McCain VP Contender Palin in Alaska, Not Ohio
ABC News’ Kate McCarthy reports: As vice presidential speculation swirls, Gov. Sarah Palin is watching the fireworks from her home in Wasilla, Alaska.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is in Dayton, Ohio, awaiting a high noon event at which the campaign has said the Republican contender will announce his running mate.
All eyes are on a short list of contenders including Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Govs. Mitt Romney and Tom Ridge, Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Palin.
But the possibility of a surprise pick also looms as the McCain camp remains mum at this hour about just who will be joining their candidate on stage in battleground Ohio.
But one person who will not be there: Palin. The governor’s spokesperson, Sharon Leighow, tells ABC News she’s going to the State Fair in Anchorage, Alaska.
Stay tuned…

Don’t know much about Palin. My cynical side wants to tell me McCain is just reaching out to women, as we haven’t heard this name before and she seemed to show up on the “list” immediately after another woman dropped off.
But who knows. Anyone know anything about her?
I’ll tell you the Republican woman I’d like to see run – Whitman. But she’d never get the nomination, probably for the same reasons I like her.
Posted by: Paul | August 29, 2008, 9:09 am 9:09 am
Oh, she’s a MILF? That might explain why McCain is “reaching out” to her.

Palin is a mother of five, including a child with Down Syndrome that she chose to give birth to and raise rather than aborting. She’s a SOLID Conservative and pro-life woman who has done a LOT to clean up corruption in Alaska (remember the bridge to nowhere?) Hopefully she is the choice if it can’t be Romney. She’d be a good VP and get both the pro-life Conservative vote as well as the votes from the masses of angry and bitter Hillary supporters who can’t support Obama.

Don’t care who it is. I’m a Democrat supporting McCain. McCain’s not perfect, but he sure does look good compared to the alternative.

Either ABC or the governor’s spokesperson is a fact bungler with, “The Governor’s spokesperson, Sharon Leighow, tells ABC News she’s going to the State Fair in Anchorage, Alaska.”
Well the State Fair in Alaska is held in Wasilla, Alaska and I’m guessing the Gov’s spokesperson knows that.

Not sure if we should read too much into Palin being in Alaska tonight. There’s a 4 hour time difference between Ohio and Alaska, she could easily be back in Alaska this evening after a Noon appearance in Ohio.
Posted by: John | August 29, 2008, 9:19 am 9:19 am
She would be a terrible choice. 2 years of experience as a governor and we should believe she can step right in to the presidency if needed = completely undercuts McCain’s best argument, that Obama doesn’t have the necessary experience. Hard to believe McCain would make such a stupid decision

logs: Palin was 1st runner-up in a state level beauty pageant. I’d say that classifies as an attractive woman. I’m a 36 year old soccer mom from Georgia and even I recognize that Palin is an attractive person. She’s a mom of five kids and a Governor. That’s pretty cool. By the way, it isn’t only “repubs” that find her attractive. Many Dems think she’s attractive as well.
Frankly – who cares if she’s attractive? All I care about is a strong VP that would make a good Pres. if something happens to President McCain.

beck: “Doesn’t matter, McCain is an empty suite and I would never in my life time for this man into office.”
Really beck? McCain is an empty suit? Kid, Obama suit’s so empty if Michelle didn’t leave the hanger in it’d crumble on stage. Obama’s so unqualified for President that his resume can be written on a cocktail napkin. Obama’s not a candidate, he’s a human sock puppet and if you look real close you can see Howard Dean’s hand up his ass working the controls.
Seriously beck, you don’t really want to start comparing Obama’s Resume with McCain’s. I mean Obama’s paper on “What I did on my Summer Vacation” written in the 3rd grade may make for compelling reading if you’re one of the CHOSEN ONE’s faithful, but it hardly compares to McCain talking about what he did in the Senate that same year. Lordy I knew you O-bots were shameless thugs, but this pathetic attempt to build a straw-man is, well, simply pathetic. The concept of running against McCain-Palin must really have you lot peeing down your pant leg.

Don’t rule out Congressman John Boehner who represents Dayton, Ohio in Congress(Ohio’s 8th Congressional district). He’s the former House Majority leader. He wasn’t seen at the Dayton airport last night greeting McCain, even though they’re close friends.

Palin will generate media attention and interest, something McCain needs.
She brings conservative credentials to shore up the base, also something McCain needs. She is a Washington outsider, never a bad thing. If McCain is a one term President we would have a Palin vs. Clinton match in 4 years–interesting!

Sarah Palin is not as experienced in government as McCain but maybe that is why she would be second on the ticket instead of at the top, like the equally inexperienced Obama. Meg Whitman would also be a great choice but nobody knows how she would do debating. She is the only self-made female billionaire I’ve heard of. Millions of women make a living on eBay and would know about her.
Posted by: Mike K | August 29, 2008, 9:29 am 9:29 am
At a time when McCain’s VP has to be ready to be President, Sarah Palin has barely established herself as a governor. There’s no way she’s ready for the national stage.
Anybody who supports Palin simply because she’s a woman, especially with her staunch pro-life views, is short-sighted.
Clinton supporters who are more likely to vote for McCain because of Palin obviously didn’t hear a word Hillary said, or have no respect for what Hillary said.
Posted by: Mike O | August 29, 2008, 9:29 am 9:29 am
Wow, you wingers are crazy if you think there’s an upside here, IF she’s the pick. She brings in maybe 1% of Hillary supporters who the Dems lost anyway. No foreign policy experience, no significant achievements, up to her ears in Ted Steven’s scandals… And to top it off, Biden will tear her apart in a debate. Please, Please let it be her… Women aren’t stupid, and won’t vote McCain, he’s stated he’ll overturn Roe.

A statement like “Wake up ABC. You are dumb” is very odd since they are a part of the left wing, mainstream media that is backing this Hussein Obama hysteria. It’s a given they are. But I guess it’s good to remind them every now and then that not everyone subscribes to their idiotic fantasies. ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, PBS, CNN, MSNBC and the lot don’t have a clue as to what “real news” is. They only manufacture “news” (sans Rather and CBS and NPR) and give their opinions which is not “news”. Hence their fascination with Obama, and their unabashed backing of this God like creature.
I think Condoleezza Rice would be the perfect choice for McCain’s VP, but I don’t believe he has that much intelligence in his entire staff to choose someone of her caliber. 2nd place should go to Mitt Romney. Without either one of those two, Hussein is in the White House in 2½ months.

Really? Because her two years as Governor of Alaska, that’s 24 months of executive experience where she shows up for work every day, is somehow inferior to Obama’s two years in the US Senate which equatest to fewer than 150 days of actual work experience. Again, you O-bots are grasping at straws here. If the Palin story scares you so much why not just threaten ABC with criminal prosecution like you did all those TV stations when they aired the Ayers add. Or alternately you could just have the reporter assaulted and arrested like you did to the ABC reporter in Denver.
You know for a group that calls themselves Democrats, you lot really don’t know much about actual democracy. thug Fascism you know, democracy not so much.

Some real idiots posting here. Like the one that doesn’t know how close Dayton and Cinci are. Or the other that tries to downplay Palins’s 2 years of executive experience NOT in Washington DC and her accomplishments. Compare that to the 143 do nothing days of Senate (Non-executive) experience of the Messiah, prior to running for President. I still think it is possible for it to be Palin and that would put the final nail in the Messiah’s cross.
BTW, is it hilarious or not that Obamabots are mimicking the “empty suit” description of the Messiah? Liberals are juvenile and remind me of Pee Wee Herman saying. “I know you are but what am I?’ LMAO!!!

hee hee, You don’t see an upside for McCain? You O-bots are either stupid, insane, or scared crapless. Oh, and that “1% of Hillary supporters who the Dems lost anyway” was, last time Gallup checked earlier this week closer to 20% of her voters. Let’s see, I know they removed MATH from the DNC requirement for membership – had to, too many Democratic plans just don’t add up – but FYI, 20% would be close to 3.6 million Clinton voters, that would effectively be a swing of 7.2 million votes in an election – -3.6 million of Obama, +3.6 million for McCain. I’m curious – you guys think you can get enough dead people, felons, and illegal aliens to compensate for that vote loss?

Palin’s name was floated as a possible VP choice months ago. I thought it was a good choice back then, and now I think it’s an even better choice. Romney would be ok, but McCain needs something historical to take his campaign to close to even with Obama’s historical rise.

Paul Thanks for the joke. It’s very funny.
Question: If you think it’s in bad taste why did you repeat it for millions to see? Hmmm….
And thank God McCain is not afraid to fight terrorism, Islamic and otherwise. You just gave us two more reasons to vote for McCain.
Oh yeah it’s polite and OK to interrupt when someone is speaking, if you are a left wing liberal. Just like it’s now OK to stifle free speech, especially if that speech points out that the Messiah is a close associate of an unrepentant radical domestic terrorist and self-avowed enemy of the US. And just like it’s OK to strong arm and arrest a reporter that was uncovering the relationships between Big Time donors and powerful Dems.

The fireworks at the State Fair are at 10:15 PM Alaska time. She could make it back there from Ohio in a private jet in time to see the show.
Did the Governor’s spokeswoman confirm that she is IN Alaska right now, or did she just say “the Governor will be attending the State Fair today?”

I don’t care who it is!!! I am a PUMA and our DNC is corrupt so I am voting Republican!!! Untill they clean out the Democratic Party leaders you have 18 million Hillary supporters that are up for grabs!!

The “empty suit” in this horse race spoke last night on a stage in a stadium in Denver. Once again his speech was long on symbolism, short on substance. The selection of a strong female would give angry Clinton supporters, PUMA Democrats, somewhere to turn after seeing their party pick an old-guard running mate. Which ticket is for change?
Posted by: Doug | August 29, 2008, 9:48 am 9:48 am
It’s a homerun for Obama if McCain chooses this skank. He can beat her to death over the Wooten scandal. The fact that she opposes reproductive rights is a turnoff for wmen, and the fact that she’s an unpleasant, mean-spirited, Bible thumping, religious harridan works against her as well. When you add in the fact that she has no experience and that she’s kind of intellectually slow, it’s a gigantic win for Obama.
Obama’s up 5 points in the Rasmussen today, by the way, and that poll was taken before his speech last night. You people are all so fortunate that you’re alive to witness this history.
Posted by: K. Savage | August 29, 2008, 9:48 am 9:48 am
If she indeed is the pick, I can’t imagine that they would do anything to tip it off. Of course they would try to say she is still in Alaska. I am quite pumped about the potential of a McCain / Palin ticket. What a pair — it’s like two people of the same mind, someone new to Washington, and someone who can fill in the gaps left by HRC for the disillusioned. Hoping it is Palin, I’m anxiously awaiting the announcement.

Palin does not have the experience to assume the presidency if required. From those living in Alaska, she gets mixed reviews. And yes, this would be a transparent pick. McCain has little respect for women.

Palin would do the unthinkable for McCain…make him a SEXY candidate. I know, it’s shallow of me to only be enamored with Palin’s looks. After doing some background research on her, she sounds like a fierce, tenacious gal with a truckload of integrity…more than enough to shore up the conservative base, attract religious voters, and bitch-slap Biden in a debate :).
Posted by: Erik | August 29, 2008, 9:51 am 9:51 am
Palin is definitely a MILF! What makes her even more so is that she’s intelligent. Very quick wit, sharp on her feet, conservative, 5 children, and hot! What more could we ask for. She really shows how god awful Hillary and Pelosi look!
Posted by: Terry | August 29, 2008, 9:51 am 9:51 am
Palin is supremely more qualified than even Obama. (and she’s hot) She was a Mayor and now a Governor. The only one on the ticket Dem or Republican that has Executive\Governing\Management experience. The rest are legislators. McCain was a Commander in the Navy.
This has taken away all talk about Osama’s speech last night. He read bumper sticker after bumper sticker and merged them all together and called it a speech.
I hope it’s Palin!

Obama’s speech gave 80,000 supporters and millions of Democrats, Republicans, Independents watching TV their moment. When the 80,000 energized supporters started to yell”Yes we can!”, all of us watching TV across America hear their rally cry. Watch out relentless Republican Attack machine! You heard it too! Obama and 80,000 supporters inspired us all. That was the Democrats I grew up with! This is the Democrats I know!
Al Gore, Bill Richardson and Susan Eisenhower also inspired us! When Susan ended her great speech with “Yes we can!” We cheered! Hope and Change has a chance backed by experience!
But first we all must rumble against the Republican Attack machine for the next ten weeks. When Biden joined Obama on stage we saw two warriors with heart and courage. First impression – Democrats are ready to court Republicans and Independents! The Race has started!
Susan Eisenhower -”The history of free men is never really written by chance but by choice; their choice!” Dwight D. Eisenhower. Quote
Obamacan’s – “The best defense against usurpatory government is an assertive citizenry.” William F. Buckley, Jr. quote
“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.” Robert Kennedy. Quote

By will you have egg on your face when that turns out not to be true. You woke her spokesperson in the middle of the night to ask about Sarah’s schedule and she said that as far as she knew the govenor was still in the state and that’s your proof. Well done ABC news as usual. Perhps if you stopped coveriong ever time obama sneezed you might actually be called journalists.
Posted by: s.b. | August 29, 2008, 9:52 am 9:52 am
I’m wondering if Palin’s spokesperson would even know if she was in Ohio. It’s 5:00 am in Alaska, after all, and it’s also becoming fairly obvious from the coverage that the McCain campaign has decided to make this a big league secret. Intrade markets on Palin went from near nothing up to above $80 this morning on the rumour and then, after the ABC release, dropped quickly to $30, but didn’t go any lower. This may be a base of people with more information. At any rate, it’s back up to $60, so ABC’s report doesn’t seem to be taking hold.

Ricardo: “Question: If you think it’s in bad taste why did you repeat it for millions to see? Hmmm….”
I know context is tough for Republicans, so I’ll explain. I posted it not as a joke, but to illuminate the nature of John McCain.
Ricardo: “And thank God McCain is not afraid to fight terrorism, Islamic and otherwise.”
Oh, he’s not afraid. He just has that lousy sense of geography, like the current administration. Because of it, the terrorists who attacked us are still out there. What can I say. I guess we Obama supporters want it all – a president who will take on the guys who actually plotted to knock down our Twin Towers.
Ricardo: “Oh yeah it’s polite and OK to interrupt when someone is speaking.”
Nope, its not. But which sin is worse? Interrupting someone, or starting a scuffle with a 95-year-old?
Let that sink in for a second. McCain was so infuriated, he actually went after Thurmond, in a Capitol hallway. Other people had to pull him away, or quite realistically, Thurmond may have died in McCain’s hands. And you want to give this guy nuclear codes?

1) The State Fair is going on until Sept. 1, so strike one against one of the commenters (albeit he wwas a positive commenter).
2) The State Fair is in Wasilla, not Anchorage.
http://www.alaskastatefair.org/2008/thefair/fairinfo/generalinfo.html
3) Palin has more experience governing a state than Obama has governing ANYTHING. So what’s good for the goose is good for the gander–McCain/Palin will CRUSH Obama/Biden. Obama will get IL, VT and probably DC.
4) I am a registered Independent who was fervently pro-Clinton. While it would make me very, very sad that Senator Clinton would not be the first lady P or VP, I would settle with Palin in there.

Maurice: Testy, testy. have a look at your numbers tomorrow or the next day and watch that 20% evaporate. I happen to know a thing or two about math, since you asked. Events take a minimum of three days to influence polling data, since most respectable pollsters use a 3-day aggregate of results. 3 days ago, we hadn’t heard from Hillary, Bill, or Barack. Believe me, the Clintons brought their supporters home. Yesterday Gallup showed a 6% bounce from what was effectively 1 day of convention results. Wait until Sunday and see it go up to 10. You’re clinging to the media narrative that GOP strategists have fed you for the last week, since Hillary Dems voting McCain would be a good “story” except for the part where it’s not “reality.”
jw: Again, of course you’re not stupid, as I said. But you sound like a Republican, and he’s already got your vote. With Obama steadily polling 4-6 points ahead for the last 60 days, McCain has to peel off votes, and Palin will not deliver in that respect, for the reasons I listed.

Um, well, there’s an interesting take. One in which you seem to live in a world where you make assumptions, and then make assumptions upon assumptions, and then wonder why not everyone jumps up to agree with your conclusions.
But I guess it takes that kind of world to see John McCain as someone having the temperment to be commander in chief.

“”Palin does not have the experience to assume the presidency if required.”
Ummmm…Are you aware who the Democratic nominee for President is? A guy who is the same age as Palin and has spent 2 years in the Senate.”
Which means that all Obama has to do to refute the “Obama doesn’t have the needed experience” argument is to point out that McCain has put a person with a thinner resume one heartbeat away from the presidency.
Which means he has just dismembered his strongest argument.
If Palin is the choice, of course.

If he had, and McCaime picked Palin, they would say he picked her just to counter Hitlery. She would not be effective. Now, he can pick her legitimately.
She will crush Obiden. She is PRO-gun (drool), she took office and sold the Governor’s plane on ebay, she WANTS to drill in ANWR.

Sure, stunning to the eyes, but if you closed your eyes Jimmy Carter could have been giving it….the same tired old liberal stump speech. Tax cuts for 95%…please tell me you guys do not believe that. Free college, free healthcare, free student loans, free pre-school, social security, job assistance, no oil in 10 years, government retooling of UAW plants?????
No one can buy that can they?

maurice: Oh and this will be the last thing I say here, I have to get back to my real life now, but us O-bots are not scared at all. Did you SEE the speech last night? We’re coming for you, and we’re going to fix the mess the Neocons have made of this country. I’d love to see a shred of evidence that we have anything to fear from a feeble old man who doesn’t know how many houses he owns, and has to make a mockery of his own honorable service by exploiting it for political gain every time someone questions his backward “policies.” We are not afraid. We have more money, more coverage, more new voters registering DEMOCRATIC, and more reason than ever to believe that we can save this country from the long national nightmare of the last 8 years. No one is scared but you, and you have every reason to be. Our convention was a pitch perfect, well executed, genuine turning point in recent political history. Next week will be a bunch of kids running around to defend their treehouse. And we have chainsaws.

Paul, this is the only reply you will get. No more time for fools or liberals. You say that joke was horrible so you posted it? C’mon. First, it was funny. Second, Both subjects of the joke are homely so that bit of truth makes it funnier. Third, the things (lies, slander, and filth) that come from the mouths of liberals and Democrats daily (read the Daily Kooks or the Huffington Post or even the drive-by media) make that joke seem fit for third graders.
The “lousy sense of geography” resulted in an evil dictator that supported terrorism and inflicted thousands of casualties and torture on his own people and his neighbors being disposed of. It has resulted in the near demise (European newspapers say total demise) of al-Qaeda. The terroists that attacked us are dead, Paul. Unfortunately, idiots like you want their accomplices and supporters released to create more deaths. (Gitmo)
Obama hates the military but loves a National Gestapo to stifle dissent. As far as we can see, the Messiah just wants to talk our enemies into submission. After listening to his repeated droning and lies, he may be right.
Too bad he didn’t attack Pelosi or Reid. How nice nice to have a President who won’t sit back and take it from the left.
Either you are incredibly stupid to swallow the lines that the Messiah is feeding you (He changes positions more than some change socks) or you are a left wing socialist.
Whatever your problem is, you are working for the wrong side. Maybe you don’t have a job or a business and are just looking for the govt (me and my fellow hard working Americans) to support you. Think again. It ain’t gonna happen paulie boy. McCain isn’t my first choice. He isn’t my second choice either. But he’s far far superior to that Marxist impersonating a real American.

FWIW, The Alaska State Fair, which started on the 21st, continues through Monday. Today at 1:00 PM Alaska time (5 PM EST), Governor Palin along with Wells Fargo Bank will be unveiling and distributing the Alaska State Quarter. Does that give her enough time to fly from Ohio to Alaska? Even with a 4 hour time zone change, it would still be down to the wire. But still–maybe.

I’m a conservative. I like Palin’s politics. I like her personality. She’s a pretty lady now, and when she was young, she was stunning.
But what happens if McCain dies, has an incapacitating stroke, etc. sometime next March, and she’s suddenly president for almost fouryears? What is Vlad Putin going to make of her? He’s going to see an extremely green politician. What happens if he tries to insert nuclear missiles into Cuba or Venezuela and set off a potential second Cuban Missile Crisis?
I sure as heck don’t trust Obama in that situation. And at this point, I don’t know why I should trust Sarah Palin.

Since when does being a woman mean that you are pro-choice? The most intelligent women will value life. The time to be pro – choice is way before a baby is conceived. After a baby is conceived it becomes too late to choose. McCain for president based on this one issue alone.
Posted by: Shannon | August 29, 2008, 10:14 am 10:14 am
I can’t believe he would choose this Sarah Palin person. When the biggest attack McCain has on Obama is that he lacks experience – he brings on his own VP with even less? No way. I’d be shocked. And, McCain is 72 years old. His father dropped dead before he was McCain’s age, and so did his father’s father! This would really be stupid. I can’t believe some of you Republicans think this is a good idea. I still say its Romney – he’d be a fool not to. But then again…

McCain has lost his mind. Palin will not be seen by anyone as ready to assume the presidency, and that – along with some aspects to fill in McCain’s many weaknesses – were the criteria he needed for his VP pick.
McCain’s diatribe about experience is a house of cards. Palin has almost zilch experience. This is political expediency at its most transparent.

Two things people have stated either totally wrong about the State Fair, or just off alittle.
The Alaska State Fair does not END until Sept 1st, so the post saying it was over Aug 22nd is wrong. It just started on Aug 21.
The fair is hour’s drive north from Anchorage. So Anchorage is the city people would know and thats probably why the spokesperson said it. Just as if a fair was outside of Buffalo, NY they would probably still say Buffalo in news reports.
Take a minute to do research before posting stuff. Its not hard to google “Alaska State Fair” lol.

“Which means that all Obama has to do to refute the “Obama doesn’t have the needed experience” argument is to point out that McCain has put a person with a thinner resume one heartbeat away from the presidency.”
First of all her resume is stronger. Slightly, but stronger none the less. Second, and here’s the real problem for Obama. If Obama points that out even once as you suggest he does, he gives instant credibility to the argument against him, and obliterates his own campaign. This is a genius choice.
Obama lacks experience at the top of the ticket, while McCain lacks it on the bottom. People vote for the top of the ticket. This election is clearly becoming about Women and gas prices, and this choice puts Obama on the road to Dukakisville.

From an Alaskan’s point of view…I had my doubts about Sarah when she became governor. However, I am a fan now. In 2 years she was able to do what other govs have not been able to do…get everyone (oil companies and politicians) off top dead center and get a gas line plan in place. She has shown that she is willing to hold oil companies accountable while still maintaining a partnership to responsibly develop our resources. Given our energy issues, she brings unique skills. Granted her foreign policy experience is limited…but she has experience working with Russia and Canada. A Canadian company won the competition to build our gas pipeline. Other positive notes…She is not part of the Ted Stevens mess. She is not an elitist. Her husband works on the north slope, she even kept her house in Wasilla rather than oiving into the mansion in Juneau. America will love this woman…just like most Alaskans do.

Palin has been a VP contender for months — and the choice would be perfect for McCain. 1) She’s a governor and she’s the only candidate that experience running anything. The only one who has executive experience. 2) She comes from Alaska — one of America’s answers to the energy crisis. 3) She’s immensely popular in the polls and has cleaned up corruption in Alaska. 4) She is heaven sent for McCain’s conservative base he wants to solidify. 5) Any Democratic attacks about McCain continuing Bush policies go out the window. No one is going to paint Palin as a Washington insider. She is as far away from Washington and Bush policies as you can get. 6) She will have tremendous appeal to the Hillary die-hards who are fixated on getting a woman in the White House. 7) She has no more or less foreign policy experience than Obama. 8) Her family background is also attractive to middle America. Her husband is a hard working fisherman, and they have 5 kids, one disabled. Sarah Palin IS the future of the Republican party and America. (I am just a voter and not involved in politics, but know a good candidate when I see one.)

Posted by: s.b. | August 29, 2008, 10:26 am 10:26 am
What a colossal mistake. Most of the GOP/conservative base is appalled that McCain is their nominee.
They wanted someone solid behind McCain who could take over if necessary and lend the strength McCain lacks. Palin’s inexperience and shaky performance as the Alaska governor is NOT going to cut it.
McCain’s keeps try to be clever. It’s too bad he is unable to listen to his own advisers and supporters.
Posted by: barthes | August 29, 2008, 10:27 am 10:27 am
I think this is a great choice. It puts to rest a lot of issues that may hinder McCain in the election. Granted she has only 2 years experience but so does Obama. I love this political race between the two parties. Should he pick Palin, I think it will energize this country and you will see voting in November unlike at anytime in history.
I am still waivering back and forth between the two candidates with a slight lean towards McCain, but I will make my final decision after the debates.
There Obama will have no teleprompters to read from so we will get a better understanding of what he would be like when he has to answer questions in “real time”.
It will also give us the ability to see if McCain is good on the national stage and doesn’t look “old”.
The VP picks just add excitement to each ticket, but won’t be my deciding factor in who I choose. I am voting for President not vice-president and I am not banking on that something will happen to either one of them once they get in office.

I don’t think this is a wise move, lets be honest McCains VP choice is far more important than Obamas because of the age thing and if he picks an unknown woman from Alaska its going to raise some concerns. Plus, can she go toe to toe with Biden in the debate?

It’s interesting to me that, of all the Dem criticism of Palin’s lack of experience, not one of you has yet said BHO has more experience than her. I challenge one of you, go on the record — tell me that a community organizer lawyer with with a few years in the State Senate and a mostly no-show term in the US Senate has more executive leadership experience than a former Mayor and sitting governor? Please, one of you tell me that!!!

Interesting potential choice, Palin. Has the credentials/credibility to appeal to a large segment of the US population – much more so than Biden. Obama will have a difficult time keeping a muzzle on Biden. Palin looks to be a perspective on domestic issues that McCain needs; Biden brings (regardless of his ‘loose cannon’ approach)foreign relations experience Obama lacks. I will give credit to both McCain and Obama for finding someone that at least looks to shore up their weaknesses. However, neither McCain or Obama have a vision for America. I will vote for the person that hope will do the least damage to our nation.

She’s a terrible choice. She’s inexperienced, and she’s in no way qualified to be the POTUS, and that was the primary criterion McCain needed in whomever he selected. What a political tool he has become.
McCain is as empty as they come. This is not the man who impressed me back in 2000.

It’s brilliant. It’s absolutely BRILLIANT. The second any dem suggests she is inexperienced it opens the door to define who really is the most inexperienced and JM never once had to bring the topic up. The fools took the bait pointing at a seated Gov in an executive position while JM Says since you brought up inexperience lets talk about this inexperienced man running for President. It’s FREAKING brilliant!! I LOVE THE GOP!!!!!!
CONFIRMED IT IS PALIN!!!

I look forward to see how big mouth Biden tries to attack a young, attractive mother of 5, as is his job. The entire DNC made it clear that they are going hard after women voters. The Obama campaign and Biden in particular are not going to be able to attack her at all, or they lose the women, and lose the election badly!

I’m an Alaska resident. Gov. Palin has been our governor for a short time, but in that time she has made reforms that have greatly benefitted our state. I have faith that she would continue to do so as our governor, and if nominated and elected as Vice President I will give my full support to her. Her track record is short but impressive, I feel she would do well as the Vice President.

The glass ceiling has just been busted open. A young vibrant conservative executive woman takes the stage and gives great life to the GOP ticket. If I were a cat I’d be marking every corner of my house right now I’m so excited!!! After reading the Democrat responses on here I know this choice is off the hook the best choice. They are shaking in their shoes. The GOP has done it! They outwitted the dems. YES YES YES!!

I hope it’s her. She’s a Republican reformer but with solid conservative credentials; great personal and family story ; not scared to take on the sacred cows; has good managerial experience outside of the governorship; and her “inexperience” in foreign affairs, etc. clearly is not the same as Obama’s…he’s running for the top spot after all. And in four years she’s in great shape, in terms of experience, to move up…could be a perfect tee-up for the first woman president.

RevoltOfTheGuard,
Yes, Republicans do think women are that stupid. In fact, they believe most voters are stupid. That is why they keep attacking their opponents while offering absolutely no new ideas on how to run the country. They’ll just re-package their same tired old ideas and raise fear of their opponent. The fact that GWB was elected twice proves they believe voters are stupid.
Posted by: indy_voter | August 29, 2008, 10:53 am 10:53 am
hee hee: Well I’m glad you have to get back to your real life now. I’m guessing that’s making sure mom did your laundry and you’re not late for your womyn’s studies lecture – yeah, I hated morning classes when I was a kid too.
Just an FYI, saw the speech and it was good. I’ve never denied that Barry can deliver a good speech when he’s got a telepromter in front of him and a friendly audience in front of him. Of course take away either of those elements and the man stinks on ice and you know it, otherwise Mr Change-Hope wouldn’t have run like a scared little biatch from the threat of townhall meetings when Maverick proposed the idea. Also, I love how you Obots are now so concerned that McCain, a genuine war hero and a man who was a POW for 5+ years, not sully his honorable service. Funny, when Kerry was our standard bearer we couldn’t brag enough about his time in Vietnam, and why not – he had a compelling story to tell and the Repubs have always smeared Democrats as being weak on the military. Now of course you lot have forced a candidate on us that not only has nothing comparable to offer, he’s friends with a freakin’ terrorist – or was the Weather Undergound an a capella singing group?
Yes, you’ve got more coverage – heck the MSM was so in the tank for Obambi that Hillary never really stood a change did she? She’d give a speech and wow the house they’d bury the lead, he’d successfully put on his shoes and it would be the lead story at 6 and 10. As for pitch perfect, it was so damn good that everyone not already a kool-aide drinking true believer was wondering what the message was until Hillary defined it for you and save Obambi’s bacon. That’s right, Obama owes his 6pt bounce to the woman he SCREWED over to get there. Funny how that works isn’t it? We’re supposed to suck it up and get over it for the good of a corrupt party’s inexperienced and unready candidate but without Hillary your man would be neck deep in sh*t right now. Nice to see it flows both ways. Oh, and as for the more money meme, really? You’re sure about that? The fund raising goal that Obama’s team needed to meet to make sure he had all the cash on hand he needed and enough to fund parthy operations was $100 million a month for the last three months. So far he’s yet to break the $70 million mark. That means either his campaign or the Party will take it in the shorts when funds start running low. I’m betting THE ONE isn’t the one coming out on the short end of that stick.
BTW, loved the whole tree-house, chainsaw metaphor. It made absolutely no sense, wasn’t apt to the event it described at all, and yet clearly conveyed a sense that you didn’t know what you were talking about but thought you were being clever. If I didn’t know better I’d swear you were actually the O-man himself.

Would that be the America hating, terrorist loving, rascist riding the Donkey? hahahahahahahahaha
Biden is in the bathroom throwing up right now with his hot air attack like tactics during a debate now destroyed. They just sucker punched him with that. hahaha I love the GOP. This was BRILLIANT.

Terrible pick as you don’t get Hillary’s by picking a fairly attractive 40-something lady (who looks like a MILF to me). She has the sexy librarian look with those weird glasses.
Anyhow, I think this seals McCain’s doom. The obvious line of attack is that it is preposterous for the oldest President ever to select a 44 year old woman with 5 children.
Despite her career she has responsibilities as a mother which make her wholly unqualified to serve as President of the United States.
That’s not sexism, it is reality. There are choices we all make in our lives. If you have 5 children, you should not be the laby-in-waiting for the most powerful position on planet earth.
A 50-something woman with no kids is a totally different ballgame.
What a completely bizarre selection.

I’m a lifetime member of the Republican party.John is a great American and patriot. I would of been more comfortable with him as V.P. instead of President. Picking Palin is a political move to ensure the woman vote. Don’t know much about her. I really think Romney would of been a better choice.
The problem with politics today is being President is the worse job in the world and most politicians don’t want the job and responsibilty. Let’s face it, even if you are a great President, at least 40% of Americans are against you. This is why incompetents like Obama get nominated and unknowns are being pulled out of the hat…
Republicans are going to lose if they don’t turn out in big numbers this election. Say what you want, the Democrats will be out there in full force and that will be the reason Obama will get in.

Palin is connected to and is a player in BIG OIL (TransCanada Corp and Exxon Mobil), not to mention the whole . How long do you think she’ll be perceived as HAWT when people find out she’s married to a “dirty” Yup’ik Eskimo/American Indian?
I wonder if her husband’s gonna be at the convention? I think they’re just trying to shut her up about the bad oil politicians in Alaska by taking her out of the governorship/out of Alaska!
There’s no need to attack Palin.
The Repugs will do enough to hurt her themselves.
She’s great on the wedge issues, but the wedge issues are a bit in the background…keeping houses out of foreclosure is in the foreground. Figure that one out, you “Compassionate Conservatives” who made TONS of money selling bad (ninja) loans that broke the people, the banks and the US taxpayer!

You can’t be serious? What am I saying, you’re an O-bot you aren’t smart enought to have a sense of humor. Ok, so Palin, with 10 years of executive experience, 2 of those as Governor of a state that is as large as the continental US, isn’t ready to be CiC but the very very junior senator for Illinois, a man with 0 (that’s zero, zed, zip, none, nada) executive experience somehow is because he’s got what, 143 days in the Senate?
Notice anything here? There’s a mental disconnect required to be an Obama supporter. You have to get an Obatamy to think this man is qualified to do anything. Someone once said, “You know, I am a believer in…in knowing what you’re doing when you apply for a job. Uh, and I think that…if I were seriously to consider running on a national ticket, I would essentially have to start now, before having served a day in the Senate.” That person was Barak Obama.
In the experience departement Palin trumps Obama, hands down.

What a way to begin the Republican Convention. Former Prez Carter must have had an insight when he predicted his party man had no chance of winning – it was by how small of a margin he lost taht counted.
Now all families that have children with disabilities will have a great advocate as the POTUS! What a great day for all!

Some may be surprised that a woman’s uterus does not vote the woman does.
Sara Palin is a strong woman.
I always supported dems but never was for abortion. Yes in certain cases, rape, incest, mothers health, now I know it will never be overturned, no one wants women to go back to the ways they had to get abortions, many dieing for them.
This is a wonderful day in history.

“America should elect McCain & Palin for the Whitehouse in November,
for a return to wholesome American values.”
How wholesome is a marriage not in a Church? (Palin Eloped) How wholesome is a failure of principle to not even support your own legislation once you begin the candidacy for president? How wholesome is the failure to give a tax cut to 95% of Americans, while talking about how tax cuts will help the people of America? How wholesome is the flip flop Candidate McCain now has of the position Senator McCain held about the Bush Tax cuts!
Wholesome is about standards and values.
The Republicans have neither! Republicans/Conservatives sway with whatever the disloyal Multi-national corporations want while convincing you that they’re really “Christians” as they (and many of the evangelists) live in conflict with everything Christ stood for and acted against.
The 1950′s were filled with division and hatred for the American people by American people. The 1950′s are over.
We don’t need a return to the 1950′s, we need a president who will who protect and assist in creating more great Americans in the 2050′s!
Obama/Biden for a better 2050
McCain/Palin for a return to 1950

At least we know what the Dem’s line of attack will be now.
1) Sarah Palin is a bad mother for campaigning when her son needs her so much. Funny, they’d have aborted the kid but they’re concerned with his welfare? Right.
2) Sarah Palin isn’t experienced enough to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Obambi is? The Dems candidate is a man with no achievements of note, no record as a legislator, and no executive experience what so ever, but he’s more qualified than Palin because of what? Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?
3) Sarah Palin is tied to big oil! Yeah, in that she’s a known reformer who took it to big oil to make sure that the oil companies didn’t screw Alaskans out of their share of the revenue. If we need anything more than someone who knows the oil industry and knows how to control and regulate them, please tell me what that is.
Desperate. Unqualified. Obama.
NOBAMA ’09! PUMA!!

Palin will be a champion for special-needs children and is being put in a position to make massive changes to the way they live their lives in this country. Sean, you can spit at Palin all you want, but the fact of the matter is this: if her husband were the one taking a VP slot, you wouldn’t say a thing. She’s been the governor of a massive state, so I would imagine that she and her husband have had this arrangement worked out already and they don’t need our help. :-)

To read the comments here, you would almost start to believe that John McCain was leading in the polls.
The reality, of course, is that the Democrats have taken away the mantle of financial conservatism and of respect for the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Crippled by the failed Bush presidency, the current Republican party can make no argument save that Obama & Biden rhymes with Osama Bin Laden. Truly embarrassing. Now John McCain must stand on a stage with George W. Bush and condemn the policies that Bush stands for, in front of a crowd of the last remaining Bush voters.
Beyond the rhetoric, Republican party members talk of 15-point defeats. They are not wrong. Maybe if the Republican party one day excises those who resent individual freedom, true Americans would return to the party. Unfortunately, at the current time, they seem to continue to court the vote of those who would turn America into Iran.

She’s being investigated by the Alaska legislature for ordering the dismissal of Alaska’s public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.
If true,it’ll be seen as another abuse of power. We don’t need another perceived crook.Especially a potential president whose resume is so short and thin.McCain has just forfeited his two major assets as a candidate:long experience in government and strong commander-in-chief credentials.Because McCain’s age means that, even more than usual, voters will be looking at Palin as a potential president as much as a potential vice president.McCain’s main criticism of Obama has been his “lack of experience,” but then he chooses a VP candidate who makes Obama look like a seasoned pro by comparison! He’ll pay a price on Election Day.What a terrible choice.

Still, no Dem has taken me up on my challenge to answer this question affirmatively:
Barack Obama has more executive leadership experience than Sarah Palin.

[]No
I am left to conclude that no one will answer “yes” because, unless they are running for or holding public office, even Dems are unwilling to flat-out lie. Instead, they prefer to deflect and deceive, which is more slick and ultimately more effective.
Posted by: Brazos Dave | August 29, 2008, 1:02 pm 1:02 pm
In my humble opinion, I don’t think that this election really matters.
Let’s look at the issues that the Republicans and Democrats both Support:
• Invasion and Occupation of Iraq
• Patriot Act
• Invasion of Afghanistan
• Kosovo War
• Increased Military Budget
• Death Penalty
• Corporate Agriculture
• Drug War
• Telecommunications Deregulation – Giveaway of public broadcast spectrum to private companies.
• Bank Deregulation and Banking Reform – Do I hear sub prime mortgage anyone?
• Expanded (Global) Corporate Power Trade Agreements and Institutions (NAFTA, FTAA, CAFTA, WTO)
Now look at the issues that both the Republicans and Democrats both oppose:
• Global Warming – Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• National Health Insurance
• Real Campaign Finance Reform & Publicly Financed Elections
• Electoral Reforms & Democracy
• 2000 Florida Election – Congressional Investigation
• Reform of the Presidential Debate Commission
• Strict Standards on Genetically Modified Organisms
Now let’s look at where the Republicans and Democrats differ but only slightly and not enough to make a difference in our lives:
• Increased Accounting Oversight – Republicans oppose, Democrats opposed until the Enron scandal broke and then they changed their stance in order to grandstand
• Labor: Wages and Unions – Republicans Oppose raising minimum wages and have worked to weaken unions and labor standards.
• Democrats have very minimal support for workers through incremental minimum wages increases, claim to support worker’s rights but refuse to overturn Taft-Hartley Act restrictions on union organizing. Democrat Platform is silent on Taft-Hartley and living wages.
• Clean Water – Republicans oppose clean water. President Bush wants to delay a 9 month order to reduce arsenic in drinking water. Democrats have weak support for clean water. Bill Clinton delayed action for 8 years before signing an order just before Bush took office.
There is one issue however that there is enough difference between the two parties to merit a reasonable debate:
• Right to choose – Republicans oppose, and there is questionable support for the right to choose in the Democratic Party. Former President Bill Clinton signed the same ban in November, 1999. Al Gore favored outlawing late-term abortion in the US. Sen. John Kerry is opposed to a ban on partial-birth abortions.
Is this REALLY the only issue that matters? No wonder why Corporate America has been steadily eroding the quality of our lives and the security of our nation is at an all time low. Come on people. Wake up! Stop bickering over the color of the paint while the termites are eating away at the foundation of our society.

Voting for McCain based on the fact he picked a women as his VP is a slap in Hillarys face. That’s exactly the kind of thing Hillary stood against.
Obama picked someone who actually knows what a VP does and actually knows how to deal with a country and foreign affairs.. not a town with a population of under 10,000.

McCain must be out of his mind.
She is a first term governor, so he flip-flopped on the whole experience article.
Before that, she was the mayor of a city of 5,000 people.
She is under investigation for abusing her public office to settle a personal issue with her brother-in-law.
And her biggest supporter is Ted Stevens-also under investigation for political corruption.
McCain could have made better choices in his attempt to pander to women.

He still have the same ideals as the last president we had for the last 8 years. Do we want to go through 4 more or so years. We need a new look on the World. We have so many problems in this world. Wow he picked the governor of the largest state in the United States. That’s pretty smart. Even though Alaska’s population isn’t as large as some other states, the logistics in Alaska are huge. The demands of running this state would have prepared her to be president of the lower 48.

all i can say is that I will not be voting for mccain. i don’t care if she is female. i believe that a woman has the right to choose. no government or person should be telling me what i can or can’t do with my own body. don’t forget there is also a state investigation going on. besides which she has a squeaky voice. she looks totally uncomfortable. maybe because it’s a national telecast and not a state one. that’s all.

Do she realize she is just a token. The republican had other font runners. McCain saw how succesful Obama DNC went, so he deciced he need to go another route to get more voters. SMART MOVE. He still have the same ideals as the last president we had for the last 8 years. Do we want to go through 4 more or so years. We need a new look on the World. We have so many problems in this world. What do you think Mccain is going to do to get us out. She is only VP not President. There is only so much input she has.

Crap, I hope she’s not at the fair…we’re going tomorrow! Sarah needs to take a step back, realize she’s WAY out of her league, and stick closer to home. I was sad to see her in the Governor’s mansion, but she truly has got no place in the White House!

Crazy redneck, I heard of him. When it comes down to a final decision, who you think is going to make it President or VP. Now LOL at that. Democrats who vote for Republicans because of a women is involved are sorry to say stupid. You look at the issues. Who you think will be the better President for the United States.
1. Economy
2. High gas Prices
3. Deficit
4 taxes
5. mortgage crisis
6. unemployment rate
7. jobs being moved over seas
These are some of the issues you should be think of. Not because there is a women is involved. Of course I am women and this is what I thinking about when I vote. The future for my kids and grandchildren.

Hey Larry, you said, “How about this question:
John McCain has more executive leadership experience than Sarah Palin.
[]Yes
[]No”
I’m willing to be intellectually honest here and say “NO”. McCain has executive leadership experience, however, as a Navy Captain who commanded the 174th Attack Squadron and was Director of the Navy Senate Liaison Office. But, in truth, those probably don’t add up to governor of a state.
So, Larry, here’s the real question — are you intellectually honest enough to answer it truthfully?
How about this question:
John McCain has more executive leadership experience than Barack Obama.
[]Yes
[]No

Crazy_Redneck, Do not complain if McCain is but in office Like bush was the second term and the United States goes down the toilet more. We have high gas prices, economy sucks, people losing their jobs because the jobs being moved over seas, asking China for money, middle class people barely living pay check to pay check, grocery price increse, mortgage crises, people losing their homes, stock market, unemployment rate high, deficit. We had a surplus when we started Bush term now look where we are. Money being spent on a war that should not have started from the begin. All the fathers, mothers daughters, brothers lives lost. Surge is working now in Iraq, but what about Pakistan. We need some new ideals in White House. When I check out the RNC and no new ideals come to play. McCain just flip-flopping on the issues because thats what he think the people want to hear. Then I will decided who is best to run the United States of America.

With the stench coming from Alaskan politics I am surprised McCain would risk it.

Renee,
First, I’m sorry if this seems like a personal affront to you, but could you be more diligent to proofread your posts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation? Your arguments would be more compelling if they were presented more literately.
Second, you recited a whole litany of complaints that are largely factually incorrect. The accusations make great political theater, but they would be more persuasive if they were true.
Finally, even if things are as you say they are, I believe Obama’s policies would make things worse, not better. Socialism will not work to the advantage of the USA.

Dave, my comment was intended to make the point that none of the candidates, for either president or vice president, can make a case that they are qualified on the basis of “executive leadership experience” – it’s not even close for any of them. Everyone will have to make their own judgment about how the experience they do have stacks up.

Crazy_Redneck, Wrong politics is why we are where were at today. New is just a expressing.I am saying we do not need another 4 more years of wrong politics/ leadership. We need LEADERSHIP with better ideals to get use out of the mess we are in. You assume Obama do not have that leadership role. That is your right to your opinion. McCain is Bush twin 90% of the time. So do you think we are going to get out of this mess when twins think a like?

All the facts I stated are correct. You might not be going through some of them, so (coma comes before but/so) You are disconnected to what is going on. Never before have so many dumb comments by Dimocrats taken up so much space in an even dumber Blog site. The country had better start worrying about how fast the public IQ (intelligence quotient for some of you more stupid Dems)keeps droping for some 48+% of the voters. Give it another 5 yrs. and the avg will drop to under 95. It already broke 100 the yr Willy P.Clinton was elected.

Don’t recall who posted the list of all the things wrong with the country, too lazy to scroll up. But I can guarantee that the number one issue causing all the trouble is the high gas prices. It affects every facet of our lives.
And just WHO is responsible for the high gas prices? McBush? McCaim? Palin? FIX News? NO!!!
It’s the democrats in congress and the senate. It’s Harry NoReide. It’s Queen Nancy. They must make sure that the economy is stalled.
Elect more democrats. We need the higher gas prices.

Palin is disgusting.
She is NOT there for her 5 children and LEAVES a newborn Downs Syndrome son within 3 days to get back to her office?
She is repulsive.

In light of ‘old shcool’ scare tactics: Any possibility that Ms. Sarah Palin may become our President is just a possibility.
It is NOT a statistical probability that Palin might be sworn in as a U. S. President within the next term.
The biased media are making far too much over Palin becoming our next President. Give it a rest.
Palin has taken on political corruption, and not just on the other side of the isle! The fact that Palin is still politically alive and well as a viable Vice Presidential candidate speaks as to why she is respected on both sides of the isle. She has an 80% approval rating!
Fair minded Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike should not allow Palin’s to be ‘dissed’ by haters. And, though it may not mean much to some people, Palin did it all while raising 5 children.
Sarah Palin is NOT an old school conservative. Palin is a social conservative with the vision, will, and energy to conduct non-partisan politics.

Ray DeMuth:
“Right to choose – Republicans oppose, and there is questionable support for the right to choose in the Democratic Party. Former President Bill Clinton signed the same ban in November, 1999. Al Gore favored outlawing late-term abortion in the US. Sen. John Kerry is opposed to a ban on partial-birth abortions.”
This is all basically wrong.
1) Republicans don’t oppose abortion rights, the party leaders do. Polls done by the Republican Majority for Choice and others show support for legal abortion under some or most circumstances among registered Republicans is actually quite strong. In fact, in their latest poll released last week, nearly 80% of Rs stated that they want the GOP to change its platform to an “agree to disagree” position on this issue.
2) Democrats’ support for a woman’s right to choose is not questionable. Nearly 70% of Americans want Roe v. Wade to remain the law of the land, and the bulk of that support comes from registered Democrats.
3) Bill Clinton never signed a ban on so-called “partial-birth” abortion. He vetoed it twice, because it did not contain an exception to protect a woman’s health. Al Gore and John Kerry have expressed similar views, and the latter has voted against that ban every time it has been considered in the U.S. Senate.
4) Roe v. Wade allows bans on “late-term” (post-viability) abortion, and most pro-choice organizations and supporters do not oppose such bans. They simply have to contain an exception for when a woman’s health or life is threatened, a requirement that pro-lifers find unacceptable.
And why even bring up any of these specifics, really? Palin’s position is not nuanced. She opposes legal abortion in all circumstances. Full stop. That will help her with some, but hurt her with some, too.

After reading this blog, many, many, many of the people here scare the heck out of me!
ANYONE who is excited about a political nominee as potential VP of the U.S., who is seeking to COMPLETELY outlaw a woman’s imminent domain over her reproductive choices; a woman who said, and was chronicled in a 2006 Anchorage Daily News article as saying…”I’m in favor of the Bridge to NOWHERE;” yet, stated on the national stage TODAY, that she said “thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere;” a woman who FIRED the state’s public safety director because he ALLEGEDLY stopped her from dismissing a state trooper, who was once married to her sister, which is also now under investigation; a person who “DOES NOT believe Global Warming is man made;” a woman who said she could care less about the extinction of polar bears, thus, the melting of the polar ice caps; a woman who has absolutely NO foreign policy experience; and is on the record as saying she pays little attention to the Iraq war; and the list goes on and on…..
Those of you excited, and/or in favor of Sarah Palin as the Vice President of this country are SMOKING CRACK!
Whoo Weeeeee….Too bad that bridge to nowehere wasn’t built because I’d like to see those of you in favor of a McCain/Phalin ticket cross that bridge and NEVER COME BACK!
No wonder this country, and the entire world for that matter is literally doomed!

Ray,
I respectively say to you as a WOMAN that Palin’s “abortion positon” will HURT her with MOST, and at best, help her with a FEW!
Posted by: Hvnly777 | August 29, 2008, 10:33 pm 10:33 pm
My god why in the world would McCain pick Palin, now im not saying this as a democrat or republican because im an independent, this actually makes me wanna vote for Obama even more because what if McCain was the president and then he dies from cancer, then the president would be a woman who is from alaska with only 10,000 people. This in my view as and independent is so reckless, John McCain has just FAILED his first decision as a nominee as president, at LEAST Obama who i know doesn’t have alot of experience has the sense to pick Joe Biden a 67 year old senator with extensive national security record. Now i know whoevers reading this will go well McCains reckless or Obamas inexperienced, but we have to look at the big picture here John McCain is 72 years old he has had cancer 4 times and takes so many pills just to get through the day and then u have Obama who has been a senator of illinois is a black man and does have the support of hillary voters. But you have to admit both of these men could die in 2009, and what McCain has done with his Vp choice is so RECKLESS that it just scares me not as a dem or rep or even independent but as an American. McCain has just put the country maybe the world in danger all because he picked Palin a woman from alaska who really is not ready for not even a senators seat, i would rather have another 4 years of bush and cheney than McCain and Palin, this is just NOT FUNNY ANYMORE do the right thing Americans vote for Obama and biden they give us a better shot at americas future, but McCain and Palin is just another 9/11 day i don’t want that please do the right thing.

Good Gawd Almighty!!! American, H777, the rest of you nutcases, put down the crack pipe. Try to think logically, I know it’s hard for some of you.
Palin would be, listen hard now, VICE President. Obammy would be PRESIDENT. He would be making decisions immediately. And given his record at the Saddleback show, he couldn’t make a decision on what to have for breakfast.
Palin has been, listen harder now, GOVERNOR and before that a Mayor. In the words of Colonel Jessup, “She eats lunch next to 40 billion Russians”. She has been to Iraq, she has a son going to Iraq, she has endured childbirth, she has FIRED A GUN – that alone is more than Obammy has done in his “community organizer” life.
On Abortion. Why is it that liberals don’t give a damn about saving the weakest among us, a helpless baby, yet want to save every snail darter and polar bear that ever existed? Thank goodness that most who favor it are liberals. You idiots will abort yourselves out of existence.
Ahhh, VICE President Palin. Love the sound of that.

The Republican Party has been high-jacked by the religious right as McCain’s selection of Palin proves. I thought McCain might bring some sanity to back to the party but it turns out experience does count and he is following the George Bush/Carl Rove play book of appealing to the “Gun tottin, God fearin” mob with his choice of Sarah Palin. The least you can say for George Bush is that he picked Cheney, whatever you may think of him, he is no light weight. Another trait about McCain that makes me very uncomfortable is his quick shoot from the hip decision making process. His selection of Palin seems to be a perfect example of this. This seems very similar to George W. Bush’s decision making methodology which landed us in $3 Trillion and counting war without end. And I’m not a democrat. I voted for Bush the first go around. But McCain just doesn’t seem to have the necessary personality traits to be an effective executive. He lost my potential vote for good with his selection of Palin.

Can we say Desperate!!!
It is obvious McCain’s trying to gain support from (some) Hillary supporters and aiming towards WORKING MOMs WITH CHILDREN.
I’m sorry but it’s back fired royally. PTA meetings and monthly council meeting isn’t enough.
Actual Working Mom’s do not Trust Palin and believe she is just a puppet.
YES, she is no Hillary or Oprah.
YES, she is not the INSPIRATION and CHANGE we want representing all of us.
Her resume is weak. It’s high school all over again and Miss Alaska is the two face prom queen.
Let’s VOTE for a WOMAN who REALLY WANTS to MAKE A CHANGE.
Instead of voting for someone following the click.
SHAME ON YOU, McCain for choosing a DESPERATE woman (who’s been losing supporters in ALASKA) for your own selfish and fraught plans.
IF YOU 18 YRS OLD OR JUST BECAME A US CITIZEN, PLEASE REGISTER TO VOTE.
WE ALL HAVE A VOICE, BY NOT VOTING YOUR VOICE WILL BE SILENT.

This just in: Well, it’s official. The Democratic National Committee has ceased to exist. That’s right, on 09-11-08, the 7th anniversary of the 09-11-01 attacks, the DNC for lack of a better analogy, has been consigned to the dustbin of history. Wherein, it has joined such notables as the former Soviet Union, mood rings, and disco. So long DNC, it’s been real. America needs a two-party system, but the DNC could run on fumes for only so long. It’s up to Barack Obama to restructure the platform. And, perhaps he’s the man for the job. Now the DNC had sputtered along nursing its panoply of grievances, eye poking, finger pointing, hair pulling, and nail biting from which it garnered a more than substantial income. But shortly after 09-11-01, the DNC also collapsed into a pile of smoke & rubble. Did most Democrats / Liberals truly have nothing in common with, and dislike the very people they relied on to get them elected? D’oh! What happened and why, will no doubt be fodder for more practiced wits than my own; but one thing’s certain: the DNC is done, the Democratic Party is over. The McCain campaign is either off the tracks or really twisted.
“And now, today, in an attempt to say that the firing of former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan was not due to his refusing to fire Palin’s ex-brother-in-law, the McCain campaign actually tells the AP, “The last straw, the McCain campaign said, was in July, when Monegan planned to travel to Washington to seek federal money for a plan to assign troopers, judges and prosecutors who could exclusively handle sexual assault cases — one of the state’s most intractable crime problems.”
http://sarahpalintruthsquad.wordpress.com/2008/09/16/palins-anti-rape-investigation-stance-raised-by-mccain-campaign-will-reporters-question/
IThe Philadelphia Inquirer reports from Anchorage
In a July 7 e-mail, John Katz, the governor’s special counsel, noted two problems with the trip: The governor had not agreed the money should be sought, and the request “is out of sequence with our other appropriations requests and could put a strain on the evolving relationship between the Governor and Sen. Stevens.”
Monegan was fired four days later.
Why highlight the fact that Palin was actively against helping vulnerable women in order to preserve her relationship with the first sitting senator to be indicted since 1993 Ted Stevens.
Either they know not what they do or they are using psy-op tactics on American women.
