I’d love to see a bottom 10 McCain VP list. The one you did for Obama was very well done.
Posted by: Mike | June 5, 2008, 11:20 am 11:20 am
Yeah I would say just to keep it even you need a mcCain list too.
Which actually would be funnier…and perhaps more hurtful…
I think you may not even need to many graphics since the funny characters that are most hurtful to McCain actually have real photos of the two arm and arm often.
He and the lobbyists…
He and female lobbyists he has been rumored to have relationships with
He and Charles Keating
He and GW

“I’m not watching it. Why wasn’t there equal air time for McCain’s bottom VP list?”
Would you have watched one about McCain’s bottom 10 without even thinking about demanding one for Obama? Yeah, I thought so.
Tolerance… its not just about bigger colony insects, you know.

Obama asked Caroline Kennedy to choose the VP for him.
Is she involved in politic?
What does she know about politic?
Is this election about Kennedy reincarnation?
Everyone at work who listened today found it hilarious.
Posted by: RL in Illinois | June 6, 2008, 12:00 am 12:00 am
That was embarrasingly biased and not funny. It was a smear job that rehashed most of the negative talking points on Obama. Honestly, that script could’ve been written by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.
Something tells me the people who thought it was funny comprise the 25% or so who think Bush is a good president. Either that or they’re friends of the people who produced this terrible segment.
Posted by: Tom | June 6, 2008, 12:51 am 12:51 am
How transparent can you be? As others have already noted, if equal time had been apportioned to airing a McCain list you might have garnered a little more credibility. As it stands, this was nothing short of a pathetic smear masquerading as news entertainment.
Not to worry though. ABC had already lost this viewer and many more of my friends and family after the last farce your network advertised as a presidential debate. Considering the ratings hit the network ultimately took for that, it’s unfortunate you don’t seem able to learn from your mistakes.
“RL in Illinois” said that everyone at his work thought this was hilarious. Apparently RL stands for Rush Limbaugh!
Seriously, this was a pathetic smear-job that was thinly veiled in a humor segment. It was terrible. And who cares if they haven’t had a similar segment about McCain and his many skeletons?
Showing more propaganda and BS about EITHER party is not Nightline’s job. Hiding political propaganda in supposedly humorous skits is best left for Fox News and Comedy Central, not ABC.
Posted by: Cheryl | June 6, 2008, 5:14 pm 5:14 pm
So when will we see McCain’s list? He has more than enough for you to choose from.
You’re supposed to be news aren’t you? Not a late night comedy sketch?
I hope you’re half as ashamed of yourselves as I am ashamed of you.

Wow, a new low, even for ABC. Couple this with a lack of fairness and “equal time”, and the horrendous sham of a debate hosted by ABC, and it’s no wonder you guys are seen as pathetic right wing shills.

This is news? No fact checking. No journalistic integrity. No unbiased coverage. Just salacious- ratings- getting -Jerry Springer- type crap. I’m so sick of it! If I want to watch political commedy, I’ll watch John Stewart. At least he is billed as commedy, and not the REAL news. I don’t think there IS real news anymore.
This from the station that brought you the Path to 911, the incredibly bad debates, and recently cut off Obama’s end of the primaries speech just when Obama began criticizing McCain. As others have said, this isn’t funny, it’s more of the same from the corporate bought media.

Funny? Maybe. A little. Does it belong on Nightline? I don’t think so. You shame Ted Koppel with this kind of crap. Having done it, though, I think it’s only right to follow up, and soon, with a McCain version. Hey, he can name as VP lobbyists for Myanmar and Iran. Or General Petraeus for that American military junta look. What the heck, since a McCain win would mean another four years of Bush, why not go ahead and name Bush as his VP. There’s no telling what damage the pair of them could do. Cheney is a possibility. Gosh, we’re halfway there, and that’s just off the cuff. But off the cuff is what Tapper did, and I bet he gets paid far more than I do. Shame on you.

Now that bottom 10 was very funny. Some people just don’t have a sense of humor (nor does it look like they believe in the 1st ammendment). Maybe because it was a little too close to the truth. That Harriet Christian part had me laughing out loud.
By the way, for every one commenting here that they will no longer watch ABC, I will recruit two new ABC viewers. I’ve already emailed the clip to about 100 folks. Hilarious.

The funniest things about these clips showing Obama with his pals Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Pfleger, Dohn, Hamas, etc is the Obama supporters reaction. Obama is new to the scene and is unknown. All of these shady relationships are recent history. And every time, the Obama fans, shout “what about Keating, Keating?”. They pick a 20 year old story about McCain where he was cleared by Congress of any wrongdoing, he has been re-elected by his home state since and it has come up in every election he has been in. Plus everyone already knows about it, hence there ability to shout “Keating, Keating” every time.

RL in IL, you and your friends should watch McCain’s Nightmare and see the first thing that comes up. It has almost 2 millions views and is much more telling and relevant than this Nightline segment could ever hope to be.
As someone else said, digging into every single person Obama has ever known in any way is pretty pointless. McCain has been around a very long time and something tells me we could very easily make a smear piece about his fundraisers over the years, his friends the many, many lobbyists that currently work on his campaign.
His Reverend Hagee said things that are far worse than the ridiculous things Reverend Wright could ever hope to say. Among them that poor people should starve, that the antichrist will be Jewish, that my Catholic church is a whore and that God sent Hitler to be a great hunter for the Jews.
Strangely we rarely here that discussed in the mainstream media.
