Hillary Mentions RFK Assassination When Discussing Why She’s Staying in the Race
In an interview with the Argus (SD) Leader editorial board today, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, took the unusual step of invoking the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy, D-NY, when discussing reasons why she was staying in the presidential race.
Asked about calls for her to drop out, Clinton said, “This is part of an ongoing effort to end this before it’s over. I sure don’t think it’s over." She mentioned how non-frontrunners took their delegates to the convention in 1980, 1984, 1988, and 1992.
Suggesting that Obama’s campaign has been the source of stories about a unity ticket with her as vice president, Clinton said, "people have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa."
Clinton was then asked if she doesn’t think that those calling for the ticket are actually interested in uniting the party.
"I don’t because I’ve been around long enough," she said. "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know, I don’t understand it. And there’s lots of speculation about why it is."
Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton responded: “Senator Clinton’s statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign."
The Clinton campaign responds that Clinton "was simply referencing her husband in 1992 and Bobby Kennedy in 1968 as historic examples of the nominating process going well into the summer. Any reading into beyond that would be inaccurate."

Sen. DeMint: GOP Race Could Go Until Convention
Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
Hillary might be hoping for a last minute miracle to boost her lust for power. Fortunately she has revealed to too many Americans what a manipulative
dishonest person she really is and I would be surprised if the 50% of all Americans who said they would never vote for her has even expanded into the 60%.

What is
HILLARYS problem . She again today made a comment about Obama and Kennedy connection and why she is staying in the race . Something stupid about kennedy being assinated in June . Why does she want Obama to be assinated? Is this what she is hoping will happen . This comment from Clinton was very strange at most . She is out of control.

She could have said Bobby was still campaigning in June .. but no – she had to take it up a notch to plant the notion and get some media attention.

Why the media has been so cruel to Hillary??
At the beginning of the campaign, Obama said / implied, if Clinton is president, our life can be as good as in 1990s. He wants to change, wants better. But can he do it as well as Clintons? Maybe he is worse?? Why the media didn’t say Obama is so cruel, so arrogant to downgrade Clinton’s accomplishments? I’m really angry on the facts that, such an inexperienced person dare to be so arrogant.
What did Obama do????? What did he change????????????????????????????????????????

Everybody Chill: I’m not worried! Oboma will be nominated! I how do I know this? Because he is a smart guy and he has smart people on his team. He and his team have outsmarted Hillary and Bill. He has correctly read the realities of the nation, the electorate; the Democratic Party’s rules, the demographics. The evidence is almost irrefutable. Read his book, look at his campaign, witness how he has handled things, how he understands the realities of a global world. He and his team know exactly what they are doing. If the SDs are not coming out for him right now it is because he has asked them not to. He has the nomination, he is now working on the campaign………..and if I am wrong about all of this, then he isn’t smart enough to be our president in this national defining moment.

At a time when the Kennedy family is having to come to grips with Senator Kennedy’s diagnosis, to bring up Bobby’s death was crass. When we all know that the Obama’s have extra secret service protection – her choice of examples was tasteless.
This woman wants to be President?
I hope the supers are watching.

News to Hillary: the California primary was in January this year and you still aint the frontrunner.
Second, to even mention a Kennedy… when Ted Kennedy already endorsed Obama after a heated argument with Bill… just 2 weeks before the anniversary of Bobby’s death, means she has no respect for anyone but her own blind ambition. I hope a Kennedy spokesperson lands on her with both feet…some straight talk might wake her up. Might.

Why is this a story? Does Obama own history and historical figures now? He mentions historical figures all the time as if they (FDR, Truman, Reagan, Churchill) personally endorse his candidacy. Primaries have been carried out in June. The searing images of RFK’s assassination should jog anyone’s memory who was alive then.

I am not an american, i live overseas, but if you guys are vetting your next president, by taking out of context every thing the other side which ever it might be. You guys are making a huge mistake, it is like 2004 and 2000 all over again.
Good luck to the world.

See how the dirty Obama campaign goes about doing their evil deeds?
They take everything their opponent says and then they twist it around by ascribing the most malevolent intent to it. This is why Obama’s supporters are such a bunch of fanatical haters. They have been trained like dogs to hate everything there is about Hillary Clinton.
Deval Patrick did the exact same thing to his female opponent in the election for Massachusetts Governor. Look it up. Look up everything Deval Patrick said about his female opponent, and you’ll David Axelrod’s fingerprints all over them. It’s all about coaxing hatred for the opponent. It’s really easy to hate Hillary Clinton if you buy into the Obama/Axelrod/Patrick smears; if you really believe the Obama lies that Hillary is talking about Obama being assassinated. This is the exact same way that Obama and his campaign smeared the Clintons as somehow being racists.

All she’s doing is hoping and praying to sabotage Obama’s chances of election because she needs to win NOW or 8 years from now. If she has to wait for Obama to complete (2) terms she’ll be too old by then.
What she fails to realize is that with every attempt to poison pill the process she solidifies those who won’t vote for her (4) or (8) years from now. I imagine her LOSING her seat in NY as well.
She should have known better. The NEXT Clinton (Chelsea) will have to pay for her sins; just like like SHE is paying for Bill’s. This will be the year where the public officially RETIRES the Clintons. All of them…

RFK Assassination? This “excuse” of the day psychodrama is a mess. When this is over and HRC returns to the Senate as the Junior Senator from her latested home state of NY she is going to find she has few friends.
BTW..read Peggy Noonan’s editorial in the WSJ about talented women leaders who did not constantly blame others. Then again HRC is nowhere near the quality of the leaders mentioned. Indira Ghandi, Golda Mier and Margaret Thatcher. Hillary is a dishonest egotistical mess.

Yes, OxyCon, you are so right. And it would be another thing if it was only the Obama campaign that did this. But it’s the 24/7 media sales and support center that Matthews, Olbermann, Russert, et al provide to them at no charge. It’s tragic that any sense of fair political reporting has been destroyed by the Obama-loving press corps.

Trash talk, Obamamites, will not win this election. If you think this is 2000 or 2004, check your calendars.
Recruiting conspiracy nuts did not improve the chances for the Democrats, Senator Obama. You will lose the election and set back the cause of civil rights by half a century because you listened to those who told you an election is just another ad campaign with demographics tailored for the photoshoot.

okmatters: “so now hillary is hoping that a hit job on obama will give her the nomination.”
Did you even see the video??? She is simpley stating that there is precedent for nomination processes to go on into June, as they were during the 1992 Clinton campaign and the 1968 Kennedy campaign. To reference June 1968 as the time of his assassination is a historical fact. If you haven’t noticed, mention is being made everywhere, everyday about the upcoming anniversary of RFK’s assassination.
This constant twisting of Clinton’s statements is vile.

This sounds terrible, but for the longest now I have thought inwardly, ‘Please Obama, don’t make Clinton vice-president, she wants this TOO badly that ‘something’ could ‘happen’ to you and then the Presidency would be hers at last’…..then she says something like this! A Hypothetical Speech by Vice Presidential Candidate Clinton
Thank you for welcoming me here tonight. I know that we are all proud of Barack, who has risen from humble beginnings to such heights–great heights, perilous heights. As you may know, 30% of serious accidents occur from a height of 10 feet or above.
And so we now set out together on our journey–a journey of hope, a journey of change, and yes, a journey of great demands. For the Presidency places great demands on all of those who hold the office–we have seen how amazingly quickly it can age people in the poignant photographs of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was succeeded by Harry S. Truman while still in office.
In this journey, we will put forward our shared goals–of expanded health coverage, against the unexpected and often fatal illnesses that can rob even those citizens that seem the healthiest of their ability to work, even of their lives.
Of protection against unexpected attack on our country, often aimed at those who are placed in the most critical positions to lead this nation. Of conservation of our precious energy resources, without which, even the most powerful of us can wind up stranded in a desert motorcade, without food, water, or wireless reception to contact others for help. Of greater support for culture and the arts–beginning with increased support for our very own Ford’s Theatre here in Washington, DC.
Many of you will hear Barack speak later today, from a platform in Norman, Oklahoma–a humble platform, a rickety platform, a platform susceptible to Norman’s notoriously strong and unexpected winds. There–god willing–he will tell you of what we hope to accomplish. He will speak of the unity that he and I wish to achieve for this nation, just as Andrew Johnson and Lincoln strove for such national unity. And he will tell you of our wish for change.
Change. An important word. None of us can know the changes that will occur in our lives. None of us can predict what momentous events, what disasters may befall us. A simple damaged left engine turbine stabilizer in a campaign plane. A frayed electrical line dangling, unseen, from a remote access satellite hookup van. A safe, falling, unexpectedly, to the sidewalk from the 8th floor of the Hotel Aldion in Norman, Oklahoma.
And so, we must dedicate ourselves, consecrate ourselves, to reach these most important national objectives today–while we still can. And like Kennedy, Garfield, McKinley, and other Presidents before him, we know that Barack will strive to achieve these goals–in the face of the awesome unknowns that lay before us all.
Thank you.

some of you are incredible,
thank goodness none of you are in politics, we would have already had the nuclear war.
some of these comments show some of you are to high-strung, full of drama, and must be leading pretty empty lives,
if you think sen. clinton suggested anything more that referencing the summer months.
I know the rfk family are not running around saying
“lets withdraw our support for sen. clinton, she is a witch, she just started talking about my daddy and his death, omg what is she up to”
please folks, try to calm down and use some common sense.
there really is nothing to be made of this.

Obama is disgusting.
If you want to be president, work hard, show your STEADY accomplishments.
Don’t try to go short path, associate with or flatter Kennedy family.
You are you, you are not Kennedy.
Remember, how did you become US Senator?? You didn’t encounter ANY challenge at all. Just because you were recommended by a black Senator.
Obama, know yourself, be yourself!!
No matter how you imitate Lincon (gave speech in Philadelphia surrounded by American flags), you are still you.
Don’t try to imitate any previous young presidents. When Bill Clinto ran presidential campaign, he has been governor for 3 terms. How about you?
Your wife don’t try to imitate Jackie’s fashion style.
You are you, never forget!
Don’t eat more than you can eat.

Posted by: Maureen | May 23, 2008, 5:38 pm 5:38 pm
Nonsense Maureen. Nixon met with China. Reagan with the Soviet Union. I know this might be hard for a fearfully trembling mind to believe after 8 years of GW Douche, but one of the key roles of president is Chief Diplomat. You might also find it interesting that in addition to the aforementioned presidents, many other presidents used diplomacy to effectively resolve problems and open doors to better relationships.
I know, I know, it’s hard to believe that there is any better action than to bomb people we don’t like without even attempting to discuss problems first, but trust me, it is worth the attempt. Hell, you can always bomb them later if it doesn’t work out.

Yes, Clinton was at one point named one of the 100 most influential lawyers in the US. She was also fired from the House Judiciary Committee staff in 1974 for unethical behavior (namely, trying to arrange a denial of legal representation for President Nixon).
Also, Obama DOES have four more years experience in elected office than Clinton (which is what the post you responded to was referencing). Clinton was first sworn in as a US Senator in 2001, which was her first time in any political office. Obama was first sworn in as an Illinois state senator in 1997, which was his first time in any political office.

You claim the comment is a non-issue. Please feel free to answer this question, then.
Why would Clinton reference RFK’s assassination when answering a question about why she’s staying in the primary race?
It would have been MUCH different if she’d referenced the 1968 race going to the convention (which it did) or mentioning Humphrey or McCarthy. She did none of those things.
At the very least, her remark is, well, remarkably callous and insensitive. Obama got shellacked for saying, “You’re likable enough, Hillary”, in New Hampshire. But THIS is not newsworthy in comparison?

You say, “She was just pointing out a fact. A plane could go down with either candidate. A scandal we don’t know about, you never know.”
If either of those things happen (and it’s hard to believe any rational person would use those as a basis for continuing a campaign – but then again, this is Hillary Clinton), she could still get the nomination.
It’s not like the Dems couldn’t ask her to run if, say, someone assassinates Obama (not that she would ever link that possibility to her reason for staying in…oh, wait…).

I wholeheartedly agree with Worldcitizen. The point Hillary was making was that historically the Primaries ended in June. That was it plain and simple. By distorting and editorializing to the point of shear sensationism, ABC is just plain being provocative. Very stupid move on the part of ABC. Very bad judgment.

Hillary was referring to primary campaigns that went into June. Of course she put it pretty dumbly.
But the much much more exciting story is that OF COURSE she plans EVERY single word and every phrasing of every word that comes out of her mouth, and she WANTS people to think about assassinating Obama!!!!!
Actually who knows what this calculating mind is plotting? Probably having wrath poured down upon her is a secret creepy strategy for…what?

It’s very slick too the way ABC in its “top story” places very similar looking shots of RFK next to Obama. ABC is implicitly charging that in making an historical reference Hillary was somehow linking the RFK tragedy to another candidate. That is an outrageous charge. She holds RFK’s seat in the Senate, RFK Jr. has endorsed her and said that she most represents what his father was about. Deeply offensive.
Posted by: hopesprings52 | May 23, 2008, 6:19 pm 6:19 pm
BMR, Pittsburgh PA; and American10 -
First, I have no idea what motives ABC has or has not. So, I cannot answer your question.
As to BMR’s question: Why would Clinton reference RFK’s assassination when answering a question about why she’s staying in the primary race?
Because RFK stayed in a democratic primary without gaining nomination in June when he was assessinated, later than May (as HRC has been called or declared to quit or out of race since Iowa).
Which part is incorrect, and which part in not factual?
Why you guys cannot take a high road? It is BHO who preaches ‘New Kind of Politics”, “Hope”, “Change”. Do you call this kind of character assassination by BHO camp “Hope” and “Change”?

Let the Obama campaign make an issue of her remarks which all of us understand and he will just hasten the departure of hordes of Clinton’s followers right out of the Democratic Party and into McCain’s arms in November.
Last week, prominent Democrats lined up behind Obama to prop him up against the appeasement charge.
Where are they now to defend Hillary Clinton from smears within her own Party.
Her supporters are enraged at the treatment she’s received from the Obama campaign and the silence of the DNC.
We won’t forget this as we move toward November.

Hillary’s comments show to what ruthless lengths she will go to try and gain the presidency; by planting the seed for an assasination of Barack Obama. The superdelegates should rush to back Obama now, and slam the door on Clinton and her insidious remarks.

countallthevotes and All,
A man or woman is judge by their actions and their words.
Hillary is demonstrating the word that would be a hopefull result of Obama being shot. Grow up.
Assasination of Bobby has no relation to her continuing in the Primary.
Except that she is poisoning the minds of those who would commit such an act for her own gain.
So she said it and now all have to reason why,,
Rev. Wright said something and Obama hae to live with what Wright said, So why should Hillary not be accountable for what she SAID.
this is the third reference of Obama being killed.
Don’t be a Fool, she meant what she said as a Lawyer does.

No character assassination here.
Clinton was asked why she’s staying in. Her direct response – and ONLY reference to the 1968 campaign – was to invoke RFK’s assassination.
At best, it was woefully worded. It’s getting wide media play precisely because it’s a terrible statement.
Right now, a wide assortment of websites – conservative, moderate and liberal – are giving it top billing. Not my fault or yours – only hers.
The above is entirely factual. Sorry if that offends you.
Posted by: BMR, Pittsburgh PA | May 23, 2008, 6:25 pm 6:25 pm
CNN is reporting that Clinton made a similar historical reference in March. So what is the motive for the media/Obama attack right now?
“Clinton made a similar reference to Robert Kennedy in a March interview with Time magazine Managing Editor Richard Stengel, saying she could not envision a scenario in which party leaders would step in and call for the race to end.
“I think people have short memories,” she said then. “Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.”
Posted by: hopesprings52 | May 23, 2008, 6:26 pm 6:26 pm
At this point, there is absolutely no reason for the superdelegates to delay stepping forward to put this travesty of a primary out of commission. With her RFK assassination statement, Clinton has absolutely abrogated her right to continue in this campaign. The time is NOW, superdelegates. Now. Not June 3rd, not June 10th. Now. Period.
Hillary is a savvy politician and knew exactly the implications (read that: code) of her RFK assassination comment. With this, she has shown herself to also be a dangerous politician, devoid of scruples. No amount of apology is sufficient to offset the gravity of her, uh, “misstatement,” or, as the talking heads are calling it, “an unfortunate mistake.” Mistake, my ***. This is criminal!

bmr,
my point is abc and none of the other news outlets you just referenced should be making a story out of this.
it is not news. it is nothing to be reporting.
and it is irresponsible of all of them to be trying to make it so.
no what is happening here, is it is a holiday weekend, they cannot be bothered or there really was no real newsworthy story (i find that hard to believe, but ok i will go with it)
so make this up.
bm-this really is nothing to get all upset about-unless you are one of the people who just want to get upset at hillary clinton over the least little thing.
if all of the news organizations you have mentioned have made this their lead story-i am ashamed of our news organizations-they have all really done the american people a dis-service this election season. it really is to bad,
they all make good money

hopesprings52:
Recall that in March, the media was in Jeremiah Wright overdrive. Virtually nothing Clinton said got that much media traction.
Also, the timing of her remarks today was horrible, in part because the media was already on high alert for code words like “assassination” after Mike Huckabee’s comments to the NRA.
Plus, being a Friday, there isn’t a lot of news. If, say, McCain’s medical records had shown some big problems, her discussion with a local SD paper wouldn’t have gotten nearly as much focus.
It’s hard to understand sometimes what sticks with the media and with voters. I’m sure that, when Michael Dukakis strapped on that helmet to drive a tank, he had no idea he was effectively ending his campaign.

To try to make something out of this is the “old politics” of the lowest order. And Obama “Mr. New Politics” is ramming it down her throat. And the media is trumpeting it. ABC is even running a picture of RFK and Obama in virtually the same pose next to each other. It’s so clear that the mainstream media is absolutely desperate to get Hillary out of the race. They don’t understand that this just makes her supporters more steadfast. Hang in Hillary!!

I understand your point. The problem with your point is that the media often determines what is and is not news.
Clinton benefited greatly from this throughout March and April, as Obama got hammered for NAFTA-gate and Rev. Wright. She played those up every chance she got. She’s on the receiving end now, because of her own (VERY poorly constructed) comments. The only cause for outrage is if Obama tries to use this statement the same way she used, say, NAFTA-gate in Ohio.
This is Hillary Clinton’s mess. And it’s of her own making. I can’t say I have any sympathy for her.

DNC should come out and defend Hillary against these outrageous accusations.MS-OBAMA-NBC is all over it,the crazy panelists have not stopped salivating since this story came out.Shame on them to suggest Hillary was saying anything other than referencing a time frame. We all know it.For the Obama campaign to make statements out of this is outrageous. They began their quest for nomination by framing Bill as a racist and want to end by labeling Hillary as a candidate waiting for a tragedy!

well i am NOT watching the “NEWS” tonight, if that is all they can come up with. and I suggest all of you stop this, and get ready for a nice memorial day picnic and watch the war stories on history channel, they usually have some good one on. also scifi usually has a twilight zone marathon.
but please stop with the stories about sen. clinton wanting to kill obama.
i know you all hate bill clinton,
but sen. clinton has a daughter and a mother that have to listen and watch her be unfairly subjected to all manner of things anyway.
but not this. she would not wish obama dead. and yes obama WILL need her to campaign for him. but at this point i hope she will not.

American10…You are and always were an Obamabot. A simple comment like this is just another way for you to show your hate for her. It”s just another way for me to be even more angry at the media and Obamabots for all of their nasty remarks.
Hillary is right once again!!! She stated a fact. If Obama becomes President the tables will turn on them. He will get anyone fired for any factual statement that makes him look bad if twisted or viewed with Obama’s perspective. They will all deserve it. It should be fun. Their hands will be tied and deservedly so.

Simple and factually correct words can be interpreted in the most negative way to serve the purpose of the listeners. I wonder who is behind the scene pushing the story by over analyzing it. This reminds me of the events before SC primary, when the OBama camp tried their best the feed the media and press people to come out suggesting Bill’s fairy tale comments and Hillary’s LBJ and MLK comments are racial baits and racist.
Who is behind this pushing? Obama camping it doing it again?
Posted by: amy | May 23, 2008, 6:42 pm 6:42 pm
This comment was not that important other than show the timing. Why does ABC come down so hard on Senator Clinton and completely ignore the rubbish that Senator Obama puts out. Senator Obama comments about Cuba were outlandish. What does he plan to do except invade? Most rational people know he was pandering with the Cubans but ABC News does not state that.

Misrepresentation
You should not say things that you don’t mean or not phased correctly.
Speaking of HRC, when she blasted Obama for weeks about “people holding on to guns”
Short memory or selective memory lost.
Wake up America depends on a person like Obama who has tried to keep this Primary CLEAN. BUT Hillary started throwing MUD, then said Obama was not tough enough to FIGHT BACK.
She is a LOOSER.
Posted by: American10 | May 23, 2008, 6:47 pm 6:47 pm
The BHO camp is pathetic. On a situation, they could have easily show a better side of human nature, to take a high ground and to show some compassion, before Memorial Day. They could easily said – no big deal and let it go. This would probably have had won back 5% of HRC supporters, which would be a very good start. Now you further alienated 5% of HRC supporters, and reaffirmed those who will not vote for this phony in the general election.
In their typical style, they make character assassination.
RFK stayed in a democratic primary without gaining nomination in June when he was assessinated, later than May (at the same time, HRC has been called or declared to quit or out of race since Iowa).
Which part is incorrect, and which part in not factual?
Why you guys cannot take a high road?
It is BHO who preaches ‘New Kind of Politics”, “Hope”, “Change”. Do you call this kind of character assassination by BHO camp “Hope” and “Change”?

Why is something that was said simply as an historical reference so newsworthy??
My late father’s birthday was November 22nd. I have always remembered the day JFK was shot by remembering my father’s birthday….
Lincoln was shot only a few days after the Civil War ended. Many people remember his assassination date by remembering when the Civil War ended and vice versa.
Last month, everyone was all over the 40th anniversary of the late Martin Luther King Jr.’s assasination, and were replaying where he was and what he did on the day he died.
I’m certain just as many people will be remembering next month the day Bobby was killed…….
Most people remember certain events in a certain way, and by what was going on at the time.
Bobby had just declared victory in the California primary immediately before he was shot, and he was shot in early June. As she was a young woman at the time, I’m sure HRC clearly remembers the circumstances of that day like all of us who were alive then do, and simply puts the two memories together like most people do when recalling things from the past.
It was a terrible day in U.S. History, but nevertheless it WAS the day of the California primary when it occurred. I’m certain all of the news programs that come out next month for the 40th Anniversary of the event will also be mentioning that it was California Primary day, so what’s the big deal about HRC mentioning the same thing????

Hillary will always be a valuable asset to our country, and has taken enough crap from BO (though never directly!) to last her til forever.
He does not deserve to benefit from her brilliance and energy and she does not need the work.
Clinton deserves more than a just a position wherein she would be a political repairman dedicated to fixing unsurmountable problems after BO’s forseeable, unstoppable up-coming world-affecting blunders.
At least half of this country wants Hillary for our top dog, head honcho, POTUS;
It would be a waste of her talents to settle Vice president.

Imagine Barack saying that about Hillary…
Now can Hillary supporters who are trying to say this was simply a historical reference… okay there are lots of references she could have used is she that dumb that she would reference a situation where a candidate was assasinated as to the example of why she was staying in.

Im almost sure it was just a bad comment and she didnt mean any thing by it. She is running for the Dem nomination and should be more careful about using those kind of examples when giving reasons to stay in though. What I do not understand is some of the Clinton supporters wont even admit it was a bad thing to say. No matter what she does some of them just seem blind to it. Her name could be Hillary Manson
the way some of her supporters are attached to her no matter what she does.
Its almost scary. Obama has slipped and made a statement that came out wrong and Obama himself and most of his supporters admitted it was a bad statement regardless of what he meant to say and we moved on. Today Hillary aplogized, but didnt aplogize for even using such a sad example, but just aplogized if any one and most of all the Kennedy family took offense. It wasnt the offending she should aplogize for but the using that knd of example to stay in the race. She is desperate and tired my friends. I gave her the my understanding because this is a free country and she should be able to run as long as she wants. But now, not only does she look like she is trying to win underhanded but with statements like that, are hurting the whole Dem. party. I think its time for the SDs to step in and put an end to this for everyones good. If they do she will probably not reconize their decision either. Its a shame I really use to like her. Obama 08

What a classic move … read Shakespeare’s Richard the Second to see how the king (a weak & increasingly pathetic figure) makes a veiled reference to get his main challenger killed … and when he is, the king expresses surprise and remorse!!
..
As I have been trying to hold on to some kind of respect for Hillary, she is repeatedly demonstrating that ..
…
NO EVIL MOVE is too low for her. NO SELF-SERVING, power-grabbing desperation is beyond her .. and her spin machine.
….
Very sad. As with our earlier “choice”, it seems we get the leaders we deserve – UNLESS we send a clear message that we will not take this anymore.
…..
P.S. Homework Assignment: Ponder whether the citizen apologizers for Clinton are doing it knowingly or are they in the daze experienced by followers of charismatic “strong” leaders?

She probabaly didnt mean anything by it and was referring to past nominations. What was wrong was using that as an example and saying it out loud. You never know who might take a statement like that and think “good idea”. There are some real crack pots out there. When running for the highest position in the country, one should be more resposible than that. We all know that it was just an unthought statement and I know the media will spin it out of control as they have done with Clinton, Obama and McCain on really silly points. However it is still something that should have never been said especailly with all the racist nuts listening. Thats what she should apologize for.

The Bobby Kennedy comment was in the follow-up to the question about the drawn out process “hurting the party”. Her answer, when taken IN CONTEXT, is a response to the time frame of this race going into June or further. I don’t think she’s waiting for anyone to be killed…heck, they are both targets with how divisive this has been. Their is a reason they both have security.
The Democratic Party has historically proven itself strong enough to bounce back from even greater tragedies than HRC staying in the game until one of them has the number of delegates needed to be the nominee, and/or FL and MI are settled, or it is decided at convention. Who can deny that the most notable event our Party has endured is of course, the 1968 convention? We united after that, and will survive this too.
Those that are spouting concerns about “party unity” may want to study the Democratic Party’s history. “Unity” will happen when the process is allowed to play out and be completed…it always does. Strip HRC and her supporters of the right to complete the process though, it could be a whole new, and perhaps final chapter for the Democratic Party. If you want “Unity” start with “civility.”

Get a grip, people, and stop trying to slander Senator Clinton. The only reason she brought it up was to reference the date of Bobby Kennedy’s primary contest, which had run into June. Bobby Kennedy was obviously campaigning when he was assassinated and that was in JUNE.
The only reason this is even an issue is because the Obama campaign egged on the media with their first statement they issued about it saying the following:
“Sen. Clinton’s statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign,” said Obama spokesman Bill Burton.
Bobby Kennedy JR has already denounced what the Obama campaign has done and said he knows Senator Clinton did not mean anything other than the date when she referenced it.
This is clearly another smear campaign being run by Obama & friends to take away from the fact that she wiped the floor with him in WV & Kentucky and will do so in Puerto Rico and that she leads him in the important swing states in the polls for the general election, while Obama loses to McCain in those same states. He’s desperate and scared. If he and his campaign really thought he could win this nomination, he wouldn’t have said a word about this or started yet another smear campaign.

I don’t think Hillary meant anything sinister by this. It was just a poor choice of words.
Her detractors in the media are using this as an excuse to force her to drop out. They know that Obama doesn’t have enough pledged delegates to win the nomination and they don’t want this to go to the convention because Obama might lose.

The problem with the defense that she was just comparing it to a long primary is that RFK’s campaign in ’68 didn’t begin until March 16th when he announced he was entering the race. The first Primary he competed in wasn’t until May 10th, thus RFK was only 4 weeks into his campaign when he was assassinated, not part of a drawn-out primary. There is no comparison aside from his assassination occurring in June.
This was a grave mistake on her part and puts Barack, as well as McCain, Hillary and even Bush in jeopardy. I have worked with the mentally ill for 13 years and many who suffer from delusions are very susceptible to this kind of suggestive language. The last attempted assassination of a President was against Reagan and his assailant was schizophrenic. There is no place in politics for a seasoned politician to make these kind of dangerous and incredibly offensive comments.

I didn’t think that narcissistic personality disorders were communicable. Given some of the comments I see from some Clinton supporters, they may very well be. For a narcissist, it’s never what they’ve said or done, it’s how other people react to it that’s the problem.
I was disturbed by Hillary’s attempt to link seating the Florida and Michigan delegations to Zimbabwe. I wondered whether she was implying that blood would flow in the streets if she didn’t get her way. Yesterday’s comments and non-apology are simply unacceptable. Someone needs to drag this nut case off the stage with a hook before she embarasses herself, her party and her nation any further.

Oh…the Clinton gloss-over is in full swing. The sugar coating goes like this… “She said this … but she really meant this …… She inferred this .. but she really meant this”. Don’t ya love it!?
There has been a fear, quietly murmured around water coolers at work and in private conversations – about the risk of something happening to Obama since he’s the first black man to have a legitimate chance to be President. Well – thanks for bringing it to the headlines Hillary. Are you obsessed about the demise of Barack? – apparenty so.. this is not the first time you’ve mentioned this sick scenario.
So malignant and power hungry the Clinton’s are that such things could possibly be inferred by them – even in the most remote sense.
Mistake or not, exhausted or not, gaffe or not, didn’t mean it or not – NEVER – repeat – NEVER – say “assasination”. This is not Politics 101 -
it’s simply Humanity 101.

Clinton called talk of her taking the VP slot as an “ongoing effort to end this before it’s over”
And what was it when she talked of offering Obama the VP slot earlier in the campaign?
Hillary Clinton, vampire candidate

For all those Clinton supporters that think this is Obama and the press trying to slander her:
Any rational person can view the full clip and see it is exactly as reported: she is hoping something bad will happen to Barack. That is the only possible way she could become the candidate.
Any hope she had of becoming VP is gone…we now know she will be hoping for his death.
The “excuse” that she is tired and mis-spoke is simply inexcusable in this position. I would hate to see this woman answer the phone at 3am.
She has been forgiven for way too many of these ‘oops” comments. It proves her incompetence. It is the reason Obama is winning. Everyone except the die-hard Hillary supporters see her as treacherous. They don’t just don’t trust her. It has nothing to do with her being a woman…but being the deceitful woman she has proven herself to be.
But I know I am preaching to the choir. Hillary supporters are proven to be illogical, seemingly driven by some deep emotional or psychological issue…some weird hatred…the rest of us cannot comprehend.
I just fear for the direction of the nation. McCain cannot be president. We are at a breaking point.

For the Hillary supporters who think this is just Hillary mentioning a time in History, it is much more than that. Hillary was asked why she was staying in the race. She said Bill Clinton didn’t wrap it up until June. She could have said that RFK was still campaiging in June of 1968 or she could have used another reference. She said remember he was assassinated in June as her reason for staying in. Either she is staying in hoping Obama is assassinated or she is planning something herself. The suggestion was cold, unfeeling and thoughtless no matter what she meant when she said it. I am an Obama supporter but I don’t defend everything he says or does. I call him out when he is wrong. Saying Hillary was wrong doesn’t mean you don’t support her just means you know right from wrong. This was so wrong and no amount of spin can make it sound right.

My feelings about Hillary: She’s dangerous if she’s off Obama’s ticket and she’s dangerous if she’s on Obama’s ticket. Actually, she does not want second place under any circumstances! SHE DESERVES to be president because she wanted to be president come January 09, pure and simple. If she can’t have it, she can’t live with herself. I’m pretty sure her “cheerleader” husband keeps her psyched up all the time so that she does not become mentally lucid about how far out on the limb she already is. Only God can help us now, so pray!

I am so glad that she said it! Now can we get on with the Presidential race?
