More Obama Interview
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee answers questions about his opposition to school vouchers, why he will keep the nation safe from terrorism, why he and Sen. John McCain are essentially tied in many polls, and McCain’s attempts to woo women voters.

Santorum: Money Will Not Defeat Obama, Ideas Will
Rick Santorum's Full Speech at CPAC 2012
Not sure how long the “no Florida or Ohio” strategy will stay viable for Obama. He needs to focus on spreading out McCain while remaining competitive in the swing states.

Yes, folks, DO keep that in mind. Gutless goose.

“OBAMA: Well, keep in mind I haven’t opposed, for example, the national security surveillance program, the NSA program ”
Is he referring to any one program in particular, or all NSA programs in general?

Typical liberal politician. “School choice for me, but not for the Little People.”

Obama should be losing sleep at night, as he is only ahead of McCain by 3 points AFTER HILLARY DROPPED OUT AND HE SHOULD BE UP BY DOUBLE DIGITS! The more the average American finds out about him the worse off it’ll get, as we approach election day. His meteoric rise when he wasn’t “vetted” is long over..since he limped to the finish line, losing 9 out of the last 14 primaries. Hillary could do this job blindfolded yet he would be the most Advisor Driven President ever! Forget it….McCAIN ALL THE WAY!!!!

Good interview.
I am not sure how many women know that indeed McCain will appoint judges that WILL overturn Roe vs Wade.
That will be a HUGE disaster for American women if this indeed happens.

the new fear tactic: MAC will appoint judges who will overturn Roe vs Wade.
Hasn’t the left been using that one for years now? Has it happened?
The universe yawns.
Posted by: whoknows | June 16, 2008, 6:47 pm 6:47 pm
And what the heck does “let’s foster competition within the public school system” mean?
“Competition” isn’t the answer to everything. In fact, it’s hardly the answer to ANYthing.
Posted by: Mama Knows Better | June 16, 2008, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm
Whoknows,
Obviously you are not aware that the next president will appoint 1-3 judges that will replace the more liberal judges.
Right now Roe vs Wade will be upheld 5 to 4 but if one liberal judge is replaced with another Alito or Scalia, it will be overturned.
This election is EXTREMELY serious for women.

I don’t want Roe vs Wade overturned. McCain even states he wants to overturn Roe vs Wade on his website.
I don’t want McCain as president.
Posted by: Nancy | June 16, 2008, 6:57 pm 6:57 pm
also:
I think John McCain is going to have trouble making the case, when on almost every single issue that’s important to women, he’s been on the wrong side. You know, he is in favor of judges who would overturn Roe v. Wade. He has opposed equal pay. He has opposed the CHIP program, that would make children insured.
He has opposed efforts to protect women against some of the discrimination that they experience in the workplace. You know, that’s not going to be a track record that I think is going to be very appealing to women.
—
As a woman, I get really irked when a politician tries to list the issues that are important to “women”. We are all very different, with minds of our own, and issues that matter to us that have little to do with our gender. Kind of like men.

No Davis, she fought and won the popular vote. That is what women should be doing: fighting for it. If people like you win, women should buy new mops because the pail will have the same old detergent courtesy of Obamalosi.

The amount of money we have been throwing at the public school system in this country is rediculous – with pretty crummy results. Competition DOES work. Bring on the vouchers AND YES, if you’re wondering, I am a retired elementary teacher with many years in public and private school systems. McCain/Romney 08

“Competition DOES work.”
Maybe you could EXPLAIN that to us slow learners?
Especially how some public school in the ghetto “competes” with the fancy University of Chicago school where Obama’s kids go.

Obama will keep the nation safe from terrorism? THAT’S A WHOPPER!! That’s what Bush has been doing for eight years now while at the same time putting up with the PEOPLE DIED WHEN BUSH LIED morons. Oh, by the way, The LA Times which is a very liberal paper just came out with an editorial DENOUNCING THE BUSH LIED CROWD AND DFENDING BUSH’ justification for going into IRAQ!!

How about we cover the story of Obama’s half brother in Kenya (he has 8 half siblings from his father’s 4 wives)… June 12, Malik Obama says “Obama will be good for the Jews, despite his Muslim background” on Army radio. When is someone going to go to Kenya and get the family bio of Obama? Americans need to know….please don’t pull his post.

in the last week or so obama has gone from a 6 point lead to a within the margin of error 2-3 point lead in a matter of days. something is real wrong here. after hillary suspended her campaign and encouraged her supporters to support obama you would have expected a huge lead by obama. instead he got a little tiny bump and is now within the margin of error or virtually tied.
ya notice how the media is being really hush, hush, about this? i bet if he was ahead by a substantial amount msnbc and cnn would be salivating and spitting all over themselves.
Posted by: sonia trevino | June 16, 2008, 7:32 pm 7:32 pm
Sonia…you’re right about the MSM. If BO was in a double digit lead it would be headline news every friggin day. If and when McCain gets his lead, I hope they give him the same coverage, as this is still being downplayed (Obama’s low poll numbers).

Not exactly a very good comparison. The U of Chi versus the local elementary? Here in Cleveland, parents are craving for vouchers – limited amount of money available. With reasonably level playing fields – VOUCHERS DO WORK. Obama and the teacher’s union are in the tank together. SURPRISE??

Debra,
Who cares what Obama’s supposed half-brother said about Obama in Kenya. His half-brother may not know Obama at all.
Again Obama has NEVER been Muslim and obviously isn’t now either.
The “Obama is a Muslim” mem is getting old.
Obama just gave a slamming speech in an African-American Christian church on Sunday about Fatherhood and there is a book coming out this Summer about Obama’s Christian faith written by the same conservative evangelical author that wrote about Bush’s Christian faith.
Should be an interesting read.

thanks debra. in the interview obama seems to suggest that it was the long campaign against hillary, and the media’s lack of vetting mccain, or giving him a free pass, according to him these are factors that are having an effect on his dismal polling. obama/michelle always the victim’s…
Posted by: sonia trevino | June 16, 2008, 7:48 pm 7:48 pm
“Sonia…you’re right about the MSM.”
From now until the end of the Democratic Convention, nobody should pay the slightest heed to ANYthing the MSM — especially MSNBC and CNN — says about the whole subject.
Obama’s Father’s Day stuff will peeve off a good many people, when it gets around, and the revelations unwittingly unleashed by Malik Obama in Kenya will be huge. (Pray for his good health.)
Hijacking the DNC was a clever move, but not a smart one. Trying to cancel the convention — or, God help us all, Al Gore — may turn out to have been the last straw . . .
Posted by: Mama Knows Better` | June 16, 2008, 7:48 pm 7:48 pm
Don’t count Hillary out yet. It is still a long time until the convention as Hillary reminded us with her RFK comment. Expect that shortly before the convention “something” will happen and the convention will turn to Hillary to save the party.

Correct, abortion will become a state issue. And there ARE states that will make abortion illegal. They’ve tried several times and get shot down by the Supreme Court.
But if you don’t care, I certainly could care less.

This goes back to Obama’s years of employment by corporate “education” hustlers in Chicago.
Vouchers work only if next-to-nobody uses them. And the price of gasoline is going to throw a monkeywrench into the stupid practice of bussing kids for miles to “better” schools, instead of DELIBERATELY making education worse and worse for the poor.
The teachers union is indeed a foul and corrupt organization. Better they should pay teachers like generals and politicians, and politicians and generals like public school teachers. THAT might work. :^)

debra has the right as we all do as tax paying employers to want to know the details of the person we hire to represent us. i hear an equal amount of fear mongering about conservative judges, and roe vs wade if we elect mccain. so it is foolish and infantile when your candidate is vetted, but it is ok to vet the opponent? no, no, that is not the way it works. we can engage in meaningful discourse without the insults and hate. if this is the message of the antiwar, peace, love, hope, tolerance, and change crowd i want nothing to do with it.

Kat.
More and more “mainstream” Christians are returning to the christian base because the large churches have gotten away from the fundamental reasons for their existence. This movement away from mainline churches has been going on for many years now for the same reasons you brought up – more love of God and less politicising from the pulpit especially when hate is preached .

Margaret Atwood wrote a chilling book on the rise of Christian fundamentalism in Handmaiden’s Tale. It was a fictional work from the 80′s , but quite prescient on the influence of extreme right Christianity on government.
I reiterate. The agenda of Christian fundamentalism is a lot more ominous than Black Liberation Theology.

“Most mainstream Christians have far more issues with the ilk of Hagee and extreme fundamentalism than they do with Black Liberation Theology.”
Most people aren’t knowledgeable about Black Liberation Theology. Many that are don’t see it as a positive belief system or an acceptable one. McCain will falter as Clinton did if he does not take this issue straight to Obama to uncover his beliefs about the church where he spent twenty years with his family.
Obama doesn’t believe in Black Liberation Theology. Obama believes in Obama.

There is considerable information about Obama’s father and family on the Internet. Most is fear fueling. Chicagotribune.com is one of the better sources. Kenyan has been flooded with press and other people trying to find information about Obama.
Obama’s brother is stating that Obama is Muslim according to Muslim custom – a child is the religion of the father when the child was born. Later in life Obama’s father rejected Islam.
Freedom of religion – a founding principle of the United States of America. Obama was born in Hawaii as a US citizen. Muslim tradition does not pertain to Obama. His mother was against organized religion – part of the rebellion of the 60s.
Obama’s Kenyan grandfather beat his wife(s) and children, which was allowable by custom in Kenyan . His grandfather would have committed a crime in the US when he repeatedly beat Obama’s “real” Kenyan grandmother. Obama’s grandmother abandoned Obama’s father and aunt when they were grade school age because she did not want to be beat anymore.
As Obama said on father’s day, “Any fool can father a child.”
Read Obama’s book, “Dreams of My Father.” You will learn about the older brother’s struggles from psychological damage inflicted by Obama’s father. Obama’s older sister did not like her father for many reasons.
Obama’s white grandmother talked his mother out of going to Kenyan. Obama’s mother would have been the second wife. In addition, his mother would have lost all rights as a person, which means Obama’s father would have all control, including keeping Obama if mother wanted to leave Kenyan.
Obama’s father took Obama’s older sister and older brother away from there mother and moved where they could not have contact with there mother. Obama’s father took them to live with his third wife, a white American women. A major reason Obama’s older sister did not like dad.
Obama did not meet any of his Kenyan family until his mid 20s.

The truth of the matter is that Black Liberation Theology is a perverted branch of Christian Fundamentalism.
Even with the Islamic parallels the more radical BLT is as much about attacking political targets from the pulpit and advocating hate and victimization to attempt to motivate. Cone’s ideas mixed up with and unhealthy dose of Farrakans creation is nothing short of poison.
Any attempts to compare the recent and I believe inherent rantings that Obama has been sitting through to 20 year old comments which Hagee apologized to Jewish leaders for is unfair.
I am not fond of “Fire and Brimestone” preaching but it’s nothing compared to the hate and profane attacks of political opponents that are commonplace in a church that Obama attended for 20 years.
I would not care for a president who had no idea that hate was being taught in his own church. I don’t care so much either for a guy that lies and says he never read the church newsletter or heard any of this race rhetoric.
I would have not sat through even one of these services. I would like a president that can leave such a service. And why in the world is this guy preaching? Running his campaign from behind a pulpit really is hypocritical.

Keep America safe? God help us all if Obama becomes president. I am in a state of shock that anybody could possibly think this inexperienced, ultra liberal man that has surrounded himself with shady, radical friends for the past 20 years. My goodness, actions speak louder than words, folks! We all know he is a great orator, but is no reason to make him president. Chaos will reign if Obama is elected.
