Vet, Vetter, Vetted
If nothing else — and surely there’s much else — the Jim Johnson episode illustrates just how completely bizarre it is that the vice presidential vetter for then-Gov. George W. Bush — Dick Cheney — picked himself in 2000.
No wonder at least one VP hopeful was so non-plused back then. Can you imagine?

Sen. DeMint: GOP Race Could Go Until Convention
Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
Based on today’s “witch hunt” standards with BOTH campaigns, Cheney could never have made the Vice President in today’s media market.
Maybe that is a good thing…

If there was ever any focus on media darling McCain it would show his vetters and team of advisers are much shadier insider lobbyist.

i love how people come forward to call out obama when he does anything they can construe as hypocritical but you fail always to mention the obvious in the other nominee yes mccain has ran his mouth about the same “interests” and yes has the same “interests” helping him find his VP…
but since when has this ever been about the truth or fairness? keep up the witch hunt..

I think all this finally does is actually lead to everyone saying
“well Obama has set this up because he has said he would be hel to a higher standard”
I have heard this a 1000 times in the past 24 hrs.
so does that mean people are going to not vote for the guy challenged by the higher standard he set on himself.
It just reminds people that McCain’s VP vetter is worse (a lobbyist for Exxon Mobil) …but he isn’t expected to live to such a high moral standard.
well guess what when people go into the voting booth… which guy do you think they’ll think higher of…the guy who has set up the higher standard challenge…or the guy we just accept as not achieving that challenge.
It’s like the candidate sitting among rats pointing to the opposing candidate who has said we need to get rid of the rats…
saying…”see, see he has a rat.”
this is stupid. change is hard but we want the candidate who has brought it out into the open.
not the one who says see see and then can’t take care of his own infestation even while he throws a couple off the ship.
that’s the difference the candidate who highlights the rats…and the candidate who has had to live with the rats so long he doesn’t know an infestation.
Poor John.

It was bizarre of Cheney to interview and acquire the most sensitive info on all the potential vps and then to prevail on Bush to pick him. That was an early sign that something was terribly, terribly wrong with the Bush administration. Plus, it showed the incredible sway that Cheney had over Bush. If you recall, Cheney who lived and worked in Texas had to then go to Wyoming and declare citizenship there since he had to be from another state. Two Texas oil men. Very Bizarre!

Umm… did Obama ‘bring this out’ himself, or was he caught again as he has been so often and ‘do the right thing’ only when caught once again?
His skill at tossing people under the bus has improved with lots of practice but I don’t think that reflects a higher moral authority. It reflects a sense of panic because he knows he can easily lose this election. He has been losing momentum since Super Tuesday. He is the nominee because of delegate jiggering in Michigan and purchasing superdelegates. That doesn’t translate to votes in the general election; so he can’t afford anymore scandals. Unfortunately, there likely are more to come.

Obama turned the light on over his head to see all this stuff by saying we need to get the lobbyists out.
Unfortunately with an innfested town like washington…everyone …yes everyone has some contamination to the infestation of lobbyists…
the fact that Obama has had such little signs of it…is amazing considering he needs to hire people who know what they are doing in the vetting.
The problem is now that that light over Obama’s head creeps over on occasion to show McCain standing there pointing and you see the infestations he’s trying to hide or look like he’s getting rid of…
but unfortunately for him (like his VP vetter who is much worse than this Johnson guy and his campaign chairs…ugh)
his campaign was built with the infestation throughout it… when you have two lobbyists running your campaign…it’s kind of hard to rid yourself of an infestation of lobbyists…
so Obama put the light on the subject…but everyone is focusing on the light focus over Obama and not the crevices and corners of Mccain’s campaign.
and McCain can’t really turn a light on because it will scare the crap out of everyone.
(by the way the guy that Johnson supposedly is a bad person for having a relationship with …the CEO of Countrywide, Angelo Mozilo…why don’t you all look who he contributed to from his millions that he got out of the mortgage meltdown and his subsequent parachute… guess who the creepy millionaire CEO is hoping will be President and gave money to…
I’ll give you a hint…it’s not Obama…so much for that relationship)

Every single person Obama booted off his staff was because they got CAUGHT.

Obama said he wants a new politics and the ‘old school’ just wont do.
He needs to be held accountable for it. He scored millions of votes off the slogan.
Mc Cain never used this line.
Obama is full of it. He keeps getting caught making promises he cant keep.
He no longer talks about uniting anyone.
Now he cant talk about a ‘new washington’ .
What does he got left?

seems to me he IS the one keeping those promises.
You would have to be pretty dumb to vote for someone because he said we need to get rid of lobbyists…and then say he should be held to that standard and the other candidate shouldn’t.
McCain’s vetter is a lobbyist for Exxon Mobil
his campaign heads are some of the biggest lobbyists in Washington.
Yeah Obama brought this on… I think it’s great hold him to the standard…just makes him look better…because you then in turn don’t hold McCain to the same standard…
who would be the better President?
Obviously the guy held to the higher standard.
Jim Johnson is a lot less troublesome than McCain’s people…A LOT less…and where is the outrage?
this is all stupid and just seals the deal on another reason for Obama to be President.

Unfounded emotional assertions will get you nowhere. But, they are useful to others as an indication of your lack of substance about important issues.
Posted by: A | June 12, 2008, 10:35 am 10:35 am
The term ‘empty suit’ was used in military circles to describe an officer who was promoted to the position but unprepared to lead in combat. An empty suit freezes in the face of fire, retreats and otherwise doesn’t understand the level of commitment, sacrifice and ferocity required to win.
In Obamalosi’s case, they are referring to his lack of preparation and experience, but also to the empty rhetoric he uses to cover his lack of depth on issues vital to national security and the economy.
