House Approves Money for Wars, Domestic Spending Programs

ABC News’ Dean Norland Reports: The United States House of Representatives Thursday night approved a spending bill to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also to fund some domestic programs.

There were two votes.

The first vote was on the $161.8-billion to fund the wars. The vote tally 268-yeas, 155-nays. Rep. John Tierney, D-Mass., announced the vote at 2004.

The second vote was for domestic programs, including 13-weeks of additional unemployment benefits, a significant increase in GI bill benefits for veterans and money to replenish emergency relief accounts that have been drained because of Midwest flooding. That vote total was 416-yeas, 12-nays. Rep. John Tierney D-Mass., announced the vote at 2013.

Since the House was voting to amend a bill that had been sent to it by the Senate, there was No third or final overall vote. The bill, as amended, was sent back to the Senate for final congressional consideration.

I just give up. I can’t believe they
would give Bush more money for his war.
I will not vote for any of them when their
re-elections come up for voting to give
him more money. The ones who voted
against it God Bless them.
Bush is a very sick person if you want
to call him that. Obama, Obama, hurry
into the White House. Please help us clean out the dirt and scum.

The same who complain that Congress doesn’t get anything done are first in line to complain when they do get something done. Like it or not, the Congress has a country to run – the problem is there is a madman driving the bus.

I m trying very very hard to like Michelle Hussein Obama.

Considering they all voted for the war. They vote to fund the war, Now they vote to continue funding it.
They used the war for propaganda to gain votes in the election.
Blaming bush for the war and cost of the war, and telling the people it effected everything in their lives.
To turn people away from voting republican, and Gain complete Control over the government.

Susan, you’re pathetic……

Posted by: Redneck | June 20, 2008, 12:25 am 12:25 am

I’m pathetic, why because I care for
our military. When they have to go
fight in a war make it a just war.
That America is in real danger and they
are to protect her. Lies!!!! NO!!!!
Anyone who voted for Bush ought to be
ashamed. Well the first time he cheated
his way in, but the second my goodness,
you get what you deserve a failed President and his failed policies.
Obama all the way. We need real man
and a real President for America.
Don’t be so jealous of Obama!!!!
Our military deserves the best we have
to give them. Bush is a failure.

Obama has a yellow streak all the way down his back.
He wants to disarm us, not defend us. He wants to cut defense and defense spending.
His many stay is social issues. That might be the only thing he might know a tiny bit about. The rest he is clueless about.
If you Love America, Don’t vote for obama

Posted by: seah | June 20, 2008, 1:02 am 1:02 am

If you love America don’t vote for
McCain. Where are the Weapons of
Mass Destruction. None!!!
Can’t find Bin Laden!!! Wonder Why!!!!
Look Deep and you will find answers.
Bush!! Bush!!! is a failure as McCain
will be. I could go on and on.
Where is billions of dollars that
can’t be found that were sent to Iraq.
I wonder??? Don’t cry to me when you
have no Jobs, can afford college for your children, can’t eat, can’t get to
work because of No Gas!!!
Look at the Clinton years they were the
BEST!!!!!!!!
GO OBAMA!!!!!

Posted by: Susan | June 20, 2008, 1:08 am 1:08 am

@Sally, Agreed. Ron Paul is a good man. Obama is going to win this thing though. I still don’t trust Obama fully, but I definitely think McCain is dangerous.

Besides anyone who wants McCain and supports Bush. You go face one of these
Military Father’s or Mother’s and you tell
them how wonderful Bush is.
I will say it again. If they must fight
for America make it for America and
she is in danger and there is no other
way to defend her. But Lies!!
You tell me where is Bin Laden and why
as a nation lie ours we can’t find him
Each and everyday his cells are growing by the numbers. Has been all this time
we have been fighting in Iraq. You tell me Bush didn’t want our eyes taken off of Bin Laden. The one who did 9-11.
You tell me who the coward is and has a yellow streak down his back. My God
wake up. Our military is the bravest of the bravest and the strongest and the most dearest and wonderful men and women a country could have. You tell me they don’t deserve honesty, they deserve the best from the President of the Untied States of America. They give their very best to us and to defend us and By God
do right by them. Bush has not even attended on of these soldiers funerals.
He doesn’t want to take care of our wounded. Bush is a disgrace to this
country. I’m proud to say we have the
best in our military and God Bless them.
Bush is all about himself and money.
Greed gets you no where!!
God Bless our Military.
Bush can go have dinner with Bin Laden!!!! Better yet he can go live with him.

All this comments are very disturbing to
me. You would rather sell America down
the river than vote for Obama. If it was
Clinton and Obama had lost I would vote
for Clinton. I guess I much more mature.
I wanted to talk to smart people here but
I will have to go elsewhere.
SAD!!! Impeach Bush!!!!! Don’t vote
for McCain. I’m beginning to wonder if
there is anyone who really cares about
America or our Military. Shameful!!!

The votes are to fund the troops, not the war. There is quite a difference there. Our troops need support to do their jobs, cutting funding for them is practically killing them. And to people who are against this war, when was war ever popular. Remember the civil war? Highly unpopular. Now you tell me was the civil war worth fighting?

I think te Vietnam War is muc better analogy. And NO. It wasn’t worth fighting.

The Dems said they would END THIS WAR… yet they keep voting for it to continue
——————–
Funding the troops that are currently in Iraq is necessary to keep them alive idiot. The Dems WILL end this war certainly McCain has no interet in doing do. But they don’t do it by ending funds and jepordizing our soldiers safety.
The Iraq War was a masssive mistake that will end up costing a trillion dollars. It has NO justification.
It’s clear that you should stop worrying about who else might be smart, quit whining about a candidate that lost already, and get an education for yourself.

This 2005 interview with Tim Russert on Meet the Press make it very clear.
************************************
RUSSERT: The fact is you are different than George Bush.
SEN. McCAIN: No. No. The fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I’ve been totally in agreement and support of President Bush.

oil companies are in full controll—only way to change prices is with alternate fuel and competitive market no simple task–start with this——WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU HAVE SEEN A STATION WITH ALTERNATE FUEL———————-COST APPROX 1.00 PER GALLON TO PRODUCE BIO FUEL——get rid of the oil mongers.

a parting thought——cuba is a large producer of sugar cane very good for biofuel—would be of great benifit to both countries—however politicaly we cannot deal with cuba—BUT WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH CHINA WHO IS SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF US—A SLICK WILLY ACHIEVEMENT.—-WE NEED TO MAKE A FEW CHANGES IN OUR COUNTRY.

It all comes down to whether or not you think we should continue the bush policies. If you think the war should continue indefinitely, while we spend $10,000,000,000 a month, and you think that bush has done well with the economy then mc-more-war is your man. If you think that it’s time we start to get out of iraq and do some positive things for the average American instead of just the top 5% then vote for Obama.
