Chelsea Evening
Finally, the world gets to hear Chelsea Clinton’s voice.
ABC’s Kate Snow is reporting that Chelsea Clinton, the 28-year-old only child of the New York Senator and former President, will introduce her mother tonight, according to a Clinton source.
The former First Daughter has been famously shielded from the press, beginning with her childhood years in the White House and continuing through her 20s as she campaigned for her mother in this year’s bruising primary battle but never spoke on the record to reporters. She appeared at several town meetings, taking questions from voters, including one who famously asked her about her father’s relationship with Monica Lewinsky. But the next generation Clinton has largely avoided political speaking engagements.
Save for a few short sound bites, Chelsea’s voice has been unheard by most Americans.
First, we were told that Chelsea Clinton would narrate a short biographical video on her mother, before New York Senator steps out on stage for her speech.
And then we were told an unnamed mystery guest would introduce Sen. Clinton.
And finally, Chelsea was spotted with her mother on the convention stage this afternoon, during the walk-throughs where speakers get acclimated with the surroundings.
Chelsea Clinton’s appearance would be the second surprise, unscheduled guest on the Democrats’ convention agenda, starting with Ted Kennedy last night. Who might the Dems spring on us tomorow?

Obama Avoids Questions on Contraception Rule
I hope the pack of wolves (Media) doesn’t get started on Chelsea Clinton. She is a nice young lady that has hurt no one, and should be left alone. If she wants to honor her mother, so be it. In this day and age it is rather nice to know that there are some children that respect their parents.

I agree with you Lloyd. It’s too bad John McCain didn’t show Chelsea the same respect when he told that awful joke years ago.

Obama’s daughter: ‘I think she did good’

Product of Ivy-leaguers.
Did “good”, alright. We don’t need no Zero-bama.

Lazy to think:
You are rude. People’s children are off limits from critics. Your post needs removed.
Posted by: Hippiemom | August 26, 2008, 3:49 pm 3:49 pm
Certainly, Chelsea won’t say her parents “did good”.
Posted by: lazy to think | August 26, 2008, 3:50 pm 3:50 pm
If they send out their children to deceive, it’s not off limits.
The Clintons never had Chelsea going out to tell people her Dad “did good”. Consequently, she is off limit and I respect that. Look how well she turned out to be.

The child is 7 years old. Back off.
Posted by: eddie | August 26, 2008, 3:58 pm 3:58 pm
They don’t push their children in the media. The children chose to come on stage. Kids will be kids and steal the show as they did.
If you have to criticize someone’s children to make yourself feel better then you need help.

All that tough talk coming from someone who calls him/herself “lazy to think”. Lazy to think indeed.

Then, at least teach her “she did well”.
We don’t want “did good” graduates from Harvard.
Posted by: lazy to think | August 26, 2008, 4:03 pm 4:03 pm
Hippiemom, You don’t get it, do you? My comment was on 0-bama’s neglect of teaching their children, to even speak proper English.

The girl is 7 years old! Give me a break!
Take some time and actually think instead of being lazy.
Posted by: Hippiemom | August 26, 2008, 4:08 pm 4:08 pm
I think the kids should be off limits. I do agree the Clinton’s raised a beautiful, articulate and intelligent young woman. They obviously did something right in raising Chelsea. I would like to see her introduce her mother. It would also be nice if Hillary’s mother introduced her.
Posted by: J | August 26, 2008, 4:10 pm 4:10 pm
Hippie mom,
Precisely. Children learn, especially language, from their parents. If Zero-bamas are so busy campaigning for themselves, neglecting to teach their own daughters, how would you trust him to pay attention to Education in the country?
If “did good” is indeed what they say and taught their children, it re-affirms his status as an Affirmative Action product, from, for God Sake, Harvard.
Posted by: lazy to think | August 26, 2008, 4:11 pm 4:11 pm
By the time President Obama gets through his FIRST TERM, his daughters will have learned when they should use good or well. In case you forgot, elementary school and middle school are frequently referred to as GRAMMAR SCHOOL. Let them be kids, you dunce.

Let’s look at your grammatical errors. Let’s see, you should have used “why” instead of “how”. Also it’s education, not Education.
Go back to school, LAZY.

Lazy,
I’m done playing your childish game. I’m really happy for you! You have better grammar than a 7 year old girl. It’s a huge accomplishment. You must be proud.
Now educate yourself on the real issues.

Kids aren’t off limits when the parents get them involved in the campaign, no matter what party.
You parade your kids on the platform, speakers platform-fair game.

Well if you’re going to pick on a 7 year old then I’m calling you fair game. Most of your responses aren’t even complete thoughts. Listen, if you want to contribute to a meaningful conversation, or even debate a little, you should first probably enroll in Sasha Obama’s grammar class. On second thought, you may want to try remedial grammar for burnouts.

eddie, I am not picking a 7 year old, but I am serious about 0-bamas neglect of their children in the past 2 years, who grew up with “she did good”.
I don’t pretend to be a grammar expert, but I am not running for the president who needs to exhibit some accomplishments. If what 0-bama’s daughter, given that it’s a simple sentence, is a glimpse of the type of education 0-bama is offering to the country, it’s a scary thought to our future in education. At least, he has not paid enough attention.
Posted by: lazy to think | August 26, 2008, 4:37 pm 4:37 pm
Leave the little kid alone. Who cares if she said she did good. She’s freakin’ 7 for God’s sake. I have heard adults speak much worse than that. When you become perfect let us all know. I don’t like Obama but to pick on his kids is just plain stupid.

I can’t believe I have to do this…
Each sentence contains (or implies) two parts: a subject and a predicate. A predicate is what is said about the subject.
“We” is the subject and the predicate is “can”. You see, it’s not how many words are in a sentence but if you have a subject and a predicate. It’s crazy, I know, we don’t even need the “Yes” to make “Yes, we can” a complete sentence. MIND BOGGLING!

What? I have no idea what your question is supposed to mean.
If you are talking about Obama, I am not a supporter by any means.I am also not a McCain supporter either.
Who cares if a 7 year old says something like that. There are bigger issues than a kid saying “She did good”.
Posted by: J | August 26, 2008, 4:46 pm 4:46 pm
Geez, lazytothink! If you’re going to attack a seven year-old for a grammar error, you should begin composing your posts in a software with spell & grammar checks. That way, when you cut & paste your (lame) comments only the content will embarrass you. (BTW, have you been a bully all your life or is picking on children a new hobby?)

lazy to think – OK. Were you abused by a Grammar Nazi as a young child?
And, I’ll bet your parents were completely thrilled with a seven year-old child who never, ever, ever made a single grammar error.

You are an idiot. One sentence from a 7 year old on a national stage doesn’t mean squat. I am sure you use proper english 24/7.
If she were older it might be a concern. Who gives a rat’s behind? I am more interested in the economy and the war in Iraq not what some 7 year old blurted out on national television.
I can’t stand Obama but to pick on his 7 year old is childish of you.

Unlike Barack or Michelle, the only reason Hillary is successful, went to Columbia and then got her high paying rediculous job is because of her parents! Yeah, she better be thankful for that! Without them she would be a very vacuous, boring person. BIG YAWN.

Saying that a 7 year old can do better than any person in the WH, including, yes, GW, really is childish and demeaning to the office of POTUS itself. Get over it, Hillary lost. Thank God for that. DKR, to your fair enough question: Being independent doesn’t mean we are independent on every issue! As we vote we have an effect. Fr e.g., on some issues I might swing with the “Repugs” as you say, and some I will go always with the Dems–as with Universal healthcare. BUT I am not beholden to any one power elite group. Heck, I will even vote Green Party at times! It all depends on the issues.
I was a Democrat, like my family, but always was uncomforatble having to justify the Clinton’s never ending sagas! They were (and remain) an embarrassment. I’m thankful the Obamas came along and knocked them down a few pegs. The Clintons are so incredibly arrogant, smug and yes, corrupt. They will say and do anything for power. I’m glad their overbearing influence on the Democratic Party has been lessened with the Kennedy’s thankfully doing the right thing and helping knock the stool out from under them.

With the Clintons we had respect from the world we had low gas prices, we have more affordable health care. We didn’t have this no child left behind that is causing teachers to quit. The Obama’s aren’t arrogant, smug and corrupt? (I will remind you of Rezko here).
During the Clinton years we were much better off than we are now. They are politicians no worse than anybody else.
If you think Obama is the Saviour you have your head in the clouds. If he had been vetted like the Clinton’s a lot more would have come out about him.
It is funny you bring the Kennedy’s into it. You forget that Obama didn’t win Massachusetts so a lot of good their influence had.

Yes, DKY alot of those things you list are true, but let’s remember it was Bill NOT Hillary who did those thigns! And right, no one is perfect –last of whom being the Clintons who don’t even try except to serve themselves, to make themselves try to look good, for those easy to fool.
Bill, too, however, pushed through NAFTA, ignored the rising terrorist threat, lied and schemed, and abused his office, and interns for years as toal mysognynist, and made us the laughing stock of crude jokes around the world. I know–I was living in Europe at the time. It was cringing!!
And hey, I definitely don’t justify ‘No Child Left Behind’ anyway, so why raise it?! I would vote Dem on the education front for sure. It sounds like you and otehrs here just can’t stand the thought there are all these liberally minded but free thnking individuals who aren’t actaully in love with the Clintons nor justify their horrendous scruples! Again, they needed to be knocked down.
To those who aren’t blind followers they will always remain blemishes, hick-like embarrassments. I’m glad Teddy came out in support of Barack as early he did and the family did pretty much as much as anyone to take down the Clinton corrupt machine and aright the Dem party so it can actually maybe win this time. ..that is, if the Clintons can behave themselves!! I wouldn’t put it past them to vote secretly for McCain! They are that crass.

YEah, Obama is smug, so? I doubt anyone could get as close to the level of personal and political dishonesty and corruption as the Clintons. Like I said, I am idendent now, not an Obama lover either. It’s voters like you are perhaps who blindly follow and justify anything your party’s candidate, regradless–that merely allows such corruption in politics to continue! Stand up and think for yourself! If you were peeps were really intelllectually honest there is no way you could justify the Clinton’s personally as good upstanding ‘leaders!’ FAce it, most sensible people, most of us would never want to have the likes of them as friends, or ever trust them with their track record, regardless of our political leanings. And hey, DKY, even if I was “fat” as you rediculously label me, shouldn’t you be celebrating that diversity instead of knocking it, or is that just a slogn for you?

” He cares if you likes fat homewrekers with big mouths.”
–Huh? HEy, I’m not justifying Bush’s plicies one bit. But, I would trust his character or my daughters with him a lot mroe than I’d ever trust Bill. If you can’t trsut a wo/man personally, you can’t trust her/him as a leader either! If they can cheat and steal from their freinds and family, they can do it to you too–a faceless “loyal” party-line voter, regardless of what anyone ever does who is in your party! Some help that is! And yeah, I do trust Obama, but no, I definitely don’t think he’s perfect.

You act as if Bill Clinton was the first politician to cheat on his wife. Look at Mr. Clean Edwards, who would have thought that? Take a look at how many male politicians have had extramarital affairs.

J, you just don’t get it, obviously.

Get what? The Clinton’s are no worse than any other politician. YOU don’t get it. Put your blind faith into somebody you have no clue about their background because the media REFUSED to investigate anything about him.
You don’t realize the good both Clinton’s have done in this country and others.

J and DKr, it’s been interesting to say the least, but I gotta go now. I want to watch the convention.
I leave you with this: consider how your come whatever may blind party loyalty doesn’t, in the long run, actually help/serve the Democratic Party ideals, but only encourages egotists to further flaunt themselves, keeping the system as corrupt as ever! REAL Change begins with accountability!
I hope Obama wins, but believe me, if he sinks to the depths of the Clintons at least some of us will hold him accountable. No one is perfect, sure, but flagrant disregard like the Clintons have shown is something altogether different adn somethign we need to move on from as the Kennedys have in no small measure helped pave the way!

Megan,
JFK was a womanizer or are you too young to know that? The ideals of the Democratic party have changed immensely since I started voting 30+ years ago. Regardless if you like either Clinton, BOTH have done a lot of good in the US.
I am sure you will find fault with Hillary’s speech tonight.

Women Put in Their Place, Again ?
On Aug. 26, 2008, the 88th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving Women the right to vote, Hillary Rodham Clinton will address America to explain why she and the rest of the women in America have allowed themselves to be put back in their place as third class citizens behind White men and now Black men. It is so disappointing to see women rolling over on their backs and doing as they were told, as if their Foremothers had not spent the past few thousand years suffering and struggling to be acknowledged as equals instead of the property of men ,to be used and abused and told what to do and think and say. What a shame it is that on the Anniversary of one of Women’s` greatest achievements Hillary Clinton will be personally giving up all that has been gained and admitting defeat once again. How sad that women have allowed themselves to be put back in their place and told what to do by Obama, Howard Dean and the DNC, and the media, then tricked into using such an important anniversary to admit defeat and pledge their allegiance to their new Master. It is such a disgrace to see the women of today selling out their Foremothers and their achievements so easily just to put another Male democrat in the White House, without realizing that when “United” they actually hold enough power to control this election and put a woman in the White House instead of another man. The women of today have rolled over so easily when they were told to, that I find it hard to understand if it was because they really enjoy being third class citizens behind the white man and now the Black man, or were they just not smart enough or brave enough to do as there foremothers before them and band together and stand up for themselves and what is rightfully theirs. The women of today have stood by and allowed the men of their party to push aside Hillary Clinton to make room for their chosen one, another man .How pathetic you have become, allowing the men of the DNC to put you back in your place on such an important night. I guess Hillary has been ordered to use that night to try to convince you that you should be happy and celebrating in the knowledge that you are lucky that your foremothers did all of the hard work so you can stand by and watch it ripped from a woman`s grasp at the last minute, but it is okay” because it was just not your time but it will be someday soon if you stand aside and let another Man have it for the next four to eight years”. You should be happy that they even allow you the right to vote, instead of complaining about how you were tricked out of your rights and told who you can vote for, as long as it is not a woman. ” You have come a long way baby”, then stepped aside as you were told to do so all of the men can get back in the front of the line, leaving you in the back of the line where you belong. Shame on you for rolling over once again! Regardless of Political Party or Race , you all lose.
