Clinton Sits Through Sermon About Adultery

ABC News’ Eloise Harper Reports: When things couldn’t be looking worse for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s bid for the presidency in 2008, as her rival Barack Obama closes in on gaining enough delegates to secure the nomination, the former first lady attended a church service in Bowling Green, Ky., Sunday featuring a sermon about lust and adultery.

The hour-long sermon focused on the sin of committing adultery - as outlined in Mathew 5:27-32.

Clinton, D-N.Y., has often said her faith pulled her through the difficult time when her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Paul Fryman of the State Street United Methodist Church asked the congregation, "How is your commitment level in your marriage this morning?’

He spoke about lust and the sin of cheating on your partner. Clinton looked straight ahead as the man spoke about the theme of the sermon, which was: "Come Up Higher When the Devil Whispers Over Your Shoulder."

Clinton sang and participated in the service –- and afterwards shook hands with many well-wishers and community members.

Can anyone say “uncomfortable” Hey, where was Bill?

I am an Obama supporter Eloise, however all I have to say to your news story is so what. You might want to focus on something else the bible has to say. To paraphrase, “speak only about those things that lift others up.”

WoW
I’ve always wondered why she stayed with him.
Political Reasoning?
I doubt Monica Lewinsky was the first women and probably not the last.
She should have left him. He lied to her and lied to the American people.
Hillary is such a role model (sarcasm)

It is about time someone reminded her that Bill Clinton abused her all these years.
She has been in denial all her life. She could have left Bill but he promised to make her the President of the United States. How ironic that he ended up costing her the nomination.
She should end her campaign on Tuesday and think bout herself.

The question that comes to my mind is..If Hillary let(s) her husband repeatedly cheat on her, will she let others do the same to this country? If she will tolerate serial adultery, then WHAT WON’T SHE TOLERATE?

I don’t get it. Hillary didn’t commit adultery. Why should she feel chastened?

And why is it that so many act like Bill Clinton is the only man to ever commit adultery and Hillary is the only woman who ever forgave her husband. At least Bill went after a grown woman not a young boy like so many republicans.

Now that the press is satisfied that Obama is all but officially announced the nominee, I guess they are pretty bored on what to report. This story totally has no interest to anyone at all. Good for Hillary for going to church, even when it is uncomfortable. Where is Obama attending lately?

Posted by: dwc | May 18, 2008, 1:15 pm 1:15 pm

OK, this is a stupid topic, just another one of ABC’s bias against Hillary, picking at every little insignificant thing, while Obama makes huge gaffes and you don’t say anything. I’m even more shocked at some of the responses, like Kris in AL who says that this is somehow related to how she will be president. Kris askes “what won’t she tolerate”??? So , Kris, if you’re going to make that dumb analogy, then try explaining how Obama can sit through 20 years of racist sermons, including his wife giving one of those sermons, and not realize it? So, if he was clueless for 20 years, WHAT ELSE WILL HE BE CLUELESS IN???? get real, will ya?

Posted by: doublstandard | May 18, 2008, 1:15 pm 1:15 pm

So, Bill Clinton was an adulter and lie about it like most men do unfortunately. Now we are nominating a former drug addict that used cocaine and was a big pot head and nicely wrote about it in his book; how much do we know about Obama? I wonder what the Obama cult follower would say about it?
I can see their answer, since was Obama is all good, Obama is perfect to their blind eyes

Though I don’t know Kis in AL, I agree with Kris–she didn’t commit adultery so why should she feel chastened.

Didn’t Hillary also have an affair with Vince Foster? Personally, I don’t think Hillary puts out. That’s why Bill was always chasing these fat women to play with.

Just goes to show how tough this lady is when she has the courage to sit there and listen to discussions on subjects that are clearly uncomfortable for her.
Obama just sends his little fliers through the mail to discuss religion (and people are just supposed to take his word for it), rather than face actual questions from voters in Kentucky on the subject head-on…
But then again that’s how he treats all subjects that do not appeal to him.

It is very annoying when reporter brings back this issue. Most of american wants to improve our economy and iraq war.

What is the reporter trying to tell us here? Tell me, because I can’t figure it out.
I could use an equally snarky article on Obama sitting through 20 of racist, anti-American rants. At least THAT has something to do with this election.

I am an ardent Obama supporter but as for this story, I’m amazed at the comments that seem to blame Hillary for Bill’s marital “indiscretions”. To suggest that she should have left him or worse yet, killed him because of the Monica Lewinsky affair (and any other trysts he may have had) suggests either an amazingly shallow opinion of marriage or an overblown view of the importance of sex. In either case, I say “grow up”.

Posted by: rtw | May 18, 2008, 1:31 pm 1:31 pm

He was talking about the sin of adultry. Why is that controversial?

Posted by: Joan | May 18, 2008, 1:32 pm 1:32 pm

Adultery is a theme older than the Bible and a very common topic. It is very much not unique to the Clinton relationship. What is signficant is that Hillary appears in the latest polls to be padding her huge lead in Kentucky and closing sharply on Obama in his “locked down” Oregon territory.
Could be yet another huge Hillary comeback this Tuesday.

Posted by: hopesprings52 | May 18, 2008, 1:32 pm 1:32 pm

Hold on…
Bill was an adulterer… and Hillary was a passive victim?
Maybe not.
Recall that Hillary was a world-class enabler for Bill’s moral and ethical lapses. She designed the “nuts-or-sluts” defense for all the female targets of Bill’s addiction.
So sitting through a sermon on adultery is a problem on two levels. First, it raises Hillary complicity in the Clinton moral equation.
Second, it questions her judgement in thinking that merely attending a church service absolves her of her past “sins”.
Perhaps the greater sin is that of ambition at any ethical cost.
Whoops. There they go again.

Kris in AL:
To answer your question:
This is exactly what makes Hillary the most qualified person for the job, because she would know how to separate what has transpired in her personal life from her PROFESSIONAL life.
In my opinion, what she had to tolerate from her husband in the interest of family unity in her PERSONAL life, would make her LESS likely to tolerate it in any other situationin her PROFESSIONAL life……

This is BS at it’s absolute worst. Is this somehow a parallel with Rev. Wright? Is it supposed to show that Clinton is a hypocrite? All it really shows is that ABC is nothing but a tabloid. Jounalism? Not even close. Next they’ll be folowing her to the grocery store and reporting that she passed by the cigarette counter and didn’t protest big tabacco.

Thank you Eloise Harper! It’s about time that a woman journalist has had the integrity and guts to write about the most obvious of Clinton liabilities. We must be reminded of both Bill’s awful damage he did to our country and the Democratic party, and Hillary’s bizarre avoidance of it and crass attitude toward it for her own political purposes. Women in fact need to be reminded right now how Hillary totally disregarded the dignity of Bill’s women,(remember “Bimbo Eruptions — her term),in defending him in order to keep power. Hillary Clinton stands for no woman but herself.

How strange that the sermons that Obama heard for 20 years didn’t make him uncomfortable.
Listen my ex cheated on me about when Bill cheated on Hillary….my ex cheated with his personal trainer….no one in my life brings this up constantly…and I have no trouble going to the gym.
Would it be news if Obama had been sitting through a sermon about loyalty to personal friends or following the teachings of your church (like anti white Black separtism)
When is the MSM going to get tired of attacking Hillary with her husband’s infidelity?
When are you going to tell the story of Alice Palmer?

Posted by: Two-cats | May 18, 2008, 1:41 pm 1:41 pm

Bill’s personal behavior was certainly not admirable but as GOP Rep. Chris Shays said : “If we held the members of Congress up to this same standard we would lose two-thirds of them.” I admire Hillary for hanging in and working it through (for Chelsea) and her family instead of packing it in. Stop and think about the upheaval that might have been created also for the country if Hillary didn’t hold it together at that time.

Posted by: hopesprings52 | May 18, 2008, 1:42 pm 1:42 pm

Talking about adultery, the story doing the rounds on various websites the last couple of days is about Obama having his own Monica Lewinsky -or should I say Marvin Lewinsky? – moment in the back of a limo a while back.
If the Republicans get traction on this one, the election is over. Period.
Let that campaign supporter, whose candidate is without baggage, cast the first stone.

How interesting everyone knows what Bill and Hillary Clinton think. We must have a nation of psychics!! They aren’t the first and will not be the last for one or both partners to have a relationship outside the marriage. But they are public figures so everyone seems to think they are entitled to the business of their private lives. Either you are all too young or too forgetful to remember John F. Kennedy who was one the biggest womanizers but yet still revered as a great president. Hillary just can’t seem to win either way. I’m sure the fact she is a woman has nothing to do with it?? Our genitals have little to do with leadership and what is required to become a great president. Monogamy is the great American myth. Time to grow up America.

My neighbor’s have affairs as do my friends and as far as I’m concerned it’s on them, not me. As long as they don’t involve me in their excuses to be away for their affairs, I really don’t care what they do or with whom.

If Hillary is a church goer this isn’t the first time she sat through a sermon about adultery. Hillary is not the only strong woman out there and she is not the first person to hold on to someone who cheated. It is unfortunate how ignorant and hate filled some of these bloggers seem to be. You put out false information on the internet about the candidates. Some of you are so racist it is appalling! American has a lot to do to clean itself up! We are a disgrace to other countries. We are so busy trying to tell others how to live but look at the hate displayed in these blogs. God Help America!
You want to talk about church. I would guess that many of you writing comments go to church and have no problem spewing hate as soon as you leave the church. Then again many of you probably don’t know what church is all about. I’ll say this, the Lord has control over this election and everything else. If its Senator’s Obama’s time to be president, he will be president and hating on him won’t change a thing! If it’s Hillary’s time then Hillary will be president. So Stop the Hating!

King David committed adultery.
Yet, many Jews look upon King David as one of their greatest kings.
Of course, adultery is a sin, but it is not a sin to be a victim of an unfaithful spouse.
Although this article was obviously meant to give negative press coverage to Hillary, I respect Hillary for her grace under pressure, but I look down on ABC for engaging in this veiled negative political attack.

The topic of Rev. Fryman’s sermon is just as irrelevant to Hillary’s campaign as the topic of Rev. Wright’s sermon is to Barack’s campaign. Neither candidate is responsible for what his or her minister happens to preach. I care more about what the CANDIDATES say, and the media are not spending enough time reporting their positions.

You guys just don’t really get it do you? It is really frightening to see what a woman be with such strength and intelligent. Why can’t you accept the fact that Hillary Rodham Clinton represents the women of the future. That one day women will really gain the understanding of what a man is and what it takes to keep a family together. Hillary and other intellectual women have understood this but what Hillary had done is let the world knows that she understood. I commend Hillary Rodham Clinton for what she represents and whole heartedly support her for the precedential candidacy. I just hope it won’t be too late for other women to wake up, educated themselves in our history in women suffrage era and vote for Hillary. I really hope that women would understand that we as women were an after thought to a man. Our ancestral had fought, negotiated, manipulated and begged to all the rights that we have now. But it’s still not enough, we work side by side with men and do the same exact job but still get paid less. Think about it, who would be the most effected representative when it comes to women issue?

Posted by: mzmare68 | May 18, 2008, 2:38 pm 2:38 pm

I think the issue that concerns me the most is Michelle Obama’s comment about “being proud of America for the first time.” I don’t care how she now tries to spin it, IT IS DISTURBING. I’m not concerned about Hillary’s husband’s sex life, I’m concerned about what the candidates REALLY BELIEVE ABOUT AMERICA.
If Michelle (really I mean Barak) isn’t very proud of the modern United States, then his black liberation IMMERSION may be a real threat to the vast majority of all the voters including Democrats.

our beloved john f kennedy was quite the womanizer himself. i wonder why did anybody ask jackie o why she stayed with him or insult caroline and ask her in public about her daddy. many articles have been written about Martin Luther King’s escapades. 8 past presidents are reputed to have had illicit affairs while married. including thomas jefferson, warren harding, f.d.r and according to sources jefferson fathered a child of a slave. the truth is that back then these affairs were treated more like romance novels than sex scandals so this is not new. bill clintons sex scandal went global due to the internet (and the republicans hatered toward him) not due to its uniqueness.

This is like National Enquirer or TMZ type of reporting. The story is she went to church. Maybe the sermon is relevant if she or her campaign requested the subject (which I highly doubt) but I think ABC is just sensationalizing the story to up hits on their website or embarass Sen. Please report on Sen. Clinton’s campaign and refrain from this sort-of gossipy bs. She deserves better.

I agree. I can’t believe I wasted 2 minutes reading that. So what?? ABC, can’t you find something better to write about???

Posted by: DMK | May 18, 2008, 3:17 pm 3:17 pm

I am sure that this minister was informed that Sen. Clinton would attend his church. If that was his planned sermon he should have changed it, how cruel and insensitive. Christian behavior ? I don’t think so. However it does continue to illustrate how strong Hillary Clinton is. It appears to me that most of the people making the negative comments about the Clintons staying together site Christianity. Forgiveness is one of the main tenets of the faith.

I hate to disagree with you, she has committed adultery, she had several affairs during her time in the WH, mostly with women, There have been several WH aids and several SS that have made it public. Don’t believe me? do a google search on Hillary Clinton Lesbian.

well … what is ABC trying to do? … upstage the National Enquirer? … this is an ugly news story … I am sure the sermon had nothing to do with Hillary … and sermons are prepared for individuals but for the entire audience.
… this is really more of a negative for ABC then it is for Hillary!

Posted by: jackson | May 18, 2008, 3:29 pm 3:29 pm

And the real issue is: Hillary didn’t have an affair in the White House, she didn’t have time because she was working on health care. Bill might have fooled around a little.

I can imagine the conversation behind closed doors when the monica thing went public,
Hillary: I want a divorce!
Bill: If you divorce me I will go public about your sexual preference.
Hillary: Now bill, we don’t need to go there.
Bill: You stay and help me through this and I will help you win the WH.
Hillary: It’s a deal.

Maybe all the men at ABC had never taken a little on the side, they are all good faithful, honest to goodness husbands.
Gay relationships are allowed and welcome in some states and there is nothing wrong with that, but here we have ABC playing pious and sanctimonious over adultery.
Kennedy the most loved POTUS sure did not have a clean record but some act as if that never happened, hypocrites that is what some at ABC are.

HILLARY CLINTON IS THE GREATEST CAMPAIGNER IN AMERICAN HISTORY !!!
HILLARY CLINTON CAN BEST WIN IN NOVEMBER:
IT’S ABOUT ELECTABILITY !!!
It’s time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania, and loss in Indiana and West Virginia makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.
Sen. Obama has zero chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources without Hillary Clinton. Zero chance.
It is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.
Hillary Clinton say’s that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Sen. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.
Sen. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Sen. Obama can not win this November. You have to remember that the Clinton’s have won the Whitehouse twice before. They know what it takes.
If Sen. Obama fails his test of commander and chief we can only hope that Hillary Clinton can continue her heroic fight for the American people. And that she prevails. She will need all the continual support and help we can give her. She may fight like a superhuman. But she is only human.
Don’t be fooled by the pledged delegate, and math arguments. Neither candidate has the necessary pledged delegates. The entire delegates counts, and votes from Florida, and Michigan are not even being counted. Plus the democratic caucuses, and primarys have been heavily corrupted by fraud, and vote cheating. The only relevant question now is who can best WIN IN NOVEMBER and take back the Whitehouse for the American people. And the answer is HILLARY CLINTON. Everyone knows that now.
Sincerely
Jacksmith… Working Class :-)
p.s. Cynthia Ruccia – I’m with ya baby. All the way. “Clinton Supporters Count Too.”

This is why it matters: Pres. Clinton lost the White House to the Republicans because he had an affair with a 22 year old intern and was voted on for impeachment by the Republicans. Average Americans were incensed by Pres. Clinton’s affair. This opened the door to 8 years of terrible Bush policies that have hamstrung America. We need to ask ourselves, do we want Pres. Clinton intimately involved in the White House again? It matters.

What a clueless, partisan moron you are. I assume you have extensive data to show that republicans make up the majority of gay pedophiles in this country.
On a broader note, most of our politicians SUCK. The country is going down the toilet mainly because people only want to advance their self interests over those that will benefit the country as a whole.
This bitter partisanship we see all too often is why nothing significantly positive gets done in Washington or by many of the states. I have voted on both sides – Dem and GOP over the years, trying to select a good candidate, but mostly now I’m trying to pick someone who SUCKS THE LEAST.
Obama will raise my taxes and so will Hillary with their pseudo-socialist income redistibution focus. They all, including McCain, will make millions of illegals citizens and many million more to follow to take away more American jobs and rob us of our ever-increasing tax dollars.
BOTH parties have sold out the American public on energy policy for the last 3 decades. That’s because they’re being paid off through lobbyists of the oil industry and foreign interests.

I’m so glad the pastor held that sermon. Hilary is person that goes into denial when things aren’t going her way. She gave us all a pictorial as to what her presidential campaign would be like, by the way she ran her primary campaign! Most women like her, pick abusive men. She obviously, although smart, has some self-esteem and emotional issues. I find it ironic that she thinks she represents womens rights, when she blamed Monica and all the other women Bozo had affairs with, rather than shown strength and courage and left Bozo the red nosed clown! Hilary represents weak, insecure women, not real women! That’s why she is not going to be president! Real women hate what she represents which is insecurity, denial, and shrewed masochistic manipulation!

The Clintons were virtually kicked out of the White House because Bill Clinton had an affair with a 22 year old. Now that’s barely more than 21 years old, still a very young, naive, kid. The Clintons created a backlash of near hatred toward them, which was kept burning by Newt Gingrich (while he was having an affair, he now admits!!) So do we really need this?? Look at Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama–they are good husbands.

The pathetic Klinton Kool-Aid drinkers will never get it.
Premise: heterosexual marriage is the best way children have for observing first hand the normal “give and take” between the genders, so they can grow up to make their own fully-informed choices as to gender identification and sexual preference in a coercion-free atmosphere.
Premise: people look for leaders who are self-disciplined people capable of controlling their passions and overcoming their faults.
Conclusion: how, then, can a self-absorbed, out-of-control, narcissistic (“it’s all about me!”) numbnuts like Bubba possibly be qualified for the highest job in stealing and redistributing the labor of the common people? Answer: he can’t. Why are so many Clintonista lemmings not offended by the hideous role models Hill and Bill make for America’s children?
America’s balkanized “if it feels good, do it” culture is rapidly circling the toilet bowl. The New Dark Ages are not far off. And, of course, such discomforts as poverty, famine and disease WILL BE the natural consequences of such an unenlightened state.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT SODOMY (HOMOSEXUALITY)?
Genesis 19:5-8
5And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
Exodus 22:19
19Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 18:22
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 18:23
23Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
Leviticus 20:13
13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Leviticus 20:15
15And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast.
Leviticus 20:16
16And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Deuteronomy 1
1These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
2(There are eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)
3And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;
4After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:
5On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,
6The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
7Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
8Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
9And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
10The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)
12How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
13Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
14And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.
15So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.
16And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
17Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
18And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
19And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.
20And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.
21Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
22And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
23And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
24And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
25And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.
26Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
27And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
28Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
29Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
30The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
33Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
34And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
35Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers.
36Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
37Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
38But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
41Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
42And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
44And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
45And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
46So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

I think you Obama Supporters should be more concerned with Obama’s old flame, Larry Sinclair. That story has not been debunked yet, and Obama has not dismissed it as slander. Larry still has a lawsuit going and does not appear to be going anywhere, much to the delight of the Republicans. Likewise for Pastor Manning – his video says Obama and Wright was involved in an relationship. Still silence from the Obama front. If it is a lie, why isn’t he suing the pants off of these guys??? (Pardon the pun). We also haven’t heard anything from the Wrong Reverend Wright on the subject. That’s really suspicious. And let’s not forget the other stuff floating around here on these blogs – Yeah, the Republicans can’t wait… Hint – If you are living in a glass house…

Why does Hillary catch so much flak for not leaving Bill? Jackie Kennedy was admired and she had a cheating husband. Eleanor Roosevelt…same story.
I would think you would admire her for trying to save her marriage…you know keeping her marriage vows…for better, for worse. At least, I think that would be the Christian view.
Personally, I think she should have pasted him a good one along side the head but who am I to judge? I certainly don’t condemn her for staying with him.

Forget Harpee: Here’s the Minister’s opening of the sermon?
Paul Fryman of the State Street United Methodist Church asked the congregation, “How is your commitment level in your marriage this morning?’
Hillary I am sure would answer; “Just fine preech! Bill is out there working his you know what off for me. Thanks for asking. By the way is it true what they say; “He who doeth protest too much? ‘Cause it was true with the Republicans for ‘Family Values’. You’re a Republican aren’t you preech? Yeah, I know; you guys don’t go for young women you go for pages and other husbands if you’re male. Gee that must be hard.

JR: I think that you are overlooking the Democrats poster child, that would be Barney Franks, the queer pimp. Also, don’t forget Ted Kennedy, (you remember him don’t you?) He drowned his pregnant girl friend and ended up paying a fine of around $450.00. Just remember both parties have their perverts. The Democrats worship theirs and the Republicans get rid of theirs. Just my opinion!

@irma – Thanks. Sometimes these Obama Supporters get to sounding so pious that you HAVE to remind them that Obama is not as pure as the driven snow. If he was, he would have had those guys in court so fast, their heads would have spun. Instead – crickets… lol.

since the o j simpson trial i lost my faith in the reality of americas people. the clinton story as well is a good example of how far away the american people are, when it comes to reality.
does anybody thing hillary is playing a honest game????????
does anybody believe in bill clinton, after his lying since more than 20 years and his adultary …..?
As long as more than 40!!!!! % of US people believe, the sun circles the earth, there is no use to estimate them.
I guess, they would at least be prepared to make hillary the nominee.
Oh dear, america quo vadis!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Popular Vote (w/FL)Obama +0.8 %

LeeLee it’s over not matter what that idiot in the pants suit has to say. Take all the remaining delegates and super delegates and even include Florida and Michigan. If you were to allocate all of them 55/45 percent in Hillary’s favor then the final delegate tally would be 2246 for Obama and 2135 for Hillary. Of course that 55/45 will never happen since Obama will win in Oregon, Montana, and SD.

@sieweke – About 50% of the Democrat Party believes in Hillary and Bill Clinton. They gave us 8 years of prosperity and Bill left office with a 65% approval rating, despite the scandal. How about you go check out Obama’s list of lies. I have posted them below for your benefit. When you get done, maybe you can explain to us why Obama lied so much…
OBAMA LAUNDRY LIST OF LIES
1.) Selma Got Me Born – LIAR, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 – Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965.
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder – LIAR, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter – LIAR, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had
4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom – LIAR, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades.

13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office – LIAR, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life – LIAR, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn’t, and never did, exist.
15.) I Won’t Run On A National Ticket In ‘08 – LIAR, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.

25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America – LIAR, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois – LIAR, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year – LIAR, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
28.) No One Contacted Canada About NAFTA – LIAR, the Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.
29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism – LIAR, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction of Israel.

33.) I won Nevada – LIAR, no you did not.
34.) I Want All Votes To Count – LIAR, you said let the delegates decide.
35.) I Want Americans To Decide – LIAR, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.
36.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate – LIAR, you passed 26, most of which you didn’t write yourself.
37.) My Campaign Was Extorted By A Friend – LIAR, that friend is threatening to sue if you do not stop saying this. Obama has stopped saying this.

44.) I Have Passed Bills In The U.S. Senate – LIAR, you have passed A BILL in the U.S. Senate – for Africa, which shows YOUR priorities.
45.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq – LIAR, you weren’t in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be out gutting you Obama. You also seem to be stepping back from your departure date – AGAIN.
46.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care – LIAR, your plan leaves us all to pay the 15,000,000 who don’t have to buy it.
47.) I Only Found Out About My Investment Conflicts Via Mail – LIAR, both companies you site as having sent you letters about this conflict have no record of any such letter ever being created or sent.
48.) I Am As Patriotic As Anyone – LIAR, you won’t wear a flag pin and you don’t put your hand over your heart during the Anthem.
49.) My Wife Didn’t Mean What She Said About Pride In Country – LIAR, your wife’s words follow lock-step in the vein of Wright and Farrahkan, in relation to their contempt and hatred of America.
50.) Wal-Mart Is A Company I Wouldn’t Support – LIAR, your wife has received nearly a quater of a million dollars through Treehouse, which is connected to Wal-Mart.
51.) Treehouse Is A Small Company – LIAR, the CEO of Treehouse last year, made more than the CEO of Wal-Mart, according to public records.
52.) University Of Chicago Hospital Pay Is Fair – LIAR, your wife’s pay raise was nearly 150% her already bloated rate and the hospital is a Non-Profit Hospital, which made $100,000,000 in the last 3 years. They overcharge blacks VS whites for services, and overcharge everyone in general by 538%!
53.)I Barely Know Rezko – Only 5 Billed Hours – LIAR, you have known him for 17 years, and decided to do a real estate deal with him during a time when he was proven to be under investigation. Despite this, you divided your property and had them take off $300K before the mortgage problems started. Then Rezko’s wife buys the lot beside it that you can’t afford, saving you $625,000.
54.) My Donations Have Been Checked Thoroughly – LIAR, you only gave back Hsu ($72K) and Rezko (first $66K, then when caught lying $86K, then when caught lying again $150K and now caught lying YET AGAIN OBAMA, it’s $250k) their money when publically called on their involvement in your campaigns.
55.) My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church – LIAR, your church is so extreme, the pastor who married you, Rev. Wright, just got done blaming the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrahkan their person of the year.
56.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time – LIAR, you still have yet to repudiate Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message – hatred and revenge. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the church that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK – that sure is disagreement, Senator Obama.
57.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko – LIAR, you are not only connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi, who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. Seems Mr. Auchi may have helped Obama buy his million dollar property long before Obama had millions of dollars. Wonder what favors Mr. Auchi expects, when Obama leaves Iraq free to be taken over by special interests such as him.
58.) I never heard sermons like Rev. Wright’s, that have been in videos all day, You Tube – LIAR! 3 days later during your Mea Culpa BS speech you said “Did I hear controversial statements while I sat in that church? Yes I did.”
59.) The Passport Invasion is a conspiracy to find dirt on me! – LIAR. Your own Campaign Foreign Policy Advisor is the CEO of the company that looked into your records. PS – You had them look into yours to hide the fact you looked into Clinton’s and McCain’s more than a year before!
60.) Rev. Meeks has nothing to do with my campaigning – LIAR. Rev. Meeks appeared in ads for your Senate Campaign, donated to you, and helped raise money, then AND NOW. PS – He also seems to despise America.
61.) My wife didn’t mean America is ignorant, she was just using a phrase – LIAR. Again, MicHELLe’s comments perfectly sync with Wright’s, Meeks’, and Farrakhans, both in language, anger, and direction.
62.) I am very Anti-Terror – LIAR. [03/30/2008] One of your good pals is long time radical and terrorist William Ayers, with whom you have been seen in the last 12 months and who has helped the now jailed khalidi, Professor at Columbia who invited Ahmadinejad to the University, to raise money for Palestinian terrorism attacks against Israel. PS – Your church published a pro Hamas Manifesto – guess you weren’t there on THAT Sunday either? How lucky for you.
63.) I have the best plan to cure the Mortgage Crisis – LIAR. [03/30/2008] You and your campaign buddy Penny SubPrime Bank Collapse Prizker have had your little fingers full of subprime cash – Obama has taken $1,180,103 from the top issuers of subprime loans: Obama received $266,907 from Lehman, $5395 from GMAC, $150,850 from Credit Suisse First Boston, $11,250 from Countrywide, $9052 from Washington Mutual, $161,850 from Citigroup, $4600 from CBASS, $170,050 from Morgan Stanley, $1150 from Centex, and last but certainly NOT LEAST – Obama received $351,900 from Goldman Sachs. I am sure that cash all came from folks who knew the subprime loan they had was a dream, eh?
64) I played greater role in crafting liberal stands on gun control, the death penalty and abortion – LIAR – [03/31/2008] It was found that Obama – the day after sitting for the interview – filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer. Read Obama had greater role on liberal survey
65) I did NOT play the race card: – LIAR – [03/31/2008] Obama was the first to play the race card. According to Phialdelphia Inquirer, Quietly, the storm over the hateful views expressed by Sen. Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has blown away the most insidious myth of the Democratic primary campaign. Obama and his surrogates have charged that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has deliberately and cleverly played the race card in order to label Obama the “black” candidate. Read more here
66) I did not take money from oil companies: – LIAR – [03/31/2008]
THE FACTS: True enough, Obama does not take money from oil companies. No candidate does. It is illegal for corporations to give money to politicians.
Corporations, however, do have political action committees that collect voluntary donations from employees and then donate them to candidates.
Obama doesn’t take money from PACs. He also doesn’t take money from lobbyists.
But he does accept money from executives and other employees of oil companies and two of his fundraisers are oil company executives. As of Feb. 29, Obama’s presidential campaign had received nearly $214,000 from oil and gas industry employees and their families, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.
Clinton had received nearly $307,000 from industry workers and their families and Republican Sen. John McCain, the likely GOP presidential nominee, received nearly $394,000, according to the center’s totals.
Two of Obama’s fundraisers are Robert Cavnar, the chairman and chief executive of Houston-based Mission Resources Corp., and George Kaiser, the president and CEO of Tulsa-based Kaiser-Francis Oil Co. Source: Associated press via Yahoo News
67) “I don’t think my church is actually particularly controversial,” Obama said at a community meeting in Nelsonville, Ohio, earlier this month. – LIAR – But yesterday, he told a different story. “Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes,” he said in his speech yesterday in Philadelphia.
68) Look at my education record in Illinois – LIAR – In reality, Obama never really championed the local councils. He supported them behind the scenes and only eventually came out publicly on their behalf. When he did weigh in, he came down on the wrong side of the debate-against protecting principals from unwarranted dismissals and in favor of keeping councils independent, no matter what.
In the end, the resolution of the conflict between the two sides didn’t alleviate anyone’s concerns. Instead, it prolonged a turf battle that seems to have dragged down academic progress in the years since.
Much more so than we might believe.
1. Reports emanating from Africa allege his mother was in Kenya with his ARAB Kenyan (NOT Black Kenyan) father – this is clearly shown in Kenyan Govt. Registry documents which list the father as an Arab Kenyan – at a very late term of her pregnancy and was not allowed on a flight to return to HAWAII.
She gave birth to him in Kenya, immediately got on a plane and then registered him as being born in Hawaii.
2. He is NOT an African American at all but an Arab American and cannot claim African minority status, which by US Federal regulations require a person to have 1/8 (one eighth) of the minority blood (12%).
From his mother he has 50% white blood, from his father he has 43.25% Arab BLOOD and from his MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER he manages to hold onto 6.75% African or Black heritage blood.
He has had to duck and weave all his life and use whatever lies he could use to even “pass for Black” and the benefits that this minority status provided. So even this, while understandable – IS A documented LIE.

So what! When you believe in nothing except yourself you are able to brazen out absolutely anything! Can anyone view Billy BP Clinton in the mantle of George Washington? Washington would not have hired him as a groom.
The effrontery of that clan of liars/thieves is second to none in the world. The appalling thing is that both Bush Sr. and Jr. actually suck up to this “man.”
Now look at the choices we have. Three high priests of the new religion, Global warming. Not one of the three can tell you what a quadratic equation is. They think “valence” is the code word for the tooth fairy (or some other fairy).
All three are tools of giant corporations who want to totally open the borders to invaders from central/south America. Good by USA!
AWAKE AMERICA,the barbarians are inside the gates!

Even if Obama wins the nom, he and Michelle will never get to curl their toes under the bedsheets in the master suite of the White House. Hillary’s supporters will see to that. ABC NEWS FLASH NEXT WEEK—
Senator Clinton will sit through a sermon about how women do not have a penis or testes.

Posted by: TJ | May 18, 2008, 5:13 pm 5:13 pm

Vanessa: for people questioning Hillary’ motive in staying married to Bill Clinton, you should also question Jackie Onassis, Mrs. Larry Craig, Mrs. Bob Packwood, Mrs. Spritz, and strings of women in this whole too, perhaps your mothers. Do not limit this to Hillary. People stay married for a different reason, one thing is certain to me, they have a strong sense of themselves, they stay, perhaps for children, (see how well Chelsea has become even Caroline Kennedy cannot top Chelsea), perhaps for material comfort, perhaps for love. Perhaps Hillary truly loves Bill. So before any woman say something negative about Hillary staying with her man, perhaps that might want to ask yourself: Are you 100% certain that he is not cheating on you. And if he does, why are you still with him?

Hillary’s giving a great speech in Ky on CNN…Why doesn’t everyone go listen to a real speaker give a speech….You just might learn something besides …Change and Hope …And Hope and Change……

The church did not know about Senator Clinton coming until the night before. The sermon was already planned. I was there, and it was not presented at all the way many media are stating it was. It was focused on commitment.. adultery only being mentioned a time or two by the pastor. The sermon was very well presented and was not a political move on part of the church or the pastor. It is sad that there are personal comments being thrown towards the pastor. He was preaching a sermon that was part of a series and happened to be the topic when Senator Clinton came to the church. It was tactfully presented and you people that are making it sound like a personal attack or political move are simply not informed. Love the media spin…

That pastor was out of line to deliver a sermon on this topic knowing Hilary Clinton would be in the audience. She was not the sinner, so why would he intentionally do something he must’ve known would make her uncomfortable?
This does not sound like a very Christian thing to do!
Note: I am an Obama supporter, but this was must a mean-spirited action clearly meant to hurt Hilary

-Marginal Tax rate for ALL, not just millionaires ALL working who make over $40K per year (i.e. wealthy by Obama standards, except of course him and Mama Michelle).
-No discussion ever on 70% out of wedlock black births.
-No drilling for oil anywhere in US.
-The end of corporations.
-The beginning of a Marxist state.

Some of these posters don’t, or won’t get it. The issue isn’t about BIll. Nor is it about her having to suffer humiliation because of Bill. The Poster who sais ” I doubt Monica Lewinski was the first…” probably typifies most who ignore the fact that a whole “war room” was created to counter, primarily “bimbo eruptions”. Get real.
And no, Hillary is not being chastened, either. But let’s not be silly thinking that she’s a woman who simply ‘forgave’ her husband. PULLEEZE. The article is simply pointing out the irony of having to sit through this sermon, since now she’s trying to appeal to those in the bible belt. The irony also applies since when she tried to make her stamp as a feminist she proudly crowed “I’m not going to be like Tammy Wynette and stand by your man, baking cookies, etc”.
If it wasn’t for her political, and monetary ambitions, which drove her from her early days as a lawyer (fighting unionization against Walmart, and TCBY no less), she wouldn’t be with Bill any more. Found her voice, my foot.
People are more disengaged than they realize, and no matter which of the three stooges we end up with (largely as a result of this disengagement) we are soooo screwed.

Libby… It was a purposeful attack… it was planned prior. They found out the night before that she would be at the service. Again, it was not an aggressive sermon to attack anyone… including Senator Clinton. Consider the fact that it is being presented that way when it really wasn’t. Go listen to or watch the sermon when it is available.

I understand Hillary forgiving him,the first time. But it is difficult to comprehend, giving the circumstances surrounding the Monica Lewinsky affair, why she let him off the hook. I’ve been married 39 years (in two weeks)but if I acted with such callous disregard for my wife the way he did, I wouldn’t even get back in the house. My stuff would be on the lawn when I got home. And it wasn’t about the sex, as so many have portrayed it. It’s about the betrayal of people who care about you, and the lying and the cavalier attitude toward his lack of moral terpitude. And by not taking a stand, she’s indicating she thinks that’s ok. And it’s not!!

For those of you who missed it the first time:

That’s looking bad? Looks like a lot of support, and also looks like neither candidate has managed to cross the finish line yet. As much as the media wants to make decisions about this race, they don’t get to, the voters do. And it’s apparent to me that it’s not over.

It doesn’t appear that bad for Clinton. According to the May 16th American Research Group poll, Clinton leads Obama 65-39 in Kentucky and is trailing in Oregon 45-50. It wouldn’t be too wise for Obama to stress his “pledged delegate” lead from the caucuses given that the pledged delegates don’t actually vote for the nominee until the Denver convention.

The big deal is we know who counselled him – his “brainiac” (snort) spouse whose now running for POTUS. If they weren’t smart enough to realize that acknowledging the incident & then asking for the next topic was the right way to handle the situation & instead chose perjury (remember they are both Ivy League trained attorneys, even though she couldn’t pass the DC bar) then they should not be in public office… looking over shoulder to make sure not being pursued by Arkansas Sudden Death Syndrome… total slimy self-serving power hungry creeps. Hillary didn’t sign the NAFTA agreement created under BUSH and left for Bill to have to sign it. Hillary and her witness George Stephanapolis (however you spell his name)stood against the trade agreement. Bill wanted her to promote it. In any case we all thought that the trade agreement would make things economically better for Mexico and in turn us. That is why Hillary now says it needs to be tweeked. See trade helps the economy of nations involved. A better world economy would lead to a better world. Now, workers rights is a whole other issue. When the Industrial era began here in the United States, child labor was exploited which is why we have such stringent child labor laws. Now those changes need to occur in rising Third World countries, with our help (pressure) and our economic leverage over all. Any countries wanting to trade will have to deal politically and through legislation with the labor issues. Workers rights is an endless fight.

JR…Millions of men and women have cheated for years. Don’t act like you don’t know that. The Clinton’s are past all that and it seems to me their marriage is very strong from it. They seem very much in love.
Alot of men ask for a divorce and take off with another woman or vice versa. The children are devasted by it. They made a wise decision and got over it. I know I am. She’s still the best one for President. None of this has anything to do with her intelligence and ability to lead this country. However, it seems to me that only the ones that are voting for Obama have a problem with anything the Clinton’s do.
You should start thinking about the problems Obama has. His church, do you remember right. They came out so that he could make a speech and shut everybody up about his disgusting Pastor and he disappeared. Worked like a charm. Just remember his Pastor also said that he would be at the White House when Obama is President. There’s a real problem. Can’t you just picture their celebration??? Posted by: Garland | May 18, 2008, 6:40 pm 6:40 pm

So I went to finish dinner and I come back and see what drivel has been written- So here was my point- Hillary supporters don’t think it’s fair if she is judged because of what Bill did. Obama supporters don’t think it’s fair if he is judged for what his former pastor did. McCain’s supporters haven’t even had to defend what people he knows have said..YET. It is all guilt by association. We either judge everyone by the actions of their aquaintances or we can judge NOONE. You can’t bend the rules to favor your candidate and live in some dream world where you are always right.
My main point was perhaps if we can discuss the issues then maybe we will all find that we are looking for the same thing come January 2009. But hey if you want to keep playing the blame game then have fun.. drive away the supporters that we ( no matter who’s side we are on) should want to embrace not only in November but for the future of our country. Whatever makes you guys happy- because none of this bickering over this inconsequential garbage is going to put food in my kids mouths. How about yours?

Never once did he ever speak up against any of it until his chance to become president became at stake!!! I’m very glad that didn’t remain a private matter kept untold by the news media!
Our religious beliefs & faith–or lack of–are a part of each & everyone of us. It is good that the media is giving reports like this even though they may appear to be trivial in importance.

Jake, do you wonder why women might feel disrespected during this campaign? What motivated you to run this article? Did you want to humiliate Senator Clinton? What motivated you to include this? Is this news? She paid for this event so many times in the past. Why would you take any pleasure in running this at all? Time to show Senator Clinton some respect.

I guess it really does boil down to what the meaning of the word “is” is. It’s a question that will have to be answered in all 57 states!

The Health Care will be based on income and afforability. Look, I remember too and they found minutes of the so called NAFTA meeting where she did make such statements against it. So, we just have different perceptions and memories of the same issue. I am all for Universal Health Care. I believe it is a HUMAN RIGHT up there with food, shelter etc.

We either judge everyone by the actions of their acquaintances or we can judge NOONE.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Great post! I like you wished there was more talk about political issues and not about things types of personal issues. However, I have a feeling that WHEN Mr. Obama secures the nomination soon, you’ll still have MANY Clinton supporters who WON’T talk about politics, but about these ‘rumors’ and ‘gossip’ concerning Mr. Obama because Mrs. Clinton couldn’t win the Democratic nomination.
Hillary is such a phony. She’s in church only because its campaign season. Her marriage is fake – her husband is a serial cheater and she doesn’t care. She only cares if he gets caught and it harms her political aspirations. That she could sit through such an appropriate sermon, straight-faced, acting oblivious, only proves how phony she really is.
Posted by: Dave | May 18, 2008, 7:03 pm 7:03 pm
The reason Hillary could stay with Bill through his cheating is because SHE was cheating as well. Their Arkansas security chief Larry Patterson says that whenever Bill was travelling he was either driving Hillary to Vince Foster’s house or driving Vince to the Governor’s mansion. It was a political marriage all along.
JR…Millions of men and women have cheated for years. Don’t act like you don’t know that. The Clinton’s are past all that and it seems to me their marriage is very strong from it. They seem very much in love.
Alot of men ask for a divorce and take off with another woman or vice versa. The children are devasted by it. They made a wise decision and got over it. I know I am. She’s still the best one for President. None of this has anything to do with her intelligence and ability to lead this country. However, it seems to me that only the ones that are voting for Obama have a problem with anything the Clinton’s do.
You should start thinking about the problems Obama has. His church, do you remember right. They came out so that he could make a speech and shut everybody up about his disgusting Pastor and he disappeared. Worked like a charm. Just remember his Pastor also said that he would be at the White House when Obama is President. There’s a real problem. Can’t you just picture their celebration??? Obama, Michelle, Wright, Ayers, Auchi, Rezko, Alsammarae, Farrakhan, Hamas, Black Panthers, etc. etc. etc . WHAT A COUNTRY!!!
Jed… Are you suggesting preachers do not preach on topics such as commitment and sin? Sure… people would love to hear of the cheerful things that make them feel like they are always doing right. Looking for fame? No. If he had known that she was going to be there and changed the sermon just for that to try to catch attention… sure.. but that’s not the case here. This pastor is getting flack from people like you because of ridiculous spin. Inform yourself before you speak.
What I find REALLY appalling is there is no reportage about how dreadfully flawed all three front runners are. Two Marxist-Socialists on the one side, and a self-decieved Liberal Republican masquerading as a Conservative on the other are making headlines every day now, but no one is telling the Truth about these Losers. First of all, thank you BGresident, for that info from attending the sermon. And thanks for your church welcoming Hillary and the pastor giving a thoughtful and uplifting sermon.
Also, thanks to the many, even Obama supporters who told this ABC news blogger what you thought of the presentation on this topic. The sentiment is appreciated by Hillary supporters, to be sure.
Now, I’m going to suggest a couple of things that are counter to the prevailing opinions.
First, I think this topic of Hillary attending church and what the sermon topic was is relevant. People have an interest in how Hillary would deal with and handle something that she acknowledges was a painful time in her life. And thanks to Republicans, we all witnessed it.
Second, I would not be so sure that the minister did not know Hillary would be there and Hillary did not know what the sermon would be about. I could be wrong, but it would be unusual for Secret Service not to check whether with the minister whether it would be ok for Hillary to attend his sermon.
Along those same lines, this is an issue that certainly is an issue, and this is a way for Hillary to have addressed it. To sit there and listen to the word of God concerning faithfulness and commitment, including adultery. She demonstrates what all of us want to see, leaders who are humble enough to listen to word of wisdom and the teaching of God.
Lastly, had the minister given a Reverend Wright sermon, Hillary would have walked out.
That’s the difference between Hillary and Obama.
Hillary ’08
God forgives us for our sins. Why can’t some of you forgive them. It was personal. It wasn’t your spouse. This is nothing in comparison to what Obama has done. He lies about his church for heavens sake. He’s told so many lies it’s ridiculous. He changes his stories every day. Haven’t you read LeeLee’s posts. It will refresh your memories on all the lies he really has told. You really should look at all of her posts. One of them in particular is quite lengthy but I can assure you what she says is facts. It is really a good read and quite informative. I have read the information before from other sources. Obama will eventually hear again about Larry Sinclair. There was a murder involved that it seems he knows something about. Google Obama Larry Sinclair and murder. You should be able to pull it up. Do your research about this guy. I don’t think you’ll want him as our President.
92. Hilary Clinton lacks a sense of honor.
93. Her terms as a US Senator are totally unremarkable and mainly self-serving.
94. She voted against a Partial Birth Abortion ban, essentially legalizing the murder of live babies. A president’s primary duty is to protect life and liberty.
95. Her Clinton Administration, like previous ones, would be mired again in embarrassing sexual scandals, corruption charges and distractions from goals.
96. Once instituted as Commander-in-Chief, she would be unwilling to strengthen and uphold those in uniform, much less ever learn to salute them properly.
97. She is essentially against free trade with foreign countries and deeply misunderstands capital flow.
98. A future Hilary Clinton Administration will be compromised by questionable campaign donations from criminals and anti-American foreign contributors.
99. Hillary Clinton says she would not have started the war in Iraq and would end it immediately. Yet she has always voted oppositely and expediently.
100. As with some other far-left Democrats, Hillary’s “change” would be Marxist in nature, and lead to the loss of Americans’ personal liberties and national pride.
ok, first of all, I was there at this church service. The sermon was 15 minutes long. He actually didn’t even mention the word “adultery,” there was only a positive spin on marriage and husband and wives loving each other. Pastors these days write their sermons weeks before the day they preach them, (to avoid stuff like this) and this pastor had like less than a 24 hours notice of her attending, the congregation knew the passage of scripture the Sunday before, ABC news is just trying to make something out of nothing.
Trash is as trash does and God and everybody else knows that Bilge Clinton is trash. He was trash in Arkansas, trash in the White House and continues to be trash on his wife’s(?) campaign. The most
unfortunate aspect of his trash complex
is that there are people in this country who respect trash if it has power and money. A pox on all their houses.
Do any of you Clinton supporters believe that Hillary would get any respect from the middle east rulers? Give me a break. Their culture puts women a shade below a dog in social standing. Plus be realistic. Hillary would be a lame duck president, half the congress she would attempt to work with can’t stand the sight of her.BTW I am taking bets on how long she will last as a senator for NY. I think they have had enough of her also.
@Carol- agreed, agreed! From both sides comes language that neither represents nor identifies their candidate’s strength or character. My hope is that all of us can look past the hurtful language and look for the “good” people- on both sides. Makes me wonder if some of these posters are even old enough to vote. Nice to see we can agree on something here, even if we don’t agree on candidates.
According to Bill Clinton, the act Monica performed on him does not rise to the level of adultry. I think every married man owes him a thank you as he has created case law. I just hope his hand wasn’t close to the button while it was going on, he could have pushed it by mistake while she had him writhing around, firing an ICBM at the Russians…
andtherealissueis: You want Obama to win so you are trying to destroy Hillary. I support Hillary all the way. It will never work. She is the best candidate out of the ones that are running. Obama is the last one I would choose. He is a corrupt Chicago mobster. His role in the Rezko case is deep and is ongoing. There is a lot more to come on this story. Larry Sinclair too. I hope they close in on him soon. All of the Obama supporters are going to feel like fools! But, why haven’t you researched his past? When I think about how many of you have wanted to make him our President with all of the facts that I know, it makes me wonder how intelligent some of you are. We have the internet. We don’t have to depend on the biased media. Research for yourself. What could be more important. This will affect us for years to come. It could even change this country from an awful position from this administration to an even more dire situation than this. Do we want a president that only votes present to preserve his candidacy for a second term??? He has no stance on anything. He will have to ask Hillary what she would do. He knows she has the answers. I don’t think when he is President he will ask her though. I think he will ask his mentor Wright. Wright will then check with Farrakhan. Then if Michelle approves he will act on the decision. How blind can some of you be???
Blue Max said,”I am all for Universal Health Care. I believe it is a HUMAN RIGHT up there with food, shelter etc.”
Nay, Sir, you have no “right” to anything. You came into this world naked and crying, owning nothing and owing everything to your Creator. You have no resources of your own, everything you have is a Gift. I suggest you begin apppreciating the gifts you have and exercise the most important of your gifts, the ability to work and EARN enough to buy Healthcare. That way you control what you have and cannot blame anyone else for it. But while you do that think about this. Do you want your healthcare to come from the same Genius’s who brought us Social Security and then Raped the excess balances and spent it on everthing under the Sun except retirement benefits for the people who paid into it. How do you like your Ponzi Scheme served, Medium or Poorly done? Well, yes, EVERYONE would have healthcare but it will be dreadfully mediocre. No thanks!
Chelsea Clinton is probably the seed of Webb Hubbell, NOT Bill Clinton. Plus she was screwing Vince Foster, too. Also, Hillary is a lesbian. It is just the ugly truth.
Check out post #207 on this FreeRepublic web link to see a photo of the strikingly similar Webb Hubbell and Chelsea:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1157419/posts?q=1&&page=201
Hillary knows that if all those hard-working, church going blue collar Hispanic and minority women knew she was screwing BOTH of her Rose Law Firm closest law partners, and that she is a lesbian probably having many affairs (the latest probably with Huma Abedin) and that Hillary is unladylike with a prison yard vocabulary who treats staff and people like dirt … well, these blue collar ladies would dump this fraud in a heartbeat.
Friends tell me that Chelsea looks just like Bill. Then I tell them you have never seen a picture of Webb Hubbell because Chelsea with her big, curving lower lips, nose and cheeks looks JUST LIKE Webb Hubbell. L.D. Brown wrote a book in which he described Hillary and Vince Foster passionately kissing like they were in the backseat of a ’57 Chevy. I think Hillary was doing a lot more than just kissing with Webb Hubbell and Vince Foster, her boyfriends, lovers and best friends.
Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy..s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman..s 17-year career.
Why?
“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.
Norbit- But why are you saying no? Is there a specific policy that you don’t agree on? Or is it strictly the fact that you don’t care for her? See- for me I support Barack, but it isn’t because they have such vast differences between their policies ( they both admit that they are quite similar). My choice is based on wanting someone in the White House that isn’t cynical towards hope… I hadn’t decided who I would vote for , and her speech about hope and change being stupid really made me sad. But I’ll tell you what- when push comes to shove I am voting for her , like her or not. This is not a popularity contest based on how “likable” a person is. Her policies blow McCain’s out of the water.
disgusted – I’m sorry, but the attendance and associations of people we are choosing to be President are the most important factors there are to know these people. It is not personal and none of our business, it is who they are and the foundations of them as a person.
Obama’s associations and being a member of a Black Liberation Theology church, pastored by GD America Wright, mentored by anti-Jewish Farakan, and his association with Marxist Ayers funneling money to Hamas supporters, not to mention his political godfather being the Syrian Rezko funded by Saddam moneyman Auchi, can’t be wished away by saying that what preachers say in church is personal.
Not when it’s our country at stake. If he wasn’t running for president, then fine they can rail against whitey all they want and it’s just Illinois’ business.
However, if something irrelevant is posted about Obama I would also join you in condemning the message. I think for example unkind words are said about his hesitation in speech, stuttering they unkindly say, and I believe he is just trying to be thoughtful. If a news blogger posted an article on that I would consider that not appropriate.
rd- but do not all of these “associations” apply to each of the candidates? If we began to dig into the past of each one of them, dig into their closets would we not come up with information and associations equally as horrifying? In my opinion, we would. That is why I choose to defend each individual on their merits and their grasp on the lives of everyday ordinary Americans.That is my point here.
As you support HRC would you not be offended if the associates of her past, no matter how short lived, or painful they were, were shoved into your face everyday?
It’s all about the issues ..issues not “people of their pasts” – It sounds like a National Enquirer article or something that should be in Star magazine, not a reason why we should despise the other person.
That is what the media thinks sells to us “simple minded” Americans- they think we can be distracted by something shiny, and will never question what the heck is going on in Washington.
but the Clinton’s past has been dug into, with 70 million dollars of taxpayer money by the Republicans, and we see what they were able to dig up. And sure they will keep repeating it and throwing it in their faces. But that means the Clinton’s have been vetted. It’s been through the legal fronts and everyone knows the results.
I am so sorry to tell you that the 527′s have so much to work with with Obama that it’s like striking gold for them. The Republican’s will go after Obama same as they did the Clinton’s and if you though you heard a lot about Whitewater and Monica, you haven’t seen anything yet.
They have only one goal, to utterly destroy a person. Hillary survived 16 years of it, Obama has been treated with kid gloved and he and his supporters will be devastated by the ferocity and ugliness of what people will witness in 527 commercials around the clock.
You can say it’s unfair, call for McCain to condemn it, etc., and certainly Obama has media cheerleaders who will resist as much as possible publicizing it, but Democrats will be going the route of McGovern in ’72, Dukakis in ’86, and Kerry in ’04 in the Dem candidate being destroyed by Republican dirty tricks.
I personally believe that Obama is the only major candidate that can’t survive the GE this year. We would win with Hillary, Biden, Edwards, Richardson, ceratinly some non-candidates like Bayh and Gore, even though I supported Wes Clark in ’04 I don’t think he, Dodd, and Kucinich would catch the public’s votes, but Obama has unprecedented baggage that will be used to absolutely detroy our chances this year.
On the other hand, Hillary is just the better candidate than all of the above and so for me it is for Hillary.
Rodney- Hmmm interesting. I guess I would have judged her maturity and explained to her as much as she could have understood. That’s what I do when my kids come to me with questions about difficult situations ( or uncomfortable questions for a parent to answer ie: sex, drugs..etc). Then I assume since they are loaded that they had dome sort of family counseling, and it seems alot of church.
I don’t know for sure, can’t say I have ever had to explain that one to my kids. The American public took it well though as they explained to us the bare minimums..and here she is with almost 50% of the Dem vote.
We can disagree I just don’t see any point in being disagreeable. One of the things I find most appealing about BO is his disgust at this old time political distraction machine, you know?
Observing Bill Clinton’s almost daily petulant temper tantrums when an audience member expresses support for the Obama candidacy suggests that Slick is very close to loosing it. The “serial groper” is unable to accept the fact that he’s trying to peddle a defective product; i.e. the Serial Enabler, Hillary. This is a woman who hasn’t managed so much as a corner vegetable stand, or for that matter her own marriage; but, of course you could count Whitewater, and her tenure as “Madam” for Bill’s White House Brothel. So what possibly is there that qualifies Bill’s official “Bimbo Containment Chief” for the Presidency? Further, Hillary’s increasingly frequent crying jags raises a legitimate concern about her mental stability. But, having meticulously planned their coveted return to the White House for several years now, the Clintons will certainly not exit the scene with grace or dignity. This is the political duo that honed “The Politics Of Personal Destruction” into an artform; and, most certainly will not tolerate, who is in their mind, the “upstart Obama” to derail Hillary’s pre-choreographed coronation. Rodney- I am well aware of the scandals LOL I am not one of the exit polls easily explained college latte drinking Obama supporters- I know the baggage she has to pay extra for in order to board a plane.
I’m just saying in my world, in my home where we barely make it each month if the situation this year had not produced BO for a viable choice, I would have voted for her. Because her baggage means very little to me, if she can fix the crap that has gone wrong these last few years.
Fortunately, my morals have not been tested and I can and have voted for BO who has none of the baggage that would make me hold my nose.
I was simply defending her on this and on her policy issues which I for the most part agree with ( with the exception of obliterating Iran thank God for Obama being on the ballot at that point.)
Hillary regularly attends church while she is campaigning…Has anyone seen or heard of Obama attending? Obamaknew- I appreciate your candid answer. While I understand how unknown some people think he is, I really encourage you to read one of his books. He describes growing up being part of 2 worlds and how difficult is was for him to come to terms with never fitting in completely with one. I can’t even imagine it to be honest with you, how hard that must have been. His journey brought him to a place in life where he realized he didn’t have to fit neatly into one of these categories..that it was okay to just be himself..to just be a decent human being. That is what makes him special and what makes his supporters such a diverse group of people… the realization that noone is perfect in the eyes of society and that we all have one common goal.
That is part of the change he talks about..that and to change the way politics has been dedicated to making the rich richer off of the sweat and tears of the poor.
As I have stated before, I find both the Dem nominees to have very agreeable policies and ideas to turn this country around. I just trust him more..based on research and my own “gut” feeling. I would not for one instant tell you how to feel towards either of them. I just ask that you look into him somewhere other then negative postings before you write him off.
When Hillary Clinton tries to present herself as the champion of all those hard-workin’, everyday, “just plain folks” types, it might be insightful to consider that the arrangement Bill and Hillary call thier “marriage” has little resemblance to what most people marriage. Hillary is no fool and she’s certainly known about and condoned Bill’s many affairs, and she’s participated with gusto in trashing the reputations of any women who dared to reveal thier affairs with her sleazebag husband. Its been said elsewhere, but Hillary’s Jeremiah Wright is BILL CLINTON
ObamaKnew,
If I were friends with you, should I be blamed for your incisiveness and racial remarks? Say this is 2-in-1 here.
Traditionally, I have seen many condemn the “white” race, or the “black” race, but this is the first time I’ve seen a person get bitter over a “biracial.” Well, nah. Malcom X once disapproved of himself. I would be disappointed if that has been your motivation for using words like “bipolar” to describe Obama.
A few people here have avoided the trap of condemning either nominee, and that should serve as an example to you. Left for ppl like you, your world would be full of those who share your opinions, or insults would be hurled at just any form and degree of variation. What’s more, you’d call them facts. Think before you speak!
Obamknew- In my opinion the MSM are the race baiters..the minute they started their “Exit polling” by classifying voters by race, sex,religion and income they became the true evil. It is a slap in the face to those that actually took the time to go vote by saying some votes are inconsequential because of the color of their skin or their votes are more important because of the church they belong to.
As for feeling sorry for him, that was not the point of my post. You wanted to know more about him and I happened to have that information for you. His mom died so she can’t be by his side right now. As for his grandparents, I know his grandma has been with him for some parts of the campaign but I can’t say anything about grandpa, I honestly don’t know. His family that can be there is there for him during the campaign… and he is proud to have them by his side, regardless of their color.
Mirror, mirror on the wall…
So many double standards, where to begin? Hmmmm…
No, not talking about the Clintons – but about all of us..
If ‘our’ candidate is attacked, made uncomfortable or victim of maliciousness, we are outraged!
However, if it’s ‘the other one’, then do we snicker and gleefully grin?
No matter who you support, if you believe your candidate of choice supports disrespectful and negative posts, spreading unfounded rumours about another – then perhaps you should take another look at your candidate and yourself.
Deal with policies, program issues and pertinent data – remember, negativeness just breeds more of the same.
I don’t believe Senators Clinton, Obama or McCain would support any of the snark and worse that’s being posted here, there and everywhere.
Remember, do unto others…..
Hopefully, each of them wants to lift us up and in order to do that, we must stop tearing ourselves down!
I think that it was her call whether she wanted to “forgive” him or not. That was a matter and is still a matter for them both. I am somewhat disappointed though in her unfeeling for the young girl that Lewinsky was. that was alot for a young girl (albeit a foolish one) to go through and Hillary assisted in the girl’s demise and humiliation. As a mother herself, she could have handled that part better.
But none of this does not effect her candidacy in one way or the other for me. I just think that she is not the best candidate. Obama is.
Setting the record straight …
I had the absolute privilege of being present during the infamous worship service attended by Sen. Clinton today and I want everyone to know the truth of the matter.
To Pastor Fryman – You were in the middle of a ‘verse by verse’ sermon series your congregation had been studying for several months on Christ’s sermon on the mount found in the book of Matthew. You had planned this sermon weeks ago and had no advance warning of the Senator’s arrival. In fact, you were only contacted by the Secret Service about the Senator’s arrival on Saturday evening which is the same time they also were made aware of the sermon topic. It just so happened that ‘this’ was the topic of the day. You simply delivered your message based on Biblical principal. At no point did you target the Senator in your message or for that matter acknowledge her specifically with the subject. In all actuality, you did not make ‘adultery’ the focus of your message, but rather the beauty of ‘commitment’ in a relationship to Christ as well as in marriage. Kudos to you not only for speaking the truth but not altering your congregations plans in worship of the Lord. You are a humble and godly man and the Lord will always be your defense.
To Senator Clinton – thank you for attending the service. You were very much a blessing and it was a very special day in the life of the church to have such a special guest. You were poised and you acted professional and personable in every manner. You were nothing but gracious. I do pray God’s blessings over you and His will in all you do.
To Hillary supporters – this was not an attack on the Senator … quite the opposite. Please do not believe that an attack is what happened. On the contrary, I believe that the Senator was warmly and lovingly greeted from the moment she arrived until the moment she departed. Don’t believe the spin.
To bloggers taking this moment to slam another human being or make a comment based on events where you were not present – Stop! No minister ever attacked Hillary about adultery, at no time did the Senator sit uncomfortably. Please quit jumping on a bandwagon that does not exist.
To Eloise Harper – You are in an occupation expected to dig up dirt, bring about buzz, relive old news if it still has some bite, and frankly write articles that make a name for yourself. Simply put – you achieved your goal. But not by reporting truths. I am unclear of only one thing … exactly who are you spinning for? ABC News? Another campaign? The Hillary campaign? After all you were a part of the Clinton press team allowed in the building … that truth is still out there. Anyway, concerning your mistruths … the worship service, not the sermon was an hour. The sermon was only ten minutes long. It was a short, to the point soliloquy with past, present, community and personal examples of real life, the struggle of marriage and the grace of a God that surpasses all human flaws. You chose to write a story in poor taste attacking not only an innocent woman, but also an innocent pastor.
To Hillary supporters – this was not an attack on the Senator … quite the opposite. Please do not believe that an attack is what happened. On the contrary, I believe that the Senator was warmly and lovingly greeted from the moment she arrived until the moment she departed. Don’t believe the spin.
To bloggers taking this moment to slam another human being or make a comment based on events where you were not present – Stop! No minister ever attacked Hillary about adultery, at no time did the Senator sit uncomfortably. Please quit jumping on a bandwagon that does not exist.
To Eloise Harper – You are in an occupation expected to dig up dirt, bring about buzz, relive old news if it still has some bite, and frankly write articles that make a name for yourself. Simply put – you achieved your goal. But not by reporting truths. I am unclear of only one thing … exactly who are you spinning for? ABC News? Another campaign? The Hillary campaign? After all you were a part of the Clinton press team allowed in the building … that truth is still out there. Anyway, concerning your mistruths … the worship service, not the sermon was an hour. The sermon was only ten minutes long. It was a short, to the point soliloquy with past, present, community and personal examples of real life, the struggle of marriage and the grace of a God that surpasses all human flaws. You chose to write a story in poor taste attacking not only an innocent woman, but also an innocent pastor.
I don’t like her, but it couldn’t have been comfortable sitting through that. Still, this is politics. But, hey, maybe she really does love Bill, so chose to stand by her man. Still, this is politics. Perhaps we are all living her reason for putting up with him right in this election process. Perhaps this is supposed to be the pay off. I don’t know. Judge not, lest ye be judged. Right?
Okay, surely this Minister knew Clinton would be attending this service, so what’s up with the anti-adultery sermon on the day she attends? That was a tacky cheap shot. Shame on you, Minister! For the record, I am not a Clinton supporter.
In my opinion, what she had to tolerate from her husband in the interest of family unity in her PERSONAL life, would make her LESS likely to tolerate it in any other situationin her PROFESSIONAL life……
Reply:
Proffesional to proffesional things in the work place. Hillary knew of Bill’s past because of all the complaintes from women when he was governor. It was the people’s work place, the oval office. We pay taxes to pay for that office and not to be used for his affairs. Hillary lied to us and gave the impression that her husband was faithful, knowing he was not and has not been many times in the past. They are very dishonest people. Get real and look at the irresponsible people they really. And we would give them another chance at shaming the Presidency with their unprofessional work habits.
I will be voting absentee this year from Asia. I have to read most of my US news on the internet now. From this short story, I don’t see that the sermon was directed at Sen. Clinton or her husband. That pastor serves his congregations week in and week out.
Last time I read the US Constitution we still had separation of church and state, which is good. Maybe we should have an amendment to separate sex and state. Many Presidents had mistresses, and we still have a functioning government. Tell me again how lying about oral sex from a mistress had a negative impact on the US government? The Clinton marriage is a private matter.
I am still making my mind up about who to vote for.
Hey Rick…………
you never read the constitution. Please tell me where “separation of church and state” is ANYWHERE in ANY of our founding father’s documents.
AND…if you are UNDER OATH…you have to tell the truth. It is a little something called “the law”. It shows character…or lack of character.
“It depends on what the meaning of the words ‘is’ is.” or “It depends on how you define alone…”.
I am glad Obama kicked her butt. If she really was such a perfect candidate, why would the complete new guy on the block beat her like a rented mule?
If I had a affair my wife would never say a word about it. My wife has a .45 automatic. Nuff said.
I don’t care if Bill Clinton had an affair. None of my business except that a kid shouldn’t have to learn the definition of ‘adultery’ by hearing a news story about his president.
I do care that Bill allowed sensitive military information to get in the hands of Chinese businessmen who made sizable donations to his campaign. Those are the same Chinese businessmen that contributed to Hillary’s campaign.
The whole scandal about Monica was a smoke screen to get attention off of the sale of military information. It worked. Few people today remember that sale.
Hillary’s downfall was, in part, a result of her presumptuous arrogance, which asserted that she was somehow predestined – a “shoo-in” – to be the nominee.
Also, invoking the perception of her husband’s popularity. Alot of people were disgusted by the shenanigans in one of this country’s most venerated edifices.
I think moral integrity is a prerequisite for the job and Mr. Clinton is certainly lacking thereof….
I favor Obama, but, look, Hillary was attending church. It just so happened that the pastor’s sermon was about the sin of adultery and it was, by no means, directed solely at her. So, why should her behavior or countenance during the sermon be of anyone’s business? Why should it even be reported at all? Was Eloise expecting Hillary to react in some dramatic or extraordinary way?
Now, speaking of Hillary’s forgiveness of Bill’s transgressions, I admire her for that. Forgiveness, to me, is the highest virtue because only someone who truly loves can forgive.
I’m also pro-Obama, but I have to say a big “so what?” First of all, Hillary did not commit adultery – Bill did. Second of all, what was she supposed to do? Go running out of the church?
I am not minimizing Bill’s womanizing, which I think is very much an addiction for him. She has her reasons for taking him back and I don’t think love is at the top of the list, however ultimately it is her call, not ours.
In short, this is not news – move on.
I’m glad Hillary got some time. Or at least took some time to focus on what is more important than her desire to be president. And that is her relationship with God. She will need that relationship much more than anything else in the days ahead.
I hope the word causes true repentance.
Everyone needs to read the comment from No Spin (12:33 a.m) I was at the service and No Spin had a very accurate account of the service. Thank you! From what I could see Sen. Clinton did not seem disturbed by the subject…The topic was committment to marriage and no one should question the commitment she has to her marriage! She could have left the church immediately but chose to stay behind (approx 20 min) and greet those that approached her. I admire her for not actively campaigning in or around the church. She was very poised and graceful.
Pastor Fryman is a wonderful, caring, leader of our church whom I wouldn’t trade for anyone. The negative images created in these posts are hurtful and totally unnecessary. Those of us who know him, know the real Paul Fryman and will stand in support for him.
I know for a fact that he did not know she was coming and he had his sermon planned earlier in the week. The topic was posted outside the church earlier in the week and was in the program which was printed mid-week, as always.
What Hillary has created by continuing to campaign is a no win situation for the democrats. What will all of the Hillary supporters that will feel misled and abandoned when she drops out or fails to get the nomination do? The same thing for all the Obama supporters what will they do when or if the nomination goes to Clinton. While it is a sad comment I believe there will again be a needless race discussion. There will inevitably be a portion of the country that will feel slighted.
Hillary claims to be a feminist. Feminists have always taught and believed in self-empowerment and that you don’t need a man to succeed in life.
Hillary is where she is today because of her husband. She has stood by and allowed him to embarrass her publicly with his inability to keep his pants up. If her name was not Clinton, she would not be where she is today.
She is a hypocrite.
You won’t find many who are more conservative than me and chances are I will vote republican in 2008. That said, I think this is a non-issue. First, if you go to church long enough, sooner or later you will hear a sermon on the subject of adultery – or an issue that hits close to home. If you don’t the pastor is probably not doing his job.
Second, this happened more than 10 years ago. I would hope that Mr. and Mrs. Clinton had put things behiind them. If God is willing to forgive individuals for the sin of adultery, certainly Mrs. Clinton should be willing to forgive Mr. Clinton for his transgressions.
Here are a few words from someone who is a member of State Street UMC in Bowling Green and heard the sermon and also saw the disruption that Clinton’s entourage made during our otherwise normal worshipful experience for a Sunday morning. It is beyond me how the media can twist and turn things around to make it sound the way they want and, furthermore, more troubling how we as a society can just scoop it up and run with it! To set the record straight, our church did not hear of Senator Clinton’s scheduled attendance until later on Saturday afternoon (17th). The sermon was already prepared, bulletins were already printed, so her attendance did not change the order of our service. No disrespect to Sen. Clinton, but as the saying goes…”the show must go on”. and “NO”, our service is not a “show” (before this gets twisted around). She was actually informed of the topic of the sermon and from my understanding, she was fine with it. Even though I am not in favor of Sen. Clinton’s campaign, I have to say she carried herself well and was very gracious. She participated in our service and was very respectful to our congregation. On the other hand, her entourage and media crew were not. I and others of our church were appalled at how the news media in her group disrespected the Lord’s house and the service as a whole. Cameramen and a huge boom mic took over one side of the front of our church and the entourage sat in front of our congregation with their Blackberry’s & laptops out, discussing their strategies over their shoulders for all to see. Maybe had they been paying closer attention to the sermon instead of bits and pieces of it, they may have actually given the public an accurate account of the sermon topic, which was more on how we should take Matthew 5:27 and apply it to our marriages. Instead, they have twisted it to look like our Pastor intentionally chose this sermon to poke daggers at Sen. Clinton, as if she hasn’t already been through enough with the media’s coverage of her husband’s past actions. Isn’t it time to give it a rest? So, Ms. Harper, you may want to make sure you listen more closely next time before putting your name on such nonsense.
I can’t help but ask myself one simple questions.
Why is this news?
It is really scary how overwhelmed people in this country are with politics and hate — some of you have no idea how irrational you sound. Every Sunday pastors and preachers all over the world talk about sin. Every person in the world who attends these sermons commit sin. Yet we want to single out an instance of “What Not To Do…” and argue and fight about it. I’m no fan of the Clintons or the Obamas but Jesus Christ people — get over yourselves, you sound pathetic — I thought we were supposed to move on.
I need to take a moment to defend the pastor of this church, but first I’d like to preface my comments by saying that I myself am a member of the media as a photojournalist.
I am offended on behalf of the family and the pastor at the church that the sermon which he delivered Sunday has been construed as a jab at the Clinton family. I am not a particular fan of Hillary as president, but I know the pastor of State Street United Methodist Church, and he was not directing anything at her about adultery. The fact is, the pastor has been doing a series of sermons for the past several weeks on the Sermon on the Mount. It just so happened that this Sunday’s sermon topic was “The importance of and commitment of marriage.” I am ashamed that news organizations have focused in on the word “adultery” – which only was mentioned in the sermon once, and as a quotation from the Bible – and made it out that the pastor was trying to point a finger at the Clintons or “make them feel guilt or remorse” for anything that has happened between them. The pastor even pointed out as he took the lectern that this was part of an ongoing series, not specifically chosen for this Sunday. He was not made aware of Hillary’s visit until Saturday afternoon, at which point he had no time to write a new sermon or select a new topic.
Oh, and it was not an “hour-long” sermon, but the typical half hour. Please don’t make me regret being a journalist by your sensationalism.
OK – just read an article where obama is saying lay off his wife -
So, no one can now talk negative about Michelle obama, but can continue to thrash Hillary over Bill’s infidelities. No one out there knows why Hillary stayed with Bill, but then its non of your business anyway.
The obama followers think that obama doesn’t have to answer to anything in his past – doesn’t’ matter what hed didn’t do in the state senate or US Senate either for that matter, but his followers can continue to bash Hillary and Bill Clinton.
Now, maybe you can understand why obama just doesn’t appeal to everyone. What arrogance. His self-appointed messiah image is just about to blow up. There has to be a limit to how much he expects people to believe in him – my limit expired 5 months ago.
Well, thie comments here certainly portray the christian belief of forgiveness. It totally amazes me that christians can preach one thing and do another. I am a christian, and I do belive in forgiveness, if we cannot forgive our fellow man–how can we expect God to forgive us. Quit criticizing her for forgiving her husband. No matter what a political canidate does or does not do–someone will have something negative to say. This is just a very negative society.
Now is Obama love time, and here we go with totally irrelevant articles.
But than again, maybe not so irrelevant.
I am sure that the only reason Mrs. Clinton did not divorce her lying, cheating husband is the sole reason that she planned way back to get in politics and to run for a President. Yes, most people are proned to give up on marriage for something much less serious. But Hillary learned to forgive such a hedious violation to a marital covenant by her husband. It takes a person of character to do that. I know a lot of people try to ascribe reasons that are crass for her decision. But no one knows that. Give the woman her due.
It was a sermon prepared for a couple who were the pastor was about to Marry and he even mentioned them. It was obviously something planned before anyone knew Hillary would attend and her attendance was a surprise to most of the congregation. This is hardly newsworthy.
I would give a million dollars to know Hillary’s thoughts as she “stared straight ahead during the sermon.”
Yikes, talk about tough (the sermon AND her)–it would seem the sermon-giver was just a bit callous and insensitive as he preached to the choir.
Wow! That was a cheap shot! Of course, because of secret service concerns Paul Fryman had to know in advance Sen. Clinton was coming. What did he accomplish other than needlessly embarrassing her. How was God served by him doing that? I wonder if Paul Fryman is an Obama supporter. ……pretty pathetic. And I am NOT a Clinton supporter, but wrong is wrong!
Bill Clinton has always been a cheater when governor of Arkansas and as President. Hillary is in love with power and she will not let that go. When Bill is of no further use he will be gone too.
It was even more interesting to watch when Bill met Mother Theresa. This little petite woman lectured Bill and Hillary on how precious unborn children were. You should have seen Bill and Hillary stare straight ahead and fidgit. They’re pro death/abortion views just didn’t set right with Mother Theresa and she let them know. Oh that was fun to watch!
It is time for Hillary to cry like a little girl again.She needs a pacifier.
It is Hillary’s fault she is married to a sex-addicted womanizing sloth. She new he was xheating on her long befiore they got married while they were in law school. Furthermore, she is ok with it as long as it does not come public. This is a marriage of comveinence. The only only thing thye have in common is they are both liberals and both have a huge drive for power. They deserve one another!
I am an Obama supporter and I find no reason to hold her up to ridicule for something that her husband did.
I am sure she bleeds when you cut her just like the rest of us do, she just refuses to let anyone see it.
Let’s get over the personal attacks politics and get on with healing our nation.
If Obama wants to get past politics as usual, he will have to call out the media, for being the media as usual.
Eloise Harper could not have written this story without realizing it would bring out all of the predicatable and sordid posts on all of our remaining candidates.
This might have been a story to embarrass Hillary, but it really is an example of the media as usual.
She is a professional politician!! She will let nothing stand in her way, including honesty, intergrity or morality.
This is no laughing matter and the pain caused is something that should be left between the Clintons.
Why make fun or scold them now, all Hillary did was atend church for own personal reasons and that is between her and her God!
Attack Hillary on many other things as well as Bill, but lets leave this between them like we do for American couples and Husbands and Wives!
The comments on this article are stunning to say the least, and yet all I can do is… Yawn.
As cynical as I am about the Clintons isn’t it just possible Hillary loves her husband, fights for her marriage and understands the difference between a covenant marriage and a mere contract. Though he is not faithful, she is and she does so for the good of them all, understanding and living with a man she loves and accepts for all his many imperfections. Or you could be cynical and see it as some type of political deal.
TCR:
TENANTS ARE PEOPLE WHO RENT PROPERTY!
WHEN SPEAKING OF “FAITH” THE WORD IS TENETS!
choses isn’t even a word; the word is chooses.
disingenuine is not a word; perhaps you mean disingenuous.
anyone IS, not anyone ARE. The subject is singular.
You said, “Anyone that choses to call him or herself christian and doesn’t follow all the tenants of that faith are just picking out the parts they like and ignoring the rest.”
Word-smithing would render it as follows:
“Anyone who calls himself or herself a Christian, yet chooses not to follow the tenets of the faith, is merely picking out the parts they like and ignoring the rest.”
Pronouns have a purpose, as do articles, and tenses, and punctuation. And please stop using ‘that” when referring to humans. Please use “who” or “whom.”
Anyone who (not that, we are not objects, we are humans) calls himself or herself (uniformity) a Christian (capitalize) yet chooses (not choses, there is no such word) not to follow (remove “all” redundant) the tenets (not tenants, human renters are not principles of religion) of the (article of faith, not ownership) faith, IS (not are, the subject is singular not plural) merely (better choice than “just”) picking out the parts they like and ignoring the rest.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST SPELL-CHECK?
There are periods and commas and colons and semi-colons (needed after your first religion) and ellipses and all sorts of “marks” that make our missives easier to understand.
You (imperiously) decided that I have no talking points. Since are not able to identify “talking points” I will list some of them for you (there are many handbooks (Bedford, McGraw-Hill, Strunk, etc.) that could help you learn to manage such tasks. They are not expensive.
(a) Point a is SPELLING (is a point).
(b) Point b is GRAMMAR (is a point).
(c) Point c is ARROGANCE (is a point).
(d) Point d is LACK OF COMPASSION (is a point).
(e) Point e is IRREVERENCE (is a point).
(f) Point f is FAILURE TO ERR TO KINDNESS (is a point).
“I do question your mental capacity.”
That is really an obnoxious statement. I clearly write, and spell at a sufficient level (and clearly superior to you). The fact that you do not acknowledge your heavy errors (such as the ridiculous use of “TENANTS” (people who rent land) are the same as TENETS of faith seems to be a serious personal problem.
That I took offense at silverlady INSULTING THE ENTIRE GROUP was not reason enough for you to insert yourself into the exchange.
You took it upon yourself to instruct ME as to the “tenets” (not tenants) of my faith. So I must ask, how many years of instruction have you had in my faith?
At any rate, that you lectured me on DARING to criticize silverlady (whom you believe is correct) (or perhaps YOU are silverlady using a different name). Your spelling is similar and your arrogance, tendency to blame, and lack of compassion are the same.
You are of the belief that it is hunky-dory if silverlady INSULTS EVERYONE but I must not call her on her broad-brushed approach to criticism.
You are of the belief that I must “forgive” everyone, but silverlady does not need to forgive anyone, even if they are merely exercising their right to hold an opinion.
You are of the belief that I must “forgive” everyone (or that “my” g-d will rain down punishment on me), but YOU do not have to forgive me.
You are allowed to condemn me, and silverlady can condemn everyone else, yet I cannot criticize your condemnation!
I am commanded to forgive all, even murderers, yet you do not have to forgive ME for saying something that offends YOU.
According to you, you hold special dispensation!!! You are allowed to judge, nag, lecture, harangue, and condemn. Yet, you do not have to forgive. How convenient for you. I am not allowed to renounce silverlady on her nasty condemnation of everyone (INCLUDING THE INNOCENT). Furthermore, I am not allowed to cross you at all, or suffer the wrath of your indignation.
I am TOLD ( by you) that I MUST FORGIVE EVERYONE AND AT ALL TIMES (INCLUDING A HYPOTHETICAL MURDERER OF A SPOUSE) or suffer the wrath of G-d and the loss of faith, BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FORGIVE MY DISAGREEING WITH YOU!!!
You of all people, are allowed to NOT FORGIVE! You are allowed to hold a grudge (or merely cast aspersions and/or punishment and move on). According to you, I must forgive all, or suffer “having my faith withhold” but you do not have to forgive anyone. I guess the next question is, who died and made you G-d?
I, as a conservative voter since the days of Reagan, will vote for John McCain, on a very very cold day south of here.
If you even look at a person with lust in your heart, you’ve already committed Adultery according to God!. As far as Hillary going to church, more power to her!. Now!, if she starts talking politics in church, how can she or any other Democrat,(with an ounce of dignity) say “OH look at the Republicans using religion to gain votes!!”. Yes Bill cheated on her. How many times? I can’t count that high!. As far as Sermon’s lifting anyone up, The Bible speaks of sin’s, happiness, love, honor etc.. So a sermon on thing’s you SHOULD NOT DO, that may make you feel uncomfortable, is quite ok according to GOD!.
Funny, I thought sticking with your marriage and making things work even when things are rocky was a sign of character and traditional values.
Posted by: John | May 19, 2008, 8:47 pm 8:47 pm
Talk about pathetic. No matter how much you people bicker and hate any candidate, your opinions will not change the results of this election. Why be so passionately argumentative?
Posted by: Ashley | May 19, 2008, 10:29 pm 10:29 pm
Who is the winner in all of this? Bill Clinton.
Posted by: cashpiles | May 19, 2008, 11:02 pm 11:02 pm
Adultery is not a sin in the USA where Gay and Lesbians marry so leave courageous Hillary alone!
Upthread someone says it was pretty tacky of the preacher. A preacher who happens to be an acquaintance. Sorry, but the sermon was planned and the bulletins printed before the church was ever made aware Hillary would be attending. The Clinton campaign WAS INFORMED of the sermon subject matter and still chose to come. And Eloise needs a new watch. The entire service lasted an hour. The sermon was 12 minutes. And, for crying out loud, why shouldn’t Hillary hear the gospel when she goes to church?
Posted by: Mike | May 22, 2008, 12:34 am 12:34 am
Many of you commented how brave Ms Hillery is in going to face the sermon. Going and facing is a bit difficult but not so much a living it. I wonder if she knew what the message was about if she would have showed up. I would rather be a hipocrit and go then to not go at all. The churches are for the sick in heart not for those who are well.None of us will really know if ms C really has forgiven Willie of not. However there will be a time when we all will stand naked before Creator God. The books will be opened and the truth will come out. I have forgiven folks because i am commanded to by the Savior. But i still remember. Tear down the walls in your own life before you peek over into hers or any bodys.
Thank you Looking Higher and James. This is true. We will all one day have to stand before God and He will say “I was there, where were you…” We try to run our country…but if we don’t look to God and make sure we’re in His Will things won’t go right….just look at where we are now.God is God and we are not and he has all things in His control even when we don’t understand.
