Biden Makes the Case — Night Three, Closing Thoughts

It was, in the words of one adviser, a "prosecutor’s case," and tonight Joe Biden showed why he was tapped for the ticket.

He made the case for Barack Obama arguably more effectively than Obama does himself. He also made the case against John McCain, surely more effectively than Obama himself.

And when you toss in Bill Clinton’s speech, and the well-choreographed roll call, complete with its magical moment of Hillary Clinton asking for the acclamation vote, what have is a rollicking third night of what’s been a remarkably well-organized convention.

After the first night, in particular, this was no sure deal. This had the makings of a rough week, with the early critique about the lack of message coming dangerously close to taking hold.

But the Obama team kept with its plan and has pulled off three nights that have begun to shape Obama, and the race, basically just like they want him shaped.

And oh — by the way — unity is in the air.

And so, the pressure is on for tomorrow night.   This convention either ends on a bang if he delivers a well received speech, or it is a huge missed opportunity. Biden and both Clintons have set the table for Obama. Now it is all up to him.

That’s all for tonight — be back tomorrow, and check back tomorrow morning, as always, for The Note.

Good Analysis, Rick.
I think all but the most strident Republicans and the few wing-nut PUMAs (who aren’t republicans in disguise) have gotten their questions answered about who Barack Obama is and his readiness to be President.
Looking foward to tomorrow night.

i’m so disappointed in the american public. obama may be half black, but he is ALSO half white. why is it i can’t, as a white woman, claim him as my own? he is a white man. raised by a white mom, white grandparents, white relatives, etc. etc. i’m so disallusioned by all the talk of the first black man to be nominated….blah, blah. when did he not become half white? i never taught my kids black and white (20 and 22 yrs. old). i taught them people. the good, the bad, the great, and the ugly. i listened tonight, hoping that joe biden could put it all in perspective. i’m just not sure. of joe, of hillary, of bill, or if i can claim obama as my own….mine, what i stand for, what i taught my daughters, truth, kindness, faith in mankind, and never, ever, give up. God Bless this country, and all that we used to stand for. i’m thinking about moving…..to canada.

Barack Obama wants to correct problems he perceives in the American People. He and his wife see us as a “mean” nation of the “US KKK-A” who need to be told where to set our thermostats and what to eat by the socialist nations of Europe that we should be emulating. “Greedy” successful people and “windfall” companies, who already pay disproportionate taxes, are to be further punished. He wants to use government to correct problems with the people of America.
…..John McCain wants to correct problems he perceives in the American government. Like pork-barrel waste, overspending – he recently railed against republicans for this – and lack of vision. McCain’s vision of strength for America has snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in Iraq. McCain wants to use the people and their priorities to correct the government of America.

Joe Biden’s original attacks, that Joe Biden thought up just this morning.
“I pity the fool that votes republican.”
“Go ahead McCain, make my day.”
“Come with me if you want to live.”
“Do you feel lucky, punk McCain?”
“And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.”
These are the intellectual property of Joe Biden and are wholly developed by Joe Biden. Any resemblance to other people’s words, speeches, law school course work, or popular movies PROVES that you are a repugnican McRacist and want no change. Did I mention that anyone who disagrees is a racist?

Yes, the GOP doesn’t have Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi playing the convention. Conservatives like John McCain prefer to balance the budget and keep government small and efficient rather than confusing entertainment, showmanship, and infatuation with the executive branch of the United States. But, if you have no experience or real accomplishments, I suppose fireworks, Greek temples, concerts, and rising up out of the floor are a satisfactory distraction.

It is all a lot of orchestrated hot-air. What a waste of time and money! At least Biden began to mention possible change topics, OBama hasn’t bothered to think that far and his thoughts are scary. I am not convinced that either can handle the mess our nation is in. Oh I just wish there was a candidate I could believe in on any ticket–not this year and definitely NOT obama.

Posted by: Two-cats | August 28, 2008, 12:58 am 12:58 am

You have to remember Obama is better than anyone else that was nominated in the last 30 years — he needs a stage and 70,000 adoring fans to show he is the ‘ONE’. He may confused and be thinking he is competing in “American Idol” instead of a Preidential race. Remember is the “ONE” we have been waiting for.
Heck with the cost — of the stage (3 million), plus the cost to tear everything down at the current center, move to the “stadium” and then tear that down.
He should have donated the money to all the “homeless” people in Denver that were “swept” off the street before convention and gave his speech at the Pepsi center.

Martha S.- Please, please get a life. As much as you would like to twist your heroine’e words from last night, it ain’t going to happen. Get over it and move on. I am a female baby boomer, a practicing lawyer for more than 20 years who survived the discriminatory old boys’ club of the legal profession during the last two decades. It has not been easy. I voted for Hillary’s husband twice despite his rocky first chaotic term and his personal ups and downs which unfortunarely resulted in his impeachment. Obama is the future. His keen intellect and promise reminds me of Franklin Roosevelt. He is a man of our times that comes around once in a generation.
Hillary mismanaged her campaign. She could not stop the warring factions that existed between the Mark Penn and Harold Wolfson camps. That is not the sign of a good manager, let alone a strong leader. Her campaign is in debt uper to its eyeballs. Hillary should follow the lead of Teddy Kennedy and make a mark for herself in the Senate. It is time for the Clintos to pass the torch and exit stage left.

In the last so many years Republicans have not really kept the government small. Yes, they cut government services and involvement in many areas including health and human services. But they more than compensated for this reduction by bloating the spending in military and in foreign adventures. The budget is running record deficits. Is it any surprise they want to cut services to the most vulnerable to balance the budget? Is this what true Christians do? They mercilessly divide and rule. Thanks to our own prejudices these Robinhoods in reverse stay in power.

This may seem difficult for an Obama kool-aid follower, but read!
A lawsuit was brought by Philip J. Berg, Esquire, [Berg is a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania; former candidate for Governor and U.S. Senate in Democratic Primaries; former Chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County; former member of Democratic State Committee; an attorney with offices in Montgomery County, PA and an active practice in Philadelphia, PA, filed a lawsuit in Federal Court on 8/21.
“MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF PLAINTIFF’S MOTION FOR
TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AND FOR EXPEDITED DISCOVERY”
“Plaintiff Philip J. Berg, Esquire [hereinafter “Plaintiff”] hereby offers this Memorandum in support of his motion for a temporary restraining order, to enjoin Defendant Barack Hussein Obama, a/k/a Barry Obama, a/k/a Barry Soetoro, a/k/a Barack Soetoro, a/k/a Barry Dunham, a/k/a Barack Dunham [hereinafter “Obama”] from running
for the office of President of the United States”
“Obama’s grandmother on his father’s side, his half-brother and half-sister all claim Obama was born not in Hawaii but in Kenya. Reports reflect that Obama’s mother traveled to Kenya during her pregnancy; however, she was prevented from boarding a flight from Kenya to Hawaii at her late stage of pregnancy (which, apparently, was a normal restriction, to avoid births during a flight). By these reports, Stanley Ann Dunham Obama gave birth to Obama in Kenya, after which she flew home and registered Obama’s birth.”

it is hilarious how increasingly redundant and desperate y’all sound after tonight…
and whoever posts the stupid baby- killer lines…needs to do some research…it’s complex but if you know how to read write and think you can understand…
let me break it down simply…
a law was in place already that required doctors to extend life saving measures to all babies born alive.
The laws that Obama voted against gave fetuses the title of “personhood”…not for the squeamish to think otherwise…but this exact language would have set stage for reversal of abortion decriminalization which most in this country aren’t ready for. The Illinois Medical Society was against these bills too. There was a full investigation in Jill Stanek’s claims and there was NO evidence to support them. Obama has stated repeatedly he would supports bans on late term abortion. The person who started all this is an extremist who believes the birth control pill should be banned and is plastering billboards all over Tanzania to discourage condom usage (condom usage are considered vital in SubSaharan Africa to stem the spread of HIV/Aids. Who is guilty of killing here?

Yeah, and next week at the Republican conference we’ll all cheer the video of McCain’s first wife as she talks about how proud she is of her gigolo husband, who sucked so long on the government teat that he never had a single job in the private sector and had to take a rich mistress and become a kept man. That’ll be a great show.
Ah, yes, but he was a POW (but he hates to mention it).

Give me a break — “Can Obama deliver?” Is there anyone who doesn’t believe the media will rave about his speech tomorrow night? Seriously, do we even NEED to hear it? Obama’s acceptance speech will be hailed as the single greatest oratory in election history — which will be no different than all the other baseless hyperbole surrounding this guy.

Yeah… right…. defend the undermining and devaluing of womanhood under the guise of “we won you a right (license to kill)” You folks are pathetic… anyone who claims that abortion is anything other than the human tragedy that it is hopeless and should be retroactively aborted themself.

Remember, this is all just Democratic “Stagecraft”. One HUGE political commercial, disguised as political theater. The GOP is going to do the same next week. Of course Barack comes across well in all this staged ddrama. There are plenty of TelePrompters to use as his crutches. The REAL test is going to be the Presidential Debates. Barack’s weakness, his stammering and “umming” and emptiness is going to be his downfall. His unbridled and frankly, unjustified arrogance is going to be his ruin as well. “The center cannot hold”…

Hey, I know Mack….why don’t we invite John McCain’s good buddy and long time campaign adviser Richard Quinn to the RNC? Then he discuss some of his extreme radical views as evidenced by his editorials and those of the racist magazine he runs including the advocation of the assasination of Abraham Lincoln and oh so so so much more?

Tomorrow night, it all comes down to a speech. Now we all know that he will do that just fine. But a speech isn’t enough. Tomorrow he needs to comvince the American people that he can be and will be the next President of the United States. This means connecting with the American people. This means not speaking into the sky with soaring platitudes but looking into the camera and speaking to the people in their living rooms and assuring them he has what it takes… tomorrow, we will sit in our living rooms. Ask yourself is he talking to me? Or is he looking into the distance making a very historical speech. If he connects with us in our living rooms is the key. Not whether he is able to give an impressive speech.

Hokuto,
I don’t think abortion is a good thing and I don’t believe Senator Obama does either. I think it has gone on since Old testament times however and would continue to go on underground if Roe V Wade was overturned. The primary difference since Roe v Wade is that NOW 88% of abortions take place during the first trimester…an huge reversal over the way things were before. No-one thinks this is an easy subject…just like war…or life support for those who can’t breathe on their own…or many many other ways we play god.

mac,,,you haven’t heard of him because the press (contrary to what you may believe) has given Senator McCain a free pass on this… I don’t think he’s blown anything up…just encouraged hate – (which usually leads to crime)… maybe you should do a little homework…I’ll say this his connections to Senator McCain were much more intimate than that of Senator Obama’s association with William Ayers.

Unbelievable Circus–As Reverend Obama is anointed, we have Bill, Hillary and Joseph Biden himself all on public record lately saying he is not experienced enough to hold the Presidential office. Of course, Hillary and Bill came out with a “show” of support so that Hillary could come back in 2012 without being accused of sabotaging this election for Obama. O.K….forgiven, even though that stinks. Nobody believes they have any affection or respect for him really. And Biden?? Gee…I’m not VP so Obama is “too inexperienced” and “you can’t learn it on the job..” But now, SUDDENLY and MIRACULOUSLY FOLKS, Biden has Full Faith in Messiah Obama. My prediction is that when the carnival ends…the American people, in good sense, will see the smokescreen for what it is–an attempt to tap into “longing for change” by introducing one of the worst teams ever nominated. Begala himself called Obama “half-preacher.” True–Obama really should have become a motivational speaker instead. He certainly hasn’t fixed Chicago, which has a murder and crime rate out of control…he’s a blank slate, folks, but the “purity” of his soul will save America, right?? Watch out. The man is not competent for the job. Hillary was competent but rejected. And Obama certainly showed no “change” in going with Biden, the Bulldog, and no unity in rejecting the Clintons and Hillary’s constituency. He was a fool because a huge block of voters will be shifting to McCain.

We have had “free” birth control and the morning after pills for years – this is just total irresponsibility – don’t blame the government and don’t lay this on Obama/Biden!Does anybody take responsibility for their actions anymore? If you are not going to be chaste, fine – but take responsibility for your children or the fact that you want to “kill” them. This is a personal choice – don’t blame a government for allowing you that choice – you are the problem! The government cannot legislate morality and all laws governing decency have been struck down – we live in a sex crazed, pornagraphic society with few moral principals left. That is what a “few” people wanted and all of us got!

“Anyone know the issues Obama stands on…I mean besides raise taxes, grow the government, kill the economy that along with some marxism and helping muslim terrorists out by keeping the troops from killing them?”
LOL. Just what planet have you been on this past eight years, chatty? For other than the top 1% of income “earners,” what you describe is pretty much what Bush has done. You must be awful rich to have seen a tax decrease this past 8 years. And where’s the smaller government the republicans promised? Not only is it not smaller, but it’s not half as qualified nor effective as under previous administrations. Bush’s plugged in amateurs to staff everything from DOJ to FEMA, trashed the economy and increased the national debt beyond reckoning. And Bush’s sure done great for terrorism, too: it was Bush’s unnecessary invasion of Iraq that fomented Al Quaida there, created the anti-US insurgency, and left the Taliban to regroup in Afghanstan to where they’re now deadlier to US troops than the baddies in Iraq.
And just in case you’re really serious about learning about Obama’s policy proposals, here’s a simple link; sure, you could’ve Googled for it yourself, but I figured maybe they don’t have Google on Mars.

As far as being too young and inexperienced for the job, at least Bill actually had a pretty well-rounded resume and actually held an executive office before he decided he was qualified enough to run for President. Hard to believe there’s someone out there with an ego even bigger than Bill’s.

Biden is doesn’t know anything about the American Economy…he’s not even a Military Man….Biden takes care of Foreign Policy and national Security and Obama takes care of our Economy as if Obama knows anything about it? You’ve got to be kidding me. He only served as Senator in a crash course (barely 2 years but 145 actual days of senate experience on record) after serving as a Community Organizer. 4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom – LIAR, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in Kenya.

6.) My Name is African Swahili – LIAR, your name is Arabic and ‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.

8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian – LIAR, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian – LIAR, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

14.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill – LIAR, you didn’t write it,introduce it, change it, or create it.
15.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois – LIAR, even your supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
16.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year – LIAR, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
17.) No One Contacted Canada About NAFTA – LIAR, the Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.
18.) I Am Tough On Terrorism – LIAR, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction of Israel.
19.) I Didn’t Run Ads In Florida – LIAR, you allowed national ads to run 8-12 times a day for two weeks – and you still lost.
20. I Have Passed Bills In The U.S. Senate – LIAR, you have passed A BILL in the U.S. Senate – for Africa, which shows YOUR priorities.

I bet Bill went back stage and threw up after that speach. Did anyone else notice Bill’s nose growing with each sentence? President Clinton’s speech “tone”, reminds me of the most popular girl in school saying to the least popular “I like your dress, your hair” etc. Just because Bill Clinton says Obama is ready and qualified, doesn’t make him so. As far as being too young and inexperienced for the job, at least Bill actually had a pretty well-rounded resume and actually held an executive office before he decided he was qualified enough to run for President. Hard to believe there’s someone out there with an ego even bigger than Bill’s. Obama Biden actually means OsAMA BInlaDEN worse than Bush. Tom, Obama’s poll is falling…he should be up by double digit by now like Kerry did consistently in 2004 but he can’t because millions of people are not that stupid like you to vote for a misfit with bad associations and have lied about his background, character and accomplishments. People will not just forget what tehy already know. lot of people are just quiet but they have already made up their minds for McCain. In New York and New Jersey, Obama is just a laughing stock except of course for the stupid black idiots.

neil1785—ok i can see your just a ignorant ranting racist i wont argue with a moronic inbred like you. like i said go to your kkk meating, obama is smarter by far then mccain and makes bush look brain dead. have a good life but know this it is 2008 not 1958 we dont cut down or think someone isnt smart because of race anymore.

Posted by: tom | August 28, 2008, 8:45 am 8:45 am

tom, not because I’m voting for McCain make me or anyone racist. I’m just objective with my selections…I don’t like McCain…I like Hillary better but he’s the lesser of two evils between McCain and Obama…I wouldn’t mind voting for Colin Powell if he’s the nomines because I know he has vast experience…but common, barely 2 years experience in senate does not obviously qaulify you to solve teh complex issues that America is facing right now.

Posted by: neil1785 | August 28, 2008, 8:49 am 8:49 am

mccain use to be against bush but now mccain and bush are like twins. if mccain was the man he use to be i could see why hillary supporters woudl vote for him but mccain is now just like bush. so think before you vote in anger over the fact your candidate lost primary.

tom , it’s not that…Hillary is now dancing with teh wolves just like McCain has to do as well with Bush because tehir in teh same party for the sake of unity but that doesn’t mean that MCCain is going to follow whatever bad decisions Bush had done. He’s not that stupid. McCain already laid out his plans and not all of them coincide with Bush’s

Posted by: neil1785 | August 28, 2008, 8:51 am 8:51 am

NEIL NEEDS TO REALIZE WHO CREATED THE PRESENT MESS—AND MCCAIN VOTED 95% IN FAVOR WITH BUSH—-IT IS THAT SIMPLE

Posted by: rodney | August 28, 2008, 8:52 am 8:52 am

Now all Obama has to do is make another home run or since he is in a stadium go for the touchdown!!!! Dr King’s historic speech video clip should definately be shown!!!! and Obama saying something like. Dr.King your dream of equality his close be being realized and when I am sworn in the office of president of these United States in January it would have truly became a reality!!
From the words of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, this proves that sometimes the dreams we dare to dream really do come true, espesially in the words of Harriet Tubman if we just keep going and also never give up on our dreams!!!!!!
God Bless America!!!!!!

Posted by: merle7 | August 28, 2008, 8:52 am 8:52 am

neil1785—i just dont get why you would vote for a guy taht has voted with bush 95% of the time when obama and hillary,s policies and ideas are almost identical. just doesnt make sense to vote for a guy that is so far from your candidate hillary. it doesnt make any sense unless you are racist or just bitter. the old saying if i cant have it nobody will have it.

I just told you, I’m not racist. If there’s a black presidential candidate who is better than the Clintons, I will go all they way for him/her. It’s just that I don’t see anything spectacular in Obama, right now. Maybe when he gets riped for 10 more years and have noteable accomplishments in high office but now, I can’t see him qualified for the job.

Posted by: neil1785 | August 28, 2008, 8:57 am 8:57 am

neil1785–ok fine you must vote your heart but remember you are voteing for 4 more years of the last 8 years..taht is what hillary said and she is right.

Posted by: rodney | August 28, 2008, 9:03 am 9:03 am

tom,
Clinton was a governor of Arkansas for 10 years or a little more. Being a governor of a State is like the President of that state. You think about how to strategize the economy in the that state and how to increase diplomatic relations with other states. These other states are like foreign countries as an analogy. This is an experience of leadership in high office needed in prepration to becoming a President in the Highest office

Posted by: neil1785 | August 28, 2008, 9:04 am 9:04 am

billy bob—look back and neil1785 was calling obama a”stupid black man” that is why i say he is racist, now talk about facts and truths, and i will agree or disagree but saying obama is stupid or because he is black is wrong.obama is black yes but he is very very far from stupid he has more brains then mccain his wife bush jr and his wife put together.

Posted by: tom | August 28, 2008, 9:05 am 9:05 am

Dear bldblf ,
I think you’re missing the point. The fact that a racially mixed American has been elected as the candidate of a major party is a genuine measure of how far we have progressed as a society. You’re correct that his ‘color’ has nothing to do with the content of his character.
The fact that the runner up was a remarkable, strong Woman in her own right serves to highlight our progression, it doesn’t detract from it.
If Hillary hadn’t been surrounded with people who were more interested in satisfying their own egos and constantly bickering rather than concentrating on her candidacy, she would be the nominee.
As for experience, Bush started out with a cadre of people with all the experience in the world – look what good that did. Bush and his people, and now apparently McCain, are guilty of coming to a conclusion first, and finding “facts” to back it up afterward. That behavior negates any amount of experience.
By the way, Lincoln also had very little experience – he turned out okay.

rodeny, Biden voted for the IRAQ war….Democratic party plays major role in senate and congress. Majority of them are dems that may override the President’s decision. So, it’s not only the President’s decision to go to iraq war or to put jobs overseas… We may not know it that the control teh dems have on the congress and senate can be used as haven for bad decisions so Bush and teh republican party would look bad in public.

Tom, I agree that Obama is a smart person, however I would argue with your analogy of McCain and Bush. Bush has been outwitting the Democratic congress for years. The problem with Obama is simple, he is to green for the job and under qualified. As part of the small business community, I am strongly opposed to his policies because i know he will send us into a recession if not worse. His policies are the absolute wrong direction this country needs at this point.

The master of staged theatrics made a “surprise appearance”, right and I suppose he will pull an energy policy out of a hat next.
For those that believe in fairy tales this convention is right up your alley. President Clinton tried his best to make all the viewers believe Obama is now qualified to become president but, 60 days ago he wasn’t ?
Many in the media are now trying to nail down just exactly what experience Obama has to be president, as evident in the many appearances of Obama supporters with the news commentators. When these devote democratic supporters are asked “just what exact experience does Obama have to be president” they start with um, ah, ah and can’t come up with any in intelligent reasons. Many of these supporters are fellow politicians that work have worked with the junior senator, that has only spent 120 days ( at best, the rest running for office ) in the senate. Prior to that, go look at the record to see just exactly what legislation he sponsored in the Illinois legislature.
When you start to really look at the experience he has, it is nothing more than the wizard behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. It is any wonder, all any of his constituantes can say is UM and AH.

tom: Your are wrong. Obama was never born poor. His mother met his father in college. Her mother had a good job and put Obama thru college. You must be reading the wrong book. I don’t know why they are sending a message of poor mouth. I read his whole BIO in the NYT. give me a break. And he didn’t work while in college. His mother died at 53 years old. She was married and divorced three times, his father four times. They were never broke.

Rodney: Bush and Cheney are ten times smarter than Obama ever will be. Bush didn’t use the speeches of others like Obama did because he doesn’t know how to form words to make a speech. You know it and most of the country knows it but they don’t want to admit it. They think he is going to change the world, that he is the Messiah. Well let me advise you the only change is in his pocket. Biden should be president and Obama VP. There is a difference in graduating college coming out smart than coming out dumb.

rodney, here’s as fact for you and to tom…
Harvard was recently forced to change its honor system to reflect the practices at other colleges — in 2001 a record 91% of Harvard students graduated cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. Google it if you want to read more about the scandal. But, needless to say, honors at Harvard mean very little. The real test for a law student is getting published — the real test for a professor is getting published. Unfortunately, though, Obama never published any academic articles. McCain was a teenager in the Navy Academy. Obama as a teenager did terrible in school. Obama waited a decade to go into harvard law. Obama was 31 at Harvard law competing against people a decade younger. Easy to do well when you are 30 competing against kids. McCain sacrificed for his country. McCain flew fighter pilots. Obama is terrible with numbers. Obama says 57 states. Obama says 100 million died in Burma. Obama says 10,000 died in a tornado in Kansas. Obama did get affirmative action he got poor grades at Columbia and got into harvard. Obama was 30 when he was in harvard law. McCain was a teenager at the navy academy. Obama as a teenager when to Occidental College and then was able to transfer to Columbia and got poor grades at Columbia. McCain was tested at 130 IQ in the navy and flew planes. Obama is terrible with numbers and could never have flown planes.

I knew people in college that were in the top of their class that never amounted to anything. A college degree is a starting point and that is all it is. The old saying ” the is no substitution for experience” still is true.

Angie: You are right. Obama was born in Kenya and only registered in Hawaii. But the hospitals in Kenya are covering up his birth. If he says he was born in Hawaii, they have the hospital records there and the U.S. should investigate it. Until that happens I don’t believe he is a citizen of this country. He hated this country and hated white people. It was in his BIO that I read. He is so obsessed with MLK making history he wants to copy him. I am hoping that Hillary’s voters vote for McCain to give him the win. Obama is as dumb as they come and without Biden running the country they would kick him out.

HawktheSlayer: If you know your history, Obama is not black or white he is Mulatto the offspring of a white woman and a black man. He would love to be all black but no so. The media is afraid to call him that and the blacks don’t like that name but that what he is to stay. A man that is half black and half white cannot be called black. Its impossible. Jessie Jackson is American black, Obama is half African black. Obama wants to be like MLK so bad he can taste it. His ready of MLK’s books given to him by his mother has obsessed him.

Wishing: You said it right on the head. Obama if elected will be president in name only and Biden will be running the country. What a mess we will be in. Obama is a say nothing, know nothing and do nothing but speak on the platform from the speeches of MLK, JFK and RFK. For a Harvard graduate I wonder if they passed him thru to get rid of him because of his drug and booze habit. And I think he is a closet drinker. But its all going to come to an end. Obama wanted the Arena because of the crown that MLK drew and he wants to be like him. He is obsessed with copying MLK. If you screen him speaking at times he trys to sound like MLK. I hope that McCain wins a landslide to send him back to the senate.

I would love to see his grades. They no doubt passed him thru to get rid of him possibly because he was trouble in college with his drugs and booze.

mac,,,you haven’t heard of him because the press (contrary to what you may believe) has given Senator McCain a free pass on this… I don’t think he’s blown anything up…just encouraged hate – (which usually leads to crime)… maybe you should do a little homework…I’ll say this his connections to Senator McCain were much more intimate than that of Senator Obama’s association with William Ayers.
Posted by: karronna | Aug 28, 2008 1:57:54 AM——————————McCain has not gotten a free ride on anything. Obama wants the media all on him. Thinks that will help, then gets mad when people critisize him. They love Obama and are focusing only positive on him, but negative on McCain

One of Obamas favorites while growing up was, Malcom X. How many more clues do the american people need? These poor obsessed Obama lovers have been BAMBOOZLED. Theses are the folk who have been methodically conditioned by the liberal media/Hollywood in to passionately believing that some arrogant, condescending bigot, creep with zero experience is fit to be President. As far as Obama’s followup tonite, I’m sure his speechie will be good after all that is the only thing he has going for him but the debates with McCain will be the real test and BO will fail miserably as he does EVERYTIME!!! Nancy: You are right. Obama missed the senate about 130 times and when he said he was against the war he wasn’t there when the voting was done. He may have many of the people in this country fooled but not all. If elected Biden will be a good cover up for his dumbness as president because Biden will be running the country and doing all the work behind the scenes. Obama wants to be a carbon copy of MLK but he’s too dumb.

Lincoln didn’t face complex issues?
Slavery?
Dissolution of the Union?
Civil War?
States rights?
British support of the confederacy?
General McClellan?
General Grant?
His own Cabinet?
I’d say, with limited initial experience, Lincoln faced and met challenges at least as substantial as what we face today…. Experience matters, but the ability to learn and adapt matters more.

Steve from NH,
Is Lincoln’s accomplishments close enough to Obama’s? ….I don’t think so….you have to do more research….
Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865), the sixteenth President of the United States, successfully led his country through its greatest internal crisis, the Civil War, only to be assassinated less than a week after the war’s end.[1] Before his election as President, Lincoln was a lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, a member of the United States House of Representatives, and an unsuccessful candidate for election to the Senate.
As an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery in the United States,[2][3] Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president later that year. During his term, he helped preserve the United States by leading the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which passed Congress before Lincoln’s death and was ratified by the states later in 1865.
Lincoln closely supervised the victorious war effort, especially the selection of top generals, including Ulysses S. Grant. Historians have concluded that he handled the factions of the Republican Party well, bringing leaders of each faction into his cabinet and forcing them to cooperate. Lincoln successfully defused a war scare with the United Kingdom in 1861. Under his leadership, the Union took control of the border slave states at the start of the war. Additionally, he managed his own reelection in the 1864 presidential election.
Opponents of the war (also known as “Copperheads”) criticized Lincoln for refusing to compromise on the slavery issue. Conversely, the Radical Republicans, an abolitionist faction of the Republican Party, criticized him for moving too slowly in abolishing slavery. Even with these road blocks, Lincoln successfully rallied public opinion through his rhetoric and speeches; his Gettysburg Address is but one example of this. At the close of the war, Lincoln held a moderate view of Reconstruction, seeking to speedily reunite the nation through a policy of generous reconciliation. His assassination in 1865 was the first presidential assassination in U.S. history and made him a martyr for the ideal of national unity.

You’ve got to be kidding me….Hillary Supporter for McCain….

At least two studies have concluded that the United States’ foreclosure crisis was exacerbated by a 2005 law that overhauled the nation’s bankruptcy law. That conclusion is echoed by other experts, although the banking and credit industry disputes it.
Congressional Republicans drove the effort to pass the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) of 2005. But Biden – who has enjoyed hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from credit industry executives – endorsed the measure early on and worked to gather Democratic support for it.

The DNC is just a stage hollywood show. Both Hillary and Bill did nothing but tell the american people just how unquailified Ombama is to be President. Right through the summer months. Now they are telling us that he is qualified. How does someone go from unqualified to qualified in just under a few weeks. It is called pandering and saving political careers.
Biden said the same thing. Running through a primary doesn’t give the necessary experience need to run a country. The dems have a problem. The republicans will continue to use the words of Bill, Hillary and Biden for the remainder of the campaign. This will become a tough obstacle to overcome. Obama does have a very thin resume and does seem to be inexperienced. He may give a great speech tonight but again that doesn’t make him qualified.

Fox News is reporting that Bill Clinton is telling people off-record in Denver that Obama is a “Chicago thug.” Hannity betting Clintons will do all they can behind the scenes to make sure Obama loses, already planning Hillary’s run in 2012. Biden and Obama can’t stand each other, Obama was forced to take Biden to shore up natl affairs experience. Jamie Allman, 97.1 in St. Louis, reporting that tension on floor reached fever pitch yesterday. Some Hillary supporters threatening to walk off floor, Obama supporters pleading with them to stay. Jimmy Carter’s nerves frazzled, screamed at Rosalyn in the elevator. Harry Reid turning his back on Fox Reporters, won’t answer questions about surge in Iraq, claims Dems are a united Party. Some Hillary supporters laughing at the temple, referring to Obama as a Greek God. Obama supporters grumbling about “racist” Hillary supporters. Yep, this is a real united Party.

Neil – you keep making excuses for the Clintons. There is NO EXCUSE. Why ever should they be concerned about “party unity” when their own party stabbed them in the back repeatedly, selecting Obama months in advance? Hello? Anybody home?? Dont you think the last thing the Clintons should be doing is to help bail out a worthless Obama? Sorry, bro, but the Clintons though far better than Obama were WRONG in their support for the CHOSEN ONE.

Posted by: badger1 | August 28, 2008, 10:20 am 10:20 am

While both Hill and Bill gave great speeches, I am still not convinced that Obama is the one. I just had a hard time beliving that Bill was sincere in endorsing Obama and Hillary would not, she never once said that he was going to make a good POTUS.

Posted by: Shelby | August 28, 2008, 10:20 am 10:20 am

Huge miscalculation on the Clintons part to support Obama, unless,,,,,,, they know of something that will force Obama out of this race.

Shelby – You shouldnt have bought into any of what the Clintons said in their speeches. They both have made their true feelings known about Obama leading up to this race. Can you not see the writing on the wall? Obama was selected, not elected. IT was another strategic blunder on the part of the DNC, and now they need the Clintons to bail them out.

Posted by: badger1 | August 28, 2008, 10:27 am 10:27 am

badger1, I’m really sad about teh Clintons’ decisions but I still believe only the Clintons understand the American economy. Social Security is being paid with money borrowed from China. The USA doesn’t make enough money from tax payers the IRS only reports $400 billions a year. The USA owes $40 trillions with interests. There are 1000 billions in a trillion. There is no money for Social Security it has been taken for other expenses. The USA people don’t have as much savings compare to the rest of the world. The USA medical system is the most expensive in the world. The oil bought today is paid with money borrowed from China. The world considers China the new empire not the USA. When Mr. Clinton was President the USA was #1 in the world with the strongest economy. The Clintons left $500 billions surplus, a balance budget and the world enjoy peace. Too bad, Hillary didn’t fight to the convention floor what she truly believes in.

Posted by: neil1785 | August 28, 2008, 10:28 am 10:28 am

Overheard at the Convention: Olberman and Matthews yelling at each other. Yesterday Olberman and Scarborough yelling at each other. MSNBC losing ratings steadily, wonder why? No credibility with the public since becoming part of the Obama Campaign? Olblerman, Matthews & Co in meltdown mode. Blaming each other for MSNBC ratings problems. Fox News – moving up steadily as people tire of the Pro-Obama mainstream media. Loving this!!!

I also believe that Clintons may have a plan. These people are downright smart and calculating. They have PLAN A, B, C, and D ready for action. They’re probably just only buying time. I think something strange will happen this October, if not November…
Sen. Clinton contrasted against Sen. Obama after a convention coup makes her electable and a “Comeback Kid.”
The RNC & Hillary campaign have 2000+ pages of opposition research on Obama and no doubt Hillary has an “August Surprise” for Obama.
We still have to get past Obama’s birth certificate, allegations of recent drug use, and alleged Michelle Obama “whitey” video.
Not to mention Obama is losing ground with the jewish vote over an Israeli perception of a necessary “strike” against Iran’s nuclear program.
A possible “October Surprise” by the Bush administration either in Afghanistan or Iran makes Hillary look like the stronger Democrat candidate.

I am a life-long republican mom of 3 from Atlanta, Georgia. I was moved by Steve Spielberg’s tribute to our many men and women who have fought tirelessly to make our Country what it is today. But most of all, I am proud to live in the United States where we have the privilege to do and become whatever we chose to be. The “American Dream” what an honor for Barack Obama to be nominated as the first African American on the Democratic Party ticket. I am humbled, yet honored to call America my home. A place where dreams and opportunities, become realities. I know that if Barack Obama is elected our next President of the United States, he will be a good leader and he will lead this Nation into progress and prosperity. Something that no one had thought possible 45 years ago when Dr. Martin Luther King gave his “I Have A Dream” speech, is now a dream coming true for every American. I pray that all of us Red, White and Blue will unite . Every vote is important and we as a party need to unite. Let’s restore hope to America and let us unite together as one. God Bless Barack Obama and God Bless America.

Are you not aware of Obamas mentors growing up,, Frank Davis , Communist Party, Malcom X racist anti-american,, Saul Alinski radical left ideologue, etc etc. These are all easily researchable facts, and they only scratch the surface. Both Obama and his wife have made their disdain for whites a matter of public record. What is wrong with you Linda?? I find it absolutely hard to believe youre a lifelong republican. you should not be threatened by obama’s agile intellect or great education, which is what you mean by “elitist”; we can’t ALL edit the harvard law review; just because he’s brilliant does not imply that you are stupid; your redneck reaction to his brains does that very nicely.

On mothers day, Obama never mentioned a happy mother’s day to his white grandmother who raised him and donated $2300 to his campaign. She wasn’t invited to the convention like Joe Biden’s mom. She doesn’t get any press coverage, because he is too embarassed to be half-white. His book says he understood as a teenager he would ingratiate himself to white, if he acknowledged his whiteness, so he chose to ingratiate himself to blacks. Now we get to hear him turn every possible comment into a racist intended comment and he creates divisiveness. It’s sad how he forgets his biological white grandmother who raised him and paid for his school, and wasn’t even with his own mom when she passed. Sort of shows some insight to his real values.

Anerica needs Obama and Biden – working for their home states as senators. If those states, like them so much, let them stay with their states as representatives. The truth is that America needs McCain in the Whitehouse. McCain represents America’s values and he has the experience and qualifications. Vote McCain 2008

If you want same old politic vote for McCain. If you want young inexperience, needs Biden-Bin -Lying and Clinton-Ahmajed supports than vote for Obama Husien Bin Ladin. They will unite and the first country that they will unite is Iran.

If you would like the same old policies then VOTE FOR MCcain. We need some one who is capable of restoring our credibility in the ouside world. That person is BARACK OBAMA.
MCcain/Bush = The same old policies
OBAMA/BIDEN ’08————————-Why do you think the Democrats are so much better than Republicans? The Democrats had control of congress the last 2 years and have done nothing for the average person. And personally I think Obama=More of the same.

fulbright scholar calli laments:
“It’s sad how he forgets his biological white grandmother who raised him and paid for his school, and wasn’t even with his own mom when she passed. Sort of shows some insight to his real values.”
not to me, it doesn’t. so please, calli, enlighten me with your insights into obama’s “real values.”
i was raised by racist white parents, whose racism was based mostly on fear and ignorance and, they being basically decent people, at least was never translated into action. they used to be terrified that the blacks were “taking over.” their heads were filled with visions of an army of angry black guys with guns and knives marching through lily-white valley stream (as my hometown was known) and slaughtering every single white person unlucky enough to stumble across their path; i think that’s what all this stupid talk about obama’s “radical associations” or his “real values” boils down to, though of course none of you would have the courage to admit it. you don’t want to sound like a racist, after all!
you people are gonna have to come up with something a little better than ignorant speculations about obama’s relationship with his white grandmother, or his purple sister, or his polka-dot kindergarten teacher …
you see, calli, most americans don’t care about this crap anymore. thank God.

don’t be scared, neil1785—
when you have a frontal lobe, you’ll be able to reason; i mean, do you expect your poor brain stem to handle EVERYTHING?
