Got a POTUS Full of Kryptonite

The Republican Party has been doing everything it can to lash Democratic congressional candidates to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

To little avail, it should be noted.

Which makes tomorrow’s fundraiser in Phoenix all the more intriguing.

President Bush is flying into the home state of the presumptive GOP presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. Bush’s approval ratings are in Nixon territory. For a candidate like McCain who’s trying to affirm his own brand and distance himself from the national Republican Party in general and the unpopular president in particular, this creates an awkward dynamic. He can’t alienate the three out of 10 Americans who support the president, but he can’t catch Bushitis.

As of now the fundraiser is closed, and only one photo opportunity — at the airport — is planned. Look to see if any public displays of affection (PDAs) or respect (PDRs) show up in your newspaper or on the news. Won’t be many, I bet.

I like McCain, but won’t vote for him. I would vote for a statue of Stalin before I would continue 4 more years of Republican rules.

Mc Cain retire.,…..Take elite barbie doll with you

I assume those 3 out of 10 Republicans are exactly the group who are the biggest contributors. Hence, the closed fundraiser.
Caveat, I know nothing of the Republican dynamics, never been one.

Perhaps Obama should withdraw. He is out of touch with most of America (with the exception of the radical and elitist left). And wifie does not help either… it’s a good thing they put a muzzle on her since her last gaffe.

Is that 3 out of 10 that support bush or is it just 3 that still support him?

Posted by: The Unshrub | May 26, 2008, 6:00 pm 6:00 pm

The guy in Miss. US Reprensentative Childers had to disavow obama to win a couple of weeks ago.
So that is working for the republicans tying obama to all those people. the democrats are toast in November.

Problem with voting for Obama is you get four more yearsof Jimmy Carter. For those of you to young to remember, “You could look it up.”

Why is it that Republicans don’t want to contribute to McCain’s campaign? Even his own wife does not trust him with her money. Maybe he should first get the wife to annul the prenup and show some good faith…as we all know, Charity begins at home.

I was a Republican for about 6 months. I am so ashamed, but I was just a kid rebelling against my Democratic Union Dad. Never again! Talk about bible thumping and racist!

I cannot bring myself to vote for Obama.
the man is not to be trusted. he will say anything to get elected and changes his policy to fit the situation.

I am neither liberal nor leftist nor elite and I am supporting Obama, as many thinking people are.
Vote with your brain for a change.
If you liked the last 8 years, then vote McCain, otherwise make another choice.

HELLO>>>>>
THERE IS ANOTHER CANDIDATE YOU SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT!
Her name is Hillary Clinton…. and she is by far the best of the candidates we’ve got.
She strong, brilliant, sharp and knowledgeable….. and I’m going to vote for HER!
GIVE ‘EM HELL, HILLARY!!!

Questioner,
Yout are spot on! The media is a powerful force and the concept of a woman running for the highest office in the land seems to be anathema to them. They were looking for her to fail every other moment, and when she has continued to stand no matter the forces they have gone to great length to put her down and to marginilize her. She is without a doubt the most potent candidate in the history of running for the office and more people in all of history have pulled the lever in favor of her. It just shows that the game is rigged and we’re more than likely going to elect the 44th man in a row for this office, hey, but we’re going to fake ourselves out and say that it represents real change, even though if you look at Obama and the people around him — Kerry, Kennedy, Edwards, Harkin, Dodd — it sure looks like a lot of politics as usual to me. Obama is a bald-faced distortionist. Hillary is a better choice and wins the electoral map while Obama loses. BZeats all I’ve ever seen.

Hillary in ’08 or Hillary in ’12

I will vote for McCain–he is a true patriot and I like his ethics as well as Bush. I think a lot of Obamaites are contributing their hatred on anything that spells good and should be ignored. I hope the American people will wake up before we get someone like BO in power.

i am a life long dem. and if sen. clinton is not on the ballot i will vote for mccain.
i could no more vote for obama, knowing the way he got to be the dem. nominee.
anymore that i would have voted for nixon.
i did hear an obama surrogate talking about sen. clinton campaigning for them
I for the life of me do not understand why obama would want the clintons campaigning for them.

Posted by: worldcitizen | May 26, 2008, 8:32 pm 8:32 pm

Hillary is my candidate and if she dont make it I will vote for Mccain. I dont care what he is or who his wife is or anything else. Obama will never get my vote or any of the people I know.

If you vote for McCain essentially you are extending Bush’s term to 3. Think about what McCain will do That Bush will not do. Nothing. Bush will help him raise money and mcCain will simply live on as Bush’s protege. Support the Democratic candidate. We need the health care. It will help small businesses and American families.

I care for America therefore I will vote for McCain instead of obama who doesnt love the America.
I am a Hillary supporter after voting democrat for 30 years.
Anytime you sit in a church that preaches GD America you dont love America.

If No Hillary Then its McCain.
I am from NJ. All the Blue states have chosen Hillary as their candidate.
Why then Super Delegate take the Traditional, Loyal Democrate voters for Granted? I will not be allowed to be taken for granted. If SDs are not loyal to their Loyal Voters, then So be it…
McCain it is. And Sorry, McCain is Way different then Bush. Bush is Unique – idiot and non patriotic, can’t say the same for McCain, can you Al?

Posted by: NoHillaryItsMcCain.. | May 26, 2008, 9:29 pm 9:29 pm

I’m glad people are showing their true colors. People who are bitter that Hillary was outclassed and out-smarted cant take resposiblity and choose instead to make weak arguments against Obama.
Voting for someone you do not agree with politically is not only foolish but destructive.
Dont make patriotic Americans and military personel suffer because of your stupidity and inability to get over the fact that Hillary was caught in many a lie and many a contridiction and that’s why she is in the position she is in now.
Traditional democrats voting for McCain this time around? GEE, wonder what the REAL reason is.

No matter how much you try John Mccain is not Bush 3. That is why he will win in Nov.

Posted by: tww | May 26, 2008, 10:01 pm 10:01 pm

NoHillaryItsMccain: You really need a reality check…..she won less than half of the blue states……there are more blue states than CA, NY, and NJ….get a life.

It would be unfair to deny Obama the ticket for democratic nomination. All other criteria like electibility, big state win etc are subjective. The real race was about pledged delegates and Obama won that race. You might say something about MI and FL. But both Clinton and Obama supported the measure. And now it’s not fair to change the rule. I might agree with you that Clinton has a better chance to win in General Election than Obama. But We cannot throw Obama for the sake of fairness. We got to play by the rule even if it means losing the General Election. Nancy Palosi was right when she commented something along this line.
God bless Hillary, God bless Obama, God bless America.

Reading the comments, I have to assume that the Hillary and McCain voters are no brighter then the Shrub and McCain himself. Two men who graduated at the bottom of their class.
Just having a Pres bright enough to poor p**s out of a boot would be nice for a change.
Oh, I forgot, the bright guy just happens to be Black. Would that perhaps be influencing some of the Hillary/McCain supporters?
Nah, this is the US, we don’t torture, and we don’t have any racists.
I guess it really is just an astounding number of dummies!

Tony Rezko, chief fundraiser, contributor and friend of Senator Obama, trial is almost over. He may be singing Obama name again and again to get a lighter sentence. After all, it was Obama who made it possible for some of the fraud to take place by planned legislation. There is an interesting, very long and detailed article on the net titled ‘Curtain Time for Obama’ written during the last two weeks. It goes into detail about all the criminals who contributed to his campaign after the conspiracy unfolded. Looks to me like Obama and Rezko need cells side by side. Interesting.

There are a lot of Republicans bloggers on this page trying to stir up divisions among democrats, “Operation CHAOS”. It is really a shame that the GOP cannot win on the issues and the have to sink so low as to impersonate Democrats. So fellow dems when you read idiotic or obscene post against the dems candidates you can be certain it’s probably from a Repugnant.

Martin- Your reference to the “Curtain Time for Obama” article just wasted 45 minutes of my time because I read all of it, and non of it led me to see how you determine negative judgement against Senator Obama. It was an interesting read, and very thorough, and detailed, but in no factual way even hints at any wrongdoing on the Senator’s part. Don’t get caught up in the hype, if hype is what’s got your your attention. Or, simpler, start thinking for yourself and consider the facts not the insinuations.

To Justice Era—Did yoy read all 6 chapters which consists of 60 to 70 pages or did you just read the first chapter . I have read them all three times and I still say Obama was involved with Rezko’s fraud.

Josh N:
“Voting for someone you do not agree with politically is not only foolish but destructive.”
EXACTLY!!!!
To my knowledged, the race is still on and Hillary is still running.
My allegiance is to her.
Should she NOT win,
I will turn tail on the DNC and never look back.
Do NOT suggest I am not /have not been a relatively long-term Democrat.
But I could never vote for B O;
he is not only a flawed candidate,
he is a flawed patriot.

My choice definitely would be Hillary,
