Clinton Calls Bush Remarks ‘Offensive’
ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: Senator Hillary Clinton called President Bush’s comments in Israel today about the practice of appeasement in foreign policy, particularly his comparison of "any Democrat to Nazi appeasers", both "offensive and outrageous."
"On the face of it and especially in light of his failures in foreign policy, this is the kind of statement that has no place in any presidential address and certainly to use an important moment like the 60th anniversary celebration of Israel to make a political point seems terribly misplaced," said the New York Senator during an impromptu gaggle with reporters. "Unfortunately this is what we’ve come to expect from President Bush who has refused to change course in Iraq, neglected Afghanistan and failed to provide leadership on the range of important issues that face our country and the world.”
Clinton also spoke to McCain’s speech today in which he previewed what the country would look like in 2013 after he was president.
“It’s especially important in light of what Sen. McCain said earlier today promising victory in Iraq for a Democratic president and I hope people really look seriously at both President Bush’s comment and Sen. McCain’s speech and realize that the only way we’re going to restore our leadership and our moral authority and deal with the very real challenges we face in the world is by electing a Democratic president," said Clinton. "I believe that I am the stronger candidate against Sen. McCain and would be the president who could accomplish that."
Clinton clarified that her criticism of Bush’s remarks today about negotiating with foreign countries was different from her complaints earlier in the election season regarding Senator Obama agreeing to meet with leaders of countries like Iran.
“I have differences with Senator Obama on certain foreign policy matters, but I think we are united in our opposition to the Bush policies and to the continuation of those policies by Senator McCain. And no amount of outrageous analogies or claims for victory are going to sugarcoat what has been a dismal record by this administration and their allies in the Congress.”
Clinton was also asked about former Senator and ’08 rival John Edwards’ endorsement of Obama on Wednesday and said it might be helpful in some places, but what really matters is what voters decide.
“Well I have a great deal of respect for Senator Edwards. And he and I have a lot in common, I particularly have a lot in common with Elizabeth Edwards, said Clinton. "I imagine that Senator Edwards’ endorsement will be of some help to Senator Obama in Kentucky. But I think that what matters is the people who actually vote.”
Clinton said she had not spoken to John Edwards, but has spoken to Elizabeth Edwards.
“I’ve spoken with Elizabeth Edwards and she’s a friend of mine and I have a high regard for her and I think it’s important that she remain a strong advocate and real champion for universal healthcare.”
Clinton continued, “I don’t think a Democratic nominee for president should have any position other than universal healthcare. It has been a position of our platform since Harry Truman. There are different ways of getting there, but you’ve got to remain committed to universal healthcare and Elizabeth Edwards and I agree.”

Mrs. Clinton would never be a good president. Why don’t she just concede and get out. She does not care that she hurts herself, the party, as long as she can win by any means. This is a sad state of affairs for her. The country has had enough of the Bushes, but they have also had enought of the Clintons. We don’t need either name again.

To top it off Bush told Yahoo the other day that if a Democrat was elected terrorist would attack America.
The people who voted for Bush over the last 8 years should sit this election out and let the people who have made the right choice decide how to get us out of the nightmare that Bush has made of this country.

She has shown him that it is not that easy, and he will use that experience. For this, the Democratic Party owes her.

Take a look at 120 Dems that have assumed elected offices in cities, counties, districts, states in the last 8 years. Nearly everyone, including Obama, owes the Clintons for teh public support, speeches, fundraising and influence they bring to the entire party.
It is short-sighted selfish politicians who have forgotten who has done more teh teh Dem paarty than an other couple in the last 20 years.
The radio/tv entertainer/pundits with their meaningless opijions, have nothing invested and nothing to lose.
Obama supporters appears weak and afraid
with their calls for Hillary to drop ouot for the “good of the party”.
These young, newly registered, never before voted “fans” need to grow up and listen to how ignorant they sound.
Obama has spent his camopaign badmouthing the people in office for dothing nothing and playing political games. He claims he can reconcile these folks he’s been dissing for teh last year. (Good luck with that).
He doesn’t know how teh game is played, wwhich is why he’s going to the “football field” with a baseball bat. He’s got so much to learn.
Hillary is ready on day one. No question about it. She knows which game is being played on which field, and how to play the game.
Obama may not like it, but he’s always gonna be standing on teh outside “hoping” instead of “doing” with his child-like view of how Washington works.
Obama is hurting his party’s chances of beatign McCain. Why can’t he see that side of the coin?
The longer Hill stays in the race, the less air time McCain is getting. And the safer Obama is from the GOP Karl Rove smear tactics.
She’s actually hurting nothing by staying in the race. And when Rove produces those “pictures” of Obama which you know Rove has ready to roll out, to discredit Obama, you’ll see a sea change of delegates switch their votes in August.

The Bush administration has denied referring to Obama when making his statement today in Israel. Unless you have proof that he was, you should not make the assumptions that you did (like the “journalists” at CNN). Furthermore, I didn’t see you this outraged when Carter went overseas and exercised his own personal foreign policy in violation of the orders of the State Dept.! The Dems teeter on the verge of actual treason on a daily basis with their constant attacks on those defending us while they work as hard as they can to help our enemies. There aren’t just “differences of opinion” in this country. There are those that wish to preserve what America stands for and there are those who want to see America (in its current form) destroyed and rebuilt with a Socialist, secular-progressive nation. I would LOVE to see the Democrats try to go after President Bush for any supposed crime. The foolishness of those in opposition would be exposed for the world to see. Democrats ARE emboldening our enemies. The only crime Bush has committed is not going after those of you who actually do bring aid and comfort to them.

You do realize that the Bush administration has been talking with Kim Jong II about his nuclear weapons, right? You also know that both Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice advocate sitting down with the Iranians, right? You remember that Hillary has said she will obliterate Iran if Iran should acquire nuclear weapons and attack Israel with it, which means that the United States would then be attacking a nation armed with nuclear weapons, right?

How do you figure? The recession we’re in is due to poor republican policy. Republicans got the country into this quagmire in Iraq.. Republicans have destroyed our military. Republicans have are failing to take care of our service men and women when they return from Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush and his republican supporters in Congress have added somewhere between 3 and 5 trillion dollars to our national debt ( depending whose figures you use).
Sure, conservatism isn’t synonymous with republicans but the conservative base are the ones that vote these leaders in.

There is nothing ABC news can do to stop Sen. Clinton from becoming President. About three years ago a well known televangelist, Perry Stone Jr., told his congregation that God spoke to him and said Sen. Clinton will be the next President. This information can be obtained from one of his published works on CD entitled “Strange Patterns of Recent American Presidents.” On track 7 of this CD, he tells us that Sen. Clinton will once again be in the White House. So give it up ABC News. And Barack, your days are numbered.

Popular vote as of May 15, 2008
These figures INCLUDE Florida and Michigan, as they were fairly and legitimately earned by Senator Hillary Clinton, and have been validated by the respective Secretary’s of State.
Obama 16,680,827
Clinton 16,710,298
Total Diff. +29,471 (Clinton)
Pct. Diff. +0.08% (Clinton)
So, why SHOULD Hillary quit NOW?
Who do you think will be leading after next Tuesday?
Hint – See below:
Combined population of Oregon, Montana and South Dakota = 5,173,438
Combined population of Kentucky and Puerto Rico = 8,086,459

Which Democratic candidate is more electable?
Consider this:
This is how the Electoral College stands as of April 23, 2008, showing strengths of Clinton vs. Obama, based on their results. For those who have not understood, this is not a head-to-head matchup, but rather a side-by-side comparison.
This assumes a winner-take-all primary/caucus vote takes all Electoral votes for each state. The totals immediately below are WITHOUT any consideration of the states of Florida and Michigan.
Clinton 261
Obama 181
But with Florida and Michigan:
Clinton 305
Obama 181
Assuming the following victories, based on current polls, with Clinton winning Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Obama winning North Carolina, South Dakota, Oregon (which is doubtful), and Montana, the totals would then be, still without Florida and Michigan:
Clinton 285
Obama 209
Even with a victory for Obama in Indiana, the totals would be, still without Florida and Michigan:
Clinton 274
Obama 220
Please note that it takes 270 Electoral College votes to win the General Election.
Whether or not the vote turns out as indicated, I firmly believe the above analysis more than amply demonstrates which of the Democratic candidates is in a better position to be the stronger candidate in the General Election.

I will tell you why he holds the lead and HE blew her out in the early stages; it is because she couldnt be bothered to travel an campaign in moderate to small size states, NOW her a// has to!
I imagine you are one of those that plan to vote for McCain? If you are, be my guest. It is clear you are NOT up to date on your info. or facts. Now, it’s over – get the f/// over it. She lost, move on. She has no one to blame but herself.
Had she put as much effort into campaigning FROM the START, she wouldn’t be in the mess she is in NOWWWWWW. Face facts, she dropped the ball and it is no ones fault but hers. Depending on Super Tuesday and skipping all those states. She even skipped many of the March states.
Hell, she didn’t even decide to go to whatever that place was the other night – until he steam rolled all over her last Tues. night in NC and embrassed her in IN. In fact if I am not mistaken, she decided that night to make a detour and head into that state, WV, that’s what it was WV. Anyway, again, she lost because of herself…..And this is someone you want to run the damn country? Imagine if she ran the country in the same manner she ran her campagin. Please.
It’s over, GET OVER IT.

Things are NOT as they are made to appear.
For all the talk about “Super Delegates”, there is nothing “Super” about them. Just as everyone of us, they have one vote each. Their endorsement is just that, an endorsement. It is not a vote. They are not supposed to come into play unless there is a deadlocked convention, and in that case, they are expected to exercise their BEST JUDGMENT to cast their votes for that candidate they, in view of their extensive experience and political wisdom, think would be able to WIN the General Election. They are not supposed to be endorsing this or that candidate, BEFORE THEY VOTE AT THE CONVENTION. To do otherwise is to be false to the trust and responsibility that has been placed in and on them.
It would be better at this point if all the bickering supporters of each candidate looked at the number of ACTUAL PLEDGED DELEGATES allocated to their candidate on the basis of primaries and caucuses won. Those figures, as of May 14, 2008 (NY Times web site), for those who truly follow politics are:
Obama 1418
Clinton 1352
Diff. 66
Of the “surveyed” “Super Delegates”, of which there are approx. 795, there are at least 238 who have not “endorsed” any candidate, which is as it was intended to be. Again, an “endorsement” does not necessarily translate into a convention vote, since in theory “Super Delegates” are supposed to represent the wisdom of the party and are expected to be above the fray. Those who have endorsed, really should be stripped of their position and replaced by those who will act as intended. However, that is the responsibility of the DNC, which so far, has proven inadequate to discipline its own members.
The bottom line, “Super Delegate” endorsements should not be counted by candidates claiming that such an “endorsement” makes this person into a PLEDGED DELEGATE, for that is NOT THE CASE, and to think otherwise is to delude oneself and one’s followers. It is also wrong for the media to even report what “Super Delegates” are doing now, as they do not even come into play unless and until there is a DEADLOCKED CONVENTION.
However, there is nothing to prevent partisans from ‘counting chickens before they hatch”, nor is there anything to prevent the media from playing games with gullible people to increase interest in these silly stories.
As Yogi Berra once said, “It ain’t over, ’til it’s over”. And this fight is a long way from over.

Mr. Coffee – The thing that’s giving American voters grief abut Mr. Obama’s middle name, Hussein, is that they directly relate it to Islam. Mr. Obama, despite the fact that Islamic law (due to his father’s observation of the religion and Muslim belief that the father determines the child’s religion), considers him Islamic, and despite his endorsment by Hamas, and despite the support of his church of the founder of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan, still think he might be Muslim. They don’t have a problem with Jews, Hindus, Protestants, Catholics, or atheists. They somehow think that because the middle east is saying we’re in a holy war against Islam, that his middle name and his heritage matter.

If Obama is smart as he portends to be, then he should ask, and if she decline initially, beg Hillary Clinton to be on the ticket. If that materializes then its a sure win for the Democrats in November…That’s the only way that the Democrats are assured of victory..If Obama chooses another for his running mate..he will surely lose because most of Hillary’s voters are either gonna vote for McCain(which I could not understand why until the polls suggest that a large portion of her supporters are uneducated)Or stay home. I cannot understand for the life of me how people can even consider voting for McCain to continue the failed Republican strategies that have taken this country down the economic road to hell. I cannot understand how McCain is even an option. That speech yesterday was just political posturing..know that it works with a large portion of the electorate who are gullable. Just like John “opportunist” Edwards, Obama would appease Lucifer if he thought it would benefit him politically.
Whether or not the subtext of Bush’s remarks today were directed at Obama is irrelevant. Obama took the bait because he knows his stance to meet without preconditions with Mahmud Ahmadinejad, and the leaders of Syria, Cuba, and North Korea won’t appeal to the vast majority of the electorate. It’s keeping up appearances in Obamaland.
Everything Obama does is in defense of his own bad judgment. He’s sorry he called a reporter “sweetie.” He’s disappointed about his reprehensible and racist pastor Wright. He barely knows Weathermen terrorist Bill Ayers. He hardly knows the indicted Tony Rezko. He’s sorry the public somehow misinterpreted his closed-door elitist remarks about small town, blue-collar, gun-owners and church-goers. He didn’t mean this gaffe or that misstatement. He misspoke, he didn’t mean it, he didn’t hear it, he doesn’t know him, it wasn’t in context, he wasn’t there. The hope ‘n change man sure does a lot of changin’.
With all that Obama allegedly has not done, not seen, not heard, not said, didn’t mean, never felt, and doesn’t believe, what exactly has he done, seen, heard, meant, felt, and does believe? Whatever voters want, if it’ll get him elected. Where ever the winds of political fortune blow, so goes Obama, and Richardson, and Edwards…

Emily, I wonder whom are you supporting! the perfect Hillary Clinton who has no skeleton in her closet?Dream on Emily, dream on!
Posted by: Earl | May 16, 2008, 1:33 am 1:33 am
All three candidates are humanbeings who have made mistakes and have skeletons in their closets..The way some of you talk about the candidate that you do not support, its like if your candidate is perfect..There is only one that is perfect and that’s Jesus and the last time I checked he was not running for the presidency of the United States..and by the way! he is not a Republican as most of you Republicans think(Party of values)Please! gimme a break!

I’m supporting Hillary. If not Hillary as the dem nominee, then it’s McCain in November. So, give me a break!
Posted by: Emily | May 16, 2008, 1:49 am 1:49 am
Emily,
I appreciate your sentiment, but I can never bring myself to vote for a Republican. I’m sticking with Hillary for November.

Obama and Bittergate, we shall not forget!

WestCoastMessenger: I’m sticking with Hillary as well. I’m just talking about the possibility of the DNC and the latte-left succeeding in steamrolling her out of the nomination. If that happens, I’ll either write-in her name or vote McCain.

The fake so called Hillary supporters who plan to vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee..are not true Democrats..they are Republicans posing as democrats on the blogs..I’ve picked on you guys a long time..and I hope others have.
Posted by: Earl | May 16, 2008, 2:41 am 2:41 am
No Democrat in his/her right mind would vote for McCain..Those of you who are so called Hillary supporters who plan to vote for McCain if Hillary is not the nominee..are fake democrats and are really Republicans posing as Democrats on the blogs..I have picked up on you guys a long time and I hope other concientous real Democrats have picked up on your crap and don’t be bothered by it. The democrats are going to win in November..there is no ifs, ands, or buts about it and there is nothing you Republicans can do about it. Word!

Obama Helped Supporters Get Millions in Illinois State Business. Obama the politician we can’t believe. Write Hillary on the ballot.

libre, Hillary or Obama! I do not care as long as a Democrat is in the white house to turn that sinking ship around and bring our boys home from that morass of a war that should not have been. I’m sure if you ask some of those Hillary supporters who are going to vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee..”How much for a gallon of gas” They’ll tell you 75 cents..That is how uneducated they are!The polls said so..don’t be mad at me for repeating it!
Posted by: Earl | May 16, 2008, 3:02 am 3:02 am
It’s the rude comments of the Obama supporters that will be responsible for Obama losing. Why would Hillary’s supporters want to vote for Obama after reading all these insults? Without Hillary’s supporters, Obama will lose in November.

libre, Me thinks that you are a Republican who know that it is easier for the Republicans to beat Hillary in the General Elections..The Republicans know it that is why Rush Limbaugh and the other Republicans to cross over and vote for Hillary.
Posted by: Earl | May 16, 2008, 3:07 am 3:07 am
Golden state,I am not an obama supporter I am a democrat..I don’t care who gets in there as long as its a democrat..but I know those Hillary supporters who plan to vote for McCain are uneducated ones that polls pointed out..Most of Hillary’s supporters are smart and intelligent and if Obama gets the nomination they are going to vote for obama because they are true democrats..One would have to be blind, dumb and deaf to the current economic situation and the stupid war that is draining this country’s economy and taking the lives of our young and impressionable Americans..not to forget the 30,000 plus who are incapacitated..to vote for the Republican party and continue to take this country down the drain..If you love your country you would want to change that..if not then you are uneducated and also unpatriotic..Vote McCain, feel the pain and don’t complain. Democrats all the way Baby!
Posted by: Earl | May 16, 2008, 3:19 am 3:19 am
goldenstate, Remember that Hillary would need Obama’s supporters to win too(General Elections)..Come on Democrats lets turn this sinking ship around and head to port and do some fixing before it sinks..The Republicans are sinking our ship..we are not going to throw the Republicans overboard because we are all Americans but I am asking the patriotic Republicans who claim to love your country to join us and turn this ship around..you must be part of the 78% of the country who think the country is heading in the wrong direction..so join us Democrats for once and lets turn this ship around..I implore you..for the sake of our beloved country. God bless America!

libre, Most true democrat voters don’t care about the Rev Wright debacle..recent polls said that..it is only the racist element and there were a few in the West Virginia primary..How do I know? they said so in the exit interview..it was in the news..they said that they are voting for Hillary because she is white.. This racist element ()which by the way is a real minority and we can do without their vote. The majority of white people in this country are good, honest, and sincere people who don’t care about race but vote who they believe is competent enough to be president..you can’t get any worse than George Bush..These intelligent white people whom I have describe earliar are going to vote for Barack Obama whether you like it or not. Lets turn this ship around. God bless America! Word!

Well done Bush and keep it up!As a democrat I love seeing a president as stupid and crooked as you energize our party and get involved in the political debate. Keep it up and Obama will beat McBush by 12% rather then 6%. The day George Bush leaves office it should be considered a special holiday and the country should have the biggest party in history.

it is a sad day when Americans only see through party lines and not the truth… was Bush refering to Obama, of course he was. Do we need a new direction… I know yes. You decide – but be educated outside of your box.

Our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common-sense way. Politics has become so bitter and partisan, so gummed up by money and influence, that we can’t tackle the big problems that demand solutions.
Obama had put into words what is in the minds of millions of Americans, especially the non-ideological crossover voters.
Obama’s buoying call to a common sense approach a welcome antidote after the name calling and fearmongering of Bushism and scandals involving the Bush Administration. Many voters hunger now for a more productive and positive politics.
Like JFK, Obama will be a successful leader because they were gifted with the ability to put into words what many people were thinking in a way that produces genuine empathy.
Democratic Party presidential candidates have not displayed this quality in decades. Among the present pretenders for the nomination, Sens. Joseph Biden and Christopher Dodd and Rep. Dennis Kucinitch do not display it. John Kerry and Al Gore? Nope. John Edwards displays it, but his base of support is too narrow. Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will best serve as Secretary of State if a Democrat wins the presidency.
That leaves Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Unfortunately, her greatest strength is also her greatest weakness — experience. The Republicans are in disarray. More than half the party is still in denial about why they lost control of Congress. A Clinton candidacy will be a lightning rod that will unite the Republicans, allowing them to paper over their differences to attack an old foe and get back in the game. That will be more difficult to do with Obama, who really represents a different generation.
The Republican frontrunner is Sen. John McCain. He has positioned himself for the race ever since losing the 2004 primaries to George Bush. But McCain has undercut his vaunted reputation for “straight talk” by cultivating support of Christian conservatives and supporting the escalation of the Iraq war, alienating crossover voters who want nothing to do with American mullahs like James Dobson and want to end the war.

“Hillary, some of your girls are planning to vote for a 3rd Bush term ” Fred, we’re not interested in supporting sexist, racist Obama supporters like you. We’ll tell you to stick it where the sun don’t shine by voting against Obama in the general election if Hillary is not the nominee. You get it? We’re voting against Obama because of your sick racist and sexist Obama supporters. I’d never let children sit through 20 years of racist sermons at Obama’s church or let children listen to the disgusting racist and sexist comments by Obama supporters.

Drew, whether you like it or not, Obama with Hillary as vice president is gonna win in November..this is a God thing!Obama is Obama..he is a different humanbeing from Wright(In case you did not know)..That Wright thing is old news, you know old news? Old News and polls are showing that most Americans don’t care about the wright issue..only the racist klan thinking minority..who would welcome any rumour and run with it simply because Obama is black..Obama represents everyone..I am black and I believe there are black racists but Obama is not one of them or I would not support him..How can Obama be a racist with a white mother and grew up with his white grandparents..The wright thing is old news and would not work in the general election..The Republicans know that and that is why they would rather Hillary to win..They have more ammunition on Hillary

@ Bob
Remarks like yours just reinforce my (and a lot of other people’s) decision to vote against Obama if he is the nominee in the fall.

Normally, Bush’s speeches are pretty blasé and sometimes border stupid. This one hits the nail on the head. He threw a hook and the dummy, Obama took the bait! If he did not say he was going to talk to Ahmadinejad and his fellow terrorists, Hezbollah,Hamas,Al Qaeda, etc., how come he admits the speech was targeted at him and not the other dud, Jimmy Carter? Bingo! So, Hillary, you wanna bite on this one? So we finally now know what Obama’s change is about: Me, Me, Me!

MIguy:
Wasn’t it Bill Clinton who did nothing
after the first World Trade Center
bombing gut persue a legal strategy against the “blind sheik” and others responsible for the attack?
Wasn’t it Nancy Pelosi who met with
the leader of Syria without consulting with the president?
While Speaker Pelosi was breaking bread
with Assad amd sipping tea, the Syrians were building a nuclear reactor right under her nose!
Wasn’t it Barack Obama who said he would, as president, talk to any world leader, friend or foe, with no
preconditions?
So while a President Obama was talking to the Iranian leader, Ahmadinejad,
is it a stretch to assume that Iran
would simutaneously launch a nuclear
attack against Israel?
What Dems see as negotiations our enemies see as opportunities to
continue their Anti-US activities!
Our enemies see a “cease-fire” as an opportunity to regroup obtain more
weapons and fight again!
Peace through strength is the answer!
After the enemy is conquered, then we
negotiate!
Maybe you’re right! If the shoe fits!

Cory
I agree with you. I have never voted for a Republican in my life….but then they have been pretty low key and unprincipled while Bush shredded our Constitution. And why are all these politicians holding press conferences now. I saw 2 Congressman from each party come out to beg Carter to stay out of negotiations….where were the Democrats then? Why weren’t they so united?
I actually think that Bush was referring to Carters vacation trip to visit with Hamas…
