John Kelly got it right. Lumping Hispanics into a voting block is absurd. But, few pundits get it.

The term Hispanic is a big loose government coined term that hides almost as much as it identifies. It covers too much and too many and is almost meaningless. On one level it is all those of Iberian American origin. It doesn't include Filipinos but it should. It lumps all Latin American people together. It also makes no distinction between those who have been Americans for generations and new comers.
As any Californian or Texan can tell you, Mexican American voter registration shot up when Mexico permitted "dual citizenship." Among first generation Mexican Americans many did not take American citizenship because the old law barred them from owning and or inheriting homes and land in Mexico. When Mexico reformed, they stepped up and filed for US citizenship.
Each of the national groups among the hispanics has its concerns and traditions. They are often quite different. Additionally by the third generation Mexican Americans are so intermarried and part of the culture that they tend to vote like any other Catholic ethnic community. If you check out Hillary Clinton's vote it shows you that the Mexican Americans voted like the Irish, Italians, Poles and all the rest. Third generation Mexican Americans are not very concerned with immigration, while it remains vital to all first generation communities.
Latinos or HIspanics are a huge varied collection of peoples. They are not a racial or even a language group. Indeed the term laps over dozens of ethnic and cultural groups.
Whatever any pundit says, take it "con sal" with a little salt.

Susan2...did you know about the three year old boy that died in Obama's district in Chicago. Obama secured big bucks for the developers and they just pocketed the money.
