Oh yes, and I specifically pointed to that study (done by the Kaiser Foundation as a I recall) that suggested that in 2004 people who voted for Bush DID NOT REALLY KNOW WHAT HIS POSITIONS WERE and DID NOT KNOW THE POSITIONS OR RECORD OF HIS OPPONENT.
Whereas, THOSE WHO VOTED FOR KERRY KNEW KERRY’S POSITIONS AND THOSE OF BUSH.
So, unless you are now going to make the argument (and it would not surprise me if you did, after all, you support McCain) that it is a BAD thing for a voter to
1)UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES and

No right is absolute, and there are limits on all rights. Its a fundamental principal of democracy, dating back to the Enlightenment and reiterated by the founding fathers that we have maximum liberty such that we don’t infringe on the liberties of others (damn, that’s right, you have to think about others).
However, the ad in question violated campaing finance laws, not speech laws, since it was funded (to the tune of several million dollars) by a single individual (an individual who also bankrolled the Swiftboat Veterans), and since it was against /for a particular candidate.
Now I know Republicans think its fine to buy political offices (or give them to your friends and family), but the laws say otherwise (at least for now).

He wants to expand areas for off-shore drilling. The Dept of Energy says that at peak capacity they estimate this would add 1.4 billion gallons of gas a year. That would cover less than 4 days concumption! Meanwhile, the DOT, AAA, and others did a study and said that if all Americans properly inflated their tires, we could save 2.8 billion gallons a year. Twice as much and it could start today. Look it up if you don’t believe me. Senator Obama is the candidate with the good ideas for the American people, not the good ideas for multi-billion dollar industries like the Republicans.

What’s frightening is that he’s steamrolling along – kind of like Hitler in the 1930s and with real similarities, such as the “you can’t question Barack” – pushed by Dean and Pelosi, who don’t care one bit for this country. They hate the Clintons, and they’ve gotten what they wanted – she wasn’t the nominee. However, in the process they have hurt all of us. I’ll vote for McCain because although I don’t agree with him all of the time, I believe he’s a man of honor, and I certainly trust him a lot more than I do Obama.
