Obama Gives VP Hints

USA Today’s ‘On Politics’ blog reports: Barack Obama told USA TODAY this afternoon that "yes," he has made up his mind about whom his running mate will be — but he would not reveal the name or just when he will tell the nation about his choice. USA TODAY’s Kathy Kiely writes that:

In an interview in Chester, Va., the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said he’s made up his mind, but he would not say whether he’s informed that person yet. "I won’t comment on anything else until I introduce our running mate to the world," he said. "That’s all you’re going to get out of me."

Obama said it was a difficult decision. "We had some great choices."

Obama said he wanted somebody who is "prepared to be president" and who will be "a partner with me in strengthening this economy for the middle class and working families."

He said he was looking for not just a partner but a sparring partner. "I want somebody who’s independent, somebody who can push against my preconceived notions and challenge me so we have got a robust debate in the White House."

Here’s a very brief audio clip of the exchange Kathy had with Obama about whether he’s made up his mind.

The full story will be available later today.

I am so tired of the way Obama conducts — what is the big deal. Let everybody know and go on with your campaign. Can he just be decisive and be like a leader once?

found this interesting article about obamas tax code
here is an excerpt
The Tax Policy Center, a research group run by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, has done the most detailed analysis of the Obama and McCain tax plans, and it has published a series of fascinating tables. For the bottom 80 percent of the population — those households making $118,000 or less — McCain’s various tax cuts would mean a net savings of about $200 a year on average. Obama’s proposals would bring $900 a year in savings. So for most people, Obama is the tax cutter in this campaign.

I hope Obama selects any one other than Mrs. Clinton.
He may win with Mrs. Clinton on the ticket and I want him to lose. Sen. Clinton can run again in 2012 only if he loses.
Obama, hopefully, with his arrogance in place will select Bayh or Nunn.

Posted by: Roger Miller | August 21, 2008, 4:20 pm 4:20 pm

All told, Obama would not only cut taxes for most people more than McCain would. He would cut them more than Bill Clinton did and more than Hillary Clinton proposed doing. These tax cuts are really the essence of his market-oriented redistributionist philosophy (though he made it clear that he doesn’t like the word “redistributionist”). They are an attempt to address the middle-class squeeze by giving people a chunk of money to spend as they see fit.
He would then pay for the cuts, at least in part, by raising taxes on the affluent to a point where they would eventually be slightly higher than they were under Clinton. For these upper-income families, the Tax Policy Center’s comparisons with McCain are even starker. McCain, by continuing the basic thrust of Bush’s tax policies and adding a few new wrinkles, would cut taxes for the top 0.1 percent of earners — those making an average of $9.1 million — by another $190,000 a year, on top of the Bush reductions. Obama would raise taxes on this top 0.1 percent by an average of $800,000 a year.
It’s hard not to look at that figure and be a little stunned. It would represent a huge tax increase on the wealthy families. But it’s also worth putting the number in some context. The bulk of Obama’s tax increases on the wealthy — about $500,000 of that $800,000 — would simply take away Bush’s tax cuts. The remaining $300,000 wouldn’t nearly reverse their pretax income gains in recent years. Since the mid-1990s, their inflation-adjusted pretax income has roughly doubled.

If it is someone who is ready to be President, then the only person it could be is Hillary Clinton. This may be his only choice if he wants to win the presidency. According to the recent polls its not looking good for Obama and Hillary is the only person that can change that.
Obama/Hillary

The choice will be Hillary Clinton.

Yes, Clinton lost in the primary and lost the presidency. But if Obama wants to gain the 13% of Clinton’s supporters, whom remain undecided, he would be wise to pick her as VP. He’s consistantly dropping in the polls against Mcain. Picking a relative unknown at this point would be the equivalant of throwing in the towel.I know it’s hard for me to understand the support Mcain has, but it’s definately there. Let’s not have a repeat of 8 years ago. Obama/Clinton 08

The bottom line: A higher percentage of American presidents have been assassinated while serving in office (4 of 43 — Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Kennedy) than died while in military service for America during any war. Being a serious contender for president provides a suffiecient indication of an extreme form of patriotism to America. It is an extraordinarily dangerous job. Anyone who doubts the patriotism of a serious contender for president is a fool and embarrassment to our country. Our presidents serve while knowing they have nearly a one in ten chance of giving their lives for their country. No military service compares. No wartime service compares with the sacrifices those who served in the Civi War made. The total military deaths during America’s most devastating war were an astounding 6%. Therefore, a Civil War vet could potentially understand the patriotic sacrifice an American president is prepared to make for their country but certainly a Vietnam veteran could not.

I cant believe all the ignorant comments I read in some of these forums. Since when does having tons of experience in Washington automatically make someone qualified to be President? Open up your history books, people, instead of opening another can of beer and study up. JFK had about as much experience as Obama does. Bush Jr. had zero experience and look where we are now. George Washington had no experience in politics prior to be delegated. And what have you done with your life that you can criticize Obama? At least he is intelligent enough, and man enough, to make something of his life and to want more for us as a country. What do you want? What have you done for us? Do you think Bush Jr. was elected because he was experienced? Him being elected was the biggest transaction since the Louisiana Purchase. People are just afraid of Obama because of the color of his skin. Get over it, grow up and move forward into a new era.

For most families who are truly struggling in the US, an extra 700 dollars won’t make much difference in their lives.
And all those tax credits/deductions/whatever that Obama has planned will not be available to everyone: People without children? People not in college? How about those who don’t have mortgages?
Both McCain’s and Obama’s tax plans are bad for American taxpayers.
Our tax code does not need reform it needs to be tossed into the trash.

Just heard Obama say that his VP will be independent of him, does that mean he’s picking Independent Chuck Hagel of NE?

Givme a break. If Colin Powell can cross the racial line, cannot you be more accommodating?

“The bottom line: A higher percentage of American presidents have been assassinated while serving in office (4 of 43 — Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Kennedy) than died while in military service for America during any war.”
Um…while this is *true*, one should note that if you died during military service, you don’t exactly have a chance at later becoming President.

This just in, EVERYONE is reporting it: CNN, CBS, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, and BBC it is all over their banner. They found him, they found Osama!
He’s No-bama’s running mate. Some are reporting they received it via text some. No-bama said he is so progressive, so graceful, and so sophisticated that if he’d offer Bin (that’s what he calls him) the position they could then talk about the differences between the US and (Bin and No-Bama) and sing campfire songs and roast marshmallows at the French House, previously known as the White House, while they enjoyed each others company.
Michelle No-Bama now says she loves her new country and her new friend Bin. They have plans to trade dresses and dance to the twilight hours every Ramadan!

Posted by: We found him | August 21, 2008, 5:49 pm 5:49 pm

He didn’t say his running mate would be “independent of him” or AN independent. He said the person would be independent. Meaning not Chenneybush. A mind of their own.He has to pick a demacrat or he’s toast for sure.

Posted by: Bea | August 21, 2008, 5:49 pm 5:49 pm

Obermn3…It’s not about race. And crossing party lines has nothing to do with race. And shouldn’t. I want a president who works for me, not because I’m raciallly mixed, but because I believe and support his policies. And it dosen’t matter what color I am. I’m a demacarat and want one for president. And I don’t care what color he or she is. I believe it is possible to cross party lines, but Colin Powell was one who pushed the war and Bush’s agenda. There’s no place for him on Obama’s ticket.

“If he picks hillary, It will just prove once and for all he doesn’t care about the country, and only cares about winning office. Only one reason he would ever pick her. to get the other half of votes he lost to her from the beginning.”
you know what? ive been thinking that EXACT same thing. barack knows just as well as you and me that if he chooses hillary, the election is as good as his. no argument. no fight. the man is power hungry and not fit to be president and he doesnt give a damn about us. neither does McCain for that matter, but at least john mccain is making a stand. rather than taking advantage of hillarys supporters just so he can get into office.
in my mind, a hillary veep would be the least patriotic move ive seen a candidate make. and he will not get my vote if she is who he chose.

how is obama ready to be leader of the free world? what has he done? infact, i URGE you all to think. in his time in office, what has obama accomplished? name one thing.
i know i cant. and ive looked.
and if one of you says:
“oh well hes a black man in the senate” you lose. being black is not an accomplishment.
hillary would be better i agree…but in the form of experience, mccain has it in the bag and we would be fools not to vote for him.

obama’s running mate has been and will be BINLADEN!!!!!

Posted by: geo | August 21, 2008, 8:18 pm 8:18 pm

What a dilemma for Obama!
If he chooses Hillary, he will lose because white males won’t stand a woman in command. She would remind them of their weaknesses – unacceptable.
If he chooses Biden – the whitest guy in the lot, white males will hate him even more for having the audacity to place a white man in a subservient position – anathema. More or less the same goes for Bayh or Kaine.
Obama should stop wasting his time and energy in this silly campaign battling an army of windmills, become an international corporate attorney, and consider moving to Germany, where everybody loves him.

Who would want a president who finished last in his college class like mc cain did to govern over our country. Oh! I know! The same dummies who thought Bush would make a great president!

McCain’s Broken Classics…..
#1 Hit: I told You “The Surge Would Work”
Note: As Though McCain Originated “The Surge” When in Fact “The Surge” is General McFarland’s Military Strategy and it did not happen at Anbar, “The Surge” happened in (Bagdad) The Bloody Anbar Awakening Happened Almost a Year Before “The Surge” and General Petraeus was Not in Iraq, During “The Anbar Awakening” or “The Surge”…
The Anbar Awakening: Is the Crucial Turning Point in the Iraq War and without it, The Surge would still be at Day One and the Casualties Would still be Prevalent. Yet Semi-Senile John McCain has Projected himself as the Creater of “The Surge”, as though, Mccain Concieved, Created and his “Surge Strategy” was Implemented by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the President, based on Mccain’s “Military Experience” when all He did was Sign on a Non-Partisan BandWagon to send an Additional 20,000 Troops….
Thats All McCain Did.
McCain Hit #2: “I know how to Win Wars”
Oh Really John ? Are you Counting Viet Nam as a WIN for America ? You were Locked Up and being Tortured Day & Night, Remember ? John, Name One Military Strategy that you had Concieved, Created and had Implemented by the President & his Joint Chiefs of Staff…
Please and Don’t Mention “The Surge” I just Squashed that LIE
McCain Hit #3: “No Timetable for Withdrawal, Come Home in Victory”
What is a Victory to You John McCain ? The President of Iraq wants us OUT, The President of the USA is setting a “Time Horizon” and its been said, the Time Frame is (2010) Yet, We should Leave in Victory, Not Enough Dead Bodies, for you John ??
—————————————
John McCain Hit #4: “The 4 1/2 Year Military Strategy Failed, Because it was a Poorly Planned & Poorly Executed”
McCain is Condemning Joint Chiefs Of Staff, The President, The Vice President, Himself, The Senators & Congressmen and Women who Voted on all the Military Strategies, leading up, to the “Surge” and Above all else the US Military Performed their Jobs Incompetently, Thats Exactly what he’s saying…
Yet McCain Double Talks and Calls the U.S Military Honorable, Brave and Corageous..McCain has to Open his EYES WIDE and Accept that he was a Major Force in Voting 95% of the Time on the Iraq War and All Bush Military, Foreign and Domestic Policies….Fact

Sources say the international bankers and financiers will install Al Gore as the Prez (bumping Obama out) and billionaire NYC Mayor Bloomberg the VP for either party. Both will continue the agenda to privatize the US government, programs, infrastructure and jobs for big $$$ profits as the economy tanks and currency goes down. Gore has about 100 superdelegates in his back pocket to prevent anyone candidate to get the number needed to be nominated. That is the plan for him to step in and appear above the fray and take advantage of popular discontent, confusion and chaos at the convention…..

It is Rezko.
He pardoned him (since Obama already thinks he is President) and asked him to be his running mate.
They then will build low income housing for all of America.

You know I can’t think of one decent person that would want to be Obama’s VP. No one in their right mind would want to by around the lying marxist….you know the very next time he gets himself in trouble that he will just toss the Vp under the bus with his granny to distract for himself.

Obama said it was a difficult decision. “We had some great choices.”
Obama said he wanted somebody who is “prepared to be president” and who will be “a partner with me in strengthening this economy for the middle class and working families.”
He said he was looking for not just a partner but a sparring partner. “I want somebody who’s independent, somebody who can push against my preconceived notions and challenge me so we have got a robust debate in the White House.”
ALL THE ABOVE, SCREAMS & SHREAKS OF THE NAME…
HILLARY CLINTON !!!!!
