Obama Distances Self From Campaign Spox Attack on Palin

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was just now asked about the conflicting statements from his campaign on Sen. John McCain’s, R-Ariz., pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate — first, an attack by a spokesman, then a congratulatory statement by Obama and running mate Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del.

"I think that, you know, campaigns start getting these hair triggers," Obama said at Pennsylvania Biodiesel Inc. in Monaca, Pa. "The statement that Joe and I put out reflects our sentiments."

The VP pick provides a glimpse into a candidates’ decision-making abilities and judgment. McCain has demonstrated his marginal abilities in these areas with his VP choice.
This woman would be a heart-beat away from the Presidency. He has mocked the process, and proved he cares more about getting himself elected than making sure this country would have a competent leader should something happen to him.
His new name should be McLame.

What about Obama’s decision-making abilities and judgement? He has less experience than Palin, yet he’s running for President!

This is what Obama always does: let his people attack and then he would demounce to make him look nice. He has done that many times to Hillary during the democratic primary.

John McCain said of Rudy Guilian’s exprience of running New York City (population 8 million +)
“”I think the nation respects the mayor’s leadership after 9/11, and I do, too, and I think he displayed leadership at a time that Americans needed some steady hand, and I think that his conduct was very laudatory following 9/11,” Mr. McCain said, when asked why so many voters identify Mr. Giuliani with the issue of terrorism.
But he went on to say: “I don’t think it translates, necessarily, into foreign policy or national security expertise. I know of nothing in his background that indicates that he has any experience in it, with him or Romney.”

“Attack then denounce”
Kind of like McCain’s attack ad a day followed by an insincere congratulations.
Republicans will own their failures and McCain just made another one with his pick of Palin.

I am just perplexed at this talk of Palin being a “heartbeat” away from the Presidency, and you don’t talk about all about the tremendous fears of the ridiculously inexperienced Obama being in the President chair!
Stop talking about Palin, as the primary question is STILL “Is Obama ready to be President”?
And the answer is STIll a resounding NO.

Obama drones making the heartbeat away comment is so funny. Obama WOULD BE IN the president’s chair from the start! Judgement? Change the playbook, republicans.
As ‘W’s presidency showed us all, it does matter who is in office.
You can’t just put an (R) next to a candidate and think prosperity is just around the corner.
As a recovering republican who believed the conservative line back in the Reagan era only to see the largest government spending from the last three republican administrations, they need to stop selling snake oil.
It’s clear they are having a hard time finding spokespeople.

How can Dems possibly make an experience argument against Palin (candidate for the understudy position) when their candidate for the top job has no executive experience whatsoever (not even in the private sector) and has no legislative accomplishments to his name? So he sat in a state senate for a few years (and won that election by having all other candidates disqualified on procedural grounds) then got into the US Senate because both his primary and general opponents withdrew when their supposedly sealed divorce records were leaked (and good riddance to those turds). This is the first big election where Obama has actually had to run against opposition.

As for Obama’s hilarious first response – “She inexperienced, and she’s from MooseJaw, Alaska!” – and his second – “Oops! We desperately need women voters! Congrats, Governor!” – why is this any surprise?
Isn’t exactly the same way he announces his policy positions? The pro-infanticide candidate who ‘wants to reduce abortions’; the pacifist-pansy candidate who ‘will chase Osama Bin Laden into Pakistan!’; the tax and spend liberal who claims he will ‘bring us fiscal discipline’; the Ayers puppet who is ‘just as patriotic’ as the Republicans and will take war to ‘the real terrorists’.

The real issue here is that on a day that Obama should be basking in the afterglow of his speech from the Acropolis, McCain managed to suck all the oxygen out of the room. Obama’s speech was already fairly forgettable and with this announcement, it is a footnote.

I am a Hillary supporter and my heart broke when Hillary did not get the nomination. I must tell you that when I watched the announcement today that McCain had picked Sara Palin as his running mate tears came to my eyes. Tears I did not expect since I do not share all of Sara Palin’s beliefs on pro choice etc. If Senator Obama wants to lose more women votes he will do it by attacking Sara Palin in the same way he and his spokes people attacked Hillary. The same goes for the media.
I am on the side lines now and I never expected to vote for a Republican. However, in the first time in my life I will vote for the Republican ticket if Obama keeps his dirty politics going.

She has a bs degree in journalism, and was elected governor less than 2 yrs ago, but she has experience? At what exactly? Other than experience at having children, what else does she have experience doing???
Where is her birth certificate? Alaska? She can’t be a US citizen then, right?!
Will she be degraded and belittled like Senator Obama? lol Of course not.

Palin is a two year Governor. Obama is for all purposes a one year US Senator (he spent the rest of it campaigning).
As the Obama camp has pointed out past-Governors who became Presidents (Carter,
Reagan, Clinton and George W) came in with no foreign policy experience either. The Obama camp cites community organizing and Obama’s being bi-racial is credentials or things about him that would make him strong on foreign policy.
And they mock the City Council and Mayor’s position? But Obama is different because he has 300 foreign policy advisors (Palin I’m sure could find a couple hundred of her own) and his primary credential for foreign policy that we hear over and over and over is his judgement. His judgement compensates for a slim foreign policy resume? Last I heard also is that women can also display judgement and I’m sure Palin has in her time as Governor. I may think Palin’s resume is too slim for VP but I think any attacks on her slim resume will remind us (and if we forget the GOP will be sure to remind us) that Obama, the person at the top of the Democratic ticket, doesn’t fare much better. I have to give it to Rove.

While Palin is new to the national scene and lacks foreign policy experience, perhaps you Dems should read all that she has accomplished in Alaska, however pitiful little state Obamatons may think of Alaska. Palin has fought against her own party to reform the political good ol’ boy network in Alaska. She even fought big oil that dominates the Alaskan economy. While her accomplishments on a national level may pale in comparison to McCain and Biden, her accomplishments as a governor and mayor far outweigh any accomplishments Obama has ever done in his life, other than giving great speeches with the aid of a teleprompter. Obama has not made a single executive decision in his ENTIRE LIFE that affected thousands of people. And he wants to be the president.

Posted by: Bo | August 29, 2008, 5:31 pm 5:31 pm

But Sarah Palin has a bs in journalism, and she’s ready to be President? Interesting how some of you think.

Those women who supported Hillary didn’t want just any woman they wanted Hillary on the ticket. Having seen though the blatant sexism that was generated from her presence in the primaries I can guarantee you that many women will be watching to see how Palin is treated, regardless of her opposing positions and what support she does end up getting will be strong support.

I think you don’t understand the pent up frustration of many freedom loving, non-gov solution seeking, taking personal responsibility and not wanting to see ANOTHER DC insider… etc etc… that represent so many people in the US.
There is no flop sweat. There is only joy at someone who is young, can carry the views of many who want Washington to change, and has a history of doing so.
I find I agree with much of what is written here over, less so in the past few months, but frankly you are so off base with this… this love affair you have with OB! You forget there are many of us who find his views both disgusting and terrifying at the same time.
With Palin there is a renewed hope that someone can change the socialist-leaning-big-government-excessive-spending that is currently the norm for both the GOP and Dems in Washington. If not now, perhaps in a few short years when she runs for president.
A masterful move.

Why are DEMS comparing Palin’s experience with BHO(Bone Headed Obama)? is BHO standing for VP?
On the other note Palin beats BHO in experience anyway.
Community Organizer working with terrorist/anti-American Friends, later voting ‘present’ for 8 years in state senate, later campaigning for 18 months out of 24 months BHO is a senator in Washington.
Now let us see Palin’s experience. 10 years executive experience as mayor of a city taking decisions daily. 2 years of executive experience as Governer of a state and getting things done everyday.
No comparsion. That is why BHO doe snot have GUTS to stand by his campaing’s mis-statement.

FYI…
A child with Down’s Syndrome is not “sick.”
“Special Needs Child” or maybe “Developmentally Challenged,” but to use the word “sick” is totally incorrect.
You make it sound like the child is suffering from an incurable disease and that she would be abandoning his hospital bedside to run for office.

Erika, its worse than that, she didn’t just fire the trooper, she had to Bork him because the very popular Public Safety director in fact refused to fire him. So she brought in a new guy (like Nixon brought Bork in) and fired the trooper director. The new guy apparently had been previously reassigned because of sex harassment charges, and so he had to fire HIM too. Its just one big comedy skit up there. He should have asked Michael Palin instead.

One does have to wonder about a mother with an infant with downs syndrome who would prefer to be out on the campaign trail, all day, every day, preparing for debates, meeting and greeting, traveling to how many cities every day. Certainly there are many women with infants and children with disabilites who have to work everyday, but running for VP is beyond the normal job – of course, Palin doesn’t know that, since she doesn’t know what a VP does.

DEMs nominated a community organizer who voted ‘present’ in state senate and made friends with terrorists/anti-americans, spent 18 months out of his 24 months in senate – campaigning (rather than working) and they are complaining that GOP nominated a 2 year Governer with many notable accomplishments and with prior 10 year experience as a mayor of a city.
There is no comparison. BHO’s experience can not even beat the GOP’s VP’s experience.
On one hand Obama direspected women by not slecting Hiallry who had 18 million votes against 25K votes of Biden. McCain showed respect to women with this pick.

Hillary wouldn’t give them Mom. Palin will.

“DEMs nominated a community organizer who voted ‘present’ in state senate”
He voted present 130 times out of 4000 votes over the course of 8 years.
“spent 18 months out of his 24 months in senate – campaigning (rather than working)”
Obama missed only 11 votes during his 1st two years in the Senate. During the current 2 years session of Congress he has missed more votes about 45% of them.
McCain missed 56 votes last session of Congress and has missed some 63% of the votes during the current Congress session.

He decided to invest a hundred million dollars in opening over 300 field offices and employing well over a thousand people over the course of this 18 month campaign. He’s been running the quarter-billion dollar corporation that is his election campaign for just about the same length of time Palin has been governor of Alaska.

Palin actually seems like a great person. I was involved with Feminists for Life when I was in college. And I think it says loads about her character that she is a good mother with the courage to raise a child with a disability.
But I just don’t think she would be a good Vice President, or, heaven forbid, a President.
As someone who was once a single-issue, pro-life voter, she’s great on that issue. But besides that, what is there?
More wars. More tax cuts for rich people. Nothing for education. No health care plan (except to tax me for my benefits.) No environmental plan. No plan for diplomacy except some bluster and bombing. No plan for the economy.
I just can’t see why someone would ever vote to dismantle America. If you don’t have a government, who will protect the unborn? Who will protect those who are already born? It just doesn’t make sense.

McCain helped his campaign by picking another maverick and female who can stand up to anyone. A new inspiring pick the republicans need. She has 80 percent approval in Alaska.
Obama is a smart inspiring speaker, but Palin’s actions speak louder than political words. She has fought corruption in both parties in Alaska. When she speaks she says it like it is, unlike polished career politicians. Some people can talk the talk, but Palin can walk the walk.
Palin taxed the oil drillers in Alaska the gave each resident $1,200.
Now the race is exciting! History will be made period with either Obama or McCain!

I agree with you that CEO’s will get their bonuses. Unfortunately, not Obama, not McCain, and not even JFK would be able to change that. That’s the product of a free market. As long as shareholders of companies think that a particular CEO is worth “millions”, then they will always get paid. As far as bailing out big businesses, both Republicans AND Democrats have done this. For example, financial institutions such as Freddie Mac made thousands of high risk loans because there was a movement that lending institutions weren’t lending enough to people who weren’t making much money. Now Freddie Mac is in trouble, and politicians from both sides of the aisle (including Obama) want to bail them out. However, bailing big business out doesn’t happen that often. Dems say that Reps are giving tax breaks to big corporations and making the middle class suffer. That’s not true. Reps are giving tax breaks to everyone, rich and poor. Big companies and little companies. Yes, a government can tax big companies more. And they are already taxed more. BUT, the more you tax them, the more they move their operations overseas. Plus big companies are great in passing taxes down to consumers. I don’t think the government should be penalizing people who made it to the top. The government should help to create more opportunities for more people to get to the top, whether via education or incentives for companies to keep jobs in America, instead of shipping them overseas. Penalizing companies is not going to do it. Best of luck with your house situation.

Obama has said for 1.5 years that Washington is broken. So what does he do? He chooses a 30 year DC insider.
McCain has said for 1.5 years (or more) that Washington is broken. SO what does he do? He chooses an outsider, reformer, and someone who took on the big guys in Alaska.

does anyone think for one minute that mccain is concerned about us and our country–winning is all that matters doing this he thinks all the hillary people will run to him—-and if the old geser kicks off just think what would be running our country—it is scary but perhaps it has something to do with exxon john as there is oil in alaska–and palins husband works for bp.if you think bush has ruined our country i cannot imagine how bad mccain would be –no good judgement at all.

Palin has more executive experience than Obama. She has at least run a state.
Obama is one of 99 other voices, has never run a state or a budget or a business, and has been running for the presidency longer than he’s sat in the Senate and listened to the speeches and voted.

It cracked me up listening to the feminists on CNN today. They pretended to worry that Palin wouldn’t have time to be VP and take care of her baby.
Aren’t the feminists the ones who for years have been telling women they can have it all — work, family, etc.?
Maybe they meant only Democratic women could have it all. LOL

Belle Starr – did you hear the interview with Obama when asked about his harsh assessment of Sarah Palin this morning?

Its still about the issues!
Republicans must have been inspired by McCain’s decision. Rove is already promoting Governor Palin of Alaska to the media. A lot of us Democrats thought of Geraldine Ferro who was the Democratic Nominee for the Vice President with Democratic Presidential candidate Walter Mondale back in 1984. Geraldine Ferro is the complete opposite of Governor Palin of Alaska on the issues. Geraldine Ferro was a pioneer that made it possible for Hillary to run this year and almost win. Hillary Clinton on the issues is the complete opposite of Governor Palin of Alaska. In the media the Republican strategists are trying to paint Joe Biden as what in contrast with Sarah Palin? They should know better. His mom also taught him about honor and decency which is lacking in the relentless Republican attack ads.
Sarah has enough on her plate already. Mitt and Rudy tripped over McCain’s 7 houses. I’m sure that Sarah will find a answer to McCain’s Seven Houses? Of course he already helped her by stating that he only lived in Four. Recently McCain stated that the economy was fine. I just went to the store and cooking oil double in price. The issues are so much more with clear contrasts between the Democrat and the Republican party.
With Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska McCain has run to the right. Classic Rove trademark that won him two Bush terms. We respect Gov. Sarah Palin. Congratulations to John for picking her. Us Democrats love and support our kid from Scranton, Pennsylvania. It will be a civil debate between them. This race is still about the issues.
McCain has supported Bush over 90 percent of the time. This election cycle Writer Steve Benen has already documented 75 flip – flops by McCain running for President. Jukebox John keeps changing his tune by Steve Benden
The issues are what the voters care about. The Democrats will show the contrast between both Parties and the Candidates Obama and McCain.
The real debate will be between Obama and McCain.

Of course McCain doesn’t care… why do you think he made his pick so recklessly?
He wanted someone young and female to try to impress the kids. He thinks we’ll all run out and vote for anything with XX Chromosomes.
The GOP know they can’t win unless they find some gimmick. They just don’t have the number of registered voters to carry the White House.
So they try Operation Chaos… they pray that God will send a tornado to destroy Mile High Stadium… some tweekers take a road trip to Denver and get nabbed by the cops… They hope for riots… They run smear ads… They deal in rumors…
The first thing Karl Rove said when he heard a hurricane might hit us again was: “This could be bad for our convention.” He didn’t say, “I hope that our citizens are safe.” He went straight to political calculation. That’s how the GOP thinks right now. It’s sad and disgusting and it explains why we STILL haven’t rebuilt New Orleans… but why we are dumping 10 billion a month into Private Contractors in Iraq…. Because it’s nothing but a golden opportunity to them. We are not real people to the GOP.
They need some kind of magic trick to get people to forget all their problems and vote against their interests.
But most people aren’t going to vote against their own interests. They are going to vote for Obama/Biden… and I bet it’ll be about as good as Clinton/Gore… which ain’t great, but it’s a heapin helpin of better compared to what we have now.

Just found out that according to the McCain campaign, he met Palin exactly once before he decided to make her the nominee. Their 2nd meeting was today.
So John McCain selected a possible leader of the free world based on a single meeting.
John McCain does not have the judgment to lead this country.
John McCain was wrong on going into Iraq.
He was wrong about setting a time table to get out of Iraq.
He was wrong about Afghanistan.
He continues to be wrong about Afghanistan.
John McCain is wrong about tax cuts favoring corporations and the rich
He is wrong about health care depending upon insurance companies.
And he is wrong selecting a minimally experienced extreme conservative he has met once to be a heartbeat away from leader of the free world.
John McCain….just plain wrong.

How’s this for Obama’s “superior” judgment:
Obama has whined for months that McCain lacks the judgment to be president because he voted for the Iraq war.
So what does Obama do but choose Biden for his VP who voted the exact same way as McCain.
Sure, that makes sense. To a crackhead.

Posted by: Peach | August 29, 2008, 6:59 pm 6:59 pm

Obama’s classless attack on Sarah Palin this morning was an attack on people who live in small towns and on women.
So much for Obama’s supposedly superior judgment. Good luck winning an election without the small town vote and without the women’s vote.

d0 – that’s a good point. McCain spent money to congratulate Obama on his achievement and mentioned it was timely that it happened on MLK day.
Obama in return attacked Palin while demeaning small towns and women.
It’s same to say that Obama has no class whatsoever.

Posted by: Peach | August 29, 2008, 7:03 pm 7:03 pm

rodney – you aren’t really talking about a lack of experience for the VP pick are you? Not while your own candidate has ZERO experience.
He’s never run a business, a state or a budget. He is one of 99 other votes and voices in the Senate.
This is a contest between the Hero and the Zero.

Posted by: Peach | August 29, 2008, 7:05 pm 7:05 pm

Obama doesn’t have a deep record to run on besides a couple terms in state senate and a term as a senator.
But Obama has been under the microscope for a long time after running against one of the best and toughest candidates in the entire politcal landscape: Hillary Clinton. He has met with world leaders and run a great campaign. And, in many, many cases, he has demonstrated a stronger grasp of foreign policy than McCain… who only knows how to bluster. And to make us double sure, he picked a seasoned candidate as his running mate.
McCain, he’s a known quantity. Moreson than Obama, but what we know about McCain isn’t all that great. He’s got a short temper and an arrogant attitude. He has developed into a hard right ideologue on foreign and domestic issues.
Now… maybe Palin can prove she has the chops to compete on the national and world stage. Maybe she can even add some balance to McCain’s whackier positions…. But from what I have seen, I have serious doubts. She seems to be pretty much a conservative ideologue, with little experience beyond shooting a moose and getting her sister’s ex-boyfriend fired.
So… it is natural that we would want to ask if there is something to her. She hasn’t been vetted… and if you want us to vote for your people at a time when the country is at war and our economy is in the tank…. You have to let us ask those questions.
“Hey, she’s a girl,” isn’t enough of a reason to cast a ballot for someone.
Now, clearly, the McCain folks here are too ideological to do anything other than vote for Republicans… but if you want Indys and Dems to vote for your candidates… you cannot get all offended when we ask: Who in the world is Sarah Palin and why should she be in line for the Presidency.
It’s a responsible question. A patriotic question. One that shouldn’t be left to chance.

“It’s worthy of repeating; McCain congratulated Zerobameus on his nomination, but in return, this is what McCain got on choosing his running mate:”
Its also worth repeating that during that insincere congratulations ad (which followed a week of negative ads) McCain said he would wait till tomorrow to renew the fight.
His campaign hit Obama right after his speech.
GOP hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I can understand that Democrats didn’t know much about Palin. But conservatives have been watching her for a while now.
Most conservatives never heard of Obama 2 years ago either, but he’s been a darling in the Democrat party for a while, at least since his 2004 speech at the DNC convention.

Palin is to the right of McSame, Bush and Chaney on many issues. And she shoots Bullwinkle!!!
Hey, I’ll tolerate Palin as the VP candidate because it will contribute to a huge loss by McSame. Quayle, Spiro Agnew both are good precedents for Palin. And she follows well in the footsteps of Geraldine Ferraro, ill-equipped to serve and likely not the best campaigner. you have to give mccain credit—he is good at using women to get what he wants—-ask his wife or both of them–and just when i thought women were smart—what a letdown

Eric C: “No JHW539, her plan, unvieled in May is an addtional $1200 administered through the fund”
OK, I looked it up. There is no “taxes on oil companies” that pay for it. She is simply giving away $1200 of the permanent fund to every Alaskan (easy to do since there aren’t many, they get all those oil revenues, and they soak the lower 48 – getting $1.87 in federal tax support for every $1 they pay in). Palin’s plan is estimated to cost the state $769 million. As a typical Republican, she offered no offsetting cost cuts or taxes to cover the check she wrote (lucky she started with a free pot of savings to raid since states can’t carry a deficit).

“McCain’s ad on the eve of B O’s EarMarking speech at the stadium honored Martin Luther King and wished Obama well.”
After running negatives ads all week and breaking a decades old gentleman’s agreement between the parties that conventions are a time for the opposition to have the limelight.
And, as he said, ” but tomorrow’s another day”"
And he attacked him about 5 seconds after his speech.
Making the insincerity of the ad clear for all to see.

The Amish don’t get entitlements and don’t want them. They successfully lobbied congress years ago to be exempt from SS. THEY ALSO KNOW, WHAT DAMAGE ENTITLEMENTS CAN DO TO THE INDIVIDUAL SOUL AND TO SOCIETY IN GENERAL. REMEMBER JOHNSON’S “GREAT SOCIETY” IN THE SIXTIES? WHAT A DISASTER THAT WAS! AMISH ARE PROBABLY THE LAST OF THE AMERICAN BREED!!

Obama is a socialist.
Socialism takes from those who do, gives it to those who don’t.
Eventually, those who do, quit.
Then there is nobody to take from to give to those who don’t, because everybody doesn’t.
Then, you turn into Cuba!!!
Great plan that Obama has!!
Sorry, I’ll take McCain-Palin, who realize free markets is what has made this country great!!

Obama is saying he isn’t in control of what his campaign says – well, why wouldn’t people buy it; they swallow the other drivel he shovels at them. I’m so tired of the passive-aggressive Obama. Waaaay too much drama!

When Palin in charge as VP, she may start fighting over senators who corrupt,……like Obama who got money from Rezko.

Palin had more executive experience than Obama

What happen to Obama today? Have not seen him except for his nasty remarks about small towns and dissing the Governor of Alaska.
His sing-song speech in the Temple of Dome last night must have really tired the poor guy out. Or was it knowing that McCain picked a VP candidate with more experience and credibility than he has. I certainly do not want any of his snake oil that cures all ills. How can a Harvard man be so dumb and out of touch with main stream American families? I just wished there was ONE item on his agenda that I felt confident he will be able to bring to pass. Most of his ideas just cost more money–like tax and spend.
Looking forward to seeing the best man in the White House and that will not be the socialist.

Way to go Obama, with your first press release, you dis small town people again in reference to Sarah Palin’s Mayorship, those same bitter people who cling to guns and religion…way to keep losing those voters!
McCAIN/PALIN!

Obama has every right to offer up his opinion about a woman who was selected over highly qualified candidates by McCain. Voters chose Obama after 22 debates over countless months. McCain chose Palin after one meeting.
Also remember that it was Phil Gramm, McCain’s guy, who dissed suffering Americans in general when he called them “a nation of whiners”.

I’m a little lost. The state trooper could not have done anything wrong, because he would have been arrested? So if the trooper was never arrested for wrong doing, then this is just another case of two people getting a divorce. We all know that in a divorce someones lying! So, with that said why would the troopers boss firer him? I would not think the trooper would be fired unless he broke the law? As governor you must have a lot of free time or I guest she must of made time to have him fired? I just can not see why this would be the governor’s job, to fired troopers If she tried their must be something else going on there? Now, in this country we all have rights even people we don’t like so, to say she was right is just not American!! To pick her to be V.P. and she did not know what a V.P. did, when asked is a little scary! I can not see someone who has never been to Washington running the government. Maybe someone that has only been in Washington a short time is a bit better? A person in the senate has more government experience than a governor. A Harvard law professor has more government experience than a mayor!! When you pick someone to be on your ticket as V.P. you should meet with them more than twice!! Picking someone because their a woman is the wrong way to go and sets back the movement years!! As a woman you want a job not because your a woman but, because your the best at that position. This is very, very scary, John gets sick and she’s President of America ( not V.P.) I’m very ALARMED!!! I think McCain should have had more respect for the republican party and pick someone in the race as Obama has. What an insult to the rest of the republicans this is!! I’m sorry I can not vote for you John, this is not right!!!

When I become President “I will learn to control my own campaign.”
When I become President “I will ensure that my campaign no longer has a hair-trigger.”
You have to love this guy, he gives a whole new meaning to the word “dumb.”

“Voters chose Obama after 22 debates over countless months. McCain chose Palin after one meeting.”
Superdelegates choose Obama. Hillary vote the vote total. Regardless you are comparing a VP with a presidential candidate. On that note Biden fails miserably
Biden has quit before voters could reject him -he quit after the Iowa caucus with %1. He quit in 1988 8becuase of a scandal.

Any episode of “Obama-hair-trigger” would have prompted him to call Palin “SWEETIE”.
I am sure he was glad it was his staff that had “hair-trigger” not him …

Think about it, John McCain is 72 years old and has had multiple bouts of cancer, now in remission. So are we really JUST considering Palin for VP? It probably doesn’t matter though because Republicans can’t be too happy about the pick.

Biden knows that Iraq does not border Pakistan. He knows that Putin is not president of Russia. Those are only two examples of John McCain’s ineptness. Lieberman was able to correct him, but now he has been cast aside. Better candidates like Paul, Romney, Pawlenty and Huckabee were overlooked. Wow, the fact that you would try to defend the indefensible.

McCain has put the country at risk — all ads aare needed to point thiks out ,,,
McCain VP and his rash behavior — Country at Risk
More rash dangerous decisions.
McCain only talked with his VP choice last week. He just does not know her. McCain is willing to make a decision that could impact the country on one conversation!!!
And we all know that McCain still has cancer. He looked death in the eye 2 times. One was just after the 2000 presidential race where he tried to be selected by the GOP presidential candidate. Shortly after he had to have an operation of 5 hours. He gets checked once a month. But there is nothing that can be done if the cancer starts to spread quickly. That means that there is a chance that he will die or be very sick when he is President. This puts his VP choice as the new President. She a smart and clever person, but is is not brilliant and grossly ignorant of the world. There are high school students that know more than she does.

Obama promises endless entitlements and endless love throughout the world. He proposes to tax the top earners to pay for all the joy. The top 1% already pay about40% of all taxes in the US. The average earner in the top 1% makes 30 times the national average and pays about 500 times the national average in all taxes. Do they get more Army? More Social Security? More Medicare, Welsfare, Food Stamps?? The top pays more than its fair share. We need government to SPEND LESS.
I’m going out to dinner tonight, ’cause I guess Obama’s gonna pick up the check. Palin cuts spending, fat and corruption– so does McCain. Obama and Biden are more of the same — more taxes, more spending, more dumping on America as mired in some sad past and failing. Right. Check out the lines to get into Russia and China and Cuba. Elitist, smug socialists have taken over the Democratic party. Kidos.

Does anyone here actually support a candidate based on a specific policy or set of policies? It looks to me like everybody is basing their opinions on demographic make-up or who they consider to be more charismatic. Age and likeability do not get the job done.

I am not writing to judge her as a good or bad mother- but, I could not help but notice when she finished the speech in Dayton how her little girl was left to walk alone straggling behind her mom. How could she let her adorable little girl, with her smile be totally ignored and left to stand there alone or follow her mom around the crowded podium? Also from body language of the whole family, I was concerned as I saw no warmth between siblings, this little girl could have her mom hold her hand, her dad, or at least Mom Palin could have kept an eye on where the little girl was on the stage- instead of leaving her to follow around at the knee height of all the adults. McCain did not seem to notice her either. At the least in a warm family I would have expected the older siblings to watch over their little sister or hold her hand.( I know in my family the older kids automatically look out for the little ones) Watch the clip again to see what I mean.
Basking in the limelight with no concern or even any attention to even her young daughter or… her other kids for that matter. I hope she learns to hold her little daughters’ hand and not ignore the child’s needs when on the stage like that ever again… or at the least hire a nanny who will tend to the child’s needs. Children have many needs and especially when they subjected to being in a new environment or the political spotlight. This made me really question all the hubbub of her being a great mom.
Also most of my pro-life adopt children who need home if they want kids after 40 and they practice responsible family planning -rather than have more kids at that age which is unfair risk for the child having genetic problems for their whole lives. It is the child who lives with these issues. Most parents don’t have money to help their kids with all the related physical and medical problems that come with downs syndrome. The Governor has great health insurance- but what about insurance in Alaska for families for kids with disabilities who need medical care that their families can’t afford!
Also, the few friends who did get pregnant after 40 did not even get any genetic testing- why as pro-life did Palin even get genetic testing?
