Hillary Ghost Hangs Over Obama Unity Event
ABC News’ Tahman Bradley and Greg Wallace Report: The sensitive task of bringing Hillary Clinton’s supporters into the Barack Obama movement was ever-present during a Democratic show of unity with party’s leaders Tuesday in Washington. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., made news announcing their willingness to push for a second stimulus package – as Obama has called for. But the day was Hillary’s.
Party chairman Howard Dean barely completed one line praising the presumptive Democratic nominee, Obama, before showing sympathy to Clinton’s complaint that she was treated unfairly during the nomination process.
"We congratulate Senator Obama, and we are working at the DNC already to make sure that he is the next President of the United States. I also want to say how extraordinary grateful we are to Senator Hillary Clinton for her leadership and her extraordinary commitment to America and the Democratic Party," said Dr. Dean.
"On the blogosphere and the airways, emotions have run high, heated discussions have lead at times to sexist comments – particularly by some members of the media. There have been racist remarks as well. And we know that those comments have no place in our society and certainly no place in our party."
Pelosi, the closest woman in line to be president ever, was equally as sensitive, but more upbeat. "Her knowledge, her eloquence, her stamina, her commitment to the future have made us all really really proud that she has proven that America is willing to elect a woman President of the United States."
The Speaker continued with a little bit of praise for Obama, a little attack on the Republicans, and oh, by the way: "We come together on a day that is very important — as I mentioned Sen. Clinton’s important leadership for women — today…….is the 45 Anniversary of the signing of the Equal Pay Act. And we want all of those women who came out for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, especially those who came out for Hillary Clinton, to know that the work goes on," Pelosi added.
In case the press at Democratic Party headquarters didn’t notice Dem. leaders’ tone about Clinton, Washington Senator Patty Murray made clear she’s not worried about women getting on board the Obama train. "We are all on the same team," she said.
The event, with just about ever Democratic leader in Congress, was about projecting an image of a party united behind its soon-to-be nominee. Obama’s Senate leader Reid voted the Illinois legislator an All-Star. "Those of us who serve with him in the Senate know he is truly an All-Star," he said. "If we were talking about baseball – this man can run the bases, he hits for the long ball, he’s really good at picking up singles, he’s somebody who is a really good team player. Barack Obama, the next president of the United States."
Sen. Debbie Stabenow, of Michigan, predicted Obama would carry her state in November. Not wanting to be left out of the predictions game, Pelosi said, "put California down as a blue state." After that extremely bold prediction, Dean ended the meeting.

The media treated Clinton like garbage. Axelrod and Soros are to blame for that.
I wont vote for Obama because he is a first term liberal senator with a freaky preacher and angry wife.
I will not support someone who thinks being president of the united states is all about winning the election, and nothing about running the country.

Of course the party hacks have to appear unified, although, I did notice one Oklahoma congressman (a man no less) who was unwilling to jump on the train complaining Obama is too liberal. Saying Obama does not represent his more conservative district. Of course, he’s a lone voice, but the irony is, his opinion is more representative of middle america.
This is a lesson democrats refuse to learn.

It’s little too little, a lot too late. Go McCain! (Don’t worry Hillary supporter, there will be democratic congress that will ensure no conservative policies coming out for a while.) Go McCain!

Well then you deserve what we continue to get every time a republican is in office; high gas prices, inflation, war and war mongering, a decreasing middle class, high unemployment and a shakey economy.
The fact is the country doesn’t deserve this horror. Elections are about winning and losing. Hillary lost, it’s simple. No one took it from her. She lost it all by herself with her team, and the ex president. Sometimes, the people we want to win, don’t.
Posted by: Marchion | June 10, 2008, 7:26 pm 7:26 pm
Funny how these leaders are self comforting, hoping the party can be united as if nothing happened – if they are now so upset and coming out saying all these criticism toward the media, where were they when Hillary was unfairly attacked?
Obama was the one selected by these people.

Neither Obama nor Hillary has enough pledged delegates to reach 2118. Dems’ SDs picked Obama over Hillary…
SDs who picked Obama all said “Obama is a true leader who can bring to Americans and bring people “…
Obama came from the most corrupted Chicago politics and the most divisive and hatred church and Dems’ SDs still falled in love with his “change” and “vision”…
God bless America!!

Patronizing remarks by Dean, Pelosi and Reid will not make Hillary supporters vote for Obama. We will vote McCain, stay home or write-in Hillary. And by the way, as a Californian, I can tell you, don’t assume the state will be in the Blue column.
Posted by: Mark | June 10, 2008, 7:34 pm 7:34 pm
Nancy Pelosi makes me sick with her hypocrisy. Just weeks ago, she attempted to railroad Sen. Hillary Clinton out of the race too early. NOW, she is praising her for her “stamina” of all things? Pelosi is not to be believed by anyone. The DNC made sure that Sen. Barack Obama was “selected not elected”. Im writing Hillary in come November.

Please explain the meaning of this statement. Your America? You are going to take it back from whom? Please explain this.
I want to forward your entire comment on to the DNC so that they might read what we see daily by the obama followers. Maybe then, they will finally realize what it is they have done.
Posted by: CalifLady36 | June 10, 2008, 7:41 pm 7:41 pm
I have also written to Howard Dean about the rough treatment meted out to Hillary. I have requested that my name be deleted from the DNC’s list as I do not want to get any e-mails and I have no desire to contribute. If Hillary is given the VP slot and if she accepts it, I will change my mind and will be a Democrat. However, if Hillary does not find room on the Democratic ticket, I will consider myself as an independent for this election. I may sit out or write-in Hillary’s name or I might even vote for John McCain.

I agree an easy election for the Republicans to win. Eighteen months ago the Dems could of won in a cake walk. Now Senator McCain will win in a cake walk.

Hillary took on the “sexist” offense whenever it suited her. She was so abrasive to a man who tried very hard not to be sexist and attack her like she was attacking him. I’ve never seen any candidate be more respectful to another as Barack was to Hillary. When her brashness was working, she stood tall. When it didn’t, she was vulnerable, tearful, even wistful. I’ve never seen such schizoid behavior before in a campaign as Hillary’s. It being a first of it’s kind, we can forgive some of her antics. Don’t try and convince me that she lost simply because of sexism.
Try; voting for the war, campaign mismanagement, disorganization, funding problems, misteps, her and her husband’s behavior, comments and tall tales, and basically, her opponent had a better operation and message.
Yes, there is sexism in the world, there is racism too. You didn’t see Obama responding and blaming his many losses on simply that.
Posted by: Marchion | June 10, 2008, 7:47 pm 7:47 pm
Just sitting home on election day still gives Barack Obama a better chance of winning: If you’re not thrilled about Obama, the most effective thing that can be done is to vote for John McCain.
If you’re not going to vote for Barack Obama, Obama supporters would prefer that you stay home (or ‘write-in’ Hillary’s name). Because, of course, this helps Obama.

The reality of the situation is women are half of the world’s population. The way Hillary was treated during her campaign not only by the press but also her “fellow” democrats is a complete and utter disgrace. Party unity? The DNC really does think we are stupid. The US will still spend huge amounts on our military if Barack Obama becomes President — we will have troops in Kuwait and Afghanistan plus we will face a new front when he orders our troops to Darfur. How will he be able to pass a univeral healthcare bill and comply with the paygo rules when we will still be engaged in one ground war and a variety of longterm humanitarian missions?

I see the HRC female supporters or the Project Chaos lot are out in force. Now hear this loud and clear. You think Obama supporters would just cave in to your demands? No. We too voted by over 18 million for him. I work with math all day and know about tweaking stats – include this, exclude that. She did not win the popular vote by any acceptable math that would pass an audit. If you want to take the nomination to the floor, pay up. You need $30 million to pay off her debts and about $120 million for the Convention. That comes to $150 total by about the 3rd week of August. After that you need GE monies. She bankrupted her campaign. We have the biggest deficit in history to deal with so financial management skills or selecting the right person/people to do it for you is critical. Blind loyalty in selection is not a good option. You want your demands met? Then pay for it, but not out of Obama funds to which you have no right whatsoever. As the saying goes, put your money where you mouth is. Or peel off to McCain and let us concentrate on the issues as in Supreme Court Justices, Wade vs. Roe, Social Security, taxes, etc. Bye – but do not forget to send a final check to Hillary first to help her out and show your loyalty – money talks, BS walks and that is from a nearly 68 year old white LOL who has been around a lot longer than many of you. I did not get any freebies in my way up the career ladder as in a name recognition, etc. but made all by my lonesome in my own pair of shoes.

The DNC insured that Obama would win by forcing the people to believe that he held a lead that legally never existed. The DNC leadership knew the entire time that if they admitted that Florida and Michigan HAD to be counted by LAW that Senator Clinton would win easily, and they don’t think she can beat McCain. What they didn’t expect was the backlash that they are just now starting to bear and the absolute “stunning” loss they will find in the fall as the Repubs show just how much Mr. Obama is not only not a magnent for change, but is indeed already well entrench in the same old thing. Lets see how they might do that,
1) Mr. Rezko – a close personal friend found guilty of influnce peddling. Same old politics.
2) Mr. Johnson – A close persoanl friend, and a member and a person who benefitted from Countywide and assisted Mr. Obama in securing his sub-prime loans. Same old politics.
3) The Chicago Political machines that put Mr. Obama into the Senate. Same old politics.
Its a shame young people are so easy to mis-inform and that is who Mr. Obama appealed to. Same old politics.
When will people learn. The only way to move forward in politics is to be a politician. Same old politics.

If Obama were to win in Nov., I don’t think the Iraq war will end. Obama doesn’t have a history of standing up when the going gets tough. Sen. Ted Stevens said “Obama folded like a cheap suit” when time to take a stand. Also, in the Il. Senate, Obama earned the reputation of “gutless” because he was always “gone” when time to make the tough votes. I don’t think we have to wonder for very long what he’ll do when the generals and the Republicans start hammering him about the progress in Iraq, and condemning him for “surrendering”, as they’ll call it. Mark ending the Iraq war off your list. This milestone would take someone much tougher than Obama…someone like Hillary.

If you are a real supporter of Hillary Clinton you will vote for Barack Obama regardless who his VP choice is. The two have very similar positions on issues and are for the same kind of change.
If you listened to Sen. Clinton’s endorsement of Obama she asked supporters not to play the “What if” or “if only” game because it will only distract us from our goal of seeing change in the white house. Please do not vote for McCain just to teach Obama and the DNC a lesson because in the end you will only hurt yourselves and the American people. America deserves change, optimism and hope after the last eight years. Please don’t take that away from us because of hurt feelings during the primaries.

Democrats – I think not – especially if your willing to change party’s because the person you were backing lost – fair and square! But be sure to get your kids ready to go fight in the desert if you vote for McCain – because they need more people in the military to fill the spaces left by the ones they have already maimed or killed. This war should have never been fought – we should not have ever gone over there as the Iraqis were not behind the attacks of 9/11. Bush and his cronies wanted the OIL and the profits from it – but better yet – him and all of his cronies have profited off the war while driving the U.S. deeper in debt. If you vote republican then you need to pull your head out of where it is and take a look at where our country is headed on a fast track. You think McCain cares about the average joe- I don’t. His first wife stood by while he was a P.O.W. and when she needed him he dumped her and got a new one – worth several mill. Oh yeah there is a pre-nup, but he is still better off than most middle class people. I am a disabled veteran, used to be middle class but I have watched how the Republicans have sheltered the credit card companies in order to PROFIT off our backs! Sure give a kid, 18 y/o in college a cc with a 20k limit. He don’t have a job, no way to pay it back and before you know it that kid is in debt over his head. Credit card companies make money off the fact that they give credit to high risk people, and when they can’t pay it back they get to write it off and the government pays, meaning we pay. But that don’t matter because HRC didn’t win and we’re mad and gonna vote McCain or not at all. Democrats – I think not – cowards – yes…

to all you Hillary supporters. If you can’t stand the Dems any more, and want a pro-life, 100-years-in-Iraq, bush 3rd term-please go and join the GOP- afterall you are truly George W Bush Democrats. You must truly be extremists to want more of bush. I don’t think we’ll miss you as you were never going to vote for obama whatever he did. Rejoice in your $4 per gallon gas prices and the end of Roe v Wade. Your values are not consistent with our party. So go vote GOP-and quit whining. Its nauseating.

co11bang, don’t blame the GOP for that. The Dem’s plan would’ve increased our dependency on foreign oil and the price of gas would’ve gone up even more. They only proposed that to make the GOP look bad. That’s the dem’s game plan for the last few years. Just slander the opposition. That’s all they do, have you not noticed that?? They come up with NOTHING of substance. Obama will not win because his party is too fake. Look at the loons running it. Dean, Pelosi, Reid. All naive cowards.

Here’s a Clinton supporter that will NEVER vote for Obama….none of my family will vote for him, because he has yet to show solid plans for America. Hillary, on the other hand, made proposals and gave steps in acquiring these plans. There has been nothing from Obama. He is, simply put, “an empty suit with no substance!”

Hillary supporters need to quit crying and get behind Obama! They talked trash about how Hillary was going to win for months, and now that she has already conceded and endorsed Obama, they still are claiming that Hillary is somehow going to win. Hillary is a loser. She lost. Get over it and move on. Don’t stick with a loser. Instead, go with a winner. Don’t you know that those who back a loser are losers too?

It is time to get over it. Hillary lost and Obama won fair and square. He got more delegates than she did. Yes, he did get superdelegates to push him over the finish line, but he still got more delegates. And if you count everyone that voted in the primaries and caucuses, Obama won that also. You can’t just go by the Hillary numbers, although I know, they don’t think the caucus states are worth counting. They flat out lost and that’s it.
As far as staying home or voting for McCain, go ahead do it and watch what the supreme court does and watch the endless war in Iraq and Bin Laden running free and the tax breaks for the rich and the gas prices going higher and the war against Iran will be next. Is this what you want for our country? It’s time to get over it.

Get ready for a new direction, America! Life is going to be a lot better for working men and women under Obama. Unlike the Republicans, Obama is going to pump tens of billions of dollars into our inner cities. Life is going to be grand under Obama. Obama was a street organizer in the inner city of Chicago. Obama is going to make sure that inner city residents make out during his presidency.

Please consider these code words “. . . Obama won the right to choose a running mate.” That means the same as “politics as usual,” or “crown the last man standing.” But the vote is a two-step: not over until November when the people speak again.
Let’s talk about change: hold him to it. Change begins at home, inside the party. Right here. Right now. Former Hillary Clinton supporters are waiting for him to show respect for their audacity, their hope. Maybe day one is at the start of this campaign, not after the election.
That enormous voter turnout for a primary, split right down the middle, deserves comment.
Even a conservative can see the phenomenon of mass turnout, proportional allocation, and slim margins, and realize it is time to abandon the nominee privilege and find a new way of selecting a vp.
Or is it actually an old way? The founders, for the general election, would award the vice presidency to the person with the second highest number of votes.

Kennedy said that he didn’t appreciate the Clinton brand of politics. I guess he approves of the Obama brand. A sound defeat of Obama in Nov. will only give us the change we as Americans so desire.
Obama doesn’t represent “Change” at all – how could it when he has all of the old Democrat politicans running the show. Obama has no insight at all, he is proving to be their puppet. I don’t think that McCain represents change either but at least he did win his nomination far and square.
The media, in particular ABC has been so biased and have treated Senator Clinton with such disrespect, and I guess that would be because their top money maker Oprah was in his corner so maybe they have to dance to her music. This type of politics doesn’t settle well with the American people and to prove that fact just check Oprah’s ratings now compared to her ratings before the primary season. Ellen is now #1 in their time slot.
We need a good Independent like Michael Bloomberg to enter the race for the White House.
I certainly hope that Senator Clinton will not accept the VP slot if it is offered to her.

There is nothing radical about Obama. He just wants an America for ALL Americans, instead of an America for white suburbia. The oppressed, downtrodden, and poor are going to benefit enormously from an Obama Presidency. This is what every president is supposed to do; that is, help those Americans, who are in need.
White suburbia are afraid that they might have to give a little more to help their brothers and sisters in the inner-cities. What they don’t realize is that America will be a better place when ALL of its citizens are looked after by our government– instead of just the rich and powerful.

I continually hear Obama supporters say Hillary and Obama have basically the same policies. Well, Obama did get pretty proficient at “borrowing” from Hillary, so there should be similarities for sure.
Obama’s healthcare initiative is not like Hillary’s. I see no use in changing a darn thing if we simply use Obama’s plan. Don’t call it universal, that’s for sure. Only a mandated plan would actually come close to achieving universality.
Even if their policies were identical, doesn’t mean they’ll both stand up and fight for what they believe to the same degree. Obama only talked of party unity and bipartisan work, he rarely made any attempt at working across party lines, according to Lindsey Graham(R), but Sen. Graham stated, Hillary was the first Senator we would approach for bipartisan help. She was the unifier in practice, Obama in talk.
Obama appears weak, liberal, partisan…now, tell me again, how’s he going to make all this change happen?!?!He says NO to Washington as usual, but aligns himself with the oldest dynasty in the Senate in T Kennedy.
I am a Hillary supporter, but the reason I would not vote for BO is because of BO himself, not because I’m a sore loser about my candidate. I personally think he is a great community organizer, but I feel that’s as far as it goes. Pres. Bush ran a great campaign as well, so don’t judge governing on this principle. I don’t have confidence in BO’s effectiveness. I don’t have confidence in his policy knowledge. I don’t have confidence in him without his teleprompter. I don’t like that while trying to find his roots, he chose to seek out the most radical elements of the black community, and their influence manifests itself in BO’s books. I don’t like his self-aggrandizing style. I find him disingenuous to a fault. I don’t find him passionate about the issues. I didn’t see the compassion in his face when speaking to voters on the trail. I don’t like that he doesn’t do well one on one with the voters, but only feels comfortable on the big stage. This says something. I don’t like that Emil Jones padded BO’s resume’ in the Il. Senate by placing BO’s name on legislation that BO didn’t do work on, which angered many of his colleagues. I don’t feel BO would work nearly as hard as Hillary would have. She worked circles around him on the campaign trail, and I think this would have continued in the WH. Anyway..my list could go on and on…Basically, it’s BO.
Hillary will be blamed for whatever happens anyway, so what the hell….

Doris Parish, they would have been rioting in the streets if he had lost the nomination. They were practically doing it at every debate calling Senator Clinton all sorts of bad names. The Hillary supporters were threatened at the caucuses so I can tell you exactly what they would have done had he not been handed the nomination. Hillary won 9 of the last 14 primaries. We will not support him and many of us are still sending contributions to her campaign but she’s giving the Democratic party 22 million dollars that she raised for the General election. So let the Democratic Party pay her debts, they stole the nomination from her with their biased antics.

McCain, like Hillary, voted for the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. Obama is so far to the left on the issue of abortion that the Catholic Church has rebuked him because of his support for infanticide. McCain, like Hillary, opposes decriminalizing marijuana and ending the war on drugs. Obama favors ending the war on drugs and has said that drug laws are the reason that more black men are in prison than in college. McCain, like Hillary, is a strong supporter of the death penalty. Obama opposes the death penalty in all circumstances. McCain, like Hillary, favors a military response if Iran attacks Israel with nuclear weapons. Obama favors a diplomatic response.

You Hillary and McCain supporters don’t get it. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Obama knows this, which is why he wants to improve the lives of those who live in our inner cities. By rebuilding our inner cities, and giving those who have been denied a fair shot at the American Dream because of their color and poverty, America will better off during an Obama Presidency, both ethically, morally, and as citizens of one America– instead of the White America that Republicans panders to.

The senior leader DNC, are too blind to see, that he’s not all he’s cracked up to be. While their favorite son was helping Odinga campaign and Kenya for muslim law in a Christian majority country, other Senators were right here working for the American people. While the DNC favorite son was turning his back on the post election violence in kenya and showing photos of his bio-father’s 3rd wife, other Senators spoke out to encourage mediation. What is the DNC thinking here? How badly do Pelosi and Dean want a term in 2012 that they would risk the entire Dem party and election?

Hillary barely deserves to be a Senator, she probably ruined her chances at reelection from pulling this American Idol, “this is your only chance for a woman president in your lifetime”, argument. T hat is so messed up. Obama didn’t do that, he just ran on his merits. And he won on them.
It isn’t the only chance for a woman to be a President. But Hillary has no chance, not because she’s a woman, but because she sucks. Plain and simple.

former dem in chicago: I believe in rules. They were set in place by the DNC before the voting began. The DNC was ruled by the Clintons and they approved the caucus and primary set ups. As far as superdelegates, HRC already had 100 of them even before voting began as a result of old loyalties and favors returned. I stand by my stance that rules are rules. I most certainly am not being patronizing but just being an American who believes in the rule of law. And it is a fact, that HRC could not win without Obama supporters either. The numbers do not add up against McCain. But, I still think that you should all be rallying each other to make a donation to HRC’s campaign to help her out instead of just posting here. I will be checking her fund raising amounts to see how it is going – in actual numbers. Obama is going to be holding a joint fund raiser for/with her since it is the only way it can be legally done to reduce her debt. Any idiot that would vote John McCain in the fall after high gas, and food prices, the botched war in Iraq, the foreclosure mess, tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, 50 million Americans with no health care insurance, a total of 329,000 jobs lost to overseas markets, and salaries not keeping up with inflation deserves to wollow in the mud with pigs. Because if we vote McCain in the fall most of us will be setting up make-shift mud houses in the street and calling the communities shanty-towns. This fool has admitted that he does not have a clue what to do about the economy.
Go McCain!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dean now comments on the sexism? Where the hell has he been for the last year -oh, that’s right, he’s been busy promoting Obama and all the while trying to convince the democrats that he is doing a wonderful job running the DNC. So glad to have the dem leaders kissing the women’s backsides, however, it is too late. Your agenda to get Barack nominated has split the party. Pick a different group to pander too, women have too much pride, intelligence and integrity for you back stabbers.

Axelrod went too far. He will regret his actions come November.Obama does not know how to talk to hispanics. He already insulted them by voting for the wall between the U.S. and Mexico. For Example, Bill Richardson is disliked by a majority of latinos. Ask Obama “What do Latinos want and need”.? Most people think Latins came over yesterday. But in fact, we have been here since the 1500; were americans, the Nina Pinta and the Santa Maria were piloted by Spanish navagators.Christopher Columbus was not a pilot. With new immigrants becoming citizens, our voice will be heard. We are Conservative, Liberal, and Moderates. No one can pinpoint how we are going to vote.

Hillary Clinton never claimed to be a unifier. She only claimed to be a strong democratic candidate. Her primary wins and the 18+ million votes she received from the democratic base prove that her assertions were correct.
Barack Obama, on the other hand, claimed that he was a unifier and that he would work across the aisles to bring a new kind of politics to Washington. He now has an opportunity to put his money where his mouth is.
It is Obama’s responsibility to prove to Hillary Clinton supporters that his concept of “unity” doesn’t mean silence the dissent at all costs. It is Obama’s responsibility to take the high road and focus on the issues and positive changes that he can bring to Washington instead of attacking John McCain. This is Obama’s election to win or lose.
It’s his own words and his own standards that he will be held to. Lets see if he can live up to them.

The death penalty should be abolished–it is inhumane.
Let Israel attack Iran–they have their own nuclear weapons and need to fight their own battles.
And as far as abortion goes–it’s stupid to vote on a single issue. Too many other things are important.

Hillary supporters need to accept the fact that Hillary has conceded and endorsed Obama. It’s time for the Democratic Party to unite behind Obama’s leadership. Obama will win in November, because he cause is just. Obama wants one America, where all Americans are treated equally and fairly, no matter what the color of their skin is. Obama will lead America into a new direction, by taking the hundreds of billions of dollars being wasted in Iraq and using this money to better the lives of needy Americans. The dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
is realized in Barack Obama. Please help make Dr. King’s dream of One America come true.

Fair treatment – the other day all the pundits were talking that the only way Hillary could show that she was supporting Obama was if Bill and Chelsea campaigned for him. If he loses it will be because she didn’t do enough. This is 2 days after they all said it was now up to him to get her supporters to unity behind him. If She was the nominee would any of the same pundits be demanding that Michelle campaign for her. This would seems fair to me, if I were a blind Obama supporter.

I want to thank Richardson, because now he is being shunned by Obammy and company, he’s lost…..and the latinos will be going with McCain in the fall.

The only way I would vote for Obama is if Hillary is in the Ticket. Otherwise I pray that Obama will win the popular vote but looses the elections, just like Al Gore. I want him to taste the same medicine that he gave Hillary. Obama won with political & legal manipulations WHILE IMMORALS. HE BETTER STOP Rhetoric, AND give some substance. Obama is the flip-flopper of the year on his issues. With political manipulations he knocked out two candidates to the Illinois Senate to become the only candidate in the ballot, yes was legal but immoral to the two other black candidates.
The DNC lost credibility when they punished the voters of Michigan & Florida instead of the CRIMINALS,the DNC directors of both States by firing or fining them.
The Democratic Party was biased to Obama and deserves to be splited. OBAMA /CLINTON OR MC CAIN X 4 yrs

With all these stupid vituperations against obama, how come he has expanded his lead over mcsame in the opinion polls, even though he just came out of the democratic primaries and the wounds of the party yet to heal? This is espeicially significant, when you consider the fact that mcsame has been having a field day prior to the conclusion of all primaries. Info on where Obama was born–I gotta get outta here. You guys are all dopes.
Obama was born on August 4, 1961, at the Kapiolani Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Obama, Sr., of Nyangoma-Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya, and Ann Dunham, of Wichita, Kansas, who was largely descended from pre-revolutionary British settlers to the United States, although her great-great-grandfather Falmouth Kearney emigrated from Ireland in the mid 19th century.[1][2] His parents met while both were attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where his father was enrolled as a foreign student.[3] They separated when he was two years old and later divorced.[4] After her divorce, Dunham married Lolo Soetoro, and the family moved to Soetoro’s home country of Indonesia in 1967, where Obama attended local schools in Jakarta until he was ten years old.[2] He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from the fifth grade until his graduation from high school in 1979.[5]

JudyC…
Let’s not forget…rarely does transformational change happen the first try, e.g., healthcare reform. Hillary at least proved she’d go up against the drug co.’s and insurance co.’s . She would have had the advantage of learning from past mistakes/successes, and would have a much better chance of getting it through this time. Btw, more nurses backed Hillary. Hillary understood a need for healthcare reform before being for healthcare reform was a “cool” thing to do. Obama loves to use the word “cool”, so it’s apropos.
Obama just doesn’t have the toughness to go up against the special interests. I know he tells his supporters the opposite, but he did actually take more money from the drug and oil co. execs than hrc. He duped his supporters just a little on that one…

Actually, Hillary took 4 times the amount of money from special interests–primarily drug companies– as Obama did.
Having said that–I think they would have called in some favors if she were elected. That would have made her Universal Health Care difficult to accomplish. And as a nurse myself, that kind of plan scares the hell out of me.

John, why cling to the past? The 50′s are over. Complaining about Obama being a secret Muslim is just another form of blatant discrimination. America has a real opportunity to show the rest of the world that it has rejected the imperialist policies of George W. Bush, by electing a man of peace. Americans can also show Muslims that America has changed by electing a president with a Muslim ancestry. Obama wants to help the poor, the oppressed, and the needy. Can America take care of its poor, oppressed, and needy? Yes We Can!!!

The Republicans are the greediest, crookedest, most selfish, most divisive elitist group of people to rule this country and they have proven it time after time after time. Statistically our elections for president are neck and neck. That, all by itself, is a sure sign that they are rigged. Only the thieves of the electoral process keep the vote close to avoid suspicion. They would never be that close if the votes were not rigged – for either party. Are the voters of the United States really just two big groups fighting each other to a close finish.
No, the elections are rigged. Most of the respondents to this story are probably republicans trying to stir up dissension amongst their opponents. They don’t need it because the vote is rigged. However, they do need an excuse for why you democrats lost. Stop killing the rest of the world. We looked up to you for so long, now we fear you.

Dems disenfranchised their own voters, when Donna Brazile, a super delegate, who was on the RBC says on national tv…the democratic party doesn’t need those white woman voters, because the DP is now blacker, better educated with more money…I wonder who is she trying to unite.

It brings tears to my eyes to say this, but I will vote for McCain, and you can blame Dean, Pelosi and the Obama cult members who can’t (or won’t ) see thru his crap. Donna Brazile said she would resign “if the supers decided this thing” – meaning if they voted Hillary when Obama clearly won the delegates, by the rules of the game (which BTW Hillary damn well knew also). Hillary knew the rules and had to try to change the metric to win and couldn’t pull it off.

If you have noticed, just in the past couple of days, its seems the media, with the exception of MSNBC are beginning to question Obama and his platform? Its all working in the GOP’s favor now. What the Democratic Party doesn’t get, as they predict that Hillary’s voters will consider the issues and vote for Obama, is that it’s NOT ABOUT THE ISSUES. IT’S ABOUT THE MAN – OBAMA! We DON’T TRUST HIM!! If anyone had predicted that a man who spent 20+ years with an anti-American, racist spiritual mentor, and is friends with a domestic terrorist (Ayers) and convicted criminal (Rezko), not to mention his long association with Rashid Khalidi (a Palestinian radical), would be the Democratic nominee, no one would have believed it. The Democratic Party following in lockstep with Dean, Pelosi and Reid are on a march to defeat in November. The “bitter” blue collar and women voters will make sure of it by staying home or voting for McCain. We’re definitely not voting for some mystery man whose true agenda for America is a major question.

The american political system is flawed, and stagnating in this two party system. the two parties cant and wont agree on anthing. todays republican shut down of the consumer bill proved it. We need to get new blood in the political system and mulitple parties. We need to shut down the lobbist, get term limits imposed on congress, have laws passed to prevent congressmen having anything remotely to do with lobbist before, during and after they are in congress. Until that is done obama is spinning his wheels, he can try anything he wants but unfortunately the reblicans won’t allow it.

I am sick and tired of all things Barack. Never in my adult life have I felt so much against a politician. His lies, his “soft ” voice saying sorry for all the stupid things he has done in the past and the aggressive things that his campaign staff do today.
I REALLY , REALLY , REALLY, REALLY , REALLY HATE OBAMA.

Why can’t they get it? There will be NO unity for a party who did not speak up to defend a presidential candidate who was attacked over and over again by the media and by members of her own party. Why would we stand with you now when you did not once stand with us against such injustice? You have the candidate YOU wanted. You made it clear that you did not need or care about Senator Clinton’s supporters prior to June 7, 2008. You certainly can’t expect us to feel unity with you now. I’ll advise you to do as the Obama supporters advise Clinton supporters. “Just get over it.” That translates to leave us alone and don’t beg us for donations and support. We have seen you as you truly are and feel repulsed by you.

She has topped off as a senator on the back of her hubby, and would be unknown today. Without a shred of class she has used her husband’s accomplishments to make noise and news with her common opinions which are no better than anyone elses I assure you.

ABC and CNN should stop paying her for her views and opinions. When I see Donna on tv I immediately change the station.

HILLARY. Who by the way has the highest IQ of all of the candidates. Which makes sense because women always have to be twice as smart and work twice as hard.

Mike from Texas – ANYONE is better than Bush’s 3rd term – ANYONE but McCain. This war is a crime!!! I’m sick of our brave young men and women dying – for what? OIL???!!! Where are the terrorists Mike? Where is Bin Laden – you know, the one who caused 9/11 – the one who we were to capture 5 years ago! The one why the war started to begin with? After over 4000 our soldiers lives and hundreds of thousands more other lives – where the hell is Bin Laden?! No, our problems with oil and terrorists won’t be solved in a day BUT Obama has a long term plan solution for alternative energy, our withdrawal from Iraq will be done carefully and strategically and sure America won’t be perfect thanks to Bush but it sure will be better than having it continue to run by McBush! This is why i’m voting for Obama! No more death of our young men and women for oil – NO MORE!

Samantha, Obama didn’t run on being the “country’s first black President.” He ran on fixing the direction this country is headed (it’s headed to McCainville — the fall of Rome).
Hillary ran on the goal of making a historic legacy for herself. Her campaign centered around her, her and her. She talked only about being the first woman president, but the problem is, there is far more to the job than ensuring your place in history. It was a pretty selfish campaign, and it showed that until the end.

If Obama was a “junior senator” and Clinton was a “senator” with all sorts of political clout, including a husband who was President for 2 terms, why are so many people responding here crying that Obama, or the “supers”, CHEATED HRC out of the nomination? I mean, if she was so popular and well liked, WHY would enough “supers” and voters end up voting for Obama? He isn’t “teflon” and bloggers aren’t paid to write in for him. HE WON. If people are tired of Bush, why in the world would they vote McCain? To prove they really support Clinton? To “get even”? I honestly don’t understand this reaction among the Clinton supporters.

It is shameful that they decide to say these things now after the way they treated her. Obama is weak, a lightweight in the biggest sense of the word. I hope every conservative Democrat, every woman who has born the brunt of sexism on some level or another, every husband of a hard working woman who makes less than her male counterparts, and every other reasonable, fair-minded Democrat will vote McCain to show the DNC that they are being paid back for shoving Obama down our throats.

EB Jeb: What Law? There are none in the Constitution that cover the selection of a candidate. It is a Party matter. Yes, the Constitution guarantees voter rights in the General Election and there have been subsequent Bills to give women and Blacks the vote. But, both parties could still decide not to have any primaries or caucuses at all and select a candidate for us and it would be perfectly legal. Used to do it mostly that way in fact! America is a Republic.
Other: And, just how do you think Hillary could get elected in 2012 with just her core group? More people will have come of age and the Clinton era will not have any pull on them. And, if Obama loses this election because of HRC supporters’ actions, then she and you will have 18+ million Obama voters to contend with. And, the DNC and big true Democratic backers of which many are her financial contributors will not forget either since Party comes first for them. And, the last I read, many of the Hollywood big names are Republicans!
As for the women leaders some of you mention, most in the Mid-East came from powerful land owning familes who pretty much own the countries. Read Bhutto for that one. It is the European women you need to look at. Just who was Mr. Thatcher to Margaret Thatcher and bet few of you know. Most Brits did not either. Most Germans did not realize that Angela Merkel had remarried and just who was her husband? As it happens Merkel has a PhD in Physics! These women ran strictly on their own merits. Their husbands had never been in politics. That is the woman that I want, not a dynasty. We have one currently sitting in the White House. Never again for me – but then I did not vote for either Bush, but got them anyway.
Will, you racism is showing. I recognize what you are trying to reference in calling Obama Obammy. She used to be a black woman on various products.
But, like I have already said, if you want to take this to the Convention Floor, it is your right, but you have to pay your own way. The money that HRC can contribute to it was provided strictly for the Convention under campaign contribution laws. Some of her $2,300 donors have already given the remaining $2,300 they are allowed to Obama. Aint no more free rides in this life!

I’ve been reading all the posts on here and I’ve see some Republicans and some angry Democrats all against Obama and the whole Nancy Poloci (the witch)group. All this reminds me of the 2006 house election. See people we all can come together and agree on one thing, we know when we see the right president. So please may I ask my Democrat friends are you finally openning your eyes? That’s how the Democrat leaders are they give faults prommises. Words like “American people have spoken…we will bring the troops home if we get elected!” To me those words are nonsense, impossible, and playing the people of America like a yoyo. Last but not least look at the primmary do you see that the Democrat leaders are a bunch of traders? John Kerry endorsed Obama when John Edwards lived and died with him when he was running for president, after that John Edwards latter turned around and endores Obama. Ted Kenedy went and endorsed Obama while he works with the Clintons for many years……so on and so far the whole Democrat team are just a bunch of traders and back stabbing.

They have issue with him, not his skin color, no one really knows who he really is. His personal conections to idiots (i.e. wright and flagler) did not help his personia with those voters. they chose the wrong time to run there hateful spew and tarnished him. his throwing his grandmother under the bus did not help either. We voters of the middle class want to know several things, 1. are we going to get relief from this fiscal crisis that congress and bush have put us in, 2. if attacked by terrorist, is he going to turn the other cheek, or hit them back. what is he going to do to bring this country back together. don’t make this about race, you dishonor your canidate and show how stupid you really are.

Pelosi is a two-faced hypocrite. I can’t even stand to look at that hard, face-lifted face and listen to that hard voice. Howard Dean is an impotent, incompetent, pathetic weakling. Both are hypocrites; Dean waited until Hillary bowed out before condemning the media and the Internet venom against Hillary. If Terry McA was still chaiman of the DNC instead of Dean, Hillary would be the nominee right now. The democratic insiders such as Pelosi would not have been able to force Terry to do its bidding in pushing Hillary out and pushing Obama over the top.
Posted by: JDinCA | June 11, 2008, 12:19 am 12:19 am
What is wrong with Obama wanting to bring hope and change to our blighted inner cities? Is it because most people who live in our blighted inner cities are African-American? Don’t you understand that America becomes a better nation when we uplift ALL of our people? Obama wants to fulfill Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s dream of One America, which does not discriminate against any of citizens because of the color of his or her skin. Why do you oppose Obama for wanting to help needy Americans and to help end Global Poverty?
Posted by: Vernon | June 11, 2008, 12:20 am 12:20 am
@V4H: The election is in November. McCain’s problem is that the sitting President is a Republican and he’ll get tied to the economic woes. Our recession is worse than yours (no, I’m not bragging). Yes, our governor is a moron. But she is term-limited… (by the way, she is a staunch Clinton supporter)

What strikes me is how much fawning everybody has to do to Clinton because she’s intimidating in her ambition. She may just rest up and start anew, challenge the credentials committe (July 31) or run as an independent or somebody else’s running mate. She has told us very repeatedly that she ‘never gives up’ which is commendable unless her primary motivation is selfish and or greedily ambitious. then it’s more pathological. so everybody has to fawn on her but when obama’s selection committee goes around asking people to comment on the VP prospects, is she going to rate highly as a team player, in general ethics, as candid, as constructive? if not, then what? and what about the Peter Paul litigation? I think there are ethics questions that really disqualify her as a VP candidate. what about her rabid supporters? feminist rage is intimidating too. as if the only women who have suffered under patriarchy have been the white ones. i’m a white one but i can read.

Hillary won the popular vote like she ducked sniper fire
How the Clinton camp and Republicans crunch the numbers in Hillary’s favor:
Count all officially sanctioned primaries and caucuses in which exact popular-vote tallies were maintained.
Entirely exclude caucuses held in Iowa, Washington and Maine (which were all won by Obama) because exact vote counts are traditionally not reported to the public.
Entirely exclude the Nevada caucus (which Clinton won by a very narrow margin, and for which the two candidates earned equal delegates) for the same reason.
Add Clinton votes in the Michigan primary in which Obama’s name was not on the ballot. And give NO uncommitted votes to Obama.
Add Clinton and Obama votes in the Florida primary, in which neither candidate was allowed to campaign. The Clintons are extremely well known in Florida, while Obama had little opportunity to introduce himself to Florida voters.
Assume that Clinton has a net gain over Obama of 100,000 delegates in Puerto Rico, Montana and South Dakota (a chancy assumption given low voter turnout in Puerto Rico).
It was just another lie among many

If I was Hillary, I would not take the VP spot on his ticket. She’ll end up doing all of the work while he gets the glory. I too have been deluged with emails from Obama’s campaign and from the DNC begging for money. I hit unsubscribe on evey one but they keep coming. Dean, Pelosi, and company wanted Obama, now let them pay to get him elected. They are all idiots. McCain is looking at Romney, who certainly knows how to turn a buck, and both the FL and LA govs. as possible vps. And they are all young enough to quell the worries over his age. The LA Gov is only 36 and has the experioence of dealing with multiple ethnic and cultural groups being from LA. I really believe we will survive if McCain is elected. I know I would feel safer than with Obama. They have been meeting all day in Europe about what to do about Iran. Can you imagine Obama at those meetings? He would be wanting to have a cook out so they could all sit around the camp fire and sing Kumbaya. The DNC can sit around and think we are all coming together to vote for Obama if they want to. Maybe they’ll realize they are wrong the day after.

I Love Hillary. DON”T ASK her to be
B O’s Veep; she would spend every day cleaning up his gaffes and “boneheaded’ messes!
She deserves so much better than that, and she can play “nursemaid” when Chelsea has twins ;-).
But the idea of taking it to the convention is very appealling; remember, she didn’t concede, and she’s still got her delegates!!!
Country before Party

WHAT IF???

Our nation has just undergone eight terrible years under one of the most dishonest administrations in U.S. history.
No one with anything more than half a brain is going to vote for four more Republican years like that in a hissy fit.
Posted by: Glenda W | June 11, 2008, 12:57 am 12:57 am
Obama has more in common with Bush than McCain ever has.
Both depend on charisma rather than credentials…..both received “special” treatment from friends and family to get ahead….Obama was “given” legislation to pass through IL Senate to add to his resume….he was put on as the chair of a committee that he has never even attended as a US Senator and he relied heavily on Rezko until 2005 both financially and as a mentor. Both have a history of rewarding their “friends” with jobs and pork barrel money…Please note that Obama even gave taxpayer pork barrel money to the hospital that Michelle worked at resulting in her salary being tripled.
McCain is a maverick with a history of reaching across the aisle. He has risked his own standing as a Republican to stand up to many party policies. McCain was the loudest voice to stop the Bush torture policy.
Vote McCain

It wouldn’t have been the case so you have nothing to worry about. It would be wisely to say HE would’ve cleanned up all her messes. It doesn’t matter, she WON’T be the VP
Posted by: PittBull61 | June 11, 2008, 12:59 am 12:59 am
Well said pittbull61. Posting on here saying you will for McCain over Obama because Hillary lost makes you a sore loser. It won’t make me join you. Grow up. Obama dealt with a lot more as a halfie than Hillary did as a woman. There weren’t any polls where 20% of people actually said they wouldn’t vote for a woman, but there were polls that said that for Obama as a black man and yet you all blame Obama for Hillary’s loss. You people have serious issues. BO never complained about that, while Hillary gleamed at the idea, masking it as “working class whites”. GROW UP AMERICA. Stop blaming the media, you choose your own destiny and make your own choices.

Nancy Pelosi can have my seat on the Obama train cause I’m certainly not gonna be on it…
I resent ANYONE telling me to get in line and vote the way they think I should. When a solid candidate is pushed aside as viciously as Clinton was in order to promote a candidate as seriously flawed as Obama, you can bet I will NOT support that flawed candidate, and it has nothing to do with his church or the church’s crazy pastors. It has to with inexperience, poor judgement and lack of sound policy.
So…have a nice ride, Nancy, and take your friends Howard, Patty, Debbie and Harry with you. Good luck when the train crashes!

NOW Pelosi notices the sexism? Now Hillary has stamina and eloquence. What a line of bull. Maybe if the Speaker had noticed the sexism first hurled at her by GW (found new drapes, yet?) she would have spoken up at the first occurrence of this travesty. Maybe she would have stood up against the mysogynistic press. And maybe if Obama wasn’t just looking out for himself, he would have done the same. That, among many other reasons is why I’m not voting for him.

I find it very odd and hilarious that Obama, who wasn’t vetted by the powers that be in the DNC when he decided to run for POTUS is now vetting VP candidates himself! Ha! Based on his criteria, he wouldn’t be his own choice for nominee!

First of all, VERNON, please do not compare Barack Obama to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King was a true African-American, and his dream was for other African-Americans like himself to make good and do good by means of peaceful protest.
Dr. King was not too proud or sexist to have been initially inspired to action by a woman, Rosa Parks, the woman who refused to give up her bus seat to a white man. Good for her. Good for him.
African-Americans who have truly followed the lead of Rosa Parks and Dr. King are the ones who should be ascending to the presidency of this country as a legacy to Dr. King’s dream.
Barack Obama is nothing but a smart mick on the make, and his background has nothing at all to do with the legacy of African-American pride in this country that was exemplified by Dr. King and Mrs. Parks.
When Mrs. Parks passed away a couple of years ago, she became the first female, and second African-American, to ever lie in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Even George W. Bush, as dense as he can be at times, realized the importance of this women to the history of our country.
Dr. King also realized her importance, and following her brave actions on the bus that day, launched his Montgomery bus strike, which ultimately brought the white establishment to its knees, and propelled him to the center stage of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement.
Please find me one instance in the life of Barack Obama (and please do not count the presumptive Democratic nomination that was recently given to him by the DNC and MSM)that in any equals the stature of the accomplishments of these two amazing individuals.

Dean, Pelosi – I can barely write their names without feeling the anger rise! Their PATHETIC attempts to lure Clinton supporters through pandering and after-the-fact apologies WILL NOT SUCCEED. I will do my best to ensure as many Clinton supporters as possible do not vote for Barack Obama and do not fall for the Dean/Pelosi “we feel for you” PROPAGANDA. I am so disgusted with the Democratic Party…words cannot describe how much so. It’s gotten to the point where it’s sheer RELIEF to want to support John McCain just to be no longer associated with the traitors, liars and opportunists that seem to have infected all layers of the Democratic Party. The INSTALLATION of Barack Obama as the party’s nominee began years ago and we all know Dean and his buddies have had a direct hand in the BLOCKING of the most qualified Democratic candidate ever (Hillary Clinton) for the presidential nomination. SHAME ON THEM ALL!

this is equivalent to treason – hurt the best candidate while pretended to be neutral (not to forget the idiot donna brazille) – they want a idiot person to be president just to feed their jealousy of Clintons
Nation needs the best candidate not the mockup empty change fraud

Lee, Obama will go down in history as one of the greatest African-Americans ever.
He is the first African-American Democratic Presidential Nominee, and he will soon be the 44th President of the United States of America.
You can say that Obama does not merit being compared to Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. if you want to, but I bet most U.S. historians will disagree.

Everyone said Obama was being unfairly attacked by Hillary prior to his victory… now that he’s won, why does everyone say she was unfairly attacked?
Sexism – some
Racism – some
Unfair media – some (Wright and ABC drilling without touching Hillary)
Popular vote – both depending how it’s calculated (honestly, you can’t give Obama 0 votes in MI – that’s not fair at all… Edwards, Richardson nor Obama were listed)
It was a rough primary, we were all hurt at some point… but we MUST UNITE – healthcare, NAFTA, oil, social security, college etc. can’t last through another 4 years!!

If she stays in the Senate, she will be the strongest Dem senator, and she can be in the Senate for another 20 or 30 years. But if she goes for VP, 8 years from now, she’s still be young enough to be president. It’s up to her. As a party faithful, I will vote for the Dem ticket, but I wish so much it had been Hillary.

I have been a democrat for many years, and this election year; I will gladly sit this out or vote McCain. If this is how the democrats now elect their nominee by not listening to the will of people; I have no use for the party.

As for his billionaire liberal backing, it is concerning to me, as money talks and Obama will outspend McCain 3 to 1 in many states. Therefor we must work our ##### off to spread the word….COUNTRY FIRST, PARTY/PROMISES SECOND! Obama and Clinton are pretty much standing on the same side of the issues they vote the same 94% of the time). Obama has the young voters who are internet smart and they help spreading his name like a spam. Most of these people, 8 years ago when Bush stole the election were babies, they knew little about what the Democratic party stands for. During the primary, they bashed Hillary as if she were their enemy (they got it so wrong!). For the real party faithful, even though we are so disappointed, we had never talked trash about Obama, and we would vote for him because we believe we cannot take anymore of the Bush/McCain nonsense. All Democrats, please get our priority straight, put aside our personal pain (I do) and vote for the Democratic ticket this Nov. Bin Laden shore to bring the US to it’s
economic knees.
Bush and the Republicans helped by attacking Iraq. We are spoending millions a day and billions a week to fight this war. It has unstablized the region and is the direct cause of our raising gas prices. If the war continues, the draft will need to reinstituted and more innocent soldiers will die.
The next president will be selecting two or three Supreme Court Justices that will no doubt bring about the reversal of Roe vs Wade.
This election is too important for petty arguments about whether Hillary or Obama were offended.
Please vote for McBush to spite Obama if you are willing to see your jobs disappear, and for the rich to continue
becoming more wealthy at the expense of our disappearing middle class.

Whatever happened to balance of power? Clearly the Dems are going to control Congress so why give them a blank check like the Reps have had? Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Regardless of Obama’s qualifications (or lack thereof) keep the checks and balances working. If you’re going to vote in one party to one branch of the govt then vote in the other to the other branch. Never did understand blindly following one party – think for yourselves and force the politicians to compromise and get what’s good for America done and done right.

After 40 years of being a Democrat I am ashamed and shocked with the way the party handled this primary. I did not support Senator Clinton in the beginning but as time went on it was obvious that she is what our country needs right now. Good work on the tall though!

Voted for Hillary and will vote for McCain in November. I am amazed at the argument that McCain will be just like Bush. Don’t you guys remember when the Senator John Kerry asked John McCain to be his VP. John Kerry chose Obama too. Now I wonder why. After the way you have disrespected Hillary during this Primary how in the world can you expect us to even think about voting Obama. It will never happen. It is either Hillary in Denver or McCain in November.

Funny how that rat pack thinks they can make nice now that they shredded Hillary. Too bad Pelosi and Dean. You don’t fool me. I heard you when you threw Hillary away for a young punk with no experience. She spent her life raising money for you and your team and you never expended one ounce of loyalty. Well, get ready. We are going to vote for McCain. Let all the liberals out there know that they deserve desertion. They are not loyal. And if Hillary first, then us… We can do better in 2012.

People vote with their hearts sometimes and for who they like, plain and simple. You cannot talk someone into liking someone. Political promises are often defeated, so you must go with who you like for commander-in-chief.
I wish the McCain bashers would drop the Roe v. Wade, or reinstating the draft and most of all McCAIN IS NOT BUSH. McCAIN WAS DETESTED BY SOME IN HIS PARTY BECAUSE HE IS TOO MODERATE…COURTED BY DEMOCRATS FOR YEARS!
IF I CAN’T HAVE HILLARY I’M OK WITH McCAIN ’08/HILLARY ’12. Please, people vote…don’t sit it out or do a write in. This year will matter more than ever (in my 32 years of voting, I’ve never seen anything dividing the country so much). COUNTRY FIRST, PARTY SECOND.

Debra – i’m just very curious… do you support Hillary for her policies? or do you support her because of who she is (Bill’s wife, a woman, her suits, her smile etc.) IF you just wanna vote for her because of who she is and not what she stands for then i sort of understand. BUT don’t sit here and tell me it’s because of her policies because her policy is almost similar to Obama and it’s the total polar opposite of McCain’s. So, i guess you just like her hair-do why you voted for her because it sure as hell ain’t her policies!

I think that Obama and the DNC keep saying the their party will “come together in November” but are really nervous about it and with good reason. Obama is not working hard enough to win over Clinton supporters and I think he is being quite arrogant in thinking that he will win them over for sure. The more I get to know him and about him, the more I am sure I will never vote for him. McCain ’08

cloud123 – you don’t make sense. I am a Hillary supporter who feels she is closer to McCain in centrist values and will wholeheartedly support Sen. McCain if I can’t vote Hillary.

Mr Read, Mr Dean, Ms Pelosi and the super stupid delegates, wake up! This is the same old same old, you appear to want to repeat the old misktakes again and again….selecting a candidate that cannot make it to the White House.
I’ve done my research on Obama and his campaign tactics and what I’ve learned about this presumptive nominee is very shocking indeed. The fact that the Dems (at least some of them) support him is even more shocking. The Dems most have another agenda for wanting Obama to tbe the presumptive nominee.

Reid, Pelosi and Dean, I want you guys
to listen carefully, all of us Hillary
supporters will be voting for McCain.
There is no way that we are going to vote for Obama…You guys should be ashamed of yourself… I’ve been a democrat for 30 years and just turn independent.
Hillary supporters do not sit this general election…Vote for McCain..
As for HIllARY please do not accept a VP slot with Obama…Let him lose big on his own, because he will lose the GE

The truth is, in politics, Obama and Hilary have almost the same stances on everything. This is why she is supporting him, why she says we need to put the past behind us and vote democratic. This is not an ego trip, it is about our country and the changes we want to make. Whoever our president is, it is important that it is a democrat.

I have to say I helped vote the Democratic Party out of office after eight years of the Clintons. There was just too much dirt building up, and they are just too ruthless for my liking. You hear too many things about what happens to people who cross them
But even for me, enough is enough. I find Democrats saying they will vote Republican just absurd beyond belief, particularly when even many of us more moderate Republicans see this country has gone too far down the road towards becoming a police state.
I am terrified of where four years under McCain will take us, when I look at where we are now. When I first voted for Bush, I had no idea we’d be HERE at this point. I am still scared we’ll be in ANOTHER war before November.
Posted by: American Dreamer | June 11, 2008, 4:57 am 4:57 am
Yeah Tim, I noticed that too. Apart from rather silly, and ultimately ineffective, dirty tricks, the Republicans have nothing.
They think they can fool SOME Democrats into voting for McCain out of resentment, but then they have nothing else. When they come here and pretend to be Democrats, you’ll notice they NEVER have a positive policy agenda of McCain’s they can say they are voting for. NEVER.
They try to come back with the scare politics, basically scaring people by the color of Obama’s skin, but again there’s no positive for McCain there. He hardly made himself white.
The thing about voting for McCain, they are telling us, is all about voting AGAINST something. I’m for Obama partly because ultimately I’d rather vote FOR something. There are no positives for McCain right now, and the Republican Party knows it.
Posted by: Tom Noonan | June 11, 2008, 5:26 am 5:26 am
There is practically no difference between Obama & Clinton on the issues important to all. If a Clinton supporter votes for McCain, the issues are definitely not the reason for that. The problem is in the mindeset of our the dying generation. Thanks God we die out & our children think differently.

Most of your writers are Republicans claiming changing from Dem. Party and vote for MCcain since Hillary didn’t win the nomination contest. They really sound very hateful and that’s one of the signs that indicates these people are Republicans originally
Posted by: BenBennyBen | June 11, 2008, 6:12 am 6:12 am
The reason why Hillary lost the contest was that she refused to distance herself from her husband Clinton. She therefore showed weakness that those who vote for Hillary vote for instead Bill. Another problem was that she didn’t show her feminine nature.
Posted by: BenBennyBen | June 11, 2008, 6:51 am 6:51 am
Hillary’s supporters are doing more harm than good. Governor Rendell said it best when he said you can’t force your way on this ticket. For all we know Senator Obama may have been seriously considering Senator Clinton but he can’t afford to look as though he was blackmailed into putting her on the ticket with threats to not support the Democratic party.
Posted by: kaysha | June 11, 2008, 6:53 am 6:53 am
Its a shame that a democrat can be easily influence by the media into believing that one candidate was mistreated or not treated fairly. you people were never real democrats in the first place, if you even considered switching parties. Unity is the key to any type of change, whether the candidate is Hillary or Obama.
The right to vote for some of us real americans is not a choice its a must.
Since when does inexperience stop any american from being something great. There are quite of few inexperience leaders we have voted in before where change was achieved. The point is alot of you adult voters may want to consider that quite a few young voters read pages like this and wonder why their adult mothers and fathers teach how important it is to vote. But yet they are considering staying home.

Women have been the backbone core of the democratic party and Pelosi Dean and Reid have sh-t on all of these women. We will not forget. This is not the party for us anymore as never really was as evidenced by the defeat of the recent EPA bill that Reid voted AGAINST!!!

All of you people who say you are voting for John McBush since Hillary didn’t get the nomination are clearly IGNORANT to the issues. McCain’s positions are so opposite of what Hillary (and Obama) stand for. Come on folks! I am a staunch Hillary supporter but there is no way that I could, in good conscience, vote for McCain simply because Hillary is not on the ballot. Look at the nominees’ positions on the major issues. Of the two remaining candidates, there is ONE clear choice for moving this country ahead — Barack Obama. Please stop being foolish. We NEED a democrat in the White House!!!
Posted by: Colleen | June 11, 2008, 8:37 am 8:37 am
Hillary supporters- a better choice than McCain is voting for Nader or writing in Hillary. We need to unite all right! We need to unite behind either Nader (whom the DNC & GOP has tried to keep any 3rd party candidate out of the race)or Hillary write in so our numbers have a chance to elect who we want to run this country.

this election counts:
You can start that superdelegate list with Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico.
His state went for Hillary, and yet he very publicly came out and endorsed Obama.
On the other hand, the N.M. Lieutenant Governor, Diane Denish, has been behind Hillary all the way. Should she choose to run for governor in 2010, she will definitely have my vote.
Posted by: Lee | June 11, 2008, 9:27 am 9:27 am
I would not vote for any ticket that has Obama on it.
Not even if Hillary were on it. Not even if Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea came to my house personally asking me to.
Sorry, we are in a war, a recession, the nation is faced with huge problems. How could anyone in their right mind vote for someone whose only experience and body of work is 1 speech in 2004?
He could have easily won the role of the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. Every time I see him I can’t get that song out of my head.
So no thanks, since the DNC sabatoged the smartest of the 3 candidates, I’ll have to go with McCain. At least he has a brain.

Gov Dean–You say Hillary was treated unfairly, yet you did nothing about it. Are you ever going to look into the cable so called news stations, they ridiculed and insulted Mrs. Clinton every step of the way. There are a few cable so called news men who I think want to move to CA and marry Mr. Obama if he will have them. You men at the DNC should have been more visible and involved. Instead Hillary was fighting the good fight with seemingly no real support except her family and hired help.

Obama and the other Dems are arrogant enough to believe those of us who feel ignored and disrespectfully treated will be masochistic enough to vote for Obama in spite of it. The campaign of Obama was honest, fair and successful. Hillary used every dirty trick in the books to try to steal the election. Thank God she lost. Time to get over it. Her day is done. The dirty (remember Mena/cocaine) Clinton style politics failed. Anti-democratic agendas of Bush, Cheney, Rove, etc are the same as those of the Clintons and of course, of John McCain. HRC was never a friend of working people. HRC wanted to trick and use working folks and she was very successful, but thank God she finally lost! Even if HRC supporters do as they threaten it won’t change the outcome: Hillary lost, Obama will win.

I was and am angry at the way Hillary was treated by the media. But I’m not stupid. The Democrats are a thousand times better for women, for mothers, for single mothers trying to raise our families than the Republicans are.
While I’m angry about how Hillary was treated I do not understand people or agree with people who say it was Obama’s fault. I really think we have to rise above that. He would not have been my first choice but I WILL vote for him in November. The important thing in this election is that we get a Democrat in the office again. In the next election, we can try with Hillary again. If we support her now, and that includes supporting her when she asks us to vote for Obama, that strengthens her in the future. I am voting for Obama because he is one thousand times better than Mccain. Look at who Mccain is, he is “bush lite,” and he is the one women ought to be disgusted with. If you can’t work for Obama then work against Mccain.

All three candidates are patriots and deserve our respect or vote, depending on whether he or she fits our interests, backgrounds and aspirations for the country. No need for anger and insults. The person who has the most goodwill and respect will win in November, regardless of the past.
And a few facts:
The most inclusive way to count the primary votes includes Michigan, a state in which 3 Democratic candidates stayed on the ballot (which was legal) and the rest (including Obama) asked to come off the ballot.
The total popular vote (from realclearpolitics.com website):
Clinton 17,822,145 Obama :17,535,458
If you include IA, NEV, ME etc caucuses:
Clinton 18,046,007 Obama: 17,822,145

I hope that we members of the Dem party.will come together in November, and support Senator Obama. It’s easy to hide in or behind a blog/blogs and say hateful things about someone else, but after all he is on our side. I’m sure many of you passionate people believed strongly about some things has far back as elem.school, maybe college, or even as an adult. You may have run for some type of office,(maybe not on as large of a scale)you may have been considered the underdog, and some people hated your guts, however if you won the contest fair and square, should the preset rules be changed (due to some other measuementent of success)in favor of one of your competetors or the other side? should the people who said that were part of your team, now support the other side? No, The issues are too important!to hold such grudges. If you can’t see why sould vote for Senator Obama, for yourself, then think about your daughters ans sons or even grandduaghters and grandsons. Don’t be selfish. One thing that comes up is the word experience. No one can have experience being the president unless they have been the president, so even if Senator Clinton has been in the White House she it was not there the commander and chief.

In the year 2000, McCain WAS a fantastic choice versus George W.Bush. It was KNOWN that GWB was an idiot and that all of his business pursuits failed.
In 2004, Kerry was not my choice — Dean was. But Dean didn’t win the party nomination, Kerry did, so I voted for Kerry.
In 2008, John McCain does not even slightly resemble the politician he once was. He has changed considerably over these last eight years and it is too hard to tell who he is. His stances change over the course of one interview, even one speech. He’s confusing! He’s confused. He can’t even read a teleprompter — his own campaign complains about this.
What does he really believe? His only messages that are clear and he testifies to them:
….. he’s against finance corruption (which is what captured my attention about him in 2000 — so far his only plus+)
….. he’s against personal rights
….. he’s against women’s rights
….. he’s against personal choices
Although God has given everyone Free Will, Republicans want to take it away.
….. he’s against veterans extended benefits
….. He’s for more war
….. He’s for fewer benefits for veterans. Why? To keep them enlisted longer. To make them re-enlist.
….. He’s admitted he knows nothing about the economy
….. He’s admitted he knows nothing about technology
….. He’s admitted he knows nothing about ecology and the environment
….. and He’s admitted he’s energy illiterate
What is McCain for? ONLY MORE WAR! And a destroyed economy to keep the people poor. He wants more poor women to have children. He needs his army for 100 more years.

I just can’t understand why those 17,822,145 (or whatever number they want to throw out) voters can’t send her a couple dollars (figure that). Surely God will reward those who are HONEST and respectfully of other human beings. Now I’m not saying that winners should bow down to losers.

Debra,
A vote for Nader/Gonzalez is not a wasted vote! A vote is a voice and each person has the right to make their own choice!
Many Third Party candidates and their supporters do not get a voice because of ballot obstruction and also having their candidates MIA from the MSM and the debates also due to obstruction from the two party system.
Talk about disenfranchised, that would be Third Party candidates and their supporters!
I was a JRE supporter, than followed and supporter Hillary once she picked up more on John Edwards populist and progressive issues.
Now I feel Nader/Gonzalez is the most representive of the populist
progressive movement!
So I ask you, do not label Nader/Gonzalez a “wasted vote” because that really would be equavalent to Obama supporters telling Hillary supporters that if they write her in, the vote is a waste!
“We the people”, one vote, one voice!
vote Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzalez
Dean and Co has spent a lot of time trying to block him from the ballots and debates!
What are they afraid of?

What change has Obama brought to Illinois?
Like the south-side of Chicago where Obama once represented the poor people there.
He promised them HOPE and CHANGE when he ran there but the poverty stricken there NEVER saw the “hope and change”.
Instead Obama has moved on to bigger and better things, AGAIN promising HOPE and CHANGE to the America people.
Well if American”s vote on “performance” on November 4th then McCain will win in a landslide.
If they vote based on great “feel-good” speeches then nothing will change.

elva vansant – you express what I feel as well. We have not been well represented by the deomcratic party. Our needs are grossly unmet- in fact not even acknowledged as worthy of action. We are taken for granted by the deomcratic party and betrayed. Pelosi is a disgrace and should be removed. Dean should be removed as head of the DNC. Their continued support and positions by Obama reinforce his unwillingness to respect and connect with women voters. Women- vote for Nader since they won’t give us the candidate we voted for. Our votes for HRC in caucuses and sections counted as 1/2 a vote where others got a full vote. It is time women were taken seriously and if the DNC hasn’t after all these years-we need to find our own party/candidate. I have been a democrat all my life- giving $- no more. If all of us women unite behind Nader- who is closer to HRC on the issues than McCain is – then our needs will be met and we can make a positive difference in the Nov. election.

Perplexed, I agree with the last part of your comment, and most of what fempharoh08 said
It is sad to know that people can say such hateful things about someone they don’t even know. But that’s alright, just because they say it, doesn’t make it so. However the voting against someone who is trying to make our lives a little bit better, before we leave this earth, out of spite, prejudice or what ever, is wrong.

The Democratic party is not the one that I have grown up with. They no longer seem concerned about the voters, they just want to skip all that voting stuff and install a candidate. Caucuses mean little because they have limited access to the voters. I do not like the way the Obama campaign has targeted young people creating division in some families as well as the party. It’s just plain scary. I won’t vote for Obama, not now, not ever. I want my vote to count for something–like in a real democracy.

The media treated Hillary Clinton like dirt and posted only wonderful things about Obama. If you wanted to get the truth about Obama, you had to hunt for news sites that reported fairly. Clinton was treated by the media exactly the way Bush was treated. The media had their own agenda in wanting to destroy Bush. Bush has been a wonderful President, and Hillary would have made one as well.

AS a HRC supporter who gave her campaign money – I will now vote for Nader. McCain is not an option. Interesting fact- my 21 yr old son donated money $200 to Obama’s campaign – and he decided 2 months ago to vote for Nader. He said he could not support Obama and Nader is very intelligent and experienced. How many young voters has Obama lost since the earlier primaries as well?
Posted by: this election counts | June 11, 2008, 3:00 pm 3:00 pm
JKR wrote, “the Obama campaign has targeted young people creating division in some families.”
Targeted? Really?
He “appealed” to them. Just as Hillary “appealed” to many (not all) women. Just as John Edwards appealed to poor southern Blacks.
Created division? Really?
Did you feel the same as your parents about ALL matters? Did your parents approve of EVERYone you dated?
After I was born, my parents moved to a decent neighborhood ensuring I attended good public schools. Later, they invested in my college education. Why? So I could think for myself, make my own educated decisions, and not rely on anyone else for my personal well-being.
When I was a teenager, we disagreed on politics, capitalism/economics, and even religious Holidays. My parents did not approve of everyone I dated — but they trusted my judgement and knew when I became serious, I would choose the right partner. They were also proud of my career — even though I chose not to follow the path of my family.
As I’m sure the families you speak of respect their children’s choices and delight in their passion and enthusiasm even though they may disagree. For this is how intelligent people behave.

As a native Californian and lifelong Democrat, I’ll be voting “present” in November.

I’m a progressive Dem who strongly supported Clinton through the long, illuminating, and often infuriating and deeply disspiriting primary campaign.
The relentless Clinton-hating media bias; the rampant Obama-mania disconnected from substantial matters such as, um, like, qualifications for the presidency and electoral realities in the fall; the disgusting failures of the DNC and party superdelegates to rise above weasel politics and “nomination math games” and get real about matters of general-election electability, winning voting coalitions, endgame momentum, and swing-state viability …
… not to mention Obama’s thin resume, troubling political history marked equally by counterproductive rigidity, unsavory compromise, and questionable associations …
… and lacking evidence of both accomplishment, deep and complex knowledge of the world, or the bipartisan deftness he trumpets.
There is nothing whatsoever to suggest that Barack Obama is qualified or prepared to be a great president, or a good one, or even, sorry, a competent one. Although the media wanted to focus on personalities and on the vagaries (often media-manipulated) of the daily horse race, the contrast with Hillary Clinton in terms of experience, knowledge, and accomplishment couldn’t be more stark.
Obama succeeded in the end in “nailing the math” against Clinton, but many of us do see this as a dire development: The strongest candidate got knocked out of contention.
And so we are saddled with the weakest Dem nominee in years, perhaps the only one who could make a McCain victory likely.
I can muster no enthusiasm for Obama, and that’s not going to change. I will cast a vote for him as a way of voting against the pro-war and anti-choice conservative nutbag McCain.
It’s not progressive Dems like me you have to worry about, folks–we’re not going with McCain. The problem is those swing-voters who are by definition not necessarily true-blue Dems. They swung from Clinton (Bill) to Bush. They would swing again to Clinton (Hillary).
But with Obama the nominee, they will swing to McCain. Every analysis of electoral patterns, every shred of polling and demographic data, every bit of electoral research, makes this clear.
And so we will lose in the fall, when with Hillary we could win. AND THE SUPERDELS COULD STILL FIX THIS AT THE CONVENTION, if only they would, please, please, please . . .

Their unity in graciousness toward Hillary is a little late and looks so insincere. It looks like they are having a tough time making the sale for unity. Reid could have done better not using all of the baseball jargon. When all else fails, talk about sports and winning the game. What an analogy! Sounds like Obama can play all bases by himself. However, when you lose half of your team, the game gets a little tougher.

Keep telling yourselves the HRC supporters are uneducated. Actually, with computers even those without college degrees are amazingly well informed on many current issues. Personally, I do have a college degree but I still respect those who do not. The blue collar workers are often the most honest, hardworking, loyal people in this country. To mock them shows an elitism and lack of connection with the common man that is despicable.

I’m so tired of hearing about “old politics” What exactly dose that mean? It’s just a selling point to draw in younger voters. The DNC thought students and the 30′something crowd would bring in more money and win the election. They didn’t count on Hillary being so popular blue collar, union, rural farming communities and women. They were shocked that so many people actually liked what she had to say. And gave her value for her accomplishments. So they left it to the media to trash her at every turn. Bill Clinton a racist come on! Twist and turn. Then puff up Obama, give him air time. The DNC is a joke. They sure didn’t count on the backlash, that’s for sure. And by the way, it’s not just women who are furious.Obama is young, that dosen’t mean he is the only one with new ideas. Or good ideas. Every speech I see on TV he changes his numbers. He makes it up as he goes along, thinking he’s above the fray.

Another Californian who will probably write in Hillary, very unlikely to vote for Obama as I truly don’t trust him as a leader.
This is not Hillary’s fault or bitterness. Obama has alarmed me many times with his flimsy answers and lack of integrity. It’s one thing to try to exclude the voters of two states, it’s another to do so when your whole platfrom is a ‘new kind of po
litician’ with transcendent integrity and honesty.
If not for Roe v. Wade I’d probably vote McCain at this point.

So: no chances for Hillary for VP; no chances to help her pay her debt because Obama’s base have raw nerves from the campaign. But they need her to campaign for Obama; they need Bill to campaign as well; they need her donor list to contribute to Obama; they need her votes. I just wonder which planet Obama and DNC are in. This country has never been governed by a leftist liberal, regardless of color.

Change….change…change…Give me a break! Obama has been shown to be surrounded and supported by racist’s, elitest’s and crooks. Is this really who we want in the most powerful position in the world? Is he really what we stand for? The only change I want is to replace Obama with Hillary. Until that time I will just change the channel every time he comes on the television and will vote for McCain when the time comes.

I am still waiting for Obama to step up to the plate and show some leadership. He totally lost the debate in Philadelphia and refused to debate again. He made disparaging comments about people in rural PA. He continued to insist he was right, but he never stepped foot in rural America after that. He prances in front of the teleprompter making the “dust off gesture”, but never got back on the horse that threw him. He owes too many people political favors. He uses people as long as they are politically expedient then states that he never knew them.
His whole handling of the Johnson situation was abysmal. Comparatively speaking the Johnson situation was “nothing” ..what is he going to do when it is really “something”.?
He wants to be president of our 57states. Then he has got to step up to the plate and show a little talent for the position

Wake up people, this is a no brainer! You are getting the shaft!!! Please put the kool-aid down and fight for your democratic principles!!!

Talk about health care: Seniors are hoping that the government doesn’t mess with them too much if or when health care reform gets underway. Each year they are faced with two new 8×10 booklets with umpteen pages explaining increases in costs of Medicare Part A Deductible; Part B Premiums and Deductibles; Supplemental Insurance Premiums, and then came Medicare Part D (DRUGS) in 2006. Government and Ins. Companies teamed up, and Seniors haven’t recovered financially or mentally since. It is like a D…(word used at Chicago TCC) FULL TIME JOB for some old folks or caregivers.
Those who entered the drug program receive two more 8×10 books annually, a Notice of Renewal and Evidence of Coverage. These books have approximately 89 pages of ink. The Annual Notice of Renewal has a list of every prescription DRUG on the market. The Evidence of Coverage has instructions for filing grievances. One booklet contains a list of pharmacies in their state. Some pharmacies will call seniors, reminding them not to FORGET to BUY their D… DRUGS … well, druggies, I mean druggist don’t use that word.
The increase in Social Security benefits is usually devoured by the increase in insurance premiums and deductibles. Do seniors have any rights to appeal? When they count the COST of health care, their D… appeals are limited. After the applications are completed, and the the ball starts rolling, it is almost impossible to communicate unless the D… MONEY stops flowing.

Some people confuse PRIMARIES with the GENERAL ELECTION. Wow! It seems that the only butt left to vet belongs to the rock star. The vetting continues to show his lack of experience and knowledge, and the vetting is not over, unless you consider CNN and MSNBC. Those who think the media coverage was fair must have been watching those two that make a mockery out of fair journalism. Those who think the Democrat Party was fair must be brand new to the game. Who died and made you God? This campaign is not over, and my bet is on the war hero who is experienced, knows the issues, knows the ramifications of our military strategies, is a moderate who can work across the aisle to bring change, and has the maturity and confidence to talk straight. There is no need for him to double-talk.

Dear Pseudo Hillary Clinton Supporters:
Where were you when she needed you? What were you doing when you could have helped?
In her speeches, she almost always asked for money. As late as June 3, 2008, after the South Dakota primary, she was begging for cash.
She wasn’t ready to concede! Where were you? She wanted to fight! Where were you?
If you’re such an avid Hillary Clinton supporter, why is her campaign nearly $30,000,000.00 in debt? $30 million. Thirty Million Dollars!
If Hillary has eighteen million voters who have her back, each could have contributed $1.67 more so she could remain a viable candidate. Just one dollar and some change!
Shame on you!

The news media got the nomination for Obama by talking about him 24/7 like he was Christ risen and come back to earth to save us all. They talked about Senator Clinton as if she was the Anti-Christ. I’ve never seen anyone treated as unfairly as she was. I will never vote for Obama. I’d rather have 4 years more of Republician rule than 8 years of Obama. My motto is Hillary in 2012.

I cannot and will not vote Obama when I know that Hillary is the better for the job. He may be the presumptive nominee but he has not yet been nominated. It’s beyond offensive to watch these party “elder” try to get the women who support Hillary back into the fold. Not gonna happen. Do they really think that they can abuse the women candidate, get their newest good ol’ boy into office, and then turn around and ask if we back them up. I can’t even believe they would try it. Pelosi, Dean, Kerry — they can all just take the democratic party and go fly a kite with it. I am no longer want to be affiliated with the paryt. Now they are singing her praises?
When they stood by as she got bullied and hammered with sexist remarks by the MSM?
If the best Harry Reid can do is compare Senator Obama to an all star baseball player, it shows what a weak candidate they have? Why? Because he hasn’t really done anything! He’s a Jr. first term Senator.
How the Dems picked a rookie as their nominee is beyond me.
Posted by: Evelina | June 12, 2008, 3:26 am 3:26 am
Dear Evelina,
I don’t believe they are really singing Hillary’s praises either. They are merely trying very hard to pay her some respect even though she showed NO ONE any respect during her campaign — at least not in the last five months.
… Did she pay any respect to the Democratic Party when she pledged to abide the rules?
… Did she pay any respect to her Party or opponents when she said she would stick to “the issues” and run a clean campaign?
… Did she pay any respect to Americans who supported her when she constantly referred to them as “uneducated,” “undereducated,” or “lesser educated?”
… Did she pay any respect to her supporters who were NOT “hard working Americans, White Americans?”
… Is is respectful to continuously lie to those who are in favor of you? We were aware of her “experience.” There was no need for her to try to inflate it. Her earliest experiences, before she married Bill, was enough to carry her over-the-top. Was she not proud of her civil rights experiences? Why did she feel the need to hide it?
… Did she respect any of us, especially those of us who are NOT MILLIONARES, by wasting our hard-earned dollars through frivolous spending?
… Did she respect HERSELF by posing as someone she is not? Why does she not value her brains, her moral character, her stances on real issues? This is where she lost me. Why did she feel the need to “pose” as a gun-totin’, NASCAR drivin’, whiskey shootin’, beer guzzlin’ bimbo? When the REAL HILLARY is so far removed from all that?
… Did she respect herself by pushing a miserable economic ploy, when with all of her good sense, her ivy league education, and high paid expert consultants KNEW it was a poor tactic and would not pass.
… Did she respect herself by spending more than $300,000,000.00 [THREE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS] on hoaky campaign ploys — “needlessly” when Americans knew who she was and knew what her policies were?
She wasted so much money — just in 2008. Imagine her fiscal policy while we’re in the worst recession in decades.
I suspect her former supporters recognized this when they chose not to give her more money — escpecially when only $1.67 more was needed from each of them.
Only one dollar and some change, $1.67 which is less than the price of:
… a movie ticket
… a gallon of gas
… a pack of cigarettes
… a bottle of beer
… an ice cream bar.
I suspect her supporters saw her wasting their money and decided they would not sacrifice one dollar more.
How the Dems picked a rookie is because that rookie exercised better judgement, better management, displayed a better temperament and better character. He played by the rules as agreed upon at the start of the race. When asked to tone it down, he did; she didn’t. And the voters made their choice.

Hi david from texas.
The wonderful thing about being a citizen of the United States is that we are all individuals and can express ourselves without retribution.
The hard thing about being a politician, even you can agree, is that he is in office to do the bidding of the United States “general public.” Now when everyone has an individual concern, a different opinion, a separate interest, it will be very difficult to make everyone, even a majority, happy.
What makes it even harder for Obama is he opposes the stronghold special interests has on our politicians, our government, our country.
Obama wants to restore US Democracy to its citizens — the majority. And “The Top 2%” will not permit that. That is his purpose for not accepting money from lobbyists, etc. He wants to serve the will of “The People” and those in Washington with experience, with expertise, with connections, with money, are enslaved by corporate interests and cannot help him.
This is why Hillary Clinton and John McCain mocked him and called him naive, an idealist.
Obama is an idealist because he chooses to “Fight the Power.” And while doing so, he has to be careful of his every word, his every action, his every association. But its his choice.
Even you can recognize that is a daunting task given the hold that “money,” “special interests,” “corporations,” and even FOREIGN INVESTORS, have on our country.
Questions for you and fun facts to research:
… How many of our sea ports are owned by Middle-Eastern nations?
… How many large “US Corporations” are not even owned by US citizens?
… How much money [$TRILLIONS] is our government indebted to Foreign countries, countries who government is not even a Democracy, but Communist?
… Which countries do the United States owe the most money?
Obama has core values. Only the corrupt politicians, fearful, hateful and spiteful US citizens refuse to recognize them.
Our “FREE” United States of America is under worse threat of foreign ownership than it is a terrorist attack. The Top 2% have theirs; they’re not worried about the rest of us.

Obama is the biggest farce that is continually shoved in our throats. This goes back as far as 2004 when he spoke at the convention. Even as an Illinois Senator Obama was given national press. Dean and the rest of the DNC have stood back and let Clinton take a beating from CNN and MSNBC, while carefully crafting the “Obama brand”, especially on the young.
Posted by: evie | June 12, 2008, 9:29 am 9:29 am
Dean, Pelosi, and Reid (the 3 stooges) need to get over themselves. The 3 of them along with Obama has completely divided the Democratic Party. With all the lies and fraud that went on during the primary, I have not desire to support the DNC or its selected candidate. The voters chose Hillary but the 3 of them ignored that one small fact. So no, I will not vote for Obama!
Posted by: Vici | June 12, 2008, 9:36 am 9:36 am
You know what really messed up this Democratic Primary? EGOS
The State of Michigan’s Representatives
—————————————
By their desire to push their primary ahead of schedule despite the known rules, despite the warnings — and for what? I still don’t get that decision.
The Clintons, Bill & Hill
—————————————
For believing they’re entitled to anything despite their own actions and disregarding the consequences. They had enough support: Loyalists, Women, Blacks, and Latinos.
In their haste to court the “hard working Americans, blue collar Americans, White Americans” after John Edwards dropped out of the race, they squandered their base with their offensive pandering and negative attack ads. You can’t turn people off and remain “popular.”
Would’ve. Could’ve. Should’ve.
Oh well, it’s time to move on.
I pray that everyone votes for his/her own best interests…
based on the important issues of economy, healthcare, global standing, defense, and personal rights and freedoms…
and not out of spitefulness and hatred.
And may the best candidate win.
If you’re a believer, may God Bless You All.

I am perplexed! Is someone trying to use psychology on the voters who have no intention of voting for Obama? Pretending to empathize, then trashing Hillary, then preaching the greatness of Obama, then trashing McCain shows a lot of double-talk. Just like Obama! I am still searching for his core values you speak about.
Working in tandem with other would-be psychologists doesn’t work either. Sooner or later, you are caught up in double-talk.

Cult like support is accurate. I’ve never seen such blind enthusiasm – for what? He’s simply not qualified. BTW, if you want to stop getting his e-mails you have to actually go to his website and request to be removed. He took over Hillary’s website and probably carried on about how many more doners he got when her supporters were still trying to help her out – NOT him. Definetely voting McCain in November. Hate how BO is trying to steal all of Hillary’s ideas as if he had a clue. It’s like watching him poach all her ideas during the nomination process. I will NOT ‘fall in line’. I know McCain is prolife, but trust a democratic congress not to authorize an extreme judge to the supreme court. I also trust McCain and his experience to work with Democrats to effectively change our government for the better. He is not Bush and I’m not that dumb to believe everything BO spews as gospel. That type of hype is just over the top.

Hi Georgia.
“trying to use psychology”
“double-talk”
from me?
Oh heckys no!
I consider myself an open-minded, progressive individual. And being open-minded allows me to view issues from many perspectives, whether I agree with them or not.
And in different company, I use different language. It’s called “effective communication.” It may appear to some as “doubletalk.”
And unlike some, I’m not afraid of looking in the mirror or accepting my mistakes. And once I realize the truth of a matter, I do not displace blame if the fault is mine. I also recognize that although I am spiritual, I am also imperfect.
I also recognize that people are complex and their experiences extreme. There will NEVER be a “one size fits all” solution.
And for now, I do accept, that despite the ugliness, despite the stupidity, in this country, where I was born, where I choose to live, the majority rules.
I will admit that in the year 2000, after Al Gore, John McCain was my candidate of choice — since Hillary Clinton was not an option.
In the year 2004, since Al chose not to run again, Hillary didn’t run, and Dr. Howard Dean wasn’t the Democratic nominee, I voted for John Kerry. And my Kerry vote was a NO MORE BUSH protest vote. He was not my ideal candidate.
In 2008, with more time on my hands and the ability to conduct my own research… Although I initially wanted Hillary, Obama won me over. Her stance on Iraq was the kicker. I always knew it was a lie and never accepted how she couldn’t. Additionally, some of her other positions — out of her own mouth: “I voted for it but hoped it wouldn’t pass” — just proved that she would throw The People under the bus to stay in bed with special interest groups. The longer the race went on, the more Hillary showed me was not “ready on day one.” And I’m glad she stayed in it until the end so I could see that she sold her soul, if she ever had one.
Regarding John McCain: Either he changed or I got to know him better. Either way, he will never get my vote. In my opinion, he needs medical/psychiatric treatment — or it’s simply time for him to retire. He’s not the man that we want to believe he once was. He’s unstable.
Regarding Barack Obama:
From personal experience, I know you can have less experience,
…a sound education,
…be a fast learner,
…a hard worker,
…employ smart, energetic and resourceful people,
…make efficient use of current technology,
and outperform others.
His lack of experience does not frighten me. Why? Because his staff, his cabinet, the Congress and Senate have experience. I agree with his policies and the DNC ideals.

I am a Hillary supporter and I will never vote for Obama. I am sick and tired of the democratic party telling me to get in line and do what they say. If Hillary is not on the ballot I will vote McCain.

Hi Denise.
I do not believe that anyone who truly believes he/she hates Obama would elect him president even if Hillary is his running mate. And I don’t believe Barack will choose Hillary as his Vice President — just my belief though.
But to elect McCain, with his GOP policies, is baffling to me. His positions are the extreme of Hillary’s.
However, if Hillary had won and Obama had lost, I’d probably be feeling just like you. Because today, I could not force myself to vote for Hillary Clinton either. And I’d be reluctant to vote for Obama if he chooses her as his running mate. Yet, I would not vote against my own personal welfare out of spite and elect this current administration for a straight third term. I have good enough sense not to vote for McCain. I’d probably just try to pressure Obama & the DNC to remove Hillary from the ballot.
Maybe you should consider that tactic and write to the DNC and your elected state officials.

Donna Brazile stated she would resign if super delegates decided the nomination.
I challenge you, Donna Brazile, keep your word, RESIGN TODAY!

I say Hillary deserves the VP slot and she did an incredible job with her million of supporters. But why oh why of why all the cry-baby stuff? She treated Obama like dirt and she lost the election all by herself. Grow up people, and if you want to support McCain just go do it! But careful what you wish for–

No, Hillary did NOT take as much money from the drug co. execs or oil co. execs as your boy Obama did!!! Do you remember John Edwards pointing out in the debate that Obama had surpassed all candidates in drug co. money?! Obama couldn’t refute it, how is it that you can?!?! Obama’s 10 largest bundlers are billionaires. I know my candidate, Hillary, took special interest money, but she didn’t lie to her supporters as Obama did telling us she didn’t!! She’s far more genuine than fluff boy.
Her healthcare plan scared the hell out of you huh?!? I guess you differ from most of the nurses, because Hillary had the nurses assoc. backing her whereever she campaigned.

Pelosi has not delivered most of the things she promised when she took office! All she did in this campaign is to stab Hillary in the back and bully people in supporting Obama.
The party under her and Dean no longer listens to people’s voice. Proof: Hillary is ELECTED by the people while Obama is selected by these insiders.
Voting for Obama is to run the risk of having another Bush’s 1st term, an inexperience president with a weak congress who can only say yes! McCain is centrist and experienced and the check and balance is exactly what we need as a country with a Repub president and Dem congrats! One party is too corrupt as we see by the results of the Democrats primaries when people’s voice was completed ignored!

If you people who keep repeating this is out of “spite” want to unite with anyone I think it would be in the best interests of the country if you stopped saying that. It’s not true. I have listened to these very legitimate complaints and they are valid in many cases. If they were not people would “go through five stages of grief” and be done with it.
There was quite a bit of gaming of the system that went on. It’s unprecedented to call for a candidate this close in a race to get out of that race. In the past it would as the process allows for always go to the convention. It should and there never should have been cries for her to get out when she was neck and neck all the time with Obama. The caucus state cheating and ridiculousness needs to be taken seriously and looked into. Then get rid of them. They represent almost no one. And you certainly dont’ pre load certain states in favor of one candidate over the other. Brazile my eyes are on you. She’s a disgrace and needs to step down. Look into what she pulled off here closer for yourself.
I don’t think this is about Obama or Clinton. I think it’s about people feeling that the true will of the most voters was ignored. A lot of people in America feel that is a basic right and it should never be toyed with in any way.
Another thing is that in this race suddenly the pundits are saying as a mantra that it’s all about the delegates…well that’s not necessarily true. Brazile herself said it a few months ago. In Florida last race it was all about popular votes and she was up in arms. Earlier in this race she said she would quit the party if the delegates decided this.??? No of course that doesn’t work in the favor of the candidate SHE selected so here we go.
I think they were crazy to run these two against each other and then sit quite for such vile comments in the media. It fanned the flames of divisiveness. Then they further of course blamed Clinton for their own actions and inactions. Now they are burning down their own house and eating their own.
It’s a debacle and a shame because no matter who they anointed in the end with things this close, this historic and this slanted they were asking for trouble.
I can’t vote Obama because of some of the things I saw his campaign do while saying they were not doing those very things. Painting Clinton with the race brush and then accusing her of wishing Obama harm in a press release that was twisted as could be. I blame Axelrod who ran Obama’s campaign worse than ANY republican smear machine I ever saw. I won’t get behind that and Obama had to know. He used a lot of hatred to gain favor and said nothing.
As to the rule bending and breaking that the DNC did because yes, they broke their own rules when it suited them…there are people now looking into a law suit. I don’t blame them.
Something is really rotten here and people are outraged at having the system so gamed this way. The DNC deserves to go down for the way they handled this whole thing. These idiots don’t care about your vote no matter who you voted for. It was about selecting the candidate who could pull in more MONEY for their little party. You know the party who cannot put up an electable candidate for president no matter what they do. They were desperate and wanted a “new” bunch of rich donors. SOROS ran the whole thing and if Obama wins he will control a lot of things I don’t think I want him to have his filthy hands in.
Many people are very concerned that they were played here and that their votes ought to count for something and not be gamed around with. They’ve held their nose and marched party line for a long time. The party got bolder and kept up the b.s. Now they are revolting against this because they feel their IS a higher principle here and you will see that or not. That principle is that their votes ought to matter above everything else. If we don’t stop their little chess game wherein we are the pawns now, that next time it just wont’ matter.
You might as well forget about voting and let the DNC tell you ahead of time who they favor and stay the hell home. Brazile said it herself on national t.v….I think people feel they need to stop someone who wants a certain block of voters to NOT VOTE at all so she can fulfill an agenda.

P.S. Howard Dean your echo effect caused a lot of this damage and you are next to go. Step down. You are a disgrace. Dems shouting down dems till they just give up, great way to inspire “unity” gang. Way to go.
And people wonder why there are dems jumping ship?? I don’t. I’m disgusted with this entire thing. Sexism, and hate used to shove one candidate down. Hate speech all over the net. NO civil debate on Kos, My DD, and certainly not on Huffington Post…moveon shoving out half the people who supported them in favor of one inexperienced candidate.
This whole thing reeks to high heaven. Have “hope” though because the entire mess is going to be exposed. Oh yes, it is. Meanwhile voters they won’t “need” in the G.E. continue to be labeled instead of listened to and are jumping ship as fast as they can.

Republicans use racist fear of the black man while they continue to screw over whites and everyone else as they laugh all the way to the bank.
Yep, republicans are counting on whites to ignore 7 years of getting screwed without vaseline because they think fear of blacks will trump any problems they have with bush/cheney and mccain.

Obama will never pick Hillary as VP – Wright, Michelle and the Unity Church will not allow Barack to do that.

This thread cracks me up. It’s clear to see that the Repubs are panicking now that the dem primary is done. Poor McCain. Saying one stupid thing after another. He can’t even count on evangelists this time around. What a lark. And for all you “Hillary supporters” who are voting for McCain… like you were ever democrats in the first place. Nice try.

BTW, I want to thank all the Hillary supporters voting for Mac. I was worried as Hell back in January b/c we didn’t have any real candidates. I figured the only hope we had was Obama and Hill canceling each other out. Thanks for the save!

Obama is a whimpy little liberal, who is going to be a DNC puppet on a string. Just like Bush Jr. was for the RNC.
Won’t do a Town Hall Debate because he knows he suks at them, unless of course he has a prepared question and answer sheet in front of him.

Obama will debate him soon enough. For the time being, he’s giving Big Mac some more time to hang himself. McCain is his own worst enemy.
