Democrats Proudly Plan to Play AGE Card in Toledo Tomorrow
Democrats are eagerly sending around a story from the Dallas Morning News, reporting that "mischievous Democrats" are planning on meeting Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in Toledo tomorrow, on McCain’s 72nd birthday, with a cake with 72 candles on it.
The Ohio Democratic Party says, "The party will feature a birthday cake with 72 candles and a mobile billboard featuring a photo that tells voters everything they need to know about John McCain — and his eager embrace of George Bush’s failed policies, with the message, ‘Does This Look Like Change To You.’"
Says the Morning News: "Not a poke at McCain’s age, certainly not, a national party official insists. You’d put 20 candles on the cake for a 20-year-old. Shouldn’t you put 72 candles on the cake of a 72-year-old?"
This coincides with a Democratic convention week where speakers are trotting out all sorts of senility-conjuring language when describing the GOP nominee: "old," "tired," "asleep at the switch," and "kindly Old Doc McCain."

Sen. DeMint: GOP Race Could Go Until Convention
Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
I mean, he is old. What should they do? Lie about it and say he’s only 50? Age matters a lot. Does someone in those years really have what it takes to take on a job that is perhaps the most enduring? Do we want to trust someone w/ the nuclear football whose advisers are lobbyists for Georgia and who will in no uncertain terms declare war against Russia and thus bring back the draft? This guy is a warmonger. I’m sure he doesn’t like wars. But the fact remains that wars are all that he’s grown up in. He certainly doesn’t have the tempermanet… just ask his GOP buddies who say the idea of a McCain presidency sends fear through their “spines.”

Biden will be 66 years old on Nov 20th.
If Joe Biden was running for President, his age and health would be a question.
The senility angle?
I think that’s just people trying to explain why Candidate McCain acts nothing like Senator McCain.

I don’t understand this. I consider John McCain’s age, wisdom and maturity a plus, not a minue. I’d be willing to bet most older people (the people who consistently show up at the polls) agree with me.

I love it when the Democrats make the senile jokes, etc. It does so much to inspire voters over 50. Kind of like when they call Hillary supporters racists. I know being called a racist certainly inspires me to jump aboard the Obama Express. I really have to compliment Obama supporters in their efforts to inspire the rest of us.

It doesn’t matter that he’s so old, just that his ideas are so old, stale and outdated.
The world has changed and left the Republicans and McStale behind.
No wonder they’re running such a rancid campaign.

To counter, John McCain will bring out his 90-something mother to illustrate his longetivity. She’s smart as a tack, mind sharp as ever. Good gene pool, I’d say. Democrats alienating older voters . . . . good move. Keep it up!!!

I am in my 70′s; go to the fitness club every day and work out;eat right and see my doctor for checkups at least twice each year and take my meds plus run a small business. I take warm baths before going to bed so I drop right off to sleep.
I know my limitations. No one at the age of 72 has the right to undertake the physical and mental demands imposed upon the President of the USA. If elected, McCain would be cheating the country.
Anyone can guess from this posting that I have lived a full life but no longer have the sharp mental faculties I once had. McCain shares this trait also.
God bless the USA.

I don’t think Geiorgia started the war to get mccain the Presidency but I do think that McCain’s lead foreign policy advisor was the lobbyist that made the situation a hundred times worse by lobbying for the Georgian government during a time when Joe Biden and others were telling them they needed to quiet their rhetoric and behavior.
I think Scheunneman who is the lobbyist/Mccain’s lead foreign policy advisor gave them cover to taunt a dangerous Russia so suddenly we have to get their back.
Mccain is so the wrong person to be President now. ugh.

I have to say every person I know that is John mccain’s age says THAT is the reason they either aren’t or don’t want to vote for him.
They know they have their limits…small as they may be…but limtis that are important enough to make them feel nervous if they had to be in that powerful of a position.
and the problem is…that it isn’t that it’s just because he is that old…
it’s that his gaffes and his behavior show that their SHOULD be concern about that.

Oh get over it with the war in Iraq am tired of all the belly aching, after 9/11 everyone wanted some kind of pay back for what was done, now the way some Americans are acting you would feel most of them were vocal in not wanting any war.
Even the great VP Biden was an advocate for the war, but Obama will not mention that he would only make a fuss when he was running against Hillary that she wanted war, so why is he giving Biden a free pass on his stance?
Obama is nothing but a hypocrite and would say and do anything to win

First they arrest an ABC News producer for taking inconvenient photos of big Dem donors at the Dem Convention.
Now Obama’s supporters try and censor radio programs who dare to report about Obama’s relationship with the unrepentant domestic terrorist, Ayers. Ayers on 9/11. “I wish I could have bombed more”
Welcome to a glimpse at an Obama presidency. Sounds like the old Soviet Unions style tactics of shutting down free speech. So when Obama supporters start trying to attack McCain about his age, someone should point out to Obama that his idea of change appears to go back a lot further than McCain’s age. Karl Marx anyone?

Kathy,
Here is Obama’s quote on this.
Obama: “It is wonderful to be back in Oregon,” Obama said. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.”
Posted by: terry | August 28, 2008, 5:10 pm 5:10 pm
Joe, The question is why are Obama’s supporters trying to stop the media from covering the story of Obama’s long term ties with, Ayers, an unrepentant domestic terrorist? Any time the story about Obama and his ties to Ayers comes up Obama supporters start the name calling, “swift boating” “smear tactics” “liars” etc. The story would probably go away if Obama would just refute any untruths that are contained in the stories instead of using what some call “economic terrorism” in an attempt to suppress the stories. Obama supporters are making thousands of calls to radio stations and thousands of e-mails to web sites that are covering the story in an attempt to stop the story from being covered. Obama’s lawyers have filed a criminal action complaint in the Dept of Justice in an attempt to shut down an ad about the Obama Ayers relationship. What is most troubling about this is that Obama’s reaction to this story may be a preview of how Obama would run the Dept of Justice. Free speech rights? hmmm maybe not how Obama views how the world “should be” if Obama becomes President. Given the fact Obama has such a thin resume Obama is touting his good judgment as one of the main reasons he would make a good President. Obama’s relationship to Ayers makes one question Obama’s good judgment so the story is a valid one and the people have a right to know the truth about Obama’s relationship to Ayers. Long after Obama became involved with Ayers, Obama knew that Ayers was an unapologetic terrorist who,was still telling the New York Times he regretted only failing to carry out more attacks — and that America still “makes me want to puke”?

We know you think it’s somehow relevant that, in 18 months of campaigning, Obama once said fifty instead of forty. We get it. He erred. Maybe he meant territories, maybe he was tired. He doesn’t know how many states there are? Yeah, good luck with that argument.
Now, given that this is so important to you, why are you voting for a candidate who said not once, not twice, not three times, but four times in one week that there is a country called Czechoslovakia? Who claimed he’d “Veto every beer.” Who has made so many gaffes on policy that his advisers have actually stated: “John McCain was not speaking for the McCain campaign.” Who lied directly to Tim Russert’s face, denying he ever said, “I don’t know that much about the economy,” when Russert had the quote right in front of him. Well?

The board was to help poor school children get an education. What is happening is a right wing smear caimpain by Mclame supporters to distort facts. Do you have any idea how idiotic this sounds? So what are you saying terry? Is helping school children a terrorist act? Did you guys ever think it was possible that Obama didn’t know this right away? Ryan C, It is not free speech when you try to prevent another person from expressing their views. Using “economic terrorism” to stop a radio station from trying to report to the public about Obama’s long term relationship to Ayers You shout down the hateful.” What you are really saying is that any speech that you view as “hateful” should be suppressed. If this is what we can expect from Obama should he become President, than everyone, even liberals, should be pretty fearful about what a President Obama would mean to free speech.
As to taking legal action against the Obama Ayers ad. It is a smoke screen to say it is because the ad was produced illegally. The real reason Obama is taking legal action is to try and suppress the ad from being aired. Again, Obama appears to be using pretty strong arm tactics to suppress free speech and if he becomes President, we all should be fearful.

I don’t think it’s the right thing to do to put McCain’s age into the mix, but I do think it’s valid to put his mental status in for evaluation by the American people. The man has made enough gaffes and blunders in this campaign that in any election cycle before this one his party would have run him out of town on a rail. We have soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan from the first, second and third tour with PTSD and other debilitating effects. If they are so disturbed by the happenings there, then why is it that McCain is not mentally disturbed after 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton? Add to that possibility his legendary temper that is on a hair trigger and does this really sound like a guy that America needs in charge of our entire nation. I think that the fact that John Mc will not let his records be seen tells the tale. Actions speak louder than words John.

Joe Biden has been in the Senate since John McCain was a POW in Viet Nam.

I, personally, have taken great umbrage to all the references to John McCain’s age: he’s only got two years on me and, believe me, I don’t consider myself old.
