Obama’s Top Strategist Defends Decision Not to Pick Clinton for VP

ABC News’ Mary Bruce reports: Sen. Barack Obama’s, D-Ill., chief strategist, David Axelrod, spoke out this morning against accusations that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., was never vetted for the vice presidency.

"I can tell you, the first person that [Obama] sat down and talked to at all about this vice presidential issue was Sen. Clinton.  They had a discussion back in early June about it, and he spent more time with Sen. Clinton alone, talking about issues, than he has with Joe Biden or anyone else in the last couple of months.  So, that’s simply not true," Axelrod explained in an exclusive interview on "This Week With George Stephanopoulos."

The McCain campaign pounced on the issue Sunday morning, releasing an ad attempting to rile up former Hillary supporters. "She won millions of votes. But isn’t on his ticket. Why? For speaking the truth?" the ad asks amid clips of Clinton targeting Obama during the primary season.

Axelrod went on to explain why Obama opted for Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., instead of the former first lady: "[Obama] has a high regard for Sen. Clinton … She’s going to be an important voice in moving this country forward in the next administration.  But he felt that Sen. Biden would be the best fit for him at this time."

In a separate interview, former Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani questioned Obama’s decision not to pick Clinton. "The strong choice would have been Hillary Clinton.  The obvious choice would have been Hillary Clinton," Giuliani said. "She had 50 percent of the Democratic vote.  Obama has 50 percent of the Democratic vote. You almost have to go to extraordinary lengths to avoid her as the vice presidential pick of the party."

"Sen. Obama has made a choice more out of weakness than strength," Giuliani continued.  "Don’t go with your strongest candidate, and then go with a candidate that actually emphasizes all your weaknesses and has been quite vocal about them."

And while the former mayor of New York welcomed Biden "to this whole effort again," he made clear that he has no intention of joining him on the campaign trail as McCain’s running mate. "I have not been, as far as I can tell, vetted, if they do tell you about that," he said. "I am certain that the candidate — it’s down to three or four candidates.  It is not me."

McCain is right. 18 million votes and she’s not on the ticket– or at least given right of first refusal? That cetainly seems like yet another stupid move. Defeat from the jaws of victory– same old, same old…

It’s the audacity of arrogance. Obama and his insular campaign is so full of themselves at this point, they won’t acknowledge the person they almost lost the nomination to. And, to not even vet them or give them a serious look over? Interesting, no one is saying they vetted her…no one. And, Caroline Kennedy of all people should be ashamed for not doing so, given her own father when making his VP picked even realized he had to pick Johnson, someone he didn’t like, for the sake of the party. And since the announcement? A two point bounce? The left wing of the Democratic party, those who basically caucused for Obama, have managed to pick the weaker candidate and that’s shown in his pick of a more experienced candidate. Give me a break. And, come November, give me McCain.

I am sorry the Republicans didn’t get the Democratic VP they were strategizing against in Hillary Clinton. However, she is still available for McCain to choose as VP…..18 million voters would help him a lot don’t you think? McCain-Clinton 08!

As far as I know, the nominee of either party has a right to choose his or her running mate. Senator Obama is not banned from making such selection as well. I am more than satisfied with Sen. Biden. He is a great democrat who has been figthing for democratic values since long before the Clintons jumped into the national stage. If experience is going to matter in this election, Sen. Biden has a resume that Hillary cannot even dream of. Obama-Biden ’08

This is the time for McCain to offer Hillary the VP spot on his ticket. What is holding him back? Isn’t McCain a Maverick who doesn’t mind going against his party’s will? Isn’t McCain a bipartisan politian? Isn’t McCain a great friend of Hillary? So, I think it is time for McCain to pass from rethoric to action, and offer Hillary the VP nod on his ticket.
Has McCain vetted Hillary?

Congratulation Obama for President!

As a Hillary supporter, I will pull the lever for McCain with glee as I hope for her run in 2012. We’re gonna send smarty pants back to Chicago to live in his Rezko mansion.

What sort of impression do you Hillary Clinton supporters think you’re making? Do you think you’re coming off as thoughtful, and insightful? Or is it more likely you’re coming off as spiteful children incapable of dealing with things as they actually are? Put some thought into it, and think it all the way through.

Posted by: CC | August 24, 2008, 1:09 pm 1:09 pm

I guess you all feel Hillary Clinton is so unknown that she would need a thorough vetting.
The fact is that Hillary said herself that she didn’t want to be vetted unless she was going to be the selection. The non-vetting was to spare her and Bill the trouble of having all Bill’s foundation donors come under scrutiny.
You Hillary people really need to relax. And I’m speaking as a former McCain supporter here, not as a long-time Obama guy.

Posted by: Red | August 24, 2008, 1:18 pm 1:18 pm

Ted Kennedy and his cohorts Kerry and Dashle wanted Obama as the nominee and rigged to superdelegates against Hillary; and Kennedy wanted Biden so Obama, being Kennedy’s yes man, put Biden on the ticket.

I saw an interview with the founder of PUMA.
She says she’s not a republican, but she was a McCain supporter and donated to his campaign in 2000.
But anyway, can we PLEASE stop hearing about Hillary?
She hasn’t said anything negative, and is obviously fine with Obama’s choices.

Posted by: julie | August 24, 2008, 1:38 pm 1:38 pm

What is shocking is that McCain presumes that intelligent women can be so bitter about Clinton’s loss of the primary that they are willing to vote against their own personal interests. Even if they aren’t enthralled with Obama and feel cheated by the bizarre primary process, how can these women support a man who will overturn Roe v. Wade?, a man who has demonstrated his contempt for women through his coarse remarks even to his own wife? a man who promises to send their sons into more illegal wars? a man who has brought in Karl Rove the Cheney/Bush attack dog,, Ralph Reed the corrupt Christian Coalition leader and Phil Gramm of Texas/Enron fame to run his campaign?? Get real, recognize PUMA as a bunch of Rove stooges and move on -only Republicans could stomach a vote for McCain/Bush. It is simply the worst possible formula for the advancement of women’s causes.

Let’s see…a lot of women are upset because their candidate, Hillary, LOST! They don’t like Obama unless he offered the VP slot to that loser. So now they are mad! I think I can see who the REAL sexist minded people are. Get over it…she lost! Obama will also lose because a majority of Americans will not buy his BS! I told you she would lose to Obam months ago. She did! Now I’m telling you Obama will lose and I will be right in a couple months from now! It is nice to be right all the time!

I am a Clinton supporter, but my first choice will not be the candidate. This often happens after the primarys. As a loyal Democrat, I am prepared to support Barak Obama and work for his election. There is no Republican fit to lead this country now. (Well, maybe Colin Powel) After 8 years of this administration, even Daffy Duck could do better. Lets use our heads and put a Democrat in the White House.

Its interesting that the republican are so disappointed that Obama did not pick Clinton as VP, could it be maybe because they would had a field day against her and Obama of all the negativity she carries with her ?

ive heard what he’s going to do: steal from the rich and give to the poor, and get as much government control over the american people as possible… oh lets not forget, possibly swear in 2 or 3 supreme court judges who are extremely liberal. yep. that pretty much sums it up. nothing too serious i guess…

Posted by: tim | August 24, 2008, 1:49 pm 1:49 pm

Please people! No true democrat would vote for McCain! Go ahead and say you will but understand you’ll be voting against all your principles and women…forget about your right (we just will be reduced to what MEN allow us to have). So, you can go along and benefit McCain all you want and perhaps get what you want but you’ll be hating life under a McCain administration. You’ll all have yourselves to blame…oh, and your kids will be drafted into WWIII. Ok, that’s what you’ll get and unfortunately YOU PEOPLE will be the ones who deserve it…NOT ME. Republicans have NEVER FOOLED ME AND WILL NEVER IN THE FUTURE! Too bad you people are not as enlightened. GO BACK TO SCHOOL and learn the RIGHT WAY TO PROCESS INFORMATION!

So yes, we love Hillary BUT WE CAN’T STAND OBAMA AS PREZ. Keep him in the Senate more than 143 day….do your time…..and even in 8 years…he’ll still have Muslim fathers, Wright, Black Lib. theology angry Michelle, Rezko, Ayers, ANTI AMERICAN TIES DUE TO POOR JUDGEMENT.

It is amazing that some people are still living in the past with some old burned out fruitcake like Hillary. She lost her credibility under sniper fire and by defending that pervert Bill for all his perverted weird stuff. That cigar thing still boggles my mind. The funniest thing to me is how some women still think she is so great. Pull your heads out of your rear ends and understand she is history! Vote for Obama or McCain or Nader or daffy duck as one of you said but quit bitchin’ about it. I agree with jds that you all must be hell on earth to be around! When I watched Obama and Biden on stage, I thought “omigod, the wrong man is running for President!” Obama looks so young, callow and inexperienced compared to his own VP. Of course, he would have looked young, callow and inexperienced next to Hillary as VP. Come to think of it, I can’t think of anyone in politics with LESS experience than Obama!

McCain is the anti-Hillary. Nobody who cares at all for her agenda would ever vote for him. While Barack wasn’t first choice for many of us, he’s a good choice: intelligent, progressive, thoughtful, and able to compromise when necessary. Don’t let the Republican media machine spread a false message that Clinton supporters would rather have him than Obama. People who believe as Hillary does know what they have to do, even with a measure of disappointment, support Obama, vote for him, and prevent any more corrupt Republican misrule.

You know, everyone promoting HRC for McCain’s running mate. Did you ever stop to think that HRC would turn him down flat? She’s a Democrat!!! She’s not going to run with him!
That said, boy, Obama and Clinton together would have been a force to be reckoned with. I can believe he didn’t choose her (too much ego, in my own opinion), but I think it was dumb.

see, heres the bad part. and this is why obama, and snakes like him, are dangerous. because he sucked the freakshow left in with his marxist views, and now in order to actually win, he sold out and is acting like he is more owrds the center. so now , you have the mindless democrats THINKING he is just another democrat, and he could possibly win. then when he gets in, all hell can break loose with his marxist views. thats why the mindless vote is so important. thats why the media brainwashing is important. its very scary. and all the right could give us to fight this evil off was john mccain. scary.

d,
No, I’m actually a 38 year old white suburban woman who is married with children. I am also a double degreed professional who understands what McCain stands for. His polcies are outrageously wrong and so are those of Bush. I don’t see much daylight between the two. I can grasp the policies of Obama and I wonder why you fail to understand what he stands for. In fact, ask me a question and I’ll tell you exacly what Obama stands for. And, I will do it in a civil fashion. See, I believe that if people were to understand where Obama stands on issues compared to where McCain stands there would be no doubt that Obama would better serve this nation. Certainly you disagree, but I GET IT with Obama and I’m sure many more people will as time goes on. Ok, just ask me a question…I’ll give you what Obama stands for based on his policy and why I support it.

If you are voting for McCain, fine vote for him. But if you are voting for him thinking that Hillary will be O.k in 2012, think again. Hillary’s chances for the nomination in 2012 are slimmer than in 2008, why? Well, next time she won’t run against a black guy. Next time she will run against a white, southern male with a lot of money from Obamanation. Who that man will be? Most probable former Gov. Mark Warner, the keynote speaker this year at the convention.
Next time Hillary won’t count with the racist vote; however, Warner will count with the “any-body but Hillary vote,” “Obamanation hates Hillary vote,” and the conservative “masogynist” vote, sounds like a lot of votes, right?

Posted by: carl29 | August 24, 2008, 2:22 pm 2:22 pm

The beautiful thing about the USA is the freedom to vote for whomever one pleases. Nobody should lockstep to the polls. The election has been hijacked by the MSM. The main political parties have been taken over by interest groups and political operatives. Forget the party loyalty, vote your choice. Shame on those for attacking those who are not sure about Obama.

Its interesting to hear Rudy Giuliani talking about Clinton; when he was up against her for a short time in New York State, running as Senator, he thought she was the worst person in the world.
Hillary needs to quiet those supporters who are raising hell, becuase she lives in a state– where many of them will not be able to vote for her. when her terms ends . If she expects to continue in politics… she ought to think that she is not a New Yorker… and is getting support from people who she has never done anything for. Time for her supporters to cool out and stop playing into the hands of the opponent.
Rudy is trying to play Hillary for a fool, I will watch to see if he succeeds.

Tim, why do you look at things the way you do…Marxist Views? Why are you scared? Why of Obama? Wow? Look, McCain and his “clan” want to remain in control of this country regardless of the little people. They don’t care about the middle class (or the poor for that matter) and now think they just need “one more turn” to change our supreme court into a right wing decision making crowd. I do see that and that would truly be scary because then there would be no BALANCE left that works for the people of America. See, I’m for balance (right and left) and Republicans are for RIGHT DOMINATION. This, I see as scary not Obama. If you really believe Obama is scary then the Republican tricks have worked on you. I’m not for that on either side. I like to make up my own mind and no AD saying something is going to sway me unless I (myself) believe it after thinking it through logically. I suggest to everyone on this post to think analytically and not emotionally. Once you do that, you’ll be able to make the right choice for America.

Thank you LisaBeth…that’s all Im saying…Why is it that just because I am not lockstep in the name of “unity,” I am all of a sudden a posing republican or some kind of scorned Hillary supporter. I am a moderate democrat. I don’t fall in line with the ultra-left wing of the party. I used to think Obama was an ultra left winger…but that was in the primaries. He has changed his mind so many times since, I don’t know who he really is. And, his choice of VP only confirms that his lack of experience and foreign policy deficit is exactly why I felt comfortable with Clinton.
thanks for injecting the fact that this is a country founded on free thinking and exercise of that thought with respect for differences.

I am thinking that McCain and the Repuiblican party have sold America down the drain. I am thinking that we have been involved in an immoral war in Iraq for the last 5 years. A war against a country who made no move to attack us, a war that was based on a family grudge. I am thinking that the Repuiblican party is an unpatriotic Party, while promoting America, is acctualy trying to privatise our government, making multinational Corporations the true power. I am thinking that they are not patriotic enough to pay their taxes, and are willing to pass the bills down to my grandchildren. You want more?

You know, it is interesting that the one thing that damages Obama the most for me is the vitriolic and nasty attacks his supporters continue to level at Hillary Clinton. The problem with “Party Unity” is that Obama’s SUPPORTERS truly have no interest in it. Comments like “Hillary is a loser” and “Obama doesn’t need her” from Obama’s virulent supporters-who clearly have no clue about qualifications and have ignored his current pattern of running away when the going gets tough (resigning from his church, reneging on public financing, changing his tune on oil drilling) are one of the largest reasons I plan to vote Green this year.

florenzo…your right. Now that I think about it…a community organizer is exactly what we need at this time of our history and economic crises. I’m a damn fool. How could I have been so ingnorant? The way to control people is through anger. NObama knows this. He’s coopted the tactics of Jeremiah Wright to, in his mind, prove he is superior. We don’t buy it! All you NObama fools can buy the garbage being flung at you but well reasoned, thinking people actually want a President who can lead. THAT is the bottom line. NObama is a user and a loser.
We are intent on seeing he never gets into office! He lost his chance and the thoughtless young people will experience what happened with McGovern. It caused a rift in the party and they lost! McGovern should have stepped forward and shut down Teddy Kennedy and his brain diseased comments. The tumor explained a lot.
This Kennedy inparticular has no impact on women voters given his track record with having gotten away with murder by virtue of his name. We know the people NObama and his wretched wife hang out with and it is not to our liking.
If you had confidence in your candidate you’d never have to post a deroggatory remark against Hillary Clinton who is afterall from the same party. NObama has no authority in the party and we the constituents are going to shut him down by voting for the qualified candidate.

All you bitter hung-up-on-Hillary types: Hillary is not the messiah either! Give it up and get behind your party’s nominee.

Kim,
thanks for your sincere response. I do appreciate your attempt to answer. Unfortunatly, you have to defend someone who has contridicted himself, flipflopped numerous times, for expediency. Your faith in him is admirable, but I still find courage and conviction a respectable quality in politics. If Obama was truly what he is trying to pass off he would have stood firm on his progressive stances. I am not a posing republican. I am a pragmatic Democrat who has actually worked for the DCCC. My dismay in Obama is his -yet again- spineless, political nature. He claims to be the anti-politician and yet he is really the quintessential politician. I gave up on the idealist progressive agenda because I watched the democrats lose over and over and over again…Only Bill Clinton and his moderate nature has demonstrated success in modern politics. So, not only has Obama failed my deeply lost desire to actually believe in progressive politics (because he already abandoned it after he won the primary) but he hasn’t even demonstrated any respect to a President and First Lady who re-inspired America after 12 years of dread. He is young, naive, inexperienced…and doesn’t know what he doesn’t know…and he lacks the courage to stick with his conviction to the policies he pushed in the primany. He is simply this: a politician. He is not change.

Steve, the NObama campaign needed long term Democrats like myself to win this election. As I kept saying in the primaries this isn’t a game of marbles where the winner takes them home. NObama is not qualified for office and by running his completely negative and racist campaign he branded himself.
We aren’t going to burn bra’s we’ll be burning NObama in the general election. He’s racist, inexperienced and unqualified to lead a paper clip around a piece of paper. You’re just experiencing being a sore loser before the general election.

Posted by: Hillary supports are very smart! | August 24, 2008, 2:48 pm 2:48 pm

Why do any of you believe that Hillary has more experience than Joe Biden? He has a fabulous resume, great accomplishments in the Senate. Hillary was a junior senator ..just one term more than Obama. What legislation did she author? Besides the very prominent speech she took on the floor of the Senate to say how the Iraq war was the right thing in 2003 (that too, I am sure she did in preparation for her run for President)what has she done as a Senator? If she was smart she would have told Bill Clinton to go for a holiday and run her campaign as a decisive candidate. Hillary has been very disappointing to me…I supported her at first. She ran a horrible campaign…ran out of funds so early in the race. Spend her large donation chest on frivalous stuff. She lost the first primary after having been the front runner by a long shot for so long. She demonstrated very little discipline…that’s more like George Bush..Sqaundering the budget surplus that he inherited when he came to office. I understand that she may have been the most qualified woman. but please we need someone responsible, accountable and smart to represent us.
Also all this whinig about why Obama has`not paid off her debts…Obama cannot hand her the contributions he received for his campaign to her…that woudl be wrong. Why doesn’t her 18 MM supporters each contribute a $1 and clear off 18MM of her bebt ..after all she continued in the primary because of all of you…Surely $1 per supporter is not too much to ask.
It bothers me that there is no grace or grown up behaviour from Clinton’s supporters. I definitely don’t think someone should be elected President if they don’t have statesmanship qualities. How can you lead a great country if you can’t rise above pettiness.

Sorry “UWBizKid” but “Hillary ’12″ will never happen. First, Hillary’s chances of winning the nomination in 2012 are slimmer than 2008.
why? Well, next time she won’t run against a black guy. Next time she will run against a white, southern male with a lot of money from Obamanation. Who that man will be? Most probable former Gov. Mark Warner, the keynote speaker this year at the convention.
Next time Hillary won’t count with the racist vote; however, Warner will count with the white male vote, the “any-body but Hillary vote,” “Obamanation hates Hillary vote,” and the conservative “masogynist” vote, sounds like a lot of votes, right?
Sadly Hillary’s chance was in 2008, but she blew it!!!

oh, so Kim’s true colors come out…she’s not the young, naive idealist…she’s the over-educated elitist. that was my second guess.
Here’s my questions:
1. Off Shore drilling or not?
2. Eavesdropping or not?
3. Leave Iraq immediately or not?
4. Okay to call women Sweetie or not?
5. Owes some level of respect to our former two term president or not?
6. Voting to authorize Iraq good judgement or not?
7. Experience in WA DC good or not?
Let start there.

Let me answer the first question and submit the others on another post-
Off Shore drilling or not?
Good start – Although Obama is for giving it a try, he really doesn’t think this will help. I think he’s correct to not hold up the call from Americans to drill (because Americans don’t know they don’t know this won’t help) but I’m with him and say let’s not spend loads of money on this venture because in reality it won’t work. Why, well if you go from the basic premise (let’s leave the environment out of it) that oil depletion is REAL (we’ve seen it in areas of Texas) then we cannot go on depending on this source in the years to come. So, even if you drill now, you won’t be able to produce enough in the US that we can rely upon for our needs in years to come (or even now), we’ll be spending money to get less than we need off our shores which is only temporary so why not invest that money into alternative fuels that we CAN rely on for a lifetime and create lasting jobs with those funds since even if we drill now we won’t see any oil for years. We could start TODAY with those same funds and by the time this oil would have been available, we’ll have something else that will lead us into the right path? Now, let’s talk money. Since we also know that we produce oil in this country (now) that NEVER gets to the American public, why do you think (even if we drilled for a little oil) that the oil company’s would sell it only to the US? They (the oil company’s) will sell this oil to whomever they choose and the US can’t do a damn thing about it. Now, if you’re talking about lowering the cost of gas, it won’t. Simply stated, sure supply and demand have a major affect but so does the dollar. Fact is, we’ll always be paying a lot for gas if our dollar continues to decline like it is. And, frankly, I don’t see this administration (or McCain) offering any solutions to help improve the value of the dollar (exporting). Why do you think Pickens (long time oil entreprenuer) is launching his alternative energy plans? That’s because he knows we can’t drill enough to support our needs in the US and understands the facts about oil depletion so he wants to be the first to make billions in alternative energy.
Lastly, we can talk about McCain’s exporting problem in relation to the falling dollar and Obama’s plans if you want.

Posted by: JA | August 24, 2008, 3:01 pm 3:01 pm

Mary, you make the point precisly! Joseph Biden has more experienc than NObama! This pick only emphasizes that NObama is unqualified to be the leader of anything! We out here believe in electing a leader not a man who was toally disrespectful to Senator and President Clinton. He lacks the control over his troops who trash the Clinton’s who have served this country for years.
In Joseph Biden’s words, NObama is unqualified for office. In NObama’s words he is unqualified for office. As for grace and dignity, I recollect that NObama sent out his schills to refer to Senator Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro in less than complimentary terms. So the PUMA faction is alive and well and we are voting in a block for McCain. NObama can’t make up the deficit.
You don’t win elections by cheating and we will ensure he never takes office. That is the pledge. We stand for core Democratic values not this racist attitude that has emerged in the Democratic Party.
So the pettiness is on the NObama peoples side since they don’t even recognize that they need the votes of the millions of PUMA’s out here. But we will send a message to the DNC. Next time don’t pass over a highly qualified woman with an unqualified man for office.

Posted by: UWBizKid | August 24, 2008, 3:02 pm 3:02 pm

ok kim… we all know we need to start with alternative energy. thats a no brainer. we need to do that and we need to do it aggressivly.but do you have any idea on the importance of oil? i dont just mean for energy supplies and fuel, but on everything. food, plastics, roadways, lipstick, lotions… lol i mean, ALMOST EVERYTHING revolves around oil. i know the left has made this into a bad word, but OIL is not going away for awhile.. so, that being said, you dont think we can walk and chew gum at the same time?! we cant start on alternative energy and drill for oil at the same time? is that not common sense? or have you been suckered into believing “its costs too much money”?? well, heres a little secret… we spend it one way or the other!! whether it stays here or goes to saudi arabia, mexico, canada… wherever. why not here?! anyways, i still just want the answer to my first question… is obama NOT going to steal frm the rich and give to the poor???

Posted by: tim | August 24, 2008, 3:02 pm 3:02 pm

Hey Tim,
If you’re not a right wing “nut” (using your words) then what are you? And, I have a lot of questions to answer so it takes time. Plus, I do have other things to do in my life then type on this post.
Oh, and it doesn’t matter what I think but it does matter that you really think about the issues and vote the way our founding fathers would have (in your best opinion) wanted you to do. Voting your opinion using the BEST facts you can find and leave out the dumb “character” issues is what I mean. We’re all Americans and need to be tue to what that means. If you really feel McCain fits the best then you’ll vote for him…ok, I can see that. But I really plead with you to BE SURE because I suspect your using more than just policy in your decision making process.
Lots of luck.

Posted by: Kim of Arizona | August 24, 2008, 3:04 pm 3:04 pm

By the way, NObama tried to send a message he was capable of answering that 3 am call and failed miserably. Just like he sent half the messages, it sent a loud and clear message to the electorate. He can only do half a job!

Posted by: UWBizKid | August 24, 2008, 3:04 pm 3:04 pm

This demonstrates one more reason that Obama is not ready for President. It is the current nominees responsibility to select someone, that in the event he/she is assasinated, dies in office, whatever could happen, that the V.P. can seemlessly tranisition in as President. The confidence of the country should rely on that decision to know that this person is someone during the primaries was someone that recieved enough votes they were a good choice. McCain will select Romney and they will be the winning ticket unlike Biden who got less than 2% during the primary season. His background means nothing more than showing Obama’s weakness as the selection to somhow ease Americans from thinking in some way Biden will resolve the fears of Obamas inexperience in forgein policy. It is one more reason too that you see it is not Obama running his campaign and making decisions but his committee. God help us all if Obama wins. I for one will NEVER vote for him! America cant afford to gamble on a rookie.

Posted by: Mike | August 24, 2008, 3:04 pm 3:04 pm

Kim,
Riiiiight, so we trust T. Boone Pickens, of eeeeeviiiil oil tycoon fame to bail us out, right? Why should we be listening to a greeeeedy corporate type to get us out of our energy jam, especially since he stands to make huge sums of money in the process. I know you must be against that, right?
Secondly, drilling is not, and never was, meant to be a permanent solution to anything. It was meant to be a stop-gap solution to the price problem whilst allowing us some security from say all the horrible regimes in the world which supply oil. Drilling at least has a timeframe where as a wait on the wind policy does not.
Lastly, “we” will not be spending money on drilling, the eeeeeeviiiil oil companies will. “We,” as in the American People, will actually gain money in oil tax revenues generated.
Did you know that the good old US government makes 16 cents off of every dollar you spend on gasoline while the oil companies profits are only 8 cents?
Exit question: Obama believes that Americans should be spending $4 a gallon on gas, do you?

Oh, I forgot to mention something. This is for HRC supporters who are now saying they’ll vote for McCaivman. Please, now that the primaries are over, please go back and review all of what you think you know about Obama. I’ve had to re-educate my own older sisters about Obama and what he stands for.
First of all, the idea that nobody knows what the specifics of his plans are – that’s baloney. Go to his web site. More detail than you’re likely gonna want to read: barackobama.com
Second, go to an independent and trusted source like factcheck.com and look up each of those charges Hillary leveled against him in the heat of the campaign. You’ll be surprised at what you find.
Then look at McCaivman carefully and you’ll see that his goals are not any that a thinking human being can support. That he’s repeating lies about how deeply Obama is involved with Resko and Ayers (not very) and how Wright proves somehow that Obama’s a racist (sooooo not true).
And finally, take a look at each of their life stories. Who lived in poverty growing up? Graduated near the top of his class? Earned everything he’s ever gotten? Turned down a lucrative job to help the less fortunate? Has stuck by his wife and family? Was barely able to make ends meet until the last 2-3 years? Knows how to be empathic yet tough? Isn’t a fake with a fake smile he pulls out of his pocket? Goes to bat for the returning vets? Knows how to KEEP US OUT of wars in the first place? Will keep (or restore) our individual rights and rule by the constitution?
Who? Not McCaivman. Go ahead… check it all out.

Yet Again, Obama’s action completely belied his words. As people get to know Biden, who supported/advocated Iraq war even before Bush, who was the creator of the disastrous plan of dividing post-war Iraq along ethnic lines, is the worst that can happen to the democratic ticket.
Please read this article:Biden, Iraq and Obama’s Betrayal at: http://www.alternet.org/election08/96180/biden,_iraq_and_obama's_betrayal/
excerpts from the article:
Biden has been the principal congressional backer of a de facto partition of the country between Kurdish, Sunni Arab, and Shia Arab segments, a proposal opposed by a solid majority of Iraqis and strongly denounced by the leading Sunni, Shia, and secular blocs in the Iraqi parliament. Even the U.S. State Department has criticized Biden’s plan as too extreme. A cynical and dangerous attempt at divide-and-rule, Biden’s ambitious effort to redraw the borders of the Middle East would likely make a violent and tragic situation all the worse.

Posted by: amy | August 24, 2008, 3:10 pm 3:10 pm

and by the way…I liked Obama better when was opposed to off shore drilling. I also liked him better when we were going to get out of Iraq asap. I also liked him better when seemingly supported his 20 year spiritual advisor. I would have liked to see him have the courage to not throw the man who married him, baptized his children and showed him “the way,” under the bus. Panderer. Self serving. Politician. Not change.
____________________________________
Now, why would you say all that? Do you hear what you’re saying? Does this ring a bell on positions McCain has had and changed:
Off Shore Drilling – Yes, he was against it before he was for it. Check it out.
Immigration – He’s changed so much here…I don’t know what he stands for anymore.
Taxes – He was against Bush’s tax cuts for the WEALTHY before he was for it. You know, the one that gives a cut to families making less than $250,000/yr a whopping $300 (good going McCain). Oh, and the HUGE TAX CUTS for big oil and tax cuts for company’s like (HP – Carle Fiorina) who take their company’s to other countries; Obama will give $1000 tax cut for people making less than $250,000/yr and will STOP tax advantages for company’s moving jobs out of the US.
Should I go on?

Did you know Obama released the text messages at 3:00AM and it reached from 3:30AM, almost like an answer to Hillary’s 3AM ads against Obama. Now that the Democratic party has shown that it does not respect the Clintons for their years of service, how will they respect veteran’s, the troops etc.
BTW, Biden after 30+ years in the senate is worth $150,000 and Obama with 4 years in the Senate and 10+ years in the state senate is worth $700,000. And McCain after 30+ years in the senate along with his millionaire heir wife is not allowed to buy 7 houses. If Obama or Biden did not have skills to manage their own finances after so many years, how can you trust them to manage the country’s?
Go McCain/Romney or McCain/Portman 2008. The economy will become stronger and the US will be back to leadership.

NObama actually failed at the 3:00 AM call. He only did half the job. I suppose that is ok for his supporters.
Other point, the fact that he keeps asking for money from his supporters is a clear indicator that he takes money from the poor to enrich himself and his cronies who are getting millions of dollars from you. Don’t you see that you can only expect the same result from him if he were to actually take office?
I guess he’s getting you warmed up for the harsh reality that you will be giving up that money all the time. So much for helping the poor. It seems he’s only helping himself and his friends.
NObama failed at the 3:00 am call, he also failed you and you are too blind to see it.

This fits in with her, “I’ll release my tax returns when I’m the Nominee” and “I’ll release the donors to the Clinton Library when I’m President.”

Funny how Bush keeps getting the credit for destoying the economy when it imploded when the dems took control of Congress. Gas more than doubled in price in less that 2 years. Just saying…..
Also, Bush may have “destroyed” our reputation abroad with our so called “allies,” but I would say he built up a lot of respect from our enemies. Had to make up for the Clinton years where we were laughed at by everyone in the terrorist world. Saddam, the Taliban, and Kim Jong Il aren’t laughing anymore. In this game it is better to be feared than loved. We saw what “loved” got us in ’01.
Exit Question: How many BDS and bushitler responses will this garner?

I am a former Hillary Clinton Supporter.
If McCain thinks he can win me over with his out of touch ways and negative campaigning, he needs to sit at one of his 7 or 10 kitchen tables and figure out what to do. No McCain, what a old embarassment.

For all of her spinning, triangulating, moderate Republicanism, false memories, and hen party feminism, Hillary Clinton does seem to attract loyalty. Too bad. Hillaryland is Neverland now. After the convention, Barak will be rid of the meddlesome Clintons.

Absolutely clear that Obama and his supporters hate and Hilary Clinton, no intention whatsoever to pick her, no pretence at all, slapping all HC supporters. One Obama campaign stuff told Fox News (I’ve switched from CNN to Fox, totally fed up with the former’s bias against HC) said Obama camp never ever had any intention to consider HC, she is either “in” (won nomination” or “out”. She’s out, end of story. We consider ourselves having done enough for her….if she and her supporters didn’t like it, just get out of the convention…no place for them….what shocking comments….such hatred on her face (an Obama campaign official for godness sake)…wake up laides (I am one of them)…

I can understand how some of you Hillary supporters feel, but McCain represents nearly the opposite of everything she stands for. I would have liked to see Hillary on the ticket as well– but it would be a grave mistake to ignore the issues for such a reason! Hillary Clinton, on stepping down from the race, urged her supporters to give their full support to Obama; she knows McCain stands against nearly everything she represents, and converting to McCain’s camp would be an awful betrayal of her values.

Posted by: Cky | August 24, 2008, 3:58 pm 3:58 pm

Tim, I just got caught up in a phone call and other posts. Here’s your answer:
No, Obama will NOT steal from the rich and give to the poor. The economic policy Bush (and McCain) have adopted isn’t working. What they’ve done for the past 8 years is increase the tax on people making $250,000/yr (let’s use that number for arguments sake) where it hurts to pay taxes for an average American. Bush (McCain) have decided that it’s better to give HUGE tax breaks to company’s like big oil and offer incentives in taxes to ship our jobs overseas. Check the facts, this is our current policy.
Now, the idea was that this tax policy would help company’s succeed thus bring jobs to Americans. However, this has been tried and just doesn’t work. We are losing jobs here in America and one really good reason is that our company’s get BIG tax breaks for moving off shore. You know this to be true. Our tax policy CANNOT contain tax provisions for wealthy owners of company’s to employ others around the world. Now, Obama wants to change this skewed policy and make it work for Americans. Average Americans need more relief from the high taxes we’ve been paying and we need jobs here at home so no incentives to move jobs to other countries. While it is true that company’s making huge profits will pay a little more the fact is they can and it won’t break them. Americans CANNOT pay amymore without going broke.
Now, McCain’s advisor hurt Americans (as well as Bush’s tax policy) by opening us up for the subprime mess. So thanks to the Republicans, we have less jobs, pay high taxes and now have to deal with subprime loan issues.
So the answer is no! Obama is offering help to American families. You all act like your owners of BIG COMPANY’s with your talk. These BIG COMPANY’s are the only beneficiaries in a McCain Administration. Can’t you see that?

Posted by: Kim of Arizona | August 24, 2008, 3:59 pm 3:59 pm

The Republican trolls are out in force I see. Claiming that Hillary was not vetted (when she actually was), just to whip up old resentments and perhaps drive a wedge between PUMA and the Democratic Party. Come on folks, this is Carl Rove high school politics at its best. Get a grip and put this nonsense aside.

I changed from the Republican party to the Democratic party in the primaries just to VOTE FOR HILARY! Shame on Obama and the entire Democratic party officials for not hearing or listening to ALL the people! On a technicality, Obama wins because he and the Democratic officials suppressed the will of the people in Florida and Michigan only to welcome their voice AFTER he gets in from this technicality! So hypocritical!! Shame on them even more to not even truly consider Hilary for the VP spot! Don’t even try to tell us you TRIED! We are not that stupid! Whatever happened to the true democratic process? I am so disenchanted and join the ranks that are!
Biden is a good senator but what was worng with Hilary? She was tested throughout the primary and you knew she had more votes than Obama! There is NO WAY I can allow giving you my vote as you have proven that you choose not to listen to the will of the people.
I would love for Hilary to run as an independent but know that she is the only one with the true loyalty of all the candidates and will stay with the party’s decision even though she knows they are a bunch of hypocrites.
It would be wonderful for McCain to choose Hilary . Then and only then have we found a true ticket that will listen to the will of the people! I can envision the long lines to vote for this ticket!

Posted by: Sandy | August 24, 2008, 4:30 pm 4:30 pm

Just because she came in second she deserves a look! Give me a break! Her and her husband are the the reason Democrats lost the 2000 election and they are doing their darnest to lose this one for Democrats as well because of their self-serving, narcistic attitudes. I see where McCain is using Clinton in ads now….what did she expect when she declared her and McCain were the only ones experienced to lead (albeit, with hers derived from her husband)…Democrats are much better off with no Clinton on the ticket…

Posted by: indy_voter | August 24, 2008, 4:35 pm 4:35 pm

La Chatte,
McCain, as well as all other Republicans, are going to say and to do anything that stirs up division in the Democratic party. That is what Republicans do. But when Democrats stir up trouble in their own party like the Clintonistas….well, that is downright suicidal and will bring about the self-fulfiling prophecy that Obama is un-electable.

Posted by: Kim of Arizona | August 24, 2008, 4:41 pm 4:41 pm

I believe that most of the men posting here are sexist pigs. I think it confirms the suspicions that Hillary lost some votes just because she is a woman. I didn’t say she lost because of that alone, I’m saying it was part of the bigger picture in her loss. Telling women they are on the rag, or bitchy, etc, is all the more reason for us to push back and not put up with that crap. I plan to vote for the democratic platform, only because I don’t vote against human rights like republicans. However, I’m certainly considering not voting at all. I think Obama is Bush part deux. A young moron with an old idiot. A guy who can’t speak a complete sentence without stuttering and stammering. Please give us someone who can speak a complete sentence for pete’s sakes who can put a complete thought out there for all of us to understand. David Axelrod is Karl Rove part deux. He’s just the democratic form of it. These are the two weakest candidates I personally have ever seen. I guess when there’s no one else to vote for, vote for the young, good lookin’ guy that doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground? I think it’s pretty crappy what was done to Hillary and if the idiots voting for Obama can’t see that, well, they will see it when November rolls around…lol. Clinton definitely prevented him from winning….BUT you can’t blame it on her directly. Obama only has himself to blame for that. Hindsight is twenty twenty. I know of 10 people off hand who won’t vote for that moron based on the Hillary factor. They’ll stay home. If he thinks he’s going to win without that vote, he’s crazy. I feel sorry for the guy. And “C,” none of us need to know how to run a campaign to have an opinion, so shove it.

Posted by: Ellie | August 24, 2008, 4:43 pm 4:43 pm

I think Hillary should run as a third party candidate and she would either win on her own or assure that she would split the vote with NOBAMA assuring that NOBAMA would not be President.
Either way she is doing The American People a favor by keeping The NOBAMA and their liberal anti war lets destroy America out of power!!!

Posted by: NOBAMA_BIDONE 08 | August 24, 2008, 4:43 pm 4:43 pm

Ellie,
Guess who’s benefiting from Karl Rove’s advice…really. Yup, McCain…check it out. Who else do you think is behind McCain’s hateful ads?
Look deeper and by the way….OBAMA won’t need your vote or those of your idiot relatives…..his grassroots campaign is so strong…new people are going to be flocking to the polls….ahh..something good ol’ Karl can’t manipulate!

Posted by: Kim of Arizona | August 24, 2008, 4:51 pm 4:51 pm

WHOA……just read that the Democratic National Committee voted today to Unanimously restore FULL DELEGATE VOTING RIGHTS to the states of Florida and Michigan, so that they can all cast their votes at the Convention in Denver…..
Here’s hoping that every single one of them casts their vote for Hillary, and that she steals the Nomination right out from under obama’s nose……IT COULD HAPPEN…..they were SO CLOSE in the Delegate count, and with the Liberal Media starting to negatively lam-blast obama-biden (finally!!!) and Swiftboat him, there are Delegates likely to switch and vote instead for Hillary, after all……….! LOL

Good Pick:
I’ll have no hesitation to vote for McCain.
Obama just doesn’t have the gut and materials to be president.
I don’t like him because I value the hardworking ethics of the American Core value. Beautiful words can be used to paint the house. What has he done, other than soaked with hatred from Wright church.

Posted by: Goodpick | August 24, 2008, 4:57 pm 4:57 pm

Not a big surprise that Obama continues to show his lack of wisdom and perhaps lack of confidence by picking another person than Clinton. This Obama-Biden ticket reminds me much of the Bush-Cheney ticket, an inexperience pairing with an old so-called wise guy. Looks where we are as a country with this pairing.
This may work out better for Clinton since she will have an option to run again in 4 years.

Posted by: vote4thebest | August 24, 2008, 5:03 pm 5:03 pm

Goodpick-
Yeah, go with your gut….that’s really a smart way to vote!
Obama’s story is truly American and you better get used to stories like his because white people like you and I will be in the minority. I actually don’t have a problem with the changing make-up in society but you people will. I feel sorry for you and our country because making “gut” decisions is just wrong. Important decisions such as this should be made on sound logically based reasons. You “my friend” are making decisions based on perceived character issues. You don’t want to see the reality of McCain’s issues. Okay, vote with your eyes closed… you’ll deserve what you’ll get!

She is a lucky woman — educated, good mother and wife. And as a great Senator. She has people’s respect.
You just can’t have everything.
Barack seems to have it all. But really the poor man had no father and (fulltime mother).

I for one am very tired of the supporters of Senator Obama who write things like “get over it” and “just grow up” or my personal favorite “you’re an idiot”. Great way to bring people together! And they seem to be missing the point altogether. If Senator Obama had made an open attempt to bring Senator Clinton on to the ticket, her supporters would have followed suit (at least a majority of them), even if she had declined. The problem is, he appears not to have bothered to make even the semblance of attempting to do so. And his supporters, as I have said, do not help the situation. With regard to Senator Biden, I personally like Joe, but putting him on the ticket seems to go against the very ideals Senator Obama stated as his goals, and tends to emphasize the fact that he is extremely low on experience. The ticket seems to be up side down. The man with the experience should be on top, with the other learning from him. Just for the record, I do not now and have never, intended to vote for Senator Obama. I probably would have voted for Hillary Clinton. And by the by, I am not a racist just because I do not like Senator Obama. I just happen to believe he is a very slick politician, but not a very experienced statesman.
Now the DNC says that Florida and Michigan delegations will be given full votes. What a bunch of hypocrites!!! Then again, there is that roll call vote!

This is better than anything anybody could make up:
Biden: “…right now I don’t believe he (hussein) is (ready to be president). The presidency is not something that leads itself to on-the-job training”.
Biden: ” I would be honored to run with or against John McCain. He’d leave the country better off.”
Biden: hussein is “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean.”
As with michelle (“For the FIRST TIME in my life I am proud of my country.”), biden’s mouth will prove to be so toxic that he, too, will be muzzled and placed in an undisclosed location away from reporters until the campaign is over.

Would just one Hilary supporter please step up and explain why you are so eager to elect McCain and see Roe overturned? Is that your real agenda? You know perfectly well that will happen. Roe is now hanging by a thread in a 5/4 split on the court. The 5 liberals are all old. One is 88, and will be 92 by the end of this term. The anti-choice 4 are all young. The next Pres will get to appoint at least one and maybe two judges to replace pro-Roe judges.
McCain has promised, over and over to appoint judges who will overturn Roe.
Are your personal feelings of being dissed really serious enough to make you want to see Roe overturned?
And do you really think that will get Hillary elected in 2012?
She could run as the woman who killed a woman’s right to choose. Wow!!

Joe Biden argued on the first day of the announcement of his selection that John McCain is nothing more than a mere clone of George Bush.
Joe Biden knows that John McCain ran against George Bush for the Republican nomination in 2000 and millions of Republicans supported John McCain during the 2000 primaries. John McCain also gave the nominating speech for Bob Dole in 1996 who also ran against George Bush’s father. To say that John McCain is a clone of George Bush can not be any further from the truth and it is like saying Barack Obama is a clone of Hillary Clinton.

When Bill C. won the primary in 1992 were you happy with his VP choice of Paul Tsongas or Jerry Brown? Oh that’s right, he didn’t pick one of the other people who had gotten so many votes. He picked someone he thought he could effectively lead with.
Doesn’t Obama have the right to do the same as the Great Clintons?

Hillary will not run in 2012 so get over that. The black community will definitely NOT vote for her again. She was so nasty during this past campaign-there are things between her and our community that will never be repaired. (bridges have been burned)with her and Bill.- Men will not vote for her because of all this fall out now. Men don’t like a lot of drama or women that have brooms! And she will have problems with money and donators. Obama could never have her as VP because she can’t be trusted. That’s the bottom line. The Clintons are very strange people if you study their history. I never vote for the Clintons for anything. I just couldn’t.

On the day of the announcement of his selection to be the Democratic nominee for vice-President, Joe Biden was quick to go on attack and use the Bush clone metaphor in describing John McCain. Cloning of course involves copying genes. Issues involving clones, copying and plagiarism seem to be recurrent themes in the life of Joe Biden. It has been reported that during his first year at Syracuse University Law School, Joe Biden lifted five pages of material out of a total fifteen page legal research and writing class memo from a Fordham Law Review article. Copying and mimicking behavior is sometimes said to be the sincerest form of flattery but plagiarism falls into a special category of a backhanded compliment because it implies a disdain for the original author and your audience. Did Joe Biden believe that none of his professors would look up his citations or have read or be familiar with the Fordham law review article on product liability. Did Joe Biden believe that law review articles from a Catholic Jesuit institution such as Fordham in New York did not carry the same weight and would not be widely read as an article appearing in Harvard Law Review or Standford University Law Review and therefore it was okay to lift a third of his paper from the article.
Many Catholics would be offended that a fellow Irish Catholic like Joe Biden would have such a low opinion of a prominent Catholic institution law review to use it as a source to commit plagiarism.
It is almost a slap in the face against all Catholics and Catholic higher institutions of learning. It would have been better if Joe Biden plagiarized a Baptist Church university law review such Baylor University Law Review instead of a Catholic University law review involving his own faith.

Biden’s VP candidacy demonstrates the value of persistence. As Woody Allen said, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.”
Anybody throwing a Hillary hissy fit needs to think about the damage this will visit on Senator Clinton.

TIM:
You keep asking the question “will Obama take from the rich to give to the poor” as if that is the most important question in the world. So far, no one has answered your rather stupid question because the answer is way to obvious. Yes Obama will take from the rich and give to the poor and RIGHTLY so! What the Hell do you think cowboy Bush and the Republican Party have been doing to the poor and Middle Class Americans for the last 8 years? I will tell you what they have been doing–taking from the Middle Class and poor to make themselvs more rich! THe Republicans have gutten Medicare and medical programs resulting in the death of many poor people all across this country while sending good jobs overseas, turning control of our economy to the wealthy corporations and “fixing” the oil markets for themeselves. Where do you think the Bush family made all its money form—water? 99 percent of the rich pay NO income tax at all while they contiue to rob the Middle Class and destroy the country. Go ahead and vote for McNut it you like, but for me I can’t even stand the thought of another 4 years of the horrible Busy policies that McNut would obviously continue. Please stop trying to decieve us because you are failing very badly and THANK GOD for that!

I like Biden but Hilary earned that spot and should have gotten it – Obama just cost himself the White House becasue of his ego.
The democrats are just too stupid to get the top job – they carry to much baggage – Palosi, Reid, Howard Dean.
Obama just has never done anything but give speeches and quarter back all those who have done anything – Nice work if you can get it. But this punk undid himself by treating Hilary as he did.

Iffy, Guess you have been looking at McCain and his ill-fitting suits for far too long!! Senator Obama cuts a very fine presidential in his suits!! Tall and lean, he exudes inner power and is 1000 times more intelligent than John McCain. All McCain can talk about is POW, POW, POW, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, keep sending those large orders of cigarettes to Iran—that is a good way to kill Iranians off, and his deplorable, slanderous, false ADs and comments about Senator Obama. McCain is so jealous and envious Obama, that it’s driving McCain crazy. The ONLY higher training McCain has had was the U.S. Naval Academy and he just about FLUNKED THERE. McCain is not an intelligent man, he isn’t even smart, he KNOWS HOW TO USE THE SYSTEM TO HIS OWN GAIN AND HE IS THE ULTIMATE GOLD DIGGER!! At 40 years of age he shacks up with 22 year old rich bimbo and obtains their marriage license BEFORE the divorce is FINAL. BOTH JOHN and CINDY ARE FULL-FLEDGED ADJULTERS!! Fine representation the Republicans want in the White House. NO MORALES AND NO VALUES!!!

I do NOT belive that American women are that stupid and dumb especially those of the Democratic Party who have seen what Cowboy Bush and the Republicn Party have done to this great nation. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU for your evil deceit and nasty words. I am more convinced than ever that Obama will beat the hell out of McNut and his party of hate which preaches only hate for all that is good in this country and their own personal gread for more and more wealth. Tim, McCain is just causing trouble; beleive me, IF Hilliary had been selected, McCain would still be running those dispicable ADs. The Repubs would have loved to have Hilliary be the nominee or VP, they would treat her just like they are treating Senator Obama, only they would dig up all the scandals of Bill’s and Hilliary’s pasts! See, FACTS do not matter to McCain, he loves creating scandalous scenarios for his opponents.
Hillary’s hard-core fans wanted a woman president; they have gone overboard and made her an idol and the “Chosen One”. It is unfortunate too, because Hilliary’s and Barack Obama’s policies are almost identical…the only exception is universal health care, but even the, they were close. The Hilliary PUMAs and others have forgotten about what is BEST for our COUNTRY and for the Democratic Party; they are ONLY THINKING OF THEIR EGO AND OF HILLIARY…..EVERYTHING ELSE IS SECONDARY TO HILLIARY. They don’t even care that McCain is NOT A SUPPORTER OF WOMEN’S ISSUES, such as EQUAL PAY for Women. Their behavior and their actions are certainly over the top! Even Elvis Presley fans weren’t/aren’t that crazy!! AND Elvis was and still is the KING of Rock and Roll!!

If Obama’s candidacy is derailed by all of you fake democrat sore losers, liberal racists in disguise, and so called Hillaryites in this election — because of your aspirations for Hillary’s candidacy in 2012 — believe me, she will still not secure the Democratic nomination four years from now, mainly because she and Bill Clinton are lying racists who have been exposed in this election along with her fabricated 35 year resume. If she had won the Republicans would have eaten her alive. In addition to those shortcomings, many of us Obama supporters, out of our disgust for your efforts and negative actions now against our candidate, will do everything in our collective powers to destroy and rally our support against her. Question: If Obama were to lose now (2008), what makes any of you think that he wouldn’t run again against the Clintons in 2012? Obama Now! or if necessary, Obama 2012?

(Cotinued) Hilliary do not have anywhere near the experience that Biden has acquired as a U.S. Senator. Simply put, there just is NO comparison. Not taking anything away from Hilliary, but she did run on “35 years of EXPERIENCE” when she had actually been in official government service for all of ONE full term in the U.S. Senate (six years) and almost two years now on her second term, of which the majority has been spent campaigning. So, no, there is no comparison whatsoever. Senator Obama made the RIGHT CHOICE FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.

If Hillary were truly this great feminist, Democrat figure-head that many of her supporters project her to be, and she were truly about party first, ego secondary, we wouldn’t be having this discussion, for she would be on message and on point with the nominee — while pushing her constituency to the fullest to garner their support behind the nominee. Instead, she sits back in the cut and lets mischief brew within the party, with her subtle aspirations for tomorrow dripping from her fangs. What if she had won the Democratic nomination? What would she and her supporters expect from Obama and his loyal base? She will never get what she is unwilling to give. The same for her misguided supporters. By the way, I believe that most of these negative posts are by Republican operatives praying upon the simpleminded within the Democratic party to become turncoats and support old man McCain. How can any Democrat with an I.Q. 5 below plant life give away your support to McCain? Because he is a war hero? If my John McCain history serves me, he was shot down, captured and gave in to the pressures from the enemy. In other words, he was broken. He gave up information and condemned America for his captors instead of standing strong till the end. What’s heroic about that? A Jack Bauer he isn’t – that’s for sure. Be ever mindful my fellow Democrats of those “wolves in sheep clothing” who would lead you astray.

I guess we now know who John McCain’s choice will be as Vice President in a guard from his Vietnam POW days beating on American Soldiers as Barack Obama has chosen his chief thug whose family has been joyously bashing, torturing and terrorizing a gay invalid in Lawrence Sinclair.
I had honestly thought Biden had shot his wad when David Plouffe took over for David Axelrod in dealing with Lawrence Sinclair and “smilin’ Joe” decided not to bribe Mr. Sinclair, but to send in the storm troopers in everyone from the Federal Marshal’s, DC Police, Social Security and the entire state of Delaware justice system led by his bouncing baby boy, Beau Biden was complete overkill like nuking an ant.
Apparently though, the stomach turns both ways like in the mafia, because when Barry Obama came asking for a favor, Joe Biden made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“It’s like this Barry. I get your sodomite keester out of hot water by tossing Lawrence Sinclair in prison and you make me Master of the Obama plantation or I happen to pass this onto the FBI and you end up in prison.
You may kiss the ring now”, quothe the Biden.
For Barack Obama to choose Biden is simply Watergate suicidial. For Biden to willingly jump on a ticket considering the outright unAmerican thuggery he has had his boy carrying out against Lawrence Sinclair in the biggest gay bashing in history, is just begging for impeachment and prison time for him.
For a review of Joe Biden’s accomplishments:
1. He had the Delaware Attorney General’s office create a bogus Grand Jury indictment.
2. He had the DC police illegally arrest and detain Lawrence Sinclair.
3. While in custody he deprived Mr. Sinclair of his needed medications as he has a brain tumor.
4. While in custody he had the DC police “loose” Mr. Sinclair so legal counsel could not find him.
5. While in custody he deprived Mr. Sinclair of phone access.
6. While in custody he had the Federal Attorney attempt to hold Mr. Sinclair indefinitely on outrageously high bail.
All of those facts are human rights violations against international law which belong in The Hague.
Out of custody, Joe Biden, as this was coming out of Delaware was sending out forged legal papers to Social Security to get Mr. Sinclair’s benefits cancelled which he depends on and then had him terrorized in threatening to make him repay all benefits.
Out of custody, the Delaware Attorney General’s office has been seeding false stories into the press.
Out of custody, the Delaware Attorney General’s office via Susan Dwyer has refused to provide Mr. Sinclair’s legal counsel with evidence of charges which they are illegally quoting to the press.
Currently, Joe Biden, via his son, Delaware Attorney General and the above deputy, Susan Dwyer, are attempting to imprison Mr. Sinclair for life on a misdemeanor, blackmailing him to plead guilty on the twisting of the law “he is a career criminal”.
That charge is meant for criminals who are committing ceaseless crimes in the said state in violent crimes, not for petty theft. (Note Mr. Sinclair has shown proof there was no crime in Delaware and in fact by the outrageous “check cashing charges” he was made to pay he in this is the victim which Delaware should be investigating.)
Ms. Dwyer in a recent taunting letter to Mr. Sinclair threatening him with life in prison muses that it, “Makes my misdemeanor offer seem really good, doesn’t it?”
Yes Ms. Dwyer it does sound good like a Chinese communist threatening to bash in your child’s brains unless you testify against your husband for being a subversive “Christian”.
One does not have to agree with one aspect of Lawrence Sinclair in being a non violent gay male with a habitual criminal past, to note Lawrence Sinclair is an American Political Prisoner by Barack Hussein Obama and his chief thug, Joe Biden.
One does not throw gay people acting out into prison in not being able to deal with their homosexuality in their past. One instead Ms. Dwyer puts them into counseling in humane treatment.
This is thee most reprehensible forms of the abuse of power. This is worse than Hillary Clinton stalking the “bimbo eruption women” and the Mexican blackmail of George W. Bush which has left Border Agents Ramos and Compean in United States prisons for doing their jobs.
This is the sort of political thuggery one finds in Marxist regimes throughout history. If Mr. Sinclair was a Georgian he would now be having his South Ossetia explored by having a big Russian gun shoved up it for daring to exercise his rights inside his own country.
For this kind of despotic action to be occurring before a group is even elected and getting away with it is the blackest of marks on Helen Thomas, Charlie Rose, Dan Rather and Seymour Hersh who are touted as the biggest antagonists of the United States government.
Antagonists when it is George Bush, but as long as it is a brooding Robert Mugabe and his own smiling Joe Stalin terrorizing an American citizen, one will notice complete silence from these shills for a new Marxist order.
Perhaps all of this will be a good thing though as now the world press will have to start paying attention to what Joe Biden has orchestrated out of Delaware and in political payback he has now been chosen to be the literal VICE or Criminal President in waiting the impeachment of the criminal Presidential Candidate Barack Hussein Obama who is guilty of forgery in producing fraudulent documents concerning his United States birth which is a federal crime, and, in definite crimes against the United States government Mr. Obama is guilty of trying to overthrow it by establishing himself as a foreign national against that nation’s Constitution.
Deputy Dwyer can be smug in her power now brutalizing an American citizen, but when the political tides turn, she will not have her excuse in her own trial nor more than Nazi’s did after 1945 and no more than KGB thugs did after 1991 when Russia settled it’s political debts.
Normal American governmental employees strain to protect the citizenry as inside their hearts there is a still small voice reminding them of the power they have is a responsibility.
Ms. Dwyer has shown none. Beau Biden has trampled, spit, ripped and ground into the dirt the Constitutions of the United States and Delaware all so his father can get his Vice Presidential nomination.
As for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, well they must be so enamoured with Lawrence Sinclair that they have now asked him to join their ticket as Mr. Sinclair is going to be a part of the Obama / Biden union in a menage a trois in some type of suicidal pact these two politicians have in destroying their careers.
There are felonious high crimes from abuse of power, conspiracy, terrorism, fraud, false charges and illegal imprisonment.
Lawrence Sinclair is not guilty of any of this, but it is pure guilt from Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
Lawrence Sinclair’s original embarrassing story was transformed into a felony story, but now his story will be a historical story of impeachment and prison time for the Obama machine and Biden syndicate.
Democrats had better wake up to this as Obama/Biden 2008 is going to forever destroy the Democratic Party in the United States if this is not checked immediately.
God help this country from the lamentation, mourning and woe which is being foisted upon it by the blind who think Barack Obama is the messiah and Joe Biden is his dingy halo.

I have read so much pro and con in this blog. a lot of dirt and untruths. Before saying something a person should know what they are talking about. Obama, did show respect to H. Clinton talked to her many times on phone and in person. He has given her prime time and day to talk on Womans rights day. and the name in roll call at the convention. so that should be uniting the Dems. and Clinton supporters. In my 79 years I have learned one thing and that is united we win and divided we fail. McCain will be 8 more years of Bush and the same old thing. He shows no respect for women. He cheated on his first wife, many times.is against health care, going green. This shows in wanting to drill more in the ocean. If you ever saw the fish dead on the beach and birds covered with oil, you wouldn’t want that either Obama did say he would look into it if that is what the people want but really isn’t for it. Atomic fuel, OK but what are you going to do with all the atomic waiste. no state wants it do you want to live near it and chance getting cancer. wind, solor is good, clean and green. Hydrogen for cars clean and works. It will take time to get these things but once we do we will be a clean and green country. These are the things Obama is for. But no matter who you want or who you vote for you will live with it not only for 8 years but the starting of new life, in our country. Obama is for change and we for sure need it. He also tried to fight with out throwing dirt but the Republicans keep doing that so it will turn into a very messey election. I am really sorry I have voted republican all my life, and now understand what my Grandfather said when he said the Democrates were for the middle man and the poor, I have signed up Democratic now and will vote for Obama and Biden. He made a good choice, he chose experience and a person who wants change also even though he has been in Washington a long time. So with the two of them you have a person who is thoughtful and studys a thing over before doing something some one who will listen to all sides and another person with a lot of experience a very good combination. go Obama/Biden

Bam-Bam has been running from the war since 2001. Get real! Republicans own foreign policy; Democrats own our failing public schools. Will you tell Jesus and God they are hypocrites, that they are stupid, that they are not part of heaven, that they are empty suits, that they are Muslims, and everything else FALSE YOU have thrown at Obama because he is not the same color you are?? NOONE KNOWS what color our God is, and from what I understand Jesus was more brown than white. Food for thought. ALL GOD’S CHILDREN ARE EQUAL, red, or yellow, black, or white, brown or red, freckled children, red-haired children, blue-eyed, brown-eyed, black-eyed, etc, etc, etc. Perhaps God made us like M&Ms, of different colors, different bone structures, different heights, etc, etc. for variety. Imagine how it would be if EVERYONE WAS WHITE, OR EVERYONE WAS BROWN!! It would be a COLORLESS NATION. God knew what he was doing when he created us, remember, God DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES!! And to hear a lot of you, you seem to believe God made a mistake in creating those who do not look like you!! I’d say some of you have a lot to explain after you leave earth! I am a White Woman who saw segregation in the south when I was young and it was not pretty! I used to wonder why the whites hated the blacks so much, yet they had them working for them as cooks (preparing their food with those BLACK hands) and nannies (handling their white babies with those BLACK hands). It was like watching someone trying to talk through BOTH sides of their mouths. I don’t think “hypocrite” is too strong a word to describe these white people!!

Why on earth would you (Hillary Supporters)vote for John McCain. John McCain doesn’t share any of the issues that Hillary holds dear for the American public. Obama and Hillary’s platform are more alike than different. If seems to me that the logical choice for middle class americans is Obama, and the only reason you will not vote for him would be out of spite. It seems kind of hypocritical for you to question Obama’s judgement when your judgement seems questionable. Grow up and stop acting like spoiled children who did not get their way at the toy store.

To me, the key aspects of strong leadership (in business, government, etc.) are finding team members smarter and/or more capable than you are in their respective domains, setting a clear vision for and path toward success for them and then creating an environment in which consistent execution leads to progress.
Joe Biden not only brings foreign policy cred to the table but also the experience and muscle in DC to turn vision into reality. Smart move.
What the US needs first and foremost right now is to be inspired and led. If Obama runs the country half as good as good as he ran his campaign, it will be ten times better than the Bush years.

Threats and force do not bring Unity. Hopefully, they bring Prosecutions.
WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED
Thanks to several alert readers here at No Quarter, I have learned about a new documentary on Caucus Fraud that is just coming out. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED, by Gigi Gaston, came into being according to their website because:
As Americans, we expect certain liberties and rights that were granted us by our forefathers, who wrote documents like the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. WE THE PEOPLE expect that these fundamental rights will always be protected.
However, in the current Democratic Presidential Primary, this has not been the case. We believe that the The Democratic National Committee (DNC) made a grave error by depriving American voters of their choice of Hillary Clinton as Democratic nominee. Senator Clinton, by all accounts, except caucuses, won the Primary Election and, therefore, should be the 2008 Democratic Nominee.
That didn’t happen, due largely to illegitimate and illegal acts. We have interviews of many accounts from caucus states recounting threats, intimidation, lies, stolen documents, falsified documents, busing in voters in exchange for paying for “dinners,” etc.
There are at least 2000 complaints, in Texas alone, of irregularities directed towards the Obama Campaign, that have lead to a very fractured and broken Democratic Party.
The preview, all 33 minutes of it, is compelling. In essence, it is a visual companion to the work of Dr. Lynette Long at Caucus Fraud and Peniel Cronin on Primaries and Caucuses (which will appear at NQ shortly). In short, it is disturbing not just how this happened, but THAT it happened in our country.
I invite you to watch the preview to this documentary, about which the authors said this:
This documentary is about the disenfranchising of American citizens by the Democratic Party and the Obama Campaign. We the People have made this film. Democrats have sent in their stories from all parts of America.
We want to be heard and let the country know how our party has sanctioned the actions of what we feel are Obama campaign Chicago Machine dirty politics.
We believe this campaign of Change from Chicago encouraged and created an army to steal caucus packets, falsify documents, change results, allow unregistered people to vote, scare and intimidate Hillary supporters, stalk them, threaten them, lock them out of their polling places, silence their voices and stop their right to vote, which is, of course, all documented in WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED.
This documentary contains powerful, important information. I urge you to spread the word however you are able. Now is the time.
To view, CLICK HERE.
My deepest thanks to all of those at WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED for your commitment to democracy, to the rights of Americans, all Americans, to vote. Thank you for your courage and integrity in getting this critical information out. And thank you for bringing the voices of these Americans out for us all to witness.

re: According to two officials involved with the search, Hillary “asked not to be vetted unless she was going to be picked”. (see “Biden got Obama call during root canal”, AP article, 8-23-08)
This fits in with her, “I’ll release my tax returns when I’m the Nominee” and “I’ll release the donors to the Clinton Library when I’m President.”
—————————————
For the record, Hillary said that she did not want to be vetted unless she was in SERIOUS consideration for VP, NOT that she was actually selected as his VP. There is a BIG difference between those two statements. if you are going to repeat something, make sure that you do it accurately.

This nominee was Hillary’s and then this rookie punk decided to throw his hat in the ring with his suede MLK speeches and sucked in all these people into supporting him as the nominee like a bunch of sheeple when he didn’t deserve it. By picking Biden as his running mate Obama has put the McCain campaign in a very difficult position. McCain was planning on selecting Romney but with Biden’s strong ties to Pennsylvania it now put’s Pennsylvania into play for Obama. Romney brings nothing to the table for Pennsylvanians so now the McCain campaign will be forced to put former Gov Tom Ridge on the ticket in order to counter Biden. The problem that presents for McCain is his statement last week that his pick for vp would not be a pro-choice candidate. Ridge is pro-choice and his selection will alienate the right wing of the Republican party. It shall be interesting as it now put’s McCain in an awkward situation but then I supposed the ‘double talk express’ will come up with some new spin to justify Ridge.

I like both Clinton and Obama, however, Clinton acted like a big spoiled loser and her hubby made many negative comments about Sen Obama before she conceded. He has selected someone that puts some conservative in his administration, I’m sure, in hope of winning the vote of the Dems that are just not confident in “him”. Him and Hillary are just alike, how could they have helped eachother? If her supporteres go out and vote for McCain then it’s throwing a punch at HER. She will still have a seat in his cabinet, probably one more powerful than VP.

In spite of the fact that Obama’s 3:00am VP announcement was a direct, and not-so-subtle, slap at Hillary and her supporters for her Primary criticism of his notorious and painfully evident inexperience, the Clintons are ecstatic over Obama’s pick of “Jawbone” Biden as his VP. A man who can speak eloquently ad-nauseam while saying absolutely nothing of substance. The McCain camp will certainly exploit Biden’s former prolific praise of McCain; his multiple assertions that Obama was not sufficiently experienced to assume the Presidency; and, who correctly noted that the White House was not the proper venue for Obama’s: “On-The-Job-Training”. Obviously Obama was smart enough to recognize that he needed a “Handler” close-by 24/7; and, no-doubt has scheduled Biden for remedial training in diaper changing. It’s a good time to invest in “Pampers”. It’s become apparent that Obama has some insidious need to constantly poke the Clintons in the eyes. One has to wonder if an “angry” Michelle Obama is prompting such responses! However, the Clinton’s, astute in the way of politics, will simply re-enforce their base of supporters in preparation for a now certain 2012 bid. Greg Neubeck

The VP post is meaningful for one reason only:
Can he/she make the very best replacement as President, not to get the president elected. Can Biden do this? Is he to old? Does he have health issues? Anything can happen, and historically has. Will you be confident with President Biden? or a President Rommney? i/e/ Truman; Johnson{two of them}; Ford. The VP is not there to shore up the elected Predident, thats what should be voting for.

Posted by: JJ | August 25, 2008, 12:12 pm 12:12 pm

I think Biden was a brilliant choice…if Obama’s intention is to lose the election! And I think up until Russia moved south into Georgia a couple of weeks ago, Obama thought the only real military issue he was going to have to face as a new President was getting the troops out of Iraq. He then realized he has no experience in foreign policy, much less dealing with the Russian Bear trying to reunite the Soviet Union. NATO, and the EU have been extremely ineffective dealing with the Russians. It’s evidently they are going to do what they want to do, when they want to do it. Obama knows he is out of his league and the only way to get out of this without losing face was to throw in an invisible towel, Joe Biden! If Obama really wanted to win the election, he would have chosen Hillary. That was a no-brainer!

Posted by: James | August 25, 2008, 1:09 pm 1:09 pm

Joe Biden argued on the first day of the announcement of his selection that John McCain is nothing more than a mere clone of George Bush. Joe Biden knows that John McCain ran against George Bush for the Republican nomination in 2000 and millions of Republicans supported John McCain during the 2000 primaries. John McCain also gave the nominating speech for Bob Dole at the Republican Convention in 1996. For all of those who don’t remember Bob Dole ran a spirited primary contest against George Bush’s father.
To say that John McCain is a clone of George Bush can not be any further from the truth and it is like saying Barack Obama is a clone of Hillary Clinton.

Posted by: politicsandtraditions | August 25, 2008, 1:23 pm 1:23 pm

First of all, if Hillary got 18 million votes, Obama got 19 million. Secondly, Obama as the nominee can, should, could, pick anyone he wants, wanted, and so he chose to pick who he picked, get over it! If he didn’t want Hillary, he didn’t want Hillary. Did you see Edwards crying and trying to keep his supporters flames going? Or Richardson or Kuchinich or any of them? Hillary didn’t win this nomination, Obama did. And third, she and her husband and her and their supporters need to show respect to Senator Obama too, what is he, chopped liver? They know darn well they played the race card on Obama throughout that entire primary especially Hillary in the last two states, and Bill especially in South Carolina. Sorry, but you reap what you sow and that’s just the way it is. They sowed a lot of disdain during the primary. So stop blaming Obama for what Bill sowed and for what Hillary sowed. Hillary and Bill think it’s all about them because Obama has let them get away with ‘murder, giving in to their demands, writing checks to her, raising money for her, keeping her on his website forever. Why? She lost. Haven’t she and Bill ever seen a basketball or baseball game? When the other team loses, THEY LOSE! They don’t try to rally ‘their supporters’ behind them after losing. They just go on to the ‘next game’ and that is what Hillary and her supporters need to do, go play in the ‘next game’, whatever that game may be. But it is not about them now, it is about who the current nominee is, and that is Obama, so Hillary, Bill and their supporters had better wipe their tears and rise with the rising sun and move on! Because their tirades are getting too tired, and if the situation had been reversed, I guarantee you Obama would not have been able to get away with half the stuff Hillary and Bill and their supporters have been doing and gotten away with thus far. Obama/Biden ’08!!!

Clinton supporters who want to vote for John McCain have some serious issues and I for one am glad to see them leave the Democratic party (if they ever were Democrats). The American people have been subjected to eight years of Republican greed, mismanagement, corruption and lies. John McCain wants to continue in the foot steps of Bush (voted with him 95% of the time) and worse yet McCain never saw an international situation where he didn’t want to commit young American troops to die for questionable reasons. The man is true warmonger! I am tired of following low intelect leaders who rely on bluster and threats to deal with complex issues around the world instead of diplomacy. McCain, like Bush is rich and dumb – he graduated 894 out of 899 in college and it shows everyday, but the most disturbing thing about him is his lie about running a respectful campaign on the issues. If he can’t even keep that promise how can he be trusted to keep any others. America don’t be fooled – he is not one of us – he wants to continue to exploit the middle class like the typical Republican slime he is.

The childish rhetoric and complete lack of respect for differing opinions on this site is monumental. people have aright to their opinion. When you call someone “stupid” because you don’t like their opinion you mark yourself as obtuse, ignorant and childish. Are any of you old enough to actually vote?

nap time, Why is McCain the villasn if he does not pick Hillary for his running mate? Why would he pick Hillary for his vice president. She comes with baggage called vince foster, white water, travel gate, the nature of her relationship with Vernon Jordan, her husband’s unabashed fornication with young women and his constant lies about everything. I can list the problems for anotther hour and would not finish. Who would take her for a vp, you need a mac truck to carry all of that baggage.

Hillary is fine, and so is the Democratic Party…..that is the Republican’s worse nightmare….Party Unity, and if the can make everyone think Party Unity My Ass is effective, then there is hope that one step from Altzheimer McCain will win the election.
It Won’t Work.
The Clinton’s are fine
The Democrats are fine, and we WILL win this election, it WILL happen.

“Rudy the loser” speaks . . . .

Roe v. wade, is it needeed? Every woman in this country older than 15 years fof age knows that they can get birth control for free at any number of ubiquitous locations across this country. There is no longer any stigma attached to unwed mothers. An unwed mother can get free tuition for college and free day care while they go to school. Why is abortion on demand so necessary/ Are the girls to stupid to take birth control? per haps you think they are to lazy to take birth control. Why not expect more from them, if you are old enough to need birth control you are old enough to be responsible for your own body. if you get pregnant because you are to lazy to visit the free clinic I should not be required to pay for your cjild’s birth or abortion.
If you claim the right to engage in sex YOU must take the resposibility for the outcome. If you want me to pay for your child or abortion you are out of luck. I can’t believe you can’t figure how to take free birth control. Grow up BEFORE you start having sex and do not expect me to foot the bill. They say that if you call your mama Suzy and your grandmother “mom”, you are going to jail. Have kids when you can afford tham and are grown uop enough to raise the. Pay your own way in life. If I had waited for someone to help me through college I would have never gone to college.

Rudy G:
How do you know what Obama should have done?

politicsandtraditions said,
“To say that John McCain is a clone of George Bush can not be any further from the truth and it is like saying Barack Obama is a clone of Hillary Clinton”
Believe it or not they are clones. Democrats will rule like Democrats do and Republicans will rule like Republicans do. The difference between McCain and Obama are 180 regarding priorities. The difference between Bush\McCain or Clinton\Obama are much more subtle…That is why I cannot understand any Democrat who supported Clinton would turn around and support McCain in the general election. It is absurd…If you are a Democrat who would vote Republican in the general election because your candidate was not nominated then you never believed in your party to begin with..You also playing into your ideological opponents (Republican) hands.

What makes me sad is that the Puma folks are acting so anti-feminist. To spite Obama they will vote for McCain, a man whose record on women’s issues, marital history, and personal attitudes reflect chronic disrespect for women? As President he will get to choose Supreme Court Justices who will kill Roe V. Wade and set women’s rights back a couple of generations. In addition, this man is not very bright. He graduated 894th out of 899 in his USNA class, got shot down (why?), made his reputation in Congress by being oppositional (power tripping? stubborn?) and can’t think on his feet so recites campaign sound bites over and over. After the past eight years, haven’t we had enough of bottom of the class “leadership,” shallow rhetoric and fear mongering? What will the PUMA legacy be for their daughters and granddaughters?

Why won’t Hillary Clinton supporters “give it up?” Because we don’t have to! We are NOT bitter either. We just REFUSE to have no-substance Obama forced on us. We can support whomever we choose. Obama LIMPED his way into this nomination, losing the last 6 of 8 primaries & did NOT have the support of the biggest swing states(they voted for Hillary). Then, the ultimate slap in the face to Hillary, Obama chooses a MAN w/9,000 votes instead of the WOMAN w/18,000,000 votes(dugh?). Absolute stupidity, in my opinion! I’m requesting a write-in ballot in favor of Hillary Clinton – & by the way, I live in one of the states that could be essential in November. **One more thing, Obama had ONE CHANCE to get my Nov. vote – that was to pick Hillary as VP running mate & he did NOT do that; so I hope he looses in Nov. by 17,101,000 votes thanks to his Biden selection & my ONE write-in vote!(ha, ha – don’t bother, I understand the Electoral College).

Hillary Clinton Supporters!! Why would you waste your hard earned Democratic power and vote for a Republican for president?? It would be a huge waste to bring another four years of Republicanism to the country. Support Obama and bring back the White House!! McCain had my respect when he was an Independant but when he crossed into being a Republican I lost all respect for him. It showed that he only went in that direction because he thought they were the winning party. Now he is wrong!! No more years!!! Make it the battle cry!!!!

If a person is really committed to make changes in the government and be elected to President or VP, he certainly isn’t going to run as an Independent! Independents have something to say, but they don’t get elected.
McCain’s move to the Republican party was a good political move. He has not changed his independent thinking but knows he can’t do anything to change the course of history on the sidelines.
He’s still the Maverick (called that by bitter fellow Republicans when McCain did not fall in line with every party line), and the addition of Palin proves once again his desire to chart a new direction.
