Father Pfleger Bashed Clintons…Again
Apparently last Sunday, Father Michael Pfleger — the fiery liberal activist and longtime friend and associate of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois — gave another sermon mentioning the Clintons disparagingly, in addition to the one he gave at Obama’s (now former) church.
At his own church, St. Sabina’s, Pfleger said, "Hillary and McCain would wish they had a preacher with the integrity of Jeremiah Wright. … They got some old weak preacher…some old Joel Osteen cotton candy preacher."
Listen to it HERE. The comments come at about 15:40 into the sermon.
On March 2, Bill and Chelsea Clinton went to Joel Osteen’s church in Houston.
That’s not cool? Something wrong with Osteen?

Hey Obama, these are some impressive people you’ve chosen to surround yourself with for 20 years. Glad you put this guy up on a pedestal so many times. Glad you gave an earmark of $200,000 to his church of haters, to keep it going. Glad you flew him to one of your events to further legitimize him.
Glad he’s going to be just one of the things that costs you the presidency.
Glad, glad, glad.

Seriously? I don’t even care about what the quality of his friends says about Obama’s character anymore– that’s well-documented. I just can’t fathom how anybody who wants to be the President of the United States could be so overwhelmingly stupid. Picking good friends is something I was taught when i was like five or six. What a dummy.

Why is this news?

This just proves that Obama is lying when he says he knew nothing about Jeremiah Wright’s hateful sermons. Father Pfleger and Wright are both KNOWN (especially in the Chicago community Barack has long been a part of) to give these kinds of sermons ALL THE TIME. They’re known to be very controversial, political and racist. And yet Obama continued to place these two sickos into elevated positions by going to Trinity and by putting both these guys on some advisory capacity on his campaign.
Oprah left Trinity years ago. The question is, why didn’t Obama?

I like Joel Osteen. But this isn’t news.
Posted by: Vanessa | June 1, 2008, 12:23 pm 12:23 pm
The only reason Obama quit the church after Pfleger’s ravings is it finally was getting in the way of his general election chances, as he arrogantly continues to assume he is the Dem. nominee. He had 20 years to disassociate with these kind of crazy, hateful people, and he waited until now when they risk taking away what he feels he is entitled to. He only does things when it affects him directly, like the staged press conference scolding Rev. Wright. Where is Wright by the way, laying low til Obama gets elected as planned? He probably will still see and talk to his crazy friends (Ayres, Rezko, Pfleger, Wright, etc.) but will do so privately. What a hypocrite he is. He can quit as many things as he wants now, anyone with their eyes open can see what he really stands for, and it isn’t the average American. Hillary or McCain 08.

Jake,
Are you going to put what this priest has said in his own church on Good Morning America to try and hurt Obama.
I think that that would be a SHAME. Obama is NOT responsible for EVERYTHING that anybody he has ever known says ANYWHERE.
Obama is responsible for HIS OWN WORDS. Also, he is responsible for who is on his campaign and if that person says something that is NOT reflective of the campaign than that person should be GONE as in the case of Samantha Powers.
Again this “guilt by association” is getting ridiculous.
Posted by: maritza | June 1, 2008, 12:26 pm 12:26 pm
Pastors/priests are human beings but to hear all of this hate, intolerance and cursing coming from Wright,Moss, and Pfleger is very disturbing.
I don’t see how it projects a positive, loving, accepting feeling to the congregants. Seems like it promotes hostility and hatred
It’s disturbing to hear Obama call Moss and Pfleger wonderful pastors and have Pfleger serve on his Catholics for Obama group.
Obama may win votes for quitting his church, but I don’t trust his judgement for chosing that church and those spiritual advisors. And then not having the courage to walk out until now–now that he wants to be president.
Hillary or McCain 08

One of the most important issues facing American voters is the ECONOMY!
Hillary voters, you would be wise to read and stop watching FOX News!!!
“The endorsement of Obama by a bipartisan group of Joe Kennedy’s successors – Arthur Levitt, David Ruder and William Donaldson – may help him as much in a general election campaign as the one from Edwards. In their statement, the SEC chiefs praised Obama for his support of “balanced regulatory reform.”
“We believe Senator Obama can provide the positive leadership and judgment needed to take us to a stronger and more secure economic future,” the three men said in their statement, which for good measure was also signed by former Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker, who endorsed Obama in January and has been an adviser since then. “

While Osteen is a smuck laughing all the way to the bank with that fake smile of his, I think the pulpit is supposed to be somewhat impartial when it comes to taking sides in a political race. A preacher can however bring up issues that would make it obvious who he or she supports without saying it directly.
Posted by: Ben Straub | June 1, 2008, 12:43 pm 12:43 pm
Well to be honest I think he was talking about the preacher that came on at the Republican fund raiser and had some words about him the other day.
So now we will have a dual between the preachers. So now Obama is responsible for the split in the Catholic Church, and Protestant Church, etc.
Absurd Jake.

It has been Obama running around infecting minds with his mind manipulation.
Leading them on Like Hitler and Jim Jones won over people.
He is the one who spoke out about racism. But It is him and his best friends that incite racism and use it.
He fail to address it, he fail to take a stand against it. He brushed it off as Objectional, and ran to save face so he can get votes.
He Failed the people, once again.
Failed to address it head on, he must be right on in with it.
So, with that in mind, Obama came to Unite. He united the Black community in solidarity, to vote for him. For their hatred of government and white people.
Obama is the biggest Security this church has ever faced.

Why does Father Phleger’s manner of speech and preaching give the impression that his fondest desire when young was to have been born a poor black child, the better to become the black preacher he now tries to imitate?
Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course, unless it’s a symptom of some form of deep-rooted self hatred.

Perhaps because the “hard working white Americans” are too dumb to realize that they are voting against their own self interest and vote based on fears, rumors, and unsustantiated accusations instead of on economic and international policy?
They are led to believe that other candidates are out to get them, that they should be afraid, and that only those claiming to be “champions of the people” will save them.
Need proof? What has Bush, who carried that very demographic twice, done to help them? Nothing!
Bush made the dollar weaker, made our nation weaker internationally, he’s killed the domestic economy, he sent millions of jobs overseas, and he designed an economic policy that caters specifically to big oil and defense contractors, and he’s reduced our international credibilty to nothing.
I hope that answers your question.

GG: I disagree about the importance of race &/0r gender come November. The primacy of religion in US politics is regrettable at best. But, on the issue of energy independence, I’m with you. if Senator Obama can’t stand up to the Democratic sacred cows of domestic oil drilling and nuclear power (combined with a clear vision for a Manhattan style project to develop the technology for sustainable energy independence), he does not deserve to win the election. We are in an economic war for our survival with backward nations who have only the power given them by oil in the ground and our laziness and incompetence. Why do the candidates for national office think that because they back away from something in their history they’re absolved from scrutiny? Aren’t they accountable for the time they spent, or the actions they’ve taken?
It is truly rare to find a candidate from ANY party that will stand up and say “This is who I am and this is what I want to do?”
Am I the only one that notices our candidates alter their position(s) based on who they are standing in front of? HRC is by far the runaway leader using this tactic, with every single major candidate following suit. All of whom run their campaigns based on polling. HRC & Obama both want to overhaul NAFTA in one state, and laud it in the next because it’s been beneficial to the local economy. None of these idiots, including McCain, seem to be able to state their position and stick to it to the bitter end.
I had more respect for Obama when he said he’d stick by Wright. I think he honestly believed it was the right thing to do. I don’t believe for one second that he left two days ago because of philosophical differences. It was for political expediency and nothing else.
Success seems to go to the candidate who can patronize the best.
Telling the truth, good or bad, was the most admirable characteristic I found in Alan Keyes. His believes and positions didn’t change with the wind. During a Republican debate the candidates were asked a question about a politically sensitive topic. I think it was gays in the military. Every single candidate spoke lots of words, but never answered the question. Then it was Amb. Keyes turn. He instantly gave a “no question about it” direct answer. He was opposed to it and wouldn’t allow it during his watch. He knew that answer would make some people unhappy, but he also felt he had to be honest. It’s unfortunate that none of us are willing to elect a candidate that will be honest with us. It is unforgivable that we don’t hold our candidates to a higher standard.

BuddhaKat,
Excellent post…you got that right. I would have more respect for Obambi and his immoral and cowardly, appeasing positions if he would simply stick by his guns.
Obambi is dependent on the bobble-headed lemmings impressed with meaningless cliche’ under the guise of change – bleating sheep that can’t operate without the government’s help.
And if the feckless MSM had a shred of honesty about them, they would not only admit that they are in the tank of the politically correct candidate, but that Obambi has had more gaffes in a month, including being so dumb he didn’t even realize the states adjacent to his home state, than Dan Quayle had in his career.
Obambi is the coward’s, the slacker’s, the elderly hippy’s, and the American hater’s candidate. An empty suit and neo-pagan with a gift for the predilection of the irrelevant.

After 20 years Obama finally leaves the church….he stayed when they preached that AIDS was a government conspiracy….he stayed when America was denounced…he stayed when his opponent was slandered…he stayed when racism was taught…he stayed when the anti-Isreal fliers came out…he stayed when Farrakan was given awards…He stayed when hate was taught and spread
I guess he left for political expediancy…because I don’t know anyone that would have sat in that church for 20 years if they didn’t agree with the dogma. And the dogma is most certaqinly Black Liberation Theology. BLT is an extreme form of radical separatism that has it’s roots in Farrakan’s anti-Isreal and anti-White philosophy.

Obama didn’t disown his Church or Pastor Wright, he just resigned from the Church. All for political reasons and nothing else!

Boy, wading through all this Christian hate, make me wonder “What Would Jesus Say” to those who claim to be His child on Sun. and then spread all this hatred on this and other web sites the rest of the times. White preachers use to (some still do)use the bible to justify slavery, does that mean all white pastors are evil. If you went to some church who had a pastor who preached that whites should only be with white and black with black or asian with asian…ect, is the congregation full of racist or is it just the preacher? We all are sinners and not worthy to gather the crumbs under the Masters table, but thanks be to to His grace and mercy, we can love one another like He loves us and we can choose to let his love shine through us to those who don’t know Him or count His way holy..
God don’t really care who is elected president in these United States, He just want us to live our lives so that His love is reflected from us to the loss and they surender their al and all saying what must I do to be saved.
So tone down all this hate and allow God’s love to become visable through your words and actions…
Preach a sermon everyday…..
Use words only if you have too…

The more profound point about Osteen that was being made…which by the way I’ve heard many conservative evangelicals make as well…is that Osteen tends to preach a very self centered, feel good about yourself, type of Gospel, and tends to downplay the sacrifices of faith and service to others.
So sure Osteen is “cool”…but many serious Biblical scholars would say that he teaches a watered down version of the Gospel…kind of like the often mocked prosperity Gospel…which is that if you follow God, then you get everything you want.
That may be a nice message, but it is not reflected in Biblical scripture.

The list of those Obama has thrown under the bus, in order of occurence: His white grandmother; Jeremiah Wright; Wright’s successor, Pfleger and the racist Trinity United Church that cheered his preacher as clown performance. WLS radio (89 AM) reported on Friday that there are reports of a tape with Michelle Obama using a racial epithet. Obama has thrown what he called “family” under the bus (see above). Rather than throwing Michelle under the bus, he should thrown himself out of the President race.

New comment from last Sunday: Fleger says: “America is the greatest sin to God.”

Senator Obama is still doing his politicial pandering trying to win this election with any means possible. Leaving his church was just another feeble attempt at fooling some people. He will say or do anything to win this election, even buy off the superdelegates with the promise of helping them financiallly in their next election. He is just the most sleazy, corrupt politician still walking the streets and not in jail.

No problem about the double posting, West Texas. Your fulminations about guilt because of the company one keeps goes double for McCains’ association with the criminal Bush cabal, not to mention the GOPs decades long love affair with the hate-driven Religious Right. Maybe an Obama presidency will have the right rethinking this whole separation of Church and State thing.

There will be no Obama presidency.

Wow, you can predict the future. What magic powers you possess. I notice you had nothing to say about the right’s long standing associations with hate-filled preachers. I guess your high standards about guilt by association only apply to the left.

You are what you eat, and Obama has been setting down at the dinner table for years eating all this garbage with his friend’s. i think these jerks actually think they are helping him. it just amazes me what ignorant people they are to get up on national television and carry on like they do. they are some of the well educated supporter’s of Barack Obama’s evidently..

I must go to a really boring church, we talk about like Jesus and stuff, during the homily usually we try to explain a parable to the kids, we like never dump on other people. I wish I could go to a really cool church where we can dis people.

My pastor at a nondenomination evangelical church here in Lone Tree, Colorado eschews politics in his message. All he has ever said about the subject is that politics is not a religion, Jesus is your God and Heaven accepts all – Democrats, Republicans, Socialists, Libertarians – along as they accept that Jesus is the son of God who died for us so that we might have eternal life.

PRESIDENT Thomas Jefferson was a rapist and sired eight black children to prove with his SLAVE Sally Hemmings but I don’t see anyone taking his face off the dollar. What a bunch of hypocrites!

How come no one knew about all the priests raping alter boys in their churches and parishes? Didn’t THEY know what was going on in their congregations.

I am so tired of these ministers playing politics and feeding on hate. As a Catholic, I find it appalling. I attend a traditional Latin mass each week (along with people of various nationalities and races – a very diverse church) and our priest has never mentioned a politician by name. Each election season, however, he guides worshippers into making a voting decision they can live with – based on faith and facts. Without saying whether to vote Republican or Democrat, he urges people to examine their faith and the facts, for example, a true Catholic or Christian can not support a pro-abortion candidate without violating the basis of their faith (while that issue may not be important to some, it is important to many), and to take a similar approach with other issues. This method teaches congregates to take matters into their own hands, educate themselves and make rationale decisions, which is how it should be. Ministers should not instruct people as to who they should vote for and should certainly not make fun of the other candidates. What is our society coming to where this kind of behavior is becoming acceptable??

It’s strange that with all of the years of experience in government that Hillary Clinton has had, including eight years in the White House, she is running neck and neck with this “inexperienced, unknown” person. She should be running away with the nomination which shows that half of the people do not want her. Her husband should just be satisfied with 8 years in the White House as other 2 term Presidents have had to come to grips with. If Obama wins, they will probably leave the country. Good riddance.

This guy is obviously trying to endear himself to the congregation that lost Wright.

Father Pfleger is still at it, he’s preaching politics from the puplit in violation of the IRS code, when is the bishop going to really crack down? As a Catholic priest, he’s a disator.
