Clinton: If We Don’t Agree With the President, Call Michelle Obama

ABC News’ Eloise Harper reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton used to say that she was the one who could answer the phone at 3 a.m. and know what to do as president.  Speaking at the Emily’s List lunch, Clinton, after congratulating Michelle Obama for her speech last night, said if the president isn’t on her side — call his wife.

"I know a little bit about how the White House works," Clinton said.  "And, you know, if the president isn’t exactly on our side — call the first lady, and with Michelle Obama, we are going to have somebody who answers that phone."

Clinton also expressed how personal politics is to her, and when you run for office, you never know what you are going to get.

"For those who supported the women who have run — the women who are holding office — please remember that it’s not just about politics — it’s really personal. Because when you start running, you have no idea where the path will lead."

Clinton also had words of thanks for the group of women at the event.

"Your work is putting more cracks into that glass ceiling, and thanks to you, one day, it will completely shatter."

Too bad she had to reference Michelle at all. God Bless you Hillary. We’ll be there for you in 2012, after President McCain finishes his 4 years.
HILLARY SUPPORTER 4 McCAIN…EVEN AFTER THIS CIRCUS/CONVENTION

The more I hear from Senator Clinton the more I like her. The more I hear from Bill Clinton the less I like him. If Hillary can handle and stay with Bill for the past 30+ years then maybe she should of been the Democratic nominee.

Hillary was out campaigning for BO while he was bodysurfing…..next he’ll ask her to wash his windows!
She has done more than any Dem opponent in any election ever! No one can throw it up her face!
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN, EVEN AFTER THE CONVENTION.

I’ve read that comment by Clinton about three times already – I still can’t figure out exactly what she means by that “if the president isn’t on your side, call his wife ” thing.
My opinion of Clinton will not change between now and 2012. I wonder what the “Pumas” will come up with as an excuse when she doesn’t get elected then either.

A Hillary supporter for McCain is no Hillary supporter. She/he is a Republican. Those cracks into that glass ceiling… she doesn’t mean cracks in the Democratic Party, you know. If we allow that to happen, the glass ceiling might never break.

Vanessa,
That’s a good welcome change.

Posted by: fact check | August 26, 2008, 6:22 pm 6:22 pm

I was a Clinton supporter during the primaries but have decided to back Obama now. The reason is simple: a McCain presidency will be disastrous for the country — there will be more economic chaos and wars — and bad for us women. Note: McCain has said most unambiguously that he is a pro-life Republican and has vowed to appoint judges similar in ideological orientation to Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia, and John Roberts.
A VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN IS DEFINITELY A VOTE AGAINST HILLARY CLINTON.
If you are counting on voting for Hillary after four years of trigger-happy McCain, well, good luck, for I am not sure if we will already be fighting a third world war or a limited war with either Russia or China then.

Posted by: Chris | August 26, 2008, 6:23 pm 6:23 pm

I know its been said before but for the 20% of Hillary supporters who brag about voting for McCain (they’re gleeful about it) I suppose you don’t mind voting for someone who is prolife and will appoint a supreme court justice who will overturn Roe v. Wade? You don’t mind voting for someone who is opposed to universal health care? Is this a Hillary cult or is there ANY principle at all at stake? Do you believe in political parties and policies or are you wedded to personalities only? Tell me.

Posted by: Samuelm | August 26, 2008, 6:26 pm 6:26 pm

Hillary has done so much for this Barack and his cult for nothing and they are still blaming Hillary for not doing enough. I am Hill fan and i will never ever vote this socialist BHO guy.
Hillary can say anything, but i am the one decide who i trust. BHO is not trust worthy.
NOBAMA.

The DNC selecting Obama did not make him any smarter. He is still unqualified to be President.
Country before Party, Always!
PUMA!

Posted by: LeeLee07 | August 26, 2008, 6:50 pm 6:50 pm

Women who supported Hillary Clinton did so because they admired her – and her stand on the issues. There is no way that a Democratic woman who voted for Hillary is going to turn around and vote for McCain, who epitomizes everything that Hillary is against. These PUMA people are really Republicans whose sole job is to stir up trouble. They never really supported Hillary to begin with; reminder of the Swift Boat attacks on Kerry. Pay them no mind.

Posted by: Lisa | August 26, 2008, 7:10 pm 7:10 pm

Nobama, you are an idiot. The SCOTUS is one judge away from overturning your precious Roe v. Wade. No woman who cares about Hillary or women’s issues will vote to put McCain in office.

Posted by: cb | August 26, 2008, 7:23 pm 7:23 pm

what a nice change it is to see more reasonable comments on here than ones from the crazies.
for the hrc fans who have united with the party, thank you sincerely for understanding it is not worth cutting of your nose to spite your face. i have a great deal of respect and appreciation for you.
for those of you pumas who believe that john mccain won’t make roe v. wade a thing of the past (and i promise you, that’s just one of the many problems he will bring us), go back to listening to rush limbaugh and leave the thinking people of the world in peace.

Posted by: alm | August 26, 2008, 7:28 pm 7:28 pm

No one. NO ONE. Who votes for John McCain because HRC did not get the nomination should honestly be voting at all. The two parties have not been so diametrically opposed on issues in some time. John McCain is for war and escalation, he is anti-environment, anti-education, anti-choice. he wants to give tax breaks to the rich and raise taxes and reduce assistance to the middle class and poor. He thinks that more drilling will solve oil prices and that the economy is basically ok and we should stop whining. If that is what you have been in support of all this time then why were you supporting HRC in the first place? You are a Republican and thier convention is next week.

Posted by: Jason | August 26, 2008, 7:35 pm 7:35 pm

Gosh, for people who don’t know jack about us, you sure have a lot of friggin’ crap to send our way.
If we all have so darn much in common, can you tell me why Hillary Clinton’s name is missing from the Democratic ballot?
Hillary Clinton won 18 million votes and the battleground states, even after Democratic “leader” Nancy Pelosi encouraged her to drop out.
Barack Obama won 18 million votes and Kansas, and the DNC hand-picked him to be their Presidential candidate.
Joe Biden won 18 thousand votes, dropped out after Iowa, and was hand-picked by Barack Obama to be his Vice Presidential candidate.
Shouldn’t it be blatantly clear to everyone that the DNC is filled to the brim with a bunch of idiots?
Listen, there’s really only one Democrat who Americans trust the govern the nation competently, and it is not Ted Kennedy.
Ted Kennedy lost us in 1980.
Bill Clinton invited us back in 1992.
Barack Obama and Howard Dean just asked us to leave.
See ya.

Posted by: Jan | August 26, 2008, 7:36 pm 7:36 pm

If Obama loses and Clinton runs again I wonder what the PUMA excuse will be then? Because there is no way she will win if Obama loses. Hillary’s best chance is in 2016 AFTER Obama’s second term.
As for her quote. I now realize how much I dont trust this woman. I swear I think that’s her sneaky way of saying “hey white people, his wife will really be in charge, and you know how she feels about ‘whitey’ dont ya?”
LEELEE: Obama has 8 years more legislative experiance then Hillary. Find a new BS excuse please. That one is old.

Posted by: JN | August 26, 2008, 7:38 pm 7:38 pm

Do any of you PUMAs have any idea how far you’re setting back the women’s movement by your irrational and petty antics? You diminish the accomplishments of women like Hillary with your behavior.
Hillary lost because people want a new generation of leadership and because Obama ran a smarter campaign.
Grow up and start acting like adults instead of petulant children.

JAN: Please dont come back. DEMS dont want or need you.
Barrack is going to win with high turn out and Bob Barr being on the ballot. Barrack still leads when all candidates are added.

All these Hillary 4 McCain supporters are a bunch of Republicans. Look up who they donated to in the last elections and you’ll see where their true loyalties are.

Posted by: JMC | August 26, 2008, 7:42 pm 7:42 pm

let’s not forget HRC started her political career as a republican, and did not switch parties for any dep political epiphany, but because she saw she would not be able to get ahead in the GOP. Yes, she won 18 million votes, but lost the delegates. Her positions were weak and she and her husband played dirty politics at every opportunity. Her own mistakes cost her the campaign. Chelsea will have to be the next Clinto0n to run for Pres that might have any kind of chance.

Posted by: Jason | August 26, 2008, 7:43 pm 7:43 pm

My husband and I both supported Sen. Hillary Clinton. We were devastated when she lost. But after our shock, we picked ourselves up and we stand tall and proud with Sen. Obama. The people out there protesting and saying that they are Clinton supporters that are now supporting Mc Same, are people that I believe were hired by Rove. It sounds like Rove is driving this BUS!!!!!
Wake up people, if the dems do not get in this year, it will be the beginning of extinction of our party!
Peace!

Posted by: Judith | August 26, 2008, 7:45 pm 7:45 pm

Jan…Obama won the nomination fair and square. He had more votes and more delegates. If you don’t count the Rush Limbaugh votes for Hillary then Obama won by even more. There is a name for Hillary supporters who won’t accept that she lost…”sore losers”!

Posted by: diane | August 26, 2008, 7:46 pm 7:46 pm

Keep in mind Hillary supporters, if she is seen being to blame for an Obama loss, do you honestly think African Americans like myself would ever vote for her in the future? Making up 13% of the US population she can’t win without us.

Posted by: John | August 26, 2008, 7:47 pm 7:47 pm

Hmm? All of these so-called Hillary for McCain people all sound the same, almost as if all of these posts on all of these websites are coming from the same source, like they are reading from a script. I wonder why? Could it be that this is part of the McCain campaign’s insidious plan to create friction where there really is none? I have met plenty of Hillary supporters, and they are all planning on voting for Obama.

Posted by: Taj | August 26, 2008, 7:49 pm 7:49 pm

Does anyone really think Hillary will ever be president if Obama loses? She’s going to be blamed if he’s defeated and will lose the support of the black community and other Obama supporters, her only hope is for him to win with what appears to be her help and then she can win the election in 2016

Posted by: axt113 | August 26, 2008, 7:50 pm 7:50 pm

DLM, Vanessa, hillfany, fact check, LeeLee07, NOBAMA… You guys are a bunch of republican morons. Spiteful, vindictive, stupid republican morons without an ounce of intelligence. You have no values. You will vote for something your nominee worked her whole life to end. And Jan, the reason why Hillary’s name is not on the ballot is because she knows how important this election is for her to ruin the party.

Posted by: GOBAMA | August 26, 2008, 7:55 pm 7:55 pm

Roe v. Wade aside, what about the millions of Americans that still won’t get healthcare under a McCain administration? What about the millions of Americans that will fall farther and father behind as the rich keep getting richer? And how many more Americans have die in a war without end?
There is absolutely no excuse for any Democrat, Independent or even Republican who cares about the future of this country to consider not voting for Obama.

Posted by: Barb | August 26, 2008, 7:57 pm 7:57 pm

Taj and GOBAMA are right that these alleged Hillary supporters are Republicans which means they are not morons. They are just deliberately trying to keep the feud going which helps the Republicans.

Posted by: cb | August 26, 2008, 8:03 pm 8:03 pm

I understand what’s at stake in this election.
McCAIN =
(1)the draft +
(2)World War III +
(3)continued economic disaster +
(4)taking away women’s right to choose +
(5)invading a sovereign country +
(6)negative perception of the world about America +
(7)appointing judges to overturn Roe v. Wade +
(8)richest Americans getting richer (dissolution of the Middle Class).
Why are so many Americans so dumb to be standing by McCain?

Posted by: Concerned Citizen | August 26, 2008, 8:05 pm 8:05 pm

I guess it’s perfectly okay to you idiot PUMAs that McCain joked about Chelsa being Hillary and Janet Reno’s love child? Or that he sat quietly when one his supporters asked him “How do we stop the bitch”? Or that he offered his wife to join in a topless beauty pageant?
PUMAs: you’re an embarrassment to yourselves and all women, especially Hillary.

GOBAMA,
I’m an Obama supporter. Just b/c I’m pro-Obama doesn’t mean I have to be anti-Hillary. Hillary has moved on. She’s ready to unite this party. It’s Bill. It’s Bill Clinton taking this way too personal. I seriously doubt Obama would act this way if it were Hillary whom won the nomination.

Posted by: Vanessa | August 26, 2008, 8:07 pm 8:07 pm

I am dumbfounded with people who have made this whole process about them. There are those of us who believed in a president Edwards, or Biden or Richardson or Clinton. It defies logic and reason, and frankly, these folks are too ignorant to be part of a rational debate. Let’s take back the country first, then you all can go sulk in the corner and have a tantrum of not getting your way. I hate to break it to you, but people are dying because of the decisions we make… if you can complicitly elect John McSame, the blood of soldiers are on your hands. Shame on you.

What a disgrace! Those women are straight-up lunatics, calling Barack a Muslim and spewing other garbage lies they have been fed by the Repuke-licans!
They lost all credibility, as their leaders are just bona fide KOOKS! And to think I thought they might be reasonable, but just misguided women before this…
Take a look:

(I had to split the address because apparently ABC doesn’t like that site!)
Then the PUMA protest march, WHAT A JOKE! There were only maybe 100-150 PUMAs there. Where were the one MILLION we were promised??
You Hillary PUMA sore losers are about to get sidelined by HILLARY herself in a couple of hours! She wants Obama, and the rest of us want Obama for president as well!
If after tonight if you are still posting your cr*p on these blogs, it is time to start calling you what you are -Republican spies trying to split the Democrat Party!
Because we all know with a candidate like McSenile, that is your only hope of winning in November!!!!
As far as McBush’s ads in the last couple of days playing Hillary against Obama… Can you say “BACKFIRE” you Repuke-lican idiots??

Almost to the point of calling her a cheap hussy the way you make it seem she is selling herself out at the convention. Seriously who are you sick people? Shame on all of you so called Hillary supporters, I voted for her, but I will not deny her voice and the reason she entered this race. To better our lives, not just the lives of woman but our children! Shame on all of you hateful people. If you really want to vote for McCain fine, you never were for Hillary, you saw an opportunity to ruin her and her good name and you took all the good she did and spat it right back at her. Maybe if she campaigned without the advice of Bill, the better she would have been, but things have gone a different direction – but Hillary still has a chance to be the bright symbol we wanted her to be. But no you are sullying her. PUMA & Hillary Voters 4 McCain are nothing but hateful Republican wolves in sheep clothing.

Then, all of you Hillary supporters who voted for McCain better pack your bags and head out to every state where there will be a fight to take abortion rights away from women. Speaking to ALL WOMEN who are acting like petulant children – GROW UP.
I am sick of everything that we accomplish as women being forgotten, in the dust of all the gleeful Republicans and the rest of the world, saying look at those women they can’t take losing, and they sulk and pout “unfair”.
I wanted Hillary to win, but her campaign couldn’t close the deal. She couldn’t lead her campaign, and it was in a disarray. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have another chance to run again, or to strive for another leadership role.
You uneducated crazies out there, need to realize, that McCain is going to screw our country EVEN WORSE than Bush. He is an idiot who doesn’t even understand the enemy, doesn’t understand the events that lead to the Sunni Awakening, He doesn’t support the troops. McCain got a grade of “D” from the Iraq & Afganistan Veterans of America. Obama got a “B+”.
McCain voted against the GI Bill, he voted against the energy bill. The Rpublicans have been talking about an energy poicy for 8 years, and they haven’t done squat. But not that it’s becoming urgent at the pump, they can only shout “Drill here- Drill Now” When it’s a known fact that we only have 3% of the World’s Oil reserves. This will not do anything to get the supply of oil increased, especially since the refinery capacity is limited.
There are serious economic issues, we have soldiers dying for a war that doesn’t lead anywhere. Stop being selfish, and start thinking about the needs of the rest of the country, and stop thinking of your hurts.
And for THOSE racist, uninformed Repugs, you can try to masquerade as disenfranchised Hillary Supporters, but it’s a waste of your time.
Stop believing the lies and the hype of John McCain. Get a brain, open your minds, STOP watching FOX NEWs and watch a REAL NEWS channel like PBS McNeil/Leherer News Hour. There you will find the true facts and real analysis. Not lies and propaganda masquerading as news.
We need to stop the dumbing down of AMERICA! Or this country is heading for the toilet.

Hillary = the war in iraq is wrong (though she did support it at first)

Hillary = windfall tax on oil companies
mcshame = more tac cuts for multi billion dollar profit making oil companies
Hillary = pro national health care
mcshame= anti-national health care
etc

With millions and millions of people having lost their homes and health care? With Roe Vs Wade overturned? You are nuts. Hillary isn’t a monster. She’s a caring public servant and she wants what is best for this country. She’s not evil and that is what it would take her being to want this country to become what it will become with McCain as President. Hillary is one of the greats. My goodness, this experience excuse does not work for me. If experience is the one category that makes or breaks one’s qualification, why don’t we get the oldest, the longest serving public servant, senator, or representative? Wait, until recently, it was Storm Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Ted Stevens. Republican crooks! Judgment is more important than experience. The fact that Iraq is now demanding a timeline for withdrawal indicates to me that Barack Obama was right all along.

McCain 46%
Obama 44%
Added to this, Obama is only leading McCain by 10 electoral votes. It’s great that Obama did not get a bounce with BIGMOUTH Biden. And now, the Archbiship is denouncing Biden and Pelosi. It’s over for Obama Bin Lyin and ByeByeBiden. They will be watching President McCain make his victory speech!

PUMA??!! People Under Mental
You are a sad lot, completely unable to detach yourself from the emotional “loss” of the primary and now seek to get revenge by voting for McCain — going to great lengths to justify your actions with flawed logic devoid of reason. It wasn’t Obama that ran the negative campaign. It wasn’t Obama that played on fears with the “3 am phone call” nonsense. And it wasn’t Obama that prevented Clinton from setting up any campaign structure beyond Super Tuesday. No, it was Clinton’s campaign that failed to realize they would have to campaign beyond February. Clinton believed she was a lock and will be the first one to tell you that it was her strategy, or lack there of, that lost the primary.
Get over it. You are acting like little children throwing tantrems. Want to vote for McCain – go ahead. If he is elected and the country continues its steep decline — I’ll expect all of you to own up to it. Know that you had a chance to rip the controls away from the Neocons and war/oil profiteers but decided not to because your candidate did not win the primary. Pathetic.

I truly cannot believe that people who have supported Hillary can now vote for John McCain. Do you even know what Hillary stands for? It is certainly not what McCain stands for! He first talked against torture then changed his mind and didn’t vote at all on it; he proposed a reasonable immigration bill with Sen. Kennedy-then when conservatives bashed it-he didn’t show up to vote for his own bill. He missed 8 votes for the environment-yeah, he’ll be pro-environment-sure. He didn’t show for the vote on Medicaid or equal pay for women (saying he would have voted against it even if he had). He is no-show McCain -he’s against a woman’s right to choose and can’t tell you how many houses he owns. If he is pro-military, why did he never propose a bill to support military families or improve the conditions in army hospitals. Barack did that.
If you supported Hillary for any other reason than just the fact that she is a woman, you can only logically vote for Barack Obama. He supports the same causes she does. McCain is more of the same=voting 90% with Bush when he decided to vote. A vote for McCain is a vote against our children, against women, against the working class, against everything Hillary stands for.
Work to vent your anger in positive ways-run for office yourself. Support women candidates locally or statewide. But get over it, show some maturity and do the right thing-Vote for Barack.

I am so tired of hearing Hillary supporters say they will vote for McCain. As a woman who supported Hillary, you should be ashamed. A vote for John McCain is a reversal of all the things that most women in office having been fighting for, including Hillary. As McCain has not voted for equal pay for equal work, or the fact that he insists that he will over turn Roe V. Wade! Not to mention the fact that he has proven himself a womanizer with little or no respect for women. This is the same person who suggested his wife take part in the Miss Buffalo Chip contest, which is one of the most a sexist, mysogynistic events I have ever seen. So do us all a favor, if you are going to vote for him do it. But do not use Hillary as your excuse for doing it, because she clearly stated that she does not want any of her supporters doing so. But the rest of us women who are supporting Senator Obama have decided that the women in this country deserve more than being a pawn in the McCain campaign. Therefore when we cast our votes it will not only be for Senator Obama it will be for all the little girls who are not yet women, and deserve the right to choose what they want to do with their bodies!!

I get the impression that the PUMA’s are maybe new to the whole process of how voting and selecting candidates, etc, gets done in this country. The fact is, Barack Obama played fair and square in the primaries, he honestly won more votes, and therefore he is the nominee. End of story! If Hillary Clinton had won more votes, then she would be the nominee. She didn’t, though it was a close race between strong candidates.
Ladies, the Olympics were just on. Did you notice that ALL the athletes were talented, and in every case, some were basically neck and neck in their scores–and only one could win. Are you saying the same thing about Michael Phelps’ amazing 1/100th of a second win over the second place swimmer in the 100 meter Butterfly? Should we all protest that Michael got the gold, since the other candidate also tried hard and swam well? The rules are the rules, or we don’t have any process at all.
Barack Obama won. You can support him IF you actually support Hillary Clinton–who has worked alongside him to basically pass the exact same legislation. Or you can be really stupid and vote against your best interests as women and as citizens (unless of course you make more than $5 million a year like McCain), and you will see further erosion of your rights, your children’s education, your ability to pay the bills, your healthcare, and your standing in the world with McCain.
I think anyone who supports Hillary Clinton should be doing what she asks and voting for the party that she belongs to and honors.

Posted by: Fiora | August 26, 2008, 9:37 pm 9:37 pm

These people who are ready to elect McCain over a case of sour grapes are just plain stupid. Extremely stupid. When you try to talk sense to them, they’re like a 5 year old who just puts their hands over their ears and yells “I can’t heeear you!!”
Having been a fervent supporter of Obama this whole time, I’m gonna tell you right now that if Hillary somehow STOLE the nomination at the convention, I’d be mad as hell, ***but I would still vote for her because the #1 priority is to NOT LET MCCAIN INTO THE WHITE HOUSE***. I’d worry about how Obama was wronged later. I wouldn’t let my whining, immature, temper tantrums get in the way of our freedoms and a new direction for our going-down-the-tubes-under-republicans country. Wake up and stop acting like petulant 2 years olds who’s ba-ba has been taken away and vote for the person who’s platform is nearly identical to the person you’d prefer to have the nomination. Your choices are either to do that, or prove what a moron you are by voting for McCain or staying home.

Posted by: Sean in DC | August 26, 2008, 9:38 pm 9:38 pm

By the way, we’ve had one other president who’s only experience was that of lawyer and state legislator. His name was Abraham Lincoln. He proved that being a good president is more about the way someone thinks, a common sense approach, and the talent to surround oneself with the right people. This “OMG, he has no experience to be president because he hasn’t been a senator or governor for umpteen years!” stuff is BS.
What’s that you say? Times are different now and Obama has to deal with issues like a war going on? Huh, well, Licoln seems to have ended a war that was fought in his own back yard. Oh, and he ended slavery in the process.
Maybe he should never have been elected because he wasn’t “experienced” enough. (rolls eyes)…

HIllary understands what the PUMA’s do not: a loss by Barack Obama with the current democratic tailwinds would transform Hillary from DNC darling to radioactive Nader. Just like Nader in 2000, the party would blame Hillary. You would see the democratic money run so far and so fast from her, it would make your head spin. It would be the end of any real hope Hillary has for national political office. And that is why you still see the republicans attempting to stir up the PUMA’s. They aren’t trying to stop Obama – they are putting the final stake in the political career of Hillary Clinton. And her most ardent supporters are leading the way to her own destruction.
Frankly, Hillary deserves better.

Supporting McCain is a slap in the face to women everywhere, to peace, to prosperity, to change, to anything you truly hold dear (unless you LIKE illegal abortions, abstenence-only sex education, having your children drafted to support endless wars and making big oil and the top 1% of the population that much richer while your paycheck gets smaller).

And that too in one of the best speeches I have heard. If she wants her supporters to support Obama then they should because if Obama is elected President Hillary will have the influence to get some good things done for the American people.Hillary may even play an active role in Obama’s administration. So really her supporters shold remember that and not waste their vote and not vote for McCain which is voting for another 8 years of Bush – a trillion dollary debt

As the dust settles, it’s becoming clear Mark Penn and Bill Clinton were most responsible for all that was ugly and classless in the HRC. How tragic- Their antics made it absolutely impossible for Obama to select Hillary as Vice President. I’m for any plan for repayment of Hillary’s debt which involves stiffing Mark Penn for his $6.5 million. Let the Republican party pay Penn’s debt- he works for them, after all.

Second, if you did indeed support Hillary and now support McCain, please know that a vote for McCain is a vote against everything HIllary Clinton has stood for all her life. It would be an offensive slap in the face against her. It would be saying that you care NOTHING about what she cares about. It would be saying that you care NOTHING about the rights of women. The point of my original post is that these alleged “PUMAs” are in fact republicans conducting their usual mischief. Lots of exclamation points (!!) Lots of ALL CAPS. Lots of hot air. Not particularly sophisticated.
They are just floating around looking to destroy Hillary and Obama in one fell swoop. Because they know if Obama goes down with all of the advantages the democrats have this election season, the resulting backlash will destroy Hillary as well. Two for one.

If you believe in balanced budgets, are you going to vote for someone who says they’ll give everyone tax cuts (and disproportionate ones to the rich), or just those middle class and below? How can you be for HRC and vote for McCain as the alternative? So irrational.

Your Answers:
Gosh, for people who don’t know jack about us, you sure have a lot of friggin’ crap to send our way.
If we all have so darn much in common, can you tell me why Hillary Clinton’s name is missing from the Democratic ballot?
Answer: There can only be one nominee and that is Obama. Obama has a right to choose the VP of his choice, as does Hillary, if she were the nominee. It is not your choice or my choice for that matter who someones decides to take on as a partner. It is not a law to take your opponent as your VP. Besides, Bill Clinton did not want his financial given to the Obama camp for vetting. So why not ask Bill.
Hillary Clinton won 18 million votes and the battleground states, even after Democratic “leader” Nancy Pelosi encouraged her to drop out.
Answer: If you truly had an open mind and invested time and research, you too would have known that Hillary could not win the nomination because she could never catch up on the pledged delegates. Regardless of what you wanted, the rules were set long before these primaries. You just choose to be mean spirited and not acknowledge what you know to be true.
Barack Obama won 18 million votes and Kansas, and the DNC hand-picked him to be their Presidential candidate.
Answer: He won more pledged delegates, the DNC knew the rules, all the candidates knew the rules, you want to make it seem like he was picked only because it makes you feel better. You do not appear to have any convictions on playing by the rules. You are selfish, it is not about Hillary to you at all!
Joe Biden won 18 thousand votes, dropped out after Iowa, and was hand-picked by Barack Obama to be his Vice Presidential candidate.
Answer: Winning the nomination gives you that right to select who you want to be your partner. Blackmail sure doen’t make strong men or women fall into line, like you all have attempted to do to Obama with the demands. Who do you think you are? You will only serve to hurt yourself while hurting the rest of us in America. However, I pray that there are enough people in this process to ensure a democratic president.
Shouldn’t it be blatantly clear to everyone that the DNC is filled to the brim with a bunch of idiots?
Answer: No it isn’t. But it should be blatanly apparent that a woman’s scorned will always destroy herself in the process of attempting to destroy those that she believes have done her wrong, regardless of whether that is true or not. She will not eat or sleep until she gets revenge. How sad, I am so happy as a woman, I have passed that stage in life. It was hell, inretrospect to see how foolish I was to make revenge a necessity only to hurt myself in the end. But you go ahead, you’ll learn just like I did.
Listen, there’s really only one Democrat who Americans trust the govern the nation competently, and it is not Ted Kennedy.
Answer: I guess that would be a Clinton. There you are wrong again. I think you miss the fact that Obama also received over 18 million votes, and his standing all across the world in very favorable. You see, you really don’t see or want to know the facts, it is that your heart has been broken and you want revenge. Go get it girl!!!! I just pray that it is enough of us seeking a better America for ourselves and our children that we will overcome and win in November.
Peace to you, seriously. You seem to be in turmoil right now.

Hillary is a proud mom, a proud senator, a proud Democrat and a proud American. What about a proud wife??
Answer: Why would she be a proud wife when her husband sabbotaged her campaign? She is not stupid, the PUMA’s that run around talking about what the media did, what Obama did, are attempting to misplace their blame and anger, but Hillary knows the truth. Bill is the one that cost her this job. So why would she be a proud wife. After this she maybe a divorced woman working on health care issues at the White House with Obama.
Hillary is very smart, she may not say it out loud but she knows Bill mess up her opportunity to become president. Why are the PUMA’s not rally around Bill with a 2 x 4 board?

Hillary is a great senator and spokeperson for many women’s issues. But, she was wrong about Iraq, wrong about welfare reform, and wrong to support her husband’s continued sleezy behavior (e.g., Kazakhstan trip, etc). The country certainly does not owe her the presidency. Barack is a president for the 21st century whose policies and agenda address our country’s desperate need for renewal. The Republicans and neocons have nearly distroyed this country and a McCain presidency would put the final nail in our coffin.

Posted by: phyllis | August 27, 2008, 2:00 am 2:00 am

Hillary nice job! She is absolutely right our agenda is what we all have in common as Democrats despite whether you like Hillary or Obama. PUMA we welcome you and hope that all differences can be put to the side, so tat we can focus on the bigger picture, and those are all the issues that we all have in common. Also my fellow Democrats, the folks in here that are doing their best to keep us divided are nothing but Republicans and should be ignored. Democrats United!

Hillary, Hillary, Hillary, to make reference to Michelle Obama indicating she will answer the phone is rediculous. I know it may get traction for your PUMA people. A couple of things come to mind:
Spoiled brat – can’t have my way, won’t say what the truth is, I lost and Obama won. Bill, retire with dignity and no whining.
PUMAs – REPUBLICANS – always were and are distant surrogates for McCain organized by Carl Rove, Rush Limbagh and other Republican idiots.
Remove these people from the picture then you will have unity in the democratic party.
Don’t believe anything that CNN or other media souces spew out as it is biased in any direction they see fit.
Hillary, nice lady, grow up.

After watching HIllary Clinton speak tonight and she was very clear that a vote for McCain is the opposite of everything she stands for – if her ‘supporters’ are going to vote for McCain than let them. They show their ignorance and they must be the bottom dwellers of the party. Anyone with a brain who supported Hillary will support Barack Obama, they are almost identical in their agenda. This is all about a temper tantrum and stomping of feet for someone who didn’t get their way. There is always going to be these kinds of people and they should pull over and drive in the slow lane where they belong. We can afford to lose their vote because of all the new democrats who have registered. It’s pathetic.

Hillary Rosen said that Hillary wants her hard core supporters to understand she is not their therapist. they need to get behind Obama and get the republicans out of power in 4 months not 4 years. Hillary said this is not about her. It is about the children she has fought a life time for. We can’t wait 4 years. Get a therapist.

Posted by: lila | August 27, 2008, 2:50 am 2:50 am

hey Democrats
Don’t get upset about these fake Hillary supporters pretending they’ll vote McCain. No real Hillary supporter would EVER vote McCain, and no Dem would either, especially because if they supported her, then they support him since they stand for the same policy, and since she just ASKED them to vote for him in no uncertain terms.
No, these are Republicans, lying and scheming to irritate you, just like last time and the time before. Don’t let them, not this time.

I do not understand, I hope someone could explain it to me like I am a two year old.You voted for Hilary during the primaries and now will vote for Mc Cain, but Hilary and Obama mirror each other on most political positions. Then the only reason why you do not support Obama is because of the color of his skin. Plain and simple.

Posted by: nanton | August 27, 2008, 4:42 am 4:42 am

American first and I will vote for Obama it’s just that simple…Hillary is one hell of candidate and that too is just that simple.

Posted by: army193 | August 27, 2008, 5:39 am 5:39 am

I supported Hillary in the primaries and now support O’bama for President. It is clear those posting here who claim to be Hillary supporters who will vote for McCain are actually republicans doing there usual “dirty tricks” routine.

Posted by: Christy | August 27, 2008, 5:50 am 5:50 am

The PUMAS have to come to the democrat party because they know there will never ever be a female canidate for president in the republican party or an AA canidate from that party either.

Posted by: Pumas/Republicans | August 27, 2008, 6:53 am 6:53 am

If you’re voting for McCain then you share nothing ideologically with Clinton. I agree with Maher on Larry King the other night – “Americans will get the leader they deserve, and Americans don’t deserve very good leaders.”If you vote for McCain, you’re getting exactly what you deserve. Anyway, how does one go about immigrating to Canada?

Posted by: wordman | August 27, 2008, 7:28 am 7:28 am

Obama is a disgrace. He’s embarrassing. Michelle is a carbon copy.
What is wrong with the media.
What are they afraid of?
Race comments?
Examine and report on Obama. The media should for all over this presidential candidate.
Obama’s HOPE message is that he can pull this off
He keeps changing his mind……..that’s his CHANGE message.
Rezko the criminal.
Ayers the domestic terrorist.
Reverend Wright the racist.
Obama for President?
Wake up Democrats!
Obama is a Chicago con
He’s no American hero.
He’s risky, scary, radical and has no business representing our country.

Posted by: Al from NJ | August 27, 2008, 7:31 am 7:31 am

How can you call yourself a Hillary supporter and vote for Mccain. That goes againist everything she stands for! That is just illogical. I love Obama, but if he were to lose, you would be the first person to complain about his policies!

Posted by: Kate | August 27, 2008, 7:48 am 7:48 am

There is a process to the nomination, Obama won, get over it. I voted for Hillary too. Now I am voting for Barack for the sake of our country and our children.
Being spiteful because you didn’t get your way, putting our country in peril as revenge, only gives the remainder of ego-laden men holding women back reason to believe they have just cause.
Do PUMA’s think you will accomplish anything by having stereotypical hissy fits and getting yourselves fooled into voting for a man who called his wife the C-word in front of reporters? By voting for a party that endorsed Bush and now claims Barack has no experience! A party that hails Bush, the man who claimed God spoke to him and led him to strike Iraq but now wants to label Barack as thinking he is a Messiah! That wants you to think of Barack as the anti-christ when Bush already fits the bill. THIS? is the party the PUMA’s will migrate to simply because someone with a Va-jay-jay didn’t get the nomination. The country would be laughing at you (trust me the McCain camp is howling)if it weren’t for the stupidity of your wrath.
Grow up, get over yourselves, do what is right for the country!
Maybe instead of paying for a trip to Denver to spew your venom at TV cameras the money should have been used for therapy to get over your man/ex-husband/Daddy issues.

The fact that the Pathetic PUMAs think that they will have a chance to support Hillary in 2012 if McGoo wins in 2008 is another illustration of their self-obsessed delusions. If McGoo wins Hillary and her minions will be blamed for the loss!!
If the PUMAS are interested in women being treated equally, they must learn that part of being equal is learning how to be a gracious loser and a team player. If they cry, stamp their feet and blame others after a defeat, they reinforce the stereotypes of being overemotional and hysterical females.
Those who think that women have to win all the time to be equal give feminism a bad name.

Hillary was simply wonderful last night.
And Obama is going to be a fantastic President! Enough said!!!!!
Peace!

I cannot understand the rationale of these people that call themselves Pumas, other than they are republicans in Democrats clothing. Get over it people, Hillory lost. In the primary there will be a winner and a loser. She thought the primary would be over after Super Tuesday, but along came a guy, fairly new in politics, and beat 2 of the most EXPERIENCED politicians around. She and her husband. He is young but brilliant. If he had lost i would have been disappointed but i would be behind Senator Clinton 100 per cent. Wht don’t you stop bitching, whining and acting like a spoiled child because the primary did not go your way. If you are a true Dem you will put aside this attitude and vote for Obama if you want to vote for and old man who should be relaxing in 1 of his 10 homes or condos, that is your right. But why don’t you put up or shut up. STOP BITCHING.

Posted by: Joan | August 27, 2008, 9:44 am 9:44 am

That’s actually a great idea. There’s a wonderful story in the whole Raoul Wallenberg saga where he reached out to the wife of one of an official who pulled a Lysastrata and got her husband to block some of the deportation actions by threatening to “go home to mother.”

Puma’s are NOT democrats.

no i dont think so, more like
SPITE OVER REASON!

Posted by: bhrandon | August 27, 2008, 9:58 am 9:58 am

If Barack is an empty suit, McCain has to be an empty head. We all know is the silly season where people will say just about anything to help their person to get elected. I really don’t think people are going to be tricked by the Reps, Bushwacko, the Supreme Court, and McCain this year.

Posted by: Lawrence | August 27, 2008, 10:00 am 10:00 am

With “supporters” like those who will vote for McCain, Hillary does not need enemies. Wake up you people! Her future in politics depends upon Obama getting elected. Don’t be duped, used and abused by the Republican party.

Posted by: Hoo-Ahh! | August 27, 2008, 10:00 am 10:00 am

Those people should be expelled from the convention. They clearly are not Democrats.

Posted by: Hoo-Ahh! | August 27, 2008, 10:01 am 10:01 am

I believe that we are paying too much attention to a bunch of disaffected attention seekers. It is time to let them go and let them vote for whoever they want to, thats their right. we are empowering them too much.Unlike Hillary they are not a class act nor they are true feminists at all. Quite simply they are embittered selfish women that unfortunately perpetuate the stereotype of women as irrational and overly emotional beings. They trully belong in the republican party. PUMAs what it is in a name. A predatory and ruthless killing machine…How rovelian. Lets move on together those of us that care about something more than ourselves… our kids future for example…

Posted by: jose | August 27, 2008, 10:13 am 10:13 am

I can’t believe a woman who was excited about Hillary’s successes could turn around and vote for someone like McCain who is clearly not a woman’s candidate – he doesn’t represent or standup for issues of concern for women, and he’s exhibited some very anti-female behavior.
I agree, probably republican trouble makers are involved, or agitated fringe voters.
They are entitled to their opinion… but they should go to the convention that will represent their interests if they want to vote for McCain.
It’s getting annoying at the democratic convention to keep hearing about hostile former Hillary supporters, they’ve decided to opt out, so fine – but quit being a dog in a manger and trying to spoil our excitement for our duly elected candidate.

Posted by: Citizen Voter | August 27, 2008, 10:21 am 10:21 am

Sure Puma’s, go ahead and vote for McCain. Maybe he’ll offer you up as a topless dancer like he did his wife at the Harley rider convention.
I don’t see how ordinary self-respecting women could support this kind of a man – who abandoned his wife to fool around with a rich younger woman? He’s publicly been extremely crude to her. If he can’t treat the women in his personal life with more respect why would you expect him to do it nationally? He could give a flying hoot about women’s issues.

Posted by: Disgusted | August 27, 2008, 10:26 am 10:26 am

Senator Clinton made a great speech at last night’s convention, she did everything that was expected of her and urged her supporters to join with her in supporting Senator Obama for POTUS.
Some of her supporters did not quite hear her call for unity in defeating Senator McCain. Some of her supporters still do not understand that the primaries are over and Senator Clinton lost.
When the candidate herself acknowledges her support of the winner how can the candidate’s supporters still be so adamant as to vow to support the republican candidate? Something weird is happening here!
Jose is spot on in his analysis.

Posted by: Yaa | August 27, 2008, 10:39 am 10:39 am

God help us all, No way, no how, no McCain. Like Hillary said, “We are Democrats 1st and cannot afford to continue the Bush policies.” The issues Hillary ran on were basically the same as Obama’s, so how can you shun him and vote for McCain who cares nothing about the low and middle class and especially nothing about women’s rights. McCain has consistently voted against the minimum wage. Think about it, if you vote for McCain you’re voting against everything Hillary was running on!

Posted by: MOH | August 27, 2008, 10:46 am 10:46 am

MOH, Well said. It is scary to witness the illogic of the views of some people. Hopefully they are in the extreme minority. A vote for McCain is clearly a vote against Hillary, against what she so notably stands for, against the future of our sons and daughters, against the very principles that America stands for. Did I hear someone call BO a socialist?? Where the heck does that come from? Will America vote to hurt itself again in spite of all logic? in spite of all her spirit, and ideals? Please god, don’t let it be so.

Posted by: WoodyIV | August 27, 2008, 10:59 am 10:59 am

Anyone who says they support Hillary Clinton and then votes for John McCain is a liar. You are a Republican trying to split the Democratic Party because that is the only way the GOP will win. I am 55 years old. I have read, “It Takes a Village”. I have followed Hillary’s career. Who do you think you’re kidding? People who say “I was going to vote for Hillary but now I am voting for McCain”!!?? It’s an insult to this trailblazing woman! Who do you think you’re kidding. Go back to the GOP and leave us alone.

Posted by: Marie | August 27, 2008, 11:57 am 11:57 am

No matter what Senator Clinton says in her pro Obama speeches… it doesn’t make Obama into an honest person. He lies on TV about Rezko and Ayers. He voted to give immunity to companies who were spying on Americans.
No Obama is not Presidential at all and Hillary can’t help him on that.

Posted by: JosieJo | August 27, 2008, 12:06 pm 12:06 pm

If we don’t agree with President McCain
we should call Michelle Obama? Why?
No Way! Just Say No to Obama!
No You Can’t!

Posted by: reaganfan | August 27, 2008, 12:51 pm 12:51 pm

Here’s the tragedy: If you so-called Clinton supporters can’t get behind the nominee of the party; maybe you are REALLY the folks caught up with the cult of personality!!! I mean, if you can’t heed the words of Sen Clinton whenit comes to McLame’s oppostion to “equal pay for equal work,” or his oppostion to legislation opposing violence against women, what about his views on healthcare, familyleave, SHOULD I CONTINUE??? I guess you really never cared about those issues, and I guess if YOU DON’T GET YOUR CANDIDATE EVEN IF THEY SAY OTHERWISE; YOU REALLY DON’T RESPECT SEn. CLINTON. PLEASE DON’T THINK TAKING YOUR FRUSTRATION OUT ON YOUR DAUGHTER GRANDDAUGHTERS, ETC WITH YOUR SUPPORT OF McCAIN!! HILLARY WILL NOT BE THE NOMINEE IN 2012!! DO YOU THINK WE WILL FORGET??!! HELL TO THE NO!!!

1)For “DemocratNoMore2″ (for this relief much thanks):
How is either Obama or his mother a Communist? Get whoever wrote out your letter for you to look “Communist” up and see what it means. And I wouldn’t worry too much about the “Communist President” Putin; He’s not a Communist, and the Communists polled in single digits in the last Russian election.
2)For “Al from NJ”:
You gave us an interesting trio connected with Obama; how about this for McCain -
Keating the S & L crook.
Hagee the ayatollah.
Charlie Black, Randy Scheunemann & the Lobbypimps (#1 group on the corporate Top 10).

Posted by: diogenes | August 27, 2008, 2:46 pm 2:46 pm

According to Randy Rhodes, you PUMAS are all Republicans. Unlike you muck rakers on the right, she does her research. She compared a picture of some of the “so called” Pumas with some pictures of Tom Delays staff from the past. They were one in the same!

Fellow Democrats! Let’s face it – they’re playing with us. True democrats are, by now, united behind Obama. The supposed Hillary supporters for McCain is a fictitious group, a creation by republicans as part of their campaign. Anyone who has ever listened to Hillary and know what she stands for, cannot support her and then turn around and support McCain. It’s all nonsense! Let’s not fall for it anymore. Concentrate on those who are still democratic voters in the making, and make sure they know what is at stake.
