2:55 pm MT: Word that Sen. John McCain planned an ad for this evening rippled through Democratic circles this afternoon. It’s unheard of to try to step on your opponent’s message on his big night like that.
But what he’s saying is probably going to silence any critics:
McCAIN: “Senator Obama, this is truly a good day for America. Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed. So I wanted to stop and say, congratulations. How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow, we’ll be back at it. But tonight Senator, job well done.”
Today is the 45th anniversary of the March on Washington — and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
A savvy move from a candidate who voted against making King’s birthday a national holiday. And a classy move from a candidate whose own week in the spotlight is about to begin.

Clearly, McSame’s finding some class has eluded many of his Rovian supporters — judging from the first few posts on this item.
This is certainly an historic day for our nation!
Unfortunately, I’m sure McSame will be “back at it” tomorrow, it being an increasingly negative campaign defined by the inability of the Republicans to be right on the issues facing our nation today!
No Way, No HOW, NO McSAME!!!

Who has class? Who shares American values? Who do you want to represent your country?
The One Zerobameus is organizing a rally to rob his opponent’s age; on the other hand a hero congratulates his opponent’s “remarkable” spotlight on the anniversary of a true historical speech.

Great! The first 2 comments from idiots!
As for McCain being classy, it’s BS. Just another attempt to get in on the spotlight because this clown could never draw 75,000 people! He’s a pathetic old man whose just put out an ad in North Carolina which is supposed to answer the jabs he’s taking for not knowing how many homes he has. It’s ofcourse, the POW crap. What an idiot! What the hell does what happened to him 40 years ago have to do with him not being cognisant of the amount of homes he has. It’s a simple question and this POW crap has gotten really old…just like him! Happy Birthday you geezer! Put your teeth back in, close your robe and go back inside!

Perhaps some of his backers might want to take a breath, too. Nice gesture. Appreciated.

Somebody asked Romney how many houses he owned -
His response -
“1 less than John Kerry”.

What an ass! McCain’s campaign has recommended that people wear togas. Those idiots don’t recognize the columns from Washingon DC that Dr. King, and President Kennedy spoke in front of which comes as no surprise given there lack of grasp of geography!
Jealous much? Cretins!

It’s shockingly stupid for Obama to be making this gross spectacle NOW, after people have already starting being turned off by his arrogance and huge ego. This is Obama’s race to lose, and lose he will. And he’s got no one to blame but himself.
It IS sad that on such an important night in America’s history, Obama is going to make it into a gigantic, tacky temple.

If you see this as a temple, you’re just swallowing the RNC Talking Points and you don’t support Obama anyway, so who cares?

wow. . .so, blogger, you feel quite comfortable admitting that you find it impossible that a black man could be anything besides a ball player or recording artist who dances, sings, and throws a ball to entertain white America. . .
your ignorance is astounding, your racism is heartbreaking, and your American white privilege WILL come to end. . .then you won’t be able to conjure animal imagery or perpetuate bigoted stereotypes about people of color.
