Obama Camp Responds to GOP Slams on Greek-Columned Stage for Obama Speech
Lots of slings and arrows headed Obama’s way for the Greek set for his speech tomorrow night.
"Tomorrow you’re going to see Obama come down from Olympus to be among us mere mortals," said former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, a Republican, to reporters today.
Republicans: The RNC poked fun at the "Temple of Obama" with an e-mail, including poor reviews for the set.
On the flight from Billings, Mont., to Denver, Colo., Obama senior strategist David Axelrod responded to the criticism.
"I know that Sen. McCain and his people have been shooting barbs about the ‘opulence’ of our convention from the mountaintop at Sedona at the McCain estate. I don’t think it warrants a response."
- jpt
UPDATE: I’m reminded that the McCain compound is actually in a valley, not atop a mountain. And to be technical, though McCain’s Arizona retreat is commonly referred to as being in Sedona, the closest town is actually Page Springs, which is about halfway between Sedona and Cottonwood.

The comeback from the Obama campaign about the mocking is McCain couldn’t fill a stadium of 25,000 much less 75,000. Karl Rove replied is Obama had one of his largest crowds in Pennsylvania before the the primary there and Hillary defeated him 2 to 1 so they should not be talking about ability to fill stadiums vs generating actual votes.

This election is extremely important. It saddens me to see that this mudslinging is all McCain’s supporters can come up with – this and hatred for Obama because he pushes a lot of their us/them buttons. Face it, guys. Your challenge with Obama is that you are afraid of him. Once you know where this is coming from, you can let it go because it is irrational. Breathe in, breathe out. He is not going to hurt you – in fact, this is a new day for our country. Four years from now, you lives will be better if Obama is elected. Four years from now, I hope you have health care for your family, that cars cost less because GM doesn’t have to add $1500 per car for health care, and that you are having a great time in your lives. I know that is hard to grasp, but I am praying for you -and it’s a tough job, belive me. Just remember, this election is for the future of our country, not some mudpit volleyball game.

I mention this for the people who won’t take the time to go to the picture you referenced.
Bush spoke in a convention hall and there were columns. It looked nothing like the stage setting Obama has had built. Nothing.
Have any of you actually gone to Drudge to see the stage? Then go to politico and look at the setting where Bush spoke in ’04 and get back to me.

From the mouth of rwers – “The comeback from the Obama campaign about the mocking is McCain couldn’t fill a stadium of 25,000 much less 75,000. Karl Rove replied is Obama had one of his largest crowds in Pennsylvania before the the primary there and Hillary defeated him 2 to 1 so they should not be talking about ability to fill stadiums vs generating actual votes.”
Is lying pathological with Republicans?
Pennsylvania 04/22
Obama 1,046,822 45.4%
Clinton 1,260,937 54.6%
Clinton +214,115 +9.2%
Or are is it a lack of math skills?
BTW in terms of generating “actual votes” Obama had at least 17,535,458 votes for him during the primary season. How many did McCain get?

Gas at $4 a gallon. Two wars. Osama and cronies resurgent. 51,000 people lost their jobs in July. Housing values fell more sharply during the 2nd quarter than at any time in history. 47 million Americans without health care. No wonder Rebublicans want to jabber about convention stages.

my mom.. (cute by the way)
that is a TYPICAL left wing extremists answer. first off, the steadfast comparison of mccain to bush is old and weak. and the old statement “things could always be worse” has never had more relevance than today. you people think and act like everyone who comes in here talking against obama, WANTS to support mccain. im a conservative, not a republican. believe me, i DONT want to vote for mccain. he’s not my favorite guy out there, thats for sure. but its one thing to maybe “take a chance” on a canidate and give him a shot. but the office of the president isnt the time or place to do it. and not to mention the canidate spills marxism every time he opens his mouth. things could always be worse.

Pretentious. Arrogant. You saw it at the State of the Union address when he turned from Hillary as Hillary greeted Ted so magnanimously. Why magnanimously? Because Ted had just endorsed this party’s annointed one that day. Sad, since BO has no experience, no record of accomplishment, and lacks the trust of mainstream Americans. Remember, 4 years ago he was voting present in the Illinois state legislature.

you’re exactly right. his numbers were falling before. he names his v.p. choice, no change. at the convention and no change. not to mention, those who are undecided usually end up leaning towards the canidate. sorry, i think barry has had his 15 minutes of fame.

Bush was on a stage with column backdrop not a stadium with props/sets for a movie. Let’s get the cost of both arenas….there would be no comparison. Bush WAS also President at the time of this acceptance, so whatever the stage, it looked appropriate.
This just feeds into Bozo’s arrogance and ego. More celebrity treatment, like 9 covers on TIME and McCain’s 2. I tell you when McCain wins and the liberal media have to take that and shove it, I will laugh my a– off.

Tim a point does not become moot just because you say so.
Most people identify themselves as moderate or don’t know. About 25 to 30% identify themselves as conservative (in varying flavors, from slightly to very) and about 20 to 25% identify themselves as liberal (again in varying flavors).

McCain and his campaign just come off as whiny little losers, who can’t stand the fact that Obama is constantly towering over them. They sound like little school kids, contantly hurling childish insults instead of focusing on the important issues. It is this mindset that Americans are tired of, it’s embarassing to McCain and it’s embarassing for America. It is also why McCain will lose by a bigger margin than most people are expecting. The GOP is a world class joke, and they will look even more foolish in retrospect, after Obama goes down in history as one of the greatest Presidents in American history. McCain is a half-wit, of course he’s going to pull the “elitist” card. My 8 year old nephew would score higher on the SAT than McCain. He used to be an American hero, now he is just a disgrace.

Comparing resume’s for job of Pres. Is there really any comparison? That’s why so many people are finally realizing why Obama’s campaign is truly a fairytale as Bill Clinton has stated. Obama barely has two years in Senate – with no acomplishments, a lot of very bad baggage and some pretty far out and failed ideas about how to run this country. What change? Well change from their own inept President, and the GOP Congress full of criminals that was thrown out on its ear in 2006.
How can the GOP represent change from itself? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to find out.
Also, I suspect that four days of ridicule of Obama and drumming up war with Iran and Russia will go over real well with the voting public as well.

The country has now seen how mean and his team are–the Karl Rove dirty politics operators. That is the kind of politcs that brought us to the dire place we are in now and that we MUST get away from. 1. If it is supposed to be the White House, it is cheesy.
2. If it is supposed to be reminiscent of MLK’s speech, it is arrogant.

Posted by: BBpd | August 27, 2008, 7:48 pm 7:48 pm
Barack Obama’s appearance in Denver won’t be the first convention speech framed by Greek columns.
Republicans who are mocking Obama’s appearance haven’t mentioned it, but George W. Bush accepted his own nomination in 2004 on a set with a similar neoclassical theme, with columns rising on either side of him, as the pictures above and below show.
Indeed, the Bush set and the Obama sets currently look strikingly similar, with the podium set well in front of the columns, and connected by a path.
The attachment to kitsch, particularly at political conventions, is clearly bipartisan. (There are also a couple of columns in America, as Matthew Yglesias notes.)

ok, to all of those in here who thinks obamas (and all other liberal politcians) plan of socialized health care is the answer, let me AGAIN ask this. first off, why would you trust the government with your health care?! is it because they have such a good track record with spending our money?! now you’re going to let them tell you what doctor to see? and what medicine you need? and let them make the financial decisions regarding your health care? you people look at these issues at face value and thats it. you obviously dont see the big picture with GOVERNMENT CONTROL and how it can spread. secondly, im not saying there arent problems with privatised health care!!!!! but, why do you people think it cant be fixed?! you instantly throw all ideas away and run to your “savior” (the government, and a know nothing politician) to HAND IT TO YOU. we the people are the answer, not the government.

but do not lump those of us who will not be voting for Obama because we don’t like his values or his lack of plans or his surly behaviour or his inability to think clearly on his feet…. into the same pot!
That would mean that you would also have to lump all the blacks who voted for Obama and dissed Hillary…..as racists .
And I choose not to believe that!

Kathy.
What did the war in Iraq do for us? For starters how about no terrorist attacks on our homeland since 911 – this was because our presence in Iraq FORCED the terrorists to PUT ALL THEIR EFFORTS INTO IRAQ …… AND NOT HERE!!!! We also knew even before our invasion of Iraq that Iran was going to be a problem – WHICH IT HAS BECOME. Now, Iran will not be able to take over Iraq which they had planned to do in order to launch their domination of the total mid-east area. Obama, nor most libs understand none of this.

We who are about to vote, salute you.
In 2001, Bill Ayers reaffirmed that he was glad to have bombed the Pentagon and only wished that he had done more. Obama was 40 then.
When Ayers threw his first fundraiser for Obama, Obama was 34 years old.
Obama served for years with Ayers at the Woods Fund and the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and was planning a run for federal office when his association with Ayers was clearly solid.
Ayer’s terrorist accomplice and wife, Bernardine Dohrn, worked as a paralegal with the law firm Sidley Austin where Michelle Obama was an attorney.
There’s nothing false, despicable and outrageous about these facts. They have been known by many for some time. Now people outside of Chicago are becoming familiar with Senator Obama, and those who have supported him.
Ayers (on Public Policy):
“Kill all rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at.”
Dohrn (on the Manson killings):
Dig it! First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!”
Obama (on Ayers):
“Respectable and Mainstream”
Many people will not want to come to grips with the real unfolding biography of Barak Obama, but we must continue to hope they will. Let the games begin.

i am so tired of this tired old chestnut…had we been under siege prior to 9/11? no, we had not. it is not completely out of the question to suggest that had the outcome of the 2002 election been different, 9/11 might never have happened in the first place. so while you die-hard bush supporters like to promote the politics of fear, the truth is that there is zero evidence that the war in iraq did anything to prevent further attacks.

“every credible country on earth agrred with intel that bush used to make his decision to go in.”
Two nations created the Iraq intel that was the prompt for us to go in, the British and ourselves. Both countries have been shown to have deliberately manipulated or falsified data to support military action in Iraq.
Bush ignored data from the International Atomic Energy, US weapons inspectors, the UN, & various NATO allies.
“if bush lied, so did the rest of the free world.”
If he lied? Where are the massive stockpiles WMD? Where were the nukes that could launch in 45 minutes? It was all LIES.
Not only di Bush and his admin lie. They had a covert CIA agent exposed to cover up his lies then had to pardon the asshat that was directly implicated in said exposure. There’s a word for that, its called treason.

Let’s see the 1st WTC attackers were arrested and tried and now sit in Supermax. Clinton attempted to hit Osama in 98 but rwers claimed he was trying to wag the dog.
Why did Osama want to kill us again? Oh yeah, American troops in Saudi Arabia protecting the Bush’s family favorite family the House of Saud.
Condi Rice claimed no one could have foreseen 9/11 even though she acknowledged a memo said exactly that in the hearings.
Bush ignored Osama being holed up in Tora Bora so we could start a war in Iraq.

That’s what the Canadians and Europeans originally thought – NOT NOW. The problem is that in general almost all gov run social programs are ripe with inefficiency and fraud. Yes, private plans do have promotional expenses, profits, etc. But minor compared to the boondoggle potential of a gov run program. I am on medicare and it is FAR INFERIOR to my company health plan. Actually a better question is why do you trust the free market which is based on profitability with something like your health?
Let the free market insurance compete with government single payer. Simply remove eligibility requirements from the current public plans.
The government doesn’t have to pay executive pay packages or for advertising or for lobbying efforts. Their overhead is dramatically lower than private insurance.

well said, and i agree. i think it is a huge shame that we cant provide health care for all americans. or at least those who abide by the law. but see you brought up a perfect point. you brought up social security and how people always get their checks. but do you realize how the government has stole our money from social security??!! im 30 years old. social security will NOT be there when i get ready to retire. why? beacuse the government couldnt keep their greedy little hands off of it and have been “borrowing” from its fund for years. BOTH PARTIES. not just dems or repubs, but both. and on top of that, they have known this for a long time ad have done NOTHING to repair this. so now let me ask again… do you trust them with your healthcare? the bigger and more control government gets, the more greed and corruption there will be. and this holds true for my beliefs on most issues. welfare? its a complete joke, both financially and socially. we have wasted BILLIONS of dollars on it since its inception. and it has done nothing but held the majority of those people down, especialy inner city black americans. and i work in that industry and see it everyday. its one of the biggest frauds in this country. but heres my point: the government should be small. survival of the fittest (to a degree). we need to lessen government handouts, and strengthen our MORALS again. we have become a country of whiners and people who “expect” everything. less government is the basis of all of this.

Interesting the the Amish successfully petitioned congress years ago to be exempt from the SS system which includes medicare. Speaks volumes on where we have gone as a nation. Could the Amish be the last of the American Breed. VERY POSSIBLE. This relates in a way to Obama’s “Hope and Change” campaign. Obama’s Hope and Change originates from fed gov downward to the individual via gov programs. Most of we conservatives understand that TRUE Hope and Change can only can come from within an individual’s desire to accomplish same. Moral values, religious beliefs, good parenting are but a few causes for inspiring success. Those values were major factors in making this nation great. Government entitlement programs can help economically for the short term, but the damage those programs do in the long run are detrimental to the individual AND to our society as a whole as demonstrated by the failed “Great Society” programs of the sixties. In general government handouts do more harm to the individual than good. That is but ONE major difference between conservatives and liberals. For the record I am a retired parochial schoolteacher – not a fat-cat.

In Nevada, the two candidates created a dead heat between McCain and Obama. Each candidate got 41 percent support with Barr at 5 percent and Nader at 6 percent.
In New Mexico, Nader was supported by 8 percent of those polled with Barr getting no support. Obama still had a lead of 50 percent to 36 percent.

FYI——-Watchdog groups insist Farber’s presence is a contradiction of Obama’s stated position.
“We will not take another dime from Washington lobbyists,” Obama said in a speech June 5, repeating a theme he has main a key to his campaign. “They will not fund my party.”
“So Barack Obama, who says that he doesn’t want to have any lobbyist money in his campaign, is having a lobbyist bundle money from large corporations, many of which are clients, for the convention that’s going to nominate Obama,” said Steve Weisman of the Campaign Finance Institute, affiliated with George Washington

Yes, the GOP doesn’t have Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi playing the convention. Conservatives like John McCain prefer to balance the budget and keep government small and efficient rather than confusing entertainment, showmanship, and infatuation with the executive branch of the United States. But, if you have no experience or real accomplishments, I suppose fireworks, Greek temples, concerts, and rising up out of the floor are a satisfactory distraction.

Senator Obama seems to have the opinion that Big Brother should take care of all those foolish people who are so irresponsible. By this, I mean those who drop out of school, using drugs, doing crimes, having babies at 16, getting HIV from stupid behavior, etc. The number l thing people need to be educated on is BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN LIFE AND THOSE IN YOUR FAMILIES. Obama’s socialist policies deny making people responsible.
A young healthy person should not be given a free place to live, food for the table, free health care, etc. Too many of them blame everyone except their own selfishness and lazyness for their problems. That is why so many people want Obama and his socialist programs–so they do not need to be responsible. The Trinity Church also blamed those rich white people for Black folks failures. Some bloggers are looking forward to getting part of the free trillions for slave reparation that Obama proposes.

Why all of the grandstanding and BS? If Obama is the one who is going to turn this country around and save us from the mess it is in, then why can’t he act like an adult? It should be the highest honor in the world to be POTUS, and yet Obama is running it like a Vegas floor show. Why does he need to rise up out of the floor like some teenage pop star? Show some dignity, be introduced and then for once, come out with some decorum and tell us what you intend to do for this country instead of all the CHANGE and HOPE and all of the other catch words he uses to keep from actually detailing a plan. All this crap does is give the Repubs something to make fun of for the next two months, and the bad thing about it is, they are right. This entrance and stage props are ridiculous.

If Senator Obama believes that 100% health care costs, education through college is a absolute right, how soon will it be before all families should live in a above average home paid by tax money. Those who think this should read our Constitution and Bill of Rights and educate themselves. The founders of our country believed in personnal responsibility.

The Greek columned stage, I would think, goes with a theme and speaking agenda. So in that context, it’s not as ostentatious as it may seem.
Posted by: kat | August 28, 2008, 1:07 am 1:07 am
You’re right, John McCain doesn’t need a stage set like The Temple of Obama, and he doesn’t need a sea of enthralled Germans. He’ll win with his American townhalls and his visits to groceries stores. You’ll see.

Senator Obama’s need for attention, admiration and elaborate speaking platforms make me wonder if he has a mental or personality disorder. Why can’t he just get up and make a speech like a statesman would do. He is not a rock star but certainly acts like a stupid clown in the center ring of a circus. It shows his inmaturity and lack of judgment.
Posted by: Martin | August 28, 2008, 1:09 am 1:09 am
Bush had greek columns at his 2004 acceptance speech. McCain has a head shot photo of himself in front of columns. Lots of columns in Washington. This is a stupid story.
Why don’t the Republicans talk about how they’ll turn this economy around, save the middle class, restore our international credibility, get us off of oil, provide equal pay for equal work, bring our troops home, finish the fight in Afghanistan…
Fear and smear will not keep people in their homes, create jobs, increase wages, lower gas prices. What do they really have to offer?
Posted by: cincyr | August 28, 2008, 1:22 am 1:22 am
Probably the best explanation is that the columns are a facsimile of the Lincoln Memorial where King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech, which will tie into Obama’s. The Republicans and some pundits will have crow to eat if that’s the case.
Posted by: kat | August 28, 2008, 2:40 am 2:40 am
kat:
!!! that would be even worse if he were to presume that his speech would have the same power and significance as King’s BEFORE he gave it! Wouldn’t it?
Posted by: Wade | August 28, 2008, 2:58 am 2:58 am
The columns at the RNC in 2004 are quite different. They were video projections, not a solid “Spartacus” set. The tangibility of the Obamalumns (joke, joke!) make them seem more…artificial?
Also, Bush was already president, so the White House motif may have been more appropriate? Maybe not.
In any event, they don’t look as cheesy…sorry folks, the Obamalumns are cheesy.

I have heard that after his speech, Obama will lift himself to the heavens with the other gods.
If ego alone could do it, Obama would be in orbit.

Obama is just your usual, every day Greek god.

Anybody read the new book, The case against Obama”?
Good reading! Also, how about those Ayers commercials???

Like the mix of responses here. Leadership requires qualities, some of which can’t be learned–the ability to inspire, the ability to bring the best out of one’s rivals and find that useful; the ability to stay calm; the ability to listen to those with whom one is in disagreement. The Mc Cain camp is clearly envious of Senator Obama’s ability to inspire large numbers, to bring those numbers into the electorate. They want disaffection; they want disengagement; they want the masses of Americans who have been given the shaft by Republican policies of a sawbuck of a taxbreak for most and Fort Knox for the wealthy, corporate welfare, and bomb, bomb, bomb to keep their nose out of politics. The look down their noses at investing in the health of their fellow citizens; global warming is a hoax; the war in Iraq was something related to 9/11. They think George Bush’s policies were fundamentally a success.
Good luck with that. Barack Obama is more ready to lead Americans on day one than John McCain with all his so called experience ever will

With all the problems facing our country, the McCain camp focuses on the Roman/Greek architecture of the set? McCain is still fighting the VietNam conflict and suffers from an Oedipal complex as does Bush, but with this he’s showing senility.

I think if anyone has an oversize ego it’s McCain. And he has a terrible temper to match. It is interesting speculation to wonder where he would be today if he had just been a veteran and not a POW also. I don’t buy his vast foreign policy experience — if that was the criteria for election than it would have been Bill Richardson in a landslide who had both official diplomatic posts and key unofficial negotiations that resulted in hostage releases. I also seem to recall that Greece is where the whole idea of Democracy started, although it was limited to a free population in City states where slavery was widespread. I would also agree that many of our government buildings and monuments (Jefferson and Lincoln) use this style of architecture as well and it echoes the 1960 JFK appearance at the LA Colosseum which also has classical architecture. Once again the Republicans who have nothing to offer but fear and smear are making something out of nothing on the other side.

OK Let’s talk substance. The GDP is actually up over 3% for the second quarter. Where’s the recession? Ooh, I saw a homeless man today. Ooh, I heard someone saying we MIGHT lose our health insurance. Ooh, I had a bad time with cancer treatment. The census reported yesterday the number of unemployed people DROPPED by over a million people OVER THE LAST YEAR!
I believe we can agree we do have economic problems caused by high gas prices and the conversion of corn to ethanol is driving up food costs. JM’s plan, increase oil production, invest in alternatives for the future, develop nuclear and clean coal production to lower the price of gas, improve our trade balance and provide jobs here in the US. JM is also calling for the reduction/elimination of ethanol subsidies.
BHO calls for inflating tires, buying cars that don’t exist and can’t with today’s technology, continuing with high gas prices and keeping the farm subsidies that are hurting us.
The Dem response to our economic issues? “What if the hurricane turns into a cat 5 and hits New Orleans? Wouldn’t that be great!”

One thing the Dems do well is throw a great party. They stay in the most expensive rooms at the Ritz, eat the most expensive food, have the biggest screen monitors in the world, fly in on their jets, give record amounts of money to their cause and spend their time saying how terrible the country is and how poor the people are.
Meanwhile their leader made over $4M last year and the best descriptions of the houses of their leaders are not houses or condos but sprawling compounds.

I am a Singaporean and I am following the United States Election Campaign everyday. I think history is going to be made this time and Barrack Obama will be the next president of U.S.A. One thing puzzles me – why do so many people have a problem with the color of his skin? I thought his mother is a white women, an American? So, logically, he actually represents both the white and the blacks in America. You should be happy….

If Biden has been a carreer politician in the Senate over the last 30 years and he he didn’t marry a woman with a lot of money, how could a person end up with a sprawling compound in Deleware on a government salary?
Posted by: Dave in lv | August 28, 2008, 11:24 am 11:24 am
Frankie, most people don’t have any problem with his skin color or whatever his race is. One of our most cherished leaders stated “I dream of a day when a man is judged not by the color of his skin but by the strength of his character.”
By far and away, most people who object to BHO is due to his lack of experience, his poor judgement in not backing the surge, his stubbornness in not admitting it has been successful, his unwillingness to meet the press and answer questions without a teleprompter telling him what to say, and his policies that he would like to implement should he become president.
The color of his skin is not a material concern except for those who want to see him become the first black president only because he is black.

It’s a TEMPLE OF DOOM, is what it is.
This is what happens when a campaign gets into BUBBLE mode, and overeager advisors sell stupid ideas to an insulated, INSECURE, and not-too-savvy, candidate.
This temple idea was STUPID.
Why is Obama continually pandering to the “Nose in Air” Whole Foods and Starbucks wing of the Democratic Party? Does he feel so sure of the AA vote that he thinks he can throw the poor white blue collar contingent under the bus with Grandma and Rev. Wright?
Someone should teach the man that there is elegance in simple settings. There’s DIGNITY, too, when you don’t need silly visuals to prop up a real message–if you have one.
Fake, plywood columns straight out of the Christopher Lowell school of decorating aren’t going to impress “regular” or “real” people. The latte and arugula wings of the party may be loving it, but Joe Sixpack thinks the candidate has gone overboard, and is INAUTHENTIC.
And he HAS. And he IS.

All this making fun of Obama for having his speech at a big venue is hilarious.
Why wouldn’t we want a president who people actually want to come out and listen to instead of someone they won’t even to bother to watch on TV during prime time?
Posted by: Swirl | August 28, 2008, 11:44 am 11:44 am
If the Democrats honestly believe that the edifice they have raised in Mile High Stadium is the best way to convey a message to the people tuning in tonight, they don’t or won’t understand why millions of Americans are not supporting him. Clue: it has nothing to do with “funny names” or exotic background.

“listen, im done with the war subject… lol im so sick of talking about what bush’s intentions were. frankly, at this point i dont care.”
You fear government takeover of health care yet don’t care about government lying its way into war that has left thousands of American men and women dead.
Thanks Republicans for putting yourselves on display for all to see.

Obama – I hope you are elected so I can quit my job and live off the government. I don’t like getting up in the morning, but until now I had to so that I could eat and have healthcare. If you are elected, I will no longer have those problems – so I’m pulling for you.

They have to try and poke fun at his ability to attract 80K people because what else do they have? McCain would be lucky to draw 5000 or less. They would have to pay people to fill the bleachers at a local HS for him.

Swirl,
Isn’t your “man of the people” the one who measures inflation by what the price of arugula is and states he doesn’t think high gas prices are a problem?

History will laugh at those of you who actually try to discredit Obama by claiming that he is the anti-christ. I laugh every time someone actually argues this point. The fact that these people are foolishly and selectively mixing scripture from Revelations and Nostradamus prophecies makes me laugh every time. The very argument goes against the tenets of Christianity.
For those that take issue to the columns, do a little searching and you’ll find that almost every presidential candidate, senator or congressman has had their picture made or been filmed in front of, you guessed it, greco-roman columns. Possibly because they are pert of the architecture in D.C.
Come back to the discussion when you can argue a point that the GOP or Fox hasn’t spoon fed to you.

It also worth noting that the difference between Obama and McCain when it comes to public appearances is that Obama can DRAW crowds of thousands, while McCain merely inserts himself into any place where more than a few people have loitered.
The lame complaints of the anti-Obama crowd smack of candidate envy.

Obama sicks JUSTICE DEPARTMENT on legal makers of legitimate truthful campaign ad. This is abuse of his position as a Senator and presidential candidate. This is the tactics of Stalin and China, right here in the good ‘ol USA.
There was nothing factually incorrect with the ad, so his campaign is using intimidation tactics. Goodbye Free Speech, Goodbye Freedom if he’s elected!

Sidekick McCain “don’t know nothing ’bout the economy” and has new ideas or plans to stimulate it. So he tries to distract with his Karl Rove strategies. BTW freedom of speech was sent packing by the current administration. No third term and no McCain.
