Obama Considering Larger Denver Stage

When Sen. Barack Obama makes history and accepts his party’s presidential nomination in Denver, he may choose to leave the convention arena behind to do so.

Democrats familiar with convention planning tell ABC News that Obama may seek out a bigger venue from which he will deliver his acceptance speech.  The Obama campaign is considering having the Senator deliver his convention speech from Invesco Field’s Mile High Stadium in Denver instead of the Pepsi Center – where the rest of the convention is scheduled to take place.  No official plans have been anounced from the campaign or the Democratic National Committee as of yet.

The Illinois Senator certainly knows how to give a well received speech to a crowd of 20,000 or so inside a basketball/hockey arena such as the Pepsi Center.  In fact, it was such a speech that catapulted Sen. Obama into the national consciousness in 2004 at the Democratic convention in Boston.

But Mile High Stadium, which can hold approximately 76,00 people, may be preferable to the Democratic seeking maximum send-off into the general election.  Sen. Obama, the first African American presidential nominee of a major party in history, is expected to deliver his acceptance speech on Thursday August 28 — the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s "I Have a Dream" speech.

The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place in Denver from August 25 through August 28.

I think by then most people will find it hard to think of any real good reason they should vote for him … since he has flip-flopped on every issue that got him the nomination in the first place.

America used to see two John Kerrys. Now it sees 20 Obamas. The one before he ran; the one when he was elected State Senate; the one when he was elected to Senate; the one when he runs for Democratic nominee; the one after he won. It’s not just the professional issues which he lies; it’s also the personal issues.

There’s always a small group of people that’s afraid to change direction toward a better future. You are one of those people. The good thing is Obama’s going to take you there willing or not so resistance is futile.

I don’t think Obama will need a very big venue at all. Right now, his popularity is dropping with his flip-flops and lies, he’s losing Hillary supporters votes, he recants his positions on NAFTA, FISA, abortion, gun control, campaign finance, etc, etc. America is tired of his lies and his arrogance. I am so glad that the truth about him is finally coming out. I love watching the news everyday to see how much further he is sinking, how his campaign is imploding, and which way he’s going to flip-flop that day. And, whats more, he’s doing all of this to himself. John McCain and the GOP aren’t doing anything but sitting back and enjoying the show. Keep it up Obama…you are realizing you are a liar and America does not want you!

Where in the world do you find this level of hatred for Obama? I am a Democrat but I could never write the hate filled emails and outrageous lies about McCain that you are writing about Obama.
Your hatred goes way beyond politics, way beyond any of the issues and way beyond the individuals involved.
Is it that he is half black? It surely looks like it from where I am standing. Your comments cannot impress any rational voter and will likely alienate many.
Your puffed up chest pounding suggests greater issues are at work and perhaps that your medications need some upgrading.

Is anyone else sick of this childish ‘flip flopping’ nonsense? It is pointless when both candidates have proven themselves willing to change stances (or at least marketing soundbites – the written positions available on their websites have remained pretty solid so far). Judge them on the competence and actual written platform rather than the marketer’s BS. Why is everyone so afraid to spend the time to read up on their actual policy stances (which are NOT illuminated by the spin put out in ads and soundbites).

The answer is simple. These are hateful racist beings venting their racist feelings under the guise of political opposition. In other words they wear their bed linen after they get up and about. Nothing but the worst america has to offer. I oughta know I was once a part of that crowd. I never could figure out why I hated blacks so much. I never lived near them or anything I just hated they for no reason. I guess I was just plain stupid like the rest of the fools against Obama because he’s black.

I dare Obama to openly admit that he has reversed his pledge on Iraq instead of defining it as a “refinement” of his policies. If he is truthful he just may not end up as the nominee. There is plenty of basis for the delegates to switch their votes to Hillary, she’s stuck with the promise to get the troops out in six months.

Heard that the republicans (small r’s) and their RNC are bitterly upset over the possibility that a Pres Obama may change the timetable for bringing the troops back home – within 16 months of assuming office.
Apparently they abhor – and confused – McFlipFlop’s swagger(flip) never to surrender and then guarantee(flop) to bring the troops home by 2013 – no matter what.
Imagine Karl Rove as a closet Obamabot! [And he better stay closeted too!]

Posted by: chokora | July 5, 2008, 2:29 am 2:29 am

the military brass has stated that logistically it is not possible to meet a 16 month scenario for withdrawal. we will likely not see a withdrawl at all. the u.s did not invest in the largest embassy in the world (larger than the vatican) just to walk away-our military presence in the middle east will not end regardless of who we elect. that is a sad reality, very, very, sad.

Posted by: sonia trevino | July 5, 2008, 2:38 am 2:38 am

“I’ve always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed,” said Obama. “And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I’m sure I’ll have more information and will continue to refine my policies.”

WestCoastMessenger:
“I dare Obama to openly admit that he has reversed his pledge on Iraq ..”
Let us assume that you comprehend the meaning of the specific words you use.
Where do you see a “reversal”?
Has Sen Obama said that he will NOT pull out the troops after all?
Sen Obama originally said that he will consult with the troops on the ground to ensure an orderly withdrawal. Has Sen Obama said that now he is for a “disorderly withdrawal”? Where did you read that?
Suppose that it takes us less than 16 months to completely withdraw our troops from Iraq. Will you be upset? Will the soldiers and their families be upset?
You may NOT care for the facts. Even so, if you don’t know what Sen Obama actually said then I refer you to the following link:

When Obama gave his victory speech in Minnesota at the SITE OF THE REPUBLICAN CONVENTION, the place was overflowing with people! The convention center was full, and there were almost as many people outside the center that couldn’t get in!
In the Democratic Convention, the same is expected to happen. The convention center is too small for that – so a bigger place is needed. Take that as you will, Obama has a HUGE following!
No matter what, Obama’s acceptance speech will be history in the making. All major news media will be there, and all of America will be able to watch the historical event! (I have heard Faux News may not be invited, but then, they are a minor player anyway.)
This will be an event to watch! This will be an event to participate in! This will be a new page of history!

Yes he can get a 50 to 70 thousand people and they can chant “Yes, We Can”. No substance needed behind that statement, No need to tell anyone where you really stand, but of course, OBAMA doesn’t know where he stands anyway. Just get the crowd and beat the drums and chant and that will sway the voters of America! OBAMA thinks so little of the people in this nation. Some people are like those animals that all dash off the cliff together in a wild frenzy, but most American’s cherish this country and know how long and how many lives were given in order to achieve what we have. They will do the right thing.

Knowing Obama’s tendency to change his mind, probably he may want to give his speech from his Living Room. Who knows? With Obama, you cannot trust him to stick to any one thought or position. He changes according to his political benefits. That is a change you can count on.

Posted by: jmengate | July 5, 2008, 11:36 am 11:36 am

Roger Miller,
I would rather have a President that can listen to advisors and change his position accordingly. If Bush had actually listened to his advisors telling him there were NO WMD’s in Iraq, we would not be in this illegal and immoral war. Bush said he was the “Decider In Chief”. How has THAT worked out?

Posted by: Jeanne from Michigan | July 5, 2008, 11:40 am 11:40 am

Jeanne from Michigan – You are so spot on. What in the heck do these people think Senator Obama is going to Iraq for? Of course it’s to get more facts and to talk to the people on the ground, something any reasonable person would do. And with more facts he may adjust his position accordingly. Bush plowed on ahead even though the facts were exactly opposite of what he was saying. It’s refreshing to see a leader like Obama who is willing to get more information so that he can make his decisions accordingly.

John McCain was one of only two Republican Senators to vote against the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, no he wants to make them permanant. In 2000 he compared Jerry Falwell on the right to Louis Farakaan on the left, then made a homecoming speec at Liberty U. He said Rowe v Wade should not be overturned and now says the Supreme Court overreached. He said he was going to accept public financing in order to obtain a loan and then backed out. I could go on but….

More cult like every day, Obama and supporters stab fellow Democrats in the back, then they create their own seal, now they need their own place outside of the convention center. I wonder if Obama is starting to realize that Delegates may find it necessary to throw him under the bus, that is rather than forfeit the Presidency to the Republicans. Is Obama getting paranoid? Is this a threat to riot if he is not selected?

It is Sen. Barack Obama’s arrogance, not “audacity” that impels his desire to turn his Democratic nomination acceptance speech into yet another “mega rally”. Eileen From Maine, Obama’s speech on trying to force people into “serving” via government incentives sounds a lot like what they did in the old Soviet Union. In the old Soviet Union there there were a lot of youth service groups and other groups that were dedicated to serving the State. The Soviet Union used these service groups as a means of indoctrinating and coercing people into doing the bidding of the State. Come to think of it, so did Hitler when he implemented a lot of so called youth service groups like the Hitler Youth. I guess in the case of Obama he will be calling his youth service groups the Obama youth. Sounds pretty damn scary to me.

Posted by: mary | July 5, 2008, 1:14 pm 1:14 pm

Eileen from Maine- it will be a good thing to have volunteer jobs since many more people will be out of work when Obama institutes his wealth redistribution plan. When top earners are paying 60% in taxes like they might in California and NY and small businesses go under due to larger increase in taxes, Social Security payment and manadates, they’ll be a large number of people looking for something to do. All those stock market people will be looking since increase the cap gains will take a lot of money out of the market. You many people can now invest overseas were developing countries can have good returns. Wealthy people can move offshore and guess who provides a lot of jobs in this country? The rich who invest in companies and the small businesses. Without them, no jobs.
SO like Iraq Obama is not looking at the consequences of his actions. Change is good if you have a leader with experience. He has NONE. He is probably the most UNQUALIFIED candidate in recent history with no management or leadership experience. It’s like the Democrats went ot an Ivy league campus and interviewed graduates for the job. Next time you have surgery, have the college student do it. You’ll understand what I am saying.

The nore Obama moves to the center the more he sounds like the big liar we all thought he was….he wants to be just like McCain with a little bit of Bush thrown in!! I listed to economist say that one of the reasons why the stock market was bad is because if Obama gets elected with all of his exteme “give away all the money” polices, that we will ALL be taxed so high the country will be worst off than it is right now! They stated that everyone will have to be taxed just to implement all of the programs for the poor that he is intending to do! It’s about time someone told the truth about what it’s going to take to keep it viable for the next generation.Get educated on the issues!

Obama does not want to drill in this country…Bio fuels are creating a havoc on food prices in the entire world and along with the gas crises this country and others are in deep doo and creating “the perfect storm”! If Obama gets elected we will all be in the poor house with no jobs and no food! Welcome to the “hope and change” socialist country!

Read the polls. Doesn’t matter that no democrat “you know” isn’t doing it. Plenty are.
You were probably shocked in 2004 weren’t you? That’s what happens when everyone you know is in group think and you assume the rest of the country feels as you do.

BHO has turned out to be a huge disappointment. He said he was different and everyday we find out he isn’t. Even the New York Times seems disgusted.

Arrogance on display again. Arrogant to his core. Counting his chickens before they are hatched, Obama chooses to be obnoxious. John ought to give his acceptance speech at a town hall and televised nationally. This would be in keeping with Small-Town America and the place mainstream America is found. At least this Hillary Democrat would hope John chooses humility in this way.

Love how Obama’s most dedicated supporters run around the internet accusing anyone who doesn’t agree with the Senator of racism.
But why not…Obama himself fired the first salvo when he preemptively warned his supporters that the race card would be used against him.
Sorry, the majority of Americans don’t care about the candidates race, but his character and integrity. The only one’s obsessed with race in this election are Obama’s most devote supporters.

Justme,
You’re so right about BHO. In one of his latest ads he claims to have passed something and turns out he didn’t even show up for the vote on it!
These are the kinds of things people are finding out and they are turning away. This guy is a fraud and they know it.

sweet sue,
McCain didn’t claim to be “different”…Obama did.
That’s why he’ll lose. He has nothing else but his “I’m different” claim.
When that goes, he goes.

Get it now? Good.

People aren’t that crazy about McCain either. But he does have a record and he does have respect and he does have military hero’s background.
All Obama has is he’s “different.”
Now that we know he’s not different, McCain will win by default because people will go for the guy they know at least has experience.
That’s how it works. Get use to it.

Posted by: Jo | July 5, 2008, 3:10 pm 3:10 pm

Hill Girl – If you really supported Hillary, why would you spitefully sell out everything she believes in and fought for by voting for McCain? That doesn’t make any sense to me. I doubt you’re really a Democrat or a Hillary supporter. I supported Hillary and now I support Obama, because the stakes are too high not to. I doubt you are telling the truth.

Posted by: mike ladd | July 5, 2008, 3:11 pm 3:11 pm

Jo – actually, McCain barely has the respect of his own party. There are alot of conservative Republicans who dislike McCain deeply. After all, he is the GOPs sloppy seconds after Bush… You might want to tone down your triumphalism a little bit – it seems kind of desperate to me.

Posted by: janet delquidice | July 5, 2008, 3:14 pm 3:14 pm

That’s change. Is that what you want?
LOLOL. You Obamabots are hilarious. Can’t wait till you lose in November.

Posted by: lascar | July 5, 2008, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm

It will happen again. People are finding out about the fraud Obama. Even New Yorker magazine says he has a huge Iraq problem because the surge is working.
Ouch. He’s toast.

The funniest blog I’ve seen from an Obama supporter maybe not here was one who said we need to pull out all the troops in 1 day to not have anyone in danger as the numbers go down. Just an example of a well thought out plan by Obama supporters. Not to mention the number of vehicles or helicopters needed to get 130,000 troops to the airport, but it would take over 400 jetliners with 300 soldiers each to leave in 1 day. Then there is all the equipment that would be left behind at how much cost to the taxpayer? Just shows what a person with no experience can come up with, just like Obama, who has no experience for this job.

Posted by: jschmidt | July 5, 2008, 3:28 pm 3:28 pm

Jo – did you miss this key bullet point of the poll?
‘Number of Clinton supporters who plan to defect to McCain is down’
That’s really the key metric here. it’s going to keep trending down as Hillary campaigns for Obama, too.
You may want to hold off on the McCain victory celebration for a little while,
lol

Posted by: Kessie | July 5, 2008, 3:31 pm 3:31 pm

I appreciate your perspective Mad Mike, but you are wrong. I have conversed with many Hillary supporters who are going to either vote McCain or sit the election out because their girl didn’t win. And yes, I am pissed and promise that if O loses this election in a close fight, we will bring down Hillary in 2012.

Reginald – I dont buy it. I don’t understand how anyone who supports Hillary’s policies would be so spiteful and shortsighted as to allow McCain – who stands for everything Hillary is against – to win. It just makes no sense to me. I think as the election gets closer and they begin to see what’s really at stake, they’ll come around and vote for the Democratic nominee – if they don’t, there may not be a Democratic party to vote for in 2012.

Could someone please tell me his position on any issue? He keeps changing them. I had wondered before if he is an opportunist or an idealist. I am beginning to believe that he is an opportunist with not knowing what he believes in. I know with Hillary her big issues were health care, children, women, and family rights. I have no clue with Obama. I think he JUST wants to be president. To me this whole process has just been sad.

Posted by: lois | July 5, 2008, 3:54 pm 3:54 pm

lois – i feel the same way about mccain. he’s flip-flopped on every issue he once believed in. what’s up with that?

Posted by: kimbers | July 5, 2008, 3:56 pm 3:56 pm

Lois: He has a lot of positions on a lot of things. I can’t go into all the particulars here but his Health care agenda is pretty much like Clinton’s only a slight veriation in the way it is done. He is for getting our troops out of Iraq and even though the pundits say he has changed he as NOT. he still wants to get out as “carefully” as we got in “carelessly” He would like to have then all out of Iraq in 16 months but it might take a little long. He needs to know all the facts to make an informed decision. He does believe in strict gun control. You can’t ban guns but you can control ownership. Abortion, he is for womens right to decide but, he does not believe that after 22 weeks a abortion should be made soley due to mental conditions. After all, that should have been somethig that comes up way earlier than 22 weeks. I hope this helps.

Iam4thiscountry, What I am saying is that he doesn’t have issues that he is passion about and will fight for. That is what I like in a candidate. I don’t like when they say what everyone wants to hear and then once they get the nominee then they start changing their position. Just something simple like his flag pin. If he says he doesn’t ‘t need to wear one to be patriot then don’t wear one. But then he starts wearing one. Stick to your principles.

Posted by: lois | July 5, 2008, 4:12 pm 4:12 pm

Damian,
What Obama is not telling us what he will do “for us” Obama is telling us what he will do to us:
Obama: “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK…. That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”
Obama: Will roll back President Bush’s tax cuts and increase all taxes across the board, including income taxes, payroll taxes, corporate taxes and dividend taxes.
Obama: Will implement failed government programs such as the one program that turned a Chicago Grove Parc Plaza neighborhood into a rat infested slum. By the way these are among the government programs that Obama touts as an accomplishment in his Chicaco days as a community activist and State Senator that funneled so much money to his buddy Rezco.
Obama: Believes that the top down dead hand approach of government telling everyone what to do and how to live is the answer to solving all the so called problems of the US. And just what problems does Obama think government is the answer to?
Global Warming? Oh yes Obama can stop China, India and the rest of the third world from developing, building their coal run power plants and drilling for oil off of our shore, while he tells the people in the US you can’t drill for more oil, you can’t build new refineries and nuclear power plants, no no no, it is a good thing gas prices are so high so all you poor people are forced out of their cars and onto bicycles or rapid transit.
Some Messiah, Obama wants a lower standard of living for all and more government control over our lives while he sits on his high horse telling everyone whats wrong with America and how to live our lives.

At least not one that you would vote for. He won’t tell anyone what that really is. However his friends will just watch and find out how they think. Scary how you will support nothing and call it new.

Seems to me that both parties enjoy putting on an expensive show…let us not forget that the majority who will be reaping the benefits will be the politicians. How I would love to have an all expense paid mini vacation myself.
The larger stadium isn’t about letting more people take part in democracy, it is about putting on show. With the press finally toughening up on Obama, he needs to put on the glitz and glamor just to keep his base.

Having to fight two wars and rebuild after Katrina .And to fight with rabid liberals who are like spoiled kids who are throwing tantrums. It don’t help that liberals have sabotaged every move Bush does to make their point. relevance doesn’t count for liberal thinking. Everything becomes Bush’s fault just because a LIb says so.

I am truly flabergasted by the word “flip-flopping”. We have had a proud non-flip-flopper in the white house for the painful 7 and a half years. Look what it did to the nation and to the entire world. It is more important for leaders to be able to refine policies as long as it is based solidly on the firm principles. Senator Obama’s principles on the Iraq war that started out with a total lie has been absoltutely solid. He, however, is willing to correct courses as new information gets available. This is why he is a far better leader than the current White House occupant. So please refrain using the word flip-flop.

Caterers and vendors are fed up with the Convention Committee and Obama too – wondering who’s going to pay for all this excess.
And to think the Democrats thought they’d be able to win over Colorado this November. Dream on!

Yet it is the other way around. the republican party has been the movers. The libs have been the Taxers and destroying of rights in this country. jschmidt – I understand your points – I do not argue that the oil is there or that it can be recovered – the point is – who says that Americans are going to be the consumers? The oil companies are going to sell their product to the highest bidder. Countries like China and India can pay those prices – after all – China already has a credit card in the name of future generations of our children. They can pay the price the oil companies demand. China is as in desperate need of oil and its products as we are – and they have the larger pocket book.

Just a side note – African-American is a ‘label’ used by the census bureau as well as on the forms one fills out when applying for a job – like Hispanic/Latino/, Caucasian, Asian, Native American, Alaskan Native, etc.

eyes wide open – and your point is? Sounds like gibberish – just what point are you trying to make?

Posted by: sandy in NM | July 5, 2008, 9:15 pm 9:15 pm

Sandy, I have never seen an application with French American etc on any forms…not even where I work…large legal firm..the ones you noted are for bureau satistics, yes, but for affirmative action because large companies NEED to offer employment to certain ethnic groups or else you leave yourself open to a lawsuit for DISCRIMINATION…SOUND FAMILIAR?

Hillary is not going to make it..she jumped the fence and she is on the other side…I will not vote for Obama even is she is on the ticket…she threw her supporters under the bus just like Obama threw everybody under the bus and lied like a trooper to every audience to please them…he is a liar a loser! At least I know where McCain stands…with Obama you never know where he stands…depends on the audience he’s playing to!! Changes his statements from day to day…what a nobody!!

Well Chattycat, you certainly are so like a chatty magpie, not saying anything save loving its own voice.
And I know anything I or others say will not change your hatred. Therefore you’ll just have to wait till he’s President to find that you’re wrong. But then, like a true Republican, you’ll never admit it; but instead most likely find another unfounded line of vitrol to entertain us with.
But then you’re not accused of being an intellectual. That, to your group, is a detractor and is to be hurled as an insult. So I won’t disturb your doltish ways with anything so mundane as your education.

I really hope people start figuring out they are being sold a bill of fake goods with Obama…why else would we have to be told it is about ‘Change’ before we even know that his policies are? BTW: I really wonder if he’s got the foreign policy and economic expertise to get us out of the mess we are in…

serious question what makes you dislike obama and mccain?

Well lets see not Obama or McCain. I might just write in Hillary. At least in my mind I will have voted and voted for the best person for the job, even if it doesn’t count. She has her faults but I think she would do a better job than these two.

Posted by: J | July 6, 2008, 12:42 am 12:42 am

Melissa,
Her and McCain have worked together in the Senate and are friendly. They have traveled together overseas on .I think she respects him but politics are politics.
I don’t agree with all she did but out of the three of them I think she would do the best job. One thing I like about her, she is a fighter, if she wasn’t she wouldn’t be where she is. She has withstood a lot over the years.

Posted by: J | July 6, 2008, 1:07 am 1:07 am

j,
i think she had to be strong to bail her husband out of all the messes he got them into i have to giver her that credit on that, but its funny that you said that because i thought that was one of her downfalls.. you know she was always swinging at everything.. although i have to agree that in politics some one is always waiting for you to leave your gaurd down so they can nail you..
but she worked with obama too…
i mean dont get me wrong i would have voted for her had she been the nominee but i guess she just rubbed me wrong and i couldnt figure her out. and total honesty her bloggers annoyed the shyt out of me because they would say they hated obama for reasons that they should also hate hillary for it made no sense to me.. i actually liked what i read about her from way back before the million make overs they made her do. go figure i dont know? and i wish she would have gotten rid of bill he bugs me too…

I really feel sorry for those of you that are so passionately displaying your misgivings of Obama. When I read it it sounds so cynical and it’s tone spiteful. I don’t want to label those as being racist, but I challenge you to look inward and see what’s there. I know I’ve experienced growing hostility since his candidacy from white people as I work with the public and have an opportunity to track this. It’s very subtle, but real. I just want to raise consciousness here with the hopes of people really looking at this for themselves.

Posted by: Reginald | July 6, 2008, 2:09 am 2:09 am

Reginald: you cannot not get thru to some of these people. I have tried and Sandy has tried and several others. The problem is that they don’t want to believe in HOPE they are afraid of CHANGE. They would rather spout half truths and outrite lies with out checking all the facts. I feel really sorry for them as they are unaware that they are being taken for a ride

What a megalomaniac! He believes in his own greatness…
Obama has turned his back on his supporters, the Hillary supporters don’t want him…and he doesn’t care…He figures we have to vote for him “regardless” of what he says or does; he’s a democrat…
Anything else we would be throwing our vote away…which isn’t true.
A vote isn’t like playing Las Vegas, you must pick the winner.
A vote is an individual’s voice of support or dissent of a candidate.
We are not obligated to vote for any particular group or person.
The DNC are adamant we must ALL fall in line, they are INCORRECT. They are not in the position to give orders to the people who employ them. They have been in their positions too long, they forget their place…(vote the bums out!)
There are other people running for the job of President, do some reserch people check out the other candidates…

Posted by: pahqlle | July 6, 2008, 4:23 am 4:23 am

pahqlle: Noone is stopping you for voting who you think is the best candidate. That is your born rite in this country. And I applaud you for checking out all the candidates. That is how an informed voter votes. What I don’t like are the people who instead of saying why they are voting for so and so will instead spew hatred and misinformation against one candidate to get people not to vote for them. Trying to spread fear and lies about someone is definately not an honorable way to win an election. And Hopefully, this time arround, more of us will be smarter.

Posted by: Iam4thiscountry | July 6, 2008, 4:43 am 4:43 am

Why is it that the media is so intent on shoving Obama down our throats? He is only a man people! And not an experience one in goverment or world issues. I fail to understand the media’s romance with him when they eat alive all others.

Why do folks call Obama black? If he’s 1/2 black and 1/2 white, then isn’t he as much white as he is black? I don’t get it. I could just as well call him white. I wish people would jst stick to the issues instead of the politics of personal destruction.

Posted by: John Berbin | July 6, 2008, 10:43 am 10:43 am

It looks like there are 2 things going on here. People are either voting for fear or hope. That’s the choice. Are you afraid? Then trust your creator. Do you have hope? Then thank God for it. Vote for what’s best for our nation. One nation under God, with liberty and justice for all, as all true Americans will.

Is it true:if you use
THE WRITE-IN HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT
your vote goes to Obama????????
end quote.
THE VOTE WILL NOT BE COUNTED. THEY ONLY COUNT VOTES IF THE CANDIDATE REGISTERS IN THE STATE TO HAVE THE VOTES COUNTED. HILLARY CAN NOT REGISTER A WRITE IN CAMPAIGN SO THE VOTE IS NOT COUNTED.
I WILL VOTE MCCAIN AS THE ONLY GOOD WAY TO SUPPORT HILLARY.

Quote….I have conversed with many Hillary supporters who are going to either vote McCain or sit the election out because their girl didn’t win. And yes, I am ###### and promise that if O loses this election in a close fight, we will bring down Hillary in 2012……
I’m a Hillary support who will vote for McCain this fall, not because I’m bitter that “my girl didn’t win” but because I consider Obama the least qualified of the candiates still running. Okay…maybe not Nader but…

Posted by: Charlie35 | July 6, 2008, 11:45 am 11:45 am

If you write in Hillary, it will count as a vote for Hillary….but why “waste” your vote? All here want to talk about experience, especially you HRO supporters. What experience does she have? She carpet-bagged her way into the Senate. Prior to that, she had NO EXPERIENCE, if you want to give her points for being first lady, your nuts. That would be akin to saying I have piloting experience because my wife is a pilot.
The question of Obama being an “African American” or not, is also silly. By now this country should be past that. Obama is a man with a vision. With a little cooperation, after he is elected, he should do great things for the country.
Social Security is broke becuse of the BUSHES, both of them. Dad tought son how to raid that money. Those making over $100,000/yr should have to pay more into it, they will also collect. We need to get someone into the office of President that offers us something different, not nessesarily Obama…But he is getting my vote. As far as the stadium issue is concerned…I will be at the convention and, I know, that the Pepsi Center will not offer Obama the space to reach out to the most. As far as the date of his speech is concerned, do you reallyh think that he decided that day, no, that is scheduled by the DNC, and was decisded way before we knew which candidate was going to be the candidate. The location was also already decided. But, if Obama wants to go to a bigger venue, that’s up to him…the only part I really have interest in as far as that is concerned is….who is paying for it? The additional security costs alone will be tremendous.

Posted by: Dave_in_Denver | July 6, 2008, 12:47 pm 12:47 pm

I’m not saying that Obama is going to be perfect when he gets into the white house, but couln’t be worse than president Bush and the 9/11 incident. I believe that when Obama gets into the white house, he’s going to influence people-especially african/americans-,for the good. I feel that some caucasian people would do terrible things to him because he is of african/american descent. I also believe that some caucasians fear Obama because he may be the person to promote freedom, justice, and equality for All people, and that would be an embarrassment for some caucasian people who failed to do that.

Change starts with a clean slate and break from the current party in power, republicans. Only then will any change be forthcoming. McCain is so wedded to Bush no impartial review of his positions indicate a change from Bush. So McCain is the same as Bush otherwise.

GOP- and the subprime mess goes back to 1976 when a Democartic congress forced the evil banks to give shaky loans in areas where people normally would not qualify. In 1995 under Clinton, those loans were securitized and allowed to be traded as instruments. In September of last year, the Democratic congress said student loan lenders were making too much money and passed a law to reduce the interest rates on Federal loans. When the credit crunch hit, the lenders said they could not make enough on the federal student loans to make a profit for the risk, so they dropped out of the program. Congress recently passed a rule to force the Dept of Education ( the govt) to finance these loans. In both cases the Democrats thought to regulate to punishes business. In both cases they caused the mess. When you mess with free markets, you’ll get burned every time. Obama will do worse.
Regulation and subsidies will always fail.

Elizabeth and GOP- I am just a person presenting the facts. You don’t want to listen to common sense, then vote Obama. I have never resorted to name calling. I’ve presented evidence that you don;t seem to want to read. I do my research. Obama supporters seem to resort to name calling when they can’t make an argument in favor of their leader.
Obama is the least qualified candidate we have for President in recent memory.

18M voters still have heartburn over the trashing of Clinton by media AND the DNC. We will not forgive, and we will not forget! These DC twits made the fatal mistake of FORGETTING that the VOTERS choose the nominee, not them! As for oBama, he is a blatant opportunist with a troubled childhood wherein he was abandoned by both parents and his floundering on positions reveals serious character flaws! As for the “bigger” stadium, sounds like a typical Leo’s flair for the dramatic at the expense of substance! “Little man” syndrome, case closed!

He’s moved on to other topics like gun rights – or limited gun rights – abortion – he prefers his kids to have an abortion over being PUNISHED with a baby – do you believe this guy.

As a life long Democrat, I abhor Republicans and all that they stand for. However, I cannot bring myself to vote for Barak Obama. He is everything I loath in a politician or a person. He is arrogant, self-absorbed and has an unbelievable sense of entitlement for one with no experience or real accomplishments in his 46 years. He is also superficial, two-faced and deceitful – everything he does is to win the election. Yes, every politician has these traits but most don’t spend all their time selling themselves as paragons of virtue. He also is mentally lazy with only vague ideas and lofty rhetoric instead of concrete plans for “changing” our country’s direction.
It amazes me that the American public could be sold George Bush for 8 years and now is being sold a Black, liberal version of the same type of “flim flam” man. How stupid and gullible are they?!!

One of them will be president. So who are you voting for McCain? Everyone know McCain is a older version of Bush.

Posted by: questioner | July 7, 2008, 2:30 pm 2:30 pm

Questioner- If you did your research you’d fine McCain has disagreed with Bush on many things over the years. Especially how the Iraq war was conducted. His agreement now on the Bush tax cuts is because you don’t not raise taxes when the economy is slow. That is the worst thing that you can do. Also a person over many years can change their minds but a person who flips on an idea in 6 months to a year is a flipper and is changing to win votes like Obama.
Jade- Know you know how Republicans felt everytime we heard people say after 2000 that Bush stole the election. Of course you didn;t get over it and you kept on with complaining even though Bush won according to the Constitution. Well now I hope HC supporters keep bringing up how Obama stole the primary, just to annoy you.
