Hillary
8:52 pm MT: There’s your unity: Says Senator Clinton, by way of introducing herself, "A proud supporter of Barack Obama." "The time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose."
Phenomenal theater.
Here’s a tagline: "No way. No how. No McCain."
The tall blue signs around the arena — half of them say "Obama" on one side, half say "Hillary" on the other. All of them say "Unity" on the reverse.
ABC’s Kate Snow reports that delegates were told to wait until the end of the speech to hold them up, but many can’t wait.

Well, I think it is going to take more than just signs to declare unity.
I expected that Hillary and Obama would be seen together on this stage, at the Dem convention. THAT WOULD HAVE SPOKEN VOLUMES. SHOW US BY ACTIONS. Why didn’t we SEE Hilary and Obama together??? Hilary had the strongest speach by far at the convention. But I’m still wondering where the American flag is? What country are you running for?
Posted by: smrtk | August 26, 2008, 11:09 pm 11:09 pm
democrats dont care about the flag silly!!!! the only flag they care about is the “flag” with their canidates name on it.

NO WAY, I think you need to look closer at Obama’s policies. It is going to take more money from Americans to support all those government programs that Obama is proposing. Obama proposes welfare in the disguise as healthcare. He proposes welfare in disguise as social security. He proposes welfare in disguise as college funds. What do you call all obama’s government programs? And who do you think is going to support all these programs? YOU ARE.

VERY WEAK endorsement of Obama by Clinton.
She did not address the topics of his preparedness.

Hillary gave a weak endorsement.
All I took from this is that Hillary should be the president, NOT Obama.
I doubt OBama with his cheap, tired rhetoric will give a better speech.

THAT IS WHY I WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER VOTE OBAMA …
BECAUSE YOU ROBBED AMERICA OF WHO WAS REALLY THEIR BEST CHOICE TO BE PRESIDENT …
GET THAT, DUMMIES …

Democrats must be wise and nominate Clinton over Obama now that her speech is over.
American’s deserve representation by someone they want, not someone they are being shoved to accept.
Obama is not America’s choice.
Too bad if Clinton doesn’t run Independent, because Mc Cain has my vote if Clinton is not the nominee.
Clinton did everything she was asked
to do.
Now we the voters want her to be our President in 2008 and will make it clear that being over ridden by Super delegates will not retain voters enmasse.

Steve,
Do you think name-calling helps you convey your ideas better and convince others more forcefully?
All you accomplish is making a fool of yourself.
The facts are:
1. Clinton’s endorsement of Obama was very weak
2. Clinton gave a brilliant speech ABOUT HERSELF AND HER CAUSE
Posted by: JA | August 26, 2008, 11:25 pm 11:25 pm
Well if Obama has such good judgement how could he pick Joe Biden over Hillary Clinton. What a disgrace, her speech tonight showed America what a great Pres or VP she would have made.
Shame Obama Shame.

im just curious. why do you think that speech will make tht big of a difference on the vote? you make it seem like it was one of the most memorable speeches of all time.. lol she came out and said exactly what she had to say in order to keep her credibility. tell me why its going to make a difference?
Posted by: tim | August 26, 2008, 11:27 pm 11:27 pm

Posted by: al | August 26, 2008, 11:27 pm 11:27 pm
i find it ironic that on the eve of the convention the call/demand was for hillary and her supporters to save the day, to rescue the democratic party from itself before they self destruct-and you know what she delivered.
now its up to obama to step-up and deliver.
Posted by: sonia trevino | August 26, 2008, 11:28 pm 11:28 pm
JA…
well said. first off, the name calling does absolutely nothing. like you said, it just mak them look childish. apparently it just makes them feel better about themselves. secondly, not that it was a bad speech, it just wasnt anything groundbreaking. nothing she said will make any lasting difference.
Posted by: tim | August 26, 2008, 11:29 pm 11:29 pm
I must say that she gave a good speech and strong, but not so strong to convience people to vote for Obama. AND by the time Obama starts to stumble thu any speach that he has prepared, Oh, we forgot we took Obama’s words out of context, he really did not mean what he said at 1 pm, but listen to what he says now at 3 pm which is the total opposite. FLIP FLOP. AS soon as the FLIP FLOPPER starts talking people will forget Hilary’s words and will remain steadfast to vote against Obama. Maybe Obama should have gotten his friends William Ayers, and Tony Rezko, and Rev. Wright to give a speech in his honor. That would have been more credible as to Obama’s character.

I do agree that Clinton’s endorsement of Obama was very weak
and she gave a brilliant speech ABOUT HERSELF AND HER CAUSE. I think you got it exactly right.
And I agree with the rest of you too, that although it was a great speech, it will soon be forgotten. I think that by Obama not attending all these days at the convention shows how afraid he is of not winning. He is still out there campaigning trying to convience people to vote for him. I think it was a great mistake to show that weakness on his part.

Any Hillary supporter who doesn’t vote for Obama after that deserves 4 more years like the disastrous last 8 years because that’s what McCain will bring. McCain is in your corner… if you are oppressed by having to live in 7 or more houses!

The only people saying Hillary gave a weak endorsement are those working for Fox news and those of you who watch it. Hillary was energizing, smart. She made refference to the TV ads and whole heartedly endorsed Obama and Biden. She complimented Michelle and Jill and drove her message home. She did exactly what she should have done. And quite frankly, she did more than anyone else would ever be asked to do.I too will be voting for Obama, but tonight I mourn what should have been.

An amazing woman, and reinforces why I felt she should have been the candidate. I am not surprised that the media pundits turned around from the non-stop bashing that was incredibly irresponsible throughout the primaries. They have way too much influence and use it seemingly without being aware of how important their comments can be. Shameful.

Women Put in Their Place, Again ?
On Aug. 26, 2008, the 88th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving Women the right to vote, Hillary Rodham Clinton will address America to explain why she and the rest of the women in America have allowed themselves to be put back in their place as third class citizens behind White men and now Black men. It is so disappointing to see women rolling over on their backs and doing as they were told, as if their Foremothers had not spent the past few thousand years suffering and struggling to be acknowledged as equals instead of the property of men ,to be used and abused and told what to do and think and say. What a shame it is that on the Anniversary of one of Women’s` greatest achievements Hillary Clinton will be personally giving up all that has been gained and admitting defeat once again. How sad that women have allowed themselves to be put back in their place and told what to do by Obama, Howard Dean and the DNC, and the media, then tricked into using such an important anniversary to admit defeat and pledge their allegiance to their new Master. It is such a disgrace to see the women of today selling out their Foremothers and their achievements so easily just to put another Male democrat in the White House, without realizing that when “United” they actually hold enough power to control this election and put a woman in the White House instead of another man. The women of today have rolled over so easily when they were told to, that I find it hard to understand if it was because they really enjoy being third class citizens behind the white man and now the Black man, or were they just not smart enough or brave enough to do as there foremothers before them and band together and stand up for themselves and what is rightfully theirs. The women of today have stood by and allowed the men of their party to push aside Hillary Clinton to make room for their chosen one, another man .How pathetic you have become, allowing the men of the DNC to put you back in your place on such an important night. I guess Hillary has been ordered to use that night to try to convince you that you should be happy and celebrating in the knowledge that you are lucky that your foremothers did all of the hard work so you can stand by and watch it ripped from a woman`s grasp at the last minute, but it is okay” because it was just not your time but it will be someday soon if you stand aside and let another Man have it for the next four to eight years”. You should be happy that they even allow you the right to vote, instead of complaining about how you were tricked out of your rights and told who you can vote for, as long as it is not a woman. ” You have come a long way baby”, then stepped aside as you were told to do so all of the men can get back in the front of the line, leaving you in the back of the line where you belong. Shame on you for rolling over once again! Regardless of Political Party or Race , you all lose.

Hillary represented the best chance for “change” and “hope”. With speeches like she gave last night and determination/experience would have brought the country together. Obama will divide the country. He has to make decisions in the White House and not ponder and ponder what to do. The top people in the Democratic Party were not ready for a “woman” to become President. Too bad. No image that the Democratic Party can push will sell enough good Americans that he is the best choice. Sorry Democrats you had the “perfect” person to unite the country and you took inexperience for your choice for the greatest country in the world. You should be ashamed.

The Pelosi/Dean contingent acts like the only people who have a problem with Obama are the Hillary supporters. Not so. I would have voted Clinton, but I’m no big fan. Give me a moderate Democrat to vote for, and I’ll vote Democrat for President. Otherwise, I’ll do what I generally do – vote for Democrats for governor, senator, etc, and Republican for President. I have ZERO confidence in Obama to handle foreign affairs, and that’s the crux of the Presidency. The wrong man is at the top of the ticket. JOE BIDEN WOULD HAVE MADE A GOOD PRESIDENT. The Democrats have blown it again.
Posted by: Michael O. | August 27, 2008, 9:01 am 9:01 am
Hillary made one good point. If you do not vote Obama we will be in deep crap by the end of the next 4 years. You are to be voting for policies and plans and not because of your race, gender or age. Or if you had your heart set on a woman for the first time in your life. I was very disappointed to hear some the women being interviewed after Hillary spoke last night. They are all not voting because a woman did not win. They only reason they voted for Hillary in the first place was because she was a woman and that they wanted to see a woman president before they die. WHAT!! The reasons you are suppose to vote are for the policies, the reason you are suppose to vote is for what you believe is good for your family and the United States of America. What will make us strong, what will give us back our dignity. It is not McCain. McCain have proven that over and over again.
