Did ABC News even verify that McCain wasn’t joking. I for one think it’s pretty funny and certainly appropriate for the audience.

Oil is a global product and controls within our borders would not make a penny of difference to global prices. we would have to be completely self sufficient with US produced oil and become an isolationist economy for that to work – and the results would destroy us financially. Oil companies make a profit margin of approximately 7%, whereas manufacturing companies in the US have profit margins of almost double that. The only difference is we use a lot of oil – the rest of the economy runs on it. We need to tap our resources and use them as a bridge to help get us to the “next thing” in energy, be it tidal electric power, hydrogen from sea water, wind, solar, nuclear or whatever. Bottom line is we are American – the last 4 letters are I CAN.

I think the issue here is that McCain is so out-of-touch that he had no idea what he was talking about. If he knew it was nude event, I can’t imagine he would have said he wanted to see Cindy in it. He’s not that stupid.
The point I’m making is that while John McCain was trying to position himself as the biker’s best friend, the truth is that he’s a $520-shoe wearing elitist — and a total phony at Sturgis. He’s got nothing more in common with the Harley-riding bike ralliers there than George Bush does with a true rancher in Texas.

I substitue teach in various schools. Within the school criteria, I teach: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Morals, and common decency. I am willing to do my part to help the next generation prepare for their future. A future that is more civil than the present. If you are not willing to raise the standards of society then where do you think you will fit in when the next generation takes over? When I was young, I made mistakes. I was a member of the KKK. Later, after becoming a Christian, I left the Klan with a contract on my head. I later was ordained in an all black church at their request, fully knowing of my background. So you see, I have walked the walk on both sides of the street and know that the future is up to you and me, not the political parties. Miss Buffalo Chip isn’t a beauty contest in the traditional sense — it’s a relatively debauched topless (and sometimes bottomless) multiday contest where women dance, jiggle and reportedly even perform bl*w j*bs on bananas for the titillation of the spectators. And John McCain offered up his 54-year-old wife as a contestant.
And, let’s be frank, he didn’t do it just because she’s pretty or has an enviable body for a 54-year-old woman or because he’s proud of his wife’s brand of socialite beauty. He did it to pander to the crowd’s idea of appropriate masculinity, and that apparently includes over-sexualizing your wife and the mother of your children for the amusement of a few people in a crowd. McCain offered up the thought of his wife objectifying herself for the sexual gratification of others (at his suggestion) in order to get a couple of chuckles, inspire some male fantasy and make a few “friends.” Fun!
And you might say that John McCain didn’t think of it as an objectification ritual, or that he didn’t know that it involved nudity and displays of stimulated sex acts or whatever. Well, then, why wasn’t he offering to get his very pretty daughter Meghan up on stage? Suggesting a 24-year-old woman participate in a just-a-beauty pageant wouldn’t be so outside the the norm, if he thought it would be just a beauty pageant. But he knew that it wasn’t, and he doesn’t think of his daughter in that way and wouldn’t in a million years as a father suggest or even intimate that his daughter should get on stage and flash her breasts, ass and (potentially) her external genitalia at a group of strange men for admiration, money or votes.
But what does it say that he would suggest it of his wife? I think it’s another piece of gravel in a growing mountain of evidence that John McCain doesn’t think a lot about women, their place as equals in society or their rights in that society. But he does seem to think a lot about us as sexual beings — or, at least, sexual objects.

Hey becky, the United States of America has only been around for about 220 years. In my world, a century is 100 years, so you are ascribing 180 years of activities to this country when it wasn’t even a country – it was under the control of England.
Now, if you want to blame white Europeans (English, French, and Spanish – those who were actually colonizing this country 400 years ago) then you might be getting back onto the right track.
And I’m sure that you realize that the vast majority of black slaves that were brought to the Americas (North, South, and Central) were PURCHASED by white slave traders from black slave traders. They were not hunted down, trussed up, and carried to the oceanside ports (at least, not by the whites). The implication behind this fact is that the people who were brought to this country as slaves WERE ALREADY SLAVES IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY.
The numbers as I remember them from previous research:
10,000,000 million slaves taken out of Africa.
2,000,000 slaves died in transit to the “new world”
600,000 slaves taken to what is now the United States.
That leaves 7,400,000 slaves in South America, Central America, the Caribbean nations, etc.
So my question is, along the lines of Rev. Wright, are the Africans who sold those 10,000,000 people as slaves to the Europeans reaping their own rewards by still living in poverty and disease four centuries later?

As for what happened to the Jews during the Holocaust, most Jews I know recognize what I’m saying and agree.
