Hillary Clinton’s To-Do List

1. Win in West Virginia next week — dispatch Bill asap

2. Go on to win in Puerto Rico and Kentucky, racking up popular votes as much as humanly possible (need to have popular vote argument to make to Super-Ds)

3. Try to pick off one of the three remaining “Obama” primaries — Oregon, Montana or South Dakota

4. Argue that Obama should have won Indiana; a post-game recalibration of expectations

5. Point to ugly exit poll data from Indiana showing 50% of Clinton supporters say they will not vote for Obama in the Fall

6. Push back on Obama “achievement” in Indiana that he lost white women by only 61%-39% — as opposed to larger losses in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Argue: What kind of crazy worldview is this?

7. Look for more oppo. Another minister? Ayers? When does Rev. Wright’s book come out?

8. MICHIGAN and FLORIDA …The number 2,025 no longer exists. 2,209…2,209…2,209… Make it a civil rights issue

9. Push the money thing – Obama outspent us significantly, and yet he cannot put us away

10. Hard sell to superdelegates. This is going to happen and we have long memories. Stay on the fence.

11. Pray.

Of course Obama should have won Indiana. It’s his neighboring state and he outspent her what 3:1.
His loss there is huge the last industrial statehe could have won and he’s won none other than his own.
He was also ahead by 23% in NC and outspent her again at least 2:1 to lose 9 points.
Do democrats have 400 million to fight the general election and will that even win him Industrail white working class votes he needs to win? Probably not.
Hillary won last night and he didn’t. he held on.

By the way the NAACP has already made MI and FL a civil rights issue and called onthose votes to be coutned.
That was months ago but the press didn’t really seem to care.
Of course counting votes is a civil rights issue!

s.b.:
You are to be commended for keeping a stiff lower lip.
However, Michigan will never (as in never, ever) be counted as voted in January. See, the state Supreme Court there ruled the January primary unconstitutional (i.e., ILLEGAL).
We don’t count illegal elections in these here parts, pilgrim.
Florida is a different issue. I suspect some compromise will be reached – probably involving reducing their delegates by 50%.
The fat lady is just off stage left, and preparing her aria for HRC.

ROGER,
HOW MANY STATES HAS OBAMA WON? HOW MANY HAS CLINTON WON? SHOULD ANSWER YOUR QUESTION AT THIS POINT, REGARDLESS OF YOUR THEORY.

Posted by: haha | May 7, 2008, 8:07 am 8:07 am

Roger Miller:
Doesn’t matter. The primary is not about winning states, votes or electoral votes. It’s about winning DELEGATES. Period.
The Clinton campaign has no excuse. It includes most of the ’92 War Room, Bill Clinton himself, and over 200 DNC endorsements. They started with every conceivable advantage – and are now almost irretrievably lost. Looking for fault to find? Give HRC a call.

1. Clinton outspent Obama in NC and still couldn’t win.
2. Obama made inroads in the white demographic last night gaining 7% over his past performance in PA.
3. Obama supporters are even more likely than Clinton supporters to stay at home in November if she somehow gets the nomination.
4. Clinton is BROKE. She’s got millions of dollars in campaign debt and it looks like she may have given herself another loan to try to hang on.

Posted by: DJShay | May 7, 2008, 8:08 am 8:08 am

If someone needs more oppo, how about the fact that Bill Ayers and Obama have another widely unreported board connection – in 1995 Bill Ayers was instrumental in writing the grant request that led to an award of $49.2 million and the creation of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, intended to reform public schools. Barack Obama was the first chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.
Out sleuths in the media haven’t found that one yet.

The standards that are used to determine this election have not changed.
The fine print never included:
They must spend the same amount of money.
They must not like their pastors.
They must appeal to all cross sections of voters.
They must withstand all attacks from rumor-mongers.
If the fine print did include all of these “finer” points, then we’d never get to go out for recess!
Now can we all kindly move on?

Posted by: DAVID NH | May 7, 2008, 8:15 am 8:15 am

Peopel say he outspent her as if it is a bad thing. The mere fact that he has raised this much money and Hillary has NOT shows that he is a better candidate.

I find it lame that the news media is stating Hillary squeaked out a win in Indiana. ANY win in Indiana for her is huge, considering it is Obama’s backyard and full of his cronies. There is already talk on the internet that some of the Indiana vote was cooked up in favor of Obama.

Posted by: Beat in his own Backyard | May 7, 2008, 8:20 am 8:20 am

I think it’s worth noting she outspent him on air time in NC. Look what happened there. She also spent more time campaigning there as did Bill and Chelsea. Here come’s the spin.

Posted by: Tiffany | May 7, 2008, 8:26 am 8:26 am

When 70% of the democrats in NC share the values of Obama, it is time for me to either move or vote for MCain.
So I’ll be voting for McCain IF Obama wins the nomination.

Posted by: cindy in nc | May 7, 2008, 8:26 am 8:26 am

Everytime there is an important race in a state with a significant Black electorate, the Obama camp and their associates play up the race card – remember Clyburn’s tirade a week ago? It is so predictable and so pathetic. More than anyone else, Obama’s run for the nomination has opened up wounds that will take decades to heal. Now I just can’t believe that 93% of the Blacks in North Carolina are voting for Obama on policy issues. Then he trucks young, inexperienced, impressionable voters to the voting booth to inflate his support – it’s contrived, it does not reflect the mood of the country. After what I have seen Obama’s campaign had done during the last few months, I will never vote for him. It’s just too bad – Obama may win the race but will lose the election.

Posted by: alee25 | May 7, 2008, 8:28 am 8:28 am

After Donna Brazile’s comments on CNN last night, she should resign her post on the DNC. Apparently, the democratic party no longer needs white working class voters or women to shape the country in a new direction. Go left ahead! I will be switching to independent or republican if the DNC wants Obama to “win” with 48 states and questionable caucus results.

Posted by: calli | May 7, 2008, 8:30 am 8:30 am

The results show a disaster for the Democrats if Obama is nominated.
IN and NC vote GOP in November.
Clinton wins 60% of the non-black vote.
Wright is an issue with voters.
Voters supported the gas tax holiday.
strip away the black and college town vote (which Obama had the rules changed so they could vote on campus)-what do you have? McGovern, Dukakis -DEFEAT.
Now what would obamabots do without Clinton to bash? The 527′s are going to have a field day.
and there IS another pastor problem for Obama -Meeks, Doesn’t Jake know this?

I’m concerned that some Democrats have no trouble understanding how Obama’s appeal to emotion can win support with young voters and yet fail to understand how Obama’s campaign’s & DNC pooh-bah’s taking advantage of the MSM’s blatant gender discrimination against Clinton can result in women emotionally withdrawing their allegience to the Democratic party. This is the “Operation Chaos” that I see. When the CNBC store in a Washington DC airport sells a Hillary Clinton “nutcracker”, makes repeate, grossly sexist comments about Clinton (see Mediamatters.com for details) and then dominates the reporting on candidates to American, why should NOT a large number of Clinton supporters refuse to reward that behavior? A vote for Obama in Nov. would be shooting ourselves in the foot in one way (telling the supposedly “progressive” DNC that sexism is okay so keep it up.) A vote for McCain would be shooting ourselves in the foot in a different way. Obama had better reassess whether he doesn’t believe the polls that show Clinton supporters will not vote for him in the GE, as he said in his speech last night.

It’s funny how the media is trying to knock Hillary’s win in Indiana – the so-called “tiebreaker” primary. Now, even though she won Indiana, which happened to be a win in a state bordering Obama’s home state, somehow yet it is a loss according to the media. This is the first state neighboring Illinois that Obama has lost.
And look at a county breakdown of Illinois and Indiana. Obama lost ALL the bordering Indiana counties except one. Yet it’s still bad news for Hillary. Got to love our media.

or we could talk about paul v. clinton

Posted by: Margaret | May 7, 2008, 8:41 am 8:41 am

I’m not sure what election results some of the Clinton supporters were watching, but I saw a different result last night.
What I saw was Sen. Obama narrow an expected large win to just a squeaker loss in IND. and I saw him win NC by double digits. Personally, I don’t care if the vote was black, white, or indifferent – he won NC. He narrowed her lead in IND.
Sen. Obama IS NOT the reason MI and FL votes are in question. The DNC rules were violated and the DNC has nullified those primaries. STOP blaming the opponent for everything that goes wrong with Sen. Clinton’s campaign.
I noticed in Sen. Obama’s speech last night that he admitted he may not always be a perfect messenger (i.e., Rev. Wright), however you will never hear such a humbling comment come out of Sen. Clinton’s mouth. She is just NOT capable of such humility.
I find it interesting that over 50% of Obama supporters would vote for Hillary if she were the nominee and less than 40% of Hillary supporters would vote for Obama in the GE.
Point by point by point, it’s clear that the Clinton campaign IS FLAWED and her supporters are the ones who are divisive!
I would certainly hope that today the Superdelegates strongly encourage Sen. Clinton to throw in the towel. Her continued efforts make her look pitiful and only damage the entire Democratic party further.
With all due respect, she has fought a good fight, but it’s time to concede.

12. Start Negotiating her exit: VP, Senate Majority Leader, Gov. NY? She’s got herself, Bill, and the scads of women inspired by her as calling cards. I think the best bet is to work the superdelegates to work Obama to put her on the ticket gracefully.

Isn’t it ironic how the Democratic party ranted and raved and threw a hissyfit in 2000 claiming some Florida voters were “disenfranchised”, yet now in 2008 the party is willing to disenfranchise the ENTIRE state of Florida when it politically suits their annointed candidate?
Just shows that the Democratic Party doesn’t care what the Democratic voters want. Rather, let Pelosi and Donna Brazile pick your candidate. Seems fair right?

I’ve long wondered at the stupidity which allowed George W. Bush to be elected. It has kept me from being optimistic that this time America would get it right.
That said I believe this nomination has
1. exposed the deep bias which women face
2. shown how deeply biased and flawed the media is with their spin machine
3. shown have virulent and disgusting some bloggers really are with the nasty things they say
4. shown how racist black people are
5. exposed how messed up the democratic nomination is
6. shown the weakness within the DNC

Hillary supporters seem “bitter”. Do the math, folks. She has no possibility of winning. It is over. Period. She can continue to live out the wishes of folks like Rush Limbaugh and continue to provide chaos in the Democratic party or she can step down and begin to unite and heal the party. Let’s see what she is made of. Is she a divider or a uniter?

11. Stage a military coup to take over White House.
OR- FIGURE IT OUT AND LEAVE!!!!!!!

Posted by: bskahn | May 7, 2008, 8:59 am 8:59 am

It’s all about the numbers.
After last nights blow-out, Obama has made it virtually impossible for Clinton to surpass him in the popular vote and delegate count. Not only did he remake the net-loss he received from PA, but also of Indiana.
Indiana, like OH and PA share similar demographics.
And for Clinton to have won by only 2 demonstrates she’s falling and falling quick.
53% of Republicans voted Hillary in Indiana. Rush Limbaugh’s plan worked.
I don’t think people give Obama much credit. Here is a man, who’s been on the scene or lime light for two-three years… then the Clintons, 20 years.
Hillary should have had the nomination is the bad by Super Tuesday, and I believe she thought the same.
Obama winning the nomination should be called for what it is… a movement. Something far more bigger then Clinton, McCain and Obama himself.

Message for Hillary Clinton.
Please, for the sake of the Democratic party, it is time to drop out of the race. You have fought a gallant fight, but the people have spoken and you have lost. My sympathy goes out to all the Hillary supporters, but maybe Obama will put her on the ticket just to heal the wounds. But it is time to come together and end this madness. Democratic leaders, please show leadership this weeka nd bring this thing to an end.

The media has done nothing except bash Hillary from her hair down to her shoes. This just completes my reasoning that America still views women as 2nd class citizens. It’s appalling. The DNC could have had 16 years of ruling by running Hillary first (because of age) and Obama (because of age) eight years later. Instead they pick two minorities to divide the party. Once this is over, I will file independent and will NEVER go back to a Democratic ticket. Thanks DNC, you’ve done a terrific job. (yeah, right)

Posted by: tyra | May 7, 2008, 9:02 am 9:02 am

To Andre: Here is how the Obama rules work: when Obama loses, he wins. when Obama wins, he wins big and Hillary should quit the race. Maybe those 400,000 absentee ballots cast in NC should be checked to see if dead people are voting.

Posted by: calli | May 7, 2008, 9:09 am 9:09 am

Have you heard the steady drumbeat —Obama, Obama, Obama? Last night, I was asked why the networks haven’t announced Hillary the winner in Indiana because they announced Obama the winner 1 minute after the polls closed in NC without even counting one vote! The reason I told my friend is simple this is a tribal black vote. In Indiana they were waiting for areas to report that are high black density and they knew that the votes would be for Obama. In NC the ratio of registered black voters is super high, so they knew in advance of Election Day that Obama would win. The blacks are unified and the rest of the country is not. Rev. Wright said clearly and truthfully that “change” is coming and many black pastors announced across the US in several newspapers before this election to “keep an eye on the prize”. Mr. Obama had to denounce his religious pastor but notice he did not denounce the philosophy of his church. Obama has and still does believe in “black supremacy”. If you listen you can hear the steady drumbeats.

I hope Clinton will run as an independent in the general election. She would for sure win.

Posted by: Josh | May 7, 2008, 9:18 am 9:18 am

Everything happens with a reason. With the low moments Obama had the past few weeks, I believe he has acquired experience to survive them between now and November incase they occur!

Posted by: Peace | May 7, 2008, 9:19 am 9:19 am

WOW, the spin from all the Clintonites is making me dizzy!! But, seriously, Clinton ran a very good campaign. Her only mistake was underestimating Obama early on. She should have crushed him when he was weak back in december. Now, he has amassed so much, that he is going to be unstoppable.
The fact was Clinto was “expected” to Win Indiana and make it close in N.C. most polls had Obama leading by single digits in N.C. and Clinton leading by 5 to 10 in Indiana. The surprising result was the closeness of the Indiana primary. It had nothing to do with Obama’s back yard. HE won Iowa, Missori and Wisconsin. It was the demographics of the state that favored Clinton.
One other thing: Just because a huge majority of blacks voted for Obama, that doesn’t make them racist. If it does make them racist, I could say that White Working Class voters are racist for their lopsided support of Clinton, and so are latino’s. Don’t open that can of worms if you aren’t ready to eat them too.

ll ..just so you guys know, i am an edward supporter but all i want is for a democrat to win the white house..
HILLARY SUPPORTERS : Jeez, i liked bill and even though he did shenanigans back then, i still supported him ,however the wife is a different case..you just ask urself how many times has she changed positions in this primary season?she is for sumthing and then she is against it, she says dont do hypotheticals with iran n scolds others and later she says she will obliterate them..then her aides says we know gas holidays ont work but it polls well.then she claims all the good thing her husband had done in the 90s and when others try and stick her with the bad ones, she says she was against it …i really have lost count with her.if i were her, ill run with both the negatives n the positives of her husband’s terms..you cant cherry pick.i read so many idiots here saying well obama cant win with the only the black vote..well hillary cant win with just the white vote either and dont add women cos blacks do have women too:) n independents n moderate republicans wont vote for her either..so she loses either way as well.and ppl on here say black vote obama cos he is black…cough cough guys…i have seen the great wall of china, i have travel in a hot air ballon and i have even seen a man satisfy a camel but jeeez cut me some slack here.
first obama was not black enuf, then he was too black, then he was a light shade …hilary was getting 45% of the black vote back in november last year until her husband lost the plot.
OBAMA SUPPORTERS: To be honest, i really didnt like the guy at all….but my god i have to give credit where it is due, i thought he was goona fall away when the intensity of the attacks were ramped up but inside the pressure cooker , the guy was cool as ice..he is calm pesonified but also he is no saint ..all politicans are corrupt but its important we chose the least of the corrupt one cos they all have baggages.the rev wright stuff doesnt realy bug me cos i dont think he speaks for obama, neither do i think pastor hagee n the right lunatic fringe speak for mccain n i dont know what religion hillary is but in indiana, she was medothist, in pennslyvania, she was a catholic, in south carolina, she fancied herself as a baptist…
FINAL POINT: EVEN THOUGH I WANTED MY CANDIDATE TO WIN, HE DROPPED OUT SO ILL BE VOTING A DEMOCRAT IN THE FALL NO MATTER WHAT..obama n hillary supporters calm down n stop throwing mud at each other…i have got some nasty mails from obama people about hilary in respect to policys n nafta but i have gone to 3 of hilarys event and when u ae getting in by the door, they give u fliers bout him been a muslim, his rev wright, louis farakann, really vicious stuff ..pls stop that..obama attacks policy but hillarys is smear…not once did obama bring up clintons scandal in the past n even more that is going on that he cld have mentioned..so lets give him credit…he ran a great campign and against one of the best democratic machine and he out witted them …hillary can blame no one but her advisers and to a certain extent bill..if he had kept his mouth shut, hillary will still be getting atleast 45%of the black vote…
VOTE DEMOCRATS IN NOVEMBER
as for john mccain the serial flip flooper. he will be worse than bush.hillary people say they will vote mccain and the next 4years she will run..well lets put it the way, she will defintely loose if peolpe think thats what happened…cos if she helps obama and he serves 2terms n the democrats bring all the promises they have said..she can run then and with a popular out going prsident, she can win…but if she does this charade about supporting obama n doesnt n he loses ..most party people will blame her attacks n she wont get anywhere near the nomination cos independents, republicans n AA will not vote her next time….
so it is in her best interest to support n in my best interest to as a democrat to support who the nominee is ..even though edwrads is no longer there..if clintons was the nominee, n edwrads had lost to her, ill still support her…all this i wont vote or he is a muslim but has a christain pastor..how daft is that?or she is with so much baggage or she is a dynasty ..if she was the nominee, il vote for her no qualms but i dont think she can be..it has to be fair ..n there is no fair way she can win this…all this talk about letting peoples vote count is the biggest fairy tale i have ever seen..thats why i dont like the clintons in a way, she said n i quote” its cler the elections they are having in michigan and florida wont count” now she is losing n they should count cos she say so? now i know we are supposed to be dumb but i am not that daft..i might be a little but not as daft as a bloody mule:)))

OK for those who keep bringing up Michigan and Florida. They will be counted, OK? Even if you count them, Hillary still cannot surpass Obama. Does that help you to understand that this thing is all but over?

Posted by: Progressive Democrat | May 7, 2008, 9:23 am 9:23 am

As a 42 yo white woman from Michigan. I am independent. I support Obama. The Democratic party has not given me a nominee in years that I could support. I voted for Clinton the first time, but he tarnished the Presidency in was that boggled my mind and disgusted me. The Starr report was on CNN 24-7 and I had to explain to my school aged children why the President of the United States acted in such a horrible manner. I lost all respect for him. I don’t want him anywhere near MY White House. He lived there once, that was enough for me.
As for the primary in Michigan, it was a JOKE. Everyone here KNOWS what was up there. Our Governor Jennifer Granholm is Clinton’s campaign Chairwoman for the state. She decided, with other Clinton supporters, to move up the Primary, knowing full well the DNC already said if they did the delegates would not be seated. Clinton then decides, after vowing to remove her name from the ballot, like most of the candidates in an agreement with the DNC sanctions, she kept her name on. Everyone stayed home that day. It was a cold, horrible day here and since it didn’t count, people didn’t bother. NOW they want to count it as voted??? Shameful!!

MSNBC reporting that Hillary loaned her campaign another $6.4 million over the past month. That makes almost 12 million of her and Bill’s money she has contributed. Now I know why she is still in the race. She is going to “negotiate” with Obama to have her campaign debt paid so she will not be out the $12 million.

A couple of weeks ago, Obama was up 25 points in NC and 5-10 in Indiana, so Hillary did very well in taking Indiana and closing it to 14 in NC (with its overwhelming African American vote). Btw, it’s clear that the Mayor of Gary, Indiana held the vote up until after
1 a.m. as a strategic ploy to help Obama. But,let’s be honest, she didn’t get the gamechanger she was looking for. She had a great 2 weeks and Obama had a lousy 2 weeks — she was in position to shock him. Now it’s very very hard. And the party leadership seems strongly disposed to structure it in a way favorable to Obama. They seem determined not to let Florida and Michigan into the process until it’s over. It’s looking more and more like this is Obama’s nomination.

Ms. Clinton and her gang of theives, cut and slash tactics and “puppy in the rear window” head bobbing senerio should have dropped out of the running long ago. Aside of being extremley decisive, what has she accomplished? Did she bring the party together? Did her actions contribute to the winning of the Nov. election? And above all, do we need Bill Clinton back in office?
Be thankful she’s history

A couple of points on race:
Blacks are voting lopsidedly for Obama.
Latinos and white working class voters are voting lopsidely for Clinton.
Does that make any of these groups racist? No. People vote for who they can better identify with in the Primaries. Now, its time to come together and focus on our core democratic beliefs and principles. As yourselvees why you became democrats. Obama is a democrat and has been all of his political career. He is out to better America, even for Clinton’s supporters. Did you hear his victory speech? He is reaching out to Hillary’s supporters.

If Obama gets this nomination, McCain will be the president. Hillary must start thinking about running as independent if she loves this country.

I still believe that she is the best candidate in the race and of the 3 will do the best job as president BY FAR. But after they decide on what to do with FL and MI on May 31, and then the last primaries end on June 3, I expect she will make a decision. If the political landscape doesn’t shift, I would imagine she would end her campaign by about June 10 or so. That’s my best guess for the office pool.

She need to step down, this is crazy, if this was Hillary in Obamas place they would stop this. Good God people her name is Clinton, get a back bone and stop the madness.
By the way, Hillary had to loan herself $6 million last month, what is wrong with the Hillary people, you vote for her but you won’t support her.

Just one more question
Why would Hillary & Bill spend millions and millions of their private dollars to win an elected post that pays a yearly salary in the range of $750,000?
That make no sense at all
They know something we don’t know?

“The more he supports traditional black issues like affirmative action, the more that will eat into his white base of support.” Obama has been careful when broaching this issue; in a 2007 ABC News interview he suggested that the affirmative action of the future should consider economic status more than race.
He is a Classic Politician. He will do or say anything to get elected.
He will sell out whites—blacks—anyone…. walking the tightrope. Vote Present. Can’t stay on any Issues….

This Fl and MI thing needs to be put to bed also,
Please his name was not even on a ballot in MI, they broke the rules, they knew they would not count.
You people who vote for Hillary on this one is just as crocked as she is, you will lie and cheat to get what you want, maybe this is why you like her so much, which makes me wonder how many honest people are out there.
Most people in FL stayed home because they knew there vote would not count.
Superdelegates stop the madness NOW please!!!

Lets sum this up.
Obama was an unknown, she had more name recognition than any democrat in the country, short of her husband.
He had no political favors to cash in, she and Bill had decades of backroom deals and bargains to cash in.
He had no national political machine, she had her husbands twice successful presidential machine.
She made more money last year than he’s made in his lifetime. She had all the fundraising contacts, he had squat.
He’s been under attack from the Republican Party, John McCain, and every Right-Wing nutball group out there, and they’ve all been utterly silent on her.
He’s been under unprecedented bad media attention for weeks, the lowest point in his career, she’s been getting praise and “she can still do it” covereage in the press.
In spite of ALL of this, he’s won time and time again. He’s leading her in delegates, votes, states won, caucuses won, primaries won, and he’s had delegates flock to him as opposed to her by 3 to 1 for the last few months.
Now he wins a state by 15%, and he nearly ties another. He’s expanded his lead on her, and she’s been forced to loan her campaign more money to stay ahead of her herculean debt.
What more do you need to see to realize this guy is not only a winner, but a more powerful candidate than Clinton and McCain combined?

Posted by: fontapa | May 7, 2008, 9:51 am 9:51 am

So Obama outspent her. She has been in the public light for decades. Everyone who votes knows her. Most of us never hear of Obama a year ago (16 months ago anyway). She had an advantage in name recognition and she has an advantage in her link to a popular president. She has only become an underdog because Obama out performed her. For him to come from nowhere and to be perceived as the leader is an amazing accomplishment.

Bill will up this lobbying fee to the columbia from $800k to $8 mil for his exceptional access the the president. The columbians will make some noise about how they are going to support labor to make it look good. Hillary will say she convinced the columbians to see the light and go forward with CAFTA. Everyone wins. Well . . . everyone Hillary values wins.

Conventional wisdom would tell you that Senator Barack Obama should be the Democratic Presidential Nominee as of now!
However, there is a reason that hundreds of ‘undeclared’ Suprdelegates haven’t pushed Senator Obama over the top already.
Many within the Democratic Party feel Hillary will be the Stronger candidate to face Senator McCain in the General Election. However, what hampers the SuperDelegates from going with her is that they’re bound by their own rules!
Proportionate delegates – from State Primaries And…Both Clinton and Obama camps agreeing in September 2007 to punish FL and MI for pushing up their Primary dates. So, Senator Clinton’s wish to include FL and MI are looked upon as ‘changing the goalpost’ tactic!
One dimension of the Democratic Party argues – Senator Obama abided by all the rules that both camps agreed on and has won more States, more Popular Votes and more Pledged delegates. This is transparently the stronger argument to make! Why make rules if you can’t abide by them?
Hence, now enter ‘dysfunction’ into this Race and it will look more like The Democratic Party. To Win the election: Dems need: White Blue Collar Voters in OH MI PA IN WV KY NH and Jewish Voters in FL and Hispanic Voters in NM…They feel Senator Clinton (At The Top of the ticket) has the best chance at Winning these States vs. McCain!
What the Media isn’t telling its viewers is that, they know this dilemma is facing the Superdels and they are leaning towards Senator Clinton – hence the BIG Obama slant to sway public opinion and pressure the Superdels to side with Senator Obama.
Its a delicate and torturing balancing act – But expect to see a Hillary/Obama ticket being brokered by the Number 1 SuperDelegate – Former Governor Mario Cuomo. Its strange, its unfathomable and its True!

I believe that Clinton will stop campaigning and cite money woes. To reply to a previous comment, just because Clinton loaned her campaign money, does not mean that she is financially irresponsible. To say so shows a lack of thought, especially when she paid back the previous loan. She will win more delegates than Obama in the upcoming states but that will not take her far. What Obama needs to do now is to not stall any measure to seat the delegates in Florida so that Clinton can bow out gracefully. He will do that if he is truly a uniter and wants to do what is good for the party. The only chance Obama has, is to have the Clintons full support and have them campaign for him or be part of the ticket. As for me, I do not believe that I can vote along party lines just for the sake of a party whose leaders allowed this mess in the first place. I am one of those that does not agree with the direction the party is moving, I am too much of a moderate to vote for Obama, but make no mistake, I will vote. It is too bad that so many moderate Dems feel as I do and have not been given a choice that we feel comfortable with due to a variety of reasons. Do remember, life-long Dems would not cross party lines nor not vote for the Dem nominee unless they have VALID reasons, though some will perpetuate the false notion that race is the reason. It is sad that some voters feel that those who do not support Obama do so because of the color of his skin. I mean come on, the Dem party is about equality and we would not be members if we did not believe in that mantra.

I would like to Barak Obama’s To-Do list for winning the large number of Clinton supporters who polls indicate are unwilling to vote for him in the general election. Rather than “hoping” that they will “change” their mind, perhaps an analysis of why he has alienated a large portion of likely Democratic voters is in order. I know that, for a good number of these individuals, is it not simply a matter of enthusiasm for Clinton but of disgust with a variety of ways in which this campaign has been run. Making the assumption that these people are too stupid to understand that McCain would benefit if they do not vote for Obama in the general would be an example of how this alienation has occurred. I, myself, am a college professor and a woman, who has little trouble seeing through the absurd claims of “race baiting” by the Clintons while ignoring the blatant gender discrimination in the media that has been a fundamental part of Obama’s campaign. This is hardly a “progressive” party. At least the Republicans are up-front about who they are rather than phonies who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.

Why is so much being made hyped by the press over BO’s NC victory. If you look at the exit polls, his victory was made possible because of enmasse voting of the African American block. In NC he got almost 375,000 more votes from the African American community which explains his big win. He lost handily in White Democrats, White indepenedents category. Similarly, he was able to come clsoe in Indiana because of the African American vote. He was again handily beaten in white vote. When it comes to fighting it against John Mccain, getting the white vote will be a big hurdle for BO.

Posted by: PS | May 7, 2008, 10:36 am 10:36 am

CK: What gender discrimination against Clinton? Can you please provide examples? I was originally for either Biden or Richardson and, even then, thought about how easy Clinton is getting it. She has and admits to decades worth of baggage and very little of it was brought up. She has a very high negative rating already and I could see it climbing even higher if the media would start rehashing her past dirt. Rev Wright was 42% of the political news coverage leading into these last primaries AND was claimed by 50% of respondents as an important factor. Additionally, Reizo (sp) coverage way outweighted coverage of Norman Hsu, Peter Paul, columbian connections, Kazakhstan connections, china connections all added together.

Posted by: X marks the spot | May 7, 2008, 10:39 am 10:39 am

PS -
So much is being made of NC because the net result of both states delegate-wise pushes Clinton back even further. What was near impossible mathematically is now simply an incredible fantasy.
She has to win like 70% of all voters for the rest of her campaign to win this thing, and that includes counting Michigan and Florida as is.
Think about it. Michigan + Florida plus 70% of all remaining voters, plus 70% of all remaining superdelegates.
It’s impossible, that’s why people are talking about NC as such a big deal. Straw, meet camels back.

It isn’t just the money that Obama has raised. He really hasn’t needed a campaign staff. Obama’s ability to to get this far in the race is largely attributable to the media. He has been protected, defended, glorified and hyped by the most inane collection of “news” media I’ve ever seen. Once the message became “I’m Barack Obama and young people love me”, every old politician and pompous reporter wanted to be hip. And now we, as democrats, are close to being saddled with a weak, inadequate candidate. Especially troubling is that Clinton has exactly what we need in a President today — intelligence, knowledge of the issues, international respect and strength.

Looks like the divisions I’ve been seeing on the blogs, in the voting and with my friends are pretty complete.
It’s time for Obama to make peace with Hillary. Despite his assumption that 1/2 of the Democratic Party will jump on his train…..and the pundits claim that it’s all about the loser working for the winner….I believe that Obama needs to start proving he is a “uniter”. He needs to show Hillary and her millions of supporters some respect. My belief is that the demographics are not in his favor now that people have learned more about Obama’s church and minister.
Obama’s only hope for victory in Nov is if Hillary is on his ticket…Obama has no record prior to this campaign of uniting anyone…he has no legislative accomplishments to speak of…He has thrown his grandma and Rev and Alice Palmer under the bus from the start of his career/He has only united 1/2 of the Democratic Party.
Now we find out if Obama can walk the talk he’s been talking!

The shameless and so far successful blocking of the revotes in FL and MI will not fly. On Larry King like in the DNC an Obama supporter shouted down the lady from FL. King did nothing to stop him.
It’s time for Obama to acknowledge the votes in FL. Obama cannot win if he starts the General Election with 2 states already in McCains win column. Mark my words FL and MI has already decided that the Democrats have no respect for them and Obama has already led the charge to disenfranchise them.

He believes that using other hard-working people money for your own personnal gain is the new American Dream. This country was founded on the concept of self responsibility and accountability, not using hand-outs. He is leading us down the path of socialism and Marxism. Please, please, voters wake up. He and Rev. Wright are of the same beliefs and it seems too many other people are too. That is why so many voted for color, not substance. We need a statesman, not a rock star in the White House.

Why is it the “starting behind” argument only matters when it’s your candidate that lost? Yeah, she started 23 points behind but guess what… it’s the FIRST contest she tried to win where she started from behind. Most other contests, she simply didn’t try and this contributed to Obama’s 12 win streak. Sure, Obama has more money, but he’s not LENDING it to himself like some WEAKER candidates.
Just admit it. HRC cried after she lost one primary (which won her some female sympathy votes in NH), lied her @$$ off about getting shot at (and then her husband lied some more to try to make it not seem like a lie), kneecapped the Democratic party by denigrating the frontrunners experience while complimenting McCain’s, and at one point, asked Obama to GIVE her the nomination and be his vice president.
But she’s the stronger leader. Gimme a break! I’m surprised she’s gotten as far as she has…

Everyone seems to be preaching experience, experience, experience… when in reality there is no such thing as an experienced President outside a former president who as already served a first term… and in this case none of the running candidates have ACTUAL hands on experience of being TITLED president. Yes, Mrs. Clinton was MARRIED to the president and was exposed to procedures and situations, but in reality she is still inexperienced like the rest. With that said, America needs to focus on integrity, capability, and intelligence instead of who is male/female or the color of ones skin as a deciding factor.

Timing is everything and it’s only a shame she was running against the first black man to run….hence his big win in NC huge black state. He WILL NOT have such luck in many states HE NEEDS to WIN the general. I can not tell you how many women (and some men here in L.A. even) who have said they can’t believe they are going to have to vote Republican next time. *The other minister could be Clinton’s own. First her own minister defends Wright. Then we have Hillary’s membership in The Fellowship, generally regarded as a borderline cult. Is she really going to go there?

The longer the Clinton’s make this an agonizing event, the more they make the electorate view the democratic electorial process look like the Washington DC daily process: spend a lot of money; whine a lot; point fingers in a circle; and get no where quick! The Clinton era is over. The sooner they get out — gracefully — the less damage they will do to the Clinton legacy (or what is left of it after South Carolina!)

If you trust her so much then go out and lend her more money to keep her campaign alive…..then see her run away after she recoups her $10 million. I bet you really think she cares for the working class?? Pat Buchanan said that last night on MSNBC “pretty soon we’ll see Bill Clinton broker a deal with Obama to get Hillary out of the race and part of that deal would be getting the millions of dollars back from Obama that Clinton’s have loaned to their campaign so far”. Well I hope they won’t charge any interest on top.

I am a definite Hillary supporter who thinks she is the only choice for President and will not support Obama in the general election. I will vote McCain. I still don’t believe the “I’m shocked” line when talking about Wright and never will. Obama is a total liar. His whole campaign was built on words matter, unity and judgement and he has received an F in all three catagories.

If the other shoe doesn’t drop on Obama’s campaign before June…it will before November. Hillary supporters, be patient…don’t think the far Right are ever going to let go of all Obama’s negative ideologies/associations…Wright, Rezko, Ayers, Achi, Hamas, Farrakhan…my lord, he’s a radical magnet…and don’t even compare Hagee’s endorsement to Wright’s friendship/mentorship.

hillary supporters you should be nice to Obama supporters especially since Hillary wants Obama to raise money to pay off her debts because it’s obvious that you her supporters aren’t finacially supporting her.
Hillary and it appears some supporters you are all poor losers. Obama and supporters can’t help that Hillary can’t or didn’t run a good campaign or that she can’t manage her money but you want her for president well not on my watch. Just because you all are to bitter to admit defeat, McCain will still not win

um…im a hillary supporter but also a realist. this thing is over. she’s going to fight on and continue to bruise him and leave him bloody to take on mccain. her goal, is to have obama lose to mccain so that she can run against a horrible president mccain when he’s 76. she will most likely win the nomination then and ultimately win the presidency.
im done.

I hope you Clinton die hards do stay home once Obama cinches it, then McCain will will in November and you can all say goodbye to your employer’s group healthcare when takes away the tax deduction and good bye to your rights when he packs the court with his right wing types. All you ‘working class’ clintonites will be the first to suffer. Good luck to you if you stay home in November.

I am a hard core republican and have always found the Clintons detestable. However, of late, I am finding myself respecting and actually liking Hillary for being the fighter that she is. I liked Obama in the beginning and have considered voting Democrat for the very first time. Ain’t gonna happen. Reverend Wright woke me out of my reverie. Obama is a the very definition of a pure socialist- America won’t be succesful if we chose the European path- even the Europeans themselves are finally waking up from their stupor. Talk about backwardism, not progressivenss if we decide to elect Obama. He’s another Carter in the making!

I am an independent, and I’m also now Obama Supporter. I will definitely vote for McCain in November if HRC is the Democratic candidate. The policies of Bill Clinton (moving to grant China Most-Favored Nation status during his presidency)are what put us in this ecconomic pickle.
HRC is also a habitual liar.
If anyone claims to prefer Mr. McCain to Obama “because Obama is a liar”, they should apply that standard to Mrs. Clinton…honestly.

HOW ON EARTH does someone with SOOOOO much experience, accomplishments and ready to “lead from day one” be SOOOOOO far ahead before voting even started, be so far in debt you have to “LOAN YOURSELF MONEY” three times in two months, be IN DEBT before you even reach office, now way behind and telling everybody you are the “underdog” and a “fighter”? If all that experience, and leadership leads to LOOSING to an UNKNOWN and so deep in debt you “Loan yourself” more money than the UNKNOWN ever made in his life, how can you call yourself a fighter for the middle class?

I find it interesting that Clinton supporters are quick to run towards the McCain campaign if she does not win the nomination. Is this even rational?
I have never been a proponent of staying within party lines, however, the platforms of Clinton and McCain are not even remotely within the same spectrum (albeit the gas tax holiday). Since we as Americans have unfettered access to all three campaigns, I urge you to research *THEIR* platforms on the relevant issues and not be brainwashed by the “spin” of the media whose job it is to sell headlines and make money by any means necessary (I could go into- how if you read 10 different political articles relating to the same subject, there will be 10 differeing views with altered facts, etc.-But I won’t).
It is quite clear the similarites and differences that Clinton, McCain and Obama may or may not share.
Thus, in reading some of these emotionally charged comments, there seems to be two *MAIN* reasons (in my mind) behind Clinton fans threatening to defect from the Democratic party and run into the arms of McCain:
1) Sore Loser Syndrome
2) Inability to “stomach” the
possibility of any African
American becoming president.
I suspect it’s a bit of both. Come on people, really soul-search and take a look in the mirror before placing our great nation at risk of developing an even weaker world image and becoming the next super power in history to see its rise and subsequent fall.. Can we really afford to allow the social constructs of race and prejudice cloud the sound judgments we all possess on a basic human level?
Clinton supporters- I urge you to put aside the bad taste in your mouth in the event she does not get the nomination and put on your thinking caps before making unplanned and uncalculated choices of defecting from the Democratic Party (and, yes, from Sen. Obama) to McCaine or EVEN WORSE, not voting at all..
May God Bless America and Your hearts to not let racism and bias cloud your intellect..

Come on now. It’s time to admit the fact that it’s over for Hillary.
I can understand the ranting and denial from her supporters. I truly can. But the media needs to give up on the “she still has a chance” narrative. There’s not a viable story here anymore. Move along…

Obama supporters:
You need to lead by example of what Obama claims he is “a unifider”. Stop critizing Hillary supporters because it could possibly cost your candidate the election. Hillary supporters do congratulate Obama for his win in NC. Hillary will continue the race as she has said from the beginning. Don’t assume that the longer she stays in the race, it will continue to hurt the Dem. Party. What’s already done is done & pretty much everyone knows who they will vote for in the upcoming states. The reason why she is financially hurting is because of those that don’t make much can’t afford to donate any more. She is considered a fighter & thumbs up for two historical candidates that continue the fight. If we all need to be mad is at the DNC for continuing to make stupid rules that has caused this whole mess.

Posted by: Mary | May 7, 2008, 4:14 pm 4:14 pm

Adrienne:
Reason why Hillary supporters say they will vote for McCain is because of the tone that you all have taken with them. It’s obvious that the media was in fact in the tank for Obama for 4 months. People are now knowing who Obama really is. There is nothing wrong with that. I also say, what not let the other states that want to participate in there primary vote. We are one month away to see where this all stands (couple of weeks away). Hillary has made it clear that she will campaign for Obama. She is a fighter and continues to fight for what she believes in. Look back at Huckabee staying in until the race & the Rep. Party didn’t call for him to quit nor was there an outcry. They respected Huckabee’s decision to fight til the end.

Posted by: Mary | May 7, 2008, 4:24 pm 4:24 pm

Im afraid the democratic party is going to implode this November.
I will never be for Obama, I cannot find myself voting for him. Race is not the issue, for if he was running another time, I would join his team pronto.
Sore loser? I’m partly guilty, I feel Hillary should have been our 1st woman president. She certainly deserves it. I don’t feel that way about him.
I like his wife even less! She seems so mad at the world, bitter, not a happy person.
I hope my attitude changes, but I doubt it.

I would hope that those of you who are willing to accept an immoral war, a tax plan the benefits the wealthy and more right wingers in the supreme court will rethink your choices. It is one thing to be unhappy that your candidate has lost a well fought race and it is another thing to be willing to destroy the country because of it. Take some time off and consider your priorities.

Posted by: Jim B | May 7, 2008, 4:30 pm 4:30 pm

To all the democrats who say they’ll stay home or vote McCain, I’m surprised you’d rather have McCain win when: (1) he wants to appoint more Supreme Court justices like Scalia and Alito, (2) opposes equal pay for equal work, (3) supports the continuing war in Iraq, and (4) went along with Bush on his veto of the anti-torture legislation to name but a few.
I think 8 years of continuous republican leadership is all this nation can take.
Finally, to those Hillary supporters that keep asking why Obama can’t put her away, use the reverse logic and ask why she keeps coming up short (she won fewer delegates last night than he did so when is she going to “win”). Rightly or wrongly she blew it back on Super Tuesday and can’t win unless the rules are changed or she garners about 70% of the remaining super delegates which isn’t going to happen. It’s time to unite in order to take back this country.

Why are board comments so mean? I am a Democrat with a strong opinion. I however respect my fellow Americans who vote, who participate, who read, who debate and who love our country. In November I will vote the Democratic nominee. I hope you will too for the sake of Social Security, healthcare, schools, policing, ending the war, and appointing a couple of Supreme Court Justices who respect the Constitution over petty partisan politics.

Posted by: BBpd | May 7, 2008, 4:42 pm 4:42 pm

It’s not that it is the longer she stays in she will harm the democratic candidate (Barack Obama) in the General…Clinton states that she will continue… her supporters tell her to keep going… it is the point that she is being selfish now and not doing what is best for the party. Let’s include the results of Operation Chaos where Republicans have been making a FOOL out of her by voting for her to make it look like she has more support and votes than she actually does… Now, they have created CLINTON CHAOS… This is not a negative statement against Clinton – it is just the Truth. It is not Time for America to excel with Chaos. That is not in the best interest of the nation – the children – the young – the old- the black- the white- the yellow- the hispanics- the educated – the uneducated- the middle class or the poor- and, I could go on and on… Because her approach with CHAOS has caused NUMEROUS divisions…
Sometimes, it is not THAT you win, but HOW you win… and THE WAY that Clinton is trying to win is the true problem because it speaks volumes about her true character…
If there will be unity, and Clinton supporters truly care about her, then you need to TELL HER THE TRUTH … And if you want America back on the Great Path that it can be, then you need to choose Unity instead of Chaos
The best way to tell her is with your vote. Set it in your mind now that you will choose Unity and vote for Obama. Let’s come together. RIGHT NOW – ALL OVER AMERICA.
WHAT Does a man profit if he/she gains the WHOLE World but loses his/her soul?
HOW you win is just as important as it is to say that you are a winner.

C’mon folks. It’s been a long, hard and not very pretty fight. It is natural to feel emotionally let down when your candidate loses. But someone has to lose, and like it or not, HRC has. Are you really going to vote for McCain? GWB has been a catastrophe for this country. Vote for McCain and Roe v Wade will be an old memory. Swallow your disappointment and even your fury, and move forward.

Posted by: Chuck | May 7, 2008, 4:54 pm 4:54 pm

Dems cannot be happy today. Hillary shows that Obama is toast in another midwestern state, but she can’t overcome a 90% plus African-American vote for Obama in North Carolina, showing that the key portion of the Democratic base is not bailing on Obama.
But don’t look for Hillary to bail, at least not until the final primaries are held and the Tony Rezko trial verdict in. (Final arguments open Monday.) If Rezko walks, the chance of another devastating revelation about Obama goes down.
But if Rezko is convicted and is facing a long stretch in jail, won’t he have to think long and hard about naming names in order to limit his years in federal prison? Clearly Rezko and Obama are close. That’s a huge potential nightmare for the Dems, and Team Hillary won’t be shy about underscoring the dangers of an unfolding scandal consuming Chicago politics.
Then there’s the slowly spreading impact of Michelle Obama. The more voters hear her rhetoric, the less they are going to want her husband in the White House.

It may helpful to understand the context of the nomination of Barack Obama for President of the United States by the Democratic Party.
Historically and currently, blacks have generally (not always) elected incompetent people to public office. It should be clear that elected officials are the focus of this discussion, not non-elected very accomplished men and women such as George Washington Carver, Colin Powell, Rev Martin Luther King Jr, and Condoleezza Rice.
After the overthrow of white rule in Africa, black suffrage brought in a corrupt and inept leadership. The result was continent wide starvation, disease, and genocide. African leaders ordered that confiscated farms be taken over by persons with no farming experience. Would it not have been better for these leaders to gradually install black ownership under the temporary guidance of experienced overseers, such that food production would not have been interrupted? In 2001 Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe ordered funds collected through a special tax meant to help those with HIV/AIDs diverted to other projects like failed parastatals, the defense ministry and trips for international events that have nothing to do with health.
After the American Civil War, Republicans in the House and Senate were bent on punishing the Southern Aristocracy. With the election of 1866 Republicans obtained two-thirds majorities in both houses of Congress. They then enacted several punitive measures over the veto of President Johnson, including military occupation of the South, Negro suffrage (in spite of the fact that few of the Northern states had as yet granted the Negro the vote), and disenfranchisement of former white combatants. The result was that reconstruction governments were set up across the South lead by Negroes and enforced by the army. These “carpet-bag” governments were corrupt and inept. For a decade the South languished without improvement. After the Presidential election of 1876, 12 years after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox, the Republican President Rutherford B. Hayes recalled the Federal garrisons, the white vote was reinstated, Negro reconstruction politicians began to be displaced by competent whites, and the South began the road to recovery.
After hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin withheld the city school busses from rescue efforts. He was later reelected. Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson commandeered a Katrina rescue helicopter to rescue $90,000 in bribery cash from his home freezer. His constituency reelected him to office. The African American vote has not in every case been wrong. Cynthia McKinney was not returned to office after she wrongfully had a scuffle with a security officer.
Is the Obama case any different? Obama received 90 to 92 percent of the African American vote before and after it was revealed he stayed in Rev Wright’s church for 20 years and he had said his grandmother is a typical white person and that Americans are bitter and cling to religion and antipathy and take comfort preying on hate. After these revelations Obama’s support by whites has declined perhaps 15 points, and anywhere from 27 percent to 45 percent of Hillary supporters now tell pollsters they will vote for McCain rather than Obama.
The question I have is, what crime or evidence of unsuitability for office would it take for African Americans to turn down a black man for President?

Posted by: Rod | May 7, 2008, 5:02 pm 5:02 pm

People keep talking as if Hillary concedes the nomination it will unite the party. I’m a Democrat, but there is NO WAY I will be voting for Obama in the fall. I’ll vote McCain before I vote Obama. McCain is a realist on the war and he’s so moderate the far right hates him.

Obama Supporters – I want all of you to keep gloating to Hillary backers about the way this nomination is heading! Keep yucking it up and divide your Party even more!
Personally, I’m voting for McCain..But, I don’t remember McCain or McCain supporters ever ‘sticking’ it to Romney, Huckabee, Guiliani or Fred Thompson supporters after the nomination!
Whatever happens in November and if Obama is the nominee – if McCain Wins – you will see class and dignity reign – because we won’t rub it in – no matter how much you’re gloating over Hillary now.
Another thing – if Obama attracts the educated vote – why do so many of the Obama supporters lack class and refinement? Isn’t that an elitist trait?

Mary: I agree that Obama supporters should not be name calling. I have to say I’m seeing an equal amount of name calling from Hillary supporters. Despite their idiotic claims to exit pollsters that race wasn’t a consideration for them, blacks voted 92% for Obama. If you want to play the race card, as it seems you do, you need to look at your own coalition. White people are not going 92-8 for Clinton.

I am surprised that we would equate a possible Obama victory to the failure of African leaders…that is pertinently absurd. That said, I am surprised that a “distinguished” journalist would propose such illegal activities to the Clinto campaign and couch it in the terms of what Clinto should do. When you are provided with the capability to influence decision there must be standards by which you should never stoop to. To propose that Clinton should beging pushing the new number of 2209 is irresponsible and absurd.

Obama has won states which has historically voted for republican.Obama camp has played race card and blames Hilary Clinton. Obama camp does not want to defranchise Michgan and Florida. These are important swing states.Republicans will have enough stuff to circulate if Obama is nominated.

Posted by: american | May 7, 2008, 6:07 pm 6:07 pm

There is a simple measure of electability, it is called winning elections. We have now had quite a few of these election things. Barack Obama has won most of them.
The punchline is that during the worst weeks of Barack’s campaign, Hillary nearly pulled up to even with him.
Inevitability aside, it was never going to be Hillary. The only hope she ever had was for there to be no other viable option. With as many people as there were in this race, one of them was certainly going to become a viable alternative. Once this happened, and it happened in Iowa, Hillary was done.
One can thrive on millions of dollars and near 100 percent name recognition for a very long time, but this is different than winning. Hillary was always going to poll quite well and come in second place. Her negatives have always been to high for any other outcome.

I’m an educated young woman and I am NOT voting for Obama. I feel like this country has been brainwashed by the media and his grandiose speeches. The man is an elitist who lacks substance. Who goes into middle America and tries to garner support by complaining about the price of Arugula at Whole Foods? The man is SO far left it scares me. Obama’s plan for Change? Change what? Politics? Nope, he’s just as guilty of dirty dealings and underhanded politics as the rest of them. He claims he doesn’t take money from lobbyists, no just their wives and lawyers. Will he support the disenfranchisement of voters in Florida and Michigan? Sure, if it benefits him.
The Clintons may not have been saints but Bill Clinton was an excellent president. His policies may not have all been perfect in hindsight, but what president’s were? We enjoyed an unprecedented economic boom during the Clinton years and I’m tired of people trying to belittle his presidency. Hillary is a fighter and I’m proud of her for continuing her campaign. She’s had to deal with so much criticism for her marriage and her politics, which is patently unfair. Michelle Obama has said some awful things about this country but the media seems to just gloss over every Obama fault. They plug their ears and cover their eyes when it comes to him, as far as they’re concerned he’s the next messiah.
I’m very disappointed in my fellow Americans for not being able to think for themselves and see beyond the smoke and mirrors that is the Obama campaign. No wonder the Europeans hate us, we are sheep and MSNBC and other news outlets are our shepherds.

Obama is on his way to winning, fair and square, whether you like it or not.
Hillary supporters have a choice here: be angry and vote for McCain, stay home or support the Democratic nominee Obama.
But if McCain wins and you find that we’re in Iraq in 2012 with 8000 Americans dead, the economy has fallen into a depression, taxes have gone up, gas is at $10 a gallon, and you’re out of a job, you’ll have to ask yourself: Was it worth it? Was it worth taking it so personal that your candidate didn’t win to the point where you voted for McCain?
Whether you think Obama is the stronger or weaker candidate, he won by the rules that we created and we should respect that. We should respect the voters that voted for him (black, white, old, you, female, male) and if you truly support Democratic values then you’d vote for Obama. If you want to take revenge and vote McCain, be ready to accept the consequences for this very dire decision.

Posted by: PeterC | May 7, 2008, 6:34 pm 6:34 pm

it would be really nice if Hillary would just concede and realize despite the last couple election year’s love of nepotism and “keeping it in the family” types of election rules, this is a monumental year marked by an exhaustion of playing by the rules of a system that faultered several years ago. WE don’t need anymore heroes in office, no more tenacious persistent bulldog politics, no more energizer bunnies that can’t take a hint that maybe they aren’t really wanted here. No more persistent and stubborn candidates who won’t stop, despite their opponent’s popular vote, that they will force people into their vision. We need a leader with honest intentions, who has a lot of international diplomacy work to do just to get America’s global respect back. Obama is the candidate that has proven he is quite willing, and not hysterically afraid of, having a dare I say….conversation…with Iran. No more Republican talk of Obliteration and showing the world how globally oppressive America can be…. he is the one that has consistently followed a steady course with his message – one that isn’t filled with watery opinions of the day, but a steady committment to issues that make this country a wonderful place.
I started following this campaign last year and I can say, that what started out as a mutual respect for Hillary and Obama alike, with a disinterest in Edwards has turned into wishing Hillary would dissolve…so we can focus on getting this country where it needs to go. it’s a shame…because that is just what she has created in this campaign. I feel bad that she donated 6.4 million to her campaign today…I wouldn’t want to be around when she wakes up and realizes that she should graciously exit and should have stopped before she lost all her money doing so.

Ok, like George Bush was? Bill Clinton was not ready either, after all he only served as a state Governor. At least Obama is in the US Senate. I get sooo tired of these lame excuses, if John Edwards made it this far nobody would be making this argument about him…Why? Cause he’s white. Obama, is head over hills more qualified then Bush, more intelligent then McCain…That’s what we need in the whitehouse (oh, now I see, people are afraid they will no longer be able to call it the whitehouse…Get over it!)some intelligent decision making that don’t have a twenty dollar bill attached by some lobbyist.

Wow we have some really crazy comments here, from Obama so-called “connections to terrorists” to Rob’s quite insane and racist interpretation of both African Politics and American Reconstruction. For those of you who are interested in American Reconstruction you can find Rob’s interpretation in league with the Staple’s school, a racist school of historians who primarily stressed African-American’s “corruption” and “incompetence” in order to justify the segregationist status quo in the early 1900s.
As for the issues of the actually campaign, I think (like Obama) that Hillary has the right to continue her campaign. I mean campaigns have been taken to conventions with even a longer shot than hers. But, it seems pretty unlikely that she’ll get the nomination without splitting the party and creating a ruckus. It would be best for all sides if she bowed out now. By the way, if she is the nominee, I probably won’t be voting for her. I prefer not to vote for a President who thinks economists are just snooty academic elites who don’t know anything.

Posted by: Michael | May 7, 2008, 6:59 pm 6:59 pm

Just call me a “Clinton Republican” if she does not get the nomination.

Posted by: Decided | May 7, 2008, 7:02 pm 7:02 pm

We see, in many of the analyses of yesterday’s primary outcome, a base canard that the only thing justifying Clinton’s continued pursuit of the nomination is the latent racism of down-scale white voters. The implication is that anyone who does not embrace Obama is a racist. And many young and otherwise “enlightened” folks have enjoyed demonstrating their freedom from racism by supporting him. They deride and cannot fathom the reluctance of others to do so…seeing no possible explanation other than prejudice.
What they cannot understand is the common sense of the largely older and less sophisticated Democrats. That sense is that Obama and his core supporters are far outside the mainstream. Obama raises serious doubts as to his adherence to their traditional American values.
While there are apparently not enough centrists left in the Democratic Party to stop the nomination of an extreme left candidate, many will find themselves strongly attracted to a centrist and maverick Republican who came within a whisker of being too “liberal” to get his party’s nomination. It is this calculus that makes the Clintons unwilling to quit…their hope that the party will yet awaken from its stupor.
Too many folks are “bamboozled” by heady thoughts that they can win an election going counter to 200+ years of experience. That experience demonstrates that elections are won in the middle, where each vote switched counts for two. In a year where Democratic victory should have been a certainty, they will have succeeded in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. And the children following the modern day pied piper will still have no clue as to what really happened.

What would be really nice would be Obamamaniacs realizing that he cannot win against John McCain! If you all want to see what is best for the Democratic Party then do what you can to help Hillary become the nominee because she can beat him. If you don’t believe my humble opinion then look at all the national polls yourself. When it comes to the National Race Hillary leads McCain by a long shot! If Obama goes in as the nominee then you should just hang it up and call McCain President McCain and prepare for a depression. I am not sure when the DNC is going to wake up and put a nominee out there that can win. This year should be a no brainer win, but with Obama as the nominee we will have thrown our chances out the door AGAIN!

Rudy didn’t win his parties nomination due to one very large fact : his third wife was “the other woman”. I doubt his party wanted their first lady to be a whore. Well, I don’t like the fact that maybe the first lady may end up being a black woman with a deep seated grudge against America.
Republicans, take note, one key point you can run against Obama.
Also, The Obama supporters are worse than Bush supporters. They are just plain mean. This life long dem is voting for Mccain in the fall and I will not be the one and only. H’mmmm, maybe all we Hillary supporters should ban together and work for John the minute the dem’s convention ends. We could even start a yahoo group and plan future events. I for one I’m sick of the gloating Obama people. They suck!!!!

Sen. Clinton felt she had a personal mission and destiny to become America’s first woman president. That was a noble, worthy and historic goal, and she must feel deeply disappointed not to reach it.
Clinton must search her own inner self and find the courage to accept Obama’s near-certain nomination and work for the higher good of her party and the country.
Now is the time for all Obama supporters to embrace Clinton’s supporters, not gloat over his probable victory and not rub their noses into the dirt! Now is the time for Sen. Clinton to make peace with her self, stop the denial and new math, accept the primary results, and move on to support the party’s campaign against John McCain!

WOW! What spin! SHE won and HE held on? LOL Did you actually see the numbers? The ONLY reason she won Indiana was because of “Operation Chaos” by Rush-It gave her a 7 point bump and she only won IN by 2. Her OWN campaign said she shouldn’t lose N.C. by more than 4 or 5 points yesterday morn. and NOW the spin starts. If a 9 1/2 point win was a blowout for HRC in Penn. what do you call Obama’s 14 point win- a massacare:-)

Since when Americans cheer for people quiting a race, a match?
We have heard it so often from the OBAMA fanatics. They are a mixture of people like Joe Andrew.
The ultimate principle of democracy is to let people’s vote and let their votes count.
Amidst of two states which have been left without their delegates for so long. The party is only as democratic as communists.
The caucuses stink and do not represent the people because they are biased against the old, the poor, the handicapped…
Half of the voters think OBAMA’s connection with Rev Wright and the black church matters. 70% of those people were turned off. How many votes that OBAMA would have lost.
Let’s add up to the two states that OBAMA held off revotes in order to stop the momentum of Clinton. OBAMA campaign turned off two states.
Hillary started with -30% before going into North Carolina. They have already made up lots of ground.
The Maths become clearer that Hillary is the best candidate in the general election. OBAMA’s black votes will turn off as much white votes. He is absolutely out of touch with working class. He just doesn’t fit in.
A 3 year US Senator tries to steal the nomination and presidency with a scratch ball is a shame.
By all standards, Hillary is the better candidate for presidency.
Go Hillary. The longer it takes, the better your chance because OBAMA has many more bad news waiting for him.
The one who wins is the one who can cross the finish line. The OBAMA fanatics are so scare that they want to push you out of the race and win by default because they are running a risky campaign.

What i have never understood is the stupid Clinton crony argument that Obama cant win against McCain. Obama wins the electoral college in every scenario I have run in state by state match ups. Clinton vs McCain is a democratic bloodbath with McCain winning the electoral college by more than 300 votes. Run the votes yourself and see what you get… it is not a pretty picture for the democrats when Clinton is at the top of the ticket.

Posted by: Ben | May 7, 2008, 7:49 pm 7:49 pm

Yeah I’m about tired of Obama supporters rubbing their NC victory in our faces too! I’m even more sick of hearing “Hillary should just drop out”, if they are so convinced that Obama has this in the bag then what is the problem with letting it play out?
Furthermore, as I said before, Obama can’t win against McCain! The MATH there is very much against him! So for all the Obama supporters that are singing and dancing right now, I hate it for you when McCain takes the presidency that should have been an easy win for democrats!
Also, if he’s got it in the bag, then why not count the ALL OF THE VOTES instead of this 48 state load of JUNK!
I’m sick of Obama Supporters and OBAMA! I’m not jumping on his bandwagon no matter what! If it means voting for Nader, that is exactly what I will do before I will cast a vote to a man that sat in a racist church for 20 years and refuses to answer for it!
Beyond the Rev. Wright thing, the man is just not experienced enough to run this country right now!

Posted by: geekgoddess652 | May 7, 2008, 7:52 pm 7:52 pm

Ben,
Please show me the math that supports your “Clinton vs McCain” bloodbath! I would love to see where you get these numbers from because I’ve looked at the polls and I’ve read the articles! I’ve done my homework and Obama can’t carry the vote against McCain!

I love it when people complain about operation chaos, which did not work. Obama has been running adds asking for Republicans to reregister and vote for him. Now the crazy left is saying that republicans voted for Clinton. What irony, the same group that depended on the Republican and independent vote to begin with is now crying because the same vote was split.

DNC argued Hillary Clinton to quit before Texas, Ohio. Actually she played nicely, still a sweet girl after Wright Case. She did not use it, she will never destroy her relationship with African American. Can Obama better than her husband as president.
And Obama used her american dream & not audicity hope anymore

Posted by: indo45 | May 7, 2008, 8:04 pm 8:04 pm

Hillary is staying on and that’s good for America. Americans want a fighter and Hillary for President is just that.
I want her for President because we have proven that she will not quit on us. So, she loans another 6 million. That only means that she believes in investing in America, this country she loves so much – the country we all love so much. God bless her for doing that. Keep it going, Senator Clinton. I continue to pray for you. And to all the pundits on cable TV, may you all rot in ….. you know where.

lol i find it funny how everyone is telling Hillary to get out because he won most of the contests suppossedly? I am sorry but when he cant win the big states with huge populations then something is wrong. No offense but grand big wins in small states with low counts in the grand scheme of things dont really mean a huge victory in November. Lol I won south carolina and mississippi woop te do. If you can’t win Texas, Florida, New York and so on you definately do not have electability for the general population of the US.

Posted by: J.r. | May 7, 2008, 8:16 pm 8:16 pm

As an Obama supporter, you want to know why I would like Clinton to gracefully step aside? It’s because I’m a more loyal Democrat than any Hillary supporter who claims she should stay in.
Hillary’s presence in this race distracts the voters and the media from the general election matchup against John McCain, thereby hurting the Democratic nominee in the process. I would have called on Obama to step aside if, as is the case with Clinton, his only argument was that he was more electable than Clinton despite losing twice the number of states, the delegate race, the popular vote, the fundraising race, and had seen his opponent run a more smooth campaign operation. Oh, and despite being viewed by 6 in 10 Americans as being dishonest and untrustworthy.
That’s the case Clinton is making, and it is objectively absurd. Her only path to the nomination is to have superdelegates disregard the primary campaign process in historic fashion. That is not a tenable position for a Democratic victory in November.
So that’s it. That is why Hillary should step aside. We are wasting time and resources prolonging a primary battle that any objective observer can see will lead to Obama being the nominee. The time to come together under the Democratic banner and focus our sights on John McCain is now.

Um…no, amh, Europeans don’t hate us because Obama is doing well. Where did you get that idea? Europeans pretty much like him, and most will be disappointed if voices such as yours hand the White House over to McCain because the horse whom you’d have preferred lost in the primaries and had to be euthanized on the track.
Let’s face it: apart from the infamous Gas Tax Holiday pander, you’ll need to split some pretty serious hairs to find any major policy differences between Clinton and Obama. They have different personal styles, and one is a far better public speaker than the other, and that’s pretty much the extent of it. The fact that you’re buying into the “elitist” angle belies your claim to the title of “educated young woman.” How on earth does Clinton not set off your elitism detector, while Obama does?
If you choose to stay home or (worse yet) pull the lever for McCain because Obama wasn’t willing to fake the local accent wherever he went during this campaign, I would argue that it’s you who is the sheep. Karl Rove spent decades perfecting the divide-and-conquer approach which Clinton has now co-opted, and you’re apparently buying right into it. It’s entirely possible that you’ll get what you deserve: four more years of Bush Lite.
As for electability, there’s simply no strong case to be made for Clinton. Obama will lose those who fear insane black preachers and/or high-falutin’ words, but he will also win independents with whom Clinton has no chance against McCain. Clinton’s disapproval ratings speak of a disaster waiting to happen, and her behavior on the campaign trail in the past few weeks has only consolidated this. Don’t believe me? All you need to do is to look at last night’s results.
As for Michigan and Florida: they broke the rules. Their delegations will be seated in some form, because the party cannot afford otherwise, and the Obama campaign has been open to this. What they’re not so much open to is a seating that is based, without some form of adjustment, on a primary vote in which (in the case of Michigan) their candidate wasn’t even on the ballot.

Justsaying,
I would imagine that the degree to which Obama will want Bill or Hillary campaigning for him depends on how she behaves in the weeks to come. Even if she stays in the race, if she runs a positive campaign that targets McCain rather than more of this “kitchen sink” nonsense directed at Obama, then I think he will be happy to have her campaign for him. Bill, on the other hand, is a different issue. My view is that he is worth very little to Obama as a campaigner, considering how useless he has proven to be for Hillary….

For what it’s worth Hillary supporters not voting for Obama are growing larger in numbers. It’s over 50% now and polls show his base would be more prone to vote Dem no matter who….I don’t know. 13% of national population is black (of which 92% vote BO) and his college kids and 5 billionaire liberals
really wont’ make a dent in the general. Hillary voter block is closer to McCain’s therefor making it a tougher decision. If you put two horses in the race, one left of center and one right of center….closer race. Obama is so far off in the lefty stratisphere NEVER GOING TO GET ELECTED. I saw on MSNBC today Obama has only worked 143 DAYS IN THE SENATE!!!!!
The way he makes his campaign $$ is his Soros and other lefty BILLIONAIRES who BUNDLE their money into his campaign.
You really think the college kids and black vote (being 13% of our country) really keep him bankrolled? Think again Obama cult.

I can`t believe what I have been reading on here. Democrats voting for a Republican out of spite? Following the DNC rules only if it is beneficial to your candidate? I guess that saying that Dems fall in love and Repubs fall in line is true. It sure goes a long way in explaining how this country got to be such a mess. Me. I`m going to be an adult and vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is for the sake of my country and future generations.

Its only a matter of time when Rev. Obama will be taken apart by Wright. Wright says he will come after obama and I hope it will be soon so the people can learn more about the twenty years wright was a father figure to obama. Obama just tells lies about the wright issue but wright tells the truth. Obama stopped the revotes in Mi & Fla but now wants our help because he thinks he has won the nomination. Why should the voters of Mi & Fla vote for this joker when he doesnt have any use for us until he thinks he needs us. If obama ends up the nominee, I will never vote for him and I hope all of Mi & Fla voyers feel the same. We can withstand four years under McCain.

Posted by: oh bomb us | May 7, 2008, 9:07 pm 9:07 pm

jax, Obama’s campaign follows DNC rules only when it’s convenient for them too. If the DNC wanted to have a nominee picked by February for fear of “splitting the party” why did they schedule primaries to go on until 6/3? Those are the rules too. If he doesn’t like it. He can take that up too. Remember, he hasn’t won the nomination yet. He, like Hillary, cannot get over the top without the superdelegate votes either. Let’s just let the contest play out.

Posted by: john_ccy | May 7, 2008, 9:21 pm 9:21 pm

“We can withstand four years under McCain.”
Is that really the best you can do, B.W.? Is your central message that it’s better to vote for the candidate who has no intention of bringing change, because the candidate who promises it might not be capable of delivering?
Good luck with the withstanding, then, I guess.

Jax…Dems aren’t voting for Reps over spite. I am a Rep. that voted Dem for Hillary, and a vote your party wouldn’t normally get from me anyway. LET’S FACE IT….EVERYONE, AND I MEAN EVERYONE, ALREADY KNOWS WHO THEY WILL VOTE FOR IN NOV. I hope Hillary does not run “the dream ticket” with BO as VP. Much as I like her capabilities and love of her country….I could never vote Obama for anything. He’s lucky he has a seat in the senate….HE’S ONLY WORKED 143 DAYS AS A SENATOR…SO QUALIFIED. THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACIAL DIVIDES EITHER. I believe many centrist Americans are AFRAID of him and his radical ideologies/ties.
There is a new club on line….CLINTON SUPPORTERS VOTE McCAIN! I will be buying a t-shirt and wearing it in the fall and WORKING TO ELECT A FINE AMERICAN…SEN. JOHN McCAIN. I believe Hillary would have worked her — off for this country and well. I’m listening to 790 ABC talk raido right now and a caller is saying Obama offers nothing…he is not a problem solver, and inexperienced AND SHE IS A BLACK WOMAN IN LOS ANGELES! I’m telling you this guy CANNOT WIN and I so appreciate this African American woman on ABC radio right now saying she will vote McCain if HRC is not nominated. His speeches are empty and she has never VOTED REPUBLICAN. She is also talking about his drug use in his book…his pre-emptive disclosure about his coke use. Larry Sanders also says BO judgement and ideology is what makes him UNELECTABLE….THIS FROM A BLACK, REPUBLICAN RADIO HOST!

Hillary is a compulsive liar, a thief, a doormat for a cheating husband and a Senator that has doing nothing for New York. It’s amazing the cloud of deception she has ridden through her adult life. Obama at least shows some intelligence and class but clearly has his own demons. Fact is, he’s a more viable candidate or the lesser of two evils. It really won’t matter much as McCain will probably win handily in November as he’ll easily carry the heartland, southwest and Florida. I’m just amazed how anyone can vote or like Hillary Clinton. If you do, please answer this question “what has she done for anyone that was not politically motivated”? Answer: Nothing.

Posted by: Dave | May 7, 2008, 9:36 pm 9:36 pm

Stay and fight! When Iowa, NH, Wy were allowed to have voting before Feb 5, it is unfair that Florida and Michigan had that right taken away.
If the Democratic party wants to see a lot of people move away from it, they can do that by taking voting rights aways from states.
NO one should have that right!
Keep up the fight.
I was a lifelong Republican until Reagan created so many homeless people and I have been a Democrat since then.
But I won’t stay with a party that takes voting rights away from states. Nor will I vote for someone who was a US Senator for 1 year and declared he would run for President! JFK was in the House and Senate for 14 years before he was President. Obama can put in the time if he wants the job.
Can he stand the heat in the oval office? Seems as though after evey tough election, he has to take a vacation – that won’t work in the White House.
I want someone in the White House, with some background and that understands the US is in a fight to maintain a world presence with all of these nations becoming economic powers now. We are so behind the race and have a lot that requires we catch up.
I am still with Hillary.

I get what you’re saying here, Debra: Democrats should take electability advice from Republicans, at least if those Republicans happen to split the difference by being black.
Can’t say I agree, and bringing up Obama’s drug use isn’t helping your cause. Newsflash, spoken in all caps just to fit in with your style: EVERYONE TRIED COKE BACK THEN, INCLUDING BUSH. Since BO has this in the bag, do you think he will debate Hillary now in Oregon? They are begging him to do it and have offered him four different dates…..is he still running scared…the newspapers and locals are asking him. He looks like a weenie if he doesn’t…must get E.D. around Hillary and how she outperforms at EVERY debate.

what i don’t get is this: what theme would hillary run against mccain in the fall? economy? well obama could do that too against an unsuited mccain. iraq? she’d be the flipflopper then – for/against it, who knows, we know the republicans ;) third: was hasn’t come out on the democratic contest could come out an the national stage – the gender issue could play a role as big as the race issue. next one: the fighter? – against mccain, a tortured war hero? clinton has run a republican campaign so far – given that choice, I guess people will at least vote for the real republican in november.

The audacity of hope…the arrogance. JFK, who he loves to compare himself to, worked 12 years in the Senate and Obama has figured with 143 days, he’s now qualified. I guess he knew his time had come, as Ferraro said, because he’s black. I hate to make comparisons, but OJ got a pass and it really didn’t affect all of us. This “pass”?….God help us all.

I couldn’t agree with Ethan more. All you people who claim you will vote for McCain instead of Obama, change parties: you are no longer wanted or needed in the Democratic party. I’d rather lose than put more conservative judges on the Supreme Court. In the words of James Carville, you are Judas’s.

After 2000, it’s always amusing when Republicans change their stripes in the interest of electoral fairness. But let me get this straight: you’re changing your registration so that you can vote against the man who legitimately won the Democratic nomination, rather than supporting the candidate whom you actually do support?
I’d suspected that GOP voters were angling along these lines, and I thank you for admitting it. It’s brilliant strategy.

Frankly, Florida and Michigan are simply disgusting for this party, regardless of which candidate is supported.
In Florida you have a Republican House, Senate, and Governor. Exactly how were the Florida voters expected to remedy this? I hear over and over about “the rules” but I find it unbelievable that this party after having endured Florida in 2000 would even go down the road it is on. Barack Obama had the chance to really be not the usual politician and instead sat on delegate math and dug in his heels when it came to a re-vote. The states were punished when the party did not campaign there. The loss of dollars and attention was a punishment. Loping off the heads of innocent voters is just draconian.

Posted by: Ed Servatius | May 7, 2008, 10:24 pm 10:24 pm

WE CLINTON SUPPORTERS need to contact our Congressmen and US Senators and Howard Dean and insist on Michigan and Florida delegates being seated fairly. No 50/50 split which would cancel Hillary’s legitimate wins.
It is ridiculous for Obama supporters to insist that the “voters” in those states DESERVE to lose their voice because the State Party Organizations broke some rules. When did any of us get to decide when or how we vote in primaries or in the general? Get Real…the voters are always innocent bystanders.
Florida can be counted “as is” since Obama and Clinton were on the ballot and no one was favored.
Michigan needs a revote and since they are going to vote on statewide measures on Aug 5th, there is NO REASON why they can’t choose between Clinton and Obama at the same time.
Right now, it is Obama and his supporters who are blocking any Michigan revote or Florida seating for that matter.
WE VOTERS need to write Howard Dean and our state superdelegates and convince them that we WILL NOT STAND for the contest to be stacked in favor of Obama because “his supporters might get upset”. Hillary’s supporters WILL GET UPSET as well if she doesn’t get a fair shake and that includes the votes she got from Michigan and Florida. (The media and Howard Dean act as if Obama, by virtue of being black, has a higher claim than Hillary. Listen and you will hear this outrageous bias everywhere.)
If Obama gets his way, it will be all of us who lose since he will have NO chance in November without the support of Michigander and Floridian voters as well as angry voters such as me. We must promise retribution if Howard Dean and the credentials committee refuse to play fair.
Write congress.org and Howard Dean at democrats.org
Do this today and pass it on please. Time is running out and the Rules Committee is meeting at the end of May.

His WHITE grandparents send him to prestigious schools. He doesn’t even know what a food stamp looks like. As for the answer to your question: HILLARY DID PLENTY. What about your hero that was writing hate books and raking in millions rather than doing his job as an Illinois senator?

Nice try, dude. This primary game–and the charade that Hillary still has a chance–is over. Why does the media insist on resurrecting a horse that’s been dead since Obama went 10 and 0 in February?
Any impartial analysis of this situation can only conclude that Clinton’s campaign is finished. Any contributers she has left at this point are doing nothing but throwing good money after bad.

Florida and Michigan played chicken with the party and lost. Any resolution which in any way recognizes their sham primaries would be a gross injustice to all the states and territories that followed the rules.
We keep hearing that Florida’s Republicans were responsible and we shouldn’t punish the Democrats. Well, what about the fact that many Democratic state legislators voted for the bill? Why, instead of working to find an alternative to a state-run primary or suing the state for setting a primary date that violated the rules of BOTH national parties, did Florida Democrats sue the Democratic National Committee (unsuccessfully) for simply enforcing rules that they willfully chose to violate? The answer is simple: Florida Democrats were just as complicit as Michigan Democrats were in this assault on the rules and they are still trying to be rewarded for it.
Let’s be clear: it’s not just the early states that they tried to cheat; it’s every state or territory that followed the rules. We should all be mad as Hell if they get away with it.

This is going to go on despite the 4 super d’s that came out for BO today. They had them last week, but were keeping them for today’s news, to diffuse Obama’s loss in Indiana. Want to keep the appearances alive. Delusional Dems…never can get it right. Track record…last 8 out of 10 Presidential elections…REPUBLICANS WIN. “.last 8 out of 10 Presidential elections…REPUBLICANS WIN.”
It’s acutally 7 out of 10, but I wouldn’t count the 2000 “win” as a win. Al Gore won and he would have won in 2004 as well. It would then be 5 out of 10. But nevermind we will have a two term Democratic president in the coming years for starters to bring it back to 5 out of 10.
btw the democrats won 10 out of the last 19 even with the GW Bush scam.

With the support of the media that undermined the Democratic nomination process, Obama will crash and burn in November if he swipes the nomination, and the Democratic Party will be a train wreck. Radical left wing liberal George McGovern lost every single state except one state in the general election; same will happen with Obama, a radical left wing liberal.
Sen. Clinton is fighting for the future of America; the superdelegates must select the best qualified candidate for the presidency using their independent judgment and that is Sen. Clinton.

The debates and primaries are for show casing the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates and their solutions for issues for the voters. The debates and the primaries are for the people so they can make an informed decision and vote for who is the best candidate who demonstrates Presidential qualities, experience, able to answer question easily with real substance and to the point, support the plans and solutions for issues that will benefit the people not the elitist aristocracy or hidden radical agendas. Obama refuses to do any more debates because he is a sore loser he performed miserably by not answering the questions with straight forward to the point answers and lost all of the debates. Obama is scared that his elitist beliefs and attitudes towards the people of the USA and his disrespect and hate of the USA and its people will be completely exposed. Obama is scared that his true greedy desires in obtaining power and money will be completely exposed. Late breaking news Illinois Senator Obama laundered money (personal income) from Blackwell through his the lawyer firm he worked for prior to his being elected to the Illinois Senate. Blackwell who received political favors from Obama and Obama received donations for campaigns and hidden personal income. Obama will be indicted for these criminal actions. Obama is scared his actions, lack of action and very questionable associates clearly demonstrate Obama’s true intentions and agendas. Obama is scared that all the negative things Obama has accused Hillary of doing and saying in this campaign are actually the very actions and things Obama has been doing and saying not Hillary. Obama is scared his lack of confidence and inexperience will be completely exposed. Another very important reason Obama is scared and will not debate is Obama can’t remember all the lies he has told during his campaign. Here are 76 lies and counting that Obama has told us at http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.com/?page_id=15 Find more lies told by Obama at http://www.hillaryclinton.com Click on the icon Fact Check. If Obama loses the Democratic Nomination for President his supporters say they will riot in the streets. Obama supporters want to turn the USA into third world countries like Kenya and Zimbabwe. Rioting in the streets because, Obama has been exposed as a spoiled brat; weak, wimpy, arrogant, elitist, inexperienced, corrupt, racist and radical to the extremes are character traits, beliefs and actions of Obama that will cause him to lose this race for the President of the USA. Rioting in the streets is very immature and stupid like Odinga, Obama’s cousin who incited riots and death squads in Kenya. Mugabe did the same in Zimbabwe because he is a mentally challenged immature violent sore loser like Odinga. The USA is a country that provides many freedoms for its people example: right of free speech and the right to vote as we please. Be smart make an informed decision and vote for the most qualified and experienced candidate for President of the USA Hillary Clinton who respects the people, who listens to the people, has compassion for the people of the USA. Hillary will fix the economy and fight for the people of the USA by creating solutions for real changes that benefits all the people of the USA. Hillary will unite the people of the USA, restore the US Constitution and win back the respect of our people and the respect for our government of the USA world wide. Hillary has real substantial solutions for real changes that make sense and will help all of us. Go to Hillary’s web site and explore it http://www.hillaryclinton.com Look at Hillary’s detailed solutions for real changes on the economy, healthcare, education, veterans benefits, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Read Hillary’s speeches, fact check, attack timeline (of Obama attacks on Hillary), Women for Hillary, and all the other great places on Hillary’s web site to find out more about Hillary so you can make a informed decision and vote for Hillary. Hillary lost North Carolina because about 40% of democratic voters there are african american.
Suprise, suprise, why do you think 9 out of 10 blacks vote for obama?
It was expected that she would lose North Carolina. Indiana was supposed to be the test for her and she pulled it off.
Now the media is twisting the news to their advantage. But for months it’s been known she wouldn’t win N. Carolina.

“If Obama loses the Democratic Nomination for President his supporters say they will riot in the streets. Obama supporters want to turn the USA into third world countries like Kenya and Zimbabwe.”
Yeah, you got me there, Bob4USA. Turning the USA into Kenya and rioting in the streets is totally what I’m all about as an Obama supporter. Did I mention that I’m also elitist and possibly Mooslim?
Young voters and African-American voters will not riot in the streets if Obama is denied the nomination that he won fair and square. They will simply stay home next time, and many times after that. If this suits your purposes, I can only hope that you’re ready to be asked for the next couple decades what those purposes really were — given that they clearly have nothing to do with promoting the platform of the Democratic Party.

I agree Mark…you should go to the Numbers Battling Data site here at ABC and read the poll numbers. They are so quick to count her out and yet time and again, she polls better than BO against McCain. When are they going to get it. I feel money, billionaire liberal/radicals BOUGHT this nom for BO. They “bundle” their money into his campaign…because how many college kids and African Americans can keep donating up to $2,300? Really.
I hope she wins big in next two primaries…wish she could win 92% of the white vote the way Obama get’s 92% of African American vote.

If Hillary doesn’t get the nomination, I hope she burns the place down on her way out. I’m sick of 18 year olds that know nothing about the world deciding who the nominee of my once great party is. I can understand the African American vote but even they should see through this man who never acknowledges them. I am one of those Hillary supporters who see McCain looking better and better. At least, I have confidence he will not rock the boat for the 4 years until Hillary can run again. People need to understand that the 50 percent of Hillary supporters that said they will not support Obama are real and it’s only going to lead to a 49 state lose for him. Burn it down Hillary!! Scorched earth sounds better to me than President Obama.

Harley I so agree with you. I know a die hard Democrat who has always voted for a Dem and this year he says he’s going to have to vote McCain. Many MILLIONS of us feel that way. I am so curious what percentage of this country is college kids. I know blacks are 13%, liberal – radicals, I don’t know that percentage either. I can tell you centrists are the voting block that usually determine the outcome and Hillary is that candidate. She and McCain would have had a good run. Just to join the gang of thug Obama supporters would be more than most can stand. It is not because he is black. He is not the caliber of individual her working class supporters can relate to. Too far left. Too elitist. Too untruthful with the Rev. Wright issue.

Lets find out how Obama supporters have been bamboozled, lied too, manipulated, conned into such an emotional frenzies that all their common sense, logic and reason have been thrown under the bus like the majority of Americans who earn less than $250,000.
The formula:
1. agitate to engage emotions by telling stories of wounded veteran, the poor and uninsured.
2. Give message or spew lies
3. Heal with feel good emotions by giving feel good quotes, tell joke, tell story with happy ending.
Everything in step 2 when the emotions are engaged becomes absolute truth with out question. Why because we are hurt emotionally (Step 1) by the peoples true stories at this point all common sense, reasoning and logic have totally been thrown under the bus. Step 2. Everything said becomes truth eve if a bunch of has just been spewed. Step 3 Ensures that you feel good emotionally about the message or lies just spewed to you and again all common sense, reasoning, and logic are thrown under the bus again. This is the reason why Obama can only give prepared teleprompter speeches and Obama fails to answer questions from the audience or in Debates. He only knows how to speak using this formula in prepared speeches. Obama supporters, DNC and Super-delegates vote for Hillary and tell Obama the jig is up and tell Obama to end his candidacy for President of the USA.

Attention Hillary; we all know most of your votes came from Republicans who crossed over temp. to try and help you win the Democratic Nomination. When your seat comes up, you will not have enough support from the Democratic voters to get re-elected!

Posted by: Demo Rules | May 8, 2008, 5:58 am 5:58 am

BO has not won, but he is winning, by the rules set before the contest begun and agreed to by all the parties.
FL and MI should be seated and will be, but not the way HRC wants them. She was happy to agree that they will not count until she saw that she needs them. FFS!, BO was not even on the ticket in MI and did not campaign in FL where HRC had the name recognition and he was an unknown. Seating them as is would not be very fair, and last time I checked, Americans like fair play.
BO is not asking HRC to withdraw, if you actually listened to what he said, you would know that he said that she has every right to continue and all the states should be able to have their voice heard. Most of the Dems also say its her choice and her choice only, they only ask that the negative personal attacks stop, let Mac do his own dirty work.
As for Operation Chaos in NC, there is no evidence that it worked. Exit poling shows that out of all the Republicans that voted in Dem primary, 50% went for HRC and 50% went for BO.
As for the posts in this forum, I refuse to believe that those people posting hateful, racist remarks would have voted for HRC were she the nominee.
As far as the bitter comments go, they were taken out of context completely. Let me try and spell it out for those of you who would rather listen to what people like those that brought you 8 years of W then to read them themselves. What BO said was that people gave up on expecting the government to act in their economic interests, and the only issues they thing that are left to them is their cultural legacy as in hunting and their faith in god, and that’s what they vote on. And believe me, as long as W and his cronies get to keep fleecing you, they will be more than happy to pander to you on those two issues.
As far as Mac goes, I personally like him, but I think that as a president he would be a disaster for the middle class and the bitter, gun toting, church going folk. He will mortgage the future of your children in order to line the pockets of the upper 5%. If you think you have it bad now, just wait till you have to pay $7.00 for a gallon of gas.

Posted by: Alex | May 8, 2008, 6:05 am 6:05 am

The media has and continues to destroy Clinton.
Not one station has even investigated the win in NC.
The state was nearly 40 percent African American.
Eighty percent of Obama’s voters (95 percent African American) sent their votes in as absentee ballots 2 weeks before the election.
Please check CNN exit polls on the night of the election. Bill Schneider commented that these votes were prior to the Wright scandals vicious comments.
The media has counted Clinton out in Texas and Ohio, Super Tuesday, Pa and now at the end of this election process.
Why is it that Obama didn’t close the deal in the state bordering his state?
Having Obama act like a winner when he didn’t win is a disgrace to our democracy. Michigan and Florida won’t forget how Obama has ignored them in the General election.
Clinton supporters won’t forget either. Over 40 percent the “typical white” people (Oama’s words} will support McCain.
Democrats just lost the election. b

Anyone paying any attention, and surely the Clinton and Obama camps are, knows everything listed above and then some.
But thanks for listing some of the main points out anyway.
Thing is, the vast money differential, the vast left and right wing media bias, the huge issue of two states for Clinton not counting but they will count after he gets crowned and their votes won’t really ever count the way they should have, the polls saying he can’t win over her base, and all that other pertinent information isn’t going to sway the pundits to stop and think and stop swaying the masses to a dead end. The lemmings are jumping off the obama cliff at an ever astounding rate.
When she wins KY and WV they will still call for her to drop out and people, like McGovern (who I’ve been comparing Obama to for 6 months) will keep on insisting despite the mountain of evidence to the contrary that He is The One in their trance like dream state.
It will take a strong cup of smack-in-the-face and bitter tears on the day after election day to realize where the dems by and large, once again, went terribly wrong.

Wow. Hillary apparently has been winning so much that she’s behind now.
How’s that for logic. The loser whines again that Obama spent more in the state. Let’s face it more people want Obama to win. If they didn’t, don’t you think that Hillary wouldn’t have to beg for cash in her speeches..?
So you think that the Super delegates should back her.. Why..?
Is it because..?
1. She has shown that she can win legitimately..?
or
2. She has less baggage than Obama..?
On another note… I hate to bring this up but….
People over 65.. basically are the people who have a lot of racist baggage.. (Can’t blame them.) It’s I suppose the time they lived through. — All would vote for a white candidate.
And people who are NOT college educated. – mostly Hillary supporters.
Wow. So to sum up.. Racists and stupid people want Hillary to win…

I am sick and tires of the Obama so called supporters always putting other people down.
Don’t you understand this is part of the reason why Clinton supporters have hard time with Obama.
You have all cried racism when even your candidate has clearly stated on many occasions that the Clinton’s are not racist. So you should follow along with your candidate and try and be honest for a change.
There are people out here that have been following this since the beginning I have seen every one of the debates, I started paying attention from the get go. I have different views then Obama on somethings. And just like with Hillary I question his judgement, and I have for a long time now. This does not make me racist, I just have a different opinion.
We all live in this country, and if you really believe in your candidate then you should practice what he preaches, unity your to try and unite the party not belittle the party just to make yourself fell bigger or better. This is about everyone not just you, this is everyones country.

I am a Hillary supporter who would vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee for the democratic party..let me explain..The economy right now is the best that the country has ever experienced. Gas is 75 cents a gallon and the Republican party is doing and excellent job. We are winning the war in Iraq and very little casualties. The war is good for our economy..it is because of the war why our economy is so healthy right now..People are buying homes and mortgage payments are low..Why would I want to change that and vote the democrats in..I would have to be blind, dumb or deaf to vote for anyone but McCain who I know would continue the wonderful policies that are responsible for healthy economy right now…there are millions of Hillary supporters who think like I do and we thank Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity for the wisdom that they have imparted to us relative to the healthy economy. Thank you and God bless America. Vote McCain 08 it would be absolute best for America because he would continue the good policies that are responsible for our healthy economy. Thank you America for giving me the opportunity to share some wisdom.

I am a hillary supporter who would vote for McCain if Obama is the democrat nominee. You see we need to continue the war in Iraq because all the pilots on those planes that went into the towers were Iraqis(People keep telling me that they were Saudis but I think they were Iraqis) All the commisions that said that there was no link between Iraq and 911 do not know what they are talking about. McCain is going to continue the war and I like war(Remember I am a Hillary Supporter who is voting for McCain) War is a good thing! Vote McCain 08

Earl is this your sarcastic effort to thank us for voting for John McCain? You are welcome.

It’s funny how the Obama supporters are now trying to insist that Hillary’s supporters should not abandon them and vote for McCain. Obama has run a vile campaign of destruction against the Clintons through his surrogates. Meanwhile, he’s presented himself as a candidate of a “new kind of politics”.
Well, Mr. Obama, you have have fooled a lot of people, but I, for one, have paid attention and seen what is really in your soul.
I hate to stereotype, but overall, as a group, Obama’s supporters have been the most vile, hateful and disrespectful people I’ve ever come across both on blogs and in person.
So in closing, this lifelong Democrat will be leaving the party and voting for John McCain. He and I may not agree on a lot of issues, but he loves America and I trust him.

How will Obama be able to answer any of the hard questions if Hillary is out of the race? Vote HILLARY!

I’m a young voter too and I’m a Hillary supporter. I’m also college educated, maybe all of you other college educated can look between the lines. Barack Obama has practically no resume to be President of the United States, he has Oprah that is a Billionaire and has bough her friends the media. Ironically she made her career with white women and turned her back on them. I’m a Latina voter and all of us from California, Texas, Florida and everywhere else can voter for Mc Cain because he is not Bush he is a maverick that has worked with democrats with immigration. Latinos for Hillary all the way!!!! We are loyal to the Clintons!!!!

The biggest headline missed Tuesday, if this were the general or we used the same system as the general, Hillary would have won with Indiana, 271 electoral votes to Obama’s 217 and there are 5 states left to vote.. She will have smoked him badly, how is the democrats gonna put up someone who cant even beat “the second best candidate”.. How bout if she runs an IND ticket.. Add up the electoral votes, she wins against Obama and McCain if Obama can take a couple of the red states from McCain.. Now this is an intersting idea that needs to be looked into more..

Hi, I’m a first time voter. I caucus for Hillary here in my state, it was bad, real bad. Obama supporters were muscling us. I’d be 22 November 5 of this year. I may be young, but I can see Obama for who he is. Not all young people are supporting Obama, there are many of us college students supporting Hillary.
I take offense when they call Hillary supporters “uneducated”. I’m too far from being uneducated, I’d be graduating next year, my major is Computer Engineering, I’m now working for Microsoft.
I’d set out this election if Senator Clinton is not the nominee for the Democratic Party.

We were outmuscled in Houston as well. In my precinct the Obama people cut in the front of the line and hijacked the caucus. They were very aggressive and in my opinion tried to steal the election. The rest of us acted civil and stayed in our place in line. It was a very disgusting experience to deal with the Obama supporters. I refuse to vote for Obama.

I AM A HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTER AND I SAY WHAT MANY OF THESE OTHER SMART PEOPLE ARE SAYING AND THAT IS IF OBAMA IS OUR NOMINEE, I WILL VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN. OBAMA IS THE WEAKEST CANDIDATE TO DATE TO FACE THE REPUBLICANS AND IF HE THINKS THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO TREAT HIM WITH KID GLOVES LIKE THE MEDIA HAS DONE THEN HE DESERVES WHAT HE GETS! I WAS INTO POLITICS WHEN AL GORE AND JOHN KERRY BOTCHED UP THE ELECTIONS WITH THEIR LACK OF UNDERSTANDING THAT IT IS NOT ABOUT WHICH STATES YOU WIN IT IS ABOUT THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE AND IF THE DEMOCRATS HAD THE SAME SYSTEM AS THE REPUBLICANS, HILLARY WOULD ALREADY BE OUR NOMINEE.
ALSO I AM A BLACK WOMAN IN MY 30′S WHO IS NOT FOOLED BY OBAMA’S LIES AND DECEIT TO GAIN THE BLACK VOTE! NOWHERE DOES OBAMA ACTUALLY SAY WHAT HE WILL DO TO HELP THE BLACKS AND YET THEY GO BLINDLY INTO HIS CORNER. NOT ME. ALSO I WILL BE REGISTERING AS AN INDEPENDENT COME NOVEMBER WHEN I SEE ANOTHER FAILED ATTEMPT BY THE DEMOCRATS TO WIN A NOMINATION THAT IS THEIR’S TO WIN BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE RUN BY A BUNCH OF IDIOTS (HOWARD DEAN, DNC) WE WILL PUT OUR ‘HOPE’ INTO UNELECTABLE BARACK OBAMA AND WE WILL NOT GET ANOTHER CHANCE FOR 20 YEARS OR MORE. I AM OFFICIALLY GONE.

I’m completely for Hillary Clinton. And if she doesn’t win, I will vote for McCain with the motto of “HILLARY FOR PRES. IN 2012!!”
And I loved the comment of “I hope she burns the place down on her way out.” I heard it said once that she has the ability to “go juggular” when need be. I couldn’t agree more. It’s what I love about her.

I don’t know if I posted here already but I want to say if Hillary doesn’t win the nomination I will write her in in November.

Bitter, bitter, bitter. My heavens, ladies, it’s a sad day for you. That you would throw your country over the cliff and refuse to see the bigger opportunity for America and the world in these times. Much of what Hillary represents in character is what has got the US its dismal reputation around the world. We have enough fighters wreaking havoc.
And by the way, the Iowa voters who started Obama’s roll – aren’t they hard-working white people???

Posted by: Terri | May 9, 2008, 11:06 am 11:06 am

Republicans don`t even have to try. Democrats voting, monkeys playing with guns, same result. Clinton backers won`t
go with Obama if he gets the nomination and Obama backers won`t go with Clinton if she gets the nomination. Stalemate. Neither can win in November.

Education (at least the kind we have in America) doesn’t necessarily preclude ignorance.
How can the Clinton supporters expect to be treated well with this juvenile “we didn’t win so we’d rather harm than country than accept reality” attitude?
As Hilary has agreed with McCain against Obama (and been demonstrably wrong) several times recently, I can only assume that the Clinton supporters have been for 4 more years of Bush all along.
Our elections are not supposed to be about cults of personality. They are about setting the course of the nation.
It is mind-boggling but eye opening that so many Clinton supporters would prefer to give the country 4 more years of failed policies just to show us how upset they are that their candidate lost. What if we give you all a lolipop? Will dat make you feel better?
Wow. The democratic party has buried itself with this juvenile behavior for 8 years now and learned nothing. Such nonsense. Someone pushed in front of me on line at a caucus so the candidate they support is no good. Can you believe that an adult would say that? Can you believe their are democrats who still call McCain a maverick when he has acted in every way opposite to his “maverick” rhetoric.
I hadn’t been decided on supporting anyone so don’t go accusing me of being a rude obama supporter. I’m willing to support the Democratic nominee because we don’t need 4 more years of running America and the middle classs into the ground. Just remember that education doesn’t help those who refuse to think nor those who feel their hurt wittle feelings are more important than their fellow Americans/ fellow Democrats.
Grow up and do it fast before we lose more of what makes America a great country.

All i need to contrybute here is that for the DNC to be very FAIR to both Dem. Presidential candidates and to use the DNC ruleas wisely to Retain and lets the Mi and Florida votes count based on Equal Jugements for both candidates.
For all the BIG NUTS Hillary supporters, STOP MOCKERING around and show you have a bit of understanding here and BE REALISTIC and do not be FOOLED. There is no Obama’s hand in the MI anf FL problems and h should be string to this. If Hillary feels the RULES should be changed only because she is behind in everything that matters to the RULE of the game, the It is time to QUIT and accept BIG DEFEAT.
As such, to pave way for a BETTER and more INTELEGENT Democratic Nominee, Barack Obama. I do trespect you Americans, which is an epitome of GOOD things to be emulated by the world all over. With this great contest a lot are going to be learnt, either in the homes and in the government , mostly with the facts that New is better than old, moreso Hillary is full of OLD ANTIQUES, while Obama is FRESH and NEW. Hence the need for the CHANGE that we all BELIEVE and to work together to bring a befitting POLICIES that are working for the benefit of all.
Long Live American Democrats.
