Bill Clinton Says He’s Ready to Campaign for Obama
ABC News’ Kate McCarthy and Nitya Venkataraman Report: Former President Bill Clinton says he’s ready to hit the campaign trail for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama "whenever he asks".
"I just told him that whenever he wanted to do it, I was ready," Clinton told a room full of reporters, following a news conference at his foundation’s Manhattan headquarters about new agreements that will lower the price of malaria medication. "It’s basically on their timetable. He’s got a lot of things to do between now and the convention of which this is simply one. So, I’ll do whatever I’m asked to do, whenever I can do it."
And speaking of the Democratic convention in Denver, Clinton says he’s given "no thought" to whether or not he’d like to headline as one of the speakers. The relationship between the Obama campaign and the presidential campaign of the former president’s wife New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has only recently begun to heal itself following a hotly-contested battle for the Democratic nomination that ended on June 7 when Sen. Clinton conceded the nomination to Obama.
Clinton also said he hasn’t spoken to Rev. Jesse Jackson since his "hot mic" incident but expressed sympathy for an off-air moment caught on tape and commended Jackson for his quick apology.
"If all of us lived on live mics then 100 percent of us in this room would be embarrassed from time to time. He’s a good man and he did what he could to make it right," Clinton said, adding "I think Senator Obama accepted his apology. I think it’s over."

Bill Clinton’s help will be welcome, I’m sure. Clinton and Obama have a lot in common in their desire to help average people get s semblance of control back from the corporate-Republican machine that has raped us all for the last eight years.

Bill is a good leader and try to fogive Obama’s action his in the primary. Obama should be ashamed of himself to call Bill as a racist and try to make fun of Clinton administration. Obama is trying to do anything to win this selection and throw anybody off the bus like his pastors and his friends Rezno, Auni.

Why do we have to wait until November when everyone, including McCain knows that Obama will be the next president. Send Bill to Georgia, NC and Missouri, key battle ground states.

Laura – Obama never called Bill a racist. Bill was overzealous in defending his wife. The problem with Bill was that he was acting like a husband and not like a politician. If he was acting like a politician things would be different.

It will take some time for some of Obama people to get over some of the things Bill said — but in time once he starts campaigning in earnest for him that will all change. Bill can bring this party back together again!

Bill should campaign more for Hillary and get her on the floor at the convention. There’s nothing wrong in losing, they should risk it, even when it’s a sure thing. With 18 million voters she has the right to run, Ted Kennedy went to the convention with more than 750 delegates short. For democracy, for the Dems – RUN!

Senator Obama never called Bubba a racist. It was clear, however, that Bubba DID try to minimize Senator Obama’s candidacy by painting him as just another “black candidate” like Jesse Jackson so many years ago. Hopefully, it is clear to everyone, except maybe the few remaining “Hillary Inevitability” wingnuts, that Senator Obama is much more than that.
Let’s remember, too, that Hillary’s poor campaign management was what really cost her the election. Bill’s campaigning as her husband, with all his defensiveness and attack dog mentality (which he unfortunately didn’t display when he was fooling round with Monica), didn’ help of course.
Y’all can blame Senator Obama for Hillary’s defeat all you want, but she has only herself (and Mark Penn) to blame.

I suspect any decent Democrat would have done what LBJ did — JFK, Carter, Bill Clinton — would have all done the same. But were there others like MLK at his level who could have accomplished what he did? I think the answer is no. MLK was unique. Without him I suspect civils rights reform would not have happened at that time and would have been set back years if not decades.

Bill: Please stay clean and do not get your hands dirty with this mess.
BHO (Bone Headed Obama) is a WIMP, chameleon, hypocrite and WOLF in Sheeps’ skin. Here are some of BHO’s (Bone Headed Obama) lies, misjudgments, boneheaded decisions and contradictions.
• BHO has AUDACITY TO HOPE that Americans will not look at the character of the person to be president and he will be able to mislead them with his smoke and mirror tactics and speeches.
• He claims to have good JUDGEMENT, but contradicts himself by keeping relationships with anti-Americans, terror-mongers and racists for 20+ years
• BHO claims to be the MESSIAH of HOPE, but says ‘people cling to religion and cling to guns’ out of frustration. Is BHO equating Americans to ‘terrorists’ where the terrorists usually claim that they ‘cling’ to religion and guns out of frustration and economic woos?
• BHO claims to be a UNITER, but always tried to divide America on RACE and ECONOMIC INEQUALITIES
• BHO was not mad about Wright’s anti-American, racist rants until a few days back. But what made him mad is that his lack of credibility was exposed by Mr. Wright when he said “Politicians say what they say and do what they do based on electability, based on sound bites, based on polls,”
• BHO Says he is PRO-LIFE, but also said that he would not PUNISH his daughters with babies.
• BHO talk about leveling fields as a non-politician. BHO entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it. BHO back stabbed his friend and mentor Alice Palmer by nullifying Palmer’s nominating petitions, forcing her to withdraw.
• He is TOUGH enough to throw his grand mother under the bus, but he neither has GUTS to repudiate his anti-American, racist pastor nor has GUTS to vote NO to stop Adult Porn Shops from opening up next to our children’s schools.
• BHO wants us to BELIEVES in CHANGE, but the kind of CHANGE he is really talking about is to go down to his knees to negotiate unconditionally to Iran’s Ahmadinejad, Hamas and other terrorist groups.
• BHO claims to be ‘TRUE’, but he is full of lies like He never opposed hand guns, He never heard Mr. Wright making the incendiary quotes, He never said – he will not wear flag lapel pin, He is against NAFTA but had his adviser meet privately with the Canadian government to assure them he didn’t really mean what he said about NAFTA and the list goes on and on
• BHO took 20 years to finally accept that his pastor is an anti-American. BHO is an opportunistic liar.
• BHO Claims to be a PATRIOT, but refuses to wear flag lapel pin and his wife Michelle says: For the first time in her adult life she is proud of this country and America is a mean country
• BHO claims to be the better Commander-in-Chief, but how can he get that position if he can not even obtain the Top Security Clearance?
• BHO says WORDs MATTER, but is always short of words and steals them from others and constantly demands the people whom he insults to give him the benefit of the doubt for his misspeaks.
• He says he is Washington Outsider, but admitted in the debate that his campaign played negative tactics against Clinton in PA. BHO has more Washington Insiders endorsing him thus OWEs to them something that will MAKE HIM BIGGEST WASHINGTON INSIDER.

They hate Hillary, Bill and now Michelle. OK but why do they not spend even 5 minutes in a month thinking and talking about how a learning disabled, alcoholic, that most likely was a cocaine party boy through and after college became President of the United States? Why aren’t they “hating” on their talk shows and in their blogs and online comments the inarticulate, silver-spooned elitist that grew up with yachts on the coast of Maine? That brush clearing, simpleton that has managed to become president and then get us into a war that has maimed and killed thousands of people, ruined lives, has failed to develop a strategic energy plan for this country, lied, approved torture in our name, eroded civil liberties, and on all accounts has just about failed on every deliverable possible. If these people that “hate” Hillary, Bill and now Michelle would even spend 5 minutes being honest about what a miserable failure this President and administration has been.. we could have an intelligent discussion about the “grayness” of politics and who is the lesser of evils in this campaign…But if Hillary, Bill and Michelle are their demons and not George Bush why bother to even talk to these people?

At a time when one would think racial divisions should be gone, they seem stronger than ever. Quite sad. Based on what I’ve taught my kids, I cringe every time the news is on and it’s about votes, opinions, etc., you name it, based on one’s race. I hear more about race than about proposed policies. My daughter and her best friend who is black (we are white) are like two peas in a pod. She can’t understand what the big deal is. The media is tacitly reinforcing stereotypes. We need to be done with this by now, but I fear it will be “Obama won/lost (depending on which fringe you’re on) because he is black.” Racism will win either way—the media will make sure it plays that way—when it should be about the candidates.

For all those Obama supporters who think he is different from the rest you really need to read the article that was in the New Yorker about him. You know, that Liberal mag that is read by Dems everywhere. The one everyone is talking about now.
http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/21/080721fa_fact_lizza?printable=true
And, if you still don’t think he’ll do anything to win this presidency then you didn’t read the article and you probably don’t think badmouthing the grandmouther who helped raise you is a character flaw either. The man has shown he will turn on anyone, including the voters if it will get him what he wants! (see redistricting part in article, he cut out the blacks!) People should vote for the person with good character and good qualifications and not just the party line. Obama has NEITHER Good character or qualifications for being President. Bill is just showing that the Clintons are more of a uniting force than Obama; the great divider.

You Obama supporters or Clinton supporters need to figure out if you are supporters of our economy, of our education, of our country. We’ve got a lot of things to turn around and being bitter and petty about the primary season is not a way to do it.

Come on Bill do you really believe anyone out there cares what you say or believes a word coming out of your mouth? Why don’t you tell everyone the truth, that you are supporting McCain. If he wins, Hillary runs in 2012.

All of McWar’s supporters who have INCORRECTLY stated, that Obama and his campaign played the race card against Bill. In fact, Hillary apologized for Bill’s behavior (playing race) right before the state of union address. Further, Bill falsely claimed he had prof (memo from Obama’s campaign) that Obama plan use the card against Hillary’s campaign. However, there never was a memo from Obama’s campaign. If there ever was such a memo, we would have heard about at nauseum. McWar’s supporters are just like their candidate, they have lost their bearing. P.S. Get your facts correct before you post another comment.

carolyn, we’re actually on the same page. Yes, it is absurd for anyone to base their choice on race (that was my point), but that’s exactly what both extremes of the racist fringe will do.

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand the difference between being “on the mike “or not “being on the mike”. Are we saying we talk differetly about the “n’ word or making slurs about someone? So if the Reverend wasn’t being “mike” would he have said the same words? I guess it’s like the forest, if no one is there to hear a tree fall then there is no noise.

DEDICATION
I dedicate this book entitled “BILL A RI AND THERE WAS LIGHT!” to the FORMER PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON, to his wife HILLARY and their daughter CHELSEA. Leadership is the trade-mark of both the President and his whole family at the dawn of the twenty-first century.
The immediate goal of this book is to make the leaders and peoples of the West aware of their grave responsibilities in connection with Haiti’s current tragic situation. For this reason, it recalls the dominant relationship the West has had with the Black World.

The creepy Clintons are staying in the news cycle or having their surrogates at the New Yorker turn up the heat. They will make a grab for the nomination at the convention.

I’m sick of reading all these divisive comments, obviously posted by neocons posing as Hillary worshippers.

Bill will be better now that he has less personal interest in the outcome. I really hope he has had time to flush out the anti Obama thought process in his mind.
Obama is a smart man and will take advantage of Bill’s offer to help. Unlike Bush, who would melt down anyone’s campaign, Bill can be a cool and helpful addition.

For you Clinton critics the facts of life are that under the Clinton administration our country was in some of the best economic condition it has been in my lifetime, and arguably in its own existence. Starting off the millennium with our country out of debt should have made these past eight years the best years this country has ever seen, rather than some of the worst. Bill Clinton is not perfect, and has done shameful things, but those people who demonize Bill while deifying GW are complete and utter hypocritical morons. The blatant lies and outright deception that got us in Iraq could fill a novel, and that’s just a start of things that have happened this decade to send our country into ruin. Bill might have been unfaithful, but he’s remained married to Hillary. Look at McCain’s biography. He dumped his first wife for his rich, younger, more attractive second wife. There’s no denying McCain has courage and grit, I admire his military service to our country and patriotism, but he undeniably lacks the intellectual capacity to be president. So basically with McCain, you get the moral qualities people criticize about Bill Clinton coupled with a mediocre intellect reminiscent of our current Chief, and this is what some of you are willing to vote for!…You’ve got to be kidding me! I wish we had better options for a president but we don’t. There’s no doubt our country needs a change and as it sits we either have McCain or Obama to pick to run things for the next 4 years. I was gunning for Hillary, because let’s face it (other issues aside), the Clintons know how to run a country, but that will not be an option this go around. Our country needs a true change of direction and a commander in chief with the intellectual capacity to fill the shoes, and of our two current options, one stands out head and shoulders above the other. I only hope to God that we can get back on track.

I am saddened at the utter emotion without reason being dished online by many on this blog especialy the likes of rogersm234. People of his type are noise makers and confusionists. You do not do the intelligent americans justice because when europeans like us blog this is what we read and it must be said you shuld never be handed the reigns of power in any capacity. You make no mention of policy nor anything constructive for that matter. How does a clear reasoning person reconcile not supporting a candidate on the central dogmatic tenet that we voted for Hillary 18 million strong. Obamas ideologies are no different from Hillary, infact their positions at best are nuanced. They are for gay rights, pro-choice, ending the iraq war, universal health care, comprehensive immigration reform, just to name a few and yet you stubbornly embrace chaos as your mode of dialogue. I wonder if you are just an unprincipled someone who does not vote issues but goes by a gut feeling just like Bush spoke of Putin in their first meeting. May be deep down you are a covert racist who cannot distinguish policy positions from colour and because you are scared you will get found out if you spoke your mind, you choose to be erratic. Notice your use of words are all fluff: “assasins”, “Hillary Democrats”, “Racist”, “stabbed” etc. Now herein lies the problem, when people of reason probe for the substance in such flashy words, they are nothing but ornaments and you come across as either very ignorant ot malicious. For the sake of the United States which has so often led the world, there is anurgent need for a new president any of the two gents, obama or McCain will sure be better than Bush. But needless to say America needs not ambassadors of the likes of rogers234. An absolute disgrace he is. God bless your nation for all those who can exchange intelectualism on this blog. AMERICA THE WORLD IS WATCHING. Cheers!

The Clintons did not bring us the prosperity of th 1990s. Craig Barret and Bill Gates and the thousands working in the Internet revolution brought that to you. Do the Clintons look like technical people who could accomplish any of that?
Further Bill and Sandy (“steal the paper work”) Berger covered up that they could have stopped a lot of the disaster associated with 9/11. OK, the neocons bear some responsibility, too.
The creepy Clinton crowd are unwilling to see the Clintons for what they are. Like their friend Jesse Jack, a lot of what they are was exposed this year. These are the people who rought us NAFTA and the other trade deals.

Bill, glad to see you still make news. The prosperity of the ’90′s was in fact felt by lower income American’s and we credit the Clintons for it. They promoted and pushed for programs that benefitted us in education and at home. Raising taxes on higher income earners and national budgets that contributed to after school programs (keeping kids in school while parents work), college loans and aide, midnight basketball to keep kids out of gangs, the Family Leave Act; are just some of the things we remember. Don’t listen to the Clinton hating robots, the people who put you in for 8 years are still here Bill and we LOVE HILLARY, Chelsea and you!

Bush the first brought us NAFTA, Clinton was under political pressure to sign it into effect as soon as he started his first term. But, NAFTA isn’t all bad, it needs to be tweeked in order for Americans to not lose in the process of making a better world economy, which in turn affects us and everyone else in a postive way. Furthermore, Clinton left numerous loads of information warning Bush Jr. that there was a threat. Bush, who lets others do his reading for him, never bothered with the info Clinton left for him regarding the possible attack which occurred 9/11. In regards to Bill Gates, he was once a monopolizing, greedy rich jerk who has changed for the better thanks to the influence of his current wife and kids. By the way, the internet boom crashed as soon as it started, except for Bill Gates and the rest of that ilk.

Bill Clinton was the worse president and CIC. His indecisiveness and lack of care for the security for this country and the military resulted in the 9-11 attack and the inability of the army and the marines to support a two front war. Remember the BRACS and the huge and expedited downsizing of our military without regards to the future security of this nation during his 8 years in office. Remember, golf was more important to him than the security of this country. We could have killed Osama Bin Laden but he ignored an urgent and important phone call twice while playing golf when our snipers were within eyesight of him… Remember, his two carrier presence policy in 1998 when Saddam Kick the UN inspectors out of Iraq. It did not have any effect on Saddam, rather he was laughing at our asses. He ended being a pain in our asses for 5 more years. It could have been 50 years or longer. I am so glad we invaded Iraq to eliminate a threat from there. Saddam’s sons were worse than him so if Saddam died in power, his sons would have taken over. Iraq would have remained our enemy for another 50 years. The Iraqis would remain suffering from the evils of Saddam. I am so happy we are now allied with the Iraqi. I am proud of what we have accomplished in the military. I am so glad to see the Iraqis live the life of freedom.

Actually, I recall golf being more important to Bush than the security of his country, than the victims of Katrina and even more so, than going to the hospital for Jena’s emergency appendectomy. He was not on vacation yet, but left since he already had plans and Laura gave up the vacation to be by her side. Yeah defend Bush with lies, the whole world knows the truth about your “hero”.

The creepy Clintons state that NAFTA was one of the crowning achievements of their presidency. They also setup trade deals to their buddies in the east. Those deals could have been worded so that the standard of living had to be matched at both ends of the pipe. The deals they made were pure and simple sell outs of the US.

We will never forget the people who voted for the Clintons when the primary was already lost. Many of us do not want them in the Democratic. I know you are going to say that you are needed. Not true. Look at realpolitics polling. Glad to see you go.

Obama does not have the experience for the position. I would not hire a High Schooler to manage a multibillion dollar company. Nor should we hire a Community Organizer to run this country. Bill Gates would not hire me to replace him at Microsoft. I do not have the qualifications to have that job. It is all relative.

This Race is going to tear the Democratic Party apart. McCain could win this in a landslide. Too many disenfranchised Clinton Supporters and Reagan Democrats.

Having Bill Clinton stump for Obama is like letting the fox in the henhouse. Hillary wants another jab at the WH. Bill can cause difficulties for Obama. I actually welcome that. I am voting for McCain even though I am a Democrat. Obama is not the answer.

Whoever this “Registered Democrat” is needs to read the newspaper or check out other posts. They’ll soon realize that their “facts” couldn’t be further from the truth.
Obama is ahead in many of the state polls and the three recent natinal polls. His lead will soon widen “Registered Democrat” so don’t worry.
These Operation Chaos/PUMA are such a hoot when they go around in desperate attempts to distort facts…Awww so sad!!

If I were President Bill Clinton, I would tell Obama to go take a campaign hike and rely on his own smarts and his own money to win the Presidency. After all, this upstart, arrogant Presidential wannabe declared President Clinton a racist, deemed him a crook, devalued his two-term legacy of prosperity and peace, and disdained and demeaned his wife in order to rip off the Democratic nomination. ‘Give me a break — this whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen.’

FullDisclosure at Jul 17, 2008 5:12:57 PM: Clyburn was never anything but a Obama-man. Due to his position in the house he stayed neutral (officially) but CNN wrote long before he came out that in fact he eyed and supported Obama before Kennedy even… at the time Obama was not even in the Senate.

Jennifer: I read two Newspapers everyday. After he won the delegates needed rather fishy I might add. I supported him reluctantly. Then when he changed his stance on IRAQ and FISA. That made me pause and rethink my position. Now I have decided this guy cannot be trusted and that is an even bigger issue to me than the obvious experience he does not have. So my Vote for MCCain is more of an Anti-Obama vote than anything else. And yes I have seen the polls. Anywhere from 3-8% lead. Very close. According to Olberman he has a 20% lead already. Give me a break while my legs go a tingly. No I am not part of operation chaos or puma. I am an informed adult Registered Democrat voter who has a clue.

Obama’s “bounce” of four points over McCain, proves that the Clintons are necessary in this race. Four points ahead of the Republicans is too close and too scary. For them, an easy steal, as usual. Unless we have the two factions of DEMS unite. It just has to be.
