Clinton for VP? She Says Ask the Obama Campaign
ABC News’ Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton took questions from local reporters in Tamarac, Fla., Thursday and was asked twice if she is going to be on the 2008 Democratic ticket.
Clinton responded saying, “Anything about the vice presidential choice should be directed to the Obama campaign.”
Clinton said she is all about winning, and any tension between the two camps regarding the nominating process or the convention is nonsense.
"I think some people are trying to make something of what’s not there. You know we have worked through this. Both of us agreed that this would be in the best interest of our party and of the winning. I’m all about winning," she said.
Clinton attempted to make the point that she has gone further in supporting her formal rival than her predecessors.
"Most people who competed as hard as I did and did well, go to the convention with their delegates. They hold on to their delegates," Clinton continued, “they have a contested floor fight, they have a contested nomination fight they fight over rules or credentials or the platform, there’s lots of things to fight over. And that’s not what we are doing we are you know were really trying to respect and recognize the very strong feelings that the 18million people who voted for me had.”
When it was suggested to Clinton that she wasn’t being very enthusiastc about Senator Obama, she responded saying, “Well you know I’ve had a lot of people thank me for being so enthusiastic. You know you can talk to people and get a million different responses. I have done more for Senator Obama in the last two months than anybody in my position has ever done for a winning nominee and I’m very proud of that.”
Clinton also said that her work has been paying off saying, “I’ve been all over the country campaigning for him and making the case for him and I think it is having an effect.”

It is really simple, if he doesn’t choose Clinton, he’s not getting my vote. I will vote independent again this year. His selection of Clinton would show at least some bit of humility. We’ll see. But his choice will decide my november fate now.

The more you ask Obama to pick Clinton, the least willing he will be!!! Stop the madness and let the guy make his own decision. Do you really want a president who can even pick, by himself, his own VP? LOL!!!!

Whoever people vote for is completely up to them and their personal priorities.
I just hope that folks look around themselves and see what a term of Bush/Cheney on steriods will do for them.
Defeat evil? How many wars would that take and how much would each jack up the deficit that your grandchildren will hae to pay? Personhood at conception? That would outlaw virtually all birth control that disallows implantation. Corporate tax cuts to stimulate an economy that already ignores the middle class?
It’s your future folks. Vote as you see fit, but I beg you to look at the issues.

I just can’t see trusting Obama with this country’s problems, and future problems. I prefere Hillary but will vote for McCain. I can trust Hillary or McCain to put this Country First.

Debra and her whining, backbiting ilk really frost my behind!
Willing to put (as if they have that much control) McShame into office and subject our country to four years of ruinous Bush3 politics, including a likely super-conservative Supreme Court, further erosion of our constitutional rights and deepening ecomomic disaster, in order that Hillabeans will have an open (so she thinks) shot at the Presidency in 2012.
Should that happen, I will begin to work from Day One of the McShame administration (from November 5th, really) to ensure that Hillary Clinton is not able to get even close to the nomination in 2012. I’m sure others will join that movement.
Thankfully, for all of us, McShame WILL NOT be elected, and we will soon celebrate the presidency of Barack Obama.
Those of you who, for whatever bitter and selfish reasons, choose not to vote for him better not claim you did when your grandchildren ask what you did when the first black president was elected!!!

Nothing surprises me anymore. I don’t think Obama will pick Hillary, but even if he does, he still won’t win. He definitely won’t win if he picks Biden, Bayh, or Kaine either. Obama is behind McCain in the national poll, 46% to 41% and in the electoral votes: McCain 274, Obama 264. And now, more negative news breaking out about Ayers. Added to the fact that McCain will debate Obama three times, one of them being a town hall meeting….McCain will win all three. Everyone knows Obama can’t debate without a teleprompter. I think Obama knows he’s lost and is just hoping November gets here quick!

With all the unfair press and media support for Obama, his campaign spending at least 3-1 on advertising, a “World Tour” with photo opts, huge crowds, superstar treatment, Obama should be trouncing John McCain by now. So why isn’t he?
Respectfully, the polls are dropping for Obama because the people are questioning his leadership’s skills. Obama says John McCain is too old to be President. Mr. Obama, American’s have “loved and trusted” many older Presidents like Ronald Reagan who was age 71-79 while President. Obama stated that “John Mc Cain wants to serve his country, the same as I want to do”—correction again Mr. Obama, John McCain HAS served his country far and beyond the call of duty, and wants to continue this endeavor—never question his patriotism. The reason people are questioning your patriotism is not that you have a funny name (as you have repeatedly stated) they question your past and the people that have been your mentors for the last 20 years. They question legal documents (Illinois Supreme Court form for example) that you stated you have never gone by a different name. In Indonesia attending school your name was Barry Soetoro, holding citizenship in Indonesia and was listed as a Muslim (as your religion) on the paperwork. Has document been falsified by the Catholic Church? Most Americans do not care where you have lived, what school you have attended but they do want the truth—they do not want to be deceived. You said “do not question my patriotism”. Well Mr. Obama it is the “duty and responsibility” of each citizen in this country to question your leadership and patriotism and actually much more.

All I keep hearing it that it’s his decision. Excuse me, the guy was nominated to win back the White House, and if he can’t see the best way to win would be to pick Hillary as VP, then, that’s the sort of judgment we don’t need. That would be the “Audacity of Arrogance”. Some talk of unity and reaching across the aisle, if he can’t unite his own party. Remember, the guy didn’t win by much, and his win was much attributed to party activists who tend to be more liberal than most of the party. He needs to get over his ego and put party first.

Clinton won’t do as VP. She’s too divisive and 50% of democrats don’t like her. She and her husband come with too much baggage. Some of his income since leaving the white house has been questionable and some in complete contradiction to Hillary’s stance on free trade. I don’t like to use the word “stupid” but that is what Obama would be if he picked her.
I don’t understand why some Clinton supporters aren’t getting over her loss. Is it because of his race?

If the Obama camp are genuinely concerned about how they would ‘handle’ an ex-president- Bill Clinton- if Hillary was appointed VP, then how on earth is Obama going to deal with the many domestic and global crises which will present themselves to the new president and commander-in-chief. I think the WJC matter says a great deal about Obama’s insecurity and inexperience and such a person being president of the most powerful country in the world concerns me. My challenge to Obama is to appoint Hillary Clinton VP and show the world that you are confident of your abilities, a man who can not and will not be intimidated…not even by a successful ex president or a brilliant analyst whom you only just beat in the primaries.
Show some strength. The Washington landscape will eat you for breakfast if the Clintons have you worried.

You know a lot of you Obama supporters make no sense. I don’t enjoy beign called an idiot or saying I never supportered Hillary if I vote for McCain. I am not voting for him but Obama does not have my vote either. The funny thing is that out of one side of the Obama’s mouth they say if you don’t vote Obama you don’t support Hillary views since they were so close to Obama’s and then out the other side of their mouthes they say that she can’t be vp because she doesn’t blend well with his message and they don’t complement each other, which on is it Obama supporters does she share 95% of his view or does she not complement him and her views on polices wouldn’t go well with his message??
Posted by: rachel | August 21, 2008, 8:27 pm 8:27 pm
Fair enough, Rachel:
Their views are quite similar on most issues. She’s a little to the left on health care reform; he’s a little to the left on the Iraq war. But the Dems will win this year by offering substantial change, and putting a former president’s spouse on the ticket sharply dilutes that message.
My state’s primary was pretty early this year. I voted for Obama although I would have been perfectly happy with either Obama or Hillary as president over any of the Repubs, because I think he has the better chance of beating the Republican attack machine. That is still my focus.

Hillary has done WAY more than any other primary candidate has done for the victor. That should be recognized.
Now, Obama/Clinton…well? I don’t think so. Clinton should hope he wins with whomever he picks, but…
If he looses…. Hillary will win in 2012. I think she would have won this year…. People just don’t understand- The democrat es probably or maybe lost this election. Hillary would have won Ohio, West Virgina, IN, and FL… with traditional Blue states… Thus, the winner….
The republicans saw this a year ago… but the Dems just couldn’t see this…. why? I just don’t know.

Why is it so hard to acknowledge that Clinton would bring a net increase in votes to Obama. Doesn’t having a woman as VP qualify as change? Clinton didn’t just beat up on Obama — his camp did plenty of mud slinging. At least with these two, we’d have the qualities in the White House that could bring an amazing change to this country. I think if he doesn’t pick Clinton, he’s going to lose the election. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read the handwriting on the wall.

I am doing a write in vote for Jesse Jackson. Obama is a tragedy. He is a communist marxist. He is dangerous. His energy policy of windmills might take us to riots in the streets. He wants gasoline as high as possible so everyone is busted. Obama wants to take over this country and be president of a communist country just like Putin. Look it up. he was raised by Frank Marshall Davis who was a black proud man to be a member of the communist party of USA. Obama was so impressed by Frank that he abandoned white and embraced black even though his father was Arab. If you read Michelle University thesis you will find she is a radical separatist. She wants blacks and whites separate. She is angry with blacks who assimulate into white american society. She wants people to embrace black liberation theology where god is black and wants all white people dead. How could Michelle and Barack take their two girs ALL THEIR LIFE to a church preaching Dam America and hatred for whites.
Obama is not presidential material. Give him 8 more years to prove who he is then lets see if anyone is still interested in this revolutionary.

I also fail to think that people with experience need to be thrown out or dumped just for the sake of change, because low and behold many of them paved the way for people like Obama and I don’t like his message that they are not needed any more, these are just my feelings.

I voted for Hillary but after reading how she mismanged her campaign and seeing how poorly she acted after Senator Obama won, I wished I had my vote back. So when she says she is holding on to “her” votes, NO she’s NOT. There are plenty of us who have done what loyal Democrats are supposed to do. Migrate to the Democratic nominee and prepare to fight the REPUBLICAN in the November. Senator Clinton’s time has passed. It is my sincere hope that President Obama will have a great eight year run with a terrific vice-president who will then have eight years of experience under his/her belt and will become the presumtive nominee in 2016. THAT is what each LOYAL Democrat should be praying for each and every night between now and November.

Stop looking at a person’s party affliation and start looking at the person maybe then their will be real change. The premise that Obama is an agent for change is such baloney! What in the heck change are you talking about? He is only one voice out of many in Washington, and is he going to throw them out? No! He has used all of the old big guys in the Northeast to get to this point, and he will continue to use them. They can make fun of McCain’s age and say he is the same as Bush, but the American voters can see the big differences. Change is just a buzzword used to mesmerize too many peopl into thinking it means something big. It doesn’t. Obama is not strong enough, experienced enough, or wise enough to lead. Even if it were offered, Hillary should not tie herself to his upcoming loss. McCain has the experience and the judgement to make the wise decisions for all of the current crises we are dealing with.

The Enthusiastic gap is too big,
in 2004, even Bush and Kerry is dead heat before election, the bush supporters are very enthusiastic, but Maccain is not.
that’s the real problem.
usually 80% of registered voters go to the booth on election day.
and that depends on degree of people’s support.

I agree with whomever said any Clinton supporter who doesn’t vote Obama is an idiot.
What’s the alternative? McCain? Do you even know Hillary’s stance on the issues? they are virtually in sync with Obama’s whereas McCain is on the other side of the spectrum.
Also, Hillary has emphatically endorsed McCain. I too, want Clinton the ticket. I too was a Clinton supporter. I too thought she was treated unfairly by both the Media and the DNC. That said, not voting democrat is a true travesty and it makes me wonder if those Clinton supporters defecting to McCain supported her simply because she has a vagina.

If your thought process is that the Obama’s took their girls to that Church for years and they had to be effected by the Reverend views; does this mean you base that on the fact that many of your fathers would raise hell you if you came home from the prom with an African-American and after 20 years of hatred you can get over it? I mean if you can’t how could he, right? Because if you’re ok despite your parents prejudices then he can’t. Obama obviously doesn’t have the same superior intellect as you do!

I was a strong Hillary supporter and I still am a strong Hillary supporter. I really can’t stand Obama and his windbag talk. I’ve been on the fence for voting for Mccain. I want our first woman president in 2012 but I will still vote for Obama in November. Part of me hopes he loses.

Are you all nuts? Country first? I cant believe you buy into that crap. Im sure Rush Limbaugh has y’all singin’ Nobama and McCain 08 Hillary 12. What you dont realize is that they will throw you under the straight talk express once they’ve used your little movement to win the election for them? Why do all voters fall in love with the idiot? First it was bush and now McCain? You’re the same idiots from west virginia who bucked your party because for some odd reason the words Clinton or Bush make sense in your thick heads. You people have problems. I think they need to create Clinton Group Therapy sessions. Maybe a shrink can put some sense in your heads. At least, vote for someone like Obama or Nader. Heck, even Bob Barr is ok. But please dont vote the neocon into office.

Hillary was right, Obama is not electable.
The super delegates can pick either pick a winnable candidate or go with the media created Obama & lose in Nov.
Don’t say I didn’t warn them.

Today was a very sad day for Hillary. Her friend Congresswoman Tubbs passed away yesterday. Perhaps her enthusiasm wasn’t what it could have been today due to her mourning her friend. Obama is too immature to pick Clinton as his VP anyway. I don’t know why she is running around the country campaigning for him. He certainly wouldn’t do it for her if the roles were reversed.

Thanks georgia, thats what its all about. Everyone owns their own vote and should not be bullied into falling into the partyline. I mean if I dont beleive in the canidate I am not going to vote for them I don’t care if they are a dem. I mean what if John Edwards had got the nod and was the nomonee, would you still be expected to fall in line and vote for the man who cheated on his wife just cause he was a dem? and dont anyone bring up bill, because we would have been voting for Hillary and she was not the one who had the affiar bill was and its time people stop putting his indiscreations on her like it was her fault. People need to get over their blind party faith.

The more I hear idiotic comments by ex-Hillary supporters state they will vote for McBush, the more I get the feeling that these people are either not that bright, or their ego is so large the can’t tell what is at stake. A womens right to choose is a stake. The debt ballooning from 10 trillion to 20 trillion is stake. If you vote for Mccain make no mistake about it you are voting for continuance of BUsh policies. Hoping for something better is like hoping the US finds wmd?

I am sorry to say this, but I don’t think Obama is going to win. The Democratic party is going to be called the losing party. I guess its 3 times a charm. Maybe in 2012, when Hillary Clinton runs again, people will not be STUPID and they will vote for her, because she would win in a landslide. Wake up Democratic voters!! The Democrats should have picked Hillary Clinton, mark my words on that. I am just glad that I voted for her in our Primary.

Not idiotic but pragmatic. In order for Obama to win, he has to count the Hillary votes and w/o Hillary in the ticket, they stay home. Why question their loyalty to Hillary when Obama himself divided the party? Therefore, if Obama chooses another VP, there will be three kinds of voters: Obama Democrats, Hillary Democrats, Republican and the Independent are all taking sides between Hillary and Obama. Didn’t you notice polls have been closer than before?

Clinton supporters beware. If you do not vote for Obama you can expect Clinton political aspirations over. 18 million voted for her and so did 18 million for Obama. Don’t vote for Obama if that is your wish but just know that as an Obama supporter we will return the favor.

O,
Good run there, if that is your own material (not cut and paste) then I applaud you!
As A staunch Obama supporter and contributor throughout the primaries and now the general – I have a confession to make…
I fought tooth and nail against Hillary during the primaries and have continued to rail against the idiot PUMAs.
However, realizing this is a fight against pure evil – The Repuke-licans and we must win to CHANGE the country for the better – I admit that at this point I am almost starting to hope that the VP will be Hillary.
OK, I said it, go ahead and crucify me!
I would prefer Biden, but I am a Democrat and in this situation with the party split, I think (biting my tongue) Hillary would be the best choice right now….
Obama, get a food taster and banish Bill to Africa for the duration…..
OK I said it….
My feeling is that is what Obama is going to do in the next couple of days anyway! So PUMAs, get ready for Koom-bye ya!

Hillary Supporters feel free to support McCain.
Obama is going to lose in November and you might as well be with the winners rather than the losers(liberals).

Obama/Hillary is a total win-win ticket. I’d be really excited about that. But in order for that to happen, the two of them need to truly make amends.
If Obama is smart, he’ll pick Hillary. And not only will they have my vote, but I’ll work my ass off to get them elected!

I do not know if Clinton is the right choice for VP. Sure, one can make the argument that a lot of the Clinton voters would not vote for Obama unless Clinton is offered the VP. However, think about how many other voters, and including Obama supporters would not want Clinton as the VP. Choosing Clinton can be beneficial but it is a double edge sword. There are just as many people out there that dislike the Clintons, including within the Democratic Party.
I think the smart thing for him is to stay away from Clinton for now, and choose someone else. Have her rally for him, but keep his distance. A fresh candidate, someone independent like he said, someone influential but without all the baggage and skeletons in the closet that Clinton would bring.
Biden for example, would of been a good choice, though it seems he will not be VP, but someone like him. Someone older than Obama, with more experience, that is not afraid to confront the Republicans on debates, that is influential, and can help Barack make important decisions. Someone that is not afraid and able to defend the Democratic agenda.

Obama should pick someone from Time Magazine to be his running mate–they’ve done as much as anyone to support his candidacy!
It’s shameful the way these supposedly professional journalists are fawning all over Obama. Not WRIGHT for America suggests that Time change its name to Obama Magazine. They even have a mock up of what it would look like. http://www.notwrightforamerica.com

Pick HRC as your VP and you will take us to the White House. Don’t and it will be a critical error that will hurt the Democratic party. Get over you and think of US. I am voting for Hillary Clinton for President. (Write-in) I will vote for Hillary Clinton for Vice President. Obama,
(Mr. Uniter) what will it be?

I have to agree. After all, Michelle, when asked if she would vote for Clinton if Hillary won the nomination, replied, “I’d have to think about that.” And Barack couldn’t “remember” to ask his supporters to help pay off her debt, even though she was fund-raising for him. Loyalty seems to be a one-way street for the Obamas…and some of their supporters. Clintonistas should vote for Obama but if he loses, Obama supporters say they won’t vote for Clinton next time. One-way street! And I’m not going down it.

NEWS FLASH!
As a staunch Obama supporter and contributor here throughout the primaries and now the general – I have a confession to make…
I fought tooth and nail against Hillary during the primaries and in the general have continued to rail against the idiot PUMAs and of course the McCrazy’s.
However, realizing this is a fight against pure evil – The Repuke-licans. And we must win to CHANGE the country for the better. I have to admit that at this point I am almost starting to hope that the VP will be Hillary.
OK, I said it, so go ahead and crucify me!
I would prefer Biden, but I am a realist Democrat and in this situation with the party split, I think (biting my tongue) Hillary would be the best choice right now….
Obama, get a food taster lined up and banish Bill to Africa for the duration…..

Actually it would be nice for all those passionate Hillary bloggers I fought against during the primaries to be on our side – some of you guys are good! Way better than these Repuke-lican redneck McBumbler hate mongers out here now.
Doesn’t really matter to me anyway. Because like some famous VP said, the job isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit anyway. Also Obama fans, it is a way to neutralize Hillary and the Clintons until 2016. Then Hillary can run (if things are working out well) and take the Dems into 2024….
Obama/Hillary ’08! Ouch!!

Wow, what a bunch of negativity here. I was a Clinton supporter, she lost. Considering Obama came from almost nowhere to topple her, he deserves a closer look. I’ve given him and his policies (via his website) that closer look and am impressed. He’s also the most genuine politician I’ve seen. There is definitely a REASON people are flocking to him and supporting his GRASSROOTS fundraising. He does not accept $$$ from federal PACs–amazing! If you’re going to be so bitter and ignorant to ignore the justified mass appeal of Obama or act in prejudiced against his “funny name” or color, we will move forward without you. Hillary SUPPORTS him and so do millions of smart Americans. Count me in. I hope we can count you all in too. You might be surprised at what America could be after four years with such a change in politics… so drop the negativity and see what happens.

John McCain wants to reinstate the draft so our children can die for Exxon. McCain’s voting record on issues regarding our troops and veterans: It’s abysmal — do an internet search and read for yourself; McCain’s voting record on women’s issues: It’s abysmal — do an internet search and read for yourself — this is of particular importance to Hillary supporters who are thinking of voting for McCain — after reading his record, there will be no question that Hillary supporters should NOT vote for McCain. Do an internet search of McCain’s voting record on any issues facing Americans today, and you will see how time and time again McCain votes for the interests of big business, big money and rich people, and time and time again McCain votes to give the finger to the rest of us who are just trying to get by in this world and make a living. McCain does not care about anyone but the rich. This is an important vote this year. Don’t vote for McCain unless you want your children to die so the oil companies can rake in even bigger profits than the $1,500 a second they are earning today. McCain will kill your children for Exxon.

Personally what I want in a president is not one that makes his own decisions based off of his wants or needs but a president that is smart enough to listen to the voice of the people. I have always been taught that this is the job of a responsible leader. Who he selects as a V.P. will have an effect on all of us democrats, especially if his selection is a poor one. Hillary Clinton would be a wise choice. It seems to be clear that the people are in support of her. If it is all about change, then having a first female V.P is a large step in the “change” direction. Together Obama and Clinton could do wonders. No matter what Obama will get my vote but who he selects as V.P will determine if he maintains my respect and what he does within this term will effect my vote for him on a second term!

This is ridiculous. All of you, “If Hillary doesn’t get picked for VP, I’ll vote for McCain” and “I’m voting for McCain because Hillary isn’t in line for the presidential election anymore” people are ignorant. Policy-wise, Barack and Hillary are almost identical. Hillary herself has said that voting for McCain if you were going to vote for her would be a horrible mistake. People who do this show that they don’t actually bother to learn any of the issues and what they should really want. Though, I think that description covers about 95% of this country.
I honestly cannot see McCain being president, and the things that the Republican party are brewing up about Obama are ridiculous. He’s not Muslim, or Arab. He’s never been Muslim or Arab. He raised by his WHITE mother and WHITE grandparents. If anyone actually bothered to get a brain and do their research, they’d know that much. Instead, you all get your info from your stupid e-mail forwards and such. And anyone who is voting for McCain has no place talking about anyone switching positions on the issues. In my eyes, McCain was a tolerable candidate until he switched a bunch of things around to make himself suitable for the conservatives. McCain has changed positions more times than anyone else in the campaign. Google it. You will see. Policy-wise, he’s not any different from Bush now. Since Bush has been president, the economy has gone down the drain, the middle class has all but disappeared, poverty has sky-rocketed, and so has discrimination. Not to mention, bills can get all the way through to him and he vetoes them anyway. Bush is a power-hungry tyrant. That’s NOT a democracy. It’s a dictatorship. Wake up, America! As it stands right now, we’re so far in debt that within one or two generations, there will be no social security left. It’s very probable that your children or grandchildren could be living on the streets in their old age. This is, of course, assuming that the other countries don’t rise up against us and wipe us out. America is slowly becoming the least-respected nation in the world, and we’re quickly losing our place as one of the super powers of the planet. Civilizations rise and fall, and thanks to the Bush administration, our time is coming up. The more ignorance we as Americans partake in, the quicker it’s going to happen.
Do us all a favor and at LEAST look some of these things up before you head to the polls in November. Give me some faith in this country and its citizens again. Don’t be the stereotype. Don’t be one of those ignorant Americans. Don’t be another reason why none of the other countries like us. Don’t help America’s demise through ignorance!
