Bill Brings It
7:25 pm MT: All the right words from President Clinton tonight. He may or may not be over his wife’s defeat, but he showed again that he can bring it when it counts.
Essentially, Bill Clinton finished Hillary Clinton’s speech tonight: This was endorsement, plus validation (the part Hillary didn’t offer up on Tuesday).
And he answered the question he didn’t when ABC’s Kate Snow asked him it during his recent Africa trip:
"Barack Obama is ready to lead America and restore American leadership in the world. Barack Obama is ready to take the oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. Barack Obama is ready to be President of the United States," he said.
That’s your soundbite. As is typical, he went way over his alotted 10 minutes. But somehow I think the Obama campaign didn’t mind too much.
An unscripted moment: "Yes he can, but first we have to elect him."
And a clue to how Bill is coming to terms with this — notice how he sees Obama as a successor to his legacy:
"Together, we prevailed in a campaign in which the Republicans said I was too young and too inexperienced to be commander-in-chief," the former president said. "Sound familiar? It didn’t work in 1992, because we were on the right side of history. And it won’t work in 2008, because Barack Obama is on the right side of history."

I wonder if any of the Obama Supporters will have the decency to apologize for calling the Clintons racist and all of those other hateful names? Just wondering…

After working and defending black’s all there lives, the Clinton’s learned what the white working class, who have been forced by the Federal government to live, learn, work, and who have had there children attacked by black’s already knew. If your white you can’t trust the black race.

Bill saying Obama “hit it out of the park” with his VP pick tells you everything you need to know. A verbal wink that his speech was all BS. Except the part of defining Obama as a huge liberal.

No, the liberal wing of the party never wanted an apology. It knew nothing was done against african americans. It needed to bring Bill and Hilary down to zero to install O’Bama.
The sad story here is that it worked to perfection. Now, I know what O’Bama meant after the NH primary when he said he knew how to fight “chicago style”.
Worse, for all of the white kids who made history by taking up O’Bama’s cause, how long after the election will it be before they have to prove they’re not racists?
If Bill and Hillary had to prove it after 40 years of reaching across the lines of color, race, and creed, its only a matter of time for them.
As an African American, I have a my own dream. Its a take off of MLK’s dream. I hope when “little white boys and little white girls join hands with little black boys and black girls” they’ll promise that no matter what or WHO comes along they won’t let go!!!

Uncle Bill never left – AAs left him, without a second thought, willing to believe the worst of a President and a First Lady that has done so much for civil rights.
I cannot believe how my fellow AAs treated this man and his wife. If you wanted to vote for Obama, that was fine, but you didn’t have to tear these people down to do it. Bill and Hillary said in the beginning that they expected to lose AA votes because they too understood the want of AAs to have one of their own become president.
What they didn’t expect was the manner in which they lost the AA vote. Being called racist because Hillary said without LBJ, the civil rights bill would not have been enacted or Bill for saying that Jesse Jackson won SC. Both are facts, and you would have had to been racist yourself to find anything racial in those statements.
In the end, after all of the name calling and insults, Bill and Hillary were still there for each of you.

Biden just threw out the Obama stump about cutting taxes for 95% of Americans. Not only is this comical – considering the enormous spending he’s promised…but reminds me of the story created by an economics professor to illustrate the US tax system.
It seemed that 10 men decided to have a business lunch once a week. They always met in the same restaurant and the bill was always, $100.00, for all 10 men. If each man was responsible for his share of the bill that would be, $10.00, each. The men decided to divide the bill based upon their ability to pay. Using an agreed upon formula the following payment arraignment was worked out based upon income.
Men 1-4 who made the least amount of money paid nothing.
Man 5 paid $ 1.00
Man 6 paid $ 3.00
Man 7 paid $ 7.00
Man 8 paid $12.00
Man 9 paid $18.00
Man 10 paid $59.00
After several weeks the owner of the restaurant told the men that because they were such good customers he was reducing the bill by $20.00. Their delimina was how to divide up the, $20.00. If each person got the same amount then the first 4 men would be getting money back but they never paid anything for the dinners. After much discussion and no resolve the owner offered the following suggestion which they all agreed to.
Original Payment New Payment $ Amount Saved % Saved
Men 1-4 paid $ 0.00 $ 0.00 $0.00 0%
Man 5 paid $ 1.00 $ 0.00 $1.00 100%
Man 6 paid $ 3.00 $ 2.00 $1.00 33%
Man 7 paid $ 7.00 $ 5.00 $2.00 28%
Man 8 paid $12.00 $ 9.00 $3.00 25%
Man 9 paid $18.00 $14.00 $4.00 22%
Man 10 paid $59.00 $50.00 $9.00 15%
Once out side the men began to argue about the settlement. Man 5 said he only got, $1.00, while Man 10 received, $9.00. Men 1-4 were upset because the received nothing. They said that the cut only benefited the rich and the poor got nothing. They were upset so they beat up Man 10 and left him. The next week they met for lunch as usual except man 10 did not show up. When the new bill arrived the men discovered that between them they did not have enough money to pay even half of the bill.
Over 70% of tax revenues are paid by the top 5% of the population.

Well, LeeLee07, don’t know who you were talking to, but… for me, I can tell you that:
I’m passionate about my candidate, and equally passionate about the need to end the horrendous eight years we’ve experienced under Bush/Cheney and will continue to experience if the American people don’t use their heads and elect Barack Obama as our next President.
I’m passionate about all the things you probably haven’t been listening to over the past three days; things we won’t get — and worse, things that will be set further back under a McSame presidency.
So, if I and others react to your (and other repugnants and trolls) senseless attacks against Barack Obama using dishonorable repugnant talking points; or your equally senseless support of John McSame, it is our passion and our love for our Country that guides us.
No Way, No How, NO McSAME!!!

Too much propaganda from all sides. Who am I to believe? On the one side, they say that Obama is all good, all knowing; on the other, he’s simply a hollow tree. Why such a huge gap of fact and opinion? I have seen the man; I have heard his speeches; I have followed his policies; I have seen Michelle. He’s the most hypocritical candidate in US history. Who am I to believe but my own eyes.

Well, Fishmonger, there’s a difference between simple namecalling and pointing out hypocracy.
And LeeLee07, which candidate? Clinton or McSame? You are entited to your passion, but don’t try to pass it off as something it isn’t.
Since the Republican party-line now involves nothing BUT namecalling, I don’t need to apologize or backtrack on anything I have said.
