Barack Obama: He Completes Us
Comedy Central provides the Obama bio video the Obama campaign actually would like to have played Thursday night.
In actual news, HERE is the Obama campaign’s new TV ad about Gov. Sarah Palin, in which it tries to make the case that George W. Bush, not Palin, is Sen. John McCain’s true running mate.
The script reads:
NARRATOR: Well, he’s made his choice. But, for the rest of us… …there’s still no change. McCain doesn’t get it, calling this broken economy "strong." Wants to keep spending ten-billion-a-month in Iraq. And votes with George Bush ninety-percent of the time. So, while this may be his running-mate… (VISUAL: McCain/Palin)…America knows this is John McCain’s agenda. (VISUAL: McCain/Bush) And we can’t afford four more years of the same.
BO: I’m Barack Obama. And I approve this message.
Do you?

Sen. DeMint: GOP Race Could Go Until Convention
Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
If Obama considers that McCain and Bush have the same policies and will govern the same, then it makes logical and rational sense that Obama, Rezko, Ayers, Rev. Wright all have the same character traits and would govern the same. McCain has differed more often with Bush than Obama has with his 20 years very close associates with these people. Senator Obama just doesn’t get it. You are judged by the company you keep.
MCCAIN/PALIN ticket will win in November.

I approve.
McCain is still Bush part 3.
Palin’s stances on the issues are almost more Bush-like than McCain’s. And the areas she’s not like Bush she hasn’t taken any stances….
Obama’s indictment of McCain Thursday was not just about George Bush, it was about the ultraconservative ideals that have brought our economny to its knees and our moral authority destroyed abroad.
Palin and McCain represent the ideals of the past, regardless of their ages. THAT is the mistake McCain made with this pick.

Some are describing here as Dan Quayle in a dress (because of her lack of experience), others as a female Alberto Gonzales (because of the hiring and firing scandal), but I see her as the female TOM EAGLETON. I see it playing out like this: After the convention, the press will descend on her and McCain with questions about the firing of a state employee for personal reasons, then they will ask about the budget deficit she left as mayor of Wasilla. It will be a constant barrage and distraction from the message of the campaign. Next the National Enquirer will run stories about her not be the mother of the infant baby. Finally, after several weeks of agony for the Republicans, Gov. Palin will announce that she is withdrawing her name from the Republican ticket. The McCain campaign will accept the resignation, and McCain will hold a press conference to denounce the media as “agents of titillation” only concerned with scandals that increase their ratings. He will blame the Democrats and entrenched political establishment for practicing the “politics of destruction” for driving a “good decent woman, mother of five, and mother of soldier currently in Iraq, from public service.” But he will save his sharpest criticism for his own Rebublican party and the social conservatives who use “narrowly defined litmus tests” to eliminate perfectly qualified candidates who fail those tests. He will say that the only litmus test that he will apply is whether the candidate is ready to be President of the United States. Several days later, no longer under the constraints of a nominating convention, he will pick his real choice, his friend, his soul mate Joe Lieberman to be his running mate. He will also announce that like his hero Teddy Roosevelt, if elected he will serve only one term.

I think BHO should have stayed away from his remark on the economy, seeing how growth was just reported to be up by 3.3%. Perhaps he should have followed Peter’s lead and suggested that Palin shouldn’t be allowed to have as many kids as she wants. (/sarcasm)

Funny vid.
McGramp’s selection of an ethics-challenged featherweight as his VP makes clear that there’s a big difference between being a ‘maverick’ and a LOOSE CANNON.
Has America learned the lesson of the Bush years? NOT JUST ANYONE CAN DO THE JOB.

Speaking of her kids, how can she effectively take on the challenges of vp campaigning with four kids and an infant with Down’s Syndrome? One of two will invariably suffer. Of course, there are also the issues of her inexperience along with her lack of vetting which bring up serious questions about McCain’s judgement.

It is about knowledge and judgment.
Mccain’s is bad
Palin’s is almost non existent.

something tells me the afternoon after he announced her as his VP
she went into her…
“well global warming really has nothing to do with us speech”
and everyone reading this can imagine Mccain’s face and his look at the lobbyist advisers who vetted her and told him she was a good pick.

She is an anti-choice evangelical who wants to teach creationism to our children – which of Hillary’s true supporters is going to be swayed by her? None!!! only the fakes managed by the Rove people. The Palin choice is a desperate move by the McCain handlers- you can be sure that the Rove team made the choice since McCain barely knows her. With her lightweight resume: beauty queen, sport fishing , snowmobile rentals, and 2 years governorship of an idiosyncratic state with a very small population. They haven’t even fully vetted her since she is caught up in a local scandal- WootenGate in Alaska. After all the hot air emitted by the McCain/Rove team about Obama’s lack of experience they look even more hypocritical than ever. This is a ploy that will come back to bite them – only hard-core conservatives will buy into it. Who could want this person, as nice as she may be, to be a heart beat away from the presidency given McCain’s age and health history. This is a gift to the Obama/Biden campaign. The neocons self-destruct yet again!!! Thanks John.

OKAY NOT ONE SEEMS TO HAVE MENTIONED THAT MCCAIN IS HOW OLD???? HE IS TRULY ONE HEART BEAT AWAY FROM A HEARTATTACK AND A FIRST TERM GOVERNOR IS WHO HE CHOOSE TO STEP UP AND BE OUR PRESIDENT. GIVE ME A BREAK RJ. THIS ISN’T ABOUT MCCAIN’S CHOOSING SOMEONE WITH LIKE IDEA’S THIS IS ABOUT HIS JUDGEMENT IN CHOOSING SOMEONE WHO HAS LESS EXPERIENCE THAN OBAMA, ESPECIALLY AFTER THAT IS ALL HE HAS SPOKEN AGAINST OBAMA’S EXPERIENCE. NOT A GOOD CHOICE. THE OTHER THING. A WAR IS NOT GETTING US ANYWHERE. WE ARE NOT CLOSER TO CATCHING TERROIST THAN WE WERE WHEN 911 HIT. SO WE NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT. OBAMA CAN SIT DOWN AT THE TABLE AND TALK WHAT BECAUSE THE MIDDLE EAST WILL RECEIVE HIM BETTER THAT MCCAIN. THEY DON’T TRUST AMERICA (BUSH) SO SOMEONE WHO IS DIFFERENT THE NORM WOULD BE EASIER TO ADJUST TO. AS FAR AS THE COMMENT ABOUT THE ECONOMY BEING UP NOW POSTED BY DON. HOW CAN SOME OF US BE SO STUPID. OF COURSE IT IS UP RIGHT NOW AND WILL CONTINUE TO IMPROVE SO THAT WE WILL FORGET THE DAMAGE THE REPUBLICANS HAVE DONE. AMERICA HAS THE WORSE DEMENTIA I HAVE EVER SEEN. FOR THOSE SO CAUGHT UP ON MCCAIN HANDLING FOREIGN AFFAIRS WITH EXPERIENCE YOU CAN’T GET NO BETTER THAN BIDDEN DO YOUR HOMEWORK. NEVER MIND THE WAR WHAT ABOUT KATRINA VICTIMS, GAS PRICES, HIGH FORCLOSURE RATES, ETC. WHAT GO DOES IT DO TO BE PROTECTED FROM TERROISTS WHEN ARE ECONOMY IS GOING TO KILL US ANYWAY?

Mary, what evidence do you have that Obama has agreed with Ayers at all? They sat on an education board together for a short time. Does that mean they agreed at all. Never mind what Ayers thinks about anything now. (And he has repudiated the oft quoted line about him being ‘unrepentent’ about his so called terrorist activities.)
I am not sure that being helped to buy a home is really agreeing with someone. And Obama has fully distanced himself from Wright. McCain continues to support the failed war and failed economic policies of President Bush.
Posted by: markymark | August 30, 2008, 12:43 pm 12:43 pm
What happened to the experience arguement? Obama’s name might not be on many bills, but certainly more than someone who was a mayor two years ago.
What happened to putting country first? If he doesn’t know about the economy and his advisors are calling it a mental recession, then why not pick a running mate that will help with the economy. I don’t care if you don’t have a cynical bone in your body, there is no way Pallin is the most qualified person to take over the Presidency for a man that will be 77 years old during his first term.

McPalin will lose come November 04, it is a loser ticket, a rush pick without any judgement and understanding of the consequnces of that choice. Give me a break, Miss Alaska as VP, does not make sense at all. God save America from Gustav and McPalin.

Fellow Democrats, beware, this is a most Rovian sleight of hand. It has already been arranged that McBush will suffer a heart attack on May 2009, and Palin will name Bush as her VP, and then she will resign. This is how they will bring you a third Bush term.

Mitt Romney would have been a perfect choice for John McCain’s VP.
He was a Governor, Corporate executive with a strong family and real presidential stature. Besides he has strong ties with at least 3 states and could have pulled Michigan.
John McCain made a huge blunder with Ms. Palin’s choice. It relealed glaring holes in McCain’s ability to make sound decisions (meeting a person only once?? and offer the role of a best buddy??).
Posted by: S. Rothenberger | August 30, 2008, 1:08 pm 1:08 pm
As much as I like Romney, he was NOT the best pick. Too many Americans have already demonstrated that they believe Mormonism to be cultish.
Palin is the ideal pick.
Posted by: Don | August 30, 2008, 1:11 pm 1:11 pm
I approve the message. Obama makes an excellent point. Regardless of the packaging, Palin- like McCain- is more of the same. This country cannot afford four more years of the same.
For those who keep bringing up Rezko and Ayers, have you forgotten the Keating Five scandal? McCain was actually investigated. He has no new ideas and his judgement is clearly lacking.
He does not have the wherewithal to change course when it is obvious that he is on the wrong track! Palin is cute and seems to be a nice person. I believe that McCain chose her over Romney because Romney is Mormon, and it does not appear that Mormons matter much to him.

I am sick of some bloggers who say,”how can you call yourself an Indy if you are voting for Mccain/Palin.” I am sure you that think this way are only voting Demi. because of the party and not based on who can do the job better and fix the country. Just because someone is a Democrat or a Republican it doesn’t mean they would make a great leader. Stop voting based on party lines and vote because of the issues. I was a Hillary supporter(which you will probably call me a Republican in disguise) I am voting for Mccain/Palin because they are reformists. I can tell you Mccain has voted against many issues that he has disagreed with the Republicans on. As a matter of fact, Mccain’s policies are almost the same as Hillary’s policies; they are both centrists. Obama, on the other hand, doesn’t know what he is and what he wants to do for America. I couldn’t help, but notice how Bill was forcing to praise this inflated air of man; it looked like a joke a bad joke. I also couldn’t help to notice how Bill even said Mccain was a good man and hero; he also flat out stated, at the convention, that Mccain was a good man.

DK:
You can bet that any time a Democrat supports a bill “improving” the military, there is always a catch in it. With Obama’s version of the bill, a person would earn benefits simply by signing up. With McCain’s version, one would actually have to serve to earn benefits. Basically Obama’s version was the typical Democratic part entitlement, not an earned benefit. Most active military stated that they opposed Obama’s bill because it would make it too difficult to maintain the military – people would be in-and-out on a single term, gaining as much benefits as someone now serving 10-15 years.
As I said, a typical Democrat entitlement program. And with Obama’s idiotic tax plans, there would be less tax revenue (even he admitted it) and more government expenditures. Don’t forget, the “upper class tax breaks” that Bush implemented led to record-high tax revenue (if you just read the MSM, you may not be aware of that), NOT a tax shortfall. Any deficit was a result of increased spending by Congress (to the Republican’s shame), NOT lowered tax rates. But that is too compicated for Democrats to figure out, so they just criticize Bush and the MSM lets them get away with it without pointing out the real financial numbers.

In one quick stroke JOHN McCAIN proved who he is: He DOESN’T PUT COUNTRY FIRST.
Nothing against Sara Palin (like many, i know very little about her – still reading up)…. but the circumstances and process leading to his running mate’s selection makes me deeply worried about John McCain’s capacity to lead.
Is she ready to take over the presidency if for whatever reason John McCain falls sick (whether you like or not there is a very normal biological process called aging, which can bring changes without too much of a warning)? Can she directly deal with world leaders in an international crisis – whether it is involving Afghanistan, Middle-east, Russia-Europe, China-Taiwan, India-Pakistan? What does she know about the geopolitics of the world? How many world leaders did she meet? What sort of international exposure she has to understand global affairs?
Did John McCain ask these questions before offering the job?
It is widely reported he met the running mate only once before offering the second-most powerful job in the world if elected. I can’t figure that one out.
This would be a big gamble he is placing not just on himself but on the entire Nation.
This kind of reckless approach is what brought the country to the current state over the course of the the last 8-years. I was inclining for McCain believing he would be different from Bush once he takes office.
Not any more.

Most Republicans know that there are women who are much more qualified for McCain’s selection as VP: Hutchison, Dole, Snowe to name a few.

Sorry, kat. Wrong on all three points.
1. Her statement was that if the position wasn’t full time and difficult, she wouldn’t consider it. With that stature, they’re family will have so many staff members to watch those kids’ every minute of the day. That is if Chris doesn’t just want to give up his oil biz and be a gasp! full time dad.
2. She has more domestic and foreign experience in her little finger than Obama has in his whole body.
3. McCain has shown extremely good judgment in picking her. It gives the Dems nothing to whine about without looking ridiculous except for maybe “OMG, she’s pro guns! The horror of it all. Wait, wait, she likes to fish too.”

Picking Palin is not about APPEASEMENT of the Obama camp.
It is about electrifying the Republican Party’s MIGHTY SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE POWERHOUSE,… AND unleashing a stunning torrent of campaign cash, as the McCain camp raised a staggering US$7 million !!!!….in the day-and-a-half since Mr McCain named Mrs Palin on Friday.
The evangelical conservative grass roots of the Republican Party, which helped secure two White House terms for Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush is erupting in delight just in time for this week’s party convention.

You are missing the point in comparing Obama with Palin. If she is so good, and capable and interested in running the country, then she should have joined the primaries. Why didn’t she?
Presidential candidates are judged and nominated BY THE PEOPLE through a gruelling process called primaries, where:
a) Both candidates McCain and Obama competed and Won against many competent and formidable peeers and opponents;
b) The country got to know the candidates over the course of the entire primary season of 12-18 months;
c) Their appeal and organization capabilities are tested in the public arena.
Basically at the end of the primary season, I was satisfied with both Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama. I believed both are unique, capable leaders and will put great efforts to bring some reform.
However, John McCain, being the oldest candidate ever, had the burden to be extra careful on the kind of VP he selects.
WHen that time came to HAND-PICK his BACKUP using his own judgement, John McCain choose an easy path to get through the election, instead of focusing on the real needs of the Presidency and the Country.

OK, let’s see McCain run an ad with Obama and his real running mate, Louis Farrakhan.
And then one with Wright.
And then one with Rezko.
The real powers behind the throne of the princess.

Gloria
Who can’t he pick her anyway?
She’s likely going to have Biden’s lunch.

Amazing to watch the crassness of the “tolerant” liberal left. You dishonest dems might as well face it – Palin has more experience than “present” (as opposed to president) Superman Obama.

These attempts to connect Senator Obama to Ayers are really stupid. That is the best and most polite term I can come up with. They are also hypocritical. This white American man who attempted treason on the United States of America is living large and in charge in a plush neighborhood in the burbs of Chicago enjoying a long, prosperous career. Only in America. Yet, this is not discussed, a flimsy, at best, link to the candidate who cares for hardworking families is attempted.
Lets face it people, and you all know this, this kills John McCain’s “country first” ramble. Picking Governor Palin is an OBVIOUS attempt to win over the women that are still in conspiracy world thinking that the democratic nomination was “taken” from Senator Clinton verses her just losing it. Even the e-mails and memos that were mysteriously released to the news indicate the confusion and mismanagement in her campaign. Yet, again, this is not discussed or realize. Blaming the DNC and everyone else is the reason why Senator Clinton lost. Boy, this is EXACTLY how this country ended up with TWO terms of Bush/Cheney.
Karl Rove blasted Senator Obama on Face the Nation 3 weeks ago saying that if he choses Governor Kaine of Virginia, Governor Sebeillus of Kansas, or Senator Bayh of Indiana they would be picks based on winning the election not governing the nation. Now, Senator McCain has went and done JUST THAT. What does Mr. Rove have to say now.
It was Senator McCain who said that Senator Obama would rather lose a war and win an election. What does this pick say to that? Was she REALLY the best choice for VP? Yeah, the media and the republicans are trying to sell everyone on her but in reality, they no they are trying to pass off a lemon for something legit.

To Gloria: I don’t thin McCain took the easy way out. Most people do not have anything to do with politics till right before the conventions. So they know really little about what any candidate has said or done over the past year. Plus since Palin was such a surprising pick the media and everyone else are going to be analyzing her with a fine toothed comb. By the time election comes around she will be a known candidate in whatever way really matters to the public.

Citizen AJ: I am friends with several republicans and they are thrilled with Palin because she is a true conservative, with actual accomplishments. The fact that she is a woman helps, but if she brought nothing else to the table their would not be such excitement in the republican base right now. The whole McCain picked her because she is a female and Hillary was not picked, ect. is just a response that democrats have come up with because they consider Palin to be a real threat. After all she is the only person out of Obama, McCain, Biden, and herself who has any executive experience and guess what she is asking to be elected to an executive role.

From Andrew Halcro, who was one of the Republicans who ran against Palin in 2006.
The campaign of John McCain has sent a staff of eight people into Alaska to conduct background checks and vetting on Governor Sarah Palin.
Word is they have have eight rooms reserved at a Wasilla hotel.
……………….
McCain Exhibits lack of judgment for impulsively giving Palin the VP without sufficiently vetting her, Poor Judgment. If he can’t get the VP process right, what else will he fail on?
