Clinton Sneaks Out to Meet Obama in Washington
ABC News’ Kate Snow Reports: Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton held a secret meeting Thursday evening in Washington, DC.
According to a well-placed Democratic source, the meeting was held at the Washington home of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., an early Clinton supporter who lately has been advocating for a joint Obama-Clinton ticket.
After their meeting the Obama and Clinton campaigns released a joint statement: "Senator Clinton and Senator Obama met tonight and had a productive discussion about the important work that needs to be done to succeed in November."
Shortly after 10 p.m., a van sped quickly into the side gate of Clinton’s home, Whitehaven. It was unclear who was inside. Sen. Clinton has been invisible to the press corps gathered outside her home all day. To attend the meeting at Feinstein’s home, she would have had to slip unnoticed past a half-dozen cameras.
In an unexpected and unprecedented move for the candidate, Obama, D-Ill., shed his traveling press corps as they got on the plane with the understanding that Sen. Obama would join after his local interviews.
Right before take off, the press corps was informed Obama would not be flying to Chicago. Instead, he would be spending the evening in Washington.
Robert Gibbs, Obama campaign communications director, originally told the press corps, "He is not going to be in D.C. tonight for awhile so he wanted to schedule meetings."
Gibbs later confirmed the meeting took place between Clinton and Obama.
“I don’t have details of the substance of the meeting,” he said. “As the primary ended, they did have occasion to meet this evening.
"Sen. Obama had talked to Sen. Clinton … was eager to do it and begin the process, as we have over the last couple days, of uniting the party, bringing the candidates together."
Gibbs said he does not know who asked for the meeting, but it was arranged through staff.
Asked if tonight’s meeting would change Obama’s schedule for Saturday — insinuating that Obama might show up at Clinton’s event where she plans to back him as the Democratic presidential candidate –- Gibbs said, "I don’t anticipate that. The way we understand it is the event on Saturday — and rightly so — is for and about Sen. Clinton and the historic campaign that she ran."

You and your ilk don’t have anything to offer Clinton supporters. I’m still voting for Hillary in November. I may or may not write in Obama as a VP candidate. I still question whether he is capable enough to be VP. The sly dog Axelrod, on the other hand, would be a natural successor to the vacancy that is being left by Cheney.

Again, I do not care for Clinton, but if he picks her, I will still support the Democratic ticket. It is the repuglicans that would like to keep Democrats divided. Hillary and Obama would make a great ticket for the Democrats. To not vote for one because of the other makes no sense. The important thing is that we must get the GOP out of the WH. Their policies have virtually destroyed the economy and security of this country. Anyone making under $100,000 feel they did anything for you the past 8 years?? That’s right. A big reason she’s out is that her money people turned off the spigot the day after she lost. She’s in debt.
The people who were paying for her campaign, not all the “little forgotten people” who are convinced that she was doing it for them, told her when to run and when to fold.
She lost, she owes them money, she’s history.

I use to be a Hillary supporter in the beginning and then I switched. In actuality, I really didn’t care which one won until Feb/Mar. However, as a woman, I know we are passionate about our beliefs. I also know we are forward thinking beings who want what’s best for our children and future generations.
Our adversary here is the Republicans because they have threatened the stability for our children and future generations. To prevent this we need to come together and support our Democratic candidate. No matter how disappointed we are when our candidate loses, we still must see the bigger picture. We are better than this, that’s when it’s a woman’s turn whether it’s Hillary or someone else, it will happen. But today, it is Barack and he is not our Savior although I beiieve he will work very hard to get us out of this mess the Republicans have selfishly put us in. Bring our troops, our sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, granddaughters, grandsons, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, cousins HOME. A vote for McCain is a vote for another loss of life unnecessarily. How can we look our children in the face and know we helped their cause. I lost my mother in 9.11 and I’m appalled the Republicans used our grief for their personal gain. Let your anger go, and put it where it needs to be.

I am bitter. I’m bitter over what Bush has done to our country. I am enraged at the thought that there are people who are so stupid and disconnected that they would vote for a third bush term. Posted by: co11bang | June 5, 2008, 11:29 pm 11:29 pm
Sally,
Is your theory that the 18 million or so Hillary supporters did not vote for Obama because he’s black and will not in the future because he’s black? Isn’t that fairly preposterous? Or is this an effort to start an early play on the race card with McCain? Good luck with that.
I for one could care less if Obama is black. I openly supported Jesse Jackson when he ran. Jesse Jackson was qualified to be President because he has a consistent track record supporting the working class. Obama supports a totally different class and is looking to get paid! By the way, at the 2004 Rainbow/Push Conference where Michelle Obama spoke some of the extreme black liberation theocrats openly attacked Jesse Jackson and demeaned him. He does not deserve that kind of treatment given his track record. But back to Obama, I can never support Obama because he is not qualified based on lack of experience and his negative association with Rezko. I could care less about his association with Ayers, I don’t think that really warrants a concern, but I think you’ll find that the Republicans probably feel differently. Won’t be long before you miss the good old days when you had Hillary Clinton to abuse.

Obviously, they are meeting to work out how they are going to introduce Hillary on the ticket. All this back and forth was a political ploy all along to generate buzz for the Libs. Now, they will “officially” Kiss and make up” and Hillary will be second fiddle and they will “Unite” (more of Obama’s Rhetoric.) Don’t you guys see how sly and underhandedly the Libs have become? They will stop at nothing to win this election. This combination is the only way that the Dems can win the election and any fool knows that! THEY know that and that’s exactly why they are teaming up! Wake up! Barack Obama has belonged to a racist church for 20 years and has terrorist associates for 20 years. He does not wear the US Flag Lapel Pin and he will not put his hand on his heart during the National Anthem, What’s wrong with this picture? And he wants to be the President of the United States of America, one of these things just doesn’t belong here. Another funny thing is, Barack Obama calls himself black, his party him black, his church him black, the media calls him black, but his mother was WHITE! Why does he not acknowledge this fact? Can anyone answer this question? I just don’t get it.

No real Hillary supporter would ever vote for John McCain.
McCain opposes government-run health care, supports continuing the war in Iraq, wants to extend President Bush’s tax cuts and is a committed enemy of abortion rights.
He’ll do nothing for the working classes, only a DEM President will. He’ll do nothing for the position of women and their rights in society, only a DEM President will.
I’m totally saddened by Hillary dropping out of the race, yet, as a REAL follower of Hillary, I’ll follow her in supporting Obama’s candidacy. My loyalty does not stop after Hillary lost.
Those who will vote for McCain betray EVERYTHING Hillary stands and has fought for all of her life. They should be ashamed to call themselves “supporters” of our great Hillary. Treason is the extreme opposite of dedication, love and loyalty. Shame on these fake supporters, who’ll go against Hillary’s ideas, desires and ideals. They make me sick.

This is not about black and white. A black man or woman, qualified, would be just fine. This is about who has the most experience to run the country. Obama clearly does not. Either Nader or McCain would be a better choice, but I myself cannot bring myself to vote Green Party or Republican, so it’s either sit on my hands, or vote write-in for a qualified candidate. People, whatever happened to voting on policy? If you’ve done well under 8 years of Bush and are quite happy to have another four years of the same economic and foreign policy, vote for McCain. If on the other hand, you want to travel a different road, and have the possibility of universal healthcare and a return of the troops, vote for Obama? Voting because you don’t like McCain or Obama personally, or jumping ship because Hillary didn’t win, is plain dumb. Your livelihood and well-being are at stake, choose on the basis of something more intelligent than personal prejudice!

McCain did not only select the wrong party, he selected the wrong policies.
Policies which have failed and yet from his “experience” he choses to still support them.
John McCain sold his soul to the Republican Party.

I may be an imbecile, but I don’t have 20 yr associates such as unrepentant terrorist-William Ayers, felon-Rezko, Anti-American/Anti-Jew/Anti-White-Jeremiah Wright, Anti-White-Pflegger. (Who knows who else he knows.) Oh, but these people weren’t the TRUE character that Obama knew. Of course not, the Libs are masters at being DISHONEST! Obama only knew the KIND side of these people. And for the last time-Obama is not Black, his mother was White so I guess it would be proper to call him Mulatto. You know if he does win, you guys understand that the job is NOT EASY. YOU DO GET THAT, I HOPE! It all seems like fun and games over here, but it’s not like that when you’re up against Iran. I’m 28 and I have a young child, I don’t want us to live in a world in which there is nuclear holocaust. We all wine about gas prices and the housing market but we all must admit aside from them 2 things, it’s been pretty good and above all-WE DON’T WORRY WHEN WE GO TO BED AT NIGHT! THINK ABOUT THAT!

I love these comments. They are all over the map at every possible extreme, and every writer thinks that his opinion is infallible truth from God herself. All these opinions are manufactured in your heads. Not a single one is actually real. None of you knows the future, or who would be a good or bad president, or, for that matter, what you will be doing in an hour. It’s mass mental masturbation….and I have to admit, it’s entertaining as hell. The only sad part is how many of you are angry because the world is not quite the way you want it. Better sue somebody, quick.

ok, so you just named me 3 republicans. and they are all from the bush administration. im a conservative. i voted for bush twice. i realize he hasnt been the greatest leader.(not quite as bad as people make it seem to be) but you say republicans as a whole, and then you name a few from the current administration. any other examples from a broader aspect, of republican “arrogance”? i mean, its soooo easy for everyone to compare EVERY republican to george bush. a very liberal way of thinking.

The more Americans become dependent on the governemenbt and the less likely they will depend on themselves the worse our economy will become. Consider this… Home prices are declining because people are not buying homes. If people expect the government to provide housing for them all housing becomes subsidized. So the poeple no longer own real property. When people begin to lose property they lose wealth. With the decrease in welath come a decrease in spending. Which is where we are right now.. Which may I remind you, didn’t get this bad until democrats took the house and senate…

I don’t know who will be better for our country and I am looking forward to the general election. For all the rabid Clinton faithful I have a question. With our current state of financial crises and her pledge to be ready on day one… How could she allow herself and her team to grossly mismanage her campaign? 1) Her campaign is in debt. 2) She did not use proper strategy in how the DNC allocates delegates. 3) She shook up her campain staff twice and still made bonehead decisions. In what world can anyone believe she would have been ready to run this country on day one when she was not ready to run a campaign that she was suppose to be the shoo-in for? Also, am I the only one who noticed that Hillary’s vote totals increased after McCain wrapped up the Republican nomination.
Posted by: TexasIndie | June 6, 2008, 12:09 am 12:09 am
WestCoastMessenger, I am confused. Exactly what are you trying to say? You sound like someone regretting your support of Hillary, yet angry at Obama.
People, many those 18 millions Hillary voters, are voting against Obama, not voting for Hillary, so don’t think you are getting 18 million for Obama. More than half will go to McCain!

westcoast… THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN BAD, DIRTY CEO’S!!! that dosnt have anything to do with the other 95 percent that run the country!!! of course we feel bad for the people without health insurance, and it needs to be fixed. you make it seem like all conservatives have no hearts! there is just a right and a wrong way to TAKE CARE OF THESE ISSUES. and the government is not the answer. WE THE PEOPLE is the answer. what makes democrats trust the government so much by the way? we ALL talk about the problems that government makes and ignores, so now you want to give them MORE power?! think about that for a second and get back to me.

not only since the dems have had control of congress, but has everyone forgotten how slick willy changed the lending laws while he was our president??!! he and the democrats were a BIG PART of the reason predatory lending became so easy. that, along with stupid people buying a house for 400,000 dollars when they realistically could affored a 150,000 dollar home, were the main reasons for the crisis. democrats always seem to “convieniently” forget these things it seems.

The past 8 years have been tough but we got through them. I didn’t vote for Bush but it is importnant for people to remember he gave us full disclosure that the war was going to cost a lot of money and take a long time to end it. He said this with an overwhelming amount of support from the American people. But now we have to ask ourselves if we are still kicking. Put a little faith in the resilience of the American people. I am better off now than I was 8 years ago. Like I said, it has been tough, but it has been worth it. Obama is trying to scare us that we won’t have social security and we will fall into a depression if he isn’t elected. All economic indicators are pointing to the possibility things are improving. Americans just need to learn to take a few more risks. Rememeber that risk is the grease that keeps the parts moving smoothly and so long as americans are scared to take risks we will never improve.

@Kelly: Okay, let’s start with “he gave us full disclosure…” Not sure if you’ve been paying attention for the past 4 years but, no, really, he didn’t give full disclosure about the war. And Obama isn’t trying to scare anyone, it’s the Bush folks who’ve had that to themselves. And you’re better off?!?! Well, congratulations – you are in the minority. I think most of us are working harder for less. Actually, I don’t just think it – I know it. Our dollar is losing value, our commodities are going up in cost, and our houses are plummeting in value. Posted by: tim | June 6, 2008, 12:32 am 12:32 am
MIguy: Tell me exactly when Bush said the war was going to be easy? Aside from gas prices what is worse now than it was 8 years ago. You can still get a a burger and fries for about $3. The dollar losing value has no impact on what you buy with it anyway. The only people affected by the dollars decrease are the people in foriegn countries who can now travel to the US for less. A weak dollar isn’t always a bad thing. A weak dollar means US goods can be bought in Europe for less than European goods. Meaning we export more then. A weaker dollar means we buy less from foriegn countries because it becomes more expensive to import than to manufacture domestically.
Posted by: Kelly | June 6, 2008, 12:33 am 12:33 am
Also, a weak dollar means foriegn countries are more likely to invest in the US. Because they can buy US good cheaper they are buying real estate in the US which is what is keeping our housing crisis from becoming a total crisis. THIS ISN’T A BAD THING.
Posted by: Kelly | June 6, 2008, 12:36 am 12:36 am

A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality
that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.
Pause a moment, reflect back.
These events are actual events from history.
They really happened!!!
Do you remember?
1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by
Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40.
2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
3. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
4. During the 1980′s a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
9. In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
10. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
11. On 9/11/01 , four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by
Muslim male extremists between the of 17 and 40.
12. In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by– you guessed it–
Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.
No, I really don’t see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?
So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us,
airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people…
Absolutely No Profiling!
They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President’s security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and
Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss,
but leave
Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40
alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
According to The Book of Revelation:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power,
he will destroy everything.
And Now:
For the award winning
Act of Stupidity
Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet –
The Presidency of the United states of America
A Muslim
Male
Extremist
Between
the ages
of 17 and 40.
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
I’m sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the
‘unknown’ candidate.
Let’s send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves — if they have any such sense.
As the writer of the award winning story ‘Forrest Gump’ so aptly put it,
‘Stupid
Is
As
Stupid Does

@Kelly: You misunderstood me – first, Bush made up reasons for a preemptive war. Deny it if you will, it doesn’t change the fact. He lied/misled about the “progress” in Iraq for years. Why, exactly, do you think we are there? Why should we stay there? Simple questions that really never get a straight answer.
As for the weak dollar, of course it is not always a bad thing. However, why is it weak? Mostly because we are borrowing and spending way too much money. On what? Well, the war mostly. No need to lecture on monetary theory, but in spite of our weak dollar it is still cheaper to manufacture things in China and ship them here than to make them here. I don’t the recession has hit where you live yet; wait ’till you get a taste what we have in Michigan…

Obama looks like a winner compared to McCain and they have not even had a debate yet.
Now that Hillary is on board things will be easier for her supporters to join in the fun.
Those who won’t? Just prove they were not supporting her but rather than own inability to fully understand that the democratic party is always united when it is all said and done because this so much bigger than just Hillary and Obama.

Posted by: catleya | June 6, 2008, 12:42 am 12:42 am
BRIAN…
are you kidding me??!! first off, bill clinton did WAY more damage than any other president ever when it came to the lending laws. do some research on the lending laws before you open your uninformed ass. do you think maybe, just maybe it was irresposible lending and borrowing that caused the problem?! bush can be blamed for not handeling the war correctly ALL DAY but you cant even mention his name when it comes to the mortgage crisis and why it occured. wow, i hate uninformed people when they feel like trying to blame someone.DO THE RESEARCH.
Posted by: tim | June 6, 2008, 12:43 am 12:43 am
Brian: The housing crisis is because wall street investors got scared. I can’t possibly explain it all here. Subprime loans to people who couldn’t afford the homes they bought are the reason fro the mortgage mess. When borrowers default on loans it decreases the value of surrounding properties. The people with adjustable rate mortgages can’t refinancne out of high interest loans. The result is another foreclosure. It is a snowball effect. Bush has had nothing to do with the foreclosures and the mortgage crisis.
Posted by: Kelly | June 6, 2008, 12:43 am 12:43 am
Obama is not going to fix the mortgage problem. The only people who can fix that are the Wall Street Investors who buy mortgages on the secondary market. If all Americans would get some b*lls and invest their money we would work our way out of this mess.
Posted by: Kelly | June 6, 2008, 12:45 am 12:45 am
$4/gallon of gas is not OPEC. it’s speculation, it’s the weak dollar, it’s increased demand in China and India, it’s limited refining capability.
The idea that a weak dollar will help us is simplistic; our dollar is weakening because we are borrowing way too much money. The good news is that we’ll all be billionaires but won’t be able to afford anything.
Posted by: MIguy | June 6, 2008, 12:45 am 12:45 am
This is what happens when people who don’t understand business try to take on a business problem. Which is exactly why Obama is not going to be the best choice for President if the economy is the number 1 issue.

Posted by: staniam | June 6, 2008, 12:50 am 12:50 am
@Kelly: Look, I’m not delusional about Obama’s fiscal policies – the democrats are planning on spending us to death. But, McCain isn’t any better here and offers no real reforms to the underlying problems. Yes the people who took out loans they couldn’t afford are part of the problem, but the bigger problem was the lenders who made the loans and then the CDOs that came afterwards. A house of cards waiting to fall. And although everybody loves Greenspan, his policies lead to bubble after bubble (Oil/commodities are next).
Posted by: MIguy | June 6, 2008, 12:51 am 12:51 am
@tim: agreed that our dependency on oil, and foreign oil in particular, is a huge problem. however, the high price of gas may trigger alternative approaches finally.

LeeLee07 – yes, 30% or YOU can leave the party, not vote for Obama, blah, blah, blah. A few months ago 61% of YOU said you would not vote for Obama. By the time November rolls around that number (30%) will have dwindled even more. Obama and Clinton met to start healing wounds. Too bad YOU people cannot take the hint.

Why Hillary should not be VP and why so many of the people she works with -starting with John Kerry – supported Obama instead: Google “Barrett Report”. Though the 120 missing pages are not available to We the People, they are available to any Congressman that requests them. The Republicans would be glad to use the information in there to bring down any Democratic ticket with Hillary on it.
If she remains in the Senate or if Obama offers her a cabinet position, she can still get a lot done. But not as VP.

Posted by: catleya | June 6, 2008, 12:54 am 12:54 am
MIguy: People who took out loans they cannot afford are to blame. If you want to place blame at least put it where it belongs. Subprime borrowers should not have ever beeen allowed to buy a home. Granted, wall street is partly to blame for investing in high risk loans but the consumer is ultimately repsonsible to decide if the loan is appropriate or not. That is our freedom in America. And if it is legislated by government then we lose our freedom to conduct buisness.

Leelee07 – one more thing – you must be thrilled to turn your body over to the government. Any woman who votes for McCain is doing just that. Where are YOUR heads? And voting for Hillary – just a throw-away vote – no judgement there, either.

staniam – The whole thing, like must of us suspected, was rigged all along. I was really amazed at the body language. Their minds were already made up and nothing was going to change them. What really got me was that they knew America was watching that hearing and they didn’t give a d@mn. It was blatant, it was in our faces – our votes did not matter. I really wish Hillary would leave the Democratic Party and go Independent. After the trashing they gave her, she owes them nothing, least of all her brilliance and competence!

Eva met Colonel Juan Perón in 1944 at a charity event in San Juan. The two were married the following year. In 1946, Juan Perón was elected President of Argentina. Over the course of the next six years, Eva Perón became powerful within the Pro-Peronist trade unions, essentially for speaking on behalf of labor rights. She also ran the Ministries of Labor and Health, founded and ran the charitable Eva Perón Foundation, and founded and ran the nation’s first large-scale female political party, the Female Peronist Party.
In 1951, Eva Perón accepted the Peronist nomination for the office of Vice President of Argentina. In this bid she received great support from the Peronist political base, low-income and working class Argentines referred to as descamisados or “shirtless ones”. However, opposition from the nation’s military and elite, coupled with her declining health, ultimately forced her to back down. In 1952, shortly before her death, Eva Perón was given the official title of “Spiritual Leader of the Nation”

@Kelly: one loan that fails, or 10 or 20 or 2000, i’ll blame on the borrower. when we have the highest number of foreclosures ever, then we have an institutional problem. look, if i’ve got 10 bucks and someone asks me for it but it doesn’t look like they can pay me back. the sane thing is to say no. it’s not to give the 10 bucks and then sell that loan off to someone else who, wrongly, trusted my judgment not to make a bad loan. to me, bailing out either the lenders or borrowers is a losing proposition but one that we’re stuck in.

staniam -sorry nothing there, either. trial is over, sentencing coming up – neither Obam of the governor were drawn into the trial. Rezko, “whitey” – nothing there – done deal. @Kelly: I don’t blame Republicans but I do blame Bush, who I don’t consider to be a true Republican, because he is clueless. Because he puts trusts advisors who are not worthy of trust. Because he nominates foxes to guard henhouses. And because his trumped up war is a colossal waste of our money that is ultimately fueling the problem.

@Kelly: Again, the problem is overspending. The Bush administration is spending too much money. So that’s how it’s his fault.
How will Obama fix it? I’m not sure that he will fix it in any knowing fashion. I think the threat to leave Iraq will cause the leaders over there to get there act together (I think that is already happening to a small degree). I think stopping the war will plug a huge spending drain. I’m not happy about the alternative overspending he proposes, but at least he’ll be spending it in the US on things that might actually drive the economy.
The problem ends with increasing consumer confidence, some restrictions on lending practices, and reigning in the speculators.

MIguy: The point I am trying to make is that government intervention isn’t going to improve the economy. It will just have to work itself out. The mortgage mess is not that big of a mess really. Purchasing a home is just as possible today as it was 50 years ago. We have just gotten back more to the basics. Lending guidlines are much tighter now than they were a few years ago. The dollar will comeback and property values will increase. everything will be fine. The deomcrats are trying to scare the American people to vote for them.

Go Obama!!!
The fact is, we don’t know ENOUGH about McCain’s associations and spirituality…and that’s sad to say considering all we ‘think’ we know of him. He has military experience and continues to get it wrong. I’m more scarred of McCain not knowing what to do w/ the housing crisis, gas prices, and the economy as a whole. The only reason he keeps running to Iraq is to try to convince the American people “this is great”; more cover ups for the truth as to why we really entered this war. Also, experience just mean you’ve been doing something a long time. If you keep doing the same thing expecting a different result, it will never happen.
Obama for president!!!

That is a good point! I cannot see him winning PA. He lost PA by 10%. Kerry carried PA against Bush by less than 2%. How can he beat McCain when he lost the state to Hillary by a wide margin?!?! Again, the white/working class will be the difference in states such as PA and Ohio. Even if he gets most of the black vote in Philadelphia and parts of Ohio, it will not be enough to offset the white/working class voters that will vote AGAISNT him!

erin – it does separate the Democrats from the want-to-bes -doesn’t it? I would support the party – no matter who the candidate was – the nominee is Senator Obama so he gets my vote. Not hard to separate Republican principles from Democratic ones – one is true to their principles or they vote from emotion – against their own best intersts. Dumb – but then you cannot argue with logic when others are irrational.

This is the great irony about this whole “I support/don’t support Obama thing. If you don’t support the guy, you’re automatically labeled a “racist.” If you don’t vote for Hillary..it’s ok, she’s divisive, cold, evil.. you name it!
I cannot believe, nor can I get over how they (Obama, his surrogates/supporters) threw Bill Clinton under the bus after everything he’s done not only for this great country of ours and the democratic party, but for the entire AA community! It pains me to see what they’ve done to him. Where is the gratitude? Where is the loyalty? It seems none of that exists. I am so disgusted with my party, I just don’t know if I can continue to support it!
Posted by: IT IS THE ONLY WAY | June 6, 2008, 1:42 am 1:42 am
honestly i am not worried… the tide has turned in this country, past the tipping point… people will just not go back to the same “old” same “old” mccain right wing bully tactics… they’ve proved their trickle down reaganomics don’t work, and the bush lovers (mccain included) have destroyed this country.. even those sceptical of a black man being president will take the ‘risk’ and vote for him… some of you so-called clinton supporters sound really creepy in your gloating about mccain… the political and policy differences between obama and clinton are negligible when you compare them to the differences between either of them and mccain… so thats why i just don’t buy this ‘bitter’ clinton supporters-going-right-wing-for-mccain crap… i guess we’ll see in november, but i’m not worried in the LEAST… personally i can’t WAIT to see mccain and obama debate… that will be hysterical!!!!

indep4hillaryormccain” well she had to back down a little because those 30 democrat supporters were squealing I bet because Obama threatened to cut off money to them… it all has been about bribery … maybe thats the way it always has been… Obama installing a campaign worker at the DNC today “to combat lobbyists” was jsut for show because of rezko etc
Posted by: staniam | June 6, 2008, 1:43 am 1:43 am
indep4hillormccain – no, I believe that Senator Obama will win the election – his campaign was implemented with the greatest precision, organization, proactive planning, extremely wise decision making, and great success, and that David Axelrod was a key to the overall success (along with the great talents of all of the other staffers as well). A true leader gathers the best of people around him; Senator Obama did just that. Now that he has control of the DNC, Senator Obama will start putting his people in place there; I am sure some of Hillary’s supporters will also join the team at Obama’s bequest. He does not hold the hostility against Hillary like her supporters do against him. He knows that Hillary had some bright people working for her and now they will join his team.
Posted by: sandy | June 6, 2008, 1:44 am 1:44 am
Sandy – I am not a fanatic – Hillary has always been a “good” democrat despite how badly she was treated. I agree, she is one smart lady – but Hillary does not decide who I vote for. I decide. I cannot vote for Obama for all the reasons I listed before. I personally think Hillary will have a great future because she showed all of America she has the right stuff to be Commander-in-Chief. She outshone her opponents at every turn and if it hadn’t been for the MSM and DNC in Obama’s pockets and Obama’s cheating dirty tactics, she would be the nominee. We all know that, even you.

indep4hillormccain – A Gallup Study released today shows that in a general election match up Hispanics break by a greater than two-to-one margin for the Illinois Democrat: 62 percent to McCain’s 29 percent. To put that in context, in 2004, Hispanics favored Sen. John Kerry over President Bush by a margin of 59 to 40, meaning that Obama is already ahead of his Democratic predecessor. This, of course, is a welcome development for a candidate hoping to win Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico, states with large Hispanic communities. Overall, nationally Senator Obama leads McCain 48% to 42% – well within the error range and he has only been the Democratic nominee for two days. Senator Obama’s numbers will go up – McCain’s down now that there are just two candidates instead of three.

indep4hillormccain – PR does not vote in the general election so what sense is there in even bringing them up? Puerto Ricans are not the majority of Latinos and Hispanics in this country. The exit polls have also showed that Senator Obama is cutting into Hillary’s base – however, you seem to ignore those figures. There was also an interesting post on DU today from a former Hilary supporter – Hillary Clinton Does Not Own Me. I voted for Hillary way back when. I long dreamed of the day I could do that. I could not wait for the day I could vote for the first female president of the United States. I think she’s shrewd and smart and I thought she would make a great president. I’m one of her “18 million” votes. I changed my mind – a while ago. I am now a die-hard Obama fan. So is my mother. She voted for Hillary. So is my sister. She voted for Hillary. Hillary can subtract 3 votes from that “18 million.” Where does she get off thinking she owns us and can use our votes to twist Obama’s arm into picking her for VP? Let me tell you, I also, at one time, dreamed of the “Dream Ticket.” Now, I can’t think of anything worse. Who does she think she is? if you so-called hillary supporters like mccain so much more than obama why on earth are you wanting him to ask her to be VP?… according to your logic, you should be begging mccain to pick her for vice president!!!… the absurdity of your bitterness has you so blinded you don’t see how ridiculous you are… obama, with or without clinton, will cream mccain… he’s been ahead of mccain and has only been the (actually, according to some of you not-quite-yet) candidate for 2 days

IT IS THE ONLY WAY – I live is a state that has a huge Hispanic population. They are now speaking about buyer’s remorse and will switch their votes for Clinton to Senator Obama in the GE. Same in California – Obama has a huge lead over McCain. Many say they voted early for Clinton before the primary date – again, buyer’s remorse. Voters now switching to Obama.

Predicted in September of 2007,
Also predicted 9/11 had US conspirators. hmmm? Let’s see what unfolds for the remainder of the year, so far what is on this list has come to fruition, ie, China earthqake, hurricanes and tornadoes in this country and so on. Love and Light Folks, not HATRED.
2008 Psychic Predictions
*Very often when I ‘have a vision’ of things-to-come, I am not shown an exact time. When a time-frame is indicated, I will mention it along with the prediction. Even so, there is so much affecting the ‘timing’ of things-to-come.
i.e.: Our collective consciousness. Prayer and Meditation. The Interpretation of Events. the list can be endless…….
When psychics makes predictions, they are interpreting the ‘patterns’ – ‘the vibrations’ – at a particular point in time. The focus is on that ‘one’ event… there can be of course ‘other events’ that the psychic is not ‘seeing’ that can impact the ‘one’ event they are ‘seeing’ which can alter and even change the outcome all together. I do like to remind people that our FreeWill supersedes planetary as well as hereditary issues…
“Our future rests on the foundation of our thoughts, our words and our deeds.” by: fred rawlins
1. The Year(s) Ahead in Politics: The winds of change are blowing strongly around politics in general in our country over the next few years. Many of us that are alive today will witness a revolution in the area of politics in the years to come. The energy pattern is moving toward a government for the people and BY the people in the true sense of the word. Bi-partisan politics as seen today will vanish over time as a dinosaur of the past. Popular vote will determine the direction of things to come. Technology will play a greater role as this unfolds. The people of this country will take the decision making process out of the hands of the politicians, thereby eliminating factions, business interests and special needs groups control while directing the future of this country like never before.
Politicians and politics will become very unpopular. Leadership will take on a more ‘Spiritual’ tone during this progression of change.
2. Hillary Rodham-Clinton: There appears a strong vibration for this individual to become our next president. Concerns about her health – possibly female issues- also Bill may ‘act up’ in such a way that it can detract from Hillary’s efforts. There appears an energy of some type of scandal around her as well. There is a “darkness” that is pervasive around Hillary. Romantic scandal? Contribution scandal?? A grandson may appear on the horizon – May-June 2008.
3. Barack Obama: This man is born to be ‘King’! He will go far in life… perhaps a vice-president running mate with Hillary?
4. John McCain: He will not achieve the position of president. People will be fearful of his anger – “doing things my way” attitude that has been Bush’s’ downfall.
5. Earth Changes – Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions, Tsunamis and Global Warming. The escalation of things-to-come will begin I believe in 2008, lasting through 2015 – possibly through 2018. There will be more Katrina’s, more volcanic eruptions and more earthquakes. In addition there will be more destruction along our coastlines in areas such as the east coast from Maine to Baltimore; the coast lines of Georgia, North and South Carolina and Florida will become an island. Global warming is real and we will see the impact of this over the next 9 years. When I have focused on the west coast, the states of Washington, Oregon along with California will experience the greatest loss of land as well as people.
6. Wall Street: Around August-September time frame this year scandal will rock Wall Street…. A high official will be ousted due to inappropriate trades…. some will say there is similarity to Enron..
7. The Banking Industry to Include Credit Card Interest: There will be an outcry for reformation in the banking industry… the public will demand that the laws be re-written so as to abolish the high interest rates- now approaching 32 percent on some cards… People will want to banish ‘big business and special interest groups’ from political influence.
8. City on Fire: A re-occurring dream… and it appears it happens from an ‘accident.’ NOT terrorism….
9. Gas prices: Do not be surprised if the prices at the pump reach $7.00 by mid-2009.
10. The Real Estate Market: Not as soft as some say it is… Look for a re-bound before year-end…. THINK positive about this area (Arizona) collective consciousness CAN make a difference!
11. Recession: Slightly oh so slightly things are moving in that direction… but help is on the way…. Do not despair! It is not as bad as some of the ‘spinners’ would have us believe.
12. Interest (prime) Rate. It does appear that this may drop to a 2.5 – 3.0 percent level by July-September….
13. Arizona 2008. The state will continue to grow – slowly for a short while and then in the second half of the year an increase in real estate – building and selling! There will be a swell of individuals coming from the west… California, Oregon and Washington…..

There won’t be any spinning of numbers or voodoo. My vibration/s are telling me the same things that have told me all along what will happen and I’ve mentioned this in other blogs way before he became the nominee that if you believe anything about the “UNIVERSE”, it usually gives you what you don’t want. Now you may say how can that be true because there are HRC haters as well, true. But my answer to that is simple, there were enough of you who hated or disliked him more and that is why he won the election. Now guess what is going to happen in NOVEMBER? Believers or not.

If you have not heard teh “Whup them” story ..here it is:
” At a town hall meeting on health care at Virginia High School, a 95-year-old voter gave the expected nominee a maple walking stick he had carved himself with the intention of giving it to Obama. Obama thanked the man and then, admiring his new gift, said “If members of Congress don’t pass my health care plan, I’ll whup them, I’ll whup them. That’s right, don’t mess with me, I’ll have my stick.”
Whup them??? So this is the CHANGE he is talking about! got it!

LeeLee07,
Ok I will more specific, but you know you have a right to believe what you want, no one can take that away from you ever. Bill damaged her in S.C., Ed Rendell played the race card in PA. “Conservative whites are not ready to vote a black man as president” Now that was the Gov of Pa, mind you who heavily was supported by the large A/A in that state. It’s no wonder A/A came out to support him in droves in NC. So you say they didn’t but people likewise say they did. Look where we are now and then ask yourself that question.

@PitBull61 – Bill said that Jesse Jackson won South Carolina – nothing more, nothing less. I watched Joe
Scarborough/MSNBC interview Jim Clyburn about that incident. First they showed the whole clip of Bill and what he said. He was really conceding that he knew Hillary didn’t have a chance in SC. After the clip was over, the camera cut back to the studio with Joe and Jim standing. Joe Scarborough looked at Jim Clyburn and burst out with “that was code! I’m from the South, I know code when I hear it!” Jim Clyburn looked at Joe and said very piously, “yes, that was code.” Joe spoke angrily, he was red-faced and I was amazed. I had just watched the race card being played by a white man (with the help of a black man) against another white man. The story took wings, when the clip was played again (and again) it only showed Bill saying that one line, nothing before, and nothing after. Along with Bill’s one liner was the commentator’s added assumptions as to what Bill meant. I know for a fact what happened. Today, Joe seems like he is on Hillary’s side, but I am sure that is because MSNBC’s ratings have dropped drastically these last few months. I don’t have a reason why Rendell would say such a thing – it was wrong. I personally thought it had blown Hillary’s chances in PA. But Hillary and Bill play the race card – no. They had always known that they would lose most of the black vote simply because blacks were proud to have a black man run for President. But they knew that, on the whole, they had did ok by the blacks, so they were expecting some loyalty. It didn’t happen, because Obama’s surrogates with the help of MSM managed to twist just about everything they said into something racial by “implying” what they meant rather than what they actually said. It was wrong, it was dishonest, but it worked.

Not all Obama supporters are as rude as some in these forums. I was, and still am for Clinton. And I am for Obama. To all the diehard Hillary supporters that plan to vote McCain: The enemy of you enemy is not your friend. And Obama isn’t even your enemy. Obama will enact 90% of the things Hillary was in favor of. McCain will enact NONE of them. Forget about women’s rights under McCain. You aren’t punishing Obama supporters by voting McCain – you are punishing yourself, women, and your county. The Republicans are chortling away over this – and they WILL take advantage of you for it. Think about it, please!
Posted by: Kris | June 6, 2008, 3:32 am 3:32 am
LeeLee07,
That much was true and I am not here to disagree with you. The Clintons have had a large A/A support up until that moment he spoke of Jackson. What was needed from Bill was not to say anything at all. This is why I said that all though you may think what he said was harmless in fact hurt her. Ed Rendell, if you remember heavily supported Clinton in Pa and if you remember, when did she start saying “I have the working class white voters”? that was right after the Pa primaries and it was done because she was commandeered by Rendell to do. And with BO saying that small towns of America cling to guns and religion ONLY propelled her plight with the race issue. All this started after the PA primaries, in fact HRC didn’t up until that point mentioned anything about race, going forward it became the Hispanics, and the white working class voters. Right before PA it was a clean campaign and you can’t argue with that.

@PitBull61 – Yes, but by that time she had lost just about all of the AA votes, thanks to MSM. Everybody knew it. The pundits talked about it endlessly, the papers reported it, the polls showed it and it was all over the blogs. She quoted an AP article and like Bill before her, she said the truth. There was no lie, no spin, just the truth. Blacks don’t like to hear it, but by that time, 90% of the blacks were voting for Obama and they did that up until the end so what does that make us? It only emphasized the truth of the matter. The SC lie, and the Ferraro flap was done to death – So much so, that Keith Olbermann/MSNBC gave a rant about how racist she was. The very next day Jeremiah Wright makes his appearance. CNN had their commentators talking about how they “understood” why Wright felt that way and that all black churches were like that. Really??? Keith Olberman never said a word. MSM is still trying to give Obama a pass on this matter. They have not labeled Obama racist as they have the Clintons. Double standard? I think so.

LeeLee07,
You know what’s funny LeeLee? when this came about with HRC and the race card I actually saw through her soul and knew that she was not speaking of her words she is much more admirable than that. What I saw was again, her STRATEGISTS, and her HUSBAND at the forefront of most of her speeches. Bill saw something in this for him as well and if he’d let HRC handle her campain to show that she could stand on her own two feet it probably would have made a difference but things occur for a reason and I am quite sure you’ve heard that saying enough in your lifetime. Anyway, her speeches were prepared words by them. This is what damaged her I’m telling you this. And for the record, she NEVER wanted to contest Fl and MI this was done by her STRATEGISTS who have done nothing but give her ill advice for their own political gains. Why do you think up until the last minute her Super’s were switching over. When all is said and done you will come to know the real reasons to what happpened to her campain. SHE NEVER WANTED TO CONTEST FL AND MI and people/her supporters will never come to understand only what’s put in front of them. She was also instructed to not to concede when she knew it was over. Don’t get it twisted HRC is a very strong woman and it wasn’t about letting her 18 million voters down. It was about political gains for the company she kept is why she kept going. You can look at her and tell that something wasn’t right even though she kept a brave face but it was strained none the less. Just my thoughts

given her long-running fight for the best interests of many women and children throughout her life, it logically follows that anyone who hates Senator Clinton does not appreciate her work for others and such Clinton-haters would rather have Senator Clinton helpless and having a positive effect on others….therefore, haters of Hillary hate women and children…..

Congratulations on your historic victory, Senator Obama. You did it fair and square. However, I will not vote for Obama if Hillary is no. 2 on the ticket. She has that harsh, shrill voice that really turns me off. She reminds me of a stubborn, stern old lady librarian who scolded me for running around the library when I was a kid. Hillary thinks she has that GOD-given right to the presidency. She and Bill will manipulate and overpower Obama and find fault and orchestrate Obama’s ouster, so she can be in charge. She is a power-hungry manipulator, I tell you.

I would like to express my opinion to my fellow Democrats about this whole primary fiasco:
The Democrats should have won this election.
People wanted them to win.
Senator Obama is not vetted, and unknown with minimum experience.
For this man, with all of his “scary” friends and beliefs, to stand tall as our Democratic nominee is absurd.
He is still not vetted and because of that alone, he will lose this general election to McCain. McCain is a safe bet regardless if he is a Republicans.
Democrats would have won, if Hillary was on the top of the ticket.
Now that Obama has blocked votes from Michigan and Florida and taken delegates from Senator Clinton he will win the primary. But was it really worth it for him to win the ruling not to seat Michigan and Florida to lose those same states in November?
Americans are not stupid. Obama fought for the government. Hillary fought for the people. Who would want a President to not stand up for them?
I will not vote this year along with many in my community. All of us are disgusted with the media coverage for all candidates, even President Bush, but especially for the relentless daily attacks on whites and Senator Clinton.
I am totally embarrassed to have to stand up for Obama, his wife and radical friends and pastors that surround this candidate. I will never be proud of Senator Obama pertaining to his treatment of Michigan and Florida voters. Florida is still raw since the last election and Michigan votes were indeed “hijacked” from Senator Clinton. This was appalling to watch and very disrespectful to American voters.
If Obama becomes the winner, all Democrats will have to defend his patriotism, his radical left views, his Pastor and Church and God knows what else will turn up until the General election. Florida and Michigan will not forget that their voices were silenced either.
What is so sad, the Democrats had a prayer with Clinton: all the right voting blocs, she attracted big states, white men and women, military voters, Latinos, Jewish voters, Cuban voters, Catholics and Women. She fought for Michigan and Florida, the people mattered.
Now the Democrats have a man, a newcomer, that is strong with elitist and African Americans, wins states like Alaska and Hawaii and has a problem with all of those blocs of voters that Democrats need to win.
Democrats, had Senator Clinton, the strongest candidate in their grasp. Now the weaker of the two, Senator Obama, bubbles to the top with no credentials. Democrats truly blew it.
This is the first time in my life that I am NOT proud to be a Democrat. I am totally embarrassed of our candidate.
Clinton does not need Obama. Obama needs Clinton, without a doubt.

Still a few of those disgruntled Hillary supporters spewing their utter disgust with Hillary losing. Don’t let all that nastiness fester to long within you, because it will slowly deplete your brain cells if it hasn’t already. So many of you are just posting rants without any logical thoughts.

Well, I think the Clinton supporters have a right to be angry. Its only human.
Lets remember folks, this was a LONG drawn out affair. 16 months. The most hotly contested nomination in history. The most voters in history.
the first african american and woman to end up being the real contenders.
The press hasnt really given Senator Clinton her due in how much SHE brought the race to a frenzy. It wasnt just Obama. It was both of them.
They are both excellent people, worthy of our respect.
Obama has no other real choice for vice president. Nobody whom has the experience or clout with voters.

Everyone should be afraid when two major political figures, of any party, have a secret meeting. There are people who love and support each candidate regardless of their good/bad characteristics and no amount of hateful, name calling postings is going to change their vote. Chill everyone and enjoy the campaigns, the speeches, the excitement!

Remember all us Democrats- MCCAIN IS BUSH3. If we vote for him because we are peeved just because our candidate did not win we will have endless wars, bad economy, an extremely conservative Supreme Court and all the lobbyists who work for foriegn governments at the expense of the American people controlling our country. Remember the McCain of 2000 is not the McCain of 2008. He is lock step with Karl Rove who is one of the worst human beings in the world. They did not mind outing a CIA agent just to score cheap political points. If that is the kind of people McCain chooses to closely associate himself with all for political expediency what does it say about his character. As Democrats we have to keep that is mind. MCACIN IS JOINED AT THE HIP WITH BUSH AND ROVE.

And. Jimmy the peanut Carter as well. George “to hell with America” McGovern and that US dollar shorting George “communist” Soros. What a FINE group of friends Obama has.

Hillary will not be offered the VP slot but will be offered a cabinet position, most likely Secretary of Health and Human Services. That way Hillary can be the lead person in pushing for universal health care, her pet project. Senator Jim Webb will be the Vice President. While I’m at it, John Edwards will be Attorney General and Joe Biden will be Secretary of State. IMHO

OK, I’m going to apologize in advance as this does not help the greater discussion and if Senator Clinton had won the nomination, I certainly would hhave voted for her but…not only does she live in an exclusive community in New York, it seems that her house in DC is grand enough to have a name. And the irony of the name is not lost on me. McCain, while an American hero, will get trounced this Fall because the Democratic platform of ideas is far superior to the Republicans’.

Hillar should not seek or accept the number 2 spot with Obama. We are probably going to take beating this November and Hillary need to stay clear so she can fix the damage in four years. By that time the DNC will have learned that the will of the majority is what counts and all the old Kennedy traitor types will either be dead or will have been taught a lesson. As for me, I will vote for McCain because I do not ever want to be associated with Obama’s brand of christianity and his radical wife and friends.

Oh, gee whiz, I guess the Obama Kool Aid Kids are right.
Let’s elect Obama, with his whopping two years of federal experience, most of which he has simply spent posturing and campaigning for the presidency.
Let’s elect Obama so he can put his Marxist beliefs into practice including that punitive marginal tax rates are good policy despite even Charles Gibson explaining to him that revenues increase with lower rates.
Let’s elect Obama, whose foreign relations experience consists solely of watching “Lawrence of Arabia” one night with his wife while the kids were upstairs asleep.
Let’s elect Obama, whose senior campaign advisor is already meeting secretly with the Palestinian terrorist organization HAMAS.
Let’s elect Obama, who has maintained a close, 25-year relationship with Jeremiah Wright and the hateful Black Nationalist movement. Then Obama pretends he didn’t know Wright is a bad guy.
Let’s elect Obama, who has a 17-year relationship with Chicago’s preeminant slum lord and scum bag Antoni Rezko, who helps Obama buy his house. Then Obama pretends he didn’t know Rezko is a bad guy.
Let’s elect Obama, who launches his state senate campaign with an event at the home of terrorist Bill Ayers, serves on a charity board with Ayers and gives speeches with Ayers. Then Obama pretends he barely knows the guy.
Let’s elect Obama, who promised us “change” in Illinois too, but has done nothing but cut deals to enrich himself and his wife while cashing our paychecks.
Let’s elect Obama, who cleverly flips off Clinton during a speech following his loss in Pennsylvania and smirks while the crowd cheers.
Let’s elect Obama, whose wife believes “America is a downright mean country” and that “It’s easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions, it makes you feel justified in your own ignorance…that’s America.”
Let’s elect Obama, who is a product of the Daley Machine, one of the most vile and corrupt political organizations in the history of mankind.
And the list goes on and on.
Gee, what’s not to like about Obama? Sure, he has experience, character and judgment to be the most powerful leader in the world during these especially challenging times. How tough can it be? LOL
Posted by: jim | June 6, 2008, 8:38 am 8:38 am
To RoseShankwiler: If you are willing to accept the fact that 4 more years of Bush/McCain will overturn Roe vs Wade, will bring an escalation of the War in Iraq and the deaths of more American soldiers, higher fuel prices and a worsening economy (McCain admits he knows nothing about the economy) then by all means vote for McCain. You deserve what you get.
Posted by: PhilBgood | June 6, 2008, 8:39 am 8:39 am
The reason that the Obama supporters cannot stop their name calling is because they are mostly young kids (teenagers and college kids) with very little life experience, no real knowledge of history or foreign affairs. I would dare say that none have ever had a mortgage or have had to pay for health insurance until recently if at all. They are part of a spoiled, “me” generation whose biggest concern is how to pay their college loans while continuing to purchase the latest Blackberry, ipod, etc.
Posted by: Ted | June 6, 2008, 8:39 am 8:39 am
How anyone can honestly believe Obama is a change from the same old political games is beyond me. He said his association with Rezko was a ‘dumb’ decision, that he didn’t know Wright was a rascist, that he wasn’t putting down small town workers, that he wants a bipartisan administration. He was voted “Most Liberal Senator” title last year, he wants gun controls, made a deal with Rezko even while knowing Rezko was under investigation for corruption, lied about not knowing Wright’s agenda, and told a liberal San Francisco audience what they wanted to hear about rural ‘hicks’. He told Judicial Watch he had no records from his term in the Illinois legislature and is using a Madison Avenue slogan ‘Change We Can believe In’ to try to get in the White House. He comes from a wealthy Hawaiian family even though he tries to portray himself as one of the downtrodden. 100 years ago he would have been called a snake oil salesman.

What it will all come down to in the end is Obama’s experience or lack there of. These are tough times which require real leadership. Obama is a great talker, but his resume is very thin. People will think long and hard before they elect a leader with no experience. There is also the matter of trust.

If you were really democrat there would be no way that after 8 years of a dictatorship with crooked policies and the ruination of our economy and standing in the world that you could even think of voting for another republican. You cant tell yourself with a straight face that McCain is the third bush term. I used to think that Bush was stupid but McCain blows him straight off the Stupidity radar. They called Kerry a flip-flop but he must have learned all his tricks from McCain. And to all the republicans getting cocky that while the democrats may be just now adjusting to the new nominee that you know that Hillary will have them all jump to Barack by convention time and then you will have the press coverage all over the Democratic convention with people not even remembering when the republican one is. And then we get to the debates where Obama will nail in the final nail into McCains political coffin. It wont even be close come November.

The truth is, if Barack Obama wants to be seen as a true agent for change, he can’t have the lobbyist-heavy Clinton on his ticket. If he didn’t kneel before her supporters’ every demand, she’d find ways to undercut his presidency with her power-hungry connections.
Agree or disagree with him, the only way he stays independent of monied power-brokers who want more of the same is by NOT putting her on the ticket. And he might lose some Democrats if he doesn’t mput her on the ticket, but he beats McLame even without her.

LeeLee: Yes, and it isn’t over because Hillary is keeping her delegates and is still considered a candidate. She certainly can fix Obama and the DNC if she declares herself as an independent. That would take several thousand votes away from Obama and split the democrats. I am a democrat but I would like to see them rot. Dean, Nancy and Reid plus Obama went behind the scenes to the superdelegates to make sure he would get the votes so Hillary wouldn’t win. I hope McCain wins the presidency so the democrats can suffer.

Obama does need Hillary and she has him in a bind if she isn’t on the ticket. She can declare herself as an independent and take several thousand votes or many a million or more from him and he would lose to McCain. This country hasn’t had a shocker since 9/11 but believe me they will get one if Obama is elected president. Hillary is ten times smarter in politics than Obama ever will be plus she has been to several countries. She never need to use someone else’s speeches like Obama used the speeches of RFK because he couldn’t form the words himself. Like RUSH stated on radio Obama cannot do anything for himself only if its crooked.

It appears to me that there is a “sense of urgency” now with Obama. He all of a sudden took time, very quickly and early after the nomination, to arrange a secret meeting with Hillary. Even though I am not an Obama supporter, I feel that he is making a smart move by meeting with her. If she is on the ticket with him, I will vote for the ticket, only because Hillary is on there and she is the most qualified for the Presidency or the Vice Presidency. If Hillary is not on the ticket, this Democrat will be voting for McCain in the fall.

Obama camp believes this anger will go away with in a month than they will be able to pick their VP!
They won’t pick Hillary!
Another reason is , Obama wants to help Hillatry to pay off her debt, I do have a friend a volunteer from the Obama campaign, she told me that Obama is raising money to pay off Hillary!
Obama’s help will be only to ay off Hill’s debt!
NO VP!

I think that anyone who is willing to vote against their best interst just becasue they feel their candidate got the short end of the stick is an idiot. Whoever will let John McCain appoint the next (maybe 2) Supreme court justice that wants to overturn Roe v Wade just for spite is an idiot. The person that will let John McCain keep us in Iraq indefinitely because they are mad at the media is an idiot. The person that will let 45million people go another decade without adequate healthcare because they are mad at Obama is an idiot.
How can you possibly validate voting against everything Hillary stood for just becasue she isn’t on the ballot? This country’s future is still on that ballot. I will bet dollars to doughnuts that even if Hillary is not the VP candidate she will still vote for Obama, Bill Clinton will be voting for Obama, Chelsea will still be voting for Obama. Do you know why they will? Because they are not IDIOTS!!!!
Get a clue.

Ok, enough of the slandering each other. We need to try to unify this party. I disagree with both Hillary and Obama, but I’m not going to skewer either one of them now. We have a major contest in November and I want a Democratic President. My biggest fear is that Obama/Clinton supporters will become complacent and just think the Dems have it in the bag. I’m 50 years old, and I will tell you younger voters, the Republicans will be out if full force and the war will be on. The Obama and Clinton fury was miniscule to what the GOP will be doing in the fall. We have to be ready. If the Dems can’t unify, put our personal bias’ behind us, then we will lose in November. I don’t want to see this. I was 100% Hillary Clinton, but I can swallow my pride and vote for the Dems…..lets join, not continue to divide. Just my opinion!

I see today’s Rovian/Limbaughtimized posters have acknowledged their embarrassment for Senator McCain: “Attack a lib. It’s all we have.”

Gee, anyone who won’t vote for Obama is a racist, a sore loser,a closet republican, or an idiot according to Obama supporters.
Way to woo the base to your side.
Yeah, you don’t need us.
Sure, we won’t REALLY vote for McCain (whose patriotism and honor has never been called into question) in November.
We will let slide Rezko, Wright, Palmer, typical white, religion clinging, gun toting, lying, sexist, people and attitudes, etc., etc., etc.
We will come together in the end for the sake of the party.
Sure we will. After all, the party has treated Hillary supporters so swell.

thank you jack and we need change,
your right it is easy to get caught up in the fights for what we want but we need to look out for our issues first.. both clinton and obama are similar in the issues and both have strengths and faults. just like 100 percent of AMERICANS..
we should stand together..

Hillary, Barack, we need you to team together. It’s going to take all the resources we got to fix this Republican nightmare.
Posted by: JOE | June 6, 2008, 9:45 am 9:45 am
in a compitition some one wins and someone doesnt.. but they are so close on the issues that no one is a loser in this.. obama supporters said if hillary won we would stand behind her, i cant vote mccain not because i think he is a nasty person (although i could find things to slam him on just like clinton and obama) but because i can NOT vote for this war and because i am worried about his own statement about his abilities with the economy… because of his issues with womens rights.
im not going to put my family threw that just to spit in someones face and say haha you needed me i didnt get what i wanted and neither did you…

Hillary CANNOT run as an independent. The rules of presidential candidates state that a party candidate who loses their primary is INELIGIBLE to run as an independent. (Rule II.A.) That’s it.
Posted by: Kathleen | June 6, 2008, 9:50 am 9:50 am
I will be voting McCain. I’ll have a call in to volunteer as soon as his office opens. Hillary as possible VP will have no effect on this decision.
If even 10% of Hilary’s supporters defect, McCain wins. I think it will be more than 10%. Most of the hard workers from her campaign here in TX have decided to vote McCain. They are party-active women for YEARS, who have never voted Republican in their lives.
Taylor, I understand your commitment to Democratic ideals, but the problem is, you are not voting for or supporting an ideal. You are voting for and supporting a man – a duplicitous, arrogant, unqualified, opportunistic man with no ideological center at all, other than one of convenience and a desire for political power.
Obama does not share your ideals, Taylor. Have fun pretending that he does, but you are fooling yourself in a BIG way. At least with McCain, I know that he shares some of my ideals, and the ones he doesn’t are at least honestly admitted.
I’ll take disagreement over a conniving lie any day of the week.
Bye Marshians. Thanks for all your hard work and passion.
McCain 08, Hillary 2012. Death to the Democratic Party in the meantime. I will work to see them BURN.

Mariann Pepitone ,.
we were warned that 911 would happen we just didnt listen and we are the ones who were in bed with bin laden before that so we knew he wasnt someone we should have been friendly with or someone we should have ignored.. but instead of going after him full force we played ring around the rosie with our mens lives in iraq for what? second of all the your talking about we need to be friendly to iran? well im pretty sure like i said before that clintons remarks and mccains pastor remarks were much more damaging than anything you can say about obama and maybe the fact that we gave chemical weapons to iraq to use against iran didnt help us…

Damn it, folks! Look at the issues and lets get behind our candidates! We want a Democrat in office in January 09. This back-biting, insulting each other, being ugly and rude, is ridiculous! This is just what the GOP wants us to do….fight against each other! Look at the damn issues and do the comparisions! How much more do we Democrats have to offer for our country than the Republicans? A hell of a lot! Not quit the whining, the turmoil, insults and all the other crap and lets unify…..its up to US……not the candidates! Please!!!!!!
Posted by: Jack | June 6, 2008, 9:57 am 9:57 am
Yeah let her run Independent. That way they will split the vote and keep the Republicans in power for 4 more years. Just like what Perot did that got us stuck with the freaking Clintons in the first place. She would NEVER be able to garner enough votes if she did that. And there are plenty of Democrats who will refuse to vote for Obama if he puts her on the ticket… people who can see through her BS. We’d be the laughingstock of the world with a Clinton in the White House again.
Posted by: tls | June 6, 2008, 9:59 am 9:59 am
Kathleen: You are wrong. Thousands of voters can write her name in and yes she can declare herself as an independent because it was already on the internet. She is keeping her delegates. Where have you been? Do you know how many voters can write her in? Haven’t you ever heard of that before? Furthermore she can make or break his run for the presidency by running as an independent. It was already asked on TV if she would do that.

Chuck,
im not so sure hillary will win in 2012// if she runs against a white or a women she is toast..
thanks to the fact that some supporters went to her because of race and others were republican switching over only for primary’s and if obama doesnt win we will know its because of her supporters so when she runs against they will all vote against her as a way to keep this stupid pay back thing going and in the end her supporters lose again.. but dont let that stop you!!
Posted by: melissa | June 6, 2008, 10:02 am 10:02 am
Jack, gove it up, Obama and his racist cronies divided the democratic party and you can talk till you are blue in the face and you will not change their minds. Obama and his pals have set race relations back 50 years and have only themselve to blame.

@ Billy Bob…..this may be so, but I have to think of our country and the shape it is in! We need a Democrat in office to turn things around. Whether you are an Obama supporter or a Clinton supporter, we are ALL Democrats. This “inner-fighting” will only keep the wound open longer….we have to start healing! Again, lets concentrate on the issues, support our Democratic ticket, and help our country. My last post on the subject! And I see just as much hate with Clinton supporters as I do Obama supporters….remember, ladies and gentlemen, we are Americans first ! Lets start acting like it! Have a good day!

Obama is too much problem to swallow for me!
I hope Hillary won’t accept his VP spot!

There are millions of Latino’s that would definately vote Clinton and he needs their votes. He also needs all the states he can get. He wouldn’t get WVA, KY or SD because they are racial states and make no bones about it.

i almost forgot to say that i agree that my daughter and EVERYONE black or white must take responsibility for the action they take.. and i dont think that the single fathers thing is about color more than age, i think the youth is in trouble they have many kids and dont take care of them but this problem isnt new when a man left a women alot of times he left his kids too he may have seen them on occasion and supported them though this is changing because women accept it almost encourage it when women that are willing to support a man and not make him act like a man… i b*tch about it daily to the girls i know that do that very thing… we cant complain about our boyfriends or husbands acting childish if we allow them to act like kids.. and cosby is right on what i have seen from him, yes agree!

Bottom Line: Dem voters are people looking for handouts and mad at others who have money, whether they worked their *ss off for it or whether it was handed to them. They are just too dumb to realize that the politicians they are voting for are the people that they hate. Obama and Hillary and others like them are sneaky liars and they tell the “whining people” what they want to hear just to get that POWER position. They are smart and know what to say to people, who cares if it’s all lies. Don’t be so naive to think they don’t have an agenda and would be okay if we all lived in subsidized housing and carried the same substandard healthcare. NO THANKS! I’d rather bust my but as a single mom and work my way through college so I can provide for myself and my daughter, and put MY OWN roof over her head. AS I DID! I promise you Obama won’t be your next door neighbor anymore than Hillary would be. At least we know that Hillary wants power and we know how she acts in the White House. Obama is a liar and NO ONE really knows what he plans to do because guess what!!! He tells everyone something different. Black people voting for Obama because he is black aren’t doing themselves any favors. As long as someone keeps telling blacks they are victims and giving them handouts, they are never going to realize the value of work and responsibility and they are going to stay right where they are now, below whites in socio-economic value. It seems that is where they like it though, so oh well, so be it. Once again, most people are just too stupid to see this. Google Bill Crosby’s thoughts on this. That man knows what he is talking about. Bush hasn’t been the best president, but at least he has been honest. Going into Iraq, he told Americans this wasn’t going to be easy or cheap and we were all behind him because 9/11 was still very real to us. We’ve gotten comfortable again and no one is supporting him anymore, which is crazy. Please talk to some troops that have been there or are going. Also, Bush has offered solutions to many of our economic issues, especially gas, but has been consistantly shut down by the democratic controlled Congress and Senate. It’s his fault though right? Pull your heads out of your butts and quit complaining! I will be voting McCain. All I can say is that Obama is a scary option for president of this country. I hope that Hillary doesn’t run with him, because then he might actually have a shot at it.

Sue: Wake up: Hillary won CA, NV, NY, NJ, OH, TN, TX long before the Wright comments appeared on TV. Where have you been? It was after the Wright and Father P that she won PR, WVA, KY and SD. WVA, KY and SD are racial states and make no bones about it. Montana is a neighbor of SD but that state is not. Some of the states she won is not because of Obama being half black they felt that with another Clinton in the white house the economy would turn around and there would be no deficit again. More jobs would be filled. Race will always be an issue in Illinois and other states. I don’t have a problem with the black people and never had.

Mariane Pepitone at 10:13- I will tell you what I think. I think that the democratic party is irrelevant or becoming that way. I believe that Ted Kennedy saw the young voters coming out for Obama and pushed Obama (first to endorse and pressured other DNC insiders) in order to give new life to the FUTURE of the democratic party. I don’t think that his concern was focused on this election as much as the future of the party. He appealed to the new voters (knew that he would have 95% of the black vote as they have proven to vote race – example: Oprah) and with his help, the help of democratic party leaders, and a lot of help from the media crowned Obama as early as January in order to save the future of the party regardless of screwing the country in the present.

how many black people have ran? they have been proven to vote on race!! they voted only on the years that black men ran for office? how the h*ll did clinton get in then?

I am not a George Bush fan, I think he has made a lot of mistakes. My nephew served in Iraq, as well as several of my close friends sons. I was totally against going into Iraq, however, these young men and women have changed my mind. They all have stated that the American public doesnt understand that our military presence is needed in Iraq and that Bush made the right decision. I came back and said I felt it wasn’t fair that we have lost so many soldiers over there and the heartbreak it has brought. They were quick to answer that these soldiers died honoring America, thats why they enlisted in the first place.

Sara,
then we need to stop training them!! giving them weapons.. republicans!!!!
how was hussien taking us over? what about north korea? what about bin-laden?
why waist or mens lives and time in iraq?? war maybe needed but not as often as we think and it NEVER should be first choice because we didnt get the answer we wanted and wanted to puff out our chest and show them WHO IS BOSS!!!
most people know soldiers in iraq and alot know someone that died in iraq too, life is more important that a who’s b*lls are bigger contest.

It doesn’t matter if Obama were black or white, however, I just feel he has no substance on the issues. I agree, he “flip-flops” back and forth and its hard to get a straight answer from him. I don’t totally agree with McCain either, however, I feel he has a better grip on things that matter, i.e. the war, foreign affairs, the eonomy, the capital gains tax, than Obama. At this point, I’m a Democrat that will vote for McCain…..only because of the issues at hand.

Melissa: Calm down. Obama may be the first black democratic nominee for president, but there are black people in many other positions of power across this country. And, yes, blacks to vote race.—The point of my last post was Ted Kennedy’s concern with regard to the future of the party and grabbing the opportunity that came with the young, easlily manipulated voters. He had to also try and keep other members of the party (ie blacks) but, chose that women (with the help of his friends in the DNC) to write off the female vote or assume as good little ladies that they would accept defeat ONCE AGAIN and stay with the party and elect Obama regardless of the treatment of Clinton. After all, that is what women are supposed to do. They know their place, right? I have more respect for strong women that most of the women out there have for their gender. I include Oprah (or is it Orca) Winfrey.

How can you talk of experience. The person who has it is a former pres. No one else has been be4. Obama has consistently exhibited great judgement which makes a good President.
Advisers are there for the experience, Presidents makes sound judgement based on good advise. An experienced President can make a bad judgement eg GWBush dragging us to war in Iraq.
Follow the Dems they have the answers.
However, the choice is yours. The future of your generations are involved.
Are we saying no young American can lead us?

After the outright stolen nomination of Barack Obama. I’am now a registered Independent. The Crooked, backbiting, underhanded DNC and Democratic Party will never choose who I vote for. I believe that Barack Obama has many skeletons rattling around in his closet and the Republicans can’t wait to let them all out and I’m going to sit back, pop some popcorn and watch it all unfold on the likes of CNN, MSNBC, and maybe Fox News. The fact of the matter is this. Obama knows that he can’t win the general without Hillary that is why he hurried up and met with her in private. But the damage has already been done. The High handed idiots that run the DNC have split the party down the middle for good. We will never forget what that did to us all, and especially to Hillary Clinton. Come on Republican attack machine I can’t wait!
