyers remorse voters will put Missouri in the Republican Red column in November
Posted by: carlanbl | May 13, 2008, 4:41 pm 4:41 pm
If you really want an accurate estimate of the Obama McCain match-upin November, then you must poll the Obama win states now and check out the buyers remorse factor. Voters feel they were lied to by omission. Clinton just may have a chance to save those states for the blue column. But Obama will not get the sAME MARGIN NOW

ja – u are correct – i almost feel likethe pundits and the DNC are trying to push Obama down our throats… it should be interesting if she has the popular vote with and without MI
and what happens to all the pundits who hate the clintons but won’t admit that the DNC’s nominating process has most likely picked the weaker candidate… i do not think it is lost on the DNC that – if they used the repubican method – Hillary would have been the nominee a long time ago

The fact that the media continues to downplay every Clinton victory is very telling. When Obama wins there are banner headlines but when Clinton wins it’s “so what.”

http://www.savagepolitics.com/?p=387
If you don’t have time to read the whole commentary, just skip to the final paragraph:
“This season’s discussion will not be about whether racism is “right” or “wrong”, since this should be quite easy to determine, but about REALITY. It is simply naive to believe that a few Liberals will be able to change World History in a single sweep, all with the single candidacy of an unknown political candidate who so happens to be a minority. This simple reality will hand them their defeat in November, and in the process will drive a bigger racial wedge into this Nation, all of it to make these individuals feel ‘good about themselves’ and their efforts to give the Presidency to ANY non-White candidate that the Democratic Party threw their way”
So let’s GET REAL!

If Obama was a done deal all of the superdelegates would have pledged. The fact they haven’t is the most telling sign. Once Hillary has the popular vote then what? Obama Pelosi Kennedy and the rest of the gang always said you can’t over turn the will of the people. Is that delegate count or voters? If they want to go with states won and delegate count then the super delegates should have to pledge to their state winner. That should go over well with Kennedy Kerry and Richardson and Pelosi too.
Posted by: maryintampa | May 13, 2008, 5:17 pm 5:17 pm
Obama won in Minnesota in part because it was a caucus state, and he has done well in caucuses. He has done less well in primaries and eked out a one point victory in Missouri, thanks to the fact that while blacks there voted in a bloc, whites did not.
Had the DNC not ‘punished’ Michigan and Florida, Clinton would have won both handily (check the polls going into the primaries there and remember Clinton wins big state primaries, Obama wins small state and black-majority state primaries), giving her four victories in January to Obama’s two. With her Super Tuesday victories, she would have been well ahead.
Flip the order of the states — put the Appalachian primaries (W. Va. and Ky.) where the Potomoc primaries were scheduled, and Clinton would be well ahead at this point.
It is almost tempting to see something like stacking the electoral deck by the DNC to assure a ‘black’ candidate. . . . but Dean and the DNC would never do anything like that, would they? Nor disqualify two major states out of spite?

the thing is Pelosi,Dean et all know that full well but dotn want to alienate this “vast new electorate” that BO has… I think its a myth like the vast right wing conspiracy! 2.RACE.
3. TIES TO ANTI-AMERICAN PEOPLE.
4.NO EXPERIENCE.

Anyway Obama is leading for the moment. let Hillary catch him before we talk about all these expectations. Dems can’t build their decision on expectations when there is reality. But try all to be democratic an accept the democratic and logic result . You don’t have to be afraid whenever you are not out of law. But forcing everything according to your feeling wont help in anything but division. thans

The Dnc is dead wrong if they actually think we are only voting for Clinton out of some kind of allegiance to the Clinton’s. We are behind her because she stands for the average working white majority. If she doesn”t get the nomination Not THE DNC OR THE OBAMABOTS OR EVEN CLINTON herself can make us believe Obama is electable. McCain is more exeperienced than Obama.

You are so right Neil 1785 about the biased media….
Right in the middle of today’s Internet news media articles regarding Hillary’s anticipated blowout in West Virginia (one of the most beautiful states I have ever visited I might add….GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!), there was a big article posted from an Oregon newspaper bragging about how Obama leads Hillary there by 20 points in the polls and what a victory he’ll have next week. Like the media can’t even allow Hillary ONE day in the sun without posting some wonderful story about their golden boy.
Like you said: biased media.
The only reason so many superdelagates have gone into Obama’s column during the last week is because the MEDIA (starting with Mr. Russert) began proclaiming Obama was already the Democratic nominee….simply because he won North Carolina by 14 points (earlier polls had him at 20++), which he was expected to do, and Hillary won Indiana, which she was NOT expected to do (late Zogby polls there had OBAMA ahead by 2 or more points….)
The media deck has been stacked against Hillary from day one and continues to do so……..

OBAMA SAYS THAT HE’S GONNA CLEAN UP/TRASH OLD TRADITIONAL POLITICS FROM WASHINGTON/WHITE HOUSE. DON’T MAJORITY OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY MEMBERS LIKE PELOSI, KENNEDY, KERRY, RICHARDSON, MCGOVERN REALIZE THAT THEY ARE ALSO PART OF TRADITIONAL POLITICS HE’S TALKING. BE VERY AFRAID OF THIS MAN. HE CAN DO THINGS WE CAN’T IMAGINE IF HE’S IN FULL POWER.

The fact that a coup d’etat, took 2 elections by fraud(2000 FL,2004 OH etal), and hammered a doting MAINSCREAM media into the corner to whimper their talking points for them, means comparing history to anything from here on out, is meaningless drivel. I find the Clinton supporters fascinating, and their blog anger, quite revealing. Florida and Michigan missed out on a super primary season, that many states have enjoyed being a part of, and counting, in a big way. West Virginia, can make a statement about their state, which we will total up in a few hours. The best part of this election will be that the MAINSCREAM media hates a landslide and will do all they can to prop up McCain and avoid one. Just watch each day at how they do this and feign surprise when you call them out on the carpet, for their drooling explanations. Trust me on this prediction, folks…CASE CLOSED…NEXT!!!!!

The Democrats have the wrong nominee, plain and simple! What good is it to have a nominee that can’t win any of the states that matter?! By showing that Clinton has won all of the swing states needed for a Democratic victory, it only proves that point. With all of the hostility and unfairness (not Clinton’s fault by the way), it is just going to go for McCain, meaning it will only help his victory. If Obama can’t win the swing states in the primary against a person he has outspent in large margins, then how can he possibly hope to win it in the fall?!!!

I read that the Republicans have a 1,000 page dossier on Obama. And they have had investigators in Chicago researching how Obama made his rise through politics. Would be an interesting read but I’m sure they’re waiting to release information until after Obama formally gets the nomination in August. That’s also why the Republicans have had a strategy to cross over and vote for Obama. http://www.thecityedition.com/Pages/Archive/Winter08/2008Election
Hillary is #1
McCain is #2
Obama is zero

Yeah sorry, a whole 7 points for Oregon isn’t really needed to win! Try Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, something with a little more point value! Oh yeah and who won those states- that’s right Clinton! As for Kentucky and WV, it will certainly be a lot closer than what the Democratic primary results will be and those 2 are only 13 points! You need 270 points, which require a lot bigger states. Besides, what about the fact that Obama had large support in the South and those are all Republican states?!
Posted by: A | May 13, 2008, 6:53 pm 6:53 pm
A: Texas will go Republican in the fall….as for the southern states, Obama actually has a good chance of winning Louisiana and a STRONG chance of winning Virginia and Georgia.

A – you just said it all. How can the DNC justify nominating Obama when he clearly cannot appeal to the MAJORITY of their own party? Not to mention the independent and swing voters. Why can’t the DNC understand that a moderate candidate is the way to go for this year? Many voters have expressed buyers remorse due to the inadequate coverage from the MSM of the MANY character issues that Obama will have to overcome in the general election. Obama’s lack of experience and sparse voting record will be embarrassing in the general election debates against war hero McCain. Seems like the Rushette’s “Operation Chaos” is working perfectly. WAKE UP DNC AND SUPERDELS AND GET US AN ELECTABLE NOMINEE!!

Let’s face it.
BO flashes the race card so often that it reaches a time the it backfires. From now on, there is no free ride.
For every vote, you have to earn it.
BO stays behind the podium preaching and slacking, taking off only his jacket in the last two primaries just not enough to tell people of your true self.
Congratulation, there are people who is not fooled by academic snobs.
Talking about education, I have more college degrees than two third of the OBAMA supporters. Their labeling, smearing and stereotypes are disgusting enough to turn sensible beings off.
People from West Virgin, you all may be remembered for bursting the bubble of the empty suit that claims to change the world. In fact, he changes nothing because he has ONLY been ‘PRESENCE’.

Please for the love of God Mr. Klein, stop with the popular vote argument including MI and FL. Must we constantly remind people that the ONLY way Hillary wins the popular vote is if she gives Obama zero, nil, nada, votes in Michigan because he was not on the ballot.
It is over..O.V.E.R! Please stop acting like she has a chance.

Rest of week for Obama:
Because at best HRC will gain 10 delegates out of tonight, he should do the following:
1. Be gracious and acknowledge Clinton’s victory and hard work (will likely do that as he has already)
2. Continue to ignore her on the stump.
3. Roll out an additional 10-15 Supers by the end of the week. That will keep the inevitability train rolling and HRC will become another Arkansan who stayed a little too long.

At some point someone has to tell her to stop. This is her political future at this time. Think about it. If she keeps this up and hamstrings Obama for no good reason and he loses, she will be blamed. Democrats do not look kindly on those who come around a second time to run for president (Gore is the recent exception, but as a sitting VP …). If she wants a part of the ticket or some powerful position, she is not playing it right.

J-
The map is different for Obama. WV and OH are not must wins if you extend the map into the rocky mountain west and other areas in the Midwest. The biggest difference between Obama and HRC is his ability to make more states into “battlegrounds.” There are scenarios where Obama wins the presidency and lose FL and OH.
That being said, expect Obama to look at two popular governors as possible running mates. Strickland of Ohio or Rendell of PA. Either of those choices would allay many of the fears. Plus they are HRC supporters.
Obama did not get this far being a dummy. He knows the score moving forward.

Remember that Clinton is talking about 100 delegates difference from Obama since two or three months ago. I think they already had 100 more super delegates in hand once FL and MI count. Her sd supporter did not come out because waiting for FL and Mi decision. That’s why Clinton is fighting and that’s why not in any way Obama can declare his victory. If obama had enough sd in hand, why he has to ask Hillary to drop? Why he can not just be nice and wait? Hillary will win with SD’s help. Believe or not.

Must be, but again it just pushes the issue that if it is such a given, then why are people still voting for Clinton in the large numbers that they are projecting?! Why are people still showing up to the polls in record number?
Posted by: A | May 13, 2008, 8:07 pm 8:07 pm
The time between November and now is an eternity for this campaign. My guess is that Obama will have a message that resonates in WV and hat transcends any race or identity politics. Two words: clean coal.
Obama has talked about investing in using one of our most prevalent natural resource to make fuel for our vehicles and to cu our dependence on oil. This message also resonates in other areas of the country , including ND and MT.
We need to be careful in reading too much into tonight and how it plays out in the fall.

Imagine in Feb, WVA voted and now in May South Carolina voted – would it have made a big difference for the race momentum? Everything is working in Obama’s favor and he still cannot put the race to rest. It’s a bloodbath for him in Nov one on one against McCain. The Dem should figure out a way to nudge Clinton to run as an independent. It’s two against one – perhaps they will have a chance.
Posted by: esvida | May 13, 2008, 8:13 pm 8:13 pm
J,
I am not sure where this idea that he is weak came from. You think a guy with his background got where he is by being a weakling?
Where is the buyer’s remorse? Had there been buyer’s remorse he would have crashed in NC and Indiana. Fact is he did not. There has been one constant in this election for Obama: If you give him time to campaign in states, he closes the gap. Now will he win Texas or Florida, probably not. But he can win:
NV, CO, MO, IA, MT, ND (my home state), MI, VA, NC, maybe even NE.
Of those states, HRC wins maybe the following:
IA and MI.
With HRC as a nominee, McCain gets to use the old map and does not need to defend his turf. He gets to play offense the entirety time. With Obama, McCain has to play both ways. McCain does not have the resources and the pick ups are available for Obama.

He is not getting working class whites and Catholics. These are two groups he needs to win over in the fall. Yes he is a weakling. What has he done besides campaign for POTUS since he has been in the Senate? NC was because once again 90% of blacks voted for him. Indiana she won. A win is a win.
Posted by: J | May 13, 2008, 8:19 pm 8:19 pm
Geevil,
Edwards did not do his job against Cheney. Given what Cheney has done in the past 8 years, the dynamic has changed. the VP slot matters now and if a fighter and pol like Rendell were on the ticket it would be a coup for Obama. Maybe second only from a ticket with Chuck Hagel.
That being said, if OH, WV, and PA vote for McCain they will be doing so because thier values mean more than their pocketbooks. While this not a new thing (i.e. wedge issue elections), I will be surprised if they do. Kind of like cutting their noses off to spite their face.

J-
Do you think the Catholic voters are going run to McCain when he still has Hagee as a supporter? I would not be overly worried about that.
As for whites, part of the Obama campaign has been an end to identity politics. HRC has brought that back in to play in a way ( as shown by some of the comments on both sides here). However, I really do not think it is a big problem with months to go.
He will be ready to go so long as the fight does not go to the convention. that would doom the Democrats and end HRC’s career in the Senate.
BTW, I got to give it HRC’s supporters on air tonight. Man, do they have message discipline. It may be wrong and somewhat laughable, but disciplined.

Geevil,
I am a 31 year old self described political junkie.
I have seen much change in this election and wonder how much more the Veep may matter this year. Even on the other side of the aisle with McCain’s age.
Posted by: Jason | May 13, 2008, 8:27 pm 8:27 pm
Jason,
I know most of us Clinton supporters are simply backing the best available choice for President. This is not a Hillary cult. Obama is perhaps the worst choice there is. So of course we will vote for McCain over Obama. That is not a threat, a temper tantrum, or being a sore loser. That is being a patriotic American.
Posted by: geevill | May 13, 2008, 8:27 pm 8:27 pm
Jason sounds like a hit-man for Bo. It was Edwards’ fault that the useless who could not defend his war-hero record lost a sure-win election.
It will be no difference this time that the hypocrite BO will lose, by comparing with a war-hero, side-by-side with his “Wright” mentor who educated him for 20 years.

Fairsupergelegates08s- good point! If it was winner take all it would all be over and Clinton would have won! It’s a shame that the Democrats are under the system of everyone wins- just like little league. No matter if you come in 1st place or last place, you get a trophy! Plus you put more power in the hands of a few select people instead of the people themselves!

Geevil,
While this may sound like a “hit man” move (lol!) I understand why some HRC supporters would not want to vote for McCain. I said the same things about HRC when I thought HRC might be the nominee. However, then i sat down and looked at thier policy differences. There are very few things they differ on. In fact, i would be shocked if HRC was not included on some of the major policy decisions if Obama is elected in November.
Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water. After all, a vote for McCain is vote for more of the same. Even if you are a HRC backer, you will get most of what you want from an Obama administration.

Given the choice between the black voting block and the WH, the DNC will definitely choose the black voting block. The WH comes and goes, but the black block is the party’s crown jewelry.

Bo may be a great pres, but he has an equal chance of being a disaster, as like Bush.
You make the call – head or tail?
He is as good/bad a gamble as Bush. In fact he is a worse gamble than Bush because Bush did have some reasonable record to show in his governorship.
Obama – zilch, nada, none, blank.

Posted by: Jason | May 13, 2008, 8:37 pm 8:37 pm
Jason – There is little difference in policy between BO and HRC because the phony hypocrite copied, plagirized, other’s policies. It’s always “me, too”, and “I agree with Senator XYZ”. What single original policy idea came out of BO’s brain or mouth? Name one, then, I’d be happy to consider voting for him.
Now, given that same policies, on paper, what record does this BO have to show that he might, just might follow through. We heard compassionate conservatism – did you see any of it?
Posted by: a new name | May 13, 2008, 8:42 pm 8:42 pm
Why can’t she get a fair shake in the media!!!???? Even on a big day for her, like this one. A decisive win, and most articles and pundits have to sow doubts or tone down their positive coverage. It is so frustrating. I am telling you, the misogynistic blog posts from Obama’s supporters (and his silence on this) and the “it is OK to dish the girl- tell her to go home” stuff will keep her supporters home or they will vote for McCain in November. Most would could support him as VP, but hands down she is the one with the depth of knowledge and know-how with the policies and actions that are going to be required.
Posted by: NCvoter | May 13, 2008, 8:42 pm 8:42 pm
It all boils down to one question how bad does the democrats want the WH? They better want it real bad because this is a solid indication that if the make a slip up they will surly be saying welcome President McCain.

Jason – records, records, records. If you have records, there is something you can base on.
As I said, BO might be perfectly fine, but he has no records to back himself up.
He came to being, because of a feeling-good speech. Then, he gained ground, because he made an opportunistic speech at a war-rally against the opposite party. What the heck do you expect to say at that rally? Support the war? He happened to be right on that phony hunch, but you must realize that he had absolutely no intelligent information, as a state senator.
When you have zero responsibilities, you can make anti-war statements based on ideology, as BO did. When people like Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, and your former nominee Kerry supported that bill, they were based on what they know with whatever intelligence they had, which turned out to be phony and wrong. But, they did what they had to do, and they had to take that responsibility.
Not for BO.

Educated, white male, Hillary Clinton supporter in PA….I would rather deal with 4 more years of the known than to cast the dice for 4 years of “whatever happens”. Another thing, Obama and his campaign have dissed Clinton supporters and rural voters. They seem to think that they don’t need us. Donna Brazile said as much last week.
Let’s see how he thinks he can win an election with african americans and latte liberals. It hasn’t happened before, what makes him think that they will this time.
Why would voters take a chance on an untested, inexperienced politician with a flimsy record.
The more this goes on, the madder I get at the DNC for trying to push this guy down our throats.

There is no way he will be able to handle the Republican onslaught. Senator Clinton’s camp members were very very careful to give him room and not to pay dirty. There is no reason to expect the same kid glove treatment from the Republicans, all will be fair game. And to her credit, his camp did not give her the same respect. The miss leading mailers and ads, the bloggers, were all aimed at attacking her character.

As for McCain, he seems to be much more attractive now, at least more than BO. Who cares party lines any way, unless you are a bonehead.
McCain has a record of working with dems, and he probably, in fact most likely, get something done in legislation.
As to BO, it is almost certain that everything he proposes, thanks to his far left minimum trace in the Senate, will probably all to be blocked by fillibusters.
You either choose someone who is a blank and a gamble and who is certainly not going to get anything real done, or choose someone reasonable and probably get something done.

Attention Delegates/Super-Delegates; Hillary’s campaign stands for everything the DNC should be and suppose to have been against! Hillary and Bill have shown their ugly side during this race. They have used Republican style Tactics. They have shown their Tactics hold No Bounds.Mich. and Florida’s delegates was voted to be taken out even by Hillary. Now that she thinks bringing this delegates back in to help her, is nothing short of Third World Voting! If the DNC wants to hold a meeting it should be to Boot her from the Democratic Party!

Jason – Glad you mentioned Ethics reform. It was a bill wrote way before BO’s time. When BO came to the senate, the dem establishments handed it to BO to boost his resume.
Did you remember BO was claiming that he co-wrote the finance bill with Dodd? And it was Dodd who has to correct him that BO contributed zero words, except put his name on it to claim a co-sponsorship.
What a record.

I think this is going to be like the Bush -Gore debacle all over again. This time with the DNC shooting the party in the proverbial foot. Her with the popular vote and him with the delegates. Then he will lose in November.
If Dean, Reid and Pelosi had been the leaders for the PARTY and not for one candidate as they should have been, and Hillary had Florida and Michigan early on, there would be no question of her having the momentum and cash to win. She has been fighting against a biased media and a DNC leadership in love with the idea of bringing down a strong capable women leader. I think it is time for a three party system. This is crazy. If he gets the nomination and loses, as I think he will, it will be the faulty of the DNC leadership not Senator Clinton.

She can cling to this victory to make herself feel better about herself. She is out of money, can’t make up ground in the delegate count, can’t win more states and can’t win the populare vote. The notion that she can use FL and MI vote totals is a farce. Those votes were not sanctioned by the DNC and don’t count one way or the other. Ironically Hillary has said as much in Oct 07. But now that she needs the votes she wants to re-write the rules. No wonder she has credibilty issues and the highest negative ratings of any candidate. Stay in as long as you want Hillary. I urge all Hillary Clinton supporters to write Howard Dean to ask all super delegates to hold on and let the process play out. All votes need to be counted. Here’s my letter.
Dear Chairman Dean:
Results tonight and exit polling tell us that this race is not over. If Democrats hope to win in the fall, we need to let this process play out. Millions of voters have not yet voted. It is not a winning strategy to push Hillary Clinton out of this race before the last vote is cast and all the votes have been counted.
It’s more than dispiriting to see super delegates declaring for Senator Obama before this process is complete. It feels like there is an organized effort to sideline and derail her candidacy. Both Clinton and Obama are basically tied – I don’t have an exact figure but I’ve heard that the margin of the popular vote is less than 2%.
We need to let this process play out to determine just who the stronger candidate is. I believe that the DNC has not been effective in managing this primary season. While Senator Clinton gets blamed for negative campaigning, I can point to numerous instances where Senator Obama and his surrogates have defamed Senator Clinton and President Clinton.
Savaging the Clintons and the Clinton administration does not appear to be a winning strategy for the general election.
Please encourage both campaigns and the super delegates to let this process play out. That includes the resolution of Florida and Michigan. All votes must be counted! It will be harder for Democrats to line up behind the eventual nominee if there is even the appearance that this part of the cycle has been thwarted. Voters need to know that Democrats have chosen the strongest candidate to go up against John McCain in November.
Again, I urge you to request that Super delegates just hold on until all the votes are counted.
Sincerely yours,

Betty – You need to get over this. Hillary does not have to get out of anything. Your boy, Heinz57, does not get to set the rules. Hillary can and will take this to the convention if she has to. Furthermore, you would do better to extend your sympathies to Michelle, after all, it is her man that is on the down-low, so please take a chill pill and relax.

smiley Obama is in no trouble, Obama is the democratic nominee.
Hillary is just holding on until the 1st week of June for her legacy sake and on top of that she is broke. Its doubtful that she will even meet payroll this coming Thursday.
YES WE CAN! YES WE WILL!

First of all you don’t know anything about OBAMA BUT THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH.
AND HERE IT IS..
THE PROBLEM WITH THE MEDIA IS THAT ALL THEY DO IS TRY TO GET HIGHER RATINGS
ITS OVER, ALL THE NEWS STATION KNEW A WEEK AGO THAT HILLARY WAS GOING TO WIN
ABC, MSNBC, FOXNEWS AND CNN ALL KNEW THIS IS NO SURPRISE
BUT I BLAME THE DNC,,DEAN AND THE REST OF DEM PARTY LEADERS FOR LETTING THIS GO ON. FOR NOT STOPPING HILLARY BEFORE THIS.
FOR LETTING HER TRY TO MAKE A FOOL OUT OF OBAMA AND THE DEM PARTY.
IN YEAR WHERE WE HAVE IT ALL, WE ARE STARTING TO LOSE IT ALL.
THE DEM PARTY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LEADING HILLARY ON THEY KNEW SHE WASN’T GOING TO BE THE NOMINEE..
BUT I THINK THEY ALSOO KNOW THAT HILLARY WAS SHAMED BY BILL CLINTON AND THE MONICA SCANDAL.
THEY DIDN’T WANT TO JUST KICK HER OUT LIKE BILL CLINTON DID WITH MONICA.
BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ITS TIME FOR HILLARY TO LICK HER WOUNDS AND GRACEFULLY EXIT THE RACE.
AND THIS IS WHY.
THE TRUTH ABOUT HILLARY CLINTON.
ITS OVER
I realize what Hillary really wants and that is respect from Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton shamed her with the Monica scandal that IS WHY every thing Hillary does now is to prove a point that she is stronger than what Bill did to her.
How he shamed her infront of American.
Now the cheers of America is somewhat what she needs to feel better.
Its sad because she is doing all of this to make herself feel better. I couldn’t figure this out earlier, but I do now.
Its over the party leaders will not let Hillary steal the nomination from Obama.
Its sad that she needs to feel wanted, needed. And it all stems from Bill Clinton cheating on her.
Its over Hillary and I do feel sorry for you that you need to make yourself feel better because of your husband.
BUT IT IS OVER.

You can’t tell me that this win in West Virginia is not important and sends a message across America. AND she’s whipping O’s butt in WVA, could be 66, 33 at the end of the night. I wouldn’t count my bamas just yet folks. This is not over yet. Hil will get momentum out of this and who knows. A while ago Hillary said on TV that this thing will work out the way it’s supposed too, and I agree with her. So TONIGHT IS HILLARY CLINTON NIGHT. GO HILLARY. RISE HILLARY RISE.

Betty… You’ve GOT to be kidding! Why should Hillary Clinton quit? Just because you and the party bosses say so? I hope not! There are still a few primaries remaining, and like it or not, SOME states allow their citizens to vote! Obama’s ivory tower is crumbling, and by November it will be a pile of debris. West Virginia is a preview of the November election, and that one will be somewhat harder for the party bosses to control from their Star Chamber.
Stay in the race, Hillary!

Oh, one of things that impressed me when I watched Hillary’s victory speech in WVA, was there was an African American man wearing an African sort of hat, behind Hillary, rooting and cheering her all the way. The crowd was not all white, it was diverse, young and old, black and white, there was even a sign Muslim women for Hillary. WOW, I think she’s the one!

Yes, Wendy, Obama didn’t do much campaigning in WV. He was too busy displaying his arrogance, pretending to have already won. Well, maybe he has won… the nomination. But the Democrats (or Democrates, as one Obama fan calls them) have shot themselves in the foot and are handing the general election to Old Man McCain.

Hillary won WV by pushing the right ‘code” buttons to appeal to the baser side of human nature – giving voters there “permission” to vote their prejudices.
I’m very sad that a Democratic Primary candidate has trampled the long history of the Democrats standing for civil rights progress just to get votes. She’s run a campaign that Orville Faubus (odd, he’s from Arkansas, too) or George Wallace would approve – and that’s something we don’t want to see repeated, ever.

Oh so that’s what Obamasites are threatening if O doesn’t get the nomination….Civil War. Sounds like Black Liberation Theology to me. I wonder if Rev. Wright even cares to watch the returns tonight. What’s wrong with people expressing their opinion. Some people just don’t like Obama. It’s not always about race. Maybe Obama’s arugula ways don’t fly in WVA, maybe they don’t like Ivy League Elitist snobs in WVA. Maybe they don’t like skinny wimps in WVA. It’s not always about color lady.

If you think WV voters are so dumb, and so easily being manipulated, by “pushing a racist button”, I suppose you are one of those “highly educated” BO supporters.
On the other hand, if you think BO is so vulnerable, wait until the republicans to label him. Sounds like whatever way following your logic, BO is a sure loser in the general election.

Obama may bring scandal to the whitehouse too. Now how sad is that! Poor Michelle, can’t keep her man from straying. Everyone is talking. The wife is always the last one to know. I love these pleas from Obamasites for Hil to get out so O can win. HA! That is the saddest thing I’ve read all day. That’s why they want Hil out while it appears he’s winning because they’ve seen the tide turn before. Foreign money, lots of it is behind Obama and they are trying to crush Hillary to make this country into a third world nation.

Posted by: way too smart to ever vote Republican | May 13, 2008, 10:14 pm 10:14 pm
Sen. Clinton is winning big in West Virginia! Sen. Clinton’s phenomenal win shows many things; although the media pundits trying hard to ignore it ;says nothing! These are the same people who told us the same lies about Iraq, remember? Sen. Clinton is up by 30 points in Nebraska! It’s too close to call in Oregon. Florida and Michigan is still unresolved! Sen. Obama has not won even one single major battle-ground state, like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Texas, New York, California, New Jersey, Massachusetts and so on and on. You can figure out for yourself, which Democratic candidate is stronger and more electable? If you look at the Electoral College stands as right now, Clinton vs. Obama. These are “winner-take-all” electoral votes for each state, general election style calculations. Florida and Michigan is not considered.
Clinton 261
Obama 181
Include Florida and Michigan;
Clinton 305
Obama 181
Lets say with Clinton winning Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Obama winning North Carolina, South Dakota, Oregon (which is too close to call at this time, and Montana, would then be, even without Florida and Michigan:
Clinton 285
Obama 209
Even if you give Indiana, to Obama, the totals would be, still without Florida and Michigan:
Clinton 274
Obama 220
We all know it takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the General Election. This shows which of the Democratic candidates is stronger and better able to win in the General Election. Sen. Obama had manipulated the caucuses with small groups of zealots, but now not in play for the presidential election, Mr. Obama is going to find himself stuck! Sen. Clinton would make a much stronger candidate to face Republican John McCain in the general election. Sen. Obama is too weak to win the presidency for Democrats! He’s come this far with the media pulling very hard for him and with his manupulation of caususes by small groups of Obama zealots! Sen. Obama is increasingly looking unelectable without the support of Reagan democrats, women, Lations, working calss and union voters, elderly voters and so on. African American black voters and city liberals never won presedential elections for Democrats. And that’s fact! Sen. Obama has done no better than Mike Dukakis and John Kerry. Sen. Hillary Clinton is far stronger; still the best bet for Democrats to win the White House in November! Therefore if Sen. Obama is the Democratic nominee, it would be a big mistake! This is no por-Clinton spin; there’s no mistake about it!!

SINCE A BLACK MAN CAN’T GET A FAIR SHAKE AT THE PRESIDENT SEAT AND I HAVE TO SEE ANOTHER WHITE MAN OR WOMAN GET THE PRESIDENT SEAT
THAN GIVE ME MY RESPARATION FOR HAVING MY ANCESTER BROUGHT OVER HERE TO BE TREATED LIKE ANIMALS AND TO NEVER SEE THE PRESIDENT SEAT
SO YOU SEE EITHER WAY THE DEMS LOSES AND I DON’T CARE INFACT I COULD USE MY REPARATION RIGHT NOW SINCE THE ECOMONY IS SO BAD.

Those guys in Oregon are afraid that Clinton fever just might ignite in Oregon. AND it might, she’s not that far behind in the polls. If she got a ten point boost in Oregon from the WVA win she’d be at about 49%. If Hil catches fire in Oregon, it’s over for Obama. He can’t decalre victory unless he wins Oregon by at least 10-12 points. If Hil closes the gap and he wins by a smaller margin, it goes to the floor.

INFACT AS SOON AS THE DEMS TAKE THE NOMINATION FROM OBAMA I’M GOING TO HIRE A LAWYER TO FILE FOR MY REPARATION FOR SLAVERY
I COULD USE A NEW HOUSE OR A NEW CAR

Betty.
November will be the END of the democratic party AS WE KNOW IT.
It will split like this:
BLACKS VOTING FOR BLACKS AND
WHITES VOTING FOR WHITES.
It will happen.NO other choice.
Democratic party is a combination of different groups such as conservatives,
mainstream,whites,blacks,latinos,asians,
left wing etc. It’s a very fragile
party.
If Obama gets the nomination at least
75% of whites will vote for McCain in november.
CONCLUSION:
Democratic party will lose again in
november.
So don’t blame nobody else but your people.
Whites still the majority in U.S.

Rev. Wright Magazine Featured Obama on Cover with Farrakhan
Barack Obama has not admitted to this day that he knew anything about Rev. Wright’s racist and bizarre views.
Tom Blumer has retrieved images of Wright’s radical newsmagazine Trumpet which features pictures of Barack Obama, Rev. Wright — and Louis Farrakhan.
Question, will Obama continue to claim he knew nothing about Rev. Wright’s racist views and his church’s cozy relationship with Farrakhan? Tom Blumer has found other images of Obama on the cover of the Trumpet magazine. Also, per Stanley Kurtz has a devastating piece in the Weekly Standard, analyzing a year’s worth of the news magazine published by Reverend Jeremiah Wright: Jeremiah Wright’s ‘Trumpet’. To the question of the moment—What did Barack Obama know and when did he know it?—I answer, Obama knew everything, and he’s known it for ages. Far from succumbing to surprise and shock after Jeremiah Wright’s disastrous performance at the National Press Club, Barack Obama must have long been aware of his pastor’s political radicalism. A careful reading of nearly a year’s worth of Trumpet Newsmagazine, Wright’s glossy national “lifestyle magazine for the socially conscious,” makes it next to impossible to conclude otherwise.

African American vote alone can’t put Obama in the whitehouse folks, that’s truth, not delusion. If white middle class voters gang up on Obama he has got no chance and that is exactly what was ignited tonight in WVA. This is all about race and the Elitist Intellectuals will be debating for years how Clinton slipped past Obama to get the nomination and the Whitehouse. GOD WILLING!

Questions raised about terrorists financing Obama campaign
RezkoWatch may be onto a very interesting connection made by a RezkoWatcher.
Ahmed He asks if it’s possible that Obama campaign contributors Zubair A. Ahmed ($500 on June 16 2004) and Khaleel Ahmed ($2000 June 16 2004) are the same two Chicago-based cousins who were indicted last year in a terrorist conspiracy scheme.
From Ohio’s U.S. Attorney’s office press release, which indicates the accused Ahmed cousins — no longer held while waiting trial in March — were both from the Chicago area, albeit different addresses in 2007:
The superseding indictment charges Amawi, El-Hindi, Wassim I. Mazloum, Zubair A. Ahmed and Khaleel Ahmed, with conspiring, together and with others, to “kill, kidnap or maim persons outside of the United States, to include U.S. military personnel serving in Iraq,” in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 956(a)(1). Amawi, El-Hindi and Wassim I. Mazloum are also charged with conspiring, together and with others, to provide material support to terrorists, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2339A. Amawi is charged, individually, with two counts of making verbal threats against the President of the United States, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 871. All of those offenses were charged in the original indictment, however, Zubair and Khaleel Ahmed have been added as defendants in the first conspiracy charge, Count One of the superseding indictment.

I have been reading these posts and all the Obama supporters think they can intimidate people by calling them racist if they dare and point out anything negative about Obama. Problem is Obama is pretty much an unknown. Obama came up through the ranks of the Chicago political machine and thus has associated with a lot of radical anti-Americans, ie. Rev. Wright, Rev. Meeks, Bill Ayers. Even Obama’s wife has indicated that she does not think very highly of the USA. So people wonder if Obama holds the same views. What is more disturbing are Obama’s claims that he know nothing about his Pastor’s racist views when that is just not credible. So there is a lot of uncertainty about whether Obama agrees with his Pastor’s, friends and wife’s anti-American views. That is why people are hesitant to support Obama. If Obama was white, the same thing would hold true. It has nothing to do with race.

Let them have this last night of fun patting each other on the back…
You know what they say, you can’t change a crazy persons mind. Just give them until the fall and then they will be ready to support Obama.
Especially the women, when they finally come to realize that McBush will appoint a couple of conservative judges and take away the womens right to choose…

Davis, A woman’s right to choose will not be lost if conservative judges are on the Supreme Court. If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, which is very unlikely even with conservative judges, the decision on Abortion will just go back to the States so that the elected representatives of the people can decide, not unelected judges. In any event, other than Utah, I do not see any States not allowing women to get an abortion if they want it.

If anything the West Virginia result reveals, it reveals the cardinal truth that racism is still very much alive in America. In a near all-white electorate, Hillary, as widely predicted, has scored a landslide victory over an African American.
It is also another testament to the manupulative skills of the Clintons. No one has forgotten how Hillary induced the race factor into this primary by embracing the blue-collar workers as her white working class supporters.
I don’t think that anyone should make too much out of this victory. At most, it is a win in a small skirmish! It’s not a victory in a big battleground.
But superdelegates, who appears likely to be the final arbitrator to decide the ultimate winner in this protracted primary, has a moral obligation to decide whether they should allow, let alone encourage, Hillary’s kind of dirty old racist campaign tactics. If they chose to go down her road then they can kiss goodbye to any chance of the Democratic Party regaining the White House.

People, wake up! I am neither Obamanite nor a Clintonite, but please do your research and use your intelligence on picking your candidate. McCain, not an option, we can not afford four more years of lies, deception, war, failing economy and demoralizing state of our country.
Clinton is and has been a big time liar and one of the most cunning and corrupt political figures of our times. Expect no favors from her to our country. She will work for big lobbyists and big interests alike. Check her out on you tube, Clinton Vs Peter Paul.
Unfortunately or fortunately, we’ll find out, that leaves me with one choice, Obama, and I do see a lot of genuine sincerity for our people and country in him. However, he still needs to display more and better what he really stands for and is about.
Stop letting the biased media and their corrupt machine brainwash you toward any candidate. And by the way, the media does not favor Obama, it favors Clinton otherwise all the dirty Clinton laundry would be washed on the tube in front of us all day. Please, Clintonites, do not ask for more Clinton coverage on TV, things could get ugly.

BETTY,
Are you really a Hillary plant or what? You can’t be a serious Obama supporter.
I have seen your writing style before…
At any rate you are making a heck of a case for the white Hillary Fans, but I think you know that already….

That people don’t vote for OBAMA is racism.
That people vote for Hillary is racism.
Anything it says is racism.
People do not believe OBAMA; over half of the population.
The party is fixed on the wrong candidate.
Why aren’t the black superdelegates jumping side now because the moment they do, they know they are going to lose their next election and they would be out in the street.
Racism works both ways; they have done enough damages already. We shall remember. We can.

The problem with the Obama movement is that it is more than a political movement. It is Black Liberation Theology and that’s the problem. Anyway Obambi did not win a single county tonight in WVA. Spin it how you want but that starts something, a movement of it’s own. I don’t think we want to make this black against white because we all know the numbers. If that’s how it is gonna be decided then Hillary will surely win. She beats McCain, she beats Obama. So you Obamasites better hope that white people don’t get mad and start asking for reparation too and flocking to the polls to vote against Obama. There are enough states left to turn this thing around. It can happen.

You people just do not understand the data. If you look at the OVERALL data combining the states that voted thus far…, they are tied for the “educated” vote…I think Obama gets 1% more or something like that…within the margin in error so they call it a tie.
Clinton gets also a large percent of the non educated white group as well. I suppose that means that Obama gets the uneducated blacks along with a majority of the educated ones? Does that make sense?
So since this is a white state with more uneducated voters than educated, it make sense that the numbers were the way the were tonight.
So quit with all the jabs about this topic…and if you are going to jab someone do it to yourself! You are the ones not using the numbers in their entirety.
Let me not forget to mention the polls for a while now…for months…have said Clinton would win big in this state.

Georgia …..66.4 …….. 32.2
Colorado ….66.5 …….. 32.3
Kansas ……74.0 …….. 25.9

http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Obama/Maps/May13.html
Look at the states…the republican leaning for now…and even the tied state of Indiana. Then look at the history of them voting Republican.
So people supporting Obama should not be too happy…especially what was shown in WV. That demographic is the largest in the United States I believe. I think Obama may make some headway but it won’t be enough.

Raleigh Voter,
Those weren’t “poll numbers” I posted above. Those were actual vote percentages in the primaries. I also might point out that all those states are larger than WV.
Also WV went Republican in the last two elections or maybe you didn’t know that…

Some “all but presumptive” nominee this Obama character is.
Obviously the American voters still have ideas quite different than those of all the wimpy superdelegates who flocked to Obama’s side after he won one lone state last week that he was supposed to win anyway. And he only won that state by 14%.
Hillary cleaned his clock in West Virginia tonight and not only among the elderly, poor, caucasian voters. According to the exit polls, she even carried most of the voting groups he usually carries: young voters, higher income voters, etc. etc.
The Democratic Party had better think long and hard before they further annoint this man to be their representative in the general election.
Everyone thinks the Hillary supporters will just fold under and vote for him anyway come the general election, but I think they might be surprised when these voters do indeed vote for McCain in November, or else launch a grassroots write-in campaign for Hillary…….

Hmm, let’s look at that WV demographic:
25% Over 60
50% High school education or below
95% White low income Hillbillys
Home of the “Hatfield and McCoy” voters (wonder if they still have that feud going on?) and the seat of Senator Byrd a former KKK member…
Yep, that’s Clinton’s demographic alright. Congrats on the big win there Hillary fans! Too bad it is such a small state…

Just like Bush with the war, Obama lied to the Democrats at the begining of the campaign hiding his allegiance to Rev. Wright and Black theology. That is the only reason he is ahead in the primaries. After we found out he has not win anything but NC in which obviously there was fraud.. Obama is as deceiving and conniving as Bush. Write Hillary on the ballot.

He’s almost certainly going to get the nomination after next week’s votes, or at least get very close. I’m anxious to see how many pledged delegates come out after this week. HRC was only able to pick up about ten delegates differential. But since Obama got about 30 pledged delegates this week, he more than made up for the loss in WV. Thank goodness the superdelegates know who the smart money is on. Go, Obama!

WHAT IS AMERICAN DEMOCRACY IF EACH AND EVERY VOTE DOES NOT COUNT? WHY DO WE HAVE POPULAR VOTES? WE SAY WHAT HAPPEN TO AL GORE IN 2000, WE ARE SEEING THE SAME IN THE “DEMOCRATIC PARTY” FOR OUR PRESIDENTAL NOMINATION – WHEN WILL WE HAVE TRUE DEMOCRACY, WHERE EVERY VOTE COUNTS, NO PROTECTIONISM OF SPECIAL INTEREST – STATE, RACE, RELIGION, REGION, ++++. HOW CAN WE QUESTION OTHER FORMS OF GOVERNMENTS, DEMOCRACIES WHEN WE HAVE THE SAME “PROTECTIONISM” AS MOST OF THEM? I UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DNC AND “SUPERDELEGATE” – TO MAKE SHORE THAT NO SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP HIJACKED THE PARTY, HOWEVER WHAT ABOUT THE POPULAR VOTE AND MAJORITY WINS? It’s so cool that the DNC has proptioned allocation of delegates. The proportioned idea is so much better than the electoral college nonsense. A candidate which gets 2/3 of the vote gets about 2/3 of the delegates; the other candidate gets 1/3, like it should be. Note how different that is from the general election. HRC would have gained all of the electoral votes for WV, but yesterday all she did was get a +10 (or so) gain in the pledged delegates column from a blowout. The same thing happened in all those states where Obama blew the doors off HRC. The proportioned allocation of delegates has sort of smoothed out these trouncings. It has also allocated basically evenly where the candidates split the vote, which also makes sense. Note that in the electoral college a candidate gets 100% of the electoral votes for even a one vote over majority.
However, the superdelegate thing is a little kooky. It does seem that the superdelegates have a little bit too much power. The problem is that although many vote to follow their constituencies, many do not. The ones who do not follow their constituencies end up having way too much power. I don’t think it’s healthy for any of the parties to have this concept of a superdelegate. In addition, we’ve seen during this election that the superdelegates, by and large, end up staying on the fence because they don’t want to offend anyone in their constituencies. This has had the effect of prolonging this contest, which clearly (although HRC and Obama would say otherwise) is not advantageous to the Democratic Party.
I think after this primary cycle, the Democrats really need to re-design their candidate selection process because, in the end, it doesn’t appear to work very well when there are two very popular candidates. So what should have been a very good year for Democrats has turned into a very bad primary cycle, in part because the process has forced it to be.

NPR.org,
May 13, 2008 7 New York Sen. Hillary Clinton won a landslide victory in West Virginia’s Democratic primary Tuesday, defeating Illinois Sen. Barack Obama by a margin of more than 2 to 1.
The state’s demographics favored Clinton: West Virginia voters are older, less educated and overwhelmingly white, groups which have flocked to her in past voting. But the results will do little to change the course of the race for the Democratic nomination for president.
(Delegate Math Favors Obama)
But increasingly, the superdelegates are moving into the Obama camp.
He Gained (30 in just the past week), negating any advantage Clinton might have had from the (16) or more pledged delegates she won in West Virginia.
BIG NOTE: So while the drubbing in West Virginia may be embarrassing for Obama, he still leads Clinton by any tangible measurement:
BIG NOTE: Pledged Delegates, Superdelegates and the Popular Vote, and there just aren’t enough contests left for her to catch up.
And while Obama is setting new fundraising records, Clinton”s campaign debt is estimated to be (More Than $20 Million and Rising).
In a conference call Tuesday, Roy Romer, a superdelegate and former chair of the Democratic Party, announced his support for Obama, saying, “This race, I believe, is over.” It”s up to Clinton, he said, to decide when to drop out.

Be ever vigilant — Fortunately, there’s this document called the Constitution, which actually prevents the President from doing any and all of the things that you mention. Have you heard of it? It makes a great read. Perhaps after you’ve read it, you might be able to better understand the role that the President, Congress, and the Judicial play in our system of government. And, hopefully, this will alleviate your concerns.

‘Be ever vigilant’ remember this:
Ronald Wilson Reagan (6 letters in first name, middle name, last name or 666) ushered in the Bush-Clinton reign. Bushies and Hillary-ites attack the candidate who wants to be civil and change their policies. Sound like politics of 2,000 years ago?
And you freaks go on about Wright.

I am aware of the constitution.
I am also very aware that his unity is not limited to the US, he wants world unity and he will make it happen and people will be behind him 100% and he will be seen as a world leader not just a US leader. When the world sees the unity he brings the constitution won’t matter anymore.

‘Be ever vigilant’ think about this:
The space shuttle Columbia exploded over the State of Texas (home of the current President) with significant debris falling in Pallestine, TX. Also killed was the first Israeli who was on board.

I am not a freak. I happen to think that no one can know the private beliefs of their pastor. I was an Obama supporter.
My eyes were opened to who he will become.

If hundred of thousands Hillary supporters turn away from CNN and MSMBC, their rating will go down. Please do it for a week or a month you will see their tone of voice change. Watch Fox News instead! Most of pundits in CNN and MSMBC are Obama’s ass kissers!

West Virginia thinks that this was reality TV.
They voted to keep it going, regardless of the frutility.

Be ever vigilant ===========
Why are you just bothered over nothing?
You think that he will become a monster or something scary. It is so easy to blow trivial things out of proportion. Millions of people across america have associated in one way or another with people who hold different views from them. After all said, these people still remain good people that they naturally are and stick to their own ways of life. They don’t turn to monsters. Only little kids are influenced easily by anything they are told or what they see. I just don’t get the reason for all this fuss about pastor wright. Moreover, it wasn’t like he was up there every sunday saying those silly things. Maybe once, twice or thrice over several years whenever he lost his bearing.

Hope that Hillary will run as Independent if DNC is just a group of jerks behind Obama! If she does, hope and change will be gone with the wind!

Rezkowatch has some interesting things today. One is a video of a recent interview with Black Panther Leader and why he thinks Obama is the one and Africa will rise, etc. http://rezkowatch.blogspot.com/2008/05/rezkowatch-factchecker-new-black.html
He also equates Black Liberation Theology with Nation of Islam Theology. I’ve read that Wright was formerly Muslim before taking his job at Trinity. Hmmm…

Way to go Hillary!
Hillary won West Virginia by a landslide in spite of overspending in ads 3 to 1 by Obama against Hillary. Same thing that happened in Indiana and Pennsylvannia. Obama is expected to win both Indiana and North Carolina since February. But, Hillary won Indiana and cut Obama’s lead in North Carolina from 20% in February down to 14% in spite of ad overspending by Obama.
Wake up media people or wake up superdelegates. Hillary even won consecutively in Ohio, Texas (Obama lost even he was endorsed by the Traitor Bill Richardson), and Pennsylvannia. Not to mention the other big states such as California (Obama lost in California even though Oprah, Maria Shriver, and Katherine Kennedy endorsed him), Massachusetts (Obama lost Massachusetts even though Kennedy and John Kerry endorsed him), Arkansas, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Florida (both of them are in the ballot) that are crucial in November. Hillary has the most electoral college votes based in these big states.
If you want a Democrat to win then Hillary should be the choice. HILLARY WON THE BIG STATES AND THE SWING STATES. If Hilalry is not the nominee, we will vote for McCain. African Americans are so unfair voting 9 to1 against Hillary not like the white people who fair and thinks who is the best candidate. Who is being racial now? This racial thing about Black has been OVERUSED, MISUSED and ABUSED by these people. Obama, the Obama camp, Clyburn, Wright and others can not fool us anymore. Stop this non-sense.
Wake up superdelegates! Wake up media people.

Barack Obama wanted a national discussion about race and now he’s got one.

For all the excitement generated by Obama’s campaign, and despite his laudable success in caucus states, Obama has failed to draw critical blocs of Democrats into his coalition, a problem which has been exacerbated by off-the-record remarks belittling small-town Americans and ongoing coverage of his fiery pastor.
