McCain Campaign: No Leaks Tonight
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos reports: Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., wants to win the election in November. But he does not want to steal Sen. Barack Obama’s, D-Ill., thunder this evening, as the Democrat becomes the first African American to accept a major party’s nomination for president.
A senior McCain campaign official tonight said the news of the Republican’s running mate, which is scheduled to be announced tomorow in Dayton, Ohio, will not upstage Obama tonight.
"There will be no announcement tonight. There will be no leak tonight. This is Barack Obama’s night. His nomination is a singular achievement. Tonight’s his night to make his case," a senior campaign official said.
Earlier today, the McCain campaign issued an unusual ad, congratulating Obama on his historic achievement of accepting his party’s nomination 45 years to the day after Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream Speech."
"This is truly a good day for America. … Tomorrow, we’ll be back at it, but tonight, Senator, a job well done," McCain says in the ad.

Say what you will about McCain; but when he says there will be no leaks he’s right. Having all major contenders showing up in Dayton at the same time, same place is shrewd to the point of genius…..

ABC would consider dignity and respect from a presidential candidate “unusual”.. they’re concepts Barack Obama flings around in fluffy speeches, but curiously has yet to exhibit in a meaningful way through his behavior.

How many times does it have to be repeated before the media and Democrats are able to understand?
One of Barack Obama’s parents is black and the other is WHITE.
That disqualifies him from being the first “African-American” nominated for anything.
According to Merriam-Webster, the correct term for Obama’s heritage is “mulatto” or “biracial.”
Perhaps someday, an African-American will actually be nominated for President, but that day is not today.

Neither canidate can make promises of
change. All of these promises must be
presented to Congress as a bill and
voted on. So it’s possible that whoever
becomes president will be fighting
Congress and not changing our nation
toos soon.

Comparing B. Hussein Obama to Abraham Lincoln is the most laughable thing I’ve heard in a long time. With the “experience” Obama has he should be cleaning the bird poop from Lincoln’s statue, instead of running for President. Give me a break!!

Yes, and there will be no silliness tomorrow with everyone clutching their blackberries and cell phones waiting for the big announcement from “The One,” and afraid to go anywhere or do anything for fear of missing His message.
What a shame the MSM scooped Obama’s big proclamation, although it was no big surprise that he did not possess the ability to pull that off.

Beautiful job tonight by Barack Obama… but… If John McCain = noun, verb, POW… then Barack Obama = noun, verb, community organizer. I’ll be voting for the POW! And his VP… Tim Pawlenty! http://www.UpYoursObama.com!

Obama did not even mention the 14 to 20 million illegal immigrants in this country sucking up our jobs, costs over 600 dollars million a year in school, medical, police, jail time, etc. He wants to welcome each and every one of these criminals with open arms. There is no national security with these people roaming around robbing home, business and killing our citizen. Another socialist idea by Obama. The Great Obama needs to be reduced to an ex-presidental candidate. Elect him and the 1930 Great Depression will be back with us. CHANGE EQUAL SOCIALIST NATION.

McCain was destroyed tonight!! Every talking head on EVERY CHANNEL (except FOX Noise) AGREES!!
A PERFECT END TO A PERFECT CONVENTION!!!
I SMELL AN OBAMA LANDSLIDE!!!
The pollsters are out in full force on the phones tonight and McCain and the rest of the Republicans are in a FREEFALL!!!

david from texas,
McCains little phony backhanded complimentary commercial isn’t going to save him either!!!
Very nice, complimenting the Black man on getting the Nomination on the 45 anniversary of the King Dream speech!!!
Ya, that will play real well in the next couple of days! BACKFIRE, a small one, but still a dumb move!!!

Boring news: Well it ain’t Huckabee. He says so. Poor McCain now has committed himself to impressing the public with some other paltry whitebread VP nominee, right while Obama’s monumental American Political Symphony is still ringing in our ears.
The POW just got KER-SPLATTED. Him being nice now–momentarily as though this whole thing is a game–isn’t gracious, it’s frightening: he’s running to be in charge of America’s future, and his bitter, hate-rousing character assasination is just a GAME? Please.

A fifty minute speech by Obama was nothing more than 50 minutes of BS and crap. Only a fool would believe him and the same ole political rhetric and pandering.
Obama does not get it. He can not lie and lie and lie and get voters to believe him. He tried to portrayed himself as a MAGICIAN and a FIX ALL. He was the REAL FOOL instead.

Martin is correct. This was the same, tired, old Liberal talking points we’ve heard a thousand times before… the only difference is they were magnificently delivered before a spectacular backdrop… superb example of theater… only problem is if that’s all it took to be President I’d be voting for the West Wing’s Martin Sheen! Bartlett for America!

Thank God McCain isn’t playing high school games…texting at 3AM (jab to Hillary) AND IT’S 3 HOURS AFTER IT BROKE ON THE NEWS. What went wrong with the well oiled campaign and Axlerod’s sock puppet screwing that up.
McCain…..A CANDIATE FOR GROWN UPS!

Good job McCain his congratulatory remark & commending his opponenton a job well done. McCain will be an excellent leader who has the experience in foreign policy, and knows what is takes to get the job done…instead of having to consult the “Presidents Guide for Dummies” when a problem arises.

How disappointed ‘Change’ (a.k.a Obama) will be – he hardly ‘destroyed’ McCain..you were too busy being blinded by the theatrics …I’m hoping you didn’t fall for the Underoos commercials too thinking you could fly.

=========================================
Debra you are correct, this whole McCain thing is just nuts…
What happens if our country gets threatened directly by Russia??
What will McSenile do before he gets his coffee in the morning??
At 3AM he might accidentally push the “launch button for all the nuclear weapons” thinking it was the SNOOZE BUTTON!!! His “TWIN BROTHER BUSH” taught him how to get that done, by side stepping the law and Congress!!!!!!
Obama/Biden 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh MY GOD! Please spread this message about McCain!!!!

Biden then quipped, “If I had your hair I’d be president, you know what I mean? I wouldn’t be screwing around with this job.”
Great choice Obama. A hair-obsessed bitter loser who is just “screwing around” as a V P candidate.

Hillary and McCain show what true adults act like. Contrast that with childish classless Obama.

So tonight the McCain campaign felt the need to announce “there will be no announcement tonight.”
Um, okay. Kind of reminds me of an ADHD kid who is told to sit quietly, and who constantly feels the need to tell everyone how quiet he’s being.

Geevill – I know you are DNA programmed to see the worst in people, but I think Biden’s line was pretty funny.
Contrast that to McCain’s sense of humor, which seems to always involve either people being killed or women being trashed.
I don’t know. I guess its all in the eyes of the beholder, but I’ll take Biden’s jokes over McCain’s.

Actually, speaking of Biden, I was pretty impressed with his life story. I didn’t know a lot of that.
Forget the hair – maybe if more people had heard he was more than willing to give up his Senate seat to care for his injured kids – “Delaware can always find another senator, but my sons can’t find another father.” – I don’t know, maybe he would be the nominee.
There’s something simple and honest about a guy who gives up happy hours at the Hawk n Dove for a three-hour trainride every night.

It’s interesting, every comments section I read on every article about this election shows a definite trend.
The posts by conservatives are generally written with tact and thoughtful analysis. The posts written by liberals more times than not resort to juvenile name-calling and insults.
Proves again that conservatives operate from a base of thought and logic, and liberals operate from a base of emotion.
