Clinton Mum on VP Chatter
ABC News’ Eloise Harper reports: If Senator Clinton has any indication that Obama wants her on the ticket, she sure isn’t letting on to it.
Today Clinton is touring the New York State Fair, as she often does. She is holding a brunch and then will walk around the fairgrounds.
It was over a year ago that Clinton, the then democratic frontrunner, was eating pork on a stick at the Iowa State Fair. Today the New York Senator might be sampling some fried Oreos or other local treats.
The former first lady was in Florida campaigning for Obama yesterday, and refused to answer any questions about being on the ticket. Subsequently she didn’t verbally express any interest in that possibility.
A recent CBS/New York Times poll stated that 28% of convention delegates prefer Clinton as Obama’s Vice President, which is higher than any of the other possible VP contenders. But aides to the former Democratic candidate refuse to speculate and are directing all questions to the Obama campaign.

So this is a story about Clinton not saying anything.
Well, I guess it goes with all the other stories about Bayh, Biden and Kaine not saying anything, either.
Somehow I think we’ll know when Obama tells us, which as his campaign has been saying all week, would be later today.

I hope it is not her so Obama can lose and w ecan get back to Hillary winning in 2012 becoming the first woman president of this great republic.
Obama can lose his Senate seat in 2010 because Illinois voters don’t want Obama because of extremist positions of letting infants die after born-alive during botched abortions.

Regardless … SENATOR CLINTON ’12. She was robbed by the press, Dean, and Pelosi this time, hopefully, in four years, Pelosi will have been impeached for crimes of ignorance, and Dean discounted for his stupidty for contributing to the demise of the Democratic Party this election.
Senator Clinton, if offered – please reject it! The ticket would be so out of kilter – should be Clinton on top!
We’ll just have to deal with McSame for four years and maybe Huessein can have time to decide what he really stands for, where his heart really resides, maybe he will remember any sermon his preacher shouted over the past 20 years, decide what his real name is and why he changed it, and maybe even trace his roots and spend some money on his many siblings residing in territories unknown! May God Bless America and Hillary Clinton – Champion for the People!

McCain, a war hero who was held prisoner by the Vietnamese for over 5 years, has a lifetime of foreign policy experience, not including the over 5 years the war hero spent as a POW in Vietnam. John McCain, former POW and war hero, also happens to be a war hero who was held prisoner by the North Vietnamese for over 5 years.
McCain is a war hero, do you hear me????
McCain was a POW. He doesn’t like talking about it
Posted by: bud day | August 22, 2008, 12:13 pm 12:13 pm
and in case anyone isn’t paying attention and is kind of ignorant about history, mccain is incapable of being anything more than an average president, but he is more qualified than obama and his record strongly suggests that he is no dubya….and i’m a democrat who believes kerry would be running for re-election right now if mccain was his running mate in 2004….
Posted by: chris | August 22, 2008, 12:15 pm 12:15 pm
furthermore, a kerry/mccain ticket back then would have the effect of slowly destroying the anti-American factions of the republican party, whose members include dubya, cheney, rumsfeld, etc.

While being a war hero is VERY admirable … how does that make him more qualified to lead a nation? I have never understood this argument. Perhaps Webster’s should change the definition of experienced and qualified?
I like the comment about Hussein suddenly having gray hair on top of his hair – not at his roots. Another snafu, of many, tactic gone wrong???
Posted by: volboi | August 22, 2008, 12:18 pm 12:18 pm
Yes, being a war hero and a long time senator doesn’t give him the experience to be president.
But being a community activist does! Lol.

As a reminder, there are 140 undeclared super delegates remaining, FL and MI will now be seated at full strength. Something tells me we are going to see a balloting back-and-forth with a huge surprise on Wednesday with Hillary as the nominee.

Of Obama’s total delegate count with supers, that pushed him over by the way, at least 100 were originally for Hillary in the beginning but switched over to Obama in the interest of “unity” when the primaries ended. Ask yourselves, especially in light of Rendell saying he’ll ballot for Hillary, if you really think the super delegates who were with Hillary are not going to switch back at the convention. Of course they are.
Posted by: jbatterson | August 22, 2008, 12:28 pm 12:28 pm
Also, of the 55 delegates Obama “won” by the fraud at the DNC, for the “uncomitted” vote on the MI ballot, including four of Hillary’s delegates, are rumored to e switching back to Hillary. Imagine you’re a John Edwards delegate who didn’t like Obama, and had a slight prference for Edwards over Hillary. At the convention, how are you going to vote?
Posted by: jbatterson | August 22, 2008, 12:31 pm 12:31 pm
It is my hope that the Democratic Convention turns into a complete circus with Hillary landing in the center ring and Hussein, Pelosi, and Dean tossed in the left behind side / freak shows!

the Clintons should be ashamed of their behavior – how they ran the campaign and racked up debts they now expect others to pay; how they have not gotten behind the democratic nominee even though Obama’s politics are the same as Clinton’s; how they would rather see Obama lose than win… shame on them. If I were Obama I wouldn’t give either Bill or Hillary speaking opportunities at the convention – they haven’t earned the right. PUMAs – grow up.

Official Net Worth: McCain $36.4 Million, Obama $799,000
Well, at least we know that Obama is not the “Elitist” both Hillary and John McCain tried to Label Obama as..Huh
Obama and his Wife Michelle just recently paid off their Student Loans, to Columbia, Harvard, Princeton Universities and moved in to a well deserved Home in a Chicago Suburb.
Obama also believes He an his Wife, who both make MORE than 250,000 per year as well as Other Americans whose Yearly Salary Exceeds 250,000 per year, should also be TAXED HIGHER…
McCain Does Not believe in taxing the RICH !!!

Official Net Worth: McCain $36.
4 Million, Obama $799,000
One of the clumsy arguments that the McCain camp tried to make today in hopes of slowing down the media freight train over not knowing how many homes he and his wife, Cindy, own was that Barack Obama (D) is also a rich guy who lives in a mansion himself, just like McCain. I believe the term they used was “a frickin’ mansion.
”
Well, there’s just one problem with that argument. These guys aren’t even in the same class.
Earlier this year, the nonpartisan Sunlight Foundation did an analysis of the net worth of each of the 535 members of Congress based on their personal financial disclosure.
Guess which one is worth about $36 million and which one is worth $799,000?
According to my trusty calculator, that means McCain’s net worth is more than 45 times greater than Obama’s.
So much for that argument…
Mark Nickolas is the Managing Editor of Political Base, and this story was from his original post, “Official Net Worth: McCain $36.

Americans could care less who is richer, who owns more houses, blah, blah, blah. We want to hear solutions for the banking and housing crisis, the escalating threat of war in the Caucuses, what the candidates plans are to revitalize the American economy. So far, Hillary has put forth broad plans, and while I don’t always agree with him, so has McCain. The people over at the Obama campaign, all they seem capable of doing is pointing their fingers, passing the buck, blaming everyone else, and being really lackluster in the polls.

No single couple has done more to destroy Obama’s chances of winning in November than the Clintons! And her supporters, many with hidden agenda of racism written code, are following their reckless example. The Clintons provided McCain his road map for victory through their vicious “kitchen sink” negative campaign ads, all for their selfish ego. Strange that the Clintons and their irrational backers still have the temerity to be insisting that Hillary be on the ticket. If Obama is stupid enough to do this, he is toast–especially to the millions of young people who followed his dream of creating a new, more hopefu, more positive paradigm in American politics. The Clintons will never be loyal to Obama. They are ruthless egotists consummed by selfish desires. We don’t need that! The more reasonable Clinton supporters have longed joined the Obama team. That is the kind of support he needs.

Pumas, Be alert!
“No Pledge for single term by Maccain”
John McCain stated unequivocally in an interview with Politico on Wednesday that he would not pledge to serve only a single four-year term, rejecting a suggestion that some allies believe it would allay questions about his age. “No,” McCain said flatly, “I’m not considering it.”
Posted by: zen | August 22, 2008, 12:46 pm 12:46 pm
The reason Obama is stalling so badly on naming his VP pick is because he probably had already decided on someone a couple of weeks ago who falls in the same category as him: young, inexperienced, weak on foreign policy, etc. etc.
Then the Russia/Georgia crisis emerges. He quickly changes his mind, and decides on a running mate (other than Hillary) who has strong foreign policy credentials.
Then all of a sudden the national race tightens, key battleground states start swinging McCain’s way, and he learns that at least 50% of Hillary supporters are not pleased with him as their candidate.
So now, he is having MAJOR second thoughts once again about his choice, and might even be leaning towards Hillary.
And I’m sure with the next national/international crisis, he’ll have to change his decision all over again.
Can you just imagine this guy having to make split decisions on behalf of the entire country on a daily basis????

Right now 45 million are without health insurance. So, as a starting point we already know that 15 to 20 million would remain uninsured under BO’s plan. Okay, so with the deepening economic crisis hitting America, and more people losing their jobs, “electing” to receive coverage will no longer be an option for the millions who would want it under ordinary circumstances. That’s Change alright! Change in the wrong direction.

John McCain can’t remember who his pick for VP is. Those senior…or mecacca moments are hard on John. Did you know he was POW? He doesn’t like to talk about his POW experiences. If you ask about his POW experience, he will only talk a little about when he was a POW. ABBA, Green Bay Packers and the Steelers kept John going when he was a POW. He can’t remember which order to keep them in, but he isn’t expected to tell the truth because he was a POW. He forgot how many houses he had because he was POW.

I wonder what Obama’s housing plan is to allow Americans to “elect” to remain in their houses. Oh that’s right! He wants to apply a fiscal band-aide on the issue by calling for a $50B housing fund to help homeowners. Applying 50B to solve a multi-trillion dollar fiasco is not change folks. That’s like the FDIC having an available balance of 54B to insure our money in the middle of a banking collapse. It’s preposterous!

I would hope the voters are smarter than to believe that their politicians are on an even par financially with their “fan base.” Get back to policies because when it comes right down to it, McCain or Obama are not going to pay my bills for me so WHO CARES HOW MUCH MONEY THEY HAVE…..BECAUSE ITS NOT COMING TO ME OR YOU..

Jbatterson, the best way to solve the “mortgage crisis” would cost taxpayers NOTHING: Make variable rate mortgages illegal and require ALL existing loans to revert to the interest rate they carried on the day they were written. Then, add a temporary provision that would say all payments are current to this date. If the borrower KEEPS missing payments, it’s HIS fault.
It IS that simple.
Posted by: Rhys | August 22, 2008, 1:05 pm 1:05 pm
Oh, I forgot one other provision: Not only make variable rate mortgages illegal, but also “balloon notes”.
These requirements would END predatory lending! And they would cost the taxpayers zero.

NEWS FLASH!
As a staunch Obama supporter and contributor here throughout the primaries and now the general – I have a confession to make…
I fought tooth and nail against Hillary during the primaries and in the general have continued to rail against the idiot PUMAs and of course the McCrazy’s.
However, realizing this is a fight against pure evil – The Repuke-licans. And we must win to CHANGE the country for the better. I have to admit that at this point I am almost starting to hope that the VP will be Hillary.
OK, I said it, so go ahead and crucify me!
I would prefer Biden, but I am a realist Democrat and in this situation with the party split, I think (biting my tongue) Hillary would be the best choice right now….
Obama, get a food taster lined up and banish Bill to Africa for the duration…..
My feeling is that is what Obama is going to do in the next couple of days anyway!
So PUMAs, get ready for Koom-Bye-Ya!
Actually it would be nice for all those passionate Hillary bloggers I fought against during the primaries to be on our side – some of you guys are good! Way better than these Repuke-lican redneck McBumbler hate mongers out here now.
Doesn’t really matter to me anyway. Because like some famous VP said, the job isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit anyway. Also Obama fans, it is a way to neutralize Hillary and the Clintons until 2016. Then Hillary can run (if things are working out well) and take the Dems into 2024….
Obama/Hillary ’08! Ouch!!

What I DO see is that when he chooses somone else, that at the convention the SuperDelegates and the floor vote will hopefully make Clinton the nominee. McCain cannot win against Hillary Clinton. If Obama is the nominee, McCain will win the Presidency, regardless of who Obama picks. Obama is imploding as was predicted…”empty suit, no substance!”

Is it me or that I’m watching a slow-motion movie about a ship going down in the middle of the ocean. I want to feel good about this election but I don’t. After 8 years of President Bush, I felt we had a wonderful chance of winning the WH. However, the way this drama is playing out, I feel like I’m being jerked around. He’s the leader of our party and he should be engaging us but it seems it’s all about the media and how long they can wait for the VP pick. in the meantime, his people, I mean his party, is involved in a cat and mouse game with him and the media. I want to vote for a democrat in November but the longer this is going on and Obama’s arrogance in perpetrating this game, I may not. Grow up and be straight forward with your party Pick the VP and make it someone that will help you win in November because if it’s someone that we don’t know much about or someone other than Hillary, we will lose, AGAIN!!!

You do realize that The Clintons want him to lose? Surely nobody could be naive enough to believe they would prefer an Obama administration to a good chance of their return to the White House together in a short four years.
They want him to lose but it can’t appear to be their doing. He knows that but he needs the Clinton voters. If you put this in a book they’d say it was contrived. By the way – you won;t hear this kind of commentary on the nerworks.
He’s got two options. Option 1: win. Option 2: make her VP and a. win or b. lose and hope that when she runs against him in 2012 that having been second diminishes her enough so he (Obama) gets another shot.
Posted by: Jacknyc | August 22, 2008, 3:36 pm 3:36 pm
Obama, yes please pick Hillary. With her as your VP you are almost certain to lose. There is no way we want Bill anywhere near the white house again and that includes his wife. He disgraced his presidency and the white house. If you do choose her you will see our party energized and focused on defeating you. And believe me we will do it.
