I don’t know, how uneducated Hillary supporters (as she say about her supporters) can understand the real meaning of the issues. But she will sink for sure.

I don’t think many people understand the issue. It’s irrelevant who is pandering to whom for whatever political reason–they’re politicians not saints. The issue is that a gas tax=no change in price at pump (ok, maybe 2-3 cents less per gallon, but that’s like $.36 MAX savings on a full tank and if $.36 is a big deal, maybe you should just beg on the streets?) Do some learnin’ about “tax incidence”. Oil companies will block any “corporate profit tax” from being passed in Congress since they have fancy accountants, lawyers and lobbyists. Then we’ll have a budget shortfall and guess what? Higher future taxes and/or cuts in programs. So it’s a bad idea PERIOD.

Bush tried to push religion over science. Hillary is trying to push politics over economic success. What I haven’t seen covered is if the oil company’s have to pay a windfall tax, all of us who have mutual funds and 401ks will lose more than $20.

I like how ABC News fails to look at Illinois. The Gas tax holiday failed miserably here. They should be reporting on that.

It is ironic that some people here are not worried about the present. i am a middle class working man who if someone wanted to give me a 5 cent break on gas i would jump all over it. you talk about elitist. obama doesnt have a clue about the average working man in this country. maybe im just bitter, but this snob will never get my vote. Maybe the educated middleclass for obama have alot more money than i do. educated, what a joke.

Economists come from all sorts of family backgrounds and specialize in economics for a variety of groups, not just big business. If none of them are stepping forward to endorse the idea of dropping the gas tax for the summer, there must be a good reason. The democrats and republicans in Congress don’t support this idea. Why? Because if they pass it, they know things will get worse and they will have trouble in the fall getting re-elected. So why is Hillary and John supporting it? It sounds good to the voters and yet there will be no consequence because they know it will not pass. Finally, if this was really a good idea and they really were leaders that can get things done, why are they not trying to get Congress to vote for it? Because they are busy telling people what they want to hear and have no real interest in getting this passed.
