National Review: McCain Camp Sounding Out State GOPs on Pro-Choice Veep
EmailRich Lowry of the National Review reports that the campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., "has been calling key state GOP officials around the country the last couple of days and sounding them out about the consequences of a pro-choice VP pick. The campaign is asking about the reaction of conservative grass-roots activists to such a pick and whether a pro-choicer can be sold to them."

If he picks Tom Ridge, it will be a brilliant move. Ridge was a very popular governor of Pennsylvania, and it will likely (I’d say 60-40) win McCain PA. The Dems already have lost KY and WV, and OH is back to a tossup. This is going to be a close finish (unless the Dems come to their senses and nominate Hillary — which won’t happen).

He has strongly and consistently said he that he wouldn’t select a pro-choice VP candidate…until this week.
During the Saddleback forum, he said that he wouldn’t nominate Breyer, Ginsberg or Souter to the SC. We later learned that he’d voted to confirm all three of them.
Standing in front of the VFW, he pretends he’s some kind of champion for American veterans when he’s either not bothered to show up or voted against $5 billion in veteran benefits.
Is there anything that this guy can’t flip flop or lie about? Does he have any core principles other than the belief that all international problems can be solved by sabre rattling or war?

The media has become rather pathetic. I see the same headlines/talking points on every “news outlet”. Almost verbatim. Are you guys just regurgitating talking points as distributed or did you guys have drinks last night and decided the headlines for today. Any original reporting anywhere? Is anybody asking questions of the candidates?

PA still wouldn’t be in play if he choose Ridge. Same as MN if he choose Pawlenty.
The only blue state up for grabs is Michigan. Compared to all the reds states; Colorado, New Mexico, North Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, and Missouri

And yet McCain comes to MI and ticks off half the electorate every time he speaks. So much so, that he did an op-ed in the Detroit News over the weekend saying he will NOW support the auto industry. LOL!

The last two or three polls I’ve seen from Minnesota have shown Obama losing ground fast. His lead there is now down to two percentage points. Statistically, that would be a tie. I believe the same is taking place in Michigan.
And this all happened without McCain having even chosen Pawlenty or Romney yet.
