On the Mountaintop
5:05 pm MT: Watching the tribute to Dr. King, I’m struck first of all by how remarkable this coincidence is, to have the first black man nominated for president deliver his acceptance speech 45 years to the day after King declared, "I have a dream."
And here in the mile-high city, this also offers an opportunity to Democrats to continue their outreach to religious voters. The King imagery can’t hurt.

Obama’s nomination is historic. But, MLK was the one and only. I don’t think at this point Obama is close to the level of admiration that MLK was and is. Other than his being nominated he has yet to make his mark on America. And I really don’t think there will ever be any man that can compare to MLK or what he accomplished. Obama has yet to define himself and it seems people, and especially the media, are searching for someone great to compare him to. First MLK, then JFK. He needs to live up to his own legacy.

omg i can’t believe all the networks reporting that the stadium starting filling at noon and not reporting that everyone was told that they had to be there by 2PM mdt and that they closed I-25 at 5:30. they’re trying to make us all think that they are all there because they couldn’t wait!!!

dot…And that surprises you? The media has made Obama out to be this iconic figure. It’s almost freighting to me what I see on TV.I thought I’d seen it all during the primary. I feel like I’m in a bad si-fi movie. I hope he can live up to the hype.I found it odd that after Obama complimented Hillary last night the applause was louder and longer than when he walked out.

I don’t think Obama earned everything. His success so far has relied on sheer luck. I will not vote for him no matter what.
Obama’s slim bounce will be very short lived. Democrats are now in the feel-good time, it will soon disappear when Obama’s various questionable associates, policy stands re-capture the center. There is not a single issue that he can bring himself to a firm stand. Even if he says he has good policies, he can not convince people he can deliver. Look at his affordable housing projects/policies at Chicago. When Rezko gets sentenced early September, McCain can bundle issues of judgment, policies, and management all together.

gee, Amy, what a surprise! A republican troll not voting for Obama — thankfully, millions of others will take your place!
