Oh, Yeah…Give to Hillary
ABC News’ John Berman and Sunlen Miller report: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., asked supporters to give money to Hillary Clinton … barely. It was supposed to be a moment for Obama to soothe some of the tension that still exists between the two camps. It was supposed to be a chance for Obama to solicit donations to help retire Clinton’s campaign debt, that could total $30 million. It was supposed to be all that. The only problem is, he almost forgot.
He delivered a 32-minute speech to the crowd of 1,000 people at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City, and began walking off the stage to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered.” After 32 minutes he had still not asked for money. In the back of the ballroom, reporters rushed campaign aides, asking if there had been a change in plans. Why no pitch for Hillary?
And then, it happened. Obama seemed to realize he was about to fuel the feud-fire by his forgetfulness, and quickly rushed back on stage, saying, “Hold on a second guys, I was getting all carried away!” And then, the pitch: “Sen. Clinton still has some debt. And I could have had some debt if I hadn’t won, so I know the drill. There are many supporters of mine here who have not yet given something to help her retire that debt.”
In fact, estimates are that the Obama camp has only raised about $100,000 to help Clinton so far. So, Obama asked people to look under their chairs for an envelope, “pick it up and put something in it.”
He added, “it’s something that is very important to us, and obviously, Sen. Clinton would be grateful as well.”
Earlier in the speech, Obama noted it had been a long 16-month primary campaign, long enough for babies to be born, and learn to walk and talk. But, he promised, now there will be unity. “Sen. Clinton and I agree on 98.9 percent of the issues -– what I fight for, she fights for, what I believe in, she believes in.”
Of Clinton, he added, “she is smart, she is tough. And she wore me out.” Perhaps the fatigue was affecting his memory.

Come on, you can’t make me believe that it was a simple over-sight on Obama’s part not to mention the reason for the big meeting in New York in front of his supporters. If he was this forgetful, he certainly does not deserve to be the nominee, does he? He is a dud.
This is one Hillary supporter voting for McCain, not the socialist Obama. Obama is not a uniter and never will be.

You neglected to mention the envelopes that obama’s supporters found under their seats had a donation flyer inside with a ‘Hillary for President’ Logo.
Out of everything in your article you missed (ignored), the key item.
THAT FLYER THAT HILLARY HAD HER STAFF PUT OUT WAS EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL AND TACKY.

No wonder Hillary money bundlers aren’t eager to donate to Obama. I am sure abc is making this more dramatic than it is, but geez Obama he really is beleiving his own hype. He feels he dosen’t need Hillary or her supporters He politically slaps her in the face every chance he gets hiring some she fired and now this. Obama said he could have been on the losing end and that is true. There would have been a major difference though. Obama never spent more in any given month than what was donated to him.
He was and is very respectful and responsible with his campaign funds.
So part of him must be wondering how this woman thought she was capable of running a country, when she can’t even manage her own finances.
And then wants the taxpayers to bail her out!

I want to thank those who voted as well as Ted Kennedy. Why does Obama need to help her out if she has 18 million supporters – why don’t her supporters each kick in $2 and eliminate the full debt for her? Sen.Hillary Clinton voted NO on the FISA bill today.
For those of you who had a wonderment there about “Hillary for President” on the envelope.. please note that that is the name of the Financial Account on which she campaigned and the account into which all expenses have accumulated where the debt sits. So, that is the account which is doing the fundraising. You can expect that will be the name on every fundraising form associated with the Primary.
I am not pleased with
(a) Sen.Obama’s vote on FISA. I was still holding a hope that he will vote NO. He voted YES. Who was he trying to please?
(b) Sen. Obama’s deplorable treatment and put down as see in the above summary. It is an after-thought. It is to “put something.” It is a “drill” as in command performance and a total sham of an request if that.
Obama just earned another whole slew of PUMAs.

Angie,
Are you with the DISENFRANCISMENT COMMITTEE of the Obama campaign, or are the beams not quite firing across the corpus callosum? Isn’t that line of disenfranchisement, the one where the zombies claim that only the intelligent support Obama a bit on the arrogant side. I thought Obama was attempting to distance himself from the ARROGANT position, and yet the zombies are trying to keep him there. Beats all.

Hillary voted NO on FISA today. I just read her full statement. She has BOTH voted as promised and given a full statement completely consistent with her campaign trail speech.
Words matter.
Words matter greatly when they go to the heart of a person’s LEADERSHIP: INTEGRITY + CREDIBILITY.
Words followed through is what speak to a person’s INTEGRITY and give the person CREDIBILITY.
If a person does not follow through on their words, would you trust them with something your own? I would not.
I was a BHO supporter in November 2006. In fact, I argued the entire Thanksgiving dinner evening with a GOP party leader. I stand fully informed and corrected. NEVER BHO.
Today he PROVED that BHO has proved that cannot be trusted.

Faux Democrats..I mean PUMAs, the primary has been over for over a month now, it’s really time to get a grip.
Spewing falsehoods about Obama and claiming you’re going to vote for McCain just to spite Obama is really bassakwards.
It shows that you care nothing about the state of affairs the country is in and only your selfish interests!! If Clinton and her surrogates have thrown their support behind Obama, then either stand with Clinton or change your party to Republican for good!!
And while you’re at it, why don’t you guys go over to the Fox “News” website, I’m sure they’ll welcome you with open arms over there. That’s where all the Republicans blog.

For all those put downs about PUMA.
I hold 4 degrees and have a 3.98 gpa.
And I am a voter. I will influence others.
Country first.
Today, I am concerned about:
1- FISA AND LOSS OF PRIVACY
2- DEMOCRACY AND LOSS OF 1 PERSON, 1 VOTE
3- GLOBAL SECURITY AND THE ROLE OF IRAN AND ITS MISSILE AND NOW NUCLEAR PROGRAM.
I read a thousand articles to one post.
Dont put down PUMAs.
You are not gaining any friends for BHO.
PUMAs did not happen all on the same day. New PUMAs are signing up each day. These are the ordinary well informed voters who want to ensure that the Presidency belongs to the Credible person.
By the way, Cindy McCain earned a lot of points in my book with her work on Operation Smile. Very nice person. I think she will make a great First Lady.
Good night.

Bill and Hillary have $100 Million that they got from the Chinese, big corporations and the Arabs for “speaking engagements” and the like…
Sorry Barack I am 100% behind you, but why should I give money to your “former” opponent? That continued to spend money like water while bashing you well past the time when she knew it was over for her lying Sniper Fire A**!

Thank you for following through on your words on FISA and joint fundraising.
From what I read in the above, perhaps the level of cooperation from you is not being respected. I would fold and focus elsewhere. Let him go down on his own.

********************************************Yes, I thought it was very smart of McCain’s campaign manager to suggest she go to where?, yes, Vietnam (less anybody forget that John was there once). She had some lovely photo ops.
I’m sure she is a charming lady, but i’m afraid that the ‘lifestyle’ that she and John have had for the last 20 years would not work in the White House.

Some Obama supporters are so out of it. Hillary’s money bundlers have donated the max to her campaign otherwise she would be out of debt these are not poor people. People seem to forgive Obama anything, changing opinons on gun control, lyinging about his family(umm what concentration camp did his uncle help liberate?hmm) Obama has no problem usining that side of his family to show his patriotism, yet he can call his grandma a typical white person.(wheres the outrage I know there would be if bill or hillary called someone a typical black person) has no problem using his beautiful children for poltiical gain either. Only a little while ago Obama was claiming that iran was some tiny country who didnt pose a big threat. He said Iran only spends 1/100 of what we do on our military. Now that they have test fired missles he goes oh they are a grave danger. Hillary money bundlers hold on to your checks obama doesn’t respect your candidate of choice and thinks hes above you any way. People on here need to realize that Obama didnt ask his supporters who sent him 5/10$ to pay off hillary’d debt He was talking to rich people. You don’t get something for nothing Hillary’s supporters and money bundlers will not go out of their way for Obama when he tells them to get over it(those were his words)and then does as little as possible to help her out. Like I said Bill and Hillary forget Obama let him float on his own.

Eileen, please Obama has pushed so many people under the bus so far its not even funny(grandma, pastors, moveon.org, wesley clark, etc). Hillary would have made him vp I firmly beleive that, but the Senator who spent 4 years in the us sentate( about 2 of those running for president) even though he said he would not run decided that he would run. This man does not like competition that is why he fought alice plamers petition to get on the ballot in the state senate in chicago he was the only one on the ballot , and it was why he pressured superdelegates and the DNC to get Hillary out of the picture since FEB. Its funny the RNC didnt put as much heat on Ron Paul to drop out and he suspended his campaign a week after Hillary, gues the RNC have more respect for their candidates than the DNC. All the people saying pumas are republican operatives, or just old uneducated racist white people are wrong. I am a 33 year old african american female and until Obama can convience me he had the guts to stand behind his words I am staying home. This man doesnt even want to debate(and umm sorry deabate on July 4th wont do) I dont want to hear another one of his prepared speeches read from a telepromter. I want a debate between him and McCain. For all the people saying McCain is too old Obama sound worse than McCain when his is not reading a speech I lose track of all the umms and the errhhhs the man says when he has to answer questions that he didnt know were gonna be asked.

The DNC is not going to appease Faux Democrats at the Democratic Convention. The Democratic Convention is where REAL Democrats congregate to embrace the Democratic presidential nominee. The superdelegates are not going to retract their pledges to Obama just to satisfy a couple of whacko groups out there who are still dreaming that Clinton will become the nominee.

Some of us PUMA’s supported Obama up through his nomination. Since then, we have heard him tell us:
1- He’ll give more money to religious organizations.
2- Might re-think when to withdraw from Iraq
3- Voted for secret courts to authorize spying on American citizens.
4- Saber rattling over Iran.
Give me politicians like Kennedy, Byrd and Specter. people who stand for something.

Something doesn’t add up here. If Clinton had 18 million people vote for her they should each donate a few bucks and pay off her debt. As an Obama supporter I would rather have my money go to fight McCain this November. With all the money the RNC has, we need to concentrate on the real goal, a Dem in the White House.

I just can’t figure that out from your inane and foolish posts who you support. So why don’t you tell us about your candidate.
So tell us who are you for, we all know your dumbass is against obama.

Even his friends like Jesse Jackson are now questioning Obama’s positions and judgment. Thar proves that voters are beginning to see the light or maybe I should say, see Senator Obama’s true colors. He keeps changing positions on key issues after being on the radical left for so long, even his core supporters are questioning his intergity, judgment and experience.
PUMA makes sense, OBAMA does not.

This was a big win for Obama. Jessie jackson? Rebuffing Obama? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!
What a dumbass you are. This Jessie Jackson split with Obama is the perfect storm against you McBush idiots!
It shows without a doubt the “green light” to most Americans to vote for Obama. He really isn’t a “black racist” like you fools that post on her want to believe and say…
Now we all see that there is “no secret plan” for Barack and “Jessie Jackson” to take over the Us and the world!

Davis ABCnews should block you for using nasty language. Show some class even if you only have a little bit. Since Hillary has SUSPENDED, read well, SUSPENDED, i don’t know who i will be voting for if she is not on the ticket comes November. Hey if Obama does another 180 degree turn around on issues maybe i’ll consider him, but now he’s looking dead on arrival on my list of choices. Hey Davis, thanks for telling me you gave Obama 100 dollars. Should i clap for you?
Posted by: NoToObama | July 10, 2008, 2:31 am 2:31 am
Obama should not be blackmailed into putting anyone on the ticket. For those who insist that Obama should put someone on the ticket, let me remind you that your continued acts such as those expressed in the commentaries will do nothing but ensure that McCain become the next Republican President. Perhaps you’d want another four years of McBush.

Obama disrespects the obligations he has to the Dems. Winners are suppose to help the one’s in debt after a primary run, but the Obama camp wiggles every way they can to neglect their obligations. Sure, they gather a lot of money. But for every promise Obama breaks, he has to pay commercials in the millions to repair damage. What good are money and sex-appeal if voters trust is lost.
Dems should unit behind Clinton, she respects traditions, stick to message and will know what to do in Iraq, on the economy and all the other issues were Obama has a sale for lobbyist and whoever pays the bills.
Somebody needs to tell Obama in elections money is not all. You actually have to show up on some debates too.

All the issues the liberals pounded Hillary for, and now, Obama is taking the conservative stands. And for the record, Hillary voted against the recent FISA bill. You far left idiots have been USED. I hope you are happy with the results. Going with this guy you don’t know over someone with a proven record. Well, you reap what you sow.

There are more than a couple of problems with Obama, but the two biggies are his huge ego and his slick deception. All through the campaign, he has been letting folks know how little he cares about her or her debt and he hasn’t changed one bit, i.e., the plane re-route in the opposite direction of Charlotte – seems a clever ploy, letting folks know they don’t sit together in-transit, and needing reminded to ask for donations for Hillary and so far raising a paltry $100k while she has been campaigning for him and the DNC.

What’s wrong with this picture? HC ran up this debt while it was mathematically impossible to win. Now she wants to be bailed out and blames Obama for not helping? Hmmn – $25 million divided by 18 million who voted for her comes out to $1.39. Where’s the beef?
Posted by: Don | July 10, 2008, 9:26 am 9:26 am
When Hillary Clinton continued to campaign and trash Obama long after it was evident she wasn’t going to win, running up debts the whole time, it’s no wonder Obama supporters are reluctant to bail her out. Besides, all Obama can do is ask people to support her; if they don’t want to, there’s nothing he can do about it. There have been many loser bail-outs in the past but this was a particularly long, divisive and bitter campaign and Hillary’s supporters are still very bitter toward Obama. Why would Obama supporters feel charitable toward them?

Senator Obama is only human – and if we expect him to be superhuman – then that’s asking too much. I get tired of cynical people saying – Isn’t he supposed to be the savior? The thing is, he’s an ordinary guy, who is traveling back and forth across the country, day in and day out, hardly getting enough sleep. Yes, Senator Obama is an accomplished and admirable man, but he is not a superhuman figure. He’s just like you and me. Let’s move on.

N THE MEDIA – Some of Clinton’s fund raisers are pressuring the Obama campaign to support her policy positions — and help pay off her campaign debt.
MY HUMBLE OPINION – 50 percent of Obama donors have contributed 200 dollars or less. Many in the 5 – 10 dollar range. We don’t want to give money Mark Penn! I hope she understands this. Food and Gas prices are going up with no relief in site. Also She still hasn’t taken on the Republican Attack Machine to undo the damage she did to the Democrat Party. Can she do this before the convention? Before the Olympics before everyone tunes out of politics. If she doesn’t then what kind of message is she sending the Democrats? Is she waiting for a show stealing speech at the convention?
IN THE MEDIA – Businesswoman Lynn Forester de Rothschild launched a Web site bringing Clinton supporters together to put the pressure on Obama.
“We are being asked to embrace party unity without the fair representation of Hillary Clinton and her 18 million voters,” she says on her Web site. “Party unity requires bilateral action. We ask Barack Obama and the [Democratic National Committee] to respond.” Businesswoman Lynn Forester
MY HUMBLE OPINION – A poll was done in California after Hillary threw everything at Obama from the kitchen sink to 3AM ad. If the election were held then she would have lost California. Yet she still claims that everyone still supports her?
IN THE MEDIA – Hillary Clinton has reconstituted her political action committee — another sign that she plans to remain a political force for years to come.
MY HUMBLE OPINION – Sounds like anther run in 2012 or 2016?
IN THE MEDIA – Some Hillary Donors what titles, credit for contributing and private time with Obama!
MY HUMBLE OPINION – We can understand this. Perhaps they will feel better after this week. For those that don’t I’m sure that everyone can come up with titles for them. Perhaps a meeting with Obama would help with pictures for their local papers and for the family scrape book? Perhaps the names on the Obama web site with titles of course. Lot of us on the other end of the scale are just satisfied being a part of history and ending the McCain/Bush/Cheney/Rove nightmare?
We will see how this plays out this week with Obama and Hillary. Well at least they are getting together.

Every other American has to sacrifice and make ends meet, and I don’t know why they should be the exception. She lost the nomination and now she has to pay! With all the Hillary supporters griping about how Barack isn’t helping her pay off her debt; I have to ask: Why should he? Why in the world would someone who couldn’t manage her own finances expect the winner to foot her bill. That’s Bull$hit, plain & simple. I, along with many other posters here simply refuse to donate a cent to Hillary. As has been posted earlier, let Hillary’s die-hard cult followers pay her bill. And to think back on all the crap Hillary threw at Obama, about how inexperienced he is, yet, she can’t even run a campaign. Now who’s inexperienced??
Obama and his supporters SHOULD NOT donate another penny to Hillary, and Obama SHOULD NOT offer her the VP position. She doesn’t deserve it and she sure hasn’t earned it.
What has Hillary & Bill Clinton done for Obama (other than donate $2300 each, which Obama & Michelle donated to Hillary’s debt). HILLARY HAS NOT AND CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT HER SUPPORTERS WILL VOTE FOR OBAMA – SHE’S NOT THAT INFLUENTIAL!!

If I didnt vote for Obama I would be staying home. I think if DNC came out and said that it was sorry for not recoginizing some sexist things that went on in the campigan that would go a long way. I do not fool myself to beleive one minute that nacy pelosi or howard dean or nonpartial every word they uttered hinted at their support for barack over hillary. Why should Obama or the DNC contribute to her mismanagement of her campaign finances? She should be soley responsible for her fiscal disasters.

Shame on you, Hillary Clinton! Barack Obama owes you nothing, and for you (and your husband) to not-so-subtly hold back on full-throttled support further confirms that the primary was about you and you alone, not the party, not the country. You and your supporters should not be wasting Obama’s time by whining over whether he’s doing enough for you. Think not about what Obama can do for you, Hillary and your supporters, but what you can do for Obama and, by extension, the Democratic party and the future of this country.

Who is embarrassed by our antics? Could it be an Obama supporter? We are fighting for our rights. Rights our fore father died for. We have the right to voice our opinions if we are 18 million or just one. So let’s be Americans and let us have our rights.

Let’s see if I get this the Obama supporters want the Clinton big donors
to give Senator Obama money for his campaign. However, the Obama supporters do not want to help pay off the Clinton debt.
I understand now and when Senator Obama looses this election maybe the the DNC and the voters who voted for Senator Clinton will be blamed for his loss too. I do not blame any supporter of Senator Clinton if they choose not to vote or vote for someone else. A vote for Senator Obama is a second term of President Jimmy Carter and a vote for Senator McCain will be a third term of Presdent George W. Bush. Wow the Super Delegates really gave the voters a no win choice on this election. Sorry I think both will say or do anything to get you to vote for them. I am one of the 18 million CLinton suporters and will sit this election out. Whoever gets elected will be a horrible President and a one term President too.
I also gave money for Senator Clinton campaign. However, I will not gove one cent for Senator Obama campaign.
Clinton 2012!

Why don’t Clinton’s supporters pay off her debt? They are the ones supposedly besotted with her.
It is unreasonable to expect the supporters of her opponent to do so, especially when she said the republican candidate was more qualified then her fellow democrat. I am was against the corrupt Clintons then, and I am against them now. Not a dime!

I just picked up the comment that the envelopes provided for Clinton donations had “Hillary for President” printed on them. Is she planning a stunt at the convention? Is she still hoping that something will happen to Obama before then? Maybe the problem with his plane has renewed her hope.
Would any Obama supporter give to her under when she refuses to recognize his candidacy? It is no surprise that she has only collected $100,000.

Obama is NOT qualified to lead our country. Hillary Clinton is the best but the DNC picked the WRONG guy who will NEVER be elected. He “forgot” to mention Hillary Clinton – BUT – wants the Clinton’s to Help him campaign.
Well….. the Millions of Hillary supporters will NOT forget in November – and our VOTES will be counted for McCain.

Why should Obama’s supporters pay off her debt? It’s true … she stayed in the race way past the time when it was clear she couldn’t win and spent those last weeks bashing him. Obama supporters, myself included, want to be certain that when we donate to his campaign, our money is NOT going to pay off HRC’s debt. I work hard for my money … the Clintons are rich. They can afford to pay off her campaign debts all by themselves.

I don’t understand WHY Obama supporters are expected to pay off Hillary’s debt. SHE’S the one who incurred the debt. She KNEW she didn’t have enough money & she kept spending anyway – why is that anyone else’s problem? It just shows what kind of President Obama would be…. it’s real easy to spend someone else’s money. I don’t want to be expected to pick up the tab for other people any more than I already do.

His words dont mean much. He does not follow through on his commitments.
Hillary and her supporters discovered this yesterday if not before.
BHO betrayed his supporters’ trust when he voted “YES” on FISA his top promise.

Ok, first of all I’m tired of this country as is…If we continue on the wave that we are on right now, we will soon be a third world country. We can’t afford to stay in this war in which we have gained absolutely nothing, no weapons of mass destruction, nothing to justify why we are there. Hillary made her debt while badmouthing Barack Obama, and trying to distance other democratic voters from him, she used the race card more than ANY black person I have never met with her “white fright” lower income white people won’t vote for Obama tirades. She wanted to win even if she had to disobey the rules that she helped to make. I started out pro Hillary, voting for her, and when I saw how tacky she acted, I couldn’t support her. She tore him down all in the wrong areas; she showed her lack of class in my opinion. Barack supporters are supposed to forget all of that and send her money to retire her debt. Know what? Even if Barack doesn’t raise all of the money to retire her debt, she’s still going to be rich, living the good life while we still bicker over whether or not Barack forgot to raise money for her campaign in which she tried to drag him through the mud. Mugabe said that Americans are hypocrites because we still have prejudice and racism in our own country…We look bad to other nations because we can’t get past a person’s color. There is nothing wrong with being 1/2 black and 1/2 white. Yes, he’s both….so get over the “Black” thing finally. Some Hillary supporters are upset for the wrong reasons. She simply lost the primaries, fair and square.

I think that the democratic party should covenene and elect the vice president candidate. At the same time liquidate the candidates campaign debts and concentrate on winning the election adn forming responsible government. MNW

Blah, blah, blah. It comes down to one thing: If you Hillary supporters (remember how HRC teamed up with FOX “news” to bash the hell out of Obama, tried to make voters think he’s a Muslim, etc.) think she’s so damn great, then why aren’t you sending her money to retire her debt? Talk is cheap. Also, why won’t Bill release the list of supporters to his presidential library? Or the names of international leaders whom he’s done business with? The last thing we want is Bill back in the White House. Obama should not even consider Hillary as VP. You may forgive such meanness and desperation as Hillary displayed during the primaries, but you don’t forget. She went off the deep end. That’s not someone with presidential qualities. Besides, not a peep about how she carpetbagged her way to the Senate by moving to New York? She’s a joke. During the primaries, nearly every state was her “hometown.” She’s a whore and a liar and very, very vindictive. She’s not experienced. Mrs. Bill Clinton was a first lady, not a policy or decision maker. What a joke. And so many fell for it. She drinks beer with the good ole guys in the Midwest, then goes home to one of her lavish houses (NY, DC), with her millions and millions of dollars. She appeals successfully to folks who are uneducated and for the most part not to intelligent. She must laugh all the way to the bank.

It’s nice to know that the MODS are doing a stand up job on this comment thread, by taking all of my posts down but leave up posts that say Hillary is a whore and a liar. Nice work, MODS!
