Obama to B-Ball Opponent, ‘He Keeps Coming Back, He’s Like Hillary’
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: Life imitates art, and sometimes a pickup game can imitate politics.
So was the case when Barack Obama dropped by the family farm of the Avers in Union Mills, Ind., and delivered two apple pies.
After speaking to the family with his sleeves rolled up, the presidential candidate got challenged by Avers family stepson Aaron Villicana to a game of PIG, a shorter version of the game HORSE, on the family’s driveway basketball hoop.
"I’m feeling a little pressure," Obama, D-Ill., said when he hadn’t made a shot after a few tries. Villicana sunk a shot and then Obama retaliated with a swish.
The score was still even.
Back and forth, the 14 year old and senator shot. Villicana got a P and then got an I.
Obama got a P.
Obama almost had the game finished off. He needed one more shot to win, but he couldn’t make one. They shot and shot. Rain started drizzling and the sun started going down.
"This dimming light is a disadvantage," said Obama, referencing his age and making an excuse of sorts.
"I better end it right here," Obama said, before taking a jump shot that hit the rim without going in. "Oh that’s off. I’ve lost. I’ve lost it."
The players exchanged more shots and no one made a single one.
"I think we’re gonna have to end this one," Obama said again.
Again the candidate did not sink the shot. The score still remained the same.
"He’s tough. He keeps on coming back," Obama commented. Then, referencing parallels to his long struggle on and off the court, Obama quipped, "He’s like Hillary."
With that, Obama shot a jump shot and sank the winning basket. (Villicana ultimately missed his shot, putting an end to the game.)
Final Score: Obama: P, Villicana PIG.
And with that, the presidential candidate loaded back on his bus. He had another ongoing game to attend to.

The media have failed to focus and make it their center piece of discussion, the fight that is going on with the Democratic Party as a whole. You have the Moderates (Clinton) versus the Liberals (Obama) wing of the Democratic party. Hillary, as I see it, is only a Democrat by the letter (D) after her name and the irony is that she is being aided and abated by the Republicans. Rush Limbaugh would like a 1968 “riot” at the Democratic Convention this August. He may just get one, if Clinton keeps it up. The Clinton campaign hasn’t had to go negative, as the recent Republican ad in North Carolina targeting Democrats’ association with Obama and Rev Wright, is working most effectively.
It may well be a ‘Bush 3rd term’ with McCain, as the Clinton v. Obama fight will cancel out each other’s electibility. If Obama gets the nomination, I may continue to decide on voting for him but if Hillary gets the nomination, I will make it a point to vote for McCain (aka McSame).

Clinton is as far from republican as anyone could ever be. Her policy positioning is absolutely antithetical to republican dogma. She’s a moderately liberal democrat. She’s not ultra-left, but she’s certainly not conservative democrat.
THERE”S ONLY ONE THING THE REPUBLICANS HAVE IN COMMON WITH MODERATE DEMS: NEITHER TRUSTS, OR WILL EVER VOTE, FOR OBAMA.
Many independents also feel this way.

obama attends a church preaching black liberation theology. rev wright often refers to james H. cone as the theology’s guru. cone defines the theology thus: “black liberation theology refuses to accept a god who is not identified totally with the goals of the black communiity. if god is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. black theology will accept only the love of god which participates in the destruction of the white enemy (A Black Theology of Liberation by James H. Cone ISBN-10: 0883446855, p. 27).”
How dare he subject his children to this hate; how dare he pretent to be a uniter; how dare obama run for office.

I think its rather strange Obama camp was saying the super delegates should not count in the early stages, now all I can her on the media is that the supers are going to Obama and this is what is going to decide this thing.
So why the difference now? SO these supers will say it Obama when all this numbers seem to be dipping, he is even in some places behind McCain, yet they are going to push a candidate that has the least chance of winning a GE.
The DNC is a mad party, I have never seen such utter nonsense in my life, all indication are showing Hillary is the better choice, but all I am hearing from MSM is Obama, that sure has me baffled.

So character is not important — let’s just discuss the issues says Obama. And he spends his day playing basketball and a picnic lunch with “apple pie” with a family to show an image that he is just a “normal” guy. I guess that will work for some folks. They say that advertising works and he has sure spent enough to convince the public that he is “just your average guy”. When we had the Penn primary look at how the MSM were talking for days on Obama catching up to Hillary, it was hot news as to how small a win she was going to get after this big lead she had.
Well what is going on in NC, what is happening to the big lead that Obama once had, am not seeing the MSM asking what is going on there, so are the polls lying now to make Obama look bad, why is the MSM not interested in why he is slipping, or how much he needs to win by?

Why? I think the super delegates are not coming out simply so that democrats can register more voters.
We have seen thru Obama’s losses, missteps and Rev Wright episodes that super delegates could care less.
At this point, I state for the record I doubt the sincerity of the superdelegates desire to give Hillary a chance to win.
They already picked the nominee after super tuesday. Obama has like 90 superdelegates to 15 for Clinton.
This whole thing has been IRRELIVANT .
Obama would have to be in jail before the superdelegates would CARE if hillary wins the popular vote and all the major primaries.
To get all this new voter registration, the people who DONATE to the obama and clinton campaigns are paying for it so they can stump all over the place for nothing.
Morris was right. In the end that is. Clinton lost when the super delegates decided Obama was their nominee after super tuesday. His 150 delegate lead was then the platform for why he MUST be the nominee.
If he didnt have that, it would have been something else.
It really annoys me that they dont just endorse the guy . Until they do, Bill and Hillary will never give up. And why should they? They worked very hard for it and will see it to the end.

Plenty of negative history out there about HRC. the only people that ever presented Obama as perfect, were the ones that wanted to make sure they set him up for a fall. As for Hillary being a ‘moderate’ liberal …
Universal health care is the thing that drags her into this corner. She is farther to the left on the economy than Bill is, but I wouldnt say to the liberal left.
Her other platforms are straight down the middle democrat and she is definitely a conservative democrat when it comes to foreign policy.
For a democrat, she is more hawkish on foreign policy than Bill was.
This is why the Clintons won elections where so many democrats have failed before. They move to the center on many issues.
Posted by: tomdavie | May 1, 2008, 11:25 pm 11:25 pm
The democrat party is a farce and the cause of a big split with denying 2 states and their trying to end the process since the end of January. They are in the tank for a loser that we won’t accept…so if that’s the split, so be it.
This is the most flawed candidate I’ve seen running for President in my lifetime and they expect us to vote for a dem? Not a chance. The leaders have put this party in the toilet…there is a need for a 3rd party. Right in the middle of the two.

* Bill Clinton (1993-2001) is the only Democrat to win reelection since FDR (1932-1944)
* Republicans are 0 and 7 against the Clintons. (1982-present)
Please support Hillary Clinton for President.

Obama 08 . No one individual is bigger than the party and country; and the Democrats will rally around Barack.
After all he won it fair and square.

It is interesting that Mr. Obama condemned Rev. Wright (after getting his spiritual guidance, inspiration, etc. for 20 years) now, even though Rev. Wright did not say anything any more controversial than before. Why is that?
Among the things Rev. Wright said were two facts:
1) Mr. Obama is a politician
2) He had blessed Mr. Obama and his family just before he announced his candidacy in the same premises (a location different from the hall where announcement was made). All this while, Mr. Obama’s campaign maintained that Rev. Wright was dis-invited for the announcement.
How dare Rev. Wright say anything to expose the lies of Mr. Obama. That is what got Mr. Obama greatly upset to throw Rev. Wright under the bus in full speed. Rev. wright is not the problem. Mr. Obama is.
This man is insincere, says different things to different people, and may do more damage to the health of this nation (may be not as much as Mr. Bush). People elected Mr. Bush two times. I would not be surprised if people will elect Mr. Obama. We seem to pick the wrong ones more often than not.

As a republican, it’s normal that Hillary went to O Reilly. Next step for her:
1) go to InsHannity and Colmes to speak real issues like…Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers
2) Register Republican
3) Going on Mc Cain to steel him the Republican nomination, saying he is not electable on november.
4) Fight Obama on November

ELECTABILITY IS THE KEY ISSUE.
WHO’S ELECTABLE IN NOVEMBER.
MONDALE,DUKAKIS,GORE,KERRY.ALL GOT THE
NOMINATION BUT LOST TO REPUBLICANS.
IF DEAN AND PELOSI WANT BACK THE WHITE HOUSE,THEY BETTER LOOK ,WHO’S THE STRONGEST CANDIDATE TO BEAT McCAIN.
OBAMA LOST THE BIGGEST MOST IMPORTANT
STATES IN THE UNION.
HE IS UNELECTABLE IN NOVEMBER.
HIS TIES WITH ANTI-AMERICAN PASTOR AND OTHERS MAKES HIM UNELECTABLE.
AMERICANS VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE IN NOVEMBER WITH CERTAIN VALUES.
OBAMA DOESN’T HAVE THOSE CERTAIN VALUES.
REMEMBER ME IN NOVEMBER………

SJ,
I haven’t had much spare time the last few days, but I’m glad to see you are out her and continuing to drum on those Obama zombies. It truthfully is the only way to deal with them. Now that Obama is sinking, though, where are the likes of BKMC, Jackt51, Vanessa, and Lauren. It looks like they were all fair weather fans. They have to be totally embarassed by now. At any rate, keep up the great work!

Admit it, Obama is a lousy bowler!

Let’s settle the Presidency

It’s not about the elites, Wright or Obama. It’s about Bill Clinton disgracing the party, the white house and our country. Our politicians do not want the Clintons back in the white house….period. Look what they did with it. So that is why they are backing Obama.

He doesn’t have a big rally with full of college students anymore instead he has set a small meeting with old ladies ages 70′s and 80′s.
He threw his young supporters under the bus and got his grandma back.

hopefully the supers will wake up and smell the coffee…….obama is not electable and cannot win the big states. even the defection of the super to the obama camp is just an indication that this guy wants a cabinet appointment and a job in the future. he will be the only one with a job……obama has turned his back on the blue collar people with the elitism, the rev wright, and the stuttering and stammering when under pressure. did anyone see hillary’s admirable, tough, and in-your-face way she handled bill o’reilley? i would like to see obama accept oreilly invitation to an interview and see how eloquent he is then….

There is so much hatred here. Wright is right. Hatred still lives in our hearts. It is not a time to unite but to divide and eat each others eyes. Way to go, friends! This blog drips blood… Not many Christians…that is for sure.

The reason Obama didnt want this Rev Wright thing to blow up was that it exposes how is trying to blur the line without crossing it for either the core democratic african american vote and whites that think Obama is something different… I think hes alienating both… just in bball terms in NC about half of the people here get enraged at seeing the UNC basketball players practise with the elite Roy Williams and Obama playing and sittign on the bench thats just not the right image since UNC lost in the national semifinals :)

Rev. Wright is not an Obama “association” is his spiritual guide, his mentor for twenty years. The charade about Obama being offended and in shock of Wright’s words is unbelievable He just repeated the same words he has speak for more than twenty years and Obama always agreed with him until he saw the damage in the polls. He is still out of touch with blue-collar workers and also he is still unelectable.

I agree with you did you see the story about Obama talking about seeing Airforce One said it looked “all spiffy” in 1992 they just got the new 747 version of Air Force One and I recall President HW Bush showing it off to the press using basically the same description! If that doesnt say elitist country club I dont know what does! THe Wright dance around the Press Club Podium was planned to try to help BO gain traction but it backfired it just tied him to Wright more than ever!

I agree with Mariann. There is a culture war going on within the Democratic party — moderates versus liberals. Despite the cries of terror from party leaders, I for one, hope this battle DOES tear the Democratic party apart. Let the liberals be Democrats and let we moderates like Clinton and Lieberman start our own party. It’s long overdue.

Quote: “Let the liberals be Democrats and let we moderates like Clinton and Lieberman start our own party. It’s long overdue.”
Yes, please take Clinton, Lieberman, and all the other stealth Neocons and get out of the Democratic party. It’s plain for all to see that Clinton and McCain are allied against Barack Obama because they are two sides of the same old-politics coin. Go! Now!

ABSOLUTELY NOT! The real democrats will save our party by voting for Hillary then we will create a party for the extreme left that will no longer be invited to be a part of the Deomcrats….Pres. Lincoln once said “We shall first disintrall ourselves then, we will save our country!”

Hilary is a Republican. She knows how to play hard ball.
She got Obama lost in a street fight. Its time to move beyond the negativity and come down to reality.
Do we want Bill behind the oral office?
Why?

He works for Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP , a 700 member law firm. They gave over $75K to Obama.

Mr. Obama has explained quite candidly the complexity of the Rev. Wright circumstances for all of us with “learning disabilities” to understand in his speech outside of Philadelphia. This speech was praised as the best speech since the days of Lincoln. March 18, 2008 – “I can no more disown him (Jeremiah Wright) than I can disown my white grandmother.” — Barack Obama, Philadelphia,
However in North Carolina, Obama explained that he now had to renounce the man, not just his words. He said his comments were “shockingly divisive and destructive”. But Rev. Wright’s comments were not new. We all heard then over two months ago. Had Rev. Wright’s philosophy and views in life suddenly, out of the blue, just changed?
Mr. Obama has adjusted his stories (lack of candidness and truthfulness) on this topic too many times to believe. Senator Obama stated publically that he never heard Reverend Wright make any controversial statements. Then he later stated that he did hear some over the years he’s been in church. Which is true and which is false? The truth is that Mr. Obama has just realized that the American public now realizes that Rev. Wright sells racial hatred and therefore Obama’s judgment is now in question. So the new message is now abandonment not because Rev. Wright said disgusting and degrading things about America and the white population, but because it clearly now shows a lack of sound judgment for a very LONG TIME on Mr. Obama’s part. End of subject. No more discussion, let’s stick to the issues which of course is no more CHARACTER talk.

Yup – the old gal Hillary is tough all right. Look at the way she ran through the sniper fire !
If she’s so tough, why does she keep whining that the media isn’t fair to her and always having to get the first question at a debate. More importantly, when asked a tough question about Mark Penn’s support for NAFTA,did she say “How many angels dance on the head of a pin ?” If Obama had said he had run through sniper fire and made the angels comment, he would have been out of the race.
Interesting how supporters of Mrs. Clinton never ever have answers as the serious flaws of their wounded candidate

As a Democrat, I am offended by all the name-calling and just plain nonsense being posted in response to valid issues. This goes for supporters of BOTH parties.
It would be so much easier to debate if emotion were kept out of the debate and FACTS were used to support one’s position.
Please reconsider before posting. If you truly believe one candidate is qualified over the other – why not try building up your candidates’ worth instead of trying to tear down the other one.
Thanks.

For all the talk the Obama people have about unity and hope and rainbows of love; its pathetic that they keep discriminating McCain over his age. Its actually disgusting and proves just how elitist and out of touch they are. We rever and honor our elders and MCain; as much as I disagree w/ his politics he is still a decorated war hero and a sitting US senator and Obama people ridicule him b/c of his age…pathetic and not hopeful

How anyone would consider Hillary, with her dishonest, manipulative, muckraking ways vs. a decent, intelligent, presidential candidate like Mr. Obama?. Hasn’t American learned from the mistake electing a clearly unsuitable person to the presidency the past eight years??
If we make the same mistake again, we will pay dearly, as ususal.

Obama works best when he gets the right frame of mind.
A few months ago he was asked if he wanted to take a 3 pointer while touring a school gymnasium. As he was accepting the basketball, the guy handing it to him told him, “this is for the presidency.” He made a perfect shot.
Now he remarked that the basketball is like Hillary and keeps bouncing back, then he made a perfect shot.
lol.
Go Obama!

Hillary and McCain supported a “War for oil”, sponsored with over $10bn American taxpayers’ money, which has cost 4,000 American lives, 10,000 Iraqi lives yet a gallon of fuel is getting closer to $4. I think Hillary and McCain should bow their heads in shame, instead of running for president.

The GOP is openly campaining for Hillary and doing everything possible to help her win the nomination over Obama. My question is, “Why would the GOP want to run against Hillary, if she is the stronger candidate to beat in the general”? “Why not Obama, if he is the weaker candidate”?
The GOP is being smart.
Posted by: Kofi T. H.T. | May 3, 2008, 5:01 am 5:01 am
I’ll tell you why because McCain has baggage that’s yet to be revealed. He’s not the perfect candidate and everyone knows it. Only Hillary Clinton will be able to rally the cause, they think. They are going to turn on her like snakes as soon as she steals the nomination from Obama. By the way, you know it will take thievery to steal the election. She doesn’t have the most states, the most delegates or the most popular votes, only outright thievery will get her the election. You reap what you sow.
