Fox News Calls Michelle Obama: ‘Obama’s Baby Mama’
Again. Truly unbelievable.
Fox News Channel identifies Michelle Obama, the completely lawfully-wedded wife of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, as "Obama’s Baby Mama."
Watch the clip HERE.
First spotted by Salon.
That’s just straight-up racist.

Posted by: jmc663 | June 12, 2008, 9:45 am 9:45 am
How insulting it must be Jake.
Now the media only owes Obama 4,532 slanders that they have given all his opponents on his behalf over the last 6 months.
Im sure somewhere Senator and President Clinton are laughing.
Posted by: same old | June 12, 2008, 9:45 am 9:45 am
Um. No.
You are a straight-up apologist for the Obama campaign. Time to pull the plug.
Plenty of married fathers are affectionately called “baby daddies.” It happens every day of the week. There’s nothing indirectly or directly racist about it.
Meanwhile, the coverage of Hillary was fair in your mind.
Truly unbelievable, indeed.
JAKE’S NOTE: No, I never said the coverage of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, was fair. I specifically said: “I don’t disagree with the notion that Clinton received unfair and hostile coverage, some of which was rooted in sexism.” I did say I thought most reporters were fair, but that doesn’t mean those who weren’t didn’t make the coverage overall unbalanced, which is what I’ve long argued.

You can thank Maury Povich and his endless “Who’s My Baby’s Daddy’ shows for elevating that term to mainstream. Sorry, Jake, but you’re out of touch and confused if you think that was racist.

It’s no big deal. I recall Michelle introducing Barack one time during then primaries as “My babies daddy”
The “terrorist fist bump” thing on Fox was the most ridiculous. This Baby Mama thing is nothing.

The fist bump convinced many who thought Obama was too liberal and inexperienced to be president that he would now make the best president ever.
How bad can a president be if he can give such a nifty ‘fist bump’ .

I keep reading articles on what Clinton did wrong. I find that laughable. What happened to Clinton’s campaign was the media and here’s another good example of obamaland reporting. Thanks to the media we now have a democrat running for office who has no experience. Thank you ABC, CNN, NBC and MSNBC. You guys have forgotten what your job is. It is to report the news, not elect presidents. If you had spent as much time investigating Obama as you have defending him, we might have a better picture of who he is. Racist news on Fox? No. Reverse racism on ABC. You bet!
Posted by: Glenda | June 12, 2008, 10:01 am 10:01 am
Not racist at all. Obama and his wife deserve any “jab” they get. Remember, his campaign opened the door on every tactic there is and used it on Hillary Clinton, including racism-he runs on it. The Republicans are going to tear him a new one. What goes around comes around.
Posted by: RL in Illinois | June 12, 2008, 10:03 am 10:03 am
Maybe I am missing something. Is “baby mama” racist? I don’t see it but I do see it as sexist, as it describes a woman as a baby machine as if she is a walking uterus solely. Note, Michelle Obama is a professional woman with a careeer and achievements, independent of her husband. To sum her up in a clip as a “baby mama” ignores that.
I am no fan of Obama or wife, but I don’t like this at all. It is sexist, not racist, however.

The most unbelievable thing I’ve seen from a candidate this election cycle was when Obama gave Hillary “the finger” when dissing her before a young audience after the PA debate.

Calling a married woman someone’s baby’s momma is an insult indeed, whether considered racist or not. But it definitely implies something that is less than adequate to a professional woman who is the wife of a presidential candidate. I think this should be obvious regardless of your political affiliations.

Today’s Polling:
Obama leads McCain among registered voters, 47 to 41 percent, which is outside the poll’s margin of error.
In the head-to-head matchup, Obama leads McCain among African Americans (83-7 percent), Hispanics (62-28), women (52-33), Catholics (47-40), independents (41-36) and even blue-collar workers (47-42). Obama is also ahead among those who said they voted for Clinton in the Democratic primaries (61-19).
McCain gets White men by 20%(55-35) and White suburban women by 6%(44-38).

They say the right thing, they just can’t do the right thing. The reporter says being critical of Michelle Obama is OK as long as they stick to discussing what she said, all the while the words “Obama’s baby mama” are on the television screen underneath the report. What idiots. They contractict their own reporters statements by putting these words on the screen. They don’t know how to just stick to the facts, that is evident from this news clip. Pathetic!

“Baby mama” is a euphemism that is common in the Black community, particularly the urban working class Black community. It refers to a woman or girl who has mothered a child with a man or boy to whom she is not married. On the respect front, it can run the gammit from dispectful to neutral, depending on the context (“future baby mama/daddy” is generally taken to be complimentary). I agree with an earlier poster who described it as sexist, as it does amp up the baby-making machine aspect, and ignores the fact that Michelle and Obama are married to each other. The racist aspect comes into play with Fox’s continual need to emphasize Obama’s color (in what they consider coyishly funny, clever ways), as opposed to his policies. This will continue on this network and other outlets from now till election day.

If you changed the word racist to sexist, then I would agree with the article. Under different circumstances, Paual Jones or Gennifer Flowers could have been Bill Clinton’s baby mammas. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they now apply the term to Hillary Clinton — just to be fair and balanced.

-AGGRESSION?? Here’s some…
What is scary is that an inbred mutant like you has internet access. What is scary is that you have friends that think like you and there is a slight lapse between now and when you all go to H-ll. What is scary is when you look in the mirror you think you see a someone that is better than anyone else. What is scary is that you have probably reproduced and there is a lingering or your existance in the next generation.

I’m thinking that the Conservatives that are making this tape, are making the very rope that will hang them in the long run. Michele and Barack Obama have lived with racist comments their entire lifes, they are up to the task. I truly believe that Obama became the Democratic nominee because this country has changed. This is the most unabashedly racist thing I have ever seen a news organization do. Can they even be considered a news organization any more? I don’t care how you feel about Obama or Michelle, the tone that Fox Noise has taken in respect to both of them demean us all as a country. A slight against one American is a slight against all Americans. I think it is time that level headed patriots start contacting the companies that advertise on Fox Noise and let them know of our outrage. Republicans love to say that the free market will take care of everything. Lets let the free market reject these kinds of tactics.
BTW—I just want to say that one of the reasons that our gas is so high is that whatever happens in Oil producing companies around the world, even the ones we don’t get oil from (The US gets most of its Oil from Canada) affects the global market. Whether you want to beleive it or not that all of our fates are intertwined. Once we realize that an injustice for some is an injustice for all we can start solving real problems and live up to our potential. Until then 5% of the worlds population will still determine our future.

I believe it’s both racist and sexist.
“Baby Mama” is a term often used in the black community to degrade a female whom has a child out of wedlock.
I wonder if there would be a change in headline if this were a story about Cindy McCain.
Foxnews and every other major network have every right to vet Michelle Obama. These network did so for Hillary C and Bill C. But I think this is a little overboard.

If Obama had called her his baby Momma would it have been racist? No because nothing he says or does will ever be considered racist.
The quotes below are from Obama’s book, “Dreams of My Father”;
“There was something about him that made me wary,” Obama wrote. “A little too sure of himself, maybe. And white”

YOU WANT TO SEE RACIST? HERE:
“For the first time in my adult lifetime I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.” –Michelle Obama
“The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, you know, there’s a reaction that’s been bred in our experiences that don’t go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way, and that’s just the nature of race in our society.” –Barack Hussein Obama, jr.

Well it continues on and on – It has been deemed by GOD in Heaven that black Barak Hussein obama AND his wife have heavenly authority to say ANYTHING – BE IT RACIST, RACE BAITING, SEXISM AND USING AGE and they are totally ALLOWED BY GOD to do this.
However, let anyone of any race or religion utter even a vowel that the obama’s object to, and this person is insulted and called every bad name that can possibly be published.
The fact that this is allowed is despicable and outrageous.
Do you realize what will happen if obama and wife get the presidency? You think that G.W. Bush has taken away US Citizen rights, you better just watch out for obama.
Hope and change right. This country will change so drastically that your heads will not stop spinning for decades.
This is what you want as a president? You would be better off electing Micky Mouse than Barack Hussein obama.
obama will give this country to the Middle East without any compulsion. Beware.

You republicans are so scared of Obama that you’re grasping at straws. He’s up 6 points on McCain in the latest national poll. No attacks have worked to slow him down. So now all the wingnuts have left is personal attacks, racist and terrorist innuendo and, perhaps classiest of all… atacks on Obama’s wife. Thank you for handing us the house AND senate in 2006 and for the whitehouse and veto-proof majority in 2008. I will not shed one tear for the death of the Republican party.

No one makes a big deal out of it, it was your obama that makes a big deal of it by saying that “i’m not going to wear ‘that” pin”. and now you obamaniacs blame the people for making a big deal. You started it and blame other for making a big deal out of it.
Maybe you guys ought to watch FOX news to learn more about obama since the other channels never said anything negatives about him. You actually should do that. I mean what are you afraid of watching fox news??? You should really learn more about Obama.

Sounds like everyone is ready to start another Civil War. My God, what has happened to Americans? Must be something in the water making crazy people out of all of us. What a shame. Abraham Lincoln must be turning over in his grave. Remember him? Yeah, the Emancipation Proclamation guy. I don’t know about anyone else in this country, but I am sick to death of the “black and white” thing that is going on now. Racism, a terrible disease, should have been cured a long time ago in America. Now that’s all we are hearing. We are truly regressing. And we have the gall to knock other countries for their bigotries? I think we should keep our mouths shut on that subject now. The rest of the world must be enjoying what is going on here now.

Baby Mama is a term used to degrade a women with children and unmarried.

Ms. Obama refered to her self as her husband’s “baby mama” in an early campaign speech. I’m guessing this is a follow up on her own reference about herself.
Posted by: Mathews | June 12, 2008, 12:08 pm 12:08 pm
After reviewing the clip, neither the Fox News Anchor or Contributor verbally called Michelle Obama “Obama’s Baby Mama”. The only reference in the clip is in text, however not by FNC, but instead the quote is from “outraged liberals” in the Democratic National Committee, who made similar statements that day and can be found rather easily across the media. While the term “outraged liberals” did not need to be said by FNC, there is no racism here.
I would expect this waste of reporting and slander from the tabloids, NBC, the Daily Kos, the Drudge Report, or Rush Limbaugh. However, seeing this on the front page of ABCNEWS.com is a disgrace to ABC’s legacy and a major disappointment.

Wow. We are officially a nation of puppets. Tug the string and watch us dance! “Baby Momma” is not a racist term or a Black term. It’s a slang term for the mother of your child, whom you did not marry or have a serious relationship with. It is used by different races, and has to do with location and economic status, not color. That said, is this what’s passing for news these days? Slang – and not even properly applied slang, at that?
Stop salivating like a dog at the ringing of Pavlov’s Bell. Stop letting someone else tell you what you should be afraid of, or how you should take something that’s been said. Start thinking for yourselves again.
It won’t matter who’s sitting in the White House, if the people that put them there are too busy fighting over stupidity and made up controversy to properly task him.

I don’t know why I am posting anything here. I heve learned in my 35 years that ignorance is not just a piece of the mind, it is the state of ones mind, and it is very unlikely to teach an old dog anything new (especially when he’s been wading in ignorance as many of you are). The liner “Obama’s baby mama” was in very poor taste, just as it was meant to be by the powers at FOX. The term “baby mama” is a horrible term. It is slang for a woman who has a child out of wedlock. Most times she is no longer in a relationship with the father, and refers to woman who were never married to the father of their child. Therefore, this term does not fit when addressing Michelle Obama. Her daughters were born to her and Obama after during their marriage, not before. She is not a ‘baby mama’. She is a wife and mother to her two children from the same man whom she shares a committed love and relationship with. The ignorance of you all to bash this woman for being something that many of you probably are not – smart, attractive, successful(not because of her husband or inspite of her husband but regardless of her husband),respected, and honest. I have a biracial son, and [white] people seem to not understand when I say that I don’t mark other or biracial for him. Why should I? The bottom line is that white society is going to still seem him as black no matter what. Obama has a white mother and grandmother that he loves and adores. When he was asked during a debate what has been his biggest regret in his life, he stated not being their at his mother’s bedside when she was dying. This man adored that woman!!! But so many of you call him rascist or anti-Christian. Maybe the problem begins with the fact that his white mother laid down with a black man… and an off the boat African at that. Did that leave her tainted, and therefore less white? So Obama is rascist because of the church he attended? My son’s white father visited a church in our city numerous times while researching religion for an anthropology class that was all-white and regularly espoused it’s racial pride. How many of you grew up beiving that blacks were inferior because “it says so in the Bible”? It no more says in the Bible that blacks are inferior than it states that whites are superior. But why is one okay and the other is not? Those of you who are saying all of this sheer evil today are the same ones that swallowed the rascist Koolaid almost ten years ago when the talk then was that McCain had a “black baby”. Oh how the wagons circled him and laid doubt into the hearts of others about how much he was really “one of us”. You all are the same folks that got all upset about the “bitter” comment. The sad part is that you all are bitter. And that bitterness has eaten away at your hearts. Patiotism and love of country lays in the hearts and souls of all of those who love this country. How can you all have that kind of love when you walk around with such bitter-eaten hearts? God help you all, because obviously you are too ignorant to help yourselves.

Jake, what’s really disappointing is reading the comments here, and how so many people don’t mind trivializing a degrading term. I am starting to think people don’t understand what this word actually means when used as a way to insult women – minority or not. I would like to think people can do better than this. It’s not OK to degrade people. Disagree with people who have ideologies you don’t like, and do speak your mind, but it’s wrong to stereotype people based on the color of their skin. Period.

As an interracial woman who has had the ability to see both cultures up close and personal, I find most of the rants posted here to be a poor reflection of the America I know and love. My father’s family is Republican while my mother’s is Democrat. Half my family is white, the other black . . .Catholic versus Baptist. One thing that I have learned is that sometimes people make racist-like comments and they don’t even know it. I’ve seen this in my own family. It’s all about perspective. My grandma will always be right because her experience and beliefs tell her so. This does not mean I have to agree. So with everyone having a different American experience, does that make anyone else’s untrue or less important? No!
Instead of these posts being a place where people can debate the issues intelligently, we are reduced to calling strangers names and speculating on improbable truths that have nothing to do with the issues at hand. Perhaps it’s only under the shelter of anonymity that people can express their deepest fears. . . a sad thought indeed.

If you want everyone to be treated equal then you should be AMERICAN’S period, why distinguish yourself as being different by calling one’s self AFRICAN-AMERICAN. If by some chance you were actually born in Africa and came to this country in order to change your nationality most that I have come in contact with proudly call themselves AMERICAN! Let’s see I guess I could call myself AMERICAN INDIAN/GERMAN/IRISH citizen.

Its easy to say bad things about people because of hate, and ignorance. Just think most of you will suffer greatly for your ignorance, and I know you don’t think so. You are like little children playing with life and fire. even if Obama doesn’t become president Of America, because of racism, that’s America’s trial with God. If you think that tornado’s, earth quakes, food shortages, extreme hate for Americans by other nations, war, a bad economy, rising gas prices, divisions in our communities, and America’s destruction is only a passing phase, just pick John McCain. I can not lose at this point. If Obama wins America wins, If Obama loses I still win because you still have to face God for your evil to the human family, and especially black people. Yes, you will have to face God, and it won’t be like you think, God is a racist too! This is your last chance to show that you are really a servant of God. Your weapons of mass destructions will not help you when God is on your backside. This does not include to good hearted people of the country, just the devils.

Dee Tee Gee: You missed my point. I would love (and I mean that from the bottom of my heart) to see s black man as president of our United States. Just not Barack Obama. He is a divider not a uniter. Read the article about strange Bedfellows: Obama and the Evangelicals. Hardly a chance when he stands where he stands. He does not want to protect the most innocent among us (in the womb) and other assorted Un-evangelical stands.

All this faulderol reminds me of the old joke, which I first heard on Sanford & son, that classic broadcasting paragon of cultural diversity. Fred said “Mama’s baby, Daddy’s maybe”.
So it goes in the exciting but Godless world of big city, Liberal politics.

I am a proud American! I have no problem with the color of a mans skin, where I have a problem is that we have a man that is running for the most powerful office in this land that refuses to pledge allegiance to the American Flag, he wants to change the National Anthem to I’d like to teach the world to sing, and at one point he refused to wear the flag pin! People we need to WAKE UP! Our brave heroes have fought and died for this land, and Mr. Obama acts like he is ashamed of what we stand for. Instead of being concerned about the color of the canidates, the ago, republican or democrat, we need to look for the best man for the job. A man that will work hard for ALL THE PEOPLE!

Only a black person can use that phrase? I need a politically correct dictionary by race so I can learn who is allowed to say what.

Mack I applaud you for the statement made earlier. There is nothing else that needs to be said because the truth prevails.

Didnt Donna Brazile (superdelegate, and rules and bylaws commitee member) say back in february when Clinton had the majority of superdelegates, and obama had the vote, that if the superdelegates overrode the vote of the people, she would quit the democrats?? Shouldnt Donna Brazile be packing her bags?

Well said Tasha. The truth will prevail. Whether you want to believe it or not, Senator Obama was purposed for this time in his life (as President of these United States of America) and ours (God is having mercy on this sinful nation). God is in control of this (not the Republicans nor the Democrats). This is Senator Obama’s destiny.
Posted by: newbie | June 12, 2008, 2:24 pm 2:24 pm
First, let me clear something up. My post to Mack was a mistake. That post was meant for Tasha. I am an African-American also and believe me I am well aware of what our ancestors have gone through and what we are still going through now. We have come a long way but still have a long way to go. No, we do not want to dwell in the past, but we certainly cannot ever forget it. It is part of our history. It’s what keeps me striving for higher heights.
Posted by: newbie | June 12, 2008, 2:34 pm 2:34 pm
All of you who say that you don’t want to dwell in the past, but you’ll never, ever forget, part of OUR history….blah – blah – blah. Well, that is exactly what you are doing – dwelling in the past. You are not the only group to ever be treated badly. Look at women in general. Look at the native Americans. Look at the Jewish people during Hitler. Let it go. Your hate is hurting you more than it is hurting the white people you feel so much bitterness towards. (White people who never did anything to you.)
Posted by: Ted | June 12, 2008, 3:02 pm 3:02 pm
why only blacks can use certain words? is it not being racist? When a clack preacher talks racist things about whites – it is his/her anger about the past. If a white preacher talks racist against balcks or whites – he gets fired. What kind of biased society is this? If you are fighting for equal rights then you should be ready to give up some previledges too.

“Are you better off today than you were 8 years ago?”
Posted by: godblessusa
=========================
To be honest, YES I am.
I now own my own home (mortgage finally paid off, thanks to getting a 15-year mortgage that I could afford, rather than getting over my head in an interest-only or ARM in order to keep “moving up” to a fancier McMansion every 4 or 5 years), have a good job with great benefits (govt), finally have the vactaion time and discretionary income to do a real vacation (have been to 7 counties in the last 8 years), have no debts, and am in decent shape regarding saving for my retirement (had not even begun that 8 years ago!)
Do I “credit” GWB for that ? NO, I credit my own hard work, to earn promotions and performance merit awards; being financially responsible in terms of not tossing money away on things like the latest model of cell phone or iPod or TV, setting savings and debt pay-off goals, and in general not living beyond my means. But to be fair, then neither could I “blame” GWB if I was worse off now than 8 years ago.

I don’t care for someone who says she isn’t proud of America or someone who attends a church led by an American hating racist. I’m certainly no fan of Obama, his wife and surely not his minister. I would like to see Obama lose his senate seat. Some things however are unacceptable. … The clip was written as if it was a quote from outraged liberals. No matter who said it, the statement was childish and inappropriate. The ‘Bitter Half’ I think is acceptable but the other is not. I would expect that from a thirteen year old boy with a low IQ, but not from intelligent adults.
Posted by: Royce | June 12, 2008, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm
Well, “baby mama” or “baby dady” refer to unmarried parents, but I don’t mind Fox news using the term, so long as they refer to Cindy McCain as John’s “Slampiece”.
Posted by: richwonderfull | June 12, 2008, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm
First of all, I for one do not dwell in the past and this has nothing to do with bitterness nor hurting anyone. We all have history (what is the purpose for history books – so that we remember events from the past), but we do not dwell on it. History is a part of our learning process to help us make a better future for ourselves and future generations.
Posted by: newbie | June 12, 2008, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm
I saw noting bad in the video clip…..what’s the big deal? If Cindy McCain was out there on the stump saying questionable things about our country….she’d be called on the carpet too. The Obama’s should distance themselves from “blame whithey rhetoric”….but it may be too late for that with the folks they have chosen to associate with. It will be an issue.

Yes,I had stayed in my own country (i.e., 1 country, USA) PRIOR TO THE LAST 8 YEARS, and pretty much in my own backyard. I was unaware that was so unusual — but then, I guess it is for some people. As I said, I didn’t waste money on travel vacations when I had bills to pay.
Or are you trying to make some(obviously missed) point?
By the way, I am female, not a “he”.

Talking about racism….CHECK THIS OUT:
“For the first time in my adult lifetime I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.” –Michelle Obama
“The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, you know, there’s a reaction that’s been bred in our experiences that don’t go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way, and that’s just the nature of race in our society.” –Barack Hussein Obama, jr.

Oh, and another thought. I wish Obama would quit slapping his wife on her a$$ on national tv. That is not racist, and it is far from being respectful of women. That is just dead common.
Posted by: Melanie | June 12, 2008, 4:57 pm 4:57 pm
Melanie, I have not seen Obama do that. Are you sure? I will be watching for that, becaue if that is the case, there is another term for that. You “in the know people” know what I am referring to.
Posted by: checkpoint | June 12, 2008, 5:10 pm 5:10 pm
That may people use that expression affectionate at times does not mean that an American TV network should refer affectionately with the same words. Those who are arguing that the expression are not reserved for blacks only are right but miss the point. It has been reported that McCain calls (or once called) his wife a c-nt. Should CNN or THE VIEW use that tag line the next time Cindy McCain on those networks? If you are not sure what that expression means look it up.

Melanie, yeah, I don’t like a$$ slap$ either of his wife. at least he can now stop his one-finger face scratching whenever he says Hillary’s name. But the worst is he is too liberal and changes his mind too much about most everything.

“A guy who would call his wife a trollop and a —- just because she had ruffled his hair in front of five guys is not only a jerk, but a dangerous hothead if he ever gets his finger on the button.”
OBAMA 08!
Posted by: BBLACK | June 12, 2008, 6:28 pm 6:28 pm
In his 1992 Senate bid, McCain was joined on the campaign trail by his wife, Cindy, as well as campaign aide Doug Cole and consultant Wes Gullett. At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you —-.”
AHHH, GOP FAMILY VALUES! OBAMA 08!
Posted by: BBLACK | June 12, 2008, 6:31 pm 6:31 pm
To call Michelle Obama -Barack’s baby mama is a term used to say the person is ignorant and stupid and not worthy of respect–Michelle Obama is none of that-She came up out of the inner city to go to an Ivy League College and soon to BE FIRST LADY OF THE US. DOESN’T SOUND LIKE A PERSON THAT IS IGNORANT.

Some people are so opinionated. They will use and twist words just to make things up about people they do not like. Rush Limbaugh makes a living doing just that, I wonder if he sleeps good at night. He has to deal with it.

FOX NEWS?
Since when?
Posted by: Thinking | June 12, 2008, 7:33 pm 7:33 pm
For all the people trying to turn the outrage expressed into something racial with replies like “Black people made up the term and use it all the time. So Black people can say it and whites can’t?”
Black people KNOW what the term means! We KNOW when to use it and WHY!
Michelle Obama is not Barack’s “Baby Mama” and FoxNews owes her an apology.
If you want to use our terms, I suggest learning what those terms mean first! Because saying the wrong thing to the right person could get more than your feelings hurt!
Posted by: Danielle - Southfield, MI | June 12, 2008, 9:13 pm 9:13 pm
So this is how FOX News celebrates Father’s Day? Their own fathers (and mothers) must cringe when they’re asked what company their children work for.
Tell you what. Send emails to Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes telling them what you think of their “family values”.

Oh come on folks, its Fox News! they had to move onto something else after the terrorist scarf and terrorist fist jab stories… this is just stupid and non news trying to get at trailer trash minds.
Posted by: mcgreen | June 12, 2008, 11:00 pm 11:00 pm
So, let me get this straight – I heard Michelle Obama on an interview last year call Barack her “baby daddy” but it is NOT OK for Fox to call her a “baby mama”.
Posted by: Typical White Person | June 12, 2008, 11:00 pm 11:00 pm
The GOP, McCain and Fox News must really hate women. First they go after Hillary tooth and nail, now they attack Michelle Obama. They must have the political formula that says destroy women at all costs.
Most Hillary supporters need to understand that it was the GOP that destroyed Hillary from the very beginning. The GOP with Rove leaked press stories and information to drive up Hillary’s negatives even before she announced her candidacy. The GOP thought she would be the Democratic nominee and needed to destroy her reputation and define her image. That is why the initial press was so aligned against Hillary initially.
Until women as a group start to fight back against this kind of stuff they will always lose and be thought of as second class.

It is not racist, its disrespectful.PERIOD!! Ask yourself this..If they said “Bill Clinton is campaining today in Iowa for his Baby Momma”, or “McCain and his Baby Momma have just arrived”. Come on dummies. My husband would not appericate anyone calling me his baby momma. No one that is actually MARRIED should.

In the words of Tyler Perry’s Ma Dear: “It ain’t what they call you. It’s what you answer to.”
After November I’m sure that it will be “First Lady”, not “Baby Mama”, that Michelle Obama answers to.
Posted by: Casual Observer | June 13, 2008, 9:42 am 9:42 am
As that p0s3r said, the term itself is not racist, ie when Michelle Obama herself described Barack as her baby daddy. However when it is used by a white commentator for no other reason then to draw attention to the race of the subject it is racist. Would they describe Hillary Clinton as President Clinton’s baby mama? Never! The indignity! So yes Maury Povich is why we all know this term. The way it was used on fax was extremely racist.

What is the big deal here? Michelle introduced Barry as “my baby’s daddy” when he won his senate seat at the victory party in Illinois.
Why is it only ok for her to talk like that?
CNN covered it and the transcripts are out there.
Posted by: Foodforthought | June 13, 2008, 9:09 pm 9:09 pm
Why do people want to feign ignorance unless they really are? There are many things that border on derogatory that you can say about yourself or about some of your friends/family that other people if they say it would probably be involved in a fight with you and your family/friends.
For instance a woman can call her friend/sister a bitch all night long and both will laugh about it, but let a stranger say this even in jest and I am sure a HUGE disagreement will erupt.
Fox should use logical judgment instead of ignorance when ATTEMPTING to be neutral reporters, but this is Fox and assaults on financial standings, sexism, and racism are tolerated.
I mean it is a network that when listens to only caters to white males over 35 whom make more than $200,000/yr, I mean those are really the only people they do not take shots at LOL
