Obama Bids ‘Sunshine’ Good Bye, Vows to Return
ABC News’ Tahman Bradley reports: Before a packed stadium on a rainy afternoon in Sunrise, Fla., Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., voiced pleasure with his first visit to the state in six months. "We’ve had a great three days campaigning here in Florida. But I regret that we couldn’t campaign here earlier. But I promise you we’re going to make up for some lost time," said the presidential hopeful, who initially referred several times to Sunrise as Sunshine.
Obama spoke for about a half hour, serving up a compilation of his greatest hits. No mention of the assassination apology made by his Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. In fact, Obama praised Clinton for running "a magnificant campaign."
With lawsuits hanging in the balance and uncertainty about how the Democratic National Committee will resolve the situation with Florida’s delegates, Obama promised residents their voices will be heard. "Rest assured, when we meet in Denver for the Democratic convention in August, Florida Democrats will be seated, your voice will be heard, and, most importantly, we will work together to make sure Florida goes Democratic in November."
The cheering BankAtlantic Center crowd heard Obama’s familiar themes about change and hope. He tied Republican presidential nominee-to-be John McCain of Arizona to President Bush on the economy, arguing that the senator is out of touch with the average working-class, American family.
"John McCain looked at George Bush’s economic record, and he concluded that we have been making great process," Obama said. "Clearly, John McCain isn’t talking to the 260,000 people who’ve lost their jobs at the beginning of the year. He must not be talking to folks who can’t even go out on a job search because they can’t fill up their gas tank …
"I don’t see great progress. You don’t see great progress, and that’s why we’re not going to let John McCain make any more progress to the White House."
On foreign policy, one last word, for now, in the debate over engagement with U.S. enemies.
"John McCain, he’s been spending his entire week describing his foreign policy, which basically says ‘here are the people I won’t talk to, the diplomacy I won’t engage in.’ That’s not change. That’s George Bush. That’s Dick Cheney."

He is only a speech and hot air, empty promise, and lies.
He wants to rule the world. He thinks he is God.

Senator Obama tells the truth and he is criticized, Hitlery feeds you lies and B.S. so she and the Billy-goat may have another co-presidency, and you swoon like a bunch of goofy teenage girls. Get a life you idiots, and DO VOTE FOR OBAMA!

Amy @ 8:09 PM, if you read closely, the article says that Obama *didn’t* mention RFK. In fact, he praised Clinton’s campaign, as he often has.
The key to your second paragraph is the word “camp,” rather than “campaign.” This indicates you may know more than you let on, since of course the Obama campaign did nothing of the sort. (In fact, I know for a fact that there was a top-down memo telling campaign workers in no uncertain terms not to fan the flames of the racial controversy that was brewing over President Clinton’s remarks.)
You can, of course, decide not to vote for Obama and you can convince five friends, etc. But for your freinds’ sake, and ours, please do it honestly.

The GOP has such little faith in America that they can only feel patriotic by categorically denouncing all people that are critical of it, regardless of intent or context. They use this amputated, insecurity to judge Obama’s patriotism, a man who gave up several high paying jobs after graduating Magna-Cu*-Laude to fight for basic rights of blue-collar folks, black AND white. This view undercuts the basic premise of free will and self-determination that runs through the Constitution.
Obama own 12 year elected record clearly shows who he is –
** 800+ bills from 8 years in the Illinois senate. Barrack is the ONLY candidate to pass Healthcare reform.

**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more.
** Honest Leadership and Open Govt. Act (became law)
** Sponsorship with John McCain (R-AZ) of a climate change bill to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two-thirds by 2050

The BHO camp is pathetic. On a situation, they could have easily show a better side of human nature, to take a high ground and to show some compassion, before Memorial Day. They could easily said – no big deal and let it go. This would probably have had won back 5% of HRC supporters, which would be a very good start. Now you further alienated 5% of HRC supporters, and reaffirmed those who will not vote for this phony in the general election.
In their typical style, they make character assassination.
RFK stayed in a democratic primary without gaining nomination in June when he was assessinated, later than May (at the same time, HRC has been called or declared to quit or out of race since Iowa).
Which part is incorrect, and which part in not factual?
Why you guys cannot take a high road?
It is BHO who preaches ‘New Kind of Politics”, “Hope”, “Change”. Do you call this kind of character assassination by BHO camp “Hope” and “Change”?

Anyone who watched her interview can see she was listing different campaigns that went into June.
Bobby Kennedy was campaigning hard for the nomination and won California in June.
Ted Kennedy took his campaign to the convention, down 700 delegates, looking to change minds. Given the chump Carter is, and the shellacking the nation gave the Dems with him, same as they’ll get with Obama, they should have changed their minds.
Obama was channelling Carter’s idiotic wear a sweater and turn the heat down just the other day, because other countries won’t think it’s ok, and other major league loser comments like that from Obama.
And Hart took Mondale into June and to the convention. And Bill Clinton didn’t wrap it up until California, again in June. And there was no talking heads and Obama thugs trying to force people out of those races.
So up till now I’ve been saying I’ll write in Hillary to protest without giving the Repub’s an edge, but screw you Obama people. I’m voting for McCain now, and so will millions of other Hillary suppporters. I can’t stand you or your fairy godfather Obama and his Marxist associations.

Hillary Clinton did not say a word derogatory toward RFK. She was referring to the time frame. Simple as that.

Senator Hillary knows exactly what she was saying, what is in a person heart will surface, you have to ponder on a thought inorder to say it out loud, the heart is very wicked, people often say you can’t trust noone, you have to first trust yourself. The truth like never before is coming forth, that is why former President Bill Clinton wants so badly to put his wife on on the V.P. Ticket, they like many think Senator Obama will get assinated. It has been discussed just like race in the world it exist and it will alway be there.
Senator Hillary spoke what was in her heart. Come on America be real with yourself, come out of the group mind set and think for yourself.
America need much prayer, the world need much prayer.
I think about how the voting has been split between set or groups; white, black, asian, Jews, religious, hispanic, white collars, blue collars, men, women, young, old, etc.., Look at an individual vote, if you are old enough to vote and legal to vote just vote, 1 vote count as 1 single count.
The only difference is the party republic or democratic that is the only difference.
Also all we need to pray is for the best candidate to do what is right for the country and on their policies. 1 man or woman does not rule the world by themselves they are not God.Come on people can’t we reason together -seek wisdom and understand from on high; When Our Lord and Savior returns to set up his Kingdom then we will have a 1 world government, we as people will never be as one, there is to many who wants to be head in leadership and not enough to lead.
Jesus Will Descend To Jerusalem To Set Up His Earthly Kingdom.Revelation 20:4-6 (NIV) I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
We need to support the one who will get the nominee stop tearing one another down.
I read that state and church did not mix, why is politics and church being a big issue this election. The importance of faith/belief statements:
We feel that every denomination, para-church organization, religious group, and religious web site should consider creating a statement of belief or faith and displaying it prominently.

Psalms 68:29 (NIV) Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring you gifts.
Isaiah 18:7 (NIV) At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers– the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty.
Isaiah 24:23 (NIV) The moon will be abashed, the sun ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously.
Daniel 7:13-14 (NIV) “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

A fountain will flow out of the Lord’s house and will water the valley of acacias. 19 But Egypt will be desolate, Edom a desert waste, because of violence done to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood. 20 Judah will be inhabited forever and Jerusalem through all generations. 21 Their bloodguilt, which I have not pardoned, I will pardon.’ The LORD dwells in Zion!
Zechariah 14:8-11 (NIV) On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter. 9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name. 10 The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up and remain in its place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses. 11 It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

Revelation 19:15a (NIV) Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”

Shown above is a series of aerial photographs (approved by the IDF) of Jerusalem, from the perspective of coming from the East while looking West; the perspective that Jesus will have when He returns.
In the last photograph, note that the Golden Gate, or Eastern Gate in the right foreground wall is bricked in. This was bricked in by Suleiman the Magnificent, reportedly to keep the Messiah from entering through it.
Also note that the Golden Gate is off-center from the Dome of the Rock. Many historians and artist’s depictions reflect that the entrance to Herod’s Temple was directly behind the Golden Gate. Today there exists enough room on the Temple Mount for the Third Temple.

The scary thing is, democrats are sitting in the classroom like a bunch of starry eyed 5th graders eating it up. Obama wowed Jewish voters at the Florida synagoge:
“Don’t judge me because I have a funny name. Don’t judge me because I am an African American. People are concerned about memories of the past. … That is exactly what I am fighting in the African American community when I hear anti-Semitic statements. We are bigger than that.”
Seems he is also doing pretty well in FL with women, senior citizens, Cuban Americans…..

“Nobo”-what are you talking about??? Obama didn’t mention the anti-American, inhumane remarks Hillary made about ASSASSINATION today. I actually can’t believe that he let it go so easily. He could SLAM her on this, it is really really bad, and it’s over for Hillary. She has no one to blame but herself, on so many levels.
Obama will win. The “FL argument” is not an argument-it’s simple rules, and fairness. Even if we seat FL (against the rules), Hillary is out. It’s really true, folks, it’s over.
Obama will win the presidency as well, although it seems clear that 20-something % of the dems will work against that. He will win because he is reaching out to more people and really we are in a historic moment where the democratic party is being redefined.
It’s a fascinating time in our country, even though it is crazy and frustrating, I’m glad to be alive in this age to witness the transformation of our country. And it’s ugly to see the underbelly of our hatred, ignorance, irrationality…but ultimately it had to happen and will take us to the next step of growth.

While I respect the passion of the opinions posted, I am amazed at the misuse of FACTS in many of these posts starting with the subject of the article. Due to Clinton’s indelicate reference to Senator Kennedy, most have overlooked the obvious – that CA held its primary in June of 1968. THAT is why the nomination was not settled: THE CA PRIMARY WAS HELD IN JUNE. In 2008, the primaries/caucuses that could significantly alter the outcome have been held and Obama has an insurmountable lead. Hillary is comparing apples to oranges and her supporters are blindly swallowing her latest argument.
Hillary has repeatedly stated (correctly) that the race is about delegates (as opposed to popular vote), agreed to the DNC penalty of not seating the MI and FL delegations, has stated that MI “does not matter”. And in the delegate race, she expected to have enough pledged delegates after Super Tuesday that she did not plan for her campaign to go beyond there. SHE PLANNED to not hear the voices of all states, territories, etc after that as happens in nearly every nomination process.
Obama’s argument against seating the FL and MI delegates as voted holds much more water than Clinton’s “seat as voted” – a quick look at polls from 6 months ago will show that she was ahead due to name recognition and the success of Bill’s Presidency. The fact is that he closed the gap or overtook her in EVERY state campaigned in. And there is the FACT of the DNC sanction – which, btw, Harold Ickes played a prominent role in determining.
In WV, about 25% of the Republicans did NOT for McCain, choosing instead to vote for Huckabee or Paul. No one is claiming that those voters are “disenfranchised” or that Huckabee should reenter the race until all contests have played out.
SC did NOT move up the Democratic Primary – the Republican primary was moved from January 29 to Jan 19. No need for any penalty there.
There many subjective reasons to support any candidate – the above post requiring military service is a good example. Those preferences are fine and passionate involvement in the process is great, but there is no reason to distort or ignore facts.

Has Hillary ever been in the military? You speaks like a thirteen years old. Please take your presupposition and your entailments out of your argument. Try it next time after Hillary retired from her presidency. BO is so out of touch that he won’t pass the tests of general election even if he can steal the nomination.
A nomination system that can accept 4 points win in primary distorted to 12 points loss in caucus, and a 6 points win in primary distorted to 37 points should only be republican. Great! We have a democratic party changes to republicans. BO makes a mockery of democratic processes. The American ancestors fought so hard for the democracy of this country, the college kids see nothing wrong of it being spitted on. Please examine their heads before letting them graduate. McCain: The people of Florida came through for us again. To me, election 08 was a match between the sane and the fanatics. The result is not obvious until the sane of Florids beat the saint of the fanatics.

First, let’s all try to get along. If we look at this problem fairly, we have to admit that Florida is to blame for the voting debacle. Florida Democrats had been told by the DNC that their delegate wouldn’t be seated, if they moved their election date up. The voters should have been informed that their votes wouldn’t count. So, why did they vote. Did they feel that they could bully the DNC?
The candidates have exploited the debacle. Let’s be truthful here, would Hillary care if the votes were counted or not if she hadn’t won Florida? Would her people offer to fund a new election. If Obama would have won Florida, perhaps, he would be doing the same thing as Clinton. I think they are both more concerned about a strategy for winning, and not the voters.
The bickering needs to stop, and a compromise is needed, now. Someone with the wisdom of King Solomon need to settle this problem. Florida should be seated, but also should be punished. Most rules are in place for a reason. There are proper channels for changing rules. However, breaking the rules is not the answer. Discounting Florida’s delegates is probably the best solution. This type of penalty would work similar to the one commonly used in High School, where a late assignment loses 11 points off the score. Losing the 11 points off the top of your score, removes the possibility of receiving an “A”, even if you get a perfect score. A score of 100 would become an 89, because of the 11 point penalty. The DNC, probably should discount Florida’s delegates by 25% or 50%. This would allow every delegate to be seated, but their votes would be worth less than the votes of delegates who did follow the rules. I feel being seated at level 75% or 50% if fair. Guam’s delegates are worth 50 percent, and although they are not a state, they did follow the rules. So even if Florida’s delegates are reduced to the level of a non-state, at least they get seated. However, the 75% discounted delegate may seem more fair to Florida voters, since they are a state. I think most people could be convinced that a compromise of this nature is fair. As long as the Politicians stop fanning the flames.
The ironic part of this entire Florida debacle is that if the Florida had just waited their turn, their votes would have be just as crucial as Iowa and New Hampshire’s.

Great point Lai, lets all get along and be fair. HRC just messed up and Florida and Michigan’s statesmen/women are to blame for moving up their primary before Super Tuesday. No HRC is trying to sell people a bill of goods like the popular vote. This is a delegate race, not based on popular votes.

John lai
New Hampshire got the permission of the DNC to move up their primary. Where have you been.
DNC informed Michigan and Florida months before their scheduled primary that if they went ahead and ignored DNC rules, sanctions would be imposed.
There would be mass chaos if each state was allowed to do as they please.
Some sort of Sanctions must be imposed.
Florida voters must engage more in the political process so they are not caught off guard again.

The voters have spoke in Florida and they spoke for Hillary. Obama does not like voters that do not vote for him. If he did he would make sure Hillary’s votes are counted. Does Obama think these voters are bitter, too?

“I served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and I refuse to vote for a man who never served in the Military.” I HOPE YOU DIDN’T VOTE FOR BUSH/CHENEY.
NOBO: You are consistently incorrect about events. Research before posting. The Obama campaign let the comment go with amazing grace.
You ask what was not factual about Hil’s statements:
-1 Bill Clinton’s nomination was wrapped up in MARCH, not June
-2 The year RFK was running, the primary started much later than ours, with an entirely different system, fewer states voting, and he was in the race for less than 2 months when he was assassinated.
The horrible part of what she said wasn’t the gaffe of using the word “assassination,” which is stupid but not surprising or shocking…
The horrible thing is that she is, YET AGAIN, LYING & MISREPRESENTING THE FACTS.
Also not surprising, really…But that’s what makes her unelectable-few people trust her, half of the democrats don’t trust her, and NONE of the republicans trust her.
My loyalty toward the Clintons is wearing very very thin. When you lose, you lose.
If I ever have a daughter, I hope she can run a race with more grace, power, and dignity than this. And I mean a foot race.

To those in Florida that were complaining that Obama didn’t care about you… here is an important note:
Florida’s elections were held too early. He was not even on the ballot so you couldn’t vote for him. He doesn’t hate you or disrespect you… your election was held before a date it was going to be recognized.
As a former Illinois resident, I can assure you I was more than happy with Obama’s performance. He IS an honest man. He has been upfront about everything.
Yes he has Muslim background and he has Christian background. He has black and white parents. Who else could understand so many diverse backgrounds? I believe he will bring our country together so it can live up to its full potential once again.
My grandpa, an old-school Christian middle class white American and a veteran of World War II, would ABSOLUTELY vote for Obama.
