Hill Back on the Hill
So Bill Clinton has announced he will back Barack Obama as his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, returns to Capitol Hill.
Across the Capitol, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., today said that women "are wildly enthusiastic about her candidacy. Not just a woman but this woman, this talent, this intellect, stamina. I think her candidacy was a bright, bright moment for us and she may run again."

i loved it.

once again the article was great.

too late nancy she had opportunities to speak out during the primaries. But she remained silent about the sexism. That is why her house seat will be targeted for her to lose.

Hillary will never be president. One thing in the campaign I learned is how much the Clintons’ are disliked. It was actually overwhelming to say the least.
Posted by: Northern View | June 24, 2008, 2:48 pm 2:48 pm
Two reasons to vote for them. One a woman and one is black. That is reason enough for a Democrat to vote for them.
Posted by: scab | June 24, 2008, 2:49 pm 2:49 pm
I have nothing against Sen Clinton, but no chance she will ever be President.
Her only real “achievement” was marrying a powerful politician. That same “achievement” is the reason she’ll never be elected.

She should be ousted from office for taking paychecks and not having been on the job for weeks now. If we did that for even 2 days we’d be fired.

Truthfully Obama will need at least a 20 point lead in the polls to win. A measly 10 points will not cut it. Most of America’s Democrats will now vote the way they do down south.

to all of you sen. clinton haters,
sen. clinton has helped a lot of people.
and no amount of hater talk from you will change that.
her good work along with the bad has already been recorded in the history books.
so hate on…

If Clinton should be fired for not showing up to work in the senate, so should Obama.
And even when Obama is at work, the most he will do is say PRESENT.
Posted by: mary | June 24, 2008, 3:17 pm 3:17 pm
JR,
should obama give back the paychecks he took from the state of ill when he voted present so many times?
if obama and mccain do not need to give back the money they are making for not being on the job, sen. clinton does not need to either.
also two weeks off for vacation. that is pretty standard vacation time for people in this country. or is sen. clinton so bad and unhuman she doesn’t deserve to get what most of you take for granted?

I was a big fan of Bill Clinton’s before the primary. I’m hoping I can like him again someday, but for now, I hope he just goes back to work and stays quiet for a while. Maybe time will help erase a few of his poorly chosen words. I think Obama will do just fine without Bill’s “help.”

you should read or reread the post below your,

there is a lot of clinton hate here.

Time will tell what happens. If the Dems do not stop fighting and unite, McCain WILL win. All this arguing is not winning the election. That is the point. It is not about Obama or Hillary now. It is about putting a Dem in the White House!!!

former hillary,
sen. clinton right out of college was a brilliant mind and on the fast track to being a great contributor to helping people everywhere long before she met bill clinton.
she would have made a name for herself in any field, bills wife or not.
the people who asked her to run for the senate didn’t think she would get in just because of bill.
and anyway, who believed she was running and would get anywhere on bills coattails, after what happened with him?
Posted by: jgaw | June 24, 2008, 3:33 pm 3:33 pm
former hillary,
I respect what you have just said, but
I don’t think people will even recognize or respect the good sen. clinton has done.
and thank goodness the good work she does is NOT affected by the people who talk her down. because a weaker person would have gone home a long time ago.
as she said she was trying and doing good work before the spotlight came on and she will be doing good long after it is gone.
and a lot of poor people will be glad to know that.

Those who are threating to write Hillary on the ballot, should think twice. Voting laws are different in different states. Please check with your local SOS about what is acceptable in your state. Writing Hillary on the ballot may in some states mean a VOTE FOR OBAMA. Now if you are serious about not voting for Obama, please check with your local Secretary of State and confirm how you can go about this. You may just want ot sit this one if you do not want to vote for McCain.
All Best,

you cannot just write sen. clinton’ name in without sen. clinton having reg. in the state she is availabe to be a write in candidate. so the write in stuff is probally all just heated talk.

YOU were first in line with your party leaders to push Hillary out, You were Silent to the constant bashing of Hillary by the media & obama group. Do NOT come to unite the party now – we do not care about the party – only our country. The DNC have picked the Weak guy – who will never win.
McCain – 2nd Choice.

ADD – yeah I see your problem. You think Clinton has a bigger problem than Obama? Seems she garnered practically the same # of votes as Sir Obama.
For every HRC vote in the primaries, Obama got a vote. For every HRC supporter, Obama will see 1/2 a vote in the GE. HRC supporter does not = lemming…does not = Obamabot…does not = blind democrat.

Molly, Thank you.
I hope there is a concerted effort to see that Pelosi doesn’t get re-elected – and Harry Reid too. What the two of them have done to our party is destroy it. I will hold my nose and vote for McCain.
Posted by: H. Dunn | June 24, 2008, 4:50 pm 4:50 pm
I suspect this is a sign that the Clintons think Obama isn’t gonna be elected. A show of solidarity while they see the writing on the wall. He’s surging now – perhaps peaking. They toe the party line now and bide their time til 2012. Anyone know the story of Bill losing the race for AR governor in the late 70′s (after his first term)? He was heads-down prepping for his next shot.
Pelosi probably senses the end of Obama-hysteria. The media and DNC frenzy to bash HRC was so great, folks didn’t realize what was going on. When the dust settled and they started wiping the blood from their chins, they realized they inadvertently backed the wrong horse.
Worse yet, there may be something coming on the beloved BO. It’s like a monthly thing with bad news about his background. The dems hope the next shoe isn’t too big. Or, if it is, that it happens before the convention. Hannity and the Right Wing have been extraordinarily quiet. I suspect they’re waiting til after the convention.
Posted by: FishMonger | June 24, 2008, 5:03 pm 5:03 pm
They stabbed Hillary in the back during the nomination fight. Now, they need the votes.
They tried to tag Hillary and Bill as racist.
I know scores of democrats who will be voting for McCain.
The mainstream media is willing to close their eyes and not question Obama about his past associations and flip-flops.
It will be left to the rest of us to educate one person at a time about Mr. Obama’s character.
Posted by: Roger Miller | June 24, 2008, 5:18 pm 5:18 pm
Power is addictive to politicians. One dose and she/he is hooked. Senator Clinton could have walked away with honor. Instead, she is staying with a party that deserted her during the primary. It’s very sad.
Posted by: Independent | June 24, 2008, 5:38 pm 5:38 pm
Personally, I haven’t decided if I stay home or vote McCain in the GE. I’ve long admired McCain’s approach to the issues – not always toeing the party line…but I haven’t made the leap.
It seems there are 3 wedge issues to consider when looking at McCain. The Obamabots will whisper their “McCain warnings” in you ear. But consider:
1 – Abortion. “McCain will stack the Supreme Court and overturn Roe v. Wade.” The truth is that the court already has enough weight on the right to overturn it. It happened when SDO retired and Roberts was confirmed. And I think he was confirmed by a democrat-controlled congress? The point is, congress will remain in the dems hands. Even if they fear McCain nominees – all they have to do is DO THEIR JOB.
2 – Iraq. Long story short – congress holds the purse strings. McCain can’t go around them – they need to DO THEIR JOB.
3 – Economy. McCain isn’t as dumb as people want to portray him on the economy. Obama and the DNC have twisted some of his word into their own little loop. He said he was ‘stronger on foreigh policy than the economy.’ He didn’t say he didn’t understand economics. Further, there are advisors. The POTUS must have the judgement to select smart advisors – shudder at the thought that one person makes all the economic decisions. And, again, when McCain’s economic policy needs support from congress. Once again – they need to DO THEIR JOB.
So, is a right-leaning moderate so bad when both houses of congress are run by the dems? Certainly no worse that a guy from the far left wing who would look for rubber-stamp approvals from his party. Yikes.

the people at msnbc have no shame, after all of the running down of the clintons, and bill needs to just go home, and bill needs to be quiet,
and now all they can talk about is
when and what will be say or do to help obama win.
WHAT?!
obama and co. have said they do not need or want bill clinton, and they list all of the reasons why not.
and now bill clinton is a sore loser if he is not doing backflips to do anything.
the clinton’ are human, just as the rest of us.
the msm, the dnc, the obama crew, expect the clintons to do what none of them or you would do.
first told “we won, now get lost”
and then told
oh by the way, if you don’t help us, we are going to call you sore losers.
now how would any of you react to that?
the clinton’ are damned if the do and
damned if they don’t
most people don’t want them, so let them stay at home.

After all, you did say in April that we would all unify and support Obama. Not a chance. I would gladly contribute to whoever runs against you. I will gladly vote for McCain. My family in Missouri will be voting for him also. There is much unrest in Illinois right now because of the Chicago politics-as- usual that got Obama started. Maybe we’ll see how much this will effect Obama’s numbers in November. I think it will have a huge effect on the state legislators. People are sick and tired of them. Till then, Nancy Pelosi, please don’t email me anymore for contributions to the DNC.

How sad it is that the media coverage which skewered Hillary is still involved in its unbalanced reporting. Leno SNL, and Letterman (I don’t watch O’Brian – prefer Ferguson ) still spend minutes of Hillary jokes and do not give one about Obama. Letterman should be presenting the clips of the many speeches Obama tries to make without the teleprompter. He makes Bush sound like the greatest orator. Fear? Lack of objectivity? Network pressures? I don’t know but I’m tired of it and have tried to email my concerns. Hopefully, the readers of this blog can join me and bring some voice of reason. I think the negative press hurt Hillary and Bill as well. The clips we saw and the hue and cry made about some silly stupid out of context comments were consistently on air. This primary has proven that sexism is alive and well – and accepted – in the US. I don’t like Obama because of his lack of experience and his flip flop on issues. I detest the idea that not to vote for him is racist because it must be that he is black. It is as racist to vote for him because he is black. I am glad that another commenter pointed out that the Supreme Court could over ride Roe vs Wade with the members now on board. That has been a sticky point for me that will now make it easier to vote for him. Also, I cannot stand the excuse that it will take 10 years to get benefit from beginning to drill for oil now. We have moved from 25% to 65% usage of imported oil. It is, to me, a matter of national security to be energy independent. Or at least bring down our reliance on foreign oil to the number it was years ago. If Congress had spent their time wisely, we’d not be in this problem now. No more excuses. Oil and the man made global warming issues are the ones I had hopes that Hillary would work on. McCain has touched on the oil and now if he will tell us that the 31,000 scientists who have declared that man did not create global warming and that actually we are now in a cooling period, then he definitely has my vote. I am liberal in so many issues but the ones that are so important to our national security are not for sale. Oh, did anyone read Nancy’s comment that the it was the good will of Iran that stopped some of the fighting in Iraq? San Fransisco Chronicle has it. Or blog, Nancy Pelosi, Iran, good will to find linkage. I’ve emailed Nancy at her Speaker government site with many of these same issues. I’ve not received a response. I hope she loses her election and I’d send her opponent some money if I could. Oh, Barack flip flopped on campaign contributions. To do so he will be able to use twice the amount of money than McCain to buy his way to the White House. I just heard that he received megabucks from Hollywood. To me it is a lack of integrity to go back on this pledge and then to excuse it with such a simple reason. Does he think we are morons?
