Clinton Supporter Angered By ‘Other Women’ Obama VP Talk
ABC News’ Jennifer Parker reports: A longtime friend of Sen. Hillary Clinton said it’s "incomprehensible" that Sen. Barack Obama would choose another woman to be his vice-presidential candidate over Sen. Hillary Clinton. "The selection of either one of those instead of Sen. Clinton I would find completely incomprehensible," said Lanny Davis of rumored Obama vice-presidential contenders Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill. Davis is a former special counsel to President Bill Clinton and a longtime friend of Sen. Hillary Clinton’s dating back to their time at Yale Law School. "If anyone thinks that picking a woman will simply placate Hillary Clinton’s female supporters, I think that’s very patronizing to women and i don’t think that that either Gov. Sebelius or Sen. McCaskill would disagree," said Davis, who penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal Thursday titled "Why Obama Should Pick Hillary." Davis said he hasn’t met either Sebelius or McCaskill and said he admires them, but Clinton is more qualified. "She helps him more and she’s more qualified," Davis said of Clinton, "Therefore, why would he pick two females, both who are very admirable public servants, why would you pick them over her?" Davis, a longtime friend of Clinton, said he isn’t speaking for Clinton and doesn’t know if she truly wants to be vice-president. Though Davis said she recently called him when he was ill. Davis said he hasn’t given up on the "dream" of an Obama-Clinton ticket, though he said he has abandoned his early effort after Obama won the primary to get Clinton supporters to sign a petition urging Obama to pick Clinton as his running-mate. However other Clinton supporters seem less confident in an Obama-Clinton ticket. Two former Clinton campaign staffers who started the website VoteBoth.com to urge Obama to choose Clinton as his running-mate is shutting down under the assumption she’s not on his short-list of vice-presidential candidates. Obama’s vice-presidential shortlist is being closely help by the campaign. "We’re not commenting about the nominee selection process," Obama spokesperson Bill Burton told ABC News.com. Obama spent hours this week meeting with the co-chairs of his vice presidential committee search team Eric Holder and Caroline Kennedy. Likely Democratic vice-presidential contenders include Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, Indiana Sen. Even Bayh, Sen. Joe Biden, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and Sebelius, a two-term governor of a red state, and McCaskill, a first-time senator from a battleground state who is close to Obama. McCaskill campaigned with Obama in Missouri Wednesday, but she has said she’s not being vetted and sources close to her describe her role as a close personal advisor rather than a possible veep candidate. Meanwhile, Sebelius sidestepped questions Wednesday about whether she is being considered. Obama may try to solidify his support among women voters thought key in November by picking a woman as his running-mate. Clinton, who lost her bid to be the Democratic Party’s first woman presidential candidate, won 52 percent of Democratic women voters during the primaries. However Obama is leading McCain 54-39 percent in support from likely women voters, according to the latest ABC News poll. But Davis argued Obama’s poll numbers increase with Clinton as his running-mate, citing two June polls from Wall Street Journal/NBC and Fox/Opinion Dynamics.
"Even they wouldn’t contend, I believe, that they would be more helpful to Sen. Obama on the ticket than Hillary Clinton," Davis said of Sebelius and McCaskill. ABC News’ Matt Jaffe contributed to this report.

What gives Caroline Kennedy any credibility to be a co chair to vet VP candidates? Her claim to fame is based upon her parents legacy none of which she or her late brother ever really lived up to. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend would have been a better choice at least she has served in office of Lieutenant Governor for MD.
Obama is an ego maniac. He will not choose Hillary for that reason. Choosing any other woman is actually “tokenism”.
Obama’s campaign is consistently plagued with drama of the negative sort and just plain nonsense. Expect more of the same if he wins.
Posted by: Samantha | July 31, 2008, 10:04 am 10:04 am
Obama won’t pick Hillary Clinton, because that would definitely get in the way of his huge ego.
Hillary and Bill Clinton would absolutely overshadow Obama, and Obama knows it; obviously Obama would look more unqualified, unexperienced than ever.
The arrogance of Obama will not permit him to chose the best VP; only one that makes him look good; that’s what the guy’s about–himself.

Lanny Davis is an insulting embarrassment, so I don’t know why you would quote him and suggest he has any credibility. Also, if a woman candidate were to be chosen I don’t think it would be to “placate” Clinton’s female supporters. That kind of statement is pretty insulting in itself. Where does Davis get that idea?

Jennifer Parks and Lanny Davis have tons of nerve.
During the campaigning, their view seemed to be, “we want a woman stand up for us.” So now, you’re telling us that you lied. It wasn’t about breaking barriers. It was about your buddy Hillary, getting the nomination. Why don’t you just speak plainly instead of handing the public this nobler than thou attitude.
“I haven’t met either one, but Hillary is more qualified.” How do you base that line of BS?
I’m not convinced that Obama believes this crap you’re spewing. I’m sure he’s selecting some one who can better the cause, not your personal agenda. . . . .

You pick a VP to: Win a State or Region and/or Provide a Positive, without any * negatives and/or Back you up in an Area of Weakness such as Forign Policy, Fiscal, or Experience.
The key is that negative area. Absolutely no major negatives allowed. The exception is a current VP that is on the Ticket for Re-Election with a current President.

Boy oh boy! You people are something else! If, as self-professed democrats, you vote for McCain (or stay home on election day), you and everyone else in this country will pay a very dear price for your anger. As for me, I vote the straight democratic ticket. There are too many vitally important issues at stake and it is very true that McCain will be a third Bush term. Look at the shape the country is in, folks. To say we’re in terrible trouble all across the board is not overstating things. McCain will not be able to get us out of the deep pit we’re in, economically, militarily, ecologically, and any other “ly” you can think of. His campaign is a mess and he inspires zero confidence that he can run this country.

The comments by NielPA, Samantha, Tamrya, and Krist appear to have been written by the same angry, bitter, and delusional faux-feminist (In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if all the comments were written by Lanny Davis).
I will say, however, that were our positions reversed… had Mrs. Clinton won the nomination, I would feel similarly. I could never bring myself to vote for John McCain, but equally there is absolutely no way I would vote for Mrs. Clinton.
There’s enough going on in my life, however, that I have no time to accumulate such reservoirs of bile to spew forth at every opportunity. By this time I would simply have shrugged my shoulders and decided not to vote in the presidential contest.

Did everyone see Barack Obama rally the support of Europe to help America in our fight terrorism? Is there any other person, of either party who could get Europe to come out in a pro-America, U.S. waving rally like the one we saw in Berlin.
While John McCain was riding around in a golf cart offering his small minded sniping attacks on Obama, Barack Obama was avoiding any direct criticism of his rival or the Republican administration. He only talked about America and our relationship with Europe.
When I think of John McCain, I think of his opposition to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. This woman discovered incontrovertible proof near the time of her retirement that she had been systematically discriminated against by her male superiors. She proved it in court, only to have it overturned by a right wing dominated Supreme Court.
How could they, or John McCain, demand that Lilly Ledbetter file in court within a 180 days of being hired, when she didn‘t know and could not have known the facts that prove she was discriminated against?

After the crap the Obama camp and the DNC threw at the Clinton’s, Hillary should definitely not accept the VP slot if offered, that would really ruin her chances in 2012. Obama is a loser, with a puffed up ego problem, and the American people are just beginning to catch on; no substance, just alot of fluff and puff.

Let the woman of this great country pull it together and vote for McCain now so that we can have Hillary in 2012. Lanny Davis and Geraldine Ferraro long ago showed their true colors and intent to put their personal preferences of candidate over Americans’ interests (both love being on Fox News now). Who cares what either of them think. They don’t care about the real issues – healthcare, economy, ending the war, housing and gas crises – they just want Hillary as the nominee and if they can’t get their own way, will support McCain. Some Democrats, huh. I wonder how Ferraro would have felt if the tables had been turned on her when she was on the Mondale ticket. So much for loyalty to the bigger issues. Shame on both of them – don’t waste your time even mentioning them. they are useless.

Hillary Clinton is indeed a very competent, capable, intelligent, strong, tough-minded, formidable person. She will probably get a spot in the Obama Cabinet. But, she should have left Bill when he embarrassed the living daylights out of himself and his family, however. She hung on for political purposes. I liked Bill Clinton and his presidency and this country prospered for 8 years, I believe. However, he brings too much “baggage” to the political arena. Even today he is a charismatic speaker and person, their daughter turned out to be a lovely, intelligent woman, and all to their credit. But, Bill himself brings too much baggage to the Vice Presidency of his wife, and therefore, she won’t be selected. Also, the Republicans hated Bill Clinton so much, they would turn out in droves, even more than they will turn out against Obama, just to vote against Hillary, if she had been selected as the Presidential nominee or V.P.nominee. The DNC realized this and that is why she didn’t get the nomination.

That Lanny Davis and whoever assume that picking Sebelius would be done only to “placate women” just shows what a sexist Lanny himself is.
Sebelius has way more elective experience than Hillary, her latest post being a governor, in her second term. She also lacks Hillary’s baggage (i.e. Bill) and is on friendlier terms with Obama than is Hillary, which may make it easier to govern. That’s in contrsat with Hillary as VP, which Zbig Brezinski said Hillary’s VP office would be a “government in exile and a government in waiting, which would make for a bad atmosphere”.
Hillary has no executive government experience (except for her failed health care fiasco), and her largest non-government exec experience was running her campaign, which had numerous shakeups, ended up over 20 million dollars in the red, and failed despite being an “inevitable” winner.
I would be pleased with either Hillary or Sebelius as VP, but I’m sick to death of Hillary die-hards trashing other qualified women.

Please, enough with the RNC talking points already. Most, if not all, of them are BS – but you knew that. Black female? If you say so, Karl.
You right-wingers are so fond of hyping “Bush Derangement Syndrome” (BDS), but you’re a clear example of ODS or NARDS (Not-A-Republican DS). Of course, that assumes, perhaps mistakenly, that you actually believe the crap you’ve written. But even Karl Rove knows that most of his talking points are BS; he just doesn’t care.

Keep in mind people that, no matter how qualified she is, Hillary comes with baggage. His name is Bill Clinton, former President. Not only would Obama have Hillary gunning for his chair at every oppertunity, he would have the former President second guessing him and playing Monday morning quarter back. The man is not stupid enough to make an already hard job virtually impossible. Hillary for attny general or better yet Senator. Since the current Liberal Lion (Senator Ted Kennedy)is ailing at this time. Teddy has managed to build himself a very good career in the senate and has probably done more for people in that poistion than some Presidentnts have done.

You raise an interesting question, Jenny. Who would Obama appoint to what? While I’m sure someone will start throwing out Wright and Rezko (as though the other side couldn’t make Hagy and Keating jokes), I wonder what an Obama cabinet might look like.
Attorney General will be a big pick, after what’s happened recently in the Justice Department. I think Obama needs a truly apolitical person – maybe a Republican, maybe a Democrat, but someone with a reputation for not being a hack. Bill Bradley? Oohhh, here’s a name from the past. How about bringing back Louis Freeh?

Department of State – I think Sam Nunn.
Department of Defense – Tony Zinni, maybe Webb, maybe Reed.

Department of Energy – how about T. Boone? That would be interesting. But more than likely Obama will go with a party person here. I just hope its a good one, because this department will most likely have a higher profile.

How’d that John Edwards, baby mama drama, Beverly Hills Hotel thing work out? I see Hannity rolled that out last Friday, just to invoke a cliff hanger…then…NOTHING!!! He ran with a NATIONAL story, base on the National Enquirer!!! Come on folks. Hillary would be a great “political” call for VP. McCaskill, MY SENATOR, is doing great things for Obama, Sebelius…from MY NEIGHBORING STATE, is great too. But, i don’t see either of them as VP. And, foolish for lanny Davis to think he can “thug” Hillary’s way into VP.

You know I hear alot of you beating on others about what their opinion is about both candidates and how much one has dirty laundry or skeletons in the closet or has extra luggage or the other is this and that or WHATEVER, BUT, everyone has their own opinion about each candidate and you don’t have to call people names over the opinions because you disagree with them. Personally I don’t like either candidates but you don’t hear them calling each other names because they don’t agree on something do you (well what goes on behind closed doors is their own business but). So TRY TO ACT like an adult and human (if you know what those are) about comments, lord knows some of you sound like and act like frigging 10 year olds or something.

I will hold my breath to vote for Obama if he chooses Hillary Clinton to be his running mate otherwise I will vote for the war hero, McCain. Obama requests Hillary to campaign the next two months for him in three state Nevada, Florida and Ohio and she agrees to do for him without complaining or asking any favor. Look at how he treats her and I’m very disappointed in his judgment and his ego. I admire her a lot because her kindness and forgive Obama’s supporters during the primary saying she is liar, bit*, racist and ect..

And to belittle the qualifications of other women in comparison to his beloved is just… well, I’m done wasting space talking about Lanny Davis’s opinion.

I wish that Obama and his minions would just disappear. I say to all women lets defeat Mr.I cannot win an election I must steal them. McCain is a much better choice. I do not want my girl anywhere near that ugly loser. I hope he is defeated so bad that he must quit and move to an deserted island. Anyway we should make him produce his real birth certificate bet he isn’t even American. He couldn’t pull off the Primaries. This is what happens when we allow children to vote. I say make the voting age 21 again. Kids are not mature enough to vote. I also hope Moms and dads stop paying for their lazy children to attend college. I told my kids if they wished to continue to live off of my dime that they had a choice vote for McCain or stay at home. They will not vote for the freud and live off of my dime.

The all blacks should think a like mentality is slavery. I am proud of black history, and that history has afforded me the right to freedom of choice. I choose not to vote for Obama. My aunt is not either. My brother is not. There are blacks who do not agree that Obama is the right choice. Get over it.
Me post graduate black woman. Beautiful successful and not enslaved to blacks. I owe my success to God and my own hard work. Where were the bruthas when I was I was in grad school writhing my thesis? Who went on the job interviews? I did. Who went to Ivy league schools with me? I did?
The hope is in me. Now I make figures that my GED mother is in awe of. This black woman self made.
Guy like Obamas make their lunch off emptyminds. He speaks only to blacks as if every black is in the economic sewer or pregnant with 6 kids. His policies are borrowed and empty. I am not voting for the guy because he is not qualified and I find his philosophies, policies, you name it to be unquestionable. I don’t like the company he keeps, and he has be a empty suit senator, who never delivered on his promises to Illinois.
If I voted for the guy, his being black would be the only reason. Sorry not enough. Sorry to disappoint fellow blacks, this sister is going for McCain and you can tell me that 10 plantation slaves are rolling in their graves for all I care.
I became truly free when I stopped caring about appeasing blacks. That is a losing situation.

We all know in our hearts that only Hillary can save the world. If Hillary isn’t made V.P. then the world will probably explode, and all of its people will be forever cursed. If Obama were a decent human being (which we all know he is not) he would withdraw his name from the race. Further more, once Hillary becomes VP, people of the World should unite to elect her as Supreme Leader of the World. Then thousands and thousands of statues should be made of her to symbolize her perfection. Obama should be forever condemned for we all know he has a big ego — we knew it the day he was born. Although he hasn’t actually shown us his huge ego yet, we all know someday he will. When this slip up occurs, McCain will win and all Democrats will wish they nominated Hillary. (BTW: Hillary has a very tiny ego, because as we all know she is GD perfect.)

James, are you speaking about Hillary or your golden cow Obama– who is made in God’s image?
Posted by: Samantha | July 31, 2008, 11:58 am 11:58 am
James
I have to say that if I were a Hillary supporter and Obama picked someone less qualified than Hillary I would be pissed too…
because that isn’t the decision of a President…that is the decision of somebody who is choosing on issues outside of qualifications.
that means either he is playing politics (which is not “change”)
or he is picking the candidate that he wants for some self known reasons…
Claire McAskill and Sebelius are less qualified than Hillary Clinton
they are so please don’t argue about that … whether you like Hillary or not.
but having said that …that does not mean that Hillary is the most qualified out of the group …
because she isn’t and Hillary supporters can’t say that looking at the list that exists now…that Hillary is more qualified…than say a Biden or a Dodd.
just like I said with Hillary…whether you like them or not…
the VP does not have to inspire as much as needs to have judgment and balance.
Posted by: dl | July 31, 2008, 11:58 am 11:58 am
The creepy Clintons have always been anti-women. Look what they did to the poor women who Bill abused. I will be glad when the whole creepy Clinton caravan has moved on. Including the terrible sycophants especially Lanny Davis and Wolf Blitzer.
The idea that these women are more qualified than Hillary does not even enter into their small minds. Sebelius is a two term governor who has held executive experience roles and is from an old political family.

As for Hillary. If he chooses her, I think it weakens his ticket. She is everything he stands against. Its a shame her surrogates are still crying when Obama won fair and square. Bye bye, Hillary. I hope the koolaid taste’s good because the koolaid is all you are going to get from the empty suit. The tasty Obamaberry koolaid will be poisoned and Obama will throw his koolaid drinkers under the bus to get elected. He’s already doing it.
Or maybe the ObamaBerry koolaid drinkers will get tired of trashing their integrity and self respect by trying to cover up for the koolaid vendor called Obama. Even that tasty koolaid will get nasty by November.

To say you know nothing about Obama just tells me you have not be really paying attention to him, you come on this site and give your options based on empty thoughts and options.
Obama just in the past 2 years has been center stage from the beginning of these races. He has proven over and over again he has good judgement and he listens well, that his views are not always the right ones, and he will tell you so. He will, and has, surrounded himself with some of the most respected people in politics, people he can and will get great political advise from on how to solve our issue.
Obama is only human, he has and will make mistakes. No one person in this world has not and will not. So please stop making Obama out to be more than he is.
He will be a great leader, He does have great policies. Some of the issues such as Pro-life, you may or may not agree on but you should look at the whole picture here and not pick out of it 2 things out of a million and only vote because of them. Make a pro and con list on Obama and McCain. I listed everything, then I did my homework. I looked at past voting, Yes, McCain has more years by far but he has never supported us (only if you are a CEO of a large corp.) or our troops. Please just please do your homework. Stop listening to the crazies and figure it out for yourself.

Obama is not my candidate and what I find funny is that this nation if they elect OBAMA, remember CHANGE is only a word. He has not proven even as a Senator that his actions are not leadership nor Presidential. It takes alot more than promising change. Look what happened when the Democrat’s got control again, I still haven’t seen progress to change yet. Rememeber your vote should count, votr and if you can write your candidate in.

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Bill Cosby, relative to his comments on black life in America?
As far as Obama’s “… policies are borrowed and empty.” — there must be something there, because McCain and Bush seem to be adopting them (i.e., Obama’s policies) at the rate of 1-2 per week. Of course, IOKIYAR.
Posted by: SFAW | July 31, 2008, 12:09 pm 12:09 pm
Nerdity
you should reward judgement and qualifications.
whether that be Clinton or someone else.
someone could argue her 20 mil debt did not show good judgement but in a heated primary it would be hard to show that that misstep outweighs her experience and judgements of the past few years.
Hillary’s qualifications are great…but ids she the most qualified to be VP and take over if something happened to Barack…
If something happened to a President obama would the long primary hurt Hillary’s ability to lead…maybe…
does she have the longest and best list of knowledge and actions regarding the issues that face us…
yes she inspired people…and lead on a few things…
but her campaign was partly about her inspiration to the people who voted for her… that is slightly hobbled with the rest of the country because of her long extended primary fight…
the VP is not what it used to be …a VP needs to not only be able to fill in but assist the President…and balance his knowledge and judgement base…
on those issues…HIllary is up there but not the best choice.
Obama needs to pick a long history knowledge base…he already is “the change” now he needs trust and familiarity and a long history of involvement…to be standing next to him for his judgement to be effective and accepted.

Erin…it is simple really. If the facts about Obama (and there are many ugly facts about Obama) start getting broadcasted by the media—–he will certainly lose. As long as most of the media refuses to actually do real stories—Obama stands a good chance of winning well except that there is the internet and people do seem to be catching on anyways…..and that “bitter” Americans seem to be quieter about where they will not be voting.
Posted by: chattyway | July 31, 2008, 12:12 pm 12:12 pm
Well Becky, we can start with the Wall Street Journals story of the “Obama recession”
We can talk about the UN TAX bill he is pushing thru, 845 BILLION to the UN, costing Americans an xtra 2,000 a year. None of that noney goes to US poor.
ets talk about him wanting to redistribute the wealtk of this country….
Posted by: Jed | July 31, 2008, 12:12 pm 12:12 pm
and to all the level headed normal people ignore the double digit people who aren’t basing there judgements on qualifications on either side of this stupid PUMA group.
Hillary would be a good VP…would she be the best no…would she be better than McAskill or Sebelius… definitively.
better than Biden, Bayh or Dodd…no.
the problem is there are not enough women in the second tier to compete against the amount of men there.

And this creepy Clinton camp followers support the Clintons who sold them out in trade deals and deals worth $109 million to Arab countries.
The Clintons dishonesty alone disqualifies them for any job in government. Sandy Berger stole the paper from the national archive that incriminated them on 9/11.

do you all realize how many people need to vote for the President…and unfortunately even if Hillary WAS more qualified then say a Bayh or a Biden…
she has always had the problem of a low ceiling nationally
not a dem primary but nationally…with independents and republicans…it is even lower now after that long drawn out primary…
You all have to look at the numbers…
Obama shouldn’t pick someone less qualified than Hillary….but there are people who are arguably more qualified…and if all of it were even equal…
Hillary has really bad numbers from independents and republicans still…
or I shoudlsay…high floor… but a ceiling that by the best estimates is now below or close to 45%
that’s not good for a running mate.
even if 18 million people voted for her…
and she’s not the most qualified…
a better choice than McAskill or Sebelius…definitely…but not better than some of the others…

I’m not voting unless HILLARY CLINTON is on the 2008 ticket.
Obama believes he can win without her. He is greatly mistaken.
He may have won the hearts of 200,000 Germans but there are 18 million Democratic voters who do not like him & many will refuse to wait in long lines on election day to support his presidency.
Obama’s concession speech will, of course, be “historic” and “shocking.” The media will mourn by replaying it for weeks after he loses.
Caroline Kennedy is disconnected from the voters. They have no clue & fail to see the bus which is about to flatten this entire PR stunt.

I, as another educated black woman, appreciate your stance. As for BruhMan and his stupid comments, he is a typical Obama suppporter (no substance) and keep that in mind. Most Obama supporters want to attack even when they know Obama has no credence…..Obama supporters are usually brainwashed by Obama’s empty rhetoric and lies. As CNN reported again last night, its as if Obama has a “hidden agenda” and this “empty suit” persona is becoming more evident everyday!
I live in Chicago and believe me, Obama did NOTHING for Chicago…he has always been about himself! I, as well as my family, REFUSE to vote for Obama. And for all you Obama supporters, the info about Rezko and Obama are true…Obama has ties to the underworld that will become more evident as this election continues. BLACK WOMEN AGAINST OBAMA!!!!

Obama claims to be from a a disenfranchised family. My single mother raised me w/o a father on welfare. I paid for my college and graduate education and never received a DIME of scholarship money from affirmative action initiatives. To this day my father deals scams and drugs. My mother died sometime ago and that was my heroine. My father is truly lost yet runs around with this Obama airbrush painted tee shirt on while he sells drugs. believe me if Obama wins dad will be the same hopeless bum he was before.
I am one of my dad’s 6 illegitimate kids. I am the only one that went to college, the only one who is not on welfare. I live on one side of town they on the other. Many times I have attempted to help them and give them HOPE. Tried to get them to enroll in school.
When I hear Obama speak of his so called disenfranchised environment it turns my stomach. He and I attended the same schools as well as many other ivy blacks who know him and are not voting for him. He is a PHONEY. No substance then. Even less now.
I had to keep hope alive way before Obama came along.

It may not be the VEEP nominee that is the problem in this race. A year ago, was very impressed with Obama. Thought that he stood above the fray; he did articulate a ‘positive’ change in debates; and yes .. he was a new face. But this year .. 2008 .. we have seen a serious question in his judgment with Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko, Jim Johnson and Rev Wright. More recently, with his seal, airplane, and travels, what seems to have emerged is an egotisticaly loquacious novice!

Choosing Hillary Clinton would be very, very foolish of Obama. She or her husband would undermine everything he tried to do and wouldn’t take any responsibility. There’s a very good reason he beat her in the primaries. He’s the better candidate.

you need to take a look at history…the numbers of people after people like Bill Clinton Reagan carter Bush jr…in the party who said they would not vote for the party candidate after their candidate lost “defections” as you were…are similar to what has happened this year…
and it wasn’t until after the convention did those numbers start to change…
so get some fact…
If obama picked a VP choice that was pro-life, anti gay rights, said they wouldn’t allow gov’t subsidies of stem cell research (Like Kaine for instance)
then he would have a problem…but other than that… he probably isn’t going to lose.

Obama advocates change, but in the selection of his vice president it appears ,at least from press articles, that he is playing old politics. He will likely pick someone who backed his campaign from the beginning oppossed to picking someone who will likely compliment his presidency. Its the same old song but with a different beat. However,We can hope that he surprises us.

one think I’ve noticed about these new to politics Obamabots, they are so quick to say that you are not a true democrat if you do not support this empty suit, what they feel to realize is that he does not have the support of the true democratic base, those democrats like myself who has voted a straigth democratic ticket for 22 years, I bet you if all of the Obama fans, identify themselves and how long they have been A. A Democrat and B. Voting, it would show that they are either new voters or new to the democratic party or simply independents. How dare you tell me I am not a true democrat because I simply refuse to vote for a candidate that I feel will not serve in the best interest of this country and my family, simple. I could care less about anything else. I probably cannot bring myself to vote for McCain, so for the first time since I’ve been 18 years old I will not vote period.

Excellent post!!! Except you should have mentioned some of those ugly facts about Obama. Since you didn’t, I’ll try to help you out:
1) Obama is a gay, crypto-fascist, commie Muslim, educated in a Saudi madrassa by Osama bin Laden, to whom he is still loyal.
2) Obama was the go-between for Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda, when Saddam ordered the 9/11 attacks.
3) Obama (and his aides) are known to have sabotaged the levees in New Orleans, just prior to Hurricane Katrina.
4) Vince Foster was killed by Obama, not Bill Clinton.
5) Obama helped sabotage the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, resulting in its collapse. [Fortunately, no life was lost.]
6) It has been established that Obama was the last person to be seen with Judge Crater, and he was threatening the Judge with a gun.
I am grateful that you are here to help spread the Word about Barack Adolf Sidney Hussein Goldstein Dzhugashvili Obama! The country needs more people like you!
But which country?

Tina I think it is a travesty in this country that a woman has not been on a ticket more than once…
but the problem is that we should pick on judgement and qualities outside that…
I understand women wanting to vote for a woman because “we need a woman”
the problem is there are not enough qualified women to have a good , deep selection to choose the person who would lead this country…
because THERE aren’t enough women in congress…and running state governments…and in positions of power.
that is the problem…was HIllary the best person for the presidency …I don’t think so… do we have other women who could…I don’t know yet…but so far the selection is so slim bredth wise…that I don’t see the resources that are coming out of the men in these positions being topped by any of them…
you know if it is 10 to 1 in the second tier men to women…
Until we get more women in places on that second tier… what are the chances the best candidate for the number 1 and number 2 jobs are going to be a woman.
not so good…it could be but I don’t see that person yet…besides maybe Hillary…but Biden and Dodd and even yes Richardson are better qualified.

It’s pathetic, I hope this is the new strategy under Davis. it’s bearing such fruits, mcCain is only trailing by four points today…key is…he’s still trailing in EVERY poll in existence. There are plenty of qualified women and men. Even plenty with executive and business experience. Sebelius has deep political and executive experience – which by the way Hillary did and does not have. Maria Cantwell is another name that quickly comes to mind. There may not be enough insider creeps, but Democrats should not want them anyway.

It’s not that if you don’t vote for Obama that you aren’t a democrat…
it’s if you vote against the policies that democrats support you are nto a democrat…
I will say if McCain picked a liberal as his VP and Obama picked a conservative (or someone who was anti gay rights, pro-life, anti-science…or at minimum put their religion in front of science and fact…again like this Kaine dude)
I would think of voting for Mccain because I would fear that I didn’t know Obama like i thought I did…and maybe McCain was still a maverick.
but right now…I don’t think that…I don’t think that will happen..but if it did I would vote with the policies…and in that scenario policies went out the window.

If the Clinton camp is “offended” that another woman might be chosen as VP, maybe they need to stop and think about the message they are sending, do they really think that Clinton is the only “woman” able to handle the role of VP, that we dont have any other women who are qualified. Sounds like the same brute force tactics they used in the primary that worked so well.

as someone who was not a HIllary supporter how in the world could you say Sebelius is more qualified than Clinton…
we need to all talk on a level that is factual…running a state government with no foreign policy and no international issues is a far cry from being the Commander in chief…
she may have a state mandatory budget experience…and management experience but as far as knowledge of the issues…Hillary is way beyond her qualifications…
and I do not want Hillary as VP either (I wouldn’t be upset but…) Sebelius would be a horrible choice.
If we were not in the state we are in the world…I may think differently but not with the state of affairs we have.

Yeah, I noticed!!! The most repeated line by Hannity is “We have former Clinton strategist, blah blah blah to give us the details…so, tell us blah blah blah, why is Obama blah blah blah…”
Mr/Ms/Mrs Blah Blah Blah: “Obama’s having problems connecting with (insert demographic of appeal for today group here), but Hillary can help him with that.”
At first it was Hispanics…until the 62-33 hispanics for Obama poll debunked that. I guess next will be the albino, left handed, parapelegic voters won’t support Obama.

Because I have admired Hillary since her days on the Wal-Mart board, I hope Obama does not pick her as VP. If Obama wins in November, he will most likely be a dismal failure and one-term president (while many of his ideas sound good, once he becomes president, the reality of his tax=and-spend plans will hit the public like a sledgehammer) – that will make it easier for Hillary to get the nomination in 2012.
Posted by: Mellie Me | July 31, 2008, 12:51 pm 12:51 pm
dl,
I agree, he has to choose someone with a legacy in foreign affairs. To be honest, nine days didn’t boost his foreign policy experience. It did, however, lay the foundation for the future. IT PROVED THE WORLD IS READY FOR OBAMA. I compared McCains trip with this one. Every press conference mcCain gave…folks were dilly dallying in the background, no one was paying attention to what he was saying, and you could hear crickets chirping away in the distance. But, we all saw what happens when Obama gathers a crowd!!!
Posted by: BruhMan | July 31, 2008, 12:54 pm 12:54 pm
dl: Hillary Clinton as much as you would like to think to the contrary, has no executive experience. The one bit of executive experience that we have seen her handle, her campaign, was not well run.
Now you may think that sending private detectives to intimidate women with no connection to power is executive experience. That would be a core value we should attempt to remove from the Democratic party. No one wants that, least of all women.
Posted by: disambiguates | July 31, 2008, 12:57 pm 12:57 pm
disambig,
I think dl was talking about a purely political strategy. Hillary does bring a “certain” segment to the table. however, as time goes, that segment is steadily realizing the choice between Obama (whom thier candidate is closely aligned politically), and McCain (trollup, no to ever female issue within the last 20 years, not even a smidget resembles their candidates views). Most of the holdovers will find every excuse imaginable not to vote for Obama…Hillary as VP or not!!!

I wouldn’t be suprised if Obama selects another woman instead of Clinton to have women vs women, the same way his campaign has pitted whites vs blacks, Civil Rights era blacks vs young blacks, older generation vs youner generation, upper class vs lower class and Democrats vs Democrats. Truely Obama is the candidate of UNITY. YES HE IS!

Bruhman – the difference is the mainstream media has elected Obama already for his newsworthyness and they are the ones creating the buzz that then seeps down to the masses. McCain, in comparison, can hardly get one mainstream channel to cover him, like when he arrived in Wisconsion to while Obama was in Germany–one solitary reporter bothered to show up! You don’t think that weak coverage isn’t gonna make a difference? Don’t let the media coverage bias you. Of course, Obama’s historical candidacy is goign to generate buzz, but what is he really saying? Very little in comparison to McCain’s.

We don’t need a celebrity, such as Obama is trying to be. We need a leader who puts her/his energy into the job of leadership, not in trying to look pretty while posturing and pretending to lead.

Bruhman – well said. The Hispanic poll did debunk the idea that Hispanics were nearly unanimous in their flight from Obama. Even the poll for likely women voters (54-39) doesn’t seem too threatening.
Yes, many are ready for Obama and his message. Yes, there are many who like Clinton, and that’s fine, but she didn’t win the primary. There are those who are disappointed she didn’t, and that’s fine too, but if that’s reason to project blame onto Obama and his supporters and vote McCain, then at least know what you are voting for in McCain – (ie, no health care reform, little environmental care, likely additional and protracted wars…)

If one is talking of the sick Clinton political philosophy of triangulation, that is also a sickness of pandering to the worst elements of society in order to gain power. The reason McCain wanted to run against Hillary is that there is this long list of bad deeds that they could swift boat out in a general campaign.
Get Real’s point that the message the creepy Clinton camp is putting out “that Clinton is the only “woman” able to handle the role of VP” job is just offensive – to everyone.

But, in order to gain his party’s nomination…he morphed into Bush. We’ve all seen this paly before, we know the story, we’re living the end of it. The media is partly to blame for McCain’s image…truth is, it’s unravelling and we’re learning more and more about him (breaking under torture, but supports it…graduated 894th out of 899 at the Naval Academy…was against MLK Day, but is “NOW” sorry…Keating 5…flip-flops at will, etc.)

ambiguates remember some of our best Presidents were Senators and not governors…Lincolnand Kennedy…
and I think it was FDR that said he ran for Governor for the resume not the experience…after he had been a senator.
Senate experience is better than gubernatorial even though people try to say the execustive thing makes a “stronger leader”… the wonk on policy is what counts…
Clinton and Reagan were charming but also wonks on national policy.
Sibelius (unfortunately cause I like her) is not the best governor…and although well versed…she would be trampled in a debate from a Mitt Romney, or a Ridge or even a Pawlenty i think.
Executive experience may be the popular road people take to set them up for a run at the white house…but as far as grasp of the issues I would far trust Hillary to go up against Ridge and Dodd and she would crush Pawlenty in the debate.
But Biden would actually crush all of them.

Samantha, in your post above you mention that you cannot be like Jesse Jackson standing behind someone you have misgivings about. I respect that dearly. However, Mr. Jackson’s real misgivings about Barack are more about his commitment to black men and the black Family. He is angry because Barack had the ‘audacity’ to tell black men, the same ones you now chastise to be more present in their families and like you to NOT ask for handouts. See contrary to popular civil rights Leaders (used loosely these days) Barack isn’t running for the President of black people, last I knew this was the United States of America a country of ALL people. Been there, failed at that. But gender aside, I have met Hillary Clinton personally and she’s kind, brilliant, smart, considerate and fair. She was the only choice for president for me. If Barack Obama pulls a stunt and selects another female as his VP candidate, there will be a hellstorm on his campaign from me and others like me who have frankly HAD IT. McCain should drop out now. The only thing that can save him is Romney, which is pretty damn sad.

Why would anyone even care about these polls that change day to day. You guys excite too easily. Why not look at the electoral map and see what you think, very interesting.

obama would be a fool to pick hilliary. she not to be trusted as far as I’m concerned. she wants to be president so bad I wouldn’t put anything past her. Obama pick any other woman but her cause if you do you will regret it!
Posted by: terry's wifey | July 31, 2008, 1:22 pm 1:22 pm
I see so many pro-Hillary posts. I wonder how many of them have contributed to her campaign to retire her unnecessary debt. If all of her 18 million supporters gave even $2.00 each, both she and they could stop pestering the Obama campaign to help them. If she wasn’t so vindictive, vicious, and backstabbing then perhaps she would have EARNED a VP position with welcome arms. If she were picked, then the tables would be turned and he would lose as many supporters who are against her as her supporters are against him. I say he picks the best candidate to compliment him and everyone else can vote for whichever candidate suits them and their interests. I see hatred and bigotry is alive and well despite all of the economic tramas we’re facing…
Posted by: PHodge | July 31, 2008, 1:22 pm 1:22 pm
Disambiguates’ point is accurate. To say that if it’s any woman, it should be Hillary for VP, somehow separates women into a distinct, lesser category, as though they are only running against each other. In fact, they are in the same pool with men. If Obama were really thinking, he’d know Hill’s the best choice over a woman or a man, period. But ego will make people do not-so-smart things… I can see phenomenal change happening with her smarts, energy and experience thrown into the mix.

I will ask you the same as I asked another – Okay, but has it occured to you that there may be OTHER qualified women out there, that just might work well with Obama, even if they don’t have the experience of Hillary?
Why so catty? Why take it out on another woman?

I do have to say I agree with Lanny’s sentiments on thisbut he is still a sniveling puts.
Out of the whole primatry I am only disgusted by two people when it is all said and done…and if I got the chance to tell them it would be the ethically challenged lawyer and lackey…Lanny the “sniveling rat” David…and that whack job lying…Blonde…that to this day winny……KIKI
ugh…
I think Hillary would have done better if it were not for those two.
oy
talk about ethically challenged… they gave Hillary a bad name…
even though he is right on this issue…Hillary is more qualified than either of these two women.

Shawn: ‘Why are so many of you scared of the idea of electing a President who is not only popular in this country… but is respected by people around the world. 200,000 Germans showed up to hear the man speak! ‘
Shawn, I would think it was obvious! Most of the world doesn’t share our view of govt. for the people by the people and so on. Rather, in places like Garmany, it is far more socialistic with govt. mandating laws that fly in the face of our Constitutional rights. Do we really care or want these people to help persuade us how vote?! Take it a step further, just to make the point–would you wonder why we wouldn’t automatically love a candidate who was embraced by an Anti-Ameican Arab regime? Of course not.
I suggest you read more on how places like Germany run their country and then compare it to our Constitution–you will find marked differences.

you are absolutely right! . . don’t forget Hillary Clinton won the majority of votes. Guess Obama and Bush, Jr. just don’t believe in counting the majority. It is a sad a election primary–Obama is weak without substance and experience, his character reeks of arrognance, and McCain’s camp seems they’re in a slump. Obama and McCain are soooooooooooo boring . . and the funny part of it–Obama actually thinks he’s all that. They guy can’t break 50%–he acts as if he is leading McCain by double digits–what a joke.

I find it hilarious that Lanny Davis is such a blithering idiot. So… there are over 100 million women in this country and Lanny thinks Hillary is the ONLY ONE Obama is allowed to think is qualified to be his VP? But there are countless qualified men right? It’s o.k. to say there are lots of men who would make a good VP but NO WOMEN if they’re not Hillary.
And these are the brain dead morons who complained about OTHER people beings sexist during the campaign? It boggles the mind. According to Lanny Davis apparently if you aren’t Hillary Clinton then you must have testicles to be a VP pick. The guy is a clown.

OK, here we go again with the “majority” vote crap!!! In my opinion, Clinton and Obama should have gotten ZERO delegates out of Michigan and Florida. That’s right, hillary won exactly 55% of ZERO delegates in Florida. She got 59% of ZERO delegates from Michigan…THAT’S HOW IT SHOULD HAVE GONE DOWN…if you really think about it.
Posted by: BruhMan | July 31, 2008, 1:31 pm 1:31 pm
I think Lanny Davis is showing a huge level of arrogance to assume that only Hillary Clinton as a woman is good enough to be VP. I think if that attitude prevails then actually Hillary clinton hasn’t broken any glass ceilings for women.
That being said I do think that Hillary would be an interesting choice as VP for a couple of reasons. One is that it throws down the gauntlet top the sol called PUMAs to put up or shut up. Are they more for Hillary or against Obama? The other reason is that it will put the Republican ticket firmly in the shadow whoever McCain picks.
But the truth still comes back to the idea that Hillary will reinvigorate the Republican base. As such she is best avioded. I think any other woman risks alienating a significant part of the Democratic base, so in the end Obama will probably end up picking a man.

Correction: 49.8% of ZERO from Florida…55.2% of ZERO from Michigan. That’s how it should have been. They both got a favor our of the compromise. that’s the point of a compromise, you get a bit, you lose a bit!!!

The argument for Hillary being brilliant does not wash. Look at how she ran her campaign. No one would accuse her of being an inspiring speaker either. Sebelius on the other hand is inspiring and not connected with the dirty tricks of the last two decades.
Angela Merkle the Chancellor of Germany has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Leipzig. Now, she is smart and inspring. We have plenty of Merkles her in the US – female and male. The financial boom of the 1990s was due to the Internet and PC revolution. We need some one who is smart not slick to manage the next one.

If all you guys can come up with is taking shots at semantics then you must be tired. Obama will lose in November. Then where will all the black people turn to for hope??? Maybe somewhere in America there is a pregnant pseudo free spirit, anti establishment and militant white woman carrying the seed of a black man and he will grow up and go to Ivy League schools and you all will have hope in the black race again. How pathetic.

What is with the obsession with petty, personality based politics? What happened to issues, policies, and vision? All this petulant, nasty anti-Obama or Clinton talk really depresses me about the state of the mind of the American voter. I am not sure, but I don’t think there is one comment here on what policy differences the various VP possibilities would bring to the Demo ticket. We know the mainstream media, such as ABC, is vapid and lazy and focuses on petty personality attacks formulated by Karl Rove. But can the posters here elevate themselves above that please?

dl,
There are many individuals who are qualified to be VP. It is my impression of Hillary after listening to her speeches and getting a sense of her character that she is best not only to be VP, but more importantly, to be president. This is not a comment on her potential competitors, but on the woman herself.

Samantha,
Scowered dictionary.com until you found something that gave a definition for “unexperienced”. WOW, it “is” an un-word. a word often used, but really is not a “word.” Say it enough, make up a meaning, and years later, it becomes a word. Face it, you made an error. What “arrogance”, can’t even admit a mistake!!!

All you Clinton haters, remember that Hilary got 18 Million votes and we will never desert her. Fine, don’t choose Hilary to run for VP
because when Obama loose you will blame that on her also. Go on Obama and pick your White Boy for VP because that is ALL I see in your suroundings. ARE YOU AFRAID TO SHOW BLACK FACES? As to John

More Women Choosing McCain Over Obama
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 5:06 PM
If soccer moms determined the outcome of the 1996 presidential race and security moms tipped the balance in 2004, it is beginning to look as if older moms are the key to the 2008 contest.
Obama has a problem among women over 40 and a big problem among women over 50. These groups, normally the staunchest of Democratic supporters, are showing a propensity to back McCain

I am a strong Hillary supporter and will not vote Obama no matter who he picks for VP. I “hope” he does not pick Hillary because she would be blamed for his loss. Obama has no chance of winning except if he picked Hillary and then she would never get the credit for his win and would be blamed for every silly decision he made as President. The best case now is for McCain to win 2008 and Hillary 2012. My bet is Condi Rice will be McCain’s VP which will help split both the black vote and the women’s vote.
Those who voted Bush and now regret it need to think back to why you voted Bush. Most people in 2000 voted Bush because they thought he would be more “fun” to have a beer with. Clearly Gore was far more experienced. Now we have the same choice, either Obama the fun guy with less experience than even Bush or McCain with many years experience and the person responsible for us now winning in Iraq. Obama voted for us to leave Iraq with our tail between our legs……and he will raise taxes for every “household” earning over $200,000. per year as well as capital gains tax on everyone.
For Obama to continue to play the race card and then add a token woman for VP should make everyone sick including blacks who know all about “token” jobs. Certainly for either of the other 2 women to accept the VP slot will end their careers in politics because Obama will lose anyway and either of the 2 women would be forever known as the token VP on the ticket.
VOTE McCAIN 2008

Day 2…WOW, he actually won Iowa? Let’s wait and see what South Carolina says…then we’ll have a “feel” of this candidate. is he for “real” or just another Jesse Jackson wanna be…you know Al Sharpton-esque.
Day 3…He raised how much? No way, shattered the record for a monthly primary draw? What “arrogance”. After all, we barely know him, and blacks love him…maybe he’ll eat fried chicken and watermellon on the “white” house lawn.
Day 4…Oh my Lord. He’s leading every poll!!! Sean Hannity, call Hal Turner, and see if he’ll hang a noose somewhere.

After all, 90% of Phd’s are awarded to African American females. After all, WE don’t know him. After all, he went to that “church”…is it a church or a mosque…WE don’t know?!?!? Is his certificate of live birth real??? Was his education “affirmative action???” Nevermind the fact that John McCain is the “real” unknown. Nevermind the fact John McCain cost American taxpayers $100M (that’s Million with an M) worth of Navy aircraft. But, I guess you KNEW that!?!?!

Is he for or against Social Security privatization? is he for or against torture? Is he for or against NAFTA, CAFTA, and the rest of the FTA’s? Is he for or against off-shore oil drilling? Those people have abandoned the basic principals of the Democratic Party – all to support Obama? Shameful and not in the best interest of America.

BruhMan….so you support Obama I take it. Great – what is his plan regarding how to deal with his numerous flip-flops? It does lend alot of people to feel that his words cannot be trusted. Also, I know you think Berlin loved Obama but I am not sure if it wasn’t the free food, beer and rock concert that they appreciated more. Frankly, even main street media panned his performance there. Sorry – but they did. He is arrogant and gets alot of stuff wrong….how many Presidents do you think are on our bills? According to Obama there are quite a few.

This whole campaign by Senator Obama has not been about what is best for our country but how to get an inexperienced socialist, Marxist, communist elected so he can change our country from a true democracy.
Certainly hope voters wake up before it is too late.

Plan to deal with flip-flops??? since when did that become worthy of a presidential “policy” Come on, I debate issues, or I can sling BS al day with you idiots!!! OK, and yes there was a concert before Obama’s speech. But, beer and a braut hardly draws 200,000. Go ahead, get John McCain to announce he’s bringing Crosby, Steals, and Nash to any stadium in America…giving away free Budweiser(oops, they’re not american owned anymore) and see how many people show up!!! I DARE YOU, MAKE THAT CHALLENGE TO HIM!!! You see, he was left in America all alone for nine days to give his good ole “Conservative” vision for America’s future…and he came up with NOTHING!!! Just, “Obama left me…and took the press…and wha wha wha”…cry me a river!!!

He wont pick her it would hurt his pride and he is too scary. I am sickened, and even though Hillary really deserved her consideration he didnt give it to her. He can do what he wants, but its too bad for the country that we can’t an intellectual woman like Hillary as vp. All this crap about the primarys and what Hillary said, if Hillary hadnt brought it up McCaiin would really be having a feild day with the stuff McCain is throwing at Obama Hillary only gave Obama some love taps. Obama doesn’t want whats best for this country he wants whats best for Obama. He probably wont even give her a cabinet positon and yet Hillary will still speak graciously at the convention. Obama is one big disappointment.

Okay, get ready for this:
Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and John McCain himself are moving and looking more and more like muppet caricatures of themselves; anyone else notice this? Watch their movements–it’s weird, like body-snatchers or something.
Remember the “F#$ing thing sucks!” Bill–he looked human at least. Where has he gone? He resembles Sam the Eagle now. And Coulter looks like the guitarist chick from the muppets, Hannity’s hands do the swedish-chef thing all the time, and McCain… C’mon, the Grouch from Sesame Street. Jim Henson isn`t dead, he`s running the Republican party. Call the conspiracy theorists!

Presidental credentials – hummmm….lets see:
Nomination comment: Obama – I will end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home.
General campaign comment: Obama – I will end the war in Iraq and send the troops to Afghanistan.
Nomination comment: I will absolutely take campaign financing.
Nomination comment: I will not under any circumstances support or vote for FISA.
Well….seems that the flip-flop does say quite a bit about the candidate who cannot be trusted on his words. Seems to Americans that not being trusted on ones words says that if you are already flipping on an issue that I agreed with you on – guess it doesn’t matter what you say now. So I guess that IS THE ISSUE. People in America are waking up! The most recent polls show that!

AMW,
WOW, that belongs on Sesame Street. You take issue with Obama wanting to fight the war we shoul be fighting, as opposed to McCain cheerleading for the war that never should have been??? Don’t believe it should have never been…well read the “Conservative” RAND review, with former Bush aides saying…you guessed it…”we should be fighting in Afghanistan, not Iraq”. And, don’t go there on campaign finance. You know it as, the McCain-feingold act. WE all know it as, the legislation violated by McCain, and pending court case. McCain took public finance, took a loan against it, and has no choice but to accept public finance. Do some homework!!!
Posted by: BruhMan | July 31, 2008, 3:51 pm 3:51 pm
BruhMan….perhaps you need an education is what discussion is all about. Obama is a politican and says whatever he thinks will get him a vote to win. He has no intention of doing anything that he says – to get the vote. He is not honorable on his word. I am talking about character – or lack of – when it comes to Senator Obama.
Yes, campaign financing and FISA are only a couple of things that Senator Obama has gone back on his campaign promises. Nothing new for this guy. This is the same person who has poor judgment to not go see OUR injured troops and showed previous poor judgment when it comes to the friends that he has chosen over the years. Course, he also shows no loyalty and will throw anyone under the bus if he thinks it will get him a vote.
Bad character and bad judgments…the making of Senator Obama.

But, if you want a Presidential “policy” for flip-flops…McCain will never get the chance to deliver it!!! And, yes the polls are tightening…but, McCain has never lead a single poll in existence!!! Wait, yes he did the USA Today/Gallup poll. I guess if you narrow the field from 2674 to 791, McCain actually leads at some point!!!
FOLLOW THE NARRATIVE…MINIONS!!!

Lemme see, what platform that Bush ran on did he deliver??? Oh, that’s right, Social Security has been solved. Oh, that’s right, there was a medicare fix. Oh, that’s right, we didn’t “build” a nation. Nevermind, he can pass it down to McCain!!!
Posted by: BruhMan | July 31, 2008, 3:59 pm 3:59 pm
It is irrelevant what McCain does or does not do. Obama is the one who claims he is ‘different’ and not ‘old politics’…..he set the bar and now he can’t stand up to it. It is Obamas character and lack of loyalty.
Perhaps if Obama had held just one meeting with the committee that he was supposedly in charge of in the Senate, Obama would have had some knowledge to make his comments on. That committee is in charge of our policies with NATO and Afghanistan. He was talking to just get votes……without knowledge! Now he got caught!

You know folks, I have to be honest, I started out with Hillary, but she has a very nasty mouth and is a filthy liar and hypocrite of the highest degree! BUT, all that said, I would still agree that her and Senator Obama would be a good team and I could even look past the points that she played the race card against him, the feminist card, and the GD assassination card also! She is a low life snake (at best). But she would never be trusted by Michele (who probably wants to scratch her eyes out) and she would bring Bill Clinton into the White House and that would never fly! Clinton defiled himself and is an off handle womanizer. Even one of his ‘best bud’ black women Oprah doesn’t even talk to him anymore like they used to because his true colors came out while he was campaigning for his wife. Their true colors people, your true colors. Bill said Senator Obama’s campaign was some kind of ‘fairy tale’. The only fairy tale going on now is how they thought they could keep running up campaign debt when the numbers told Hillary she couldn’t possibly win (unless she used fuzzy math). So there you are! Now you can go report that back to your PUMA crowd of jealous babies. And what does that stand for again…oh yeah People Using Mindless Allegations!

He knew about the troops because it was already in the works under Bush. How naiive are you? Obama knows nothing and plays follow the leader very well. Afghanistan was always in the plan for the surge. Look that up and it looks like it is time for you to do some homework.
Obama made nomination campaign claims of bringing the troops home which if he had any knowledge at all, he would have know was not going to happen. The American public can be snookered once but it won’t happen twice.
BTW…Obama said a couple days ago that if her were President right now he would put in 2 brigades right now into Afghanistan. He is playing catch up with the current administration. LOL!

Neither of which came from Rev. Wright. You see, what he did was 100% American. He challenged his government to pause, before it ramped up it’s “war machine.” But, all you heard was GD America!!! It would not surprise me at all if Obama selects Governor Kaine as his VP running mate. Kaine is Barack’s good buddy and like Obama, has a thin resume in public service. As a life-long Democrat, I am just astounded with what is happening with my Party! Obama could assure a victory in November if he would choose Senator Clinton as his running mate. But alas, it’s like Obama says: ‘I want somebody who I am compatible with, who I can work with, who certainly compliments ME.’ Afterall, this election is all about him — and to hell with the 18 million American voters (majority which are loyal Democrats) who supported Senator Clinton! That’s why he will lose the Presidency without Hillary on the ticket. Perceptions, true or not, are REAL: He doesn’t care what others think — he only cares about himself and what he wants!

I hope Hillary stays far away from Obama. He is going to lose to McCain, and she does not need to go down with his failing ship. He will only try to use her for the states she won, and for her supporters. Hillary will be his scapegoat, and he will take all of the credit for everything.
We see what has happened since Hillary hasn’t been around to absorb all the hateful media. Obama is flippity flopping and lying all over the place. Now that he has had center stage, we can see that he is a magalomaniac who uses race as a political tool.
We are not going to put up with all this BS anymore.
Hillary stay AWAY from Obama. We do not want him.

Well, after reading some of the posts, and seeing how Obama is liked as well as disliked a great deal, I have come up with a soothing thought.
If Obama picks Hillary, I think all the libs should just chill.
HE will do like a good little follower and let her do all the leading…She will direct him into the corner of one of the lesser offices, as they did with Al Gore, and together BILL AND HILL will be The Co-Presidents, as they were in the 90′s.
THERE!..now I hope you all feeeeeel better about voting for the dem ticket.

Twenty five years of faithful volunteerism, donations and full support of the DEM party, only to be insulted and kicked in the teeth. So, I am so pissed right now that I, feeling betrayed as a woman, Hillary supporter and now former Democrat; I will go against this degredation of women, Hillary supporters and the postive economic Clinton legacy and I will vote McCain! I feel completely betrayed by the DEMS! I know I am not the only one…..Obama has never been firm on any stance, as he was only firm in promoting HIMSELF. Sorry, but I need a lot more than self promotion as evidence of your trashing Hillary and Hillary supporters for your reason to be Prez. Now you claim McCain is talking you down in order to win, that’s because you recognize your own strategy BO! I hate the Republicans, but I hate betrayel from the DEMS and BO far more! McCain ’08!

Hillary isn’t getting VP. Of the other names getting mentioned, Sebelius would particularly be a disaster: 1. she won’t bring Kansas – Obama’s already down 20 points; 2. she will upset Catholics, since she’s an extremist on abortion to the point that her bishop asked her to stop receiving Communion; 3. she’ll upset Hillary supporters, since they’ll feel Hillary should be on the ticket; 4. she doesn’t bring experience on international issues; 5. sad to say, many would not vote for a ticket with African-American and a female. Kaine, Biden and Bayh are all solid choices.

This is, indeed, the year of the woman. Obama won’t pick Hillary; her supporters won’t let him pick any other woman.
This leaves the door open for McCain. He will wait until after Obama picks a white male, then announce Carly or Condoleezza (who’s star has been rising again, fast, with the dramatic success of the surge).
Posted by: apetra | July 31, 2008, 6:40 pm 6:40 pm
The sure way for Obama to blow this election is to pick another woman. Hillary got more votes than he did and for him to put another woman on the ticket will drive millions of her voters to stay home or vote for McCain or Nader.
I hope this happens.

The fact of the pimp Lanny Davis writing this op-ed is itself evidence of Camp Clinton pressuring its way onto the ticket. He did not do this without the knowledge of the Clinton Campaign. He writes his drivel and the Clintonistas descend en masse to hack away at the legitimacy of Senator Obama’s candidacy. Read the posts here and ask yourself- who you would choose were you Obama, the legitimate candidate who legitimately won.

Rebuttal, I’m not sure if this poll is all that sufficient since, we don’t know who obama’s vice presidental choice is. Secondly, I think once Senator Clinton, is once, and for all, out of the picture then, and only then, will we see who these working women lining up behind a worthly, presidental candidate of preference.

Let’s see if I get this straight. With 21 years in elected office as opposed to Hillary Clinton’s 8, Sebelius is supposed to be less experienced and qualified. While Clinton was “dodging sniper fire” in the 90′s, Sebelius was actually holding statewide office and running something well, but that apparently makes her less qualified. In the 2000′s, Sebelius got elected governor of a red state twice, consistently took pro-choice stands in that pro-life state, stood up for the environment against coal plants, eliminated the budget deficit, and generally took progressive positions in a political environment where that’s not always easy to do. Meanwhile, Clinton sought election in deep blue New York rather than her home red state, voted for the war in Iraq when that was expedient, only to oppose it when that became more expedient, and came up with the greatest pander of the primary season by backing the Republicans’ idea for a gas tax “holiday” that only further encourages dependence on foreign oil and production of greenhouse gases. But don’t forget, she is clearly more qualified than Sebelius. Clinton’s qualifications to run an organization, let alone a country, are especially evident when you consider that she began the nomination campaign with prohibitive advantages in support, endorsements, connections, organization, money, and public profile, and still managed to run a losing campaign that squandered all of the above, was best known for its behind-the-scenes infighting, and somehow ended up $20 mil + in the hole.
Now, in service of Hillary Clinton’s obviously greater qualifications than everyone else, the Democratic Party is supposed to avoid nominating anyone as VP who might actually compete with her for the presidential nomination in eight years’ time. Heaven forbid that the Clinton team be thwarted again by anyone in 2016, least of all… a woman?! Perish the thought that anyone but Sen. Clinton shatter the glass ceiling. After all, it’s not like Kathleen Sebelius is qualified for the Executive branch.
I’d respect the former Clinton campaigners more if they’d just come out and admit that they’re already campaigning for next time and would like to thin out the field, rather than sending Lanny Davis et al. out to make these ridiculous and illogical arguments against competent legislators from their own party. It’s just sad.

This so called transcedent campaign of Obams its not working out so well…. they sealed their fate when they trashed the mainstream part of the democratic party in order to win the nomination… I think that the VP nomination should be left up to the delegates and then we will let the chips fall where they may… furthermore(and IM not a republican but a lifelong democrat) the recent ad by Mccain portraying Obama as nothing more than a world renown celebrity akin to Britney Spears or Paris Hilton is “spot on” like the Obamabots like to say all the time! This is disgusting and rather than be humiliated like I was for supporting Dukkakis in ’88 in my first election voting, I will enjoy the dismantling of the Obama campaign and the vanity and vengence its people have for their Antipathy for people that dont go along with them…I am right on this … I have been throught the primaries and you all will be a laughing stock!

The best thing about Obama is that he is not stupid.
When George W Bush went on his European visit last month he went to Germany, France, Italy & the UK. Barack Obama last week went to Germany, France & the UK. Barack Obama hates Italians & Italian-Americans and his pastor even called Italian-Americans as Garlic Noses. Barack Obama is not stupid, he knows that Italy is a nothing country and Italian-Americans have no influence in this country compared to whites, Hispanics, Asians, Jews etc.. Italian-Americans are becoming the forgotton race of America and will soon be extinct.Little Italy has been taken over by the Chinese and even the Blacks are doing better politically. There is not one high profile Italian-American in this country anymore. The “Guidos” are a joke of a race than noone cares about. All the Guido Wops put more make-up than my woman..
The Guinea’s (Guidos) are becoming the laughing stock of this country. Can all the skinny little Guido’s to Go back to their ancient 3rd world country in Italy because America does not need them anymore !!!

how should a president choose their veep… simple, they should choose someone who is good for the administration. They should choose someone with skills and strengths in areas where they themselves are weak. If you’re basing you’re veep choice based on the voters you can pull, then you are doing it all wrong.
Clinton should not be Obama’s veep for the simple fact that she adds little to the administration (or atleast, not as much as other canidates). Anywhere she might help Obama, he can get even MORE out of other potential veeps… Obama would be a good president on his own right, clinton would be a good president on her own right, but they would not work together because they don’t really compliment eachother.
and personally, i think that, for obama’s administration, Hillary would do more good in the senate… She made such a strong showing during the primaries that it is gonna give her some serious weight when it comes to pushing legislation in the senate. We don’t just need a strong executive branch, we need a good senate aswell… we need them working together instead of working against each other like they are right now.

Obama created the push against long time Dems, thus dividing us on so many levels. He pushed half the party away by insulting them. People from our generation, for the most part support the Clintons as the numbers and generation gap shows. Unfortunately, Obama chose to bash groups of her supporters as well as the Clinton Legacy that we benefitted from as a Working Class. Clinton was the first two term Dem Pres. since FDR, that IS something we are proud of, regardless of Republican rhetoric. This was an unjust Primary in the eyes of many as well as insulting. Obama/Clinton or no vote! I do not support an Obama/Whom Ever vote! This NonDemocratic, Woman bashing, group bashing Primary for an Obama win, is a REAL ISSUE!

As a PUMA I pray Obama picks Kaine for Veep. As a Virginian I know it will be the worst choice he could possibly make.

Obama has destroyed the Democratic party. This was supposed to be OUR year. Obama is unqualified and unelectable. Obama is not qualified to be a U.S. Senator, let alone U.S. President.
The entire Obamarama spectacle has been a 24/7 media driven illusion. A dangerous one at that.
Wake up Democrats! Don’t nominate the one candidate (Obama) who cannot win in November. You have a chance to nominate a winning candidate next month in Denver when the superdelegates decide this nomination as neither Hillary or Obama earned enough delegates on their own. Hillary however, DID win the popular vote, winning MORE votes than ANY candidate of ANY party in history! Let’s give some credit where it’s due!
Hillary Clinton remains the most qualified and most electable candidate. The DNC MUST place her name in nomination and allow votes to be cast for her and COUNT ALL THE VOTES!
It’s Hillary 08 or McCain 08 and Hillary 2012. Country first, party second.
As for the VP lists, McCaskill is a joke, Sebelius is not qualified. These women should have supported Hillary. Traitors.

“No self respecting woman should wish for or work for the success of a party that ignores her sex” Susan B. Anthony
The Democratic party MUST be held accountable for their failure to denounced the rampant sexism, racism, classism, and voter disenfranchisment continually interjected into this 2008 campaign debacle by Barack Obama, his campaign, his nasty supporters and ALL media. In fact, the DNC is complicit in disenfranchising voters. It is unacceptable.
The DNC and Obama continue to stick it in the eye of female voters who make up the majority of the voting block of the Dem party. Women want Hillary by overwhelming numbers. WE will not have Barack Obama shoved down our throats. NO WE WON’T! The DNC has failed women in 2008.
The DNC understands two things, money and votes. WE have the power to with hold BOTH. DO SO>
Paybacks are hell, but necessary!
Country first, party second. It’s Hillary or McCain.

Lanny Davis rocks! He’s a true friend to Hillary. You don’t find too many in politics.
Posted by: R | August 1, 2008, 12:29 pm 12:29 pm
First of all, Lanny Davis just needs to give it up with the Hillary Clinton support as far as this Presidential Election. I am sick and tired of him. Furthermore, he knows not what he says.
Even the pro-Hillary for VP site has admitted she won’t be picked because Obama once someone who is not a Washington insider, someone who believes in his style of governing (read: working across the aisle), someone who does not believe in Lobbyists etc etc…Hillary is not that person, and the person closest to that description is…KATHLEEN SEBELIUS. Yes, a woman. But unlike you rabid Hillary feminists, Obama would not base his decision on placating females, all logical Democratic woman already know they need to support Obama. Hillary represents the opposite of Obama, she represents the Washington establishment, and that is not indicative of the kind of change he wants to bring to Washington. His selection of Sebelius would be based on merit and ability to lead, not her gender. Get a clue please.

I’m sick of the Clintons. I’m an independent and will not vote for another Clinton. She’s out of touch and this country has been destroyed by the policies of the Bush’s & the Clintons. Bye Bye HA HA Hillary i’m glad you lost. When McCain loses in November go away with him please

He knows how much she wants to be president. If he did choose her for vice president and they won the race he
would have to sleep with one eye open, at least thats what the ghost of Vince Foster tod me.

It is so sad how Obama has debased the struggles women face in this society today. Obama never seems to forget mentioning how racist our country is. Yeah, that makes us feel great. It is all about personal gain for him.

Hillary in 2008! Hillary in 2012! Then we’d see some REAL change in this country. I plan to vote for her this fall by writing her name in on my ballot, if only for symbolic value. I just can’t vote for Obama (too callow and slippery) or McCain (anti-choice, pro-guns, pro-war — need I go on?)It’s not too late to start a viable write-in campaign for Hillary!!

Key phrase: “longtime friend of Senator Clinton.”
Obama needs Clinton to win the women’s vote like he needs Clinton to win the Hispanic vote…like not at all. I wish the media would do its job rather than playing he said she said with close friends of the candidates. The U.S. media is like a high school hallway…all gossip and nothing constructive. And then we wonder why the most insightful comments that readers can come up with about our candidates is, “He’s full of himself” or “I don’t like him.” It’s about time this country came out of its adolescence.

How can any true Obama supporter actually support Hilary on the ticket? She led an intense smear campaign throughout the Primaries and now she thinks that Obama should just let her hop on his success train? Are you joking? Obama was never negative, and yet Hilary and her campaign continued to insult him again and again, pulling pathetic lines such as “Barack Osama”. Is this really someone that the American people want to have leading them? The idea is ridiculous.

OBAMA your MAMA…..appears to be in very deep do-do now. Hopefully, Obama will finally realize that he does nothing more than talk down to people.

What experience does Caroline Kennedy have? I think Obama asked because he wants to be associated with Kennedys like Bill was. Caroline should stick to creative arts and all the Foo Foo stuff. Robert Kennedy’s children are far more qualified and more involved in the day to day workings of govt. Robert Kennedy was more intelligent than his older brother. Both Caroline and her brother did not run for public office.

LMAO The Clintons will give us Republicans this Election and next time Hillary will run and the other half will be POd at her, giving us the election again.
Davis isn’t doing this to get Hillary on the ticket, this kind of stuff is exactly how to make sure she ISN’T on the ticket. If they push he can’t pick her if he wanted to. They are just trying to sabotage the campaign.
If she really wanted on the ticket the way would be to show Bill won’t be trouble and that she is an asset and is a team player. It would have been a HUGE surprise and a media frenzy if the campaign acted like she didn’t have a chance and then a surprise at the convention, could still happen, but the more they push the less likely it will be her because it would make Obama look weak to be forced to choose her.
If it is really sabotage, then their legacy will be totally shot, they will be blamed for losing the congress, and three Presidential elections, and maybe four, she will set back women’s rights and they will look like racists. The crazy stuff some of her wacko supporters are doing just reminds everyone of all the reasons for decades, people have said women can’t be President. The first Woman President and first black President will be Republican, I don’t even know when a Democrat might have a chance to win the White House, not any time soon.

Its clear that Senator Clinton has more experience, background, and connections that Senator Obama. No boss likes to be upstaged by #2. There’s no way he will appoint her as VP, unless its the only way for her to win. If Hilary was smart, she’d wait for a chance to go it on her own, and take an ambassadorial role to a key country. Then, in 4 years, she’ll be back.

If BO picks anyone other than Hillary, I will vote for McCain.
it means he has NO interest in unifying the party.
Posted by: Jayne | August 1, 2008, 11:01 pm 11:01 pm
I have never voted for a Republican in my entire life, but that will change this november. Because of his despicable desecration of the Clinton legacy, I will commit political suicide and vote for John McCain. I’d rather have four more years of Republican rule than to give Barack Obama a chance to screw up the country. He is one of the most unqualified candidates to ever run for president. Besides, a McCain victory will enable Hillary to run(and win) in 2012.

If Obama picks Hillary, he’ll lose plenty of votes…including mine! Sebelius or McCaskill are both GREAT choices. These two women who have more experience than Senator Clinton and will attract *not repel* voters. Anyone who might be “angered” by Obama picking a woman other than Clinton (who has sky high negatives) has many problems that can’t be adressed in this forum.

Just a question – When Republicans vote straight ticket they are called idiots but when Democrats vote straight ticket they perceive themselves as profits, full of wisdom and appear to tell the rest of us that they, the almighty Democrats know what’s best for the rest of us minions! I’ve been a Democrat for over 40 years now and think that they have left me behind. Mind you, McCain isn’t the answer either. I just think this election year is a loose/loose for the American public.

Dr. Tantillo (‘the marketing doctor’) has a blog on branding ( http://blog.marketingdoctor.tv ) and did a post back in May on the idea of an Obama-Clinton ticket–arguing that from a branding perspective, it makes no sense, and actually wouldn’t be a good move for Clinton’s brand, either.
“Because of the length of this primary fight, brand identity and loyalty to brand have become central. What this means is that a kind of brand mutual exclusivity has set in.”

It is NOT Obama’s choice who he picks for veep. He has got to pick Clinton or he will not win. He needs to consider his ego or 1600 Pennsylvania ave. He can’t have it both ways. You know i’m getting to a point where Obama is annoying me as much as Bush did, now that’s talent. Way to look like a moron Obama!

Obama is ALL substance with a dash of style for flavor.
All those people who keep repeating “no substance” can’t see the forest for the trees.

Why can’t the Clinton folks just accept defeat gracefully? Lanny Davis and the alleged ABC reporter/friend of Hillary need to just go away.
This isn’t about gender. This is about power for the Clintons and their cronies.
Their ability to lie and change tunes mid song are nothing short of amazing.
Clintonistas: you lost – now go away.
The nation is very tired of you and your divisive approach to government.
Bye now.

All the polls show that having Hillary on board would improve his chances in critical swing states (see Lanny Davis’ editorial in the WSJ earlier this week) and with important demographic groups. And there is plenty of precedent for selecting one of your biggest primary opponents, from Kennedy-LBJ right through to Kerry-Edwards. What if the situation were reversed and Obama had gotten half of all votes, but was just shy of what was needed to get the nomination? His supporters would be screaming for her to put him on the ticket. And rightly so! Please spare me all the stuff about how Hillary doesn’t represent change. Most of the folks that have been mentioned — Biden, Nunn (!), Republican Chuck Hagel (!), etc. don’t represent change! And forget about the equally absurd non-issue re: “How will he control Bill?” If he can’t control Bill, he has no business being president! This is a no-brainer, folks. But sadly I think the idea that he may need and benefit from a partnership with Hillary pushes his pride into over-drive.

Why should Obama consider Sebelius or McCaskill? They’re effective governors and they have managerial skills.
While on the other hand, Hillary could not even manage her campaign. There was open infighting, defiance, mismanagement, and her staffers, consultants, and HUSBAND were working on projects that she said she was against.
And she spent TWO HUNDRED TWELVE MILLION DOLLARS = $212,000,000.00 and counting — and still has not paid all her bills.
It doesn’t matter that she’s a woman. She’s not a competent leader. And the United States does not want another George W. B.

Samantha,
Carolyn Kennedy’s political credibility stems from the same source as Hillary’s — vicarious family member status. Except that Carolyn’s solo activities reveal more personal integrity.

For all u foolish posters who believe just because those two women might be somewhat competent governors of relatively unimportant states the point you are missing is the only person Obama needs to pick is the person best suited to help him win. The VP does not do anything! Neither of those governors are going to help Obama win. At this point Hillary Clinton is the only democrat who can save Obama from himself. He has yet to make it past the margin of error in polls and considering his so called popularity those are dismal prospects. Continue to pretend that Hillary did not garner the votes of the actual part BASE and you will do so at your own peril. The democrats CAN NOT win in november without the votes of Clinton’s supporters, which just happen to be the bread and butter of the democratic base, and if you have not noticed, we are NOT sold on Obama. Clinton won the majority of votes during the primary and all the largest democratic states. Keep this in mind while you degrade her. Her campaign has far from failed when you consider that we are still discussing what her role should be going forward. Looks to me like she is still a winner.
