For Obama the “on the job training” has begun. Obama has never once traveled to Afghanistan. He has traveled to Iraq, I believe once about 2 years ago. He has NOW decided to return to Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, and who knows where else for the “media” coverage. As some have been sure to point out, exercise has been proven to relieve/reduce stress. As to Obama’s smoking habits, I cannot attest, but it seems to me that three trips to the gym in one day is a bit excessive (there is such a thing as overdoing it). Furthermore, there exist multiple reasons for working out. Not everyone goes to gain substantial muscle mass; many are more interested in cardiovascular activities and toning what muscle they currently have. Often this practice leads to the decrease in body fat, and, thusly, resulting in a slimmer (smaller) body. As to the purpose of this article, I can only extrapolate (always dangerous) that this is an attempt to draw out the already played-out distinction between Obama and McCain as to their physical readiness. The human body changes as one grows older. What is fit for a 20-year-old is not the same as for a 50-year-old, and certainly not what considered fit for an 80-year-old. The idea of the commander-in-chief is not that he/she be fit enough to serve on the front-lines, but rather that he/she be capable of making informed decisions based on intelligence and recommendations by pointed officials (each supposedly an expert in his/her own field). As for the notion that McCain takes the weekends off, and that George W. Bush has taken the most vacations out of any US President, it is not to say that all official business is halted and that they go home and watch TV with their respective families or concentrate on a hobby; problems are still solved; the job continues on.
On another note, what never ceases to amaze me is the number of close-minded, uninformed people that post regardless of ideology. Not all liberals are socialists, not all conservatives are neo-cons, not all Republicans are conservatives, and not all Democrats are liberals. After all, where do libertarians fit in? Even libertarians cannot all agree. This nation is built on the foundation that all walks of life are welcome (legally, that is). Each person has the right to say whatever it is he/she feels, but bigotry and name-calling have no place in rational discussion.
My reasons for not voting for Obama are my own. I personally believe him to be weak on national security, and I object to any furthering of the powers of the government in domestic affairs. The federal government should exist to defend this nation and its interests abroad, to guarantee individual rights and liberties to all citizens of this land, and to settle disputes between the states.

The Denver Post today had two stories today: One about Michelle Obmama’s relationship with her daughters and another story about the meeting with Iran’s foreign minister that signals a big shift in administration policy. Guess which one was on the front page?

Why is this news? This is no way makes him any more or less qualified to be president. This is just another example of the liberal media giving unnessecary coverage of obama.

As an undecided voter, I must say that the comments of Obama’s supporters does not inspire confidence in their choice. He talks of “change” and his supporters engage in the same mudslinging of the Clintonians.
Obama’s supporters talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk. How about raising the bar of the discourse? If the observations of Obama’s detractors are so untrue, why even bother responding if you are so confident in your guy?

O.K., you mental midgets, he didn’t go the gym “six times a day.” He went to the gym three times, and the reporter said he “strolled in and out of gyms” six times – three times in, three times out. Get it? The reporter sought to exaggerate a point, if you ask me.
For another thing, this period before the convention is the last chance Obama’s going to get to do anything remotely close to catching his breath before the death march to the election. When he gets such opportunities, Obama shoots hoops, Bush II clears brush, Reagan chopped wood, Bush I rode around in motorboats. What of it? Personally, I practice my tennis serve. If it helps work off stress and focus their minds, fine.
And at a time when two out of three Americans are either obese or overweight, why isn’t working out in a gym a good thing?

Who do they think they are fooling? 3 trips to the gym and over 3 hours of working out? First…he is bone thin, not a weight lifter. He may run, play basketball, but the is DEFINITELY not a gym rat. Second, only athletes and the obsessive spend that much time working out. Third, 3 hours in the gym only show how out of touch he is with the common man…most of us have to work for a living, kids to take care of, and a life to live. My guess is this is a lie and/or is PROPAGANDA poorly done. 188 minutes in the gym only detracts from his credibility with any thinking person.

So this is actually newsworthy? I think not; seems like the ABC has forgotten how to report actual “news”. Can’t help but wonder if the ABC News’ Sunlen Miller spent a bit more time in the gym instead of writing crap like this we may actually get better coverage of what’s really going on!
The only thing I would query after reading this story is why Obama would be spending up to 3 hours in a gym when he’s already a busy man away from his family so often – why not put aside more time for them, that would certainly impress me a heck of a lot more that a slam dunk or a six pack!

I want a president who is able to use his mind to protect our country. If I wanted a buff Rambo, I’d vote for “Rambo” the mythical hero. But the presidency demands a lot more than just a fit body.
