McCain: ‘We’re Proud of That Commercial’

ABC News’ David Wright reports: Who knew Paris and Britney would ever be a campaign issue???

The McCain campaign’s decision to feature the women in a 30-second spot accusing rival Sen. Barack Obama of being a shallow celebrity has consumed the campaign debate today.

At a town hall meeting in Racine, Wisc., Republican Sen. John McCain tried to steer clear.  But a young voter wouldn’t let him off the hook.

"It seems to me that you’ve flip flopped," 23 year old Obama supporter Wendy Chavours-Freeman said, referring to McCain’s promises to run a clean campaign on the issues.

McCain defended the ad.  "All I can say is we’re proud of that commercial," McCain said. "We think Americans need to know that I believe that we should base this campaign on what we can do for Americans at home and how we can make Americans safe and prosperous and that’s the theme of our campaign."

"I respect and admire sen Obama, but we have stark differences," McCain said.  "And those differences need to be drawn."

"These campaigns are tough," he said, "But I’m proud of the campaign we’ve run."

Earlier today, McCain’s campaign manager went so far as to issue a statement accusing Obama of "playing the race card."

"Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It’s divisive, negative, shameful and wrong,” said Rick Davis in a statement.

Davis was responding to Obama’s own comments Wednesday in response to the ad.  Obama told reporters: "The only way they figure they’re going to win this election is if they make you scared of me. So what they’re saying is, "Well, we know we’re not very good but you can’t risk electing Obama. You know, he’s new, he doesn’t look like the other presidents on the currency, you know, he’s got a funny name."

Today in Cedar Rapids, Obama chided McCain for raising what he considers a trivial issue: "Given the seriousness of the issues, you’d think we could have a serious debate.  But so far,  all we’ve been hearing about is Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. I mean, I do have to ask my opponent, is that the best you can come up with? Is that really what this election is about? Is that what is worthy of the American people?"

For his part, McCain renewed his call for frequent town hall debates with Obama, an offer Obama has so far refused.  "Yesterday in case you missed it, he wanted to have a duel.  I’m not sure what sort of weapons he had in mind," McCain chuckled.  "Why can’t we just have a discussion?"

Both Britney and Paris have made more millions in dollars earned than either McCain or Obama. These guys might learn something from them instead of ridiculing them. It is true, they are celebrities going around looking for attention but so did Obama. Senator Obama should behave as a stateman, not a showman.

It has “consumed the campaign debate” because YOU AND THE REST OF THE PRESS CHOOSE TO COVER TRIVIAL CRAP INSTEAD OF DOING REAL REPORTING. You cover only this trivia, then write in the passive voice about how campaign coverage has mysteriously included only trivia.

McCain mentions his age everytime he speaks, is he not using the “age” card? So it is OK for McCain to point out how old he is, but Obama cannot mention the color of his skin? Total hypocrisy!

LOL! the RACE CARD! The McCain campaign needs to be schooled in what the race card is! Come to Detroit, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is an expert on the race card.

McCain’s campaign is acting so juvenile and to think, he’s going to be 72 years old. Guess some people never grow up.

Obama has played the race card since the primaries with Hilary and I am glad he is getting called on it. He even did it in his speech in Germany stating something to the effect of “I know I don’t look like those who have spoken to you in the past”. If he is the “postracial” candidate then he needs to stop trying to “scare” the liberals and left-leaning independents by saying the GOP is going to “scare” people about his funny name and the fact that he does not look like the other presidents on the currency. I think it is so disheartening that this man who claims to be a new kind of politician is the one bringing up race….

Before there was Paris, there was Cindy McCain.
The size zero blond (?) heiress that dates married men. Drug abuser, yup. Keeps her husband in $900 ferragamo loafers. Has muliple homes worth in excess of $12 million dollars.
I doubt that Paris cooks, but Cindy steals recipes.
All American values?

John has nothing to offer and Obomber is Jimmy Carter 2008. This looks more and more like the 1968 election that one suited for the 21st century. Only McCain is Nixon and Obomber is Humphrey. Where is McCarthy when we need him?

Eight years ago McCain was a nice guy, someone I wanted to win the White House, now he has become a pig in politics. He is the reason we need someone like Obama, someone new. McCain has become more personal against Obama than any other Presidential candidate in American history. I now despise the pig. He does not deserve to be treated with the respect one should give a Presidential candidate or a war hero. His actions since he left the service leave a lot to be desired, starting with the Keating Five. I am also starting to despise those who support him. For the record, I have not voted for a Democratic President since I started voting, starting with Richard Nixon, but I will this time, however, I am going to give him lots of money. It is time for change and McCain is demonstrating he is not the one to do it.

It is a stupid commercial but I see nothing “wrong” with it.
Obama is popular and what is wrong with that?
McCain should talk policy though and what it means. His desire to expand drilling near the US will only take relatively cheap local oil (cheap because it is closer to the US and the rights will be given away) that will be made available to the WORLD not the US at the WORLD PRICE not some US only deal.
It won’t help the US citizens much.
We should make sure any new leases of US territory include profit participation. I bet most of the oil companies’ profits are from cheap US oil that is sold at World prices.

All I can do at this point is LOL!!!!
I saw on Morning Joe today one of McCains managers.
She was just as bad, she actually sat in that chair and lied and keep such a straight face. She really believed their own lies. Which by the way, the real truth was on tape and has been shown time and time again.
What a whole bunch of stupid low live people.
Any way to brain wash us and make us believe all their lies so they can go along the same old road. Bush’s road to hell.

Oh ya, speaking of Debates… On Morning Joe this McCain managers also told Obamas that they would debate him anytime anyplace, Obama just needs to bring the people. LOLOLOL
How sad was that statement. McCain can’t get anyone to go and listen to him so he wonders thru stores knocking food off shelfs, and wants to debate Obama so maybe someone will show up.

Posted by: Ben Straub | July 31, 2008, 2:59 pm 2:59 pm

Unfortunately, Obama is in fact all gloss and no substance (sorry to insult Paris and Britney on this). He has been all along. What hurts for the mindless obama followers is that they are themselves forced to realize their own superficiality in following him like sheep. THe resonance this ad has caused is indicative of Obama’s weekness, not McCains. More to come as we finally look into Obama’s empty record and career.

There is an unspoken message from the McCain camp that amounts to calling the American people stupid and easily deceived.
As though America can’t tell for herself when she’s being swayed emotionally.
Obama never talks down to us, but to the contrary he points out that we are at heart a decent and savvy people, wide awake and wanting a change from all of this negativity.

And why is Obama comparing himself to the president on our dollar bill?? Washington was white, I’ll give him that, but he did have some record to speak of before becoming president. He also refused salary for his general position and as first president. Careful school boy!

After months of being puzzled at the popularity of Barack Obama, I’ve finally figured out the Obama Playbook. It consists of 3 main offensive plays, as detailed below. Will Obama’s strategy work? Time will tell . . .
1. The ordinary meaning of words are to be placed in a larger “context” or dismissed as incidents of “misspeaking.” Thus, when ABC broadcasts the tape of Michelle Obama admitting she has never been proud of her country, the Obama campaign dismisses it entirely, claiming she misspoke, and then chides ABC by saying, “to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her, I think, is just low class . . . ” (Of course, when Obama takes Senator McCain’s remarks about being in Iraq for 100 years out of context and mis-characterizes them, we are simply supposed to overlook that).
2. Obama’s associations with crazy people and crooks are to be overlooked. In ObamaWorld, any mention of his terrorist friends, white-hating church, or criminal associations is merely a “distraction” from the real issues, as defined by Barack Obama. Obama’s judgement on Iraq is to be admired. His judgement on other issues is not to be questioned.
3. Accuse the Republicans of racism without actually using the word “racist.” In other words, claim Republicans want people to be afraid of him because he “looks different” or has a “funny-sounding name.” Keep up this line of attack, despite the fact that neither John McCain, his surrogates, nor any member of the national Republican Party has attacked Barack Obama on race.

By the way, referring to him as “boy” in your later message reveals your underlying racism.

If you happened to have caught the last Repub debate at the Ronald Reagan Library, Romney was hitting McCain hard and McCain was SO angry, he was saking and went past red-faced and straight to purple. It was hilarious to watch. The little clown hates to be corrected or challenged. Rumors were at the time that Romney dropped out to stop the debates, since McCain was going to win and the RNC did not want another repeat.

This ad has generated a lot of talk on the forums and blogs, and most people who are posting seem to feel it is harming Mccain more than Obama.
Mccain said he was going to run a cleaner and less vitriolic campaign, one focused on the issues and not simply attacking his opponent with substance-less tripe like this ad.

Ralph, learn the facts (again, I repeat my comment about sheepish Obama fans). He taught at U of Chicago for 12 years (I was there) and read yesterday’s NY Times article or mention on this web site of it and his “unimpressive” tenor there. He refused to even take a position on the ACLU case that went to the supreme court, trying to overturn police efforts to combat gang violence in Hyde Park. I rest my case about Obama’s followers. Read his record!!!

Surely McCain’s campaign team must know how desperate and childish these ads make their candidate look….don’t they? They’ve not come forward with ONE thing to say for their campaigns (possibly because they have NOTHING new to offer us than the past 7 1/2 years have), and they continue to act kids mocking a classmate.
Personally, I hope he keeps sending out these ludicrous ads, making him look worse and worse each time. If he keeps this up, Obama won’t need to run any attack ads….McCain’s shooting himself in the foot quite nicely.

This is really all about electing someone for their experience and knowledge and wisdom. We do not need a rock star to run the country. The McCain ad was about images and taxes. Obama retorts with more feigned “picking on me” race cr*p. He continually played the race card against the Clintons. When he does not have a substantive answer, he always pulls the race card. McCain called it like it is. We understand exactly what he was talking about. If Obama really wanted to stick to issues like taxes or any other valid issue, he could join McCain in town hall debates. But, no, he likes repetitive soundbites, caucuses, large rock concert venues even in another country, and absolutely no debates. McCain is the straight talker who can competently discuss the issues one on one. Obama cannot. He is lacking in experience, knowledge, and wisdom, and he is a lousy debater.
Try going to another venue in Germany again to show how the crowds are so adoring. Alas, he did not talk like Kennedy or Reagan. Pull another one out of the hat!
I need to go to church, or hunting, cause this bitterness just will not go away. It must be the backpedaling and double-talking and race-card pulling that’s done it.

I posted that, actually – I stand corrected on where he taught, he *graduated* from Harvard Law (instead of 5th from the bottom of 899 students at the Naval Academy), and he *taught* at UChicago for 12 years – my mistake. I did read that article yesterday, and it sounded like he focused most of his efforts on his teaching rather than other academic pursuits, which is why he got consistently high ratings from his students, who packed his classes. He’s a thoughtful guy who can see multiple sides of an issue, which will make him an entirely different President than the disgrace we’ve had in office the last 7+ years and McCain, who aligns with that disgrace.
Your characterization of Obama supporter is likely unfounded in reality – I have a pal I work with who is a pro-life bow hunter who has always voted Republican and is voting for Obama this year because, as he put it, “We’ve tried stupid in the past, and stupid just doesn’t work.” McCain can’t even keep Sunni vs. Shiite straight, and he called Petraeus the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (he’s not). McCain is a poor senator and a terrible candidate, and the GOP gets what it deserves after years of driving this country into the mess it’s in.

Wendy Chavours-Freeman, a student at UW-Parkside, has been an enthusiastic Obama supporter since a college professor assigned her Obama’s autobiography for a class. She said the assignment was a surprise because the professor was conservative, but even he thought Obama would be a strong presidential candidate.
Whoever is elected will have the difficult job of cleaning up the mess left by President Bush, Chavours-Freeman said. “Anyone will be better than him,” she said, referring to Bush. “As long as he doesn’t get a third term, I’ll be happy.”
Young woman is a student. Obama’s base of course.

Try reading about BOTH sides of something before you say “The Democratic party doesn’t want old people”. Do you honestly think EITHER party doesn’t want VOTES from ANY group of people? Pfft….wise up, brother.”
Again, look at the nasty age related comments that are directed at McCain. To me, this indicates a lack of respect for elders. I guess they’re good for a vote, but nothing else.

Phil Gramm’s wife was on the Board of Directors at Enron during the collapse. The made over $12 million in that deal and the Enron employees lost everything, their jobs, their homes and their life savings. How is this MORE acceptable to YOU?
It really shows the moral character of John McCain, that he can still call Phil Gramm “a brilliant economist” after all the harm he caused.

The terms “race” and “racism” was not overtly used by either campaign until yesterday when Tapper of ABC used it in the heading of one his blogs yesterday. Now it caught on like a virus and now the McCain camp feels free to use them now. As I pointed yesterday, these terms were never used until the media injected into the public discourse. This is just a media ploy to create sensational headlines and poor journalistic abilities in maintaining un-biased reporting. I attempted to posted my comments several times and ABC saw fit to remove every time. If I am lucky and this stays up for at least a few minutes so someone can read it and pass it on. As others have admitted here as well that ABC is overtly censoring this blog.

Mack: “Ok. You’re saying it’s ok to attack McCain for his age, although the attack doesn’t apply to anyone else in that age group. Does that make sense to you?”
Yes, because he’s the only person in that age group who’s the (presumptive) nominee for President of the United States from a major political party. He might be the only person in that age group running for President, which makes those concerns about his age, and the deterioration that naturally comes with it, valid. Do you really want a guy who might be mentally feeble in just a year or two to have his finger on the button?

Anyone starting to wonder about McCain?
His mental capacity is a legitimate concern since he’s running for the office of president of the United States and leader of the free world.
See how stacks up mentally:

Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that b^$&%* is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
if you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!

Matelot: McCain suggested that Obama visit Iraq and listen to the people on the ground. Obama gave a speech on his plans for Iraq and Afghanistan, then went to learn for himself. He decided that since he is already President, he should to make it a grand tour with lots of photo-ops. The big rock concert in Germany drew crowds alright. We learn he is not The Messiah, however. He could not even visit the wounded servicemen in Germany. He could not get the photo ops there. What an agenda! If it puffs him up, do it.

If you do, the Rest of the World has passed you by while you are trying to think why the American people actual took a chance on this UnKnown. You have to bring up False issues & talking point, because you can’t touch Barack on the issues.

No punches pulled here.
Voight has spent a lot of time with wounded troops in the past few years, and it shows. The Oscar-winner knows an actor when he sees one, and his contempt for Obama is complete:
If Mr. Obama had his way, he would have pulled our troops from Iraq years ago and initiated an unprecedented bloodbath, turning over that country to the barbarianism of our enemies. With what he has openly stated about his plans for our military, and his lack of understanding about the true nature of our enemies, there’s not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world, and from Iran, which is making great strides toward getting the atomic bomb. And while a misleading portrait of Mr. Obama is being perpetrated by a media controlled by the Democrats, the Obama camp has sent out people to attack the greatness of Sen. John McCain, whose suffering and courage in a Hanoi prison camp is an American legend.

PAT, before you go off the deep end for Obama you should read The Obama Nation by John Corsi
By tracing Obama’s career and influences from his early years in Hawaii and Indonesia, the beginnings of his political career in Chicago, his voting record in the Illinois Legislature, his religious training, his religious conversion through his recent involvement in Kenyan politics, his political advisers and fund-raising associates and his meteoric campaign for president, Jerome Corsi shows that an Obama presidency would, in his words, be “a repeat of the failed extremist politics that have characterized and plagued Democratic Party politics since the late 1960s.”
Corsi examines:
* Obama’s extensive connections with Islam and radical politics.
* His 20-year religious affiliation with the black-liberation theology of Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
* Obama’s continuing connections with Kenya.
* Obama’s involvement in the slum-landlord empire of Chicago political fixer Tony Rezko.
* Obama’s far-left domestic policy.
* Obama’s anti-war, anti-nuclear foreign policy.
Soon after Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Corsi began investigating Obama’s personal and political background. This book, with more than 600 footnotes, is the result.

Are you friggin’ serious? That’s the worst rationalization I’ve read in a while. “Most people aren’t even smart enough to blah blah blah”….please…you and I both know that’s not true in the least.
McCain WAS a maverick 8 years ago, and then he sold out to become part of Bush’s in-crowd.
As for McCain being a “straight talker”: see above comment.
In terms of McCain being knowledgeable about the issues…I have no doubt that he is, but the problem is he’s not friggin’ talking about them…he’s talking about Paris Hilton, and launching attacks that could well be attributed to a petulant child who hasn’t gotten his way.
As for “experience”, he’s got that, for sure. My only quam is this: he has the same “experience” that has taken this country and turned it on it’s head during the past 7 1/2 years. No doubt he’s got loads more time in public service, but all of that times doesn’t mean d**k to me if I don’t like what he’s saying, or if I don’t believe he’d do a good job….which I don’t.

Americans seem to be much more interested in electing a ‘Commander-in-Chief’ who can beat the war drum than a ‘President’ who can find a diplomatic path to peace.
Senator McCain has been dubbed a ‘war hero’ for spending 5 years as a POW at the Hanoi Hilton. How does this makes him an expert on military strategy?
By that logic, we should find some awesome candidates amongst the illegally detained POW’s at GITMO!

A British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions of dollars to Barack Obama’s fundraiser just weeks before an imprudent land deal that has returned to haunt the presidential contender, an investigation by The Times discloses.
The money transfer raises the question of whether funds from Nadhmi Auchi, one of Britain’s wealthiest men, helped Mr Obama buy his mock Georgian mansion in Chicago.
A company related to Mr Auchi, who has a conviction for corruption in France, registered the loan to Mr Obama’s bagman Antoin “Tony” Rezko on May 23 2005. Mr Auchi says the loan, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA, was for $3.5 million.

Three weeks later, Mr Obama bought a house on the city’s South Side while Mr Rezko’s wife bought the garden plot next door from the same seller on the same day, June 15.
Mr Obama says he never used Mrs Rezko’s still-empty lot, which could only be accessed through his property. But he admits he paid his gardener to mow the lawn.
Mrs Rezko, whose husband was widely known to be under investigation at the time, went on to sell a 10-foot strip of her property to Mr Obama seven months later so he could enjoy a bigger garden.
Mr Obama now admits his involvement in this land deal was a “boneheaded mistake”.
Mrs Rezko’s purchase and sale of the land to Mr Obama raises many unanswered questions.
It is unclear how Mrs Rezko could have afforded the downpayment of $125,000 and a $500,000 mortgage for the original $625,000 purchase of the garden plot at 5050 South Greenwood Ave.
In a sworn statement a year later, Mrs Rezko said she got by on a salary of $37,000 and had $35,000 assets. Mr Rezko told a court he had “no income, negative cash flow, no liquid assets, no unencumbered assets [and] is significantly in arrears on many of his obligations.”
Mrs Rezko, whose husband goes on trial on unrelated corruption charges in Chicago on March 3, refused to answer questions about the case when she spoke by telephone to The Times.

I Beleive that EVERY REPUBLICAN IN EVERY OFFICE AND IN EVERY STATE MUST GO….

Asked if she used money from her husband to buy the land next to Mr Obama’s house, she said: “I can’t answer these questions, I’m sorry.”
Asked how long she and her husband had known Mr Auchi, she replied: “I will not be able to answer this question.”
Mr Auchi’s lawyer, asked whether the Fintrade Services loan was used to buy the land which became Mr Obama’s garden, stated: “No, not as far as my client is aware.”
Mr Auchi’s links with Mr Rezko are a new political headache for Mr Obama, the charismatic Illinois senator vying to become America’s first African-American president.

Clinton mocks Obama’s ‘celestial’ message
Hillary Clinton has sought to make Mr Rezko, who has bankrolled Mr Obama’s political career since his first run for the Illinois state senate in the mid-1990s, into an election issue by calling him a “slum landlord” in a televised debate. She has repeatedly suggested that Mr Obama has effectively not been “vetted” by media scrutiny and will not withstand “the Republican attack machine”.
Bill Burton, a spokesman for Mr Obama, told The Times: “The bottom line is Obama does not recall ever meeting him [Mr Auchi].”
The house-and-garden deal raised questions about whether Mr Rezko, a property developer and fast-food restauranteur, made it possible for the Obamas to purchase a mansion they could otherwise not afford.
Mrs Rezko paid the asking price for the garden but the Obamas bought the house for $1.65 million, – $300,000 less than the asking price. The sellers deny they offered the Obamas a discount on the house because the garden had fetched full price from Mrs Rezko.
Mr Rezko has since been indicted for allegedly scheming to pressure companies seeking business with the state of Illinois for kickbacks and contributions to the governor Rod Blagojevich’s campaign. He goes on trial on March 3.
A prosecution document filed last month alleged that a “political candidate” – identified by the Chicago Sun-Times as Mr Obama – received a $10,000 campaign contribution from what is said to be a $250,000 kickback in the corruption case. That means Mr Obama’s name could figure in Mr Rezko’s trial, although he is not accused of any wrongdoing.
Mr Obama insists he never used his office to do favours for Mr Rezko but admits that, as an Illinois state senator, he once wrote letters to housing officials urging them to provide money in support of a proposed apartment building for elderly people which Mr Rezko wanted to build.
Mr Obama has publicly sought to atone for his closeness to Mr Rezko, paying $150,000 to charity to distance himself from a man accused of political corruption.

Posted by: chattyway | July 31, 2008, 8:18 pm 8:18 pm

The spotlight fell on Mr Rezko’s ties to Mr Auchi last month when the Chicago businessman was thrown in jail for violating his bail terms by failing to declare a different $3.5 million loan from the British billionaire, made in April 2007. Prosecutors feared Mr Rezko, who travels widely in the Middle East, might flee to a country without an extradition treaty such as his birthplace of Syria.
Mr Auchi was convicted of corruption, given a suspended sentence and fined £1.4 million in France in 2003 for his part in the Elf affair, described as the biggest political and corporate scandal in post-war Europe. He, in a statement from his media lawyers, claims he is appealing against the sentence.
Mr Auchi founded his Luxembourg-based General Mediterranean Holding (GMH) in 1979, a year before he left Iraq. He says that he did business with his native country when it was considered a friend of the West but ceased to trade with the late Saddam Hussein’s regime once sanctions were imposed after the invasion of Kuwait.
Mr Rezko has told a court that Mr Auchi is a “close friend.” Mr Auchi’s lawyer told The Times: “It is untrue that my client and Mr Rezko are ‘close friends’. Mr Auchi first met Mr Rezko after the 2003 Iraq war and they have a business relationship.”

Mr Rezko and Mr Auchi have been partners in a pizzeria business in the Mid-West and a major 62-acre land development in Riverside Park in Chicago.
According to court documents, Mr Rezko’s lawyer said his client had “longstanding indebtedness” to Mr Auchi’s GMH. By June 2007 he owed it $27.9 million.
Under a Loan Forgiveness Agreement described in court, Mr Auchi lent Mr Rezko $3.5 million in April 2005 and $11 million in September 2005, as well as the $3.5 million transferred in April 2007.
That agreement provided for the outstanding loans to be “forgiven” in return for a stake in the 62-acre Riverside Park development.
A posting last week on a GMH-owned website, middle-east-online.com, portrayed Mr Auchi as a Middle Eastern “Donald Trump” with a global business construction empire.
Mr Auchi visited the United States in 2004. Pictures show him meeting Emil Jones, the president of the Illinois state senate, an ally of Mr Obama, a former state senator.
Both Mr Auchi and Mr Obama say they have no memory of meeting each other. But, according to a source, the two may have had a brief encounter at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago where Mr Auchi’s visit was being honoured with a dinner attended by the Governor when Mr Obama, coincidentally in the hotel, dropped in.
An aide to Mr Obama said he did attend an event at the Four Seasons at which Mr Rezko was present but does not remember meeting Mr Auchi. “He shook a lot of hands and met a lot of people,” the aide said. “We do not remember individual people.”
Prosecutors say that, after Mr Auchi was unable to enter the United States in 2005, Mr Rezko approached the US State Department to get him a visa and apparently asked “certain Illinois government officials to do the same.” Mr Obama denies he was approached. Mr Auchi’s lawyer has emphasised to The Times that it would be entirely false to imply that money had been lent by GMH to Mr Rezko in return for Mr Rezko seeking to assist Mr Auchi to obtain a visa. The two men’s relationship, the lawyer stressed, was a busines s one.
Mr Auchi’s lawyer said the purpose of the Fintrade Services loan was to “assist the financial position” of a pizzeria company called AR Pizza, in which GMH held a shareholding. He said the loan had since been repaid in the form of a greater stake in the Chicago 62-acre land project.
AR Pizza has since become a defendant in a civil lawsuit by the Papa John’s pizzeria chain, which alleges that it continued to operate a string of former Papa John’s franchises under the name “Papa Tony’s” without permission.
Mr Auchi’s lawyer said: “My client played no part in the management and/or day to day running of AR Pizza, the GMH Group being an entirely passive investor in the company. Further, there was no need as a mimimum return on the investment was guaranteed. As to the court proceedings, my client is not a party to these. He denies any wrongdoing in relation to his involvement in AR Pizza.”
Mr Rezko was also a major fundraiser for Governor Blagojevich. The governor’s chief fundraiser Christopher Kelly, who also served as his gambling adviser, is fighting tax charges related to betting losses. The Associated Press reported that last month Mr Auchi’s conglomerate also gave a loan to Mr Kelly secured on a Nevada land deal which the governor’s bagman was involved in.

Bwahhhah Henderson, now stop making me laugh so—I am going to pee myself. I can’t believe any would try to deny Obama and his puppet master Rezko…Did you know that Rezko bought Obama while he was still in college and in all likelyhood it was Rezko that got Obama’s foot in the door in the notorious Chi-Town corrupt politics where Rezko is a big wig in the bought politician scene.

Dave, stop it…I can’t take two of you ding dongs making me laugh. Hint: Most republicans and independents and any with any common sense know that McCain and Bush barely get along–so saying they will be the same is totally stupid…..two different ideologies completely hun. McCain is much more liberal and has always been so, while Obama is much more communististic.

you think Obama supporters don’t know much. I know that my grandchildren, childrens, children will be paying for bush’s invasion of Iraq (i refuss to call it a war) snd his bad decission of running this country. the Sentor of Alaska took more than a car trade-in

Sandy because Bush was in office since McCain was 64 or even better yet let us not forget who really gave us McCain—-you goofy dems. Or did you already forget the early primaries where the demmies were telling their people to vote for the weakest republican or what they thought would be easiest to defeat republican….McCain. Good job Einsteins, you just put a liberal republican in when Obama/Hiliary were splitting the party. Alot of unhappy dems realize that voting for McCain is alot like voting for a moderate dem.

How dare McDevil insult the great Obamessiah? It’s not the Messiah’s fault that he is perfect and that he will change the world with all of the “Yes We Can” chants.
More of the same from the evil, neo-con, halliburton-loving, war-mongering, fascist, anti-children, bush regime.

Posted by: chattyway | July 31, 2008, 8:56 pm 8:56 pm

Whatever McCain is doing, it must be working to some degree:
July 31 — Republican John McCain is gaining on Democrat Barack Obama in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, three battleground states in the presidential election, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
Florida and Ohio are “too close to call,” while Obama leads in Pennsylvania 49 percent to 42 percent, the poll said. In Florida and Ohio, Obama has 46 percent support to 44 percent for McCain.
In the same poll a month ago, Obama held a four-point lead in Florida, a six-point lead in Ohio and a 12-point lead in Pennsylvania, according to the poll.
No White House candidate has been elected since 1960 without winning two of the three states, said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
The survey also found that, by margins of 27 percent to 30 percent, likely voters in each state agree with McCain and President George W. Bush that offshore drilling should be allowed. Obama opposes more offshore drilling.
The poll, conducted between July 23 and 29, surveyed 1,248 likely voters in Florida, 1,229 likely voters in Ohio, and 1,317 likely voters in Pennsylvania. The margins of error were plus or minus 2.8 percentage points in Florida and Ohio, and 2.7 in Pennsylvania.
Sounds like Hussein Obama will be a repeat of John Kerry…

Good read, thanks for posting it. I’m still failing to see the connection…that is from the Chicago Sun Times, yes? If so, do they archive all of their articles on their website?
Admittedly, I haven’t kept up with that case as much as I should have, but after hearing it written off so many times, nothing seemed to hold any water.
Anyway, let me know if those articles are archived….if so, I’ll read them tonight and let you know my opinion of everything tomorrow.
Again, I appreciate the info in the post, and hope to see more of the same as the election heats up!
Cheers,
Henderson

McCain should be proud of the commercial. He managed to point out in a humorous way what most of us are thinking. This Bozo hasn’t won the election yet, and he’s already trying to win his next campaign, for President of the World. He may be a legend in his own mind, but he’s starting to look pretty 26-ish to us.

I am constantly reminded of a passage in Obama’s book about how he learned to manipulate people (specifically his hippy dippy communist white mother). He actually wrote that he learned all he had to do was smile and not make any sudden movements and that especially whites would believe anything he told them. I was outraged when I read this passage, but you know what? After seeing so many of Obama’s supporters he is right that many of the white/black/brown/yellow/red populations are really that easy to manipulate. It’s hard to believe that people are really this dumb.

tom, the hate I see in America is mainly coming from the far left including Obama’s long time friends and associates, to name just a few among to many:
Rev. Wright, God D#### America, (Obama’s Pastor for 20 years)
Ayers, I wished I could have done more, referring to his past bombings of the Pentagon etc. (Ayer’s conducted a fund raiser in his home for Obama with Obama in attendance Obama still considers Ayers his friend)
Ludacrus, Obama “will paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ‘em terrified” ( Obama stated Ludicras was “talented” and is a friend of Ludacras).
Obama has so many low life friends which he has been forced to throw under the bus, one wonders if anyone can come up with a friend of Obama’s that Obama can stand by without having to throw them under the bus for another anti-American and racist statement.

tom, If Obama gets elected he will not help the poor he will hurt the poor.
Gas and energy prices will go sky high because Obama refuses to increase the supply of gas by drilling for more oil, building new refineries or new nuclear power plants, no no no, he wants the poor to “inflate their tires’ or “ride bicycles”.
food prices will go up because one of Obama’s main campaign contributers is the biofuel industry which is growing food for biofuel rather that food for poor people which is driving food prices for the poor higher and higher
Obama has stated that he will rescind President Bush’s tax cuts that will increase a family of four earning $50,000 taxes by $2500. Obama will also increase all other taxes including income taxes, payroll taxes, corporate taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes.
Obama’s tax increases will force employers to lay off more people or cut their salaries.
All of the above Obama plans for “change” will be change for the worse for poor people now and for future generations who will be forced to pay for the hugh number of high cost, inefficient and corruption driven government programs that Obama plans to create. These government programs won’t help the poor, they will hurt the poor. The only people who will benefit will be the faceless self serving government workers who will be telling everyone how to live their lives and the Rezko type hanger ons who will be getting the lions share of the tax payers money.

Please everyone, pity McCain because it is not his fault that he has this old age disease, but one thing is for sure – WE ARE NOT GOING TO MAKE MISTAKE OF ALLOWING HIM TO FINALLY PUT A NAIL IN THE COFFIN THAT BUSH BUILT.
McCain is on his way to the nursing home, not white house accompanied by Libermann as his nurse, afterall, Joe Libermann was a nurse before he became a lawyer.

Posted by: eezii | July 31, 2008, 10:40 pm 10:40 pm

tom, facts don’t seem to manner to you all you do is name call instead of coming up with any facts. For example:
Fact:
Obama refuses to increase the supply of energy by drilling for more oil, building new refineries or new nuclear power plants thus bringing the energy supply higher and costs lower. No no no Obama wants to reduce demand by “inflating our tires” or “riding bycicles” or worse increase supply by getting oil from our enemies in the Middle East.
Bottom line Obama could care less about the plight of the poor and the high price they are paying for fuel. Obama would rather cater to the agenda of the loony environmentalists who care more about preserving the waste land in Anwar than providing more oil for the people.
Fact: Same thing goes for the high cost of food, Obama is in the pocket of the bio fuel industry, one of Obama’s biggest campaign contributers, who make more money by growing crops for biofuel than food.
Fact: The higher taxes Obama is proposing for everyone will force employers to tighten their belts by reducing wages or laying off more people. Guess who will bare the brunt of this? You guessed it the poor.
As to government programs as a means of helping the poor, just name one please that is not riddled with a large number of government workers and lots of corruption.
If you want higher energy costs, higher food costs, higher taxes and higher unemployment than I guess Obama is your guy.

Posted by: harry | July 31, 2008, 10:46 pm 10:46 pm

McFlopper, So I guess you are immune from:
higher energy costs that is a direct result of the Democrats and Obama refusing to increase supply by drilling for more oil, building new refineries or new nuclear power plants.
higher food costs that is driven by the biofuel industry who make more money growing crops for biofuel than food.
higher taxes including dividend and capital gains taxes. I suspect that you or your pension fund has some investment in the market and a down turn in the economy will effect even you at some point.
By the way, if you think prices and inflation are high now just wait, if Obama gets elected prices on everything will go sky high, wages will go down and people will be layed off in droves. This is what happened during the Carter era and Obama’s policies of “change” are just a play back of the old Carter policies of:
tighten your belt, wear a sweater to keep warm, wait in long lines for gas, pay high interest rates for your home mortgage, and kow tow to our enemies so they won’t hate us and maybe they will be nice and release those hostages. Problem is it took Reagan to get the hostages released and jump start our economy.

Posted by: georgia | July 31, 2008, 11:23 pm 11:23 pm

harry – to begin with it was not Reagan who secured the release of the American hostages in Iran – it was Jimmy Carter. Iran waited to release the hostages until Reagan took office. Makes the rest of your rhetoric more than moot if you cannot even correctly recite history.

To “D” – at least “Harry” is backing up his dislike of Barack with FACTS. What exactly do you have to bolster your arguments but yet more rude, empty, & immature insults like the tired old, “McSame”, “Racist” “KKK”, “McBush” and even the nasty and mean, “Alzheimer’s patient”. The truth is moderation is KEY in running the US, it always has been. Even your “Messiah” Barack understands that. That is exactly why he is suddenly abandoning his long-held ultra-liberal beliefs and adopting GOP principles. He realized that after insulting white, blue-collar PA voters in the Primary, he NEEDS them to win the Presidency. Both McCain and Obama pander, its just that Barack does it so darn poorly.

Interview with Jim Lehrer (2000)
Jim Lehrer: Finally, for the record, you have not lost your desire to be President of the United States, have you?
John McCain: Certainly it’s been put in deep cold storage.
Lehrer: But you haven’t lost it.
McCain: Well, look, in 2004 I expect to be campaigning for the re-election of President George W. Bush, and by 2008, I think I might be ready to go down to the old soldier’s home and await the cavalry charge there.
Truer words were never spoken – right from the horse’s mouth.

Posted by: sandy | July 31, 2008, 11:25 pm 11:25 pm

harry: What are you going to drill all these new wells with, ther are no drilling rigs sitting around not used. The oil companies are waiting for rigs to finish the jobs they are doing now then they move to new drill sites. They have built one new oil refinery on American territory since 1972 another big lie, its located in the Carribean on the U S Virgin Islands, and its a huge facility with a very large deep water port facility.
Sorry harry I get COLA’s on my pension and it keeps up with the inflation rate but thanks for your concern. I invest mostly in tax free municipal bonds so as to avoid paying those pesky taxes your worried about me getting tangled up in. I will thank the turd ball most responsible for the higher prices on gas and oil, that being dear old Phil Gramm & hias wife Wendy who got hers from being a board member of Enron before it collapsed. You just keep on dreaming about you repig tax cuts that they keep telling you will never have to be raised, while they keep borrowing money from Japan & China to pay for what your taxes would have and without any interest charge. LOL Idiot.

Straight talk in action: a Republican strategist tells Business Week that John McCain was planning an attack ad against Barack Obama whether or not the Democrat visited wounded troops in Germany: What the McCain campaign doesn’t want people to know, according to one GOP strategist , is that they had an ad script ready to go if Obama had visited the wounded troops saying that Obama was…wait for it…wait….using wounded troops as campaign props. So, no matter which way Obama turned, McCain had an Obama bashing ad ready to launch. I guess that’s political hardball. But another word for it is the one word that most politicians are loathe to use about their opponents–a lie. Fear-mongering, lies and smear tactics…that’s ALL the Republicans have.

Posted by: sandy | July 31, 2008, 11:35 pm 11:35 pm

harry There is nobody preventing any oil company from building new oil refineries in this country, facts are they don’t want to build any new ones the profits they are receiving on what they are producing right now are paying them all record profits, why would they build new refineries to increase syupply which lower the price of gas and lower their profits????????????? Any guesses Einstine????????

A few months ago, Joe Klein wrote that John McCain was an honorable man and he would run an honorable campaign. Klein now admits he was wrong. Klein used to think, that McCain’s true voice was humble and moderate, but now Klein is beginning to think his Senate colleagues may be right about McCain’s temperament. From what Klein can gather, Mississippi Senator Thad Cochran, a Republican, reflected the views of many of his colleagues earlier this year when he said: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine…He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.” “The erratic nature of McCain’s campaign,” says Klein, “seems to be confirming that judgment.”
The John McCain of 2008 is NOT the same John McCain of 2000. The honorable maverick he once was is now long gone and replaced with a dottering, pandering, flip-flopping and thoroughly dishonorable old fool. The well-being and very soul of this nation is at stake if the ’08 John McCain wins this election.

Posted by: sandy | July 31, 2008, 11:42 pm 11:42 pm

The Republicans are despicable. But, it pays.
Siding with the oil companies worked financially for John McCain:
Campaign contributions from oil industry executives to Sen. John McCain rose dramatically in the last half of June, after the senator from Arizona made a high-profile split with environmentalists and reversed his opposition to the federal ban on offshore drilling.
Oil and gas industry executives and employees donated $1.1 million to McCain last month — three-quarters of which came after his June 16 speech calling for an end to the ban — compared with $116,000 in March, $283,000 in April and $208,000 in May

Seriously, Henderson, I would take John McCain’s experience for the last 7.5 years to Obama’s experience the last 20 years: Listening to his spiritual mentors Wright and Pfleger, dealings with Rezko, associations with Ayers, Auchi et al. John McCain is his own man, and he does not need someone to give him the words to express it. He does not even need to borrow a Deval Patrick speech in order to say something meaningful. He stands on strong principles and does not need to backpedal every day to “refine” his previous statements. The difference between his opinions on the issues would clearly tell you all of that if Obama were not afraid to debate one on one. Alas, Obama prefers the rock star venues, because he is a lousy debater.
I agree with wwee and other post that the ad was great. It explains my sentiments exactly: rock star buildup, little substance, afraid to debate the issues regarding taxes and energy independence from foreign oil, and a lot more. We are serious about all the issues, but sometimes, we just have to laugh at all of his “audacity”!

Posted by: georgia | July 31, 2008, 11:55 pm 11:55 pm

What is it about the presidential debates some of you people do not get. The deabtes are held AFTER each candidate has been declared the offical nominee of thier party. That is why they are called PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES.
The three POTUS debates have been set will be conducted on the following dates: September 26th, at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, October 7th, at Belmont University in Nashville and October 15th, at Hofstra University in Hempstead NY. One Vice Presidential debate is scheduled for Oct 2nd at Washington University in St Louis.
Do you people not do any research on your own – just come on blogs and throw idiotic nonsense around? The debates are a dead issue now – next idiotic charge?

Since Obama is a lousy debater, we will just have to take him at his words…and his “refined” words…and his “refined”….

chattyway – seems the rhetoric comes from you – all you do is spout off the propoganda the right-wing machine hands you.

Wall Street Journal columnist Daniel Henninger looks at John McCain’s tax policy and concludes, “This isn’t a flip-flop. It’s a sex-change operation.” He continues: “What I’m asking is, does John McCain have the mental focus, the intellectual discipline, to avoid being out-slicked by Barack Obama, if he isn’t abandoned by his own voters?”
The Chicago Tribune’s Frank James comments: “More evidence that Sen. John McCain is giving fits to many conservatives, like those who comprise The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board: they’re asking aloud if he’s stupid.”
My 11-year old grandson can answer that question. YES. Next question.

sandy, I just love McCain’s sense of humor! And his experience, his knowledge of the issues, his maverick stance, and his integrity and expeience in working across the aisle to get things done. The portion of interview you showed reveals a great wit and sense of humor to match his seriousness about the issues.

John Kerry hit a home run for our side today. Kerry wouldn’t allow Kyl to get his lies out there again! It was wonderful to see. I think Kerry fights hardest when he is defending his friends. Kerry really nailed Kyl on the Britney/Paris ad, and Kyl could NOT defend the use of the commercial, instead going through a litany of campaign policy talking points, while ignoring his initial defense of using those two stars in the first place. Kerry handled himself like a cross-examining prosecutor with a lying witness. I loved the way he made Kyl admit that the Britney Spears and Paris Hilton attack on Obama was without substance. Watching Kerry turn someone into a mop and vigorously scrub them across a floor is one of my joys. And, THEN, Kyl said McCain had commanded troops. Where in the world did McCain command troops? Squash one lie or misleading statement with these right-wingers and they crop up with six more as a last word, that they know won’t get rebutted, because the time’s up. Even better, JK’s scheduled to be on Meet The Press vs. Joe LIEberman (for McCain) this Sunday.

Sandy, you must be dreaming. The John McCain I see is not your description, even though you say he was an honorable maverick. He certainly still is! You speak of CNN and the WSJ doing stories on John McCain. They are no longer credible for reporting any truthful news. They have been in Obama’s tank since the primaries. They are no longer credible, and the ratings show that they have dropped considerably. I do not expect them to give John McCain fair coverage. After watching what they did to the Clintons, they have a personal mission to discredit Obama’s opponents. My bet is on the substance and experience of John McCain who stands up for what he believes in. He does not have to continually backpedal or “refine” what he just said. This latest ad really does tell it like it is. Your spin does not work with me, and it will not work with the voters.

Posted by: georgia | August 1, 2008, 12:52 am 12:52 am

georgia – McCain dos not know WHAT he believes in – he has over 100 flip-flops to his credit and so many gaffs I have lost count. CNN was never “in the tank” for Obama – they were in Hillary’s camp all the way so do not hand me that garbage. McCain may have been an honorable man in 2000, but he has sold his soul to the devil in this election year. McCain cannot handle this campaign … he cannot talk, think, reason and is no match for Senator Obama in any way. And, voters sure do not want McCain answering that 3:00 a.m. telephone call … actually he would probably sleep through it! We want a 24/7 President, not a 9-5 Monday – Friday one.

Posted by: sandy | August 1, 2008, 1:06 am 1:06 am

Does Senator Obama really need to ask the question, “is this the best you can do?” I’m sure many millions of Americans are asking that same question tonight. McCain’s record precedes him, Senator Obama doesn’t have to ask. Then McCain wants to have town hall debates again. Give me a break! Why would Senator Obama want to debate someone who can’t be serious for more than 24 hours. I think McCain’s been listening to his surrogate Hannity way too much.

Posted by: devilkev | August 1, 2008, 2:00 am 2:00 am

The McCain crew has nothing on the issues so they fall back on distractions and racism and what’s so startling is that this appeal to emotions rather than facts actually work on most Americans. I fear for this democracy.

What about the energy crisis, the economy, record deficits, ongoing wars, etc. There are far more important things to be discussing and actually DOING something about. But what have we got? Paris and Britney, race cards, and congress going on vacation for a month without passing an energy bill. Our government is pathetic. Maybe we need a total meltdown of the economy and the whole governmental system so we can start fresh.

McCain’s ad speaks the truth and tells volumes about the lack of depth in the DNC presumed nominee. Each of Obama’s events is preceded by a ‘warm-up celebrity’ such as Fergie, or a top local band that will attract young and groupies. When a North Carolina event drew less than 50 people, Obama’s plane suffered a ‘mysterious break-down’ and he landed at the nearest airport, which was 100 miles west of Chicago and in the opposite direction of his NC destination. He probably has his celebrity events lined up for the next few months. I like the message in Obama’s speeches, but these are another’s words-not his- and to date – he has not performed well in debates or town hall meetings to understand the ‘little people’s concerns’ who represent the majority of the US. We need a leader, and McCain is the only candidate qualitifed to lead Day 1.

All I know is that this campaign ad was stupid but McCain is not going to admit that it was stupid.

The McCain crew has nothing on the issues so they fall back on distractions and anti-media spit(Goldwater must be proud). McCain plays the “experience” (read: age) card on all his competition, it works for him, he has NOTHING ELSE!

mary, all politicians/statesmen have to have a little showmen in them. look at reagan. I’ll make up my mind on october 30th. However if this is how the McCain compaign hopes to win, I’ll just vote for Obama.

[[The same man who just months ago promised to run a "respectful campaign," said he is "proud" of his latest attack ad.]] A morally bankrupt human being John McCain is.

Negative campaigning is not cool. It is so 2004! Seriously people in 2004 lost all sense of taste. Maybe it was the meth epidemic or something, I don’t know, but half the country thought 4 more years of Bush was a good idea. The Republican brand is the bad brand that needs to do a recall because it will make you sick. It’s the brand of clothes that you have a suspicion that it was made by 4 year old children for 2 cents a day. This is a time for change. Don’t support the status quo.

Is Obama ready to lead??
Like the majority of voters, I certainly think not.

Poor Britney and Paris—they are both much to talented to be compared to Barack Hussein Obama!

NEWSFLASH: McCain has record turnout! 43 supporters crowded into a Motel 6 room to listen to McCain pay tribute to Lawrence Welk at a Lawrence Welk fan club meeting. Campaign aids said this was the largest turnout of McCains campaign.

Poor Obama! Everybody is always playing the “race card” on him: Bill (the first black President), Hillary, Geraldine Ferraro, Biden, now McCain. He just does not get a fair shake. So don’t question his 20-year associations with Wright, Rezko, Phleger, Ayers, Auchi, or his house purchase, or his “bone-headed” slip ups, or any criticisms of his continually “refining” stances on the issues.
What a joke! Anytime someone criticizes his campaign, it has to be because of racism, or does it? When he is down, he diverts to the racism claim to change the subject and get sympathy. Enough! The media- created “idol” is full of soundbites and empty of substance. Give him another rock star concert where he can give his empty soundbites and avoid talking about his stands on energy independence, taxes, foreign policy, jobs, or any other issue. What did his big European tour accomplish? Nothing!
The ad paints the correct picture of his campaign.

Obama’s whole champaign is for attacking McCain. Now McCain ran a few ads attacking Obama and defending himself. I think this is fair.

There are a lot of Mccain’s sympathizers on this blog. Could one of you explain McCain’s energy policy? How does McCain’s policies in general differ from President Bush. Let’s talk about issues and not engage in lies & distortions. Don’t all of you write at once.

I’m trying to continue distinguishing McCain from Bush but after the last 2 days and McCain’s defense of his latest campaign adds, I’m just shaking my head.
For at least the last 35 years it has been a sad fact that within the Republican party reside the most greedy in our country…and the most racist in our country. I would hope that the Republican party would want to purge itself of most obvious of these types…but these folks are trumpeting the fact that they run the Republican party now. True conservatives, who are neither greedy nor racist, but rather have strong pricipled views, have lost their place in the party.
John McCain, you are losing the support of any serious thinkers. I never thought of you as “petty” before. I believe that McCain now “would rather lose his integrity than lose an election”.

Again, Lets point out that Paris/Britney have 10x more in common with Mc Than Obama. In FACT, THE HILTONS MAX OUT THE AMOUNT TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE Mc CAMPAIGN. Pubs will talk about Anything, but the issues. Secret Muslim? Black Agenda Secret Society Member? Can you Repubs tell me when Mc energy plan will help the Country? How will he lower the Unemployment Level? Instead we get Flag Pin & Hussein …..

Here are some undeniable facts about Obama vs McCain:
Obama graduated with honors from Harvard and the University of Chicago.
McCain graduated at the BOTTOM OF HIS Naval class. Bush graduated at the bottom of his class too. I think we all know what happens when ignorant people get elected…
Obama is favored almost 90% by world leaders vs McCain. If that isn’t a golden opportunity to elect someone to mend international fences, I don’t know what is.
McCain mixes up Sunni and Shiites all the time. He talks about his millitary agenda, but can’t even keep the factions we are fighting with straight.
McCain does not have ANY plan to fix our economy or healthcare system (other than some minor tax credits). That doesn’t work. History has shown this time and time again.

“…..Obama is favored almost 90% by world leaders vs McCain. If that isn’t a golden opportunity to elect someone to mend international fences, I don’t know what is….”
It is ludicrous that American voters should worry about who 90% (your figure??) of Europeans think is the best candidate for us. Can you imagine if one of their candidates for Prime Minister, or President campaigned for their offices in this country? They would look so ridiculous! That probably explains why Obama and his rock star venue in Germany did not get the bump he expected. He could not even visit the American wounded servicemen in Germany. He is so presumptious and full of himself.
Preparation for leadership can come in various ways. Anyone smart enough to get into the U.S. Naval Academy and graduate is worthy of respect. Furthermore, going to Harvard to study law is no guarantee of intellect. Then there is the troubling record of Obama’s experience, or lack of it.
We need someone who has been tried and tested. McCain has the experience, full knowledge of the issues, and has always worked across the aisle to make progress for Americans. He is a straight-talker, not a double-talker.

It’s puzzling why McCain’s ad would give 95% face-time to his opponent. The footage used to show his opponent wasn’t the most inflammatory footage that is available, there is certainly worst footage out there to be seen on the DNC candidate. Looks like the DNC has their folks working full-time on the McCain ads.
