Versace Dedicates Fashion Line to Obama

ABC News’ Nitya Venkataraman Reports: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., describes himself as a "down-to-earth guy" but how many among the common class can say they inspired a Versace collection? On Saturday night, Donatella Versace dedicated her Spring-Summer 2008 collection — filled with tailored suits and scarves instead of ties — to the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee describing the candidate as the "man of the moment". Obama himself has described his approach to wardrobe as "fairly standard". In April, defending himself against charges of elitism and pushing back on his categorization as the "GQ candidate", Obama said "I think this is a fairly standard suit here…I basically buy five of the same suit, and then I patch them up and wear them repeatedly". Obama added that he had "four pairs of shoes". (It’s worth noting that the Obama campaign refused to divulge the brand names of either suit or shoe.) Still as far as the international fashion scene is concerned, between the five suits and four pairs of shoes, the Illinois Democrat must be doing something right. Versace described the Obama-dedicated style as one designed for "a relaxed man who doesn’t need to flex muscles to show he has power." She also offered some fashion advice for any politicians who hoped for follow suit. "I would get rid of the tie and jazz up the shirt," Versace told the Associated Press.

Well, now you’ve really given me a reasonable common sense reason to not like or trust Obama. Because he dresses well. What a good reason to consider when I go to the polls.
If you can’t tell, that is sarcasm. Obama represents the best ideas of our country. And whether he wears versace or a sears suit, I’m voting for him because my heart and mind tells me it’s the right thing to do.

Mr Obama should get the emmy and oscar for his performance as The man pretending to run for President.
How anyone who can beg money from people. Make great speeches, Pretend to be more than he is. Chicago Politics can destroy people along the way. Lying and manipulating common people to do what are told with mind manipulation and mind conditioning techniques. How the American people are so easily prey.
Anyone Can do it… Look At Me!

Very impressive! Versace dedicating a fashion line to anyone is remarkable in itself!
Apparently, Barack Obama has impressed Donatella Versace in a very positive way. I agree, Barack is the right choice.
You Go, Obama!

bhrandon… I agree that we’ve had eight years of a bad administration. But why is “getting even” a “necessary” part of American politics? Just because we’ve had a right-wing theocrat in power, why do we need to “get even” by electing a far-left Marxist? Why can’t we elect a MODERATE?!

Vero, I cannot argue with your logic. If Obama most closely follows YOUR ideals and viewpoints, then you should vote for him.
Unfortunately, too many people are planning to vote for him because he’s cool or because the DNC and the news media have TOLD us who they want. Or worse, because they see Obama as a way to “even the score” with what they perceive as “the establishment”.
Both parties have weak candidates, so this is one of the most peculiar elections ever.

We should not vote for Obama because he is demonstrating personal charm, civility, a focused message and a tasteful, understated sense of style. This clearly demonstrates he is not a fighter and does not deserve to be POTUS.

Can’t wait to see the EMPTY SUIT that Versace is designing for the dud. Wonder if someone can design some common sense and wisdom for the candidate? He needs that more than a suit.
MCCAIN IN NOVEMBER—70% to 28%

@ Mary:
I agree, maybe Versace should call her Obama line: “Empty Suit with No Substance”. This would only seem fitting for Obama. However, just in the past couple of days, it seems as if America is waking up finally and seeing the “real” Obama. He’s beginning to become “scary”, not in the sense that he is a formidable candidate, but the fact that somehow, in his logic, he feels that he is already POTUS. I mean, re-designing the Presidents seal? C’mon, this guy is going cuckoo!

John McCain has a comfortable lead over Barack Obama of 52% to 33% in Utah, according to the first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the state’s voters this year
McCain is viewed favorably by 58% and unfavorably by 39%. Obama’s ratings are less flattering, with 46% who view him favorably and 52% who view him unfavorably.

What I find really sad is these silly exchanges. Why do we have to resort to insulting each other and this senseless name calling really does no one any good. Unfortunately the country is in a terrible state right now and we should be looking seriously at ways to make it better. If you hate Obama, McCain or Barr vote for the candidtate of your choosing!!! You still have that right…

The man of the moment. what about the man of the next 4 year’s..Obama has become a novility. playboy will be calling him for a photo shoot. It is really strange how people see Obama and I think he thinks this is all a populairty contest and he’s eating the hound out of all the publicity he is getting. but i guess the people want a rock star in the white house..they usually last about 4 years anyway. then they are out. nobody listens to them anymore..

They just want to make money on him while he is famous.

How come before he ran for President nobody cared about him?

I went to Wally World the other day to buy a poster of a current pop star for my daughter. There in between Hannah and a group of oddly dressed black cartoon figures called “Homies” was a poster of the current pop star Barak Obama. I believe Obama is more concerned with his fame then in the good of this country, and I will GET OVER IT as he told me to do the other day by voting for McCain, who I would feel safer with as President. Oh, and Obama is the one who was on ABC News whining about being tired, poor thing.

Obama is probably the most un-Versace of them all. But, I think it’s a real compliment from Donnatella to be inspired by such a great man as Obama. I hope she can put some of the profits from the Spring/Summer line towards a great charity.

Melanie: Has it occurred to you that Obama may be seen around Hannah Montana because maybe he’s got two young daughters who are obsessed with the Jonas Brothers?
How is that any better or worse than your boy McCain saying that he never misses an episode of “The Hills”?
I would rather have Obama who has repeatedly proven that he is intelligent enough to utilize smart, progressive ideas like grass-roots, internet, and social networking rather than than McCain who has admitted that he does not know much about the economy or “the Google.”
