I agree. They do need to “get over it”. This election is NOT all about them. This election is about the nation as a whole. Hillary herself is the one one who needs to get her supporters on track.

The democratic party has taken women for granted for a long time. Just like they’ve taken AA voters for granted a long time. Taking voters for granted is never a good thing. Obama needs to talk to Hillary’s voter, especially the women, who feel the media was sexist toward Hillary. He needs to condemn it, publically. And he needs to make nice with Hillary Now, no matter how much it pains him. The risks are great if he does not do this.

If you really believe McCain is different from Bush, You are fooling yourself. Please tell me what he will do differently? Is he going to stand up to Chenny’s War Inc. to make a decision that makes sense? I think not. Is he going to work on Health care reform so that small businesses and million of people can afford to get health care, I think not. His core mantra is Tx cut (like Bushe’s). Well it has not worked for lat 8 years. Why should it work now?

“the democratic party has taken women for granted for too long”
are you kidding?
Women’s issues are at the forefront of the democratic parties battles…
equal pay
roe
children’s healthcare assistance
guess what …McCain and the RNC opposes ALL of these issues.
In the democratic party they ARE the litmus test.
If you vote for McCain you reinforce a very bad stereotype. This is about issues… and the people they effect especially women, lower income children, the vets…and America’s future as a nation in this global community and population that has arisen with finite resources.

I guess you still think he’s a “cool dude” and don’t want to write anything too negative about him.
(everyone must read The Nation July 7th article, Loving John McCain. You can read it online. This is why Obama can’t be limited by public financing. He has to come up against the MSM who fell in love with McCain in 2000)

HP Boston (if you are a real democratic woman and not a Republican implanted bot), there is very little policy differences between Obama and Hillary. It will be very easy to embrace Obama if you pay attention to his policy. That’s how my wife and I settled this issue. I was willing to support Hillary because I saw very little differences from Obama in her policies.

RUSSERT: The fact is you are different than George Bush.
SEN. McCAIN: No. No. The fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I’ve been totally in agreement and support of President Bush.
Sounds like McCain advocates more of the same Bush “tyranny”.

Jack, are you going to investigate Obama’s claim about his vote to help the wonded troops in his first general election ad? Weekly Standard was the first to catch this:
So Obama’s new ad, the first of the general election, “cites Public Law 110-181 when he talks about his efforts to extend ‘health care for wounded troops who’d been neglected.’”The problem? Obama never showed up to the vote. He was actually too busy campaigning to make it back to Washington to vote for the bill, but wants the American people to think he deserves the credit.
Posted by: frieda | June 21, 2008, 11:25 am 11:25 am
FIRED IP!
Released garb of Obama in Muslim clothes? That had been in the public domain for months. Obama WAS in traditional garb— no mention was made of Muslimism or any other ism, what was notable is that he looked rather goofy, much as Dukakis did in his snoopy hat when riding in a tank. I say again, HILLARY CLINTON NEVER ONCE SAID THAT OBAMA WAS A MUSLIM, NOT ONCE.
Also, please note that Obama looks goofy playing basketball with his shirt tucked in. He looks even goofier bowling. If I release goofy pictures of the opposing candidate its to try to make him look goofy to the electorate. It rarely ever works as a political strategy. What Obama is doing and saying now is fairly clear, he still feels threatened by some strong, black women and he’s attempting to use lies in order to help them “get over it”.

Actually, the Clinton camp intentionlly released pictures of Obama in African (Muslim looking) clothes. Then they got caught doing it.
Hillary pulled the “He’s not a Muslim…as far as I know” crap. That was an INTENTIONAL statement to cast doubt.
Are you suggesting that Hillary didn’t know what her campaign was doing or the implications of what she was saying?
She’s too intellegent not to know that.
Get past your anger and face the truth. She tried to use the “He’s really a Muslim” inuendo to her advantage.
It’s old school politics. Spread the fear by inuendo and false accusations.

Actually it was the moronic voters who bought into BS Republican rhetoric about “family values”, “patriotism”, and GOP fear mongering rather than evaluating the actual effect of Bush’s potential agenda.
Obama is 100% right. People will vote against their own personal and economic interests under the false notions they are supporting their gun rights, religion, or “freedom”.

IT doesn’t matter who wins, there are going to be a lot of disappointed voters in NOV.
The Public financing issue is a none starter. How many of you actually supported it, checked off the box? How well does it work with the 527s and other programs? Did it actually broaden the field so that less financed, less well known, less rich individuals have the opportunity to run? Is it financed enough so that all 50 states can be in play?
If the airwaves are owned by the US why is it that public financing, or not has to pay for the use of those airwaves?
There are several “bitter” Clinton supporters but majority will vote Obama. If you look at the recent polls Obama gains more Republican votes then McCain gains Democrats/Clinton supporters vote. Obama leads in Independents. As this process continues several Clinton supporters will come around and some won’t. Either way, Obama wins this election. Thanks to Obamacans and Independents.
It seems the people running our government have all lost their minds. They can’t see past their party or their gender or race. The can’t keep anything in perspective, or think rationally. Obama played the race card just like Bill Clinton said he did.
His campaign has used the race card and money to bully voters, the media, and probably the superdelegates.
And the DNC just sat back and let it happen. Obama has deceived America by saying he was different.
I pray voters wake up to this deception and dirty politics before November.

Obama found a loop hole in workaround the LOBBYIST system. Its called BUNDLER’S. Look it up Obama fools. You will see BUNDLER’S are much more a corrupt system than LOBBYIST.
That way a few people can actually break down 100 of millions of dollars of donations to make it look like each donation was only about 109 dollars. SOUNDS LIKE OBAMA IS SLICKER THAN A THIEF and the sad part is the news never reported this is how it appears its only small donors supporting Obama when that is so false.
In the midst of contemplating why Al Gore and John Kerry lost to George W. Bush, I look at why Hillary, a more intelligent, our former first lady, wife of a popular, intelligent President lost to Obama, a hypocrite to the highest level, serving in the Senate only 147 days, husband to a wife who is not really proud of our country until he was starting to get some huge number of votes.
It’s not DNC, Swift Boating, Karl Rove, popular or electoral college, media. The reason is simply the American voters.
Obama plays the race card while he takes African American supporters for granted and keeps them at arms length.
Meanwhile he is pandering, comforting, reassuring, and turning backflips to get white and Jewish votes.
He met with AA pastors last Monday in private and told them to use a back exit to avoid reporters. Was it to protect the pastors or to avoid being seen with them?
Reminds me of his closed meeting in San Francisco when he made the bitter comments. Or praying in the basement with Rev.Wright out of public view.
Obama is just way too calculating and sneaky.
Yes, Riley.
And let’s not forget the two women in traditional head garb who were forced to move from behind Obama’s podium just this past week also.
Vote for me, just don’t be seen WITH me.

I’d like to say that anyone who votes for someone the likes of Clinton or Obama or McCain deserves what they get.
Problem is: we all suffer the consequences. Therefore I’d like to say: just once, just once in your lives try to
forget about party politics, do the little bit of research necessary to learn more about these candidates other than
what you read or hear in the media and try to have an original thought of your own. If you don’t know what that is,
google it. Take this simple test: if you cannot in detail explain your candidate’s policy on fiscal policy,
monetary policy, foreign policy and the constitution. If all you can mutter about your candidate is: “he/she will bring change”
then you don’t know your candidate and you shouldn’t be voting.

Hi everybody!!!!
My name is Redneck and ABC deletes
my posts everytime.
Where’s the free speech??????Last time
i checked the U.S constitution the 1st
amendment still there………
Barack Obama grew up in an average, middle American climate, and sometimes uses a street vernacular that the highly polished, ‘holier than thou’ may find too direct. To the general people, this phrase is widely used, and understood. It is not a put-down, as some suggest, but he could have chosen his words more carefully.
When people finally focus on Barack’s stance on the issues, they will find Barack supports the issues most important to women. Universal Health Care. Women’s rights to choose. Education. All of these are very closely held by both Barack and Hillary.
John McCain, on the other hand, is against all of these. He voted against the education bill for Veterans of the Iraq war. Of all the people you’d expect to defend the rights of the Military, John McCain’s stance on this issue baffles.
John McCain is against womens rights to choose. He is a staunch Pro-Life advocate, endorsing abstinence as the only ‘right’ way. History has shown this isn’t the correct path, and is counter to the visions that Hillary proposed.
John McCain wants to privatize Social Security, instead of funding it like Barack Obama is proposing. John McCain is a senior citizen, so you’d think he’d have a better view of the plight of our elders than this. McCain’s approach is fully opposite that of Hillary.
John McCain is against providing Health Care to our citizens, instead he wants to shovel more money into the insurance industry in the hopes that they will share this with us. It didn’t work for Bush, and its foolhardy to think it will work now.
Everything Hillary stood for, John McCain is against, and Barack Obama supports. A vote for McCain is a vote against Hillary, against Barack, against America.
Lets defeat the Republican machine whose only goal is to pad the wealthy, and elect Democrats who support the average American. Vote for Democrats in all challenges this fall, from the local candidate, to the state candidates, to president.
A change we can believe in.

Larry – remember a little document called the constitution? It does not give the federal gov the power to legislate and tax and provide “universal health care”. Not only that: take a look at VA hospitals. There is your gov run health care in action. It’s a disgrace. Universal health care is not only unconstitutional it’s not doable by the fed gov and is not an issue I want my president addressing at all! Education is another. Everyone knows the DOE is also an unconstitutional agency for which we are taxed $80 billion a year for. Education is to be governed at the state level. Another issue I do not want my president addressing at all. Do you realize that if an agency is not legal under the constitution, not legal under our country’s rule of law that it is illegal and the president swears to uphold and defend the constitution. Social security is not provided for in the constitution either. Another agency that we are taxed for that is by the rule of law illegal. Sounds like your candidate is criminal.

He’s the one who needs to take the lead in “Getting Over It.” The appointment of Patti Solis-Doyle, the imploring of Hillary supporters to “Get Over It” are not the principled, strokes of a unifier. They are the petty moves of a passive aggressive individual who still thinks he can sit in the pews while his surrogates spew hate! Sick of the way Obama tries to dictate to the “news” media; and voters in general. what to do; what to say; how to say it; etc. Obama is not about change–he comes from old style Chicago politics; just take a look at his close friends and associates from Chicago; that truly says alot about the man’s character.

On Election Day the very first words to Obama should be “get over it” to quote him. What the Democrats have not realized that Obama is TOTALLY unacceptable as a President, he can’t communicate well, lies, and has ties to some very nasty people. So we are suppose to forget all of this and just vote for him anyway because he is the Democratic nominee. Out of respect to John McCain who actually fought for this country (how did Obama put it as the soldiers as “wasting their lives”), broken systems and all so that we could sleep in a safe environment, I will thanks him personally for my freedoms by voting for him on Election Day. And, Mr. Obama, yes I know you are black, but that is no reason to vote for you!

Look here guys. Something’s wrong with our nation. In a politico article, it estimates that “Obama racked up as many as 120 daily newspaper endorsements, compared to around 40 for his main rival, New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. McCain racked up more than 30 such endorsements during the Republican primary”.
It’s one thing to endorse a candidate; it’s another to endorse a candidate who only spends 143 days in the Senate.
Obama is much more right on the issues than McCain. But it would be foolish to overlook his tendency to channel and use the hate of his supporters. Whether it’s hatred of America, or whites or of Hillary Clinton, Obama never quite gets out in front and says this is wrong and must stop. Now he controls all of the Dem party machinery and is the head Dem — it’s up to him to get in front and lead. He has no one to blame but himself if there is acrimony. He’s not an outsider now — he runs the show!
Funny that Obama used those words “get over it.” The same words his supporters have been saying ad nauseum to us these many weeks.
Well, no, Obama, we won’t get over it. We won’t get over it until Election Day, when 25% of Hillary Supporters (and counting!) cast their votes for President John McCain. I expect we will all “be over it” by then – oh yes, we will.

Reba – There are NO ignorant people on this blog. I (along with many other people who read the article) found his remark to be as Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif. said, to be “dismissive” and arrogant.
Hillary Supporters do not need Obama’s supporters to explain/interpret to us what he really meant when he SAID what he really meant. We are smart enough to do that on our own.

I am so glad that congressional black caucus had a great discussion and were able to discuss their feelings to help with the healing process.
What was great to learn at the end that the entire black caucus UNANIMOUSLY (including Watson who misinterpretted what Obama said) decided to unite to defeat McCain in the Fall.
I do NOT want Roe vs Wade to be overturned. McCain definitely CAN NOT win the election in the Fall or there goes the supreme court for decades which will affect my personal freedom.
There is no way we can have a third Bush term in the Fall.

Gimme a break. Obama walked in and lied to the caucus. He said Hillary called him a Muslim. Hillary has not ONCE referred to Obama as a Muslim. How does the press let him skip by and this kind of stuff?

Obama, no vetting allowed!
Hillary/Your Choice 2012
=======================================
Westcoastmessenger,
Since there is NO audio of what was actually said in the meeting who knows the EXACT language that was said. Instead we get a report of what people said that was said in the meeting which may not be the EXACT words and we can’t get the gest of the meaning of what was said without listening to it.
Jake had some of the conversation in quotes but since there is no audio, perhaps that exact language wasn’t said. It is difficult to remember what is said in a meeting unless it is taped or transcribed immediately. Thus I am VERY SUSPICIOUS of any of the quoted language.
In terms of “Obama could be a Muslim” from the Hillary campaign, I do remember a couple of incidences where the Hillary campaign tried to imply to Americans that Obama was Muslim. The first was the pic that was on Drudge in which Obama was in the Somalian garb. Drudge said it was from the Hillary campaign. To uneducated viewers it did look like Obama was in a Muslim garb.
The second incidence was a 60 minutes show when Hillary was asked if Obama was a Muslim. Instead of answering absolutely NOT. Hillary instead said that Obama wasn’t a Muslim “as far as I know”. That kind of response says to viewers that perhaps there is indeed doubt that Obama is a Muslim.
Also, one of Hillary campaign workers did send out info that Obama had gone to school at a Madrassa when indeed he did not. That Hillary staff member was fired.
The bottom line is that BOTH SIDES (Obama and Hillary campaigns) bashed each other in the primary but in time healing has to happen so that BOTH SIDES in time can “get over it”. Women need to heal and African-Americans need to heal.
Some Hillary supporters who are Obama haters will NEVER heal but the vast majority of Dems will heal for we Dems do NOT want Roe vs Wade to be overturned which is what will happen under a McCain administration.
Obama lost my support when he did not attend Dr. Martin Luther King’s memorial along with the other presidential candidates. From that point on he was suspect in my book.

Hi,
Haven’t seen you around lately.
Nice seeing you ;-)
Oh, Edna, get over it—–there are Hillary Supporters and OTHER Democrats that just plain do not like obama as the choice to reflect the face of the Democratic Party……this includes independants and Edwards supporters, also……it just isn’t ALL Hillary Supporters who don’t like obama and will not vote for him.
If Democrats just do not like him, they don’t have to vote for him—–it’s their choice. Many could wait another 4 years for another choice—–after all, it has been, what?? 8 long years now under bush—–what’s another 4 years of McCain?

Also, I am aware that Nancy, Dean and Reid went behind the scenes to make sure the superdelegates vote for Obama because Nancy wants to be the woman in power and Dean hates Hillary with a passion. Obama brags about how 90% of his contributions come from small <$20 contributors. That he doesn't want to use public $'s as the system is broken.
That's BS as he is getting 90% of his money from the taxpayers that fund the nation's welfare programs, both on the national and local levels.
So the taxpayers (you and I) are being used big time.
He's no more than a 90 day (military description)wonder on the National scene (actually 143 days).
He doesn't know much about many things and has to rely on his "advisors", each with their own Liberal agenda. The USofA is in for a world of hurt if we sit back and let him become president.
He claims he doesn't support terrorism but look at those that do and support him. They must see something that they like, in him, that gives them comfort and assurances that they will not be in harm's way from the US when he gets in office.

Can’t wait to see what America will look like after the next four years of Bush and his staff. (with one change of course, McCain replacing Bush), but all similar policies in place. Get as much of the countries resources and wealth into the hands of the wealthy as quick as possible. (extending the tax breaks will save Cindy and John close to 400,000 in their taxes alone). The wealthiest 5 or 10% will get richer, the rest of us will drown as our country falls apart and suffers from criminal neglect. Wait until Katrina, in one form or another, comes to your town!

“Any American that votes for Obama cannot not, repeat, cannot be a true American.” You can repeat this as many times as you want; that does not make it true. You can be as defiant and stubborn as you wish, but that is not worth noticing. You only mean to trash the best candidate for office… but you shall not prevail. The Clintons revealed themselves for what they were and were rejected. We are moving on.
I am getting sick of Obama pulling the race card out. Never did the Republicans mention the word black about Obama. Its the Democrats who made blacks have a racist problem.
Jack:
Obama did not WIN the primary through the delegate system (neither candidate did), and was in no position to HAND OVER anything to anyone.
Obama was GIVEN the nomination after pressure was applied by the leaders of the DNC, who set arbitrary deadlines for the SUPERDELEGATES to declare for their candidate, instead of allowing them time to make up their minds on their own schedules.
Posted by: Lee | June 22, 2008, 12:37 pm 12:37 pm
So liberals don’t like the Iraqi War. Well, the Democrats were in charge during WWI, WWII and every conflict including Viet Nam up to the Gulf War. Liberals like to use body counts, so count up the body count from 1940 to the Gulf War and see which party has the most blood on its hands.
Now we have liberals and Obama talking of a windfall tax on the oil companies and nationalizing them. Sorry this is not Cuba or Venezuela, This the capitalist nation of the USA. Those profits will go to stockholders and pension funds as dividends. The oil companies are presently headquartered in the US, but they are international companies and could be anywhere. Be careful, liberals, they might move and then who will pay all those taxes?
Followers tend to be hypnotized
by leaders they cling to as
their saviors.
Candidate Clinton herself
was an unreconciled hostile
person. Though she knew she
had lost, it took her many
days to concede.
Some of her supporters are
still seething with anger
and remain perturbed.

FYI Lee – The super delegates had alaready made up their minds weeks or months before they declared. They only reason they waited was to let Hillary run out the clock. They could have shut it down in early May, but HRC would have screamed and cried. But she still lost.
jmc 663:
Either way, Obama still did not WIN the nomination via the DELEGATE system.
It was the SUPERDELEGATES who put him over the top, regardless of when they made up their minds, and who theoretically, are not required to actually VOTE for their candidate of choice, until the end of August.
They were just urged to voice their choice at this time by the DNC.
Posted by: Lee | June 22, 2008, 1:33 pm 1:33 pm
Lee,
Waiting until the end of August to have a Democratic Nominee would have been suicide for the Party. Letting John McCain have all Spring and Summer to run a GE, while sidelining Obama and Clinton is the very best way to lose an election.
I just saw Joe Bidden on Meet the Press this Sunday and boy, he defends Obama like Obama is the Messiah or something. It’s getting ridiculous. Obama is a serial liar. You cannot defend him even with a magic wand.
They have committed suicide anyway, regardless of when they chose to proclaim Obama the nominee.

What did Mr. Obama mean about “get over it”? Did he mean “forget everything in the past and stand behind him”?
It’s a bad joke.

NOWHERE, ABSOLUTELY NOWHWRE does the record show that Hillary ever referred to Obama as a Muslim. How can Obama get away with saying that bald-faced lie?
———————-
Actually, the Clinton camp intentionlly released pictures of Obama in African (Muslim looking) clothes.

To call ANY politician in this election a “liar” or “flip-flopper” is an oxymoron.
Name ANY candidate that did not “change their mind” multiple times in the past six months – there’s not one.
People like McCain, Clinton, and Obama are all just politicians. That’s what they do.
And how do we know when a politician is lying to us?
Come on, you know the answer.
So arguing about who is “honest” is a joke.

Not correct.
And in return we get an intensly corrupt administration that actually takes away our civil liberties and drives our economy into the ground.

Ignorant people are READING way too much into what Obama said. I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with what Obama said. Obama basically said in time there will be healing when he said what he said. Obama basically said that time will help people get over it.

8 long years now under bush—–what’s another 4 years of McCain?

still, no bho…my vote is for the country over party. my vote will be for mccain.

HP Boston: You are so right. Obama is too sure of himself and is extremely arrogant. He thinks America owes him the presidency. I don’t owe him anything and I am not voting for him and neither is my family or friend’s. When I vote for a president he is not a former anti-american white hating candidate. Any American that votes for Obama cannot not, repeat, cannot be a true American. There has been a big jealousy over The Clinton’s and it could be because they accomplished their goals in life and earned the millions they have. Also, I am aware that Nancy, Dean and Reid went behind the scenes to make sure the superdelegates vote for Obama because Nancy wants to be the woman in power and Dean hates Hillary with a passion. They are as crooked as Obama’s pal Rezko. But things may not run as smooth for Obama as his voters think We don’t know what will happed between now and August.

They must see something that they like, in him, that gives them comfort and assurances that they will not be in harm's way from the US when he gets in office.

why do Clinton supporters keep being antagonist towards Obama, someone had to win. it could have been either way. so, had Obama lost , would you Clinton supporters not hope every body come together to move her agenda forward? Morover , the two have very similar package for governance.
OBAMA IS NOT PERFECT, STOP COMPARING HIM WITH PERFECTION, COMPARE HIM TO MCCAIN, and feel, see the difference.
IF WE AS A COUNTRY MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY CALLED OBAMA EVEN HEAVENS WON’T FORGIVE US.

Besides, DNC should not take it for granted that whoever they nominate (by manipulation) will get our vote!!

I am glad to see that the 15% of AMericans who think George Bush is going a great job and that AMerica is on the right track are contributing faithfully to the blogs.
Wait until Katrina, in one form or another, comes to your town!

quite frankly–if you think you can live thru 4 more years of what we are dealing with now–a war we cannot pay for–no jobs–high gas prices —borrowing money from china–heating–oil–unaffordable–the poorer of our people will suffer this winter—-this was not brought on by obama.take a good look at present administration.

The party that has shredded the constitution to cover up their corruption. They party that fired U.S. Attorneys for political reasons. The party that prosecuted the democratic govenor of Alabama for political reasons. The party that witheld help to Katrina victims for political reasons. The party that routinely gives no bid contracts to its cronies. The party that has taken our great country to the brink destrution and finamcial ruin. The party that questions every penny designated to help average americans but are more than happy to push any and averything that helps corporations, lobbyist and the rich.

Some of her supporters are
still seething with anger

Obama’s downfall is his supporters. Their eagerness to taunt, inability to keep their cool when their candidate gaffes, and the anger they explode with when confronted by his character issues is all any good debater needs to have them demonstrate their inability to lead by example.
They live to be the victims.
Just keep punching their buttons.

second, bho supporters cannot seem to understand that not voting for bho is not sour grapes or pay back. it is, for many, based on the idea, as in the primary, that WE DID NOT LIKE, TRUST, OR SUPPORT BHO. PERIOD. regardless of political ideology, i do not care for the man, and cannot begin to cast a vote for him.
his supporters are just the icing on the cake.

CBC members shouldn’t be upset with Obama because they backed the wrong horse. Nor should they be upset if they suffer primary challenges because their districts want to know from now until the end why they were too punkish to bet on hope especially when the same people were willing to back them when they were young and inexperienced in mixed districts.
I’d say get over is right. Why are they so willing to roll over for everyone but Obama is the real question?
