McCain’s ‘Vegas Vacation’

ABC News’ Eloise Harper reports: Reporters covering the McCain Campaign today received credentials titled "McCain National Pool, Las Vegas, Nevada."   The credentials include an image from the 1997 movie "Vegas Vacation," showing the actor Chevy Chase splayed across a roulette table, flush with cash. While Sen. Barack Obama is on a Hawaiian vacation, McCain will address veterans in Las Vegas today and his campaign has made a point to highlight his opponent’s departure from the trail. Earlier today, McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds quipped that Sen. Obama was not only on vacation from the campaign but also on vacation in regards to his voting record about Yucca Mountain, the potential storage site for nuclear waste in Nevada. “Apparently Barack Obama  is also taking a vacation from the facts, ignoring his own votes in support of the Yucca Mountain project," Bounds wrote in a press statement.  This was a response to an ad Sen. Obama had released regarding Sen. McCain’s voting record.

I’m more concerned with what the candidates are saying NOW about Yucca Mountain and it is John McCain that continues to support the opening of the depository which as a Nevadan I am against.

I wonder how many McCain supporters will continue to try masquerading as former Clinton supporters from now to the election?
Any Clinton supporter that refuses to support Obama should be proud of playing their role in continuing our nation’s downfall (by continuing the same policies that Bush has set up) and for helping to overturn Roe vs Wade (thanks to retirements in the Supreme Court)
Vengence won’t seem so sweet then, will it?

Boy oh boy, what a mess we have this election….step back just for a second, and look at these two running for President of the USA. Some choice.
I really can’t imagine voting at all this time. It will be the first time in
10 I will not. Neither of these individuals have anything that will improve this nation, particularly at this critical juncture in our history.

McCain’s current MO is to mock Obama for everything he can, including his popularity. Maybe Obama is popular because he has a better energy plan, because he is right about Iraq, because he has a plan to deal with our health crisis and our education crisis and our mortgage crisis. Maybe Obama is popular because he is smart and fair and honest, not snide and jealous and nasty. I loose more respect for John McCain every day.

Does anybody care what McCain says any more?
Nope.

The veterans that invited McCain to speak also invited Obama to speak. Obama declined. He has only one thing scheduled during his vacation: a “dinner” with lobbyists who are raising money for him. How’s that for love of country?

Yes I think it’s obvious Debra is a shill. Also notice the racial keywords “HUGE EGO” implying arrogant or uppity. Give me a break! McCain has sold his soul to Carl Rove. These neo-cons need to go back to the swamp from which they came.

Did you know that Barrack Obama is literally the most inexperienced candidate for President ever?
He lacks any military experience, never served as a governor, has a very brief US Senate tenure, never created any meaningful legislation — when compared to most presidential candidates in American history he comes up short.
The only thing Barrack is counting on to get him elected is race. That’s sad.
The DNC and the media selected a pathetic candidate. This country needs Hillary to lead us. If she’s not on the ballot, I’m voting AGAINST that ridiculous, phony, arrogant Obama.

Will the press cover McCain’s gambling?
We know that his staff has advised him from actually playing the roulette table on the casino floors, but he has previously arranged to have a table in his suite on other trips.
He’s known to be quite the “High Roller”…with Cindy’s money, that is.

“McCain will address veterans in Las Vegas today”
The only eight words in the story that count. The rest is blathering.

Wow. This country is in for a very das chapter in its great history. Even sadder than Bush, and that is saying a lot. I cannot believe how many people continue to woo after Obama, refusing all facts and believing whatever the media says. Fact is, McCain told Obama that before he goes deciding to make uninformed decisions on the war, that maybe he should … I dunno, talk to the generals? Visit Iraq? See what is really going on perhaps? McCain even offered to take Obama with him on his last visit. Of course Obama couldn’t do that, it would prove that McCain was right. Oh, and there was little to no press coverage on any of McCains visits. Then after enough time passes, Obama FINALLY makes his visit to Iraq, and what do you know? Every media outlet in the world is all wooing over his visit. Please. And all the Obama flunkies say “Look! Obama is there risking his neck while McCain is at home!” Seriously, you people need to wake the heck up!!

I am still voting for the most uplifting candidate there is in this election cycle. He deserves a little R & R with his family. Isn’t it sad that people constantly want to tear him down? I get the feeling that people are afraid of his positive message. I for one need some good news.

Perhaps a history lesson is in order for some…
If the public and the media are so much more racist than sexist, then perhaps someone can explain why women were still treated like property after the Civil War and why they didn’t get the right to vote until decades later…

Obama’s underhanded use of the race card against Hillary got him through the primaries full of liberals. But the broader electorate has seen this gutter politics played against anything and everything before (Republicans, racial preferences, welfare reform, immigration enforcement, etc.) and is inured to it. If everything is racist, then nothing is racist. Obama has been nominated based on the color of his skin and ability to read a teleprompter and has nothing else to offer America.

Beth, John McCain’s campaign should recruit you. You seem like a nice, genuine person who enjoys long walks on the beach and an occasional nonsensical smear.
Not only did you not credit McCain in your post, you tore down Obama. You write almost as though you know what you are talking about. But I know how you can nail it for sure next time. Just write, “I am naive.” about ten times.

Now that McCain has found his voice… Tucker Bounds…. he can say the most ludicrous things and Tucker sets the record straight for him. These bozos will probably be major players in a McCain Presidency. Like propping him up when he can’t get anything straight. Of course these negative attacks are being reported by the media as “cute” “fun” and “McCain’s Style.”

mR. cOFFEE:
So….YOU ARE GOING TO SLOG BACK THROUGH THE GROUNDS OVER TWENTY EIGHT YEARS TO DIG UP DIRT ON McCain?
Are you also going to dig through the trash to find all the medals he earned, and the physical and emotional pain HE suffered while imprisoned as a POW for five years of his life?
Are you going to mention that he could have gotten out of prison rather quickly but chose not to accept the conditions offered him until ALL his men were released?
I can forgive a man’s sin; He has to live with that and I have my own to worry about.
But I DO admire bravery and loyalty in a man…..and McCain’s record of service to this country is substantial..

Don’t vote against McCain if your only pupose is to protect Roe versus Wade;
Aside from his reputation of working both sides of the congress, you have a Democratic Congress as double protection.
Teamwork!

Quite a bit of fear-mongering there, Gary. I thought your candidate was all about HOPE.
Well, my HOPE is that the DNC will listen to my voice now, before I vote against them in November.
When is the last time you remember one candidate getting the most votes in the primaries and another candidate being hand-picked by the party to be the nominee?
The DNC is stupid. You are in puppy love with The One. Your attempts to make PUMAs feel guilty are laughable. And, yes, vengance IS sweet.
If Obama loses in November, blame the DNC, not PUMAS. The DNC has a very easy way of getting our support — listening to our 18 million voices.

Jan them why did those 18 milliom people send their two bucks to the clinton campaign and pay down her debt seems to me that was a big deal when she lost. She did not need any help you her supporters would take care of it.I would say you and the republicans at this time are trying touse scar tactics .I think most people know better than to fall for that this time

A note to “Democrat”…..Thank You for posting an intelligent entry on this site.
I attempt to be Politically Correct, yet I picture the Obama detractors as being obese redneck trailer-trash, frustrated in their desire to halt the inevitable Obama victory.

Posted by: KimoJohnson | August 10, 2008, 6:00 pm 6:00 pm

becky, why would you vote against Obama when Hillary doesn’t meet your qualifications either? Did I miss her tour in Iraq? Her win for the Governor’s seat in…? Her extensive Senate tenure? If she can get over herself to endorse Obama then you should too.

Posted by: Phil | August 12, 2008, 2:06 pm 2:06 pm

McCain needs to stop attacking Obama on stupid issues, same OLD politics. He’s really not convincing anybody that Obama’s a poor candidate. Stick to what you think you can do for our country and convince us you’re ready to lead this nation.

Everytime McCain opens his mouth, it makes me cringe. Maybe I would trust McCain if he was not so negative. My mother always told me, if you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all. And all those negative ads about Obama do not impress me at all. Reminds me of an old washer woman.
